Speaker 1 (00:00):
Texas Congressman Keith self is here to bring us up
to speed on the shutdown with Schumer, plus, we will
take a deep look into the safety of America's skies
following the vaccine mandate Dei hires and this current shutdown
a lot has put air traffic controllers in a real
tough situation, and we may be close to a major
breaking point. Kamala Harris thinks she's running for president again.

(00:23):
We sure hope she is. Will break down the prospects
with Katie Zachariah, and we've got the latest on the
US standoff with China. A senior Department of Homeland Security
official also joins the show. In the wake of rising
violence against ice and polaritization of federal emergency management response.
It's all next on a crowded episode of The Matt
Gaids Show. Let's do this shaking up Washington, d C.

(00:46):
We're breaking the fever.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Do you haven't watch this guy on television.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
It's like a machine. He's great. Matt Gates as we
join you this evening because skies are in danger, air
traffic controllers are missing their first paycheck, and people are
wondering what is the breaking point. Are we close to
a crash, a collision in air, maybe even worse if

(01:13):
critical infrastructure is destroyed by falling objects from the sky.
This is happening because of a confluence of events, and
that all culminates in the Schumer shutdown because Democrats want
an additional one point five trillion dollars in spending on
top of Biden's spending levels, and a good amount of
that money will go to healthcare for illegal aliens, which

(01:33):
is stone called nuts. So while Washington bickers, the Democrats
who won't open the government are making America less safe
on a variety of fronts. Are military funding, grants to
state and local law enforcement, even planes potentially falling out
of the sky. Will new air traffic controllers be working
before they have sufficient experience for the jobs they are doing.

(01:56):
Statements from Transportation Secretary have me concerned.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
We have really old infrastructure in America. It hasn't been
updated in the last thirty forty years. This should have
been dealt with in the last administration. They did nothing.
So the primary communication line went down, the backup line
didn't fire, and so for thirty seconds we lost contact
with with aircraft.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Problem it is we lost contact because the backup line
didn't fire. We've been worried about the status of air
safety for some time. This summer, even John Oliver pointed
to glaring problems that have been building for many years.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
And when he say all of this together, aging technology
and trumbling facilities full of people who are understandably burned out,
it is just asking for trouble.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
I'm about to show you a clip of a discussion
between myself and doctor Darren Beatty from when Biden was president.
Doctor Beatty is currently a high ranking official in the
Trump administration's State Department, but as a journalist, he covered
how the Biden administration used DEI rather than MERIT to
select air traffic controllers. It is a perfect storm of

(03:02):
danger because on one hand, whether it was the vax mandates,
whether it was the hiring freeze, or frankly, whether it
was just the cultural adoption of working from home, it
hollowed out all this experience that we had. These experienced
air traffic controllers would leave for one reason or another,

(03:23):
and then the backfill or all these DEI hires who
didn't have to do the rigorous MERIT based testing in
all exactly.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
The pilots saying they're trying to kill us. And the
thing is, there's like an implicit hierarchy.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
There's a chain of command.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
You're supposed to listen to the air traffic controllers, but
the confidence that the pilots have in the air traffic
controllers is absolutely diminishing, and justifiably so.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
President Biden drove thousands of good people out of air
traffic control as a profession with the vax mandate. Then
Biden buddhaj Edge took the DEI higher off the street
that didn't have to do the same test and put
them in these critical positions. They cared more about racial
quotas than whether planes ran into each other. Controllers are

(04:08):
facing fatigue, long hours, and merging duties due to understaffing,
and when US air travel is blooming as it has
over the last fifty years, we could clearly observe that
technology hasn't kept up. At Newark Airport, outages were recently
literally attributed to the fact that this copper wire from
decades ago couldn't handle the volume of incoming data. Even

(04:32):
before the shutdown, major airports were already cutting flights due
to capacity constraints tied to these staffing issues. United cut
thirty five daily flights into Newark for this very reason
back in May. Even Air Force one is not immune
from confusion in the sky. Just listen to this frustrated
air traffic controller sculled a Spirit Airlines pilot for failing

(04:56):
to adhere to key safety instructions repeatedly while he was
near the President's.

Speaker 5 (05:00):
Playing Fare at thirteen hundred, turn twenty degrees right, back
to traffic and defense. Pay attention, spear at thirteen hundred,
turn twenty degrees right. You're at thirteen hundred and twenty
degrees right now, speir Wing thirteen hundred, turn twenty degrees
right immediately twenty degrees right, Speer Wings, thirteen hundred. Pay attention,
Delta twenty nine fifty one Boston Center one three four

(05:21):
point zero fare thirteen hundred. Traffics off your left wing
by six miles or eight miles seven forty seven. I'm
sure you can see who it is. If fightable three
two zero, maintain three three zero, I'll keep an eye
off for him. He's white and blue. They are thirteen
hundred Boston Center one three four point zero. I gotta
talk to you twice every time. Spear at thirteen hundred
Boston one three four point zero pay attention, get off

(05:44):
the iPad.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
So we aren't just buying time here, or are we?
I mean, there is a mass casualty event that could
involve America's skuys quite soon. Is Chuck Schumer willing to
inconvenience or endanger America's passengers just to win plal points
joining us?

