Speaker 1 (00:04):
Dragon, ladies and gentlemen. The story you were about to
hear is true. The names have been changed to protect
the innocent. You're a detective sergeant. You're assigned a robbery detail.

(00:27):
A pair of hold up men have been operating in
your city. You know their method of operation, you know
what they look like. Your job get them.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
It was Wednesday, June eighth. It was warm in Los Angeles.
We were working the day watch out of robbery detail.
My partner is Frank Smith, the boss's chiev detective's dad round.
My name is Friday. We're on our way out from
the office and it was ten fourteen am when we
get to the corner of Roberta and Mercury, the after
hours cafe. Yeah, would like to see Harry Prentis.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Yeah, I'm man.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
What do you want police officers? It's my partner, Frank Smith.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
My name is right, all right?

Speaker 3 (01:04):
Five last nine? Huh?

Speaker 4 (01:05):
Yeah? Were you here?

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:07):
Sure? Was I The only one's got a key?

Speaker 3 (01:08):
Place is open?

Speaker 5 (01:09):
I'm here?

Speaker 4 (01:09):
Yes?

Speaker 6 (01:09):
Or not?

Speaker 2 (01:10):
About the robbery?

Speaker 4 (01:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (01:11):
Sure?

Speaker 5 (01:11):
What do you want to know?

Speaker 2 (01:12):
Would you tell us what happened?

Speaker 8 (01:14):
We should have read the papers this morning all about it,
and there got a couple of copies if you want
to see him.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
No, that won't be mess.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
Oh, no trouble all.

Speaker 5 (01:20):
I happened to have a couple of copies right here,
Yeah here, take a look right here. Yeah, I hit it.
I'll read it to you.

Speaker 8 (01:28):
Last night at the after hours cafe, and we wish
he'd give any address. And at the after hours cafe,
two gunmen held up and be Jeffrey Hanks.

Speaker 5 (01:36):
A victim was approached outside the bar, and one asked
for his munch.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
And now we saw that. We'd just like to hear
your version if we could.

Speaker 5 (01:43):
Oh, oh, okay, what do you want to know?

Speaker 8 (01:45):
Did you see them in as the gun that's right? Yeah, sure,
I told the other cops they did it, gave me
a description.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Everything knows anything about this speech and accent.

Speaker 8 (01:53):
Maybe no. I asked them what they wanted. One big
one you ordered the Scotch in the rocks. The other
one asked for playing great for juice, no boots, just
the juice and lucky I had it. Got a couple
of cans in for vodka drinks. Don't get a lot
of call for it, guy drank all I had when
the victims come in.

Speaker 5 (02:09):
You mean Hanks. Yah almost have been about eight thirty
someplace in there, walked in Sata.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
Had you seen them before?

Speaker 6 (02:15):
No?

Speaker 8 (02:16):
Brand new face, nice looking guy though, kind you like
to have for regulars. That's so Yeah, quiet, good drinker,
doesn't bother the singles at the bar, nice, you know
what I mean?

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Yeah, I had a place full of them.

Speaker 5 (02:26):
I wouldn't have no worries.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
How do you happen to get mixed up with the
other two?

Speaker 7 (02:29):
You know?

Speaker 4 (02:30):
Yeah, you mean Hanks, that's right.

Speaker 5 (02:31):
I don't know.

Speaker 8 (02:32):
I wasn't paying a lot of attention. Porta Mamartini left
him alone. A friend of mine, lady type, was here.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
We was talking to her. Her and her boyfriend been
having trouble.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
He belted around a little bit.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
Not that had couple of scratchy you know, I mean,
I think so well. She was asking me what to do.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
We've been friends for a long time since I opened
a place.

Speaker 8 (02:48):
Anyway, we was talking, so I didn't see what happened.
All I know is that the three of them got up,
moved to the booth in the back, ordered another round.
H I hardly got the drinks back to the table
and they was ready.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
For another one.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
Go ahead, running from.

Speaker 6 (03:00):
The bar to their table.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
The next couple of hours, hear anything they were saying.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
No, not much.

