Welcome back to the Making Health Dooable Podcast! Today, we’re so excited to share something we’ve been working on—a new program launching in 2025 called The Guardian Community. This program is all about providing first responders with the tools and support they need to navigate the unique challenges of their roles while staying mentally and physically strong.
In this episode, Mac shares his incredible journey from martial arts instructor to law enforcement officer. Starting the academy at 35, Mac faced plenty of challenges, but he never let them hold him back. He talks about the lack of mental health resources available during his time in the field and how those experiences inspired him to be part of creating something better for today’s first responders.
We also dive into how the profession has changed over the years, with officers now juggling roles as social workers, mediators, and more. Mac’s firsthand perspective highlights just how vital peer support, stress management, and a strong community are in this line of work.
The Guardian Community is our way of addressing these gaps. With Mac’s input and insights from other first responders, we’re building a program designed to provide the kind of support and care that wasn’t always available in the past. Whether you’re in the profession or just curious about what it takes to serve in these roles, this episode will give you a fresh perspective.
If you found this episode helpful, please share it with someone who could benefit. And don’t forget to leave us a review or connect with us on social media—we’d love to hear your thoughts! Together, we’re Making Health dooable® for the people who give so much to their communities.