Speaker 6 (06:01):
Now?

Speaker 1 (06:01):
Retired Air Force lieutenant colonel, former commercial airline pilot, my
friend David Schoul Dave, As you see the news of
air traffic controllers not getting paid, not showing up for work,
of flights getting grounded, what's your reaction.

Speaker 7 (06:16):
Well, Matt As, I'm amazed that things are going as
well as they are. My wife and I we just
returned from a trip overseas on Tuesday and it went
like clockwork. But then, just like what you saw out
on the West Coast this weekend, we're starting to see
disruptions in the system. And you know, you remember back

(06:38):
in twenty eighteen when you were in the Congress, we
had a thirty five day shutdown, and what we're seeing
now is almost a carbon copy of what we saw
back then. I mean, you remember leading into this Sean
Duffy was banging the drum every day. So we have
thirteen thousand air traffic controllers. We need thirty five hundred more.

(07:00):
He was doing everything he could get more people into
the pipeline. He was looking at the training program, can
we streamline it and still maintain quality? When he was
doing an outstanding job. But as a result of that shortage,
what were we seeing. We were seeing controllers already worked
as much as they could possibly be worked mandatory over time.

(07:21):
They were seeing six apps, you know, six day a
week was the norm for their duty week. So now
you throw in the fact that we have a government shutdown.
So now these individuals, we're asking them to come in
and work for no pay. Tomorrow is going to be
day twenty eight. Tomorrow's going to be the first day
that they will not get a paycheck. So we're asking

(07:44):
a lot of these individuals. You look at your you know,
let's look at a brand new aviation controller. They've just
finished ninety to one hundred and twenty days of training
at the FA facility out in Oklahoma City. They're fully trained.
Now they're on They may or may not have a
sixth month rainy day fund so now these individuals have

(08:07):
to come to work tomorrow. They're not getting paid. They
got to make the rent, they got to pay their mortgage,
they got to keep their utilities on. They're just like
you and I. They got to put food on the table.
But we're asking them to come to work and put
all that stress aside. The system was already stressed with
the mandatory overtime and the six days a week, and

(08:27):
now we're adding this additional burden. I'm amazed that it's
worked as well as it has, and hats off to
the individuals out in the Oakland and the LA Airspace.
Sunday morning, eight am LA Airport, that's a busy time.
Your Sunday is one of your biggest travel days of
the week. And the professionals out there working with the

(08:49):
FA said, we're at max capacity, so they put in
the ground stop. So you saw an hour and a
half of flights being controlled coming into the LA Airport.
The LA Airport, it's number three in the world in
terms of being the busiest airport, eight million passengers a year,
and now normally in that little ten mile ring around

(09:10):
their airspace, you're dealing with fifty aircraft movements and it's NonStop.
It never goes up, never goes down. You know, you
don't have minor deviations. But it's a very busy air space.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
And let me ask you this question, you know, because
when you're saying this, Dave, I'm thinking about the people
who are currently in training, and I'm wondering if they're
going to keep coming back if they think, gosh, you know,
if I continue this training, there might not be a
paycheck waiting for me. You could really disrupt that pipeline.
But I think there are some viewers who will look
at this and say, well, isn't that all just kind
of run by computers anyway? You know, how important is

(09:43):
the actual human being? So maybe give us a sense
of the role of that human in the loop from
the standpoint of pilots like yourself moving about the sky.

Speaker 7 (09:53):
Sure, anybody that's spent time in an air traffic control tower,
that's a very busy air very busy works space. So
my time was spent up in the Atlanta tower and
here at the tower at Eggline Air Force Space. So
you're going to have anywhere from four to eight individuals
working in there together, and for that they're on a
forty five minute to a sixty minute workshift, and it's NonStop,

(10:16):
especially during the daytime peak hours, so they're constantly moving
aircraft on the ground. The ground controller will hand them
off to the to the tower controller. The tower control
will hand that individual off to the departure quarter and
then it'll go to the nearby ATC facilities that will
take them in the airspace, you know, five thousand feet

(10:38):
and above. But it is non stop chatter. It's a
NonStop routine and it never never slows down. So to
ask these individuals, hey, when you come to work and
you check in, just put all that, put all your
concerns aside, you know, don't worry about you know, can
you afford your rent, Don't worry about your utilities, don't

(10:58):
worry about you know, your to rebuild this week. Don't
worry about your family. The FAA and the military, we're
asking them to come to work every day. I just
got off the phone with my son active duty Air Force.
Are you getting a check tomorrow? I guess, man, I
don't know. So we're asking a lot of these individuals,
and I'm amazed that the system has worked as well

(11:19):
as it has up till now. But what we're seeing,
like we saw in twenty eighteen fifteen to twenty percent
increase in sickouts. And that's normal. These people are stressed,
and you know, I think it's it's a testament to
the professionalism of our FAAATC system and the individual and

(11:40):
the caliber of the individual we have work in our
towers and in our Heltader Aerospace.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
Talk to us a little bit about the way this
would go wrong if those real life concerns manifested and
fatigue that impacted job performance. So we are we talking
about problems on the ground, problems in the air. Where
is the place you look at the system and say, gosh,
that could be a real stress point.