Speaker 8 (03:04):
When I was drinking scotch, you get a little plastered loud.
Told him a couple of times to shut up, said
after eighty six and if they didn't cap it up,
so I told him to leave. Didn't take it kindly,
I mean that I started to get rough, you know,
telling me that they didn't have to take no gup
from a bar keeper now. And I told him I
want drinking a grapefruit juice. I told him to get
his friends out. And he says, we're not causing any trouble.

(03:26):
And I said, that's the way I want to keep it.
So he said for me to leave him alone, and
I said to the grapefruitter, I said for him to
leave right then.

Speaker 5 (03:33):
I don't want you in my place. I said, yeah,
well then, so scotch on the rocks. He said, Tell
his cat to go hide his head like that, he.

Speaker 8 (03:40):
Said, and turn the bear loose. I grabbed the both
of them, threw them out through the door.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
Oh you see, And I.

Speaker 8 (03:47):
Went back to the other guy, nice looking on him.
It was pretty gas by then, at about eight, Martine,
he's asked.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
Him to leave, he did, Yeah, you have any trouble
with it? Just asked. He walked out for the other
two outside when he left.

Speaker 5 (03:58):
Yeah, stand on the sidewalk on the shove off.

Speaker 7 (04:00):
I call the cops.

Speaker 5 (04:01):
Old Scotch in the rocks he said for me to
go soak.

Speaker 8 (04:03):
My head, and I was going after him, and I
figured it wouldn't do no good, so I came back inside.

Speaker 5 (04:08):
A couple of minutes later, A nice guy banks thanks.

Speaker 8 (04:11):
Oh yeah, yeah, well he came in all beat up,
close to him, real mess, you know, big cut right
right along here for it, said he'd been robbed, wanted
me to call the cops.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
Had you ever seen either of the two men before?

Speaker 5 (04:23):
You mean Scotch in a rocks and grit, that's right, No, No,
I never did.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Where if you take a look at this description, see
if it's right here? Yeah? Sure, glad to help her.

Speaker 8 (04:33):
Yeah, yeah, it looks about right for anything you're going
to add to it. Now, there's a couple of guys
at the bottom and stand out.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Would you know him if you saw him again?

Speaker 8 (04:41):
Hard to say, you know what I mean? Yes, A
couple of guys came in order to drink nothing special.
I'm not sure I could point him out for you.
Anybody forget him?

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Not quite?

Speaker 7 (04:49):
Huh, we won't.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Eleven thirty am we left the bond, went back to
the City Hall, which check the Stat's office, and picked
up the results of their latest run. They listed four possibles,
but when we read the names we were no closer
to the hold up men than we had been. The
names were ones that we checked and cleared. Before Frank
and I went back to robbery, there was a message
for us to see Captain Donnah. Hope we went into
his office.

Speaker 4 (05:15):
Yeah no, as far as I know, there's nothing new
on us, that's right, Uh huh.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
They just came in.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
What all right? I'll let you know right away.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Yeah, bye, good on a.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
High skipper cap.

Speaker 4 (05:30):
That was Jepe Brown can call him all morning. Yeah,
you know what he wants? What do I tell him?

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Well, we talked to the bartender. He can't give us anything.

Speaker 4 (05:37):
What about the victim?

Speaker 2 (05:38):
Not much.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
They're either able to come up with a name.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
No, said he didn't hear anything.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
That's a big help.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Well so no, thank you, Figurette Yeah thanks, it's.

Speaker 4 (05:46):
Meth Yes, I got it. Thanks Joe from the beginning,
what do you got a good m good description.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
We got an idea of the line they're working and
that's about it. What about stats? Just picked up the
new run four names?

Speaker 4 (06:04):
What's on them?

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Clean? They all been checked before.

Speaker 4 (06:06):
Gotta be something around toll on him? Well, there should be,
but there just isn't. How about your informants.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
No, they haven't been able to tell us anything straight,
no reason they should lie.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
Victims and witnesses, seen the mug books, all we got.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
They haven't able to come up with an identification. Burton
up at CII said, all this stuff he's got in
the method of operation. We've checked it all through.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
What about the places they could spend the money?

Speaker 2 (06:26):
We've been in the Guardian the half a dozen times.
It's nothing out there.

Speaker 4 (06:29):
What about Vegas?

