(00:00):
Welcome to Rolling with theDolans.

(00:01):
I'm Patrick Dolan.
And I'm Tameka Dolan.
And this podcast is for us todiscuss everything about our
interracial marriage, blendingfamilies, and parenting multiple
children of all different ages.
Okay, and I'll give you a littlebit of background about what

(00:24):
we're looking to achieve.
Today we just want to do a quickintro about, what this podcast
means to us and then, what we'relooking to, get out of it and
what we're hoping that thelisteners can get out of it as
well.
Okay.
So what we're looking to get outof it is sometimes I think it's

(00:45):
better if we discuss things outloud.
I think it's good if we getfeedback from our listeners.
What do you think?
Yeah, I think that, that we havea lot of different stories to
tell.
I think that, you know, over theyears we've, learned a lot and I
think that some of these thingsmight resonate well with other
people and that they might havethe same experiences and they

(01:09):
might, you know, have somethingthat, that they can learn from
us.
And then, as we continue toprogress with this, we want to
learn from, people, That, thatdo have, you know, similar
background stories and, andthings like that, that they can
share with us to learn on top ofit.
Okay.
I agree.
So the next question is, whatdoes this podcast mean to us?

(01:33):
My feeling is I always want totry to do things to help others.
And, if there's anything that, Ican do that might be able to
help others.
That's, that would be huge, youknow, whether or not it's just
one listener or multiplelisteners or anybody.
I definitely hope that they canget some value out of our
stories and what we're going totalk about.

(01:56):
I agree.
What it, what was the questionagain?
What does it mean to us?
Yeah.
I think it means that it's,we're able to give back what
we've learned because, Weobviously are a little bit older
than some people that are juststarting to blend families.
So, we have had to mature andlearn, on the way.

(02:22):
And so I feel like we can givepeople some advice and insight
on what we did that worked, andwhat we're going to try that
might work, and all that goodstuff.
Yeah, and speaking of older, some of the things that, you
know, we can share is, is someof the things that didn't work
in other relationships, and wecan talk a lot more about this

(02:44):
one and, and what we really feelis different for us that, that
helps us have such a tightrelationship.
I agree.
I agree.
All right.
Are you excited for thisjourney?
Yeah, and there's one thing thatyou didn't talk about yet, Do
you think that you are going tocringe when you look back and

(03:07):
hear this a year from now Whatis the definition of cringe
like?
Oh, geez.
What was I thinking?
I Think I'm gonna say we hadquite a few technical
difficulties Uh, maybe we shouldhave reworded that because
someone was in their feelingsand they sent us a nasty message

(03:29):
and that's about it.
And what was the most importantthing about getting this
started?
Oh, my new motto for, motto, moto, is it motto?
You say tomato, I say tomato orsomething like that.
Okay.
Motto for the year is done isbetter than perfect.

(03:52):
So we're going to put it outthere every week.
Are you committed to once aweek?
At least.
Okay.
I say once a week.
And that's documented now.
I'm not going to take that out.
Well, listen, it takes two of usto do it.
So I say once a week because Ithink things get a little crazy.
So if we can commit to once aweek and just get it done, it

(04:16):
might not be perfect, but itwill be done.
Right.
Absolutely.
So that's the thing is, youknow, a lot of times, we've
learned, we can get into to someof the different things as far
as entrepreneurship and thingsthat we've done through our
careers, and businesses is a lotof times you just have to get
something out there.

(04:36):
You have to get started ratherthan just keep thinking about
it.
If you just keep thinking aboutit and planning, nothing ever
happens.
So you just have to get it doneand, you know, move on.
So speaking of moving on we havea lot of topics that we're going
to be excited about talkingabout soon.
we'll get into travel, vacationsthat we, we, we've done and we

(04:57):
want to do.
We'll get into, you know, someof the different things that we
have to deal with.
Sports and running around withkids left and right and, just
day to day types of activitiesas well.
What about money?
what money?
Well, sometimes people want toknow what blended families do
with money.
Okay, yeah, we can talk aboutthat.

(05:19):
Okay, sounds good.
Need to get some money first.
All right, let's get it.
Let's get it.
All right, so other than that, then, we need to come up with
our solid exit from this aswell.
So how do you want to handlethat tonight?
Well, like I said, it's gonna besome technical difficulties, but
I mean I did the intro so Ithink that you should work on

(05:40):
the exit.
Well, I guess, hmm.
Well, thanks for joining us.
I hope that you will tune in forthe next time and we'll have a
lot of fun on this journey and,our intention is make it fun
informative and something that'smeaningful for everybody.
So join us again soon andhopefully have a magnificent

(06:04):
week Magnificent.