Speaker 7 (12:07):
Yes to all the above. And we've been fortunate the
fall here in America. We get some of the best
weather we've had all year round, so we haven't had
any winter weather that's coming. Now you throw in let's go,
you know, snow in Boston, snow in Denver, low visibility
out on the West coast. Like you said, where's it

(12:29):
going to happen? Is it going to be a ground incident,
Is it going to be departure? Is it going to
be a rival? Could be any one of those when
you're dealing with heavy snow and limited visibility. Let's say
up in Boston, you could have a problem on the
ground with aircraft bumping into one another. We've seen that.
Then you're dealing with aircraft coming in Boston, high turnover

(12:52):
rate in terms of arrivals and departures. You have aircraft
that mistaking runway. I got an aircraft let's say he
gets thinks he's cleared into position and he's not. Another
aircraft coming into land could see something like that. We
could see an arrival and departure aircraft coming into a conflict.
And right now it's pressed to test on this system.

(13:14):
But we're asking so much out of our air traft
controllers and like we're giving them a lot astraction and
it's a high stress environment to begin with, and I
think now we're just making it worse.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
I know you also, in addition to being an aviation expert,
you follow politics and government quite closely. What do you
think it says about Chuck Schumer and the Senate Democrats
that they're willing to stress the system over a political point.

Speaker 7 (13:40):
You look at what's going on here, and they're primarily
they're worried about Obamacare now that was sold to us
back in twenty ten, and whether it's properly funded. Obamacare
was supposed to bring in all, you know, bring insurance down.
It was going to take care of that. Well, now
they're asking for an additional almost over a trillion dollars
and funding Where does that come from? You know, just

(14:03):
like our controllers that aren't getting paid tomorrow, they don't
have the option of going and open cranking up the
printing machine, and they're asking for an additional trillion dollars.
We're thirty seven trillion in the hole and they want
to throw another trillion in there, just to go on
top of the one point seven trillion that we're currently
in deficit. To me, obviously, they're not being realistic in

(14:28):
terms of the threat that they're putting upon the American people.
If something catastrophic happens in the aviation world, it's going
to be on them. It's not going to be on
the FA and the ATC controllers because we're asking everything
we can out of them, and up until now they've delivered.
But in aviation, all it takes is one break in
the chain and then you're going to have a major

(14:50):
catastrophic accident, and then you and I will be here
discussing that versus discussing just the overall safety of the environment.
We're running on borrowed time, and it's time for the
individuals in the Senate. We only need five votes, so
we're just asking five votes, and we can pay our people,
we can pay our military, we can pay our ATC controllers.

(15:12):
Give us time to negotiate. And for the what twelve
thirteen times they said, no, you've been in that position
before in Washington.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
Yeah, you can't put the country through that. You can't
put the country through this without an exit ramp. And endlessly,
there has to be an end to this, and we
hope that end is coming. Dave Schul, retired Lieutenant colonel
in the Air Force, former commercial airline pilot and proud
dad of one of Northwest Florida's finants currently serving our country.
Thanks for coming on the program and sharing your expertise.

Speaker 7 (15:41):
Well, speaking of proud dads, we're proud of you, Matt,
and best to yours fam.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
Oh, thank you so much. We'll catch up soon. Coming up.
Kamala Harris believes she might be running for president in
twenty twenty eight. Katie Zachariah has been watching her record
closely in California, and she'll respond next.

to seven Twitter like social media replacement. We're calling it
free Talk forty five. So why is it branded free
Talk forty five? Well, free talk because you will not
be censored for expressing your opinion there, and forty five

(16:52):
because forty five is a really lucky number. So join
us at free Talk forty five and express yourself with
no fear of cancelation. Ever, Hey, if your cable provider
doesn't offer One America News Network, you should give them

this country for One America News Network. So please call
your cable company today and kindly ask or demand that
they add OANN to their channel lineup.

Speaker 1 (17:37):
Hey, everyone, here's a question for you.

Speaker 8 (17:39):
What does Roku TV, Apple TV, and Amazon fireTV all
have in common? The answer is that all three platforms
offer you the ability to live stream One America News
Network from your Roku TV, Apple TV.

Speaker 1 (17:53):
Or Amazon Fire device.

Speaker 8 (17:56):
Simply go to the app store search out FORAAN, then
enjoy all the great programming offered by Alien, including my
show Real America.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
Don't look now, but Kamala Harris actually thinks she's running
for president for a third time.

Speaker 9 (18:18):
When are they going to see a woman in charge
in the White House in their lifetime?

Speaker 4 (18:22):
For sure? Could it be you?