Speaker 2 (06:30):
Talked to the department over there. They're giving us all
the help they can, but they haven't turned anything yet.
We even't got the race tracks covered.

Speaker 4 (06:36):
Possibly you missed something, sure, it's possible.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
I don't know what it could be.

Speaker 6 (06:39):
You knew you wouldn't have missed it, you know from
the beginning, go over it, Okay, first report was.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
Made on I mean.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
Got it here.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
It is Tuesday, April twenty sixth. Victim came out of
the bar. Two men stopped him, started the conversation, got
him into a car, beat him and robbed him six
weeks ago. That's right, and the guy is still running.
The next one was on Friday, April twenty ninth, same memo,
save description.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
How often has been happening since MM?

Speaker 2 (07:08):
Couple of times a week.

Speaker 4 (07:09):
You can't find a leak, no sir, no rumbles, none that.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
We haven't run down anybody in the office got anything.
We talked to me and stromwell and I thought they
hadn't made for us. But the only didn't go any place.

Speaker 6 (07:19):
The money they're getting isn't sitting in their pockets being
spent someplace.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
We can't find the cash registry.

Speaker 4 (07:24):
I'll tell you this fella they nailed last night.

Speaker 6 (07:26):
What's his name, Tiffany Hanks. Yeah, well, he's got some
friends in the city hall. They're pretty upset about what happened.
Called the chief this morning. He's been on me. I'm
giving it to you. He won't be happy with excuses,
and I don't.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
Wanna give him any, So don't hand me any right,
boils down, simple, I don't care how you do it.
I don't care where. I just get it done. I
want those two men, and I want 'em fast.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
Right.

Speaker 4 (07:45):
I know how it is now?

Speaker 6 (07:46):
You do too, Yeah, sir, I don't like the pressure
any more than you do.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
We're getting it all the way around.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
People that are making them noise should follow us around
for a couple of days.

Speaker 4 (07:54):
That's the difference. They don't have to Huh, you're getting paid.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
Frank and I went over every piece of information we
had on the case.

Speaker 4 (08:03):
We re read the.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
Reports that had been filed by the officers at the scene.
Statements from witnesses and victims were gone over again. The
names of the stats officer had given us were run
through araw and I. Again. None of it did any good.
We still didn't have a lead to the identity of
the thieves. Three days passed while we talked to informants
and questioned other sources of information. On Sunday, June twelfth,
we got back to the office from talking to a

(08:25):
bartender out on the Olympic Boulevard. Well that's another one
didn't go any place. Yeah, you wanna get the book, Yeah, I.

Speaker 4 (08:32):
Think I got it.

Speaker 2 (08:37):

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Thank.

Speaker 4 (09:01):
I want to know if you could make.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
It for dinner tonight.

Speaker 4 (09:03):
Got a barbecue plan?

Speaker 2 (09:04):
You better call it off. You got other plans. That
was McCready on the phone. He just got a call
from a bartender out in wheelshir Yeah. Woman crying in
her beer, says he figured we want to check it out.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
What is it?

Speaker 2 (09:13):
She says, her boyfriend is one of our suspects.

Speaker 5 (09:15):
MM.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
The bar Sergeant Jack McCready had mentioned was on the
corner of Wilshire Boulevard and England Street. There were two
people in the place when we arrived, one an elderly
man sitting near the door, and the other a middle
aged woman at the rear.

Speaker 4 (09:29):
Of the bar.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
We checked with a bartender and he told us that
he'd made the call. He went on to say that
the woman had come in about ten that morning. Since
that time, she'd been crying and mumbling something about going
to the police.

Speaker 4 (09:40):
Thinking.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
I went back to talk to her.

Speaker 7 (09:47):
Yeah, what's up to it?

Speaker 2 (09:50):
Understand that you want to talk to the police. Got

you want it to me though you haven't caught Darwin none.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
What's he done?

Speaker 7 (10:31):

Speaker 2 (11:25):
Once you tell us about Derwin?

Speaker 7 (11:26):
It was lousy all the time talking about us. Someday
we'd get married, all the time, talking like that, I
got a couple of bucks, pull the wi will take
the big step as well? He was odd time saying
it's a big step.

Do you owe anything?

Speaker 7 (14:33):
No?

Speaker 4 (14:33):
Get out clean?

