OK Solberg (00:00):
I wanna again welcome you to The 405 Coffee
Break. Guys, get your cup ofcoffee, glass iced tea, bottle
of water. It's a new week. Let'ssee what's happening out there.
Spring wheat, $5.12 a bushel.
Oh, man. Sit down for this one.A 550lb steer calf, I'm gonna
make it a 555lb steer calf,$4.41 a pound. Are you kidding

(00:28):
me? I had to check and recheck.No. It's true. Pays, Billings.
Larry little owl, five head, black, black, white face,
weighed five hundred and fiftypound apiece. That tallies up to
$2,447.55. I was wrong. You wereright. It keeps going higher.

(00:52):
Orvin was wrong. Don't forgetit. A butcher hog in Iowa, 59¢ a
pound, and 100lb fat lambin Billings at $2.01, $2.01 a
pound. Guys, there's more, muchmore.
Okay. Now I first aired thisstory on Monday, 07/31/2023, but

(01:16):
I wanna share it again. In fact,I made mention of it briefly
just last week. But see, here'sthe deal. We hear many fantastic
true life happenings, but oftenand most likely, they come from
far distant states or even fromdifferent countries. This one,

(01:39):
this one belongs to PhillipsCounty, Montana, right here at
home. The first time I told it,I said, some of you may well
remember this, but believe me,most of you never knew. The
story needs to be remembered, relished, savored, and saved.
I spoke with this man that hadthis encounter, and he knows

(02:02):
from the bottom of his heartthat it just wasn't his time to
die. There was a protectorvisiting the hills of South
Phillips County in thefall of 1969.
Let's have our Bible verse tofit the theme, then I'll share
this wonderful story again. See,I am sending an angel ahead of

(02:28):
you to guard you along the wayand to bring you to the place I
have prepared, Exodus 23:20 Nowlisten to this true story on the
front page of the PCN from thefall of 1969 and see if there
was a guardian angel watchingover.

(02:52):
The heading reads, GenePeigneux, shot by unknown party.
Eugene Walter Gene Peigneux 17,is reported to be doing well at
the Deaconess Hospital inGlasgow after being struck with
a high powered rifle bullet.Gene and his brother Larry, 15,

(03:16):
were hunting on separate ridgeson their father's ranch north of
First Creek Hall, about 40 milessouth of Malta. A stray rifle
bullet hit Gene passing throughhis right wrist without touching
the bone and into his rightside, passing through his body,

(03:37):
out through his back on the leftside, end of quote. Are you
kidding me?
A high powered bullet, probablya 270 or 30-06, passed through
his wrist without breaking abone and through his body cavity
without hitting anything vitaland right out the back. It's one

(03:58):
in a million, doc. It's one inten billion. Now I'm gonna keep
these episodes recorded becausethis story should never be
forgotten. Remember, I told youjust last week that I talked to
Gene Peigneux just Thursday,09/25/2025.
And Gene said, I guess it wasn'tmy time. And this is fifty six

(04:24):
years later, I hope to shout andcall the doctor. I visited with
his older brother Joe just lastweek, and I said, Joe, I want to
save these stories to beremembered. What other details
can you recall of thathappening? Joe, he thinks for a
moment and says, well, I wasn'tout at the farm at that time.

(04:47):
I graduated two years earlier in1967. So I'm living in Malta,
and one of the family membersstops by my house to give me the
news. Joe pauses and goes to thefile cabinet in his mind and

(05:08):
says, well, it it must have beena Sunday because I was still at
the house. I wouldn't have beenat the house that late unless it
was a Sunday. They stopped inaround eight to tell me brother
Gene had been shot.
Hey. Stop right there. Now wehave two impressive stories

(05:28):
about the Peigneux brothers. Onesurvived a high powered rifle
shot through the wrist and bodycavity, and the other brother
Joe can remember which day ofthe week it was even fifty six
years later. Are you hearingwhat I'm telling?
Now this isn't the first time myfriend Joe has shown me the

(05:50):
accuracy of his memory. Thefirst time was when I asked Joe
what he remembered from the JFKassassination back on
11/22/1963. Joe stated that theywere at school in Malta, and the
news came and everyone wasshocked. Then Joe does that

(06:13):
magical pause where he allows asecond to pass before he draws
from the database. Joe pausedand said, it must have been a
Friday because we didn't go outto the farm except for the
weekend, and I remember thefamily visiting about it around
the kitchen table that night.

(06:34):
Go do your research, guys.11/22/1963 was a Friday. Joe was
correct. If we're screeningpotential jurors for a trial,
this man will do. Remarkablememory.
And when Joe said that the dayhis brother Gene was shot was on

(06:58):
a Sunday, listen to what the PCNNews article says from 1969.
Gene Peigneux shot Sunday byunknown party. Eugene Walter
Jean Peigneux 17 is reported tobe doing well at the Deaconess
Hospital in Glasgow after beingstruck with a high powered rifle
bullet while hunting on Sundaymorning. So now we have a

(07:24):
Peigneux who is builtbulletproof and a Peigneux who
has a memory of a genius.Remember, a big part of smarts
is simply remembering what youheard or what you saw.
You know? I think I'll call thisepisode Peigneux are bulletproof
geniuses. But remember, it'sjust between you and me. Don't

(07:48):
go blabbing it or they'll begetting a big head. So until
next time, as you go out there, remember now, don't be bitter.