Speaker 9 (18:25):
Possibly? You say in your book, I'm not done. That
is correct. I am not done.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
When I heard the news, I thought it must have
been a dream. Would Democrats really renominate one of the
worst candidates in the history of presidential campaigns? Remember when
Joe Biden aimlessly wandered off the presidential stage. The media
made Kamala Harris something like the political merger of Michelle
Obama and Oprah, the reality was much different. Despite being

(18:53):
endlessly glazed by the media, heralded by celebrities, and ahead
by a whopping five points according to an October roober
marist pole, she bombed on election day, demoralizing her own
voters and losing the popular vote and electoral college in
a modern day landslide. So run it back, baby. I
am unburdened by what has been when it comes to

(19:14):
Kamala Harris's political comebacks. I think it is time for
the Democrats to again embrace the candidate who opened the
border and massively contributed to inflation and even backed taxpayer
voted sex changes for illegal aliens in prison. Run Kamala run.
I even hope she picks Tim Wallas for her running
mate again. Equity demands it. In fact, if Democrat voters

(19:37):
select Gavin Newsom or JB. Pritzker over Kamala Harris, then
it is clearly dispositive proof that they are racist, sexist
or both joining us now. General Counsel of Fixed California,
Katie Zachariah, So, Katie, what was your reaction when you
heard Kamala says she might be the first female president.

Speaker 6 (19:55):
Truthfully, Matt, I'm pretty excited if she wants to run,
because all it means is victim across the boards for Republicans.

Speaker 9 (20:02):
Again.

Speaker 6 (20:02):
She is a failed candidate and will continue to be
a failed presidential candidate.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
What do you think were the core problems with her
prior to presidential campaigns?

Speaker 6 (20:12):
Well, let's as we look at the record now, the
record she set as quote vice president, what did she
actually do?

Speaker 9 (20:20):
She didn't really have anything to run on.

Speaker 6 (20:22):
She ran on a botched and doctored sixty minute interview
that they're paying large finds for now. She ran on
a and she said in her interview, Matt, she said
that she doesn't like to pay attention to polls. Though
Anne Seltzer in Iowa is now being held responsible for
the fake polling that was done to lift her up
in her track record as the borders are we're suffering

(20:43):
the consequences of that today and the ensuing ice raids
that President Trump is having to clean up the mess
of law breaking. So the failed presidential campaign of Kamala
Harris Round one is that she doesn't actually have a
track record before as Attorney General of California, as Senator
from California and as also as DA of San Francisco,

(21:05):
all failed states in cities as you know living here now, Matt.

Speaker 9 (21:08):
And then for her term as vice president, what did
she actually do?

Speaker 6 (21:11):
She was a failed borderzar and had no policies to
uphold herself on.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
Yeah, you just gave us a beautiful walk through the
opposition research book on Kamala Harris in the last campaign.
But I actually think there's a new vulnerability. Like if
I was running inast Kamala Harris, I would just turn
around and say, why did you lie to us about
Biden's health? Well, when she was campaigning before, there was
this veil that Biden, you know, may have stepped away
just you know, to pass the torch or do the

(21:38):
right thing. But there's been so much that has come
out about how that guy was just completely out of
it and she was supposed to be his number two.
Do you think that would be a new vulnerability that
she would have to answer for in twenty twenty eight
that she didn't even have to answer for as much
last time.

Speaker 6 (21:52):
Absolutely, Matt, because she had a constitutional duty under the
twenty fifth Amendment as vice president to actually say that
Joe Biden could not exercise his duties as president of
the United States.

Speaker 9 (22:05):
And this is not just a decision that she could make.
Willie Nelly.

Speaker 6 (22:08):
Did he have cognitive decline that she was aware of,
and it was incumbent upon her then to ensure that
for the safety of the American people and as her
constitutional duty, that she would protect us, but she failed
to do so.

Speaker 9 (22:21):
So you're absolutely right. We know that.

Speaker 6 (22:24):
Joe Biden had cognitive decline. This is not some conspiracy
theory at this point. But also we could even point
to his prostate cancer that is well developed that we're
sure she knew of and didn't let anyone know, So
huge vulnerability.

Speaker 9 (22:38):
There, Matt.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
I don't know how much she knew about his prostate,
but his mental state was like no doubt on display
daily and I think it shows a lack of sincerity.
And I think that was also core to her demise,
was that people just kind of looked at her and
didn't believe any of it was real. But now you
have Gavin Newsome running for president, Rocanna is running for
President's Californians running for president. Do you think what advice

(23:03):
would you give Republicans nationally looking at these three Californians
who want to occupy the Oval Office.

Speaker 6 (23:11):
Well, it is a race to the bottom as between
Gavin Newsom and Kamala Harris. And you can tell that
in our one hundred and seven Days book, right, she
knew Gavin Newsom didn't have her back. She kind of
knew Barack Obama was a little bit iffy. She calls
them out, she calls the DNC, which by the way,
is still paying back her one point five billion dollar

(23:32):
campaign fees that she spent in fifteen weeks.

Speaker 9 (23:35):
So I think let.