Speaker 2 (14:34):
I wonder if he stayed that way. Frank and I
left the bar and drove over to the Margot Street address.
We checked with the landlady. She told us the whole
book had moved in approximately six weeks before. She went
on to say that he'd been behind in his rent,
but that he'd paid what he owed and had given
her the money for an additional two months. She said

(14:56):
that she didn't know what he did for a living.
He had few visitors in the land that he couldn't
tell us if he owned a car. According to Herry,
was in his room Frank and I went up to
see him.

Speaker 4 (15:06):
Here it is, well, you said, what is there? Do one? Holbrook?

Speaker 3 (15:33):
Oh, go ahead, you won't find it.

Speaker 4 (15:35):
I'll tack it. Tell me what you want.

Speaker 3 (15:38):
Maybe I can give your hand.

Speaker 5 (15:39):
You just sit still there, Sure, I got nothing to
worry about.

Speaker 4 (15:41):
Tear the place apart. Just make sure you put it
all back right where you found it. Let's clean, John,
I could have told you that I show you. You
could might let me know why you're rousting me.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
You work for a living.

Speaker 4 (15:51):
Why do you know why we hear what? You're doing?

Speaker 2 (15:53):
Pretty well with the money. I guess you'd say, you
mind telling us where you got it?

Speaker 4 (15:57):
Why is investment? That's it?

Speaker 2 (15:59):
Huh?

Speaker 3 (15:59):
Sure?

Speaker 4 (16:00):
Differinancial page all the time.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
A couple of bucks here, a couple more of their
first thing?

Speaker 3 (16:03):
You know you're on your way to a million?

Speaker 4 (16:04):
Now?

Speaker 2 (16:04):
Well the way it came to us you might have
made the money the hard way.

Speaker 4 (16:06):
Whoever told you that's a liar?

Speaker 2 (16:07):
So sure, I got a pretty good idea.

Speaker 4 (16:10):
Who's got the big mountain? Don't make any difference.

Speaker 3 (16:13):
You can't tag me for anything.

Speaker 4 (16:14):
Why don't you tell us I will? You're beefing about
the money.

Speaker 5 (16:18):
Well, you can't say I didn't make it from investments.

Speaker 4 (16:21):
I don't have to prove it.

Speaker 8 (16:22):
You do.

Speaker 4 (16:23):
You get to prove I didn't make it from investing.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
I think we might be able to go ahead and
I'll give you something else what I don't think you're
gonna like the interest. We took Derwin Holbrook back to
the city Hall and talked to him for over an hour.
He refused to admit any part in the hold ups.
We made arrangements for the victims to come down and
see him. Witnesses were asked to special show ups, but

(16:45):
they failed to give us a positive identification. Pulbrook's name
came up on the overtime sheet and was released from custody.
There was nothing we could do. Another week went by it.
Pulbrook was kept on their constant surveillance. Monday, June twentieth,
Frank and I were in the squad room Smith.

Speaker 6 (17:00):
He ask for we're here, Hi, captain, what do you
got Your boys did another job last night out in
West la We didn't see the.

Speaker 1 (17:06):
Reports, just came in. Got a meeting with warm in
this afternoon. Peter Comic said, Yeah, victim died without.

Speaker 6 (17:12):
Regaining consciousness any descriptions to the suspect enough to notice
the two fellows you're after.

Speaker 4 (17:17):
I was your hot suspect which his name Holbrook? Con
sorry be able to keep him this time?

Speaker 2 (17:21):
No, I don't think so.

Speaker 4 (17:22):
It's the matter.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
Report says a hold up took place at ten fifteen.

Speaker 4 (17:25):
Yeah, Holbrook was asleep at nine.

Speaker 2 (17:35):
We rechecked with the team of men who had been
keeping Drwin Holbrook under surveillance. They verified the fact that
the suspect had been in his room at the time
of the robbery, and that there was no way for
him to have left the apartment. We went out to
the hospital and talked to the officer that had been
with the latest victim. He said that the dead man
hadn't said anything to help identify as assailant. We talked
with the bartender earth the place where the beating had occurred.

