Scrupulosity Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is already complicated enough before you consider that it isn't much of a stretch for the OCD sufferer to develop complicated feelings towards their faith.
In my journey with Scrupulosity OCD, I've asked myself questions like:
- If I wasn't raised in a religious household, would I still have developed OCD?
- Is it worth it to remain an active member of my religion?
- Is my religion making my OCD worse?
It's painful to consider the idea that maybe I wouldn't have suffered so much if I was not a religious person. Plus, these questions have led me to compulsively avoid religion, and then fall into a hole of doubt and questioning everything about my faith.
How do you go about processing this? In this episode, we'll talk about:
- People who were raised in Athiest households have still developed Scrupulosity OCD
- Even though religion isn't to blame for the existence of Scrupulosity OCD, that doesn't mean it isn't okay to develop complicated feelings about your faith
- The mourning involved in healing from Scrupulosity OCD
- Three ways I am working through these feelings