Speaker 6 (23:36):
Them eat each other alive, because Gavin Newsom's policies, again,
he has nothing to stand on and.

Speaker 9 (23:42):
Kamala Harris has nothing to stand on.

Speaker 6 (23:44):
But if we allow them to attack each other and
allow them to expose this for us, I think the
campaign is essentially one for us, don't you.

Speaker 1 (23:51):
Met Well, I think Kamala Harris would definitely win in
a fight against Gavin news I don't know about an election,
but in a fight, I've got Kamala over over new
Some who on our side do you think matches up
a best against who the Democrats are putting up, Well.

Speaker 9 (24:06):
We have the obvious kind of JD.

Speaker 6 (24:09):
Bans although President Trump voiced today on Air Force One
in Japan that he would love a shot at a
third term, and of course I would love to see
President Trump again as his constitutionally permissionble and you have.

Speaker 9 (24:22):
Jad Bans and then you have a Marco Rubio.

Speaker 6 (24:23):
But honestly, of all of these people that are on
the field outside of a President Trump, between you know,
JD and Marco, look, I think that you allow these
people to eat themselves and it's likely going to result
in more unity in the Republican Party, which the Democrats
can't stand right now because that's that used to be

(24:43):
their stronghold and they're completely eviscerated and have gone full
blown communist as we saw with Bernie Sanders and AOC
and mom Doni Mandani last night and the Communists, you
know party in New York. So look, I think that
we let them just ebyserate each other, Matt, because they're
just going to tank.

Speaker 9 (25:04):
There's literally nothing.

Speaker 6 (25:06):
And as a Californian, I'm a native Californian, Matt, I
can tell you right here and now, Gavin Newsom, I
don't know how to say it any nice, like he
has destroyed our state and he continues to destroy our
state and Kamala's as attorney general.

Speaker 9 (25:21):
I want people to really go back and look at
that track record. You know, this track record.

Speaker 6 (25:26):
She was so soft on crime and then you know,
and punished marijuana offenses and then let out really really
violent criminals and are today our streets are suffering from it.
Our home was broken into in Brentwood largely because of
Kamala Harris's policies.

Speaker 9 (25:44):
As Attorney general.

Speaker 6 (25:45):
So I'm sick and tired of the California Democrats.

Speaker 1 (25:47):
Matt Yeah, most likely to ruin a state, Gavin Newsom
most likely to win a fight, Kamala Harris, most likely
to eat the competition. JB. Pritzker. I'm glad we've been
able to break it all down for everybody. Katie Zacharia,
one of the leaders of Fixed California, here to warn
the rest of us. Appreciate you coming on the program.
Thank you, Matt and coming up. Congressman Keith self brings
us up to date on the latest negotiations over the

(26:09):
current government shutdown. What will it mean for safety, security,
and the future of the American economy? Don't go anywhere?

Speaker 8 (26:20):
Hey, did you know that one America news network has
launched a twenty four to seven Twitter like social media replacement.
We're calling it free Talk forty five. So why is

Speaker 8 (27:42):
Simply go to the app store search out forn, then
enjoy all the great programming offered byn, including my show
Real America. Viewers are always asking me how can they
watch OAN live?

Speaker 1 (27:59):
The solution is simple.

Speaker 8 (28:01):
It's a streaming platform called cloud tv now it's spelled
klowd TV. Simply go to cloudtv dot com and subscribe
to watch twenty four to seven live feeds of OAN.
The live package is only two dollars and fifty cents
per month for all you can watch. Again, simply go

(28:22):
to cloudtv dot com and do it today.

Speaker 1 (28:31):
We head now to our coverage of Capitol Hill. Senate
Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer has kept the government shut down. Meanwhile,
House Republicans are moving about the country. They haven't returned
to DC to negotiate ancillary policy matters, instead demanding that
Schumer pass a continuing resolution first. That resolution would simply
advance the monetary levels and spending and policy negotiated by

(28:54):
Joe Biden, so it's not like it's some massive win
for cost cutters. We wanted to check in on how
some of the most concers conservative members of the House
are thinking about the current state of play. Joining us
now and outstanding Congressman from Texas Keith Self, a congressman,
bring us up to speed. Was there any talk of
a deal over the weekend or anything that would end
the shutdown. Absolutely not mad not that I know of.

Speaker 10 (29:17):
If they're cutting a backroom deal, I wouldn't know it,
but not that I know of, and I certainly hope not.
This is we passed what is essentially a Democrat cr
Biden policies, Biden's spending two years ago, in order to
keep spending flat.

Speaker 1 (29:32):
Let's hold the line, let's stay where we are. Do
you think Republicans will have to do something on healthcare
to get out of this? There are some voices within
the caucus suggesting that I worry that it rewards hostage taking,
But what do you think? That's exactly right?

Speaker 10 (29:48):
And I will tell you President Trump is staying solid
and the Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Bessen is holding solid.
Now that gives a lot of cover to the leader
in the Senate majority and the Speaker of the House.
So I am fairly confident for the time being they're going.