(17:56):
He remembered two men in the bar, and he remembered
them talking with a victim, but he was unable to
tell us anything more. Additional broadcasts were gotten out. At
the meeting with Captain Lahman, it was decided that from
that point the investigation would be a joint operation between
robbery and homicide. After the meeting, Frank, Captain Donaho and
I met back in Rome twenty seven.

Speaker 4 (18:15):
Come about in that's it out?

Speaker 3 (18:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (18:20):
Well you've heard it, And how are you gonna work it?

Speaker 2 (18:22):
There's only one way rolling stakeout.

Speaker 4 (18:24):
I thought you tried that route.

Speaker 6 (18:26):
This time we use more cars, better work this latest
one's really got the corner pocket screaming. How are you
gonna set it up?

Speaker 2 (18:32):
Well? At job out in West LA's the first time
he's moved out of Central. I think we can figure
we'll be back.

Speaker 4 (18:37):
That's playing it the long way.

Speaker 2 (18:38):
There's nothing left.

Speaker 4 (18:40):
I'll buy it. How's it gonna work?

Speaker 2 (18:42):
Yeah, let me take a look at the maple he's
been hitting in this area along here up to now,
we've had it covered him through here and here. Now
we can put additional cars on these streets and maybe
over here.

Speaker 4 (18:56):
Huh, how about a check system?

Speaker 2 (18:58):
It'll be kind of hard to work out, skipper. We'll
be in a three way car recreating. This partner will
be in one, and that way we can keep cabs
on what's going on when you start. If we can
swing it tonight, talk to McCready. No, not the whole
thing went over part of it.

Speaker 4 (19:10):
What's he think he goes with us?

Speaker 2 (19:12):
It's the only way then.

Speaker 4 (19:13):
It better come through for you, hoom. You don't get
another chance.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
At seven twenty that night, the rolling stakeout began. It
continued for another week. Several arrests were made, but when
the suspects were checked, they were ruled out as the
ones that we were looking for. In the meantime, the
hold up men hit twice more in the area. Under surveillance,
bartenders started closing their places. Early, pressure from citizens groups
and newspapers got a little worse. Apparently there was nothing

(19:42):
we could do to stop the thieves. Tuesday, June twenty eighth,
we stopped for some lead.

Speaker 5 (19:48):
Now that's gonna be another long night, and I hope
we get.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
Something out of it.

Speaker 4 (19:52):
Yeah, hright, Feller's fun to be m well.

Speaker 2 (19:56):
A couple leggs over easy, I get it. The side
order of bacon.

Speaker 4 (20:01):
Well, thank you, how about you? That sounds good, Joe.

Speaker 3 (20:03):
I'll have the same.

Speaker 4 (20:04):
Only make my eggs straight up for you, and I'll
have a side order of ham right over.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
Two coffee, bring read away, sure thing.

Speaker 4 (20:11):
I'll get him for you right now.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
And I got to get home.

Speaker 4 (20:13):
I'll have a cup of coffee.

Speaker 3 (20:15):
I'll drop you off. My wife's gonna be sore if
and i'll make it pretty quick.

Speaker 4 (20:18):
I'll let her be sore. That's the trouble with women today,
all the time trying to run our lives. It's right,
have your coffee, we'll leave. My friend. You'll like him.

Speaker 3 (20:24):
I feel so good. Maybe I'll to leave now.

Speaker 4 (20:26):
Look, you'll be all right.

Speaker 5 (20:27):
Just take it easy, John, tall guy, it's a description.

Speaker 7 (20:31):
Click.

Speaker 4 (20:31):
You might be setting one. Now let's take it.

Speaker 3 (20:35):
Life. You any trouble, stay with us, some new one.

Speaker 2 (20:40):
What if you let us take a look at your identification?

Speaker 4 (20:42):
Why? Because I ask you who? You a police officer? Wat?

Speaker 2 (20:58):
Come on, come on here, shove me around.

Speaker 3 (21:03):
I'll tell this so bob, we didn't do nothing, and
don't worry about it. You got nothing to hold me on.

Speaker 4 (21:07):
Nothing.

Speaker 2 (21:08):
We'll talk about it downtown. Come on, let's go what's
the charge.

Speaker 3 (21:10):
You gotta make one.

Speaker 4 (21:11):
Come on, you gotta make a charge.

