OK Solberg (00:00):
I wanna again welcome you to the 04:05 coffee

(00:02):
break. Get you a cup of coffee, glass iced tea, bottled water,
let's see what's happening.Spring wheat $5.17 a bushel. 550
pound steer calf at an all timerecord high, $4.41 a pound. A
butcher hog in Iowa, 62¢ apound, and a lamb that's fat in

(00:26):
Billings when a 100 pounds willfetch you $2 even.
Well, guys, there's more, muchmore. Good afternoon, folks.
Time for the news. I'll give youthe bad news first. The bad news
is there ain't no good news.
Now that one is flat out funny. How can you have something so

(00:49):
funny actually be the absolutetruth at the same time as being
funny? Now I can't claim thatone as my own. It was sent in by
a good friend and listener, andit came from a comic strip in a
recent Billings Gazette. Thankyou very much.
Keep those cards and letterscoming in. That little saying is

(01:12):
a definite keeper. Okay then, the topic for today is sleep.
What? Yes.
The topic for today is sleep.Everyone does it, we all need
it, and I've seldom spoke of iton this program. Did you realize
they say a good laugh and a longsleep are the two best cures for

(01:33):
anything? Wow, that's as good asthe first one liner. I'm gonna
save it too.
Since sleep is vital to all ofus, there have been loads of one
liners dealing with said topic. Here's another, listen. The best
bridge between despair and hopeis a good night's sleep. How

(01:58):
about another one? Give yourstress wings and let it fly away
while you sleep.
Now if you've noticed a repeatedtheme in all three that I just
shared, You notice that it'stalking if you had a bad day. A
good night's sleep brings apositive new perspective. But we

(02:19):
don't always have a bad day.Hopefully, we have many, many
good days, yet we still need agood night's sleep. So this
one's for you.
Sleep is the golden chain thatties health and our bodies
together. So why is this topicon my mind? I'll tell you,

(02:41):
because I had a tremendousnight's sleep last night. This
morning I hit the snooze buttonsix times, six times guys, and
it has a nine minute lag betweeneach new ring, that means I got
an extra fifty four minutes ofsleep. I stole it.
It was the forbidden fruit. Somepeople hate an alarm clock, but

(03:05):
my alarm clock is my friend. Nowsaying that, I have to admit, I
seldom have my alarm clock ring.See, I typically sleep well and
I wake up before it goes off,but I typically habitually set
it. Why?
It's my safeguard. It's my everliving friend that will remind

(03:27):
me, if for some reason I didn'twake on my own. But on those
rare impression preciousoccasions where I need extra
sleep, I have my alarm set forabout an hour and a half before
I really need to leave thehouse. Some people, including
you, might think that's crazy, but I love it. That way I can

(03:52):
have my coffee and sit andponder on the plans of the day
before I go out and get my walkand start the rest of my duties.
So here's the deal while I'mtelling you all this. When we
sleep really well and we hearthat alarm go off and we're
still sleepy, we can hit thatsnooze button and receive one of

(04:15):
the greatest gifts known tomankind in the practical world.
What? Yes. Receive one of thegreatest gifts known to mankind
in the practical world, we cansteal nine more minutes of
joyous sleep.
Oh, it's like the right gift atthe right time that nobody
thought to give me. So here's toeveryone out there wishing you a

(04:40):
good night's sleep, and tomorrowmorning, I hope you can hit the
snooze button six times andstill not miss a thing. So with
the clock on the wall telling meI soon have to go, I'll leave
you with this. Good afternoon, folks. Time for the news.
I'll give you the bad newsfirst. The bad news is there

(05:02):
ain't no good news. Ah, but I'mjust pulling your leg. The good
news is a good laugh and a longsleep are the two best cures for
anything. Bible verse, in vainyou rise early and stay up late,
toiling for food to eat, for hegrants sleep to those he loves.

(05:28):
Psalm a hundred and twenty seventwo. So until next time, as you
go out there, remember now, don't be bitter.