Speaker 1 (30:05):
To hold fast. We're very worried about aviation safety, seeing
these reports of air traffic controllers not showing up to work.
If this thing goes on for weeks more, what are
some of your worries when it comes to safety and
security of the American people.

Speaker 10 (30:22):
They're calling for ground stops, ground delays. In fact, we
just heard that DFW and the one that I.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
Fly in and out of just had a ground delay.
So the FAA is.

Speaker 10 (30:34):
Being very careful to stop it when they fall below
a manning level. But yeah, you remember the Democrat aid
that said they're not going to budge until planes start
falling out of the air. So I don't want that
to happen. We don't need to get to that. Public
safety ought to be number one, and we need to
get the air traffic controllers back on the job, whether

(30:56):
it's a standalone bill or whether we saw this shut.

Speaker 1 (31:00):
You mentioned standalone bills. You know, I wonder, Congressman, would
it be better to have the House back in session,
passing a bill for the air traffic controllers, passing a
bill to fund our troops, passing a bill on the border,
showing some action to put pressure on the Democrats, because
it seems, based on my conversations, that the Speaker is
going to have you guys out of Washington until Schumer

(31:23):
ultimately folds.

Speaker 10 (31:25):
Well, we are standing with the Speaker on his decision,
but you're right that was a decision made by the
leadership that that's where we're going to do in order
to put pressure on the Democrats. Your solution, the one
that you just mentioned, would also be a solution, but
it's not the one the leader the leadership has chosen.
So right now we're standing with the leadership.

Speaker 1 (31:46):
But I love to.

Speaker 10 (31:47):
Put pressure on the Democrats any way we can, whether
it's staying out or going back and passing a bill.
Every day, I want to exert the most pressure I
can on the Democrats.

Speaker 1 (31:58):
I think one thing is likely to put pressure on
Democrats is the realization that forty two million people may
be about to go without snap benefits. That will get
the phone calls coming into a lot of constituent service offices.
But one thing that also I've observed is that I
can't find a single poll where the people are appropriately

(32:20):
blaming the Democrats for having done this. We've got a
Quinnipiac poll that shows more folks actually blaming Republicans than Democrats.
Do you think, congressmen that the current plan to stay
out has worked? And if more folks are blaming Republicans, now,
how can we get the message out that this was
a decision of Chuck Schumer's.

Speaker 10 (32:42):
Well, Frankly, I don't really watch nationwide polls because we
are districts until the purple districts start saying something because
my district, all I get feedback from my base is
that hold the line. But once we start seeing the
purple districts polls from the purple districts, then I might

(33:03):
start paying attention to them, because, as you know, the
big blue cities in red states control everything.

Speaker 1 (33:09):
So one I don't.

Speaker 10 (33:10):
Trust those poles, and two, the leadership has got their pulse,
their finger on this pulse. So for the time being,
and I think, Matt, the pressure is going to ramp
up this week because of what you just said.

Speaker 1 (33:26):
Snap.

Speaker 10 (33:27):
But why do we have forty one million people on foodstamps,
on Supplemental Nutrition Systems program?

Speaker 1 (33:34):
Forty one million people?

Speaker 10 (33:35):
That's twelve percent of our population?

Speaker 1 (33:37):
Why is that?

Speaker 10 (33:38):
Given the obesit in America, twelve percent of our population
is on foot stamps.

Speaker 1 (33:44):
Snap, Why is that? I think that's because in a
lot of blue states they've just blown out the eligibility.
I think in a lot of red states, the goal
has been to get folks off of SNAP, and then
in blue states they want to get the maximum federal
draw down, and so they want maximum enrollment, and thus
this is what you get, which really brings you to

(34:05):
my next question. Congressman, I know you're one of the
members who wants to put the most downward pressure on
federal spending in the entire body. If you could give
Russ vote advice right now in the administration, where would
you direct him to try to make some meaningful cuts
to at least see some silver lining out of the
Schumer shutdown.

Speaker 10 (34:26):
Well, if he wants to move forward as quickly as possible,
he needs to be doing those rifts now. We need
to turn Russ vote loose to start doing those risks,
because that's tremendous pressure on the Democrats. Look, they've already
lost part of their base with the federal Union that
announced today, and they can say all day long that
that was not targeted at any party, but it was

(34:49):
because they want them to pass this clean City r
So if I were talking to us, I'd say, let's
get a move on downsizing the federal government workforce.

Speaker 1 (35:00):
Congressman Keith's self with wise words, and I think some
good strategic decisions ahead. We appreciate you coming on the
program and sharing your viewpoint. Thank you, Matt. Are you

Hey, if your cable provider doesn't offer one America News Network,
you should give them a call and kindly demand that

your cable provider will not know that there is a
strong demand across this country for one America News Network.
So please call your cable company today and kindly ask

here's a question for you. What does Roku TV, Apple TV,

that all three platforms offer you the ability to live

Speaker 8 (37:54):
Hey, did you know that one America news network has
launched a twenty four to seven Twitter like social media
or placement. We're calling it free Talk forty five. So
why is it branded free talk forty five? Well, free
talk because you will not be censored for expressing your
opinion there, and forty five because forty five is a

(38:15):
really lucky number. So join us at free Talk forty
five and express yourself with no fear of cancelation.