Speaker 3 (21:12):
You can't take me without it.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
But I try. Suspicion of robbery not for me. You
keep believing I thought I will.

Speaker 3 (21:17):
You're out on a limb.

Speaker 4 (21:18):
Cop, you got nothing.

Speaker 3 (21:19):
I'll be free in a couple hours.

Speaker 2 (21:21):
You got it wrong.

Speaker 3 (21:22):
Tell me about it.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
We won't have to. We'll let the jury do it.
We took the suspect back to the city hall. He
was identified as Emmit Noonan. He refused to admit any
part in the hold ups. He wouldn't tell us who
the friend was that he'd mentioned to the intended victim.
A check of R and I revealed that he'd serve
sentences at San Quentin and at Fulsom for armed robbery.

(21:45):
We pulled his mugshot and a team of detectives went
out to check with the victims. It was an hour
before they got back to the office. We talked to him,
and then we went to see Noonan.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
You said to turn me out now, No, not quite.

Speaker 10 (21:57):
When are you gonna give up the cop? You got
nothing to make it, John, you know it. I don't
know how long you want to play this game. And
I'd like to get home, get some sleep.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
We just got word from the officers to check your
picture with a victim.

Speaker 6 (22:06):
Yeah, I gave us a positive identification.

Speaker 3 (22:09):
Nothing different about me. Lots of guys look the same.

Speaker 2 (22:11):
Why don't you come off a noon? We got your
maid and you know it.

Speaker 3 (22:13):
I don't know anything of the kind. Cup. You're just
saying one thing I say different. It's my word against
you is we'll see who the court believes.

Speaker 4 (22:18):
We got a head start.

Speaker 3 (22:19):
How do you figure that?

Speaker 2 (22:20):
It's the way you work.

Speaker 10 (22:22):
Any record I got, you can't mention in court as
far as they're concerned, I'm clean.

Speaker 3 (22:28):
I want to call it to day. We can all
get some sleep. What do you do for a living?
I'm a salesman.

Speaker 4 (22:32):
What do you sell?

Speaker 3 (22:33):
Different things? Name them magazine? Sometimes those are you different things?
When's the last time you worked six months ago?

Speaker 2 (22:40):
How have you lived since then? I saved my money.
You know you're in for more than a robbery charge.
And I'm not standing That man out in West la died.
It's too bad I didn't see anything about it in
the paper. Is the only way I don't know.

Speaker 3 (22:52):
Who's the guy with you on the jobs? I don't
know what you're talking about.

Speaker 4 (22:55):
You know we'll get to them. Why not save yourself?

Speaker 2 (22:57):
A lot of times I.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
Don't know nothing of the kind. You guys are out
of your skulls.

Speaker 2 (23:00):
All right, let's go now.

Speaker 3 (23:01):
Are you gonna unlock to do them?

Speaker 4 (23:02):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (23:02):
This one where we're going.

Speaker 2 (23:04):
Maine jail for how long until they pass sentence?

Speaker 3 (23:07):
You sound pretty sure they are.

Speaker 4 (23:08):
Come on, it's too bad about you guys. What's that?

Speaker 3 (23:12):
How long you've been working on these robberies?

Speaker 4 (23:14):
A couple of months?

Speaker 3 (23:15):
And I'm your pigeon.

Speaker 4 (23:16):
You're the man.

Speaker 10 (23:17):
Let's make you feel kind of lousy, be so sure,
and then find out you're wrong.

Speaker 3 (23:21):
You know, if I keep my mouth shut, you want
can have a case?

Speaker 2 (23:24):
You know how I'm going to tell you real simple.
We can identify you positively. We got a dozen people
are going to get up on a standing point you
out as a man who knock them down and walked
on them. The time we get through with you will
have enough on you for a five minute deliberation.

Speaker 10 (23:35):
You're ruling out one thing Copyah, what's that the jury?
All I need is one person who won't go with
the rest of them, one who doesn't listen, you got
it all figured out. Yeah, one person doesn't care. I
got it made just one.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
Well, then you're in real trouble.

Speaker 4 (23:48):
Huh.

Speaker 1 (23:48):
We'll find twelve who do The story you have just
heard is true. The names were changed to protect the innocent.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