Speaker 2 (38:23):
Ever, can you give us a status on the preliminary
talks of the Chinese and.

Speaker 1 (38:30):
Where that sets things out for Thursdays and meeting companies?

Speaker 11 (38:33):
So we had a very good meeting Janus and myself
with our counterpart, the Vice Premier, and we have a
framework for President Trump President she to decide on a ND.
We discussed the wide range of things from tariffs, trade fedanyl,

(38:54):
substantial purchase of US agricultural products and rares, and we're.

Speaker 1 (39:01):
Nothing has been agreed to yet. Well you feel we
feel good? I mean we feel good President Trump is
on a historic swing across Asia. He had stops in Malaysia, Japan,
and South Korea. There's also a planned discussion with Jijiping
of China. During the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum in Malaysia,
President Trump signed a deal formalizing a ceasefire between Thailand

(39:22):
and Cambodia. This trip is happening as the US scored
a major win with China over rare earth minerals. We
heard from Asia expert Sean Rain that rare earths are
China's main advantage in our escalating trade war.

Speaker 12 (39:35):
The reality is there is no other place in the
world that America can get access to top high end
rare earths. The Chinese have almost a virtual monopoly on
rare earths.

Speaker 1 (39:48):
That was weeks ago, but we do have breaking news.
Treasury Secretary Scott Besson announced that China will delay its
expanded licensing regime on rare earths for one year and
a tentative deal. He said, the United States and China
have reached a very substantial framework that could avert the
United States imposing one hundred percent tariffs on Chinese goods.
He emphasized that China had agreed not to proceed with

(40:10):
harsh export controls on rare earths or at least pause
them in exchange. Joining us now the founder of the
China Market Research Group and author of the split Finding
the Opportunities in China's Economy in the New World Order,
Sean Ryan. Sean, thanks for rejoining the program. What's your
current assessment of where the US China negotiations stand. It's

(40:31):
great to be here, Matt.

Speaker 12 (40:32):
I'm really glad that Scotty Bessen and Holy Fung in
Malaysia were able to come up to some sort of
a dett because I think that the ratcheting up of
tension over the last couple of weeks between the US
and China just didn't make a lot of sense. You know,
as President Trump himself said, the additional one hundred percent
tariffs on Chinese imports into the United States just is

(40:53):
not sustainable. But I think it's a good win for
America because now China, I expect, is going to buy
more soybeans in the next six to twelve months. You know,
Chinese bought about twelve point five billion US dollars worth
of American soybeans last year, accounting for about fifty five
percent of the overall output from the United States. So

(41:14):
I think this is a good sign, Matt, and I
have to give a lot of credit to President Trump
for coming and meeting people in Malaysia firsthand, meeting people
in South Korea firsthand, because if you don't meet people,
you don't get deals. And the Biden regime largely ignored
Asia during Biden's four years.

Speaker 1 (41:33):
There was a theory during the Obama presidency that economic
engagement around the rest of Southeast Asia could really enhance
the US leverage with China. Do we see President Trump
now executing on that vision better than Obama?

Speaker 12 (41:47):
Could certainly better than Obama. I think it's really good
that Trump signed a deal with the Prime Minister of
Australia Albanize to get eight point five billion dollar deal
in rare earth refined and mining happening in Australia. I
also like that he met with the prime ministers and
our Ibraham from Malaysia and the Prime Minister of Thailand

(42:08):
to also secure more access to rare earths. You know
right now, Matt, the problem is America doesn't have any
leverage over China. China has all the cards during the
trade war, which is why I think you saw Scotty
Besson really had to do the deal with China this
week because China controls rare earth.

Speaker 9 (42:27):
So we've talked about in the past.

Speaker 12 (42:29):
If you have an American first strategy like I do,
the United States has to spend the money.

Speaker 9 (42:34):
Securing rare earth materials.

Speaker 12 (42:37):
China controls about seventy percent of mining and ninety percent
of overall refining. So Trump is doing a smart job
in securing the mineral assets, but he needs to go farther.
He needs to catch up to China on refining and
processing technology. That's going to take five to ten years,
but it's something we need to do. And Trump is

(42:57):
pivoting back towards Asia, which is smart I think Obama,
but really my biggest criticism is of Biden. He really,
you know, gave up Asia to the Chinese. He really
didn't do a good job at dealing with China over
the last four or five years.

Speaker 1 (43:13):
And as overall, you and I disagreed as to China
maintaining all the leverage because I believe the American market
is incredible leverage. But here, I think in this Dayton
you describe, you see the United States agreeing to pause
the implementation of some of these tariffs. China pauses some
of the expert controls on rare earths, and it's it's
kind of the deal we envisioned during our last discussion.

(43:36):
Markets reacted very favorably today. Are you expecting more good
news to come when we look at US markets and
Asian markets absorbing the good news on the detante, Yeah,
the DATNA is a good news.

Speaker 12 (43:49):
And so the reason why we disagree, I think is
Chinese exports went up eight point three percent last month.
The World Bank revised China's economic growth to four point
eight percent for twenty twenty five. They revise that from
a four point four percent estimation earlier in the year.
And China's industrial profits went up twenty one point six
percent last month. But here's the kicker. Exports from China

(44:12):
to the United States dropped twenty seven percent so far
this year. So there's been a real problem for China
selling to the United States. But as you can see,
China is pivoting towards other countries. Over the last seven years,
China has really de risked from the United States.

Speaker 9 (44:29):
I'll give you some numbers.

Speaker 12 (44:30):
In twenty seventeen, seventeen percent of China's exports went to
the United States, Matt. This year, it's only about twelve percent.
China is now exporting eighteen percent of their exports to
as In. That's why China has the upper hand in
the trade war. I think the markets recognize it, and
so they're happy that there's a detan by doing this,

(44:50):
they're saying, Look, China and the United States need to
work together. It's better for the economies of both countries.
Let's get the stock market going up. What I would
love to see, Matt, is that President Trump goes to
chairman she and says, let's invest in America. Let's have
Chinese companies like byd and automaker or Cattle a battery

(45:11):
maker invest in factories billions and billions of dollars in America,
create American jobs and help create more economic growth for
the United States. I like China, I love the United States.
I think both countries benefit by more economic integration. I
know you and I might disagree on this at some point,
but at the end of the day, both you and

(45:31):
I want to make America stronger.

Speaker 1 (45:34):
Well, it does seem that President Trump, you know, will
embrace the vision of shared investment he did around TikTok,
So maybe that flashpoint provides some sort of opportunity for cooperation.
The question then becomes, you know, does that open up
the United States to any vulnerability when it comes to
dual use technology, because we know the Chinese have a

(45:55):
lot of dual use technology, And that begs this question,
if this deton turns into broader cooperation, how do you
think that'll change the security structure in Asia.

Speaker 12 (46:07):
I think that's a great question. I think the key
mat is we can't be too innocent. We have to
understand that Unfortunately, America and China right now are not allies.
There's competition, there's maybe even you could call an adversarial relationship.
So the United States needs to keep an eye on
for spying for national security issues. Totally agree with that,

(46:28):
But we can't let fear mongering take place of rational thinking.
Right China, I don't think is trying to overtake the
United States and implement its value system in America. I
don't think that China's thinking of invading the United States.
So it's much better if we have working together. You know, again,

(46:50):
let's bring in Chinese companies myth of factories to build
up in the United States, get some of the North
Carolina furniture companies factories going again. Get more investment into
your home state in Florida or in Texas.

Speaker 9 (47:03):
Because we need the.

Speaker 12 (47:04):
Best technology, the best factories moving into America to create
more jobs.

Speaker 1 (47:10):
We'll have to leave there. We'll have to leave there
amount of time. But I think it would be an
interesting subject of discussion as to where that cooperation can
occur that doesn't create the vulnerabilities that we're concerned about.
He's the author of the split Finding the Opportunities in
China's economy in the New World Order. Sean Rain, thanks
as always for coming on the program and sharing your viewpoint.

Speaker 9 (47:30):
Thank you, Matt.

Speaker 1 (47:31):
And coming up, we have a senior Trump Administration official
joining us to talk about the Department of Homeland Securities
Mission and recent information they got regarding weaponizing FEMA. You
won't believe it, don't go anywhere.

Speaker 1 (49:56):
As the Trump Vance administration presses on with the depor
rotation agenda, there are still lingering dangers from the Biden
Harris open borders. Recently, a deadly Simi truck crash in
California was linked to an illegal alien driver. Authorities say
the driver entered the United States illegally in twenty twenty
two in New York City, and enforcement sweep by ICE

(50:18):
in Chinatown led to nine arrests of people who were
here illegally from West Africa. They were also involved in
other criminal activity. There were protesters who were also detained.
Just days ago, three federal officers were injured in the
San Diego area after a man rammed his car to
evade arrest. While brutal attacks like these are on the rise,

(50:38):
the left continues to rally against our ICE and border
patrol officers. On Friday, a group of Democrat US senators
formerly called on the US Department of Education to intervene
against ICE operations near schools, arguing that student safety risk
occurs when there's enforcement action. Can you just imagine that
your school librarian out there they are trying to stop

(51:00):
ICE deporting people. It's just an absurd proposition. Meanwhile, President
Trump acknowledged that efforts by Democrats to docks ICE has
caused harm to them and their families, and then it
must stop, even if they have to wear masks.

Speaker 2 (51:14):
But I mean, I see it with Ice where they're
having you know, where they define, where they live, who
they are. And you know, I wasn't. I didn't take
I didn't have a big view in the mask. But
I now understand why they should wear masks. I think
it's very dangerous for them not to wear a mask,
and they can do whatever they want. I noticed some
do it and some don't, but it's pretty dangerous.

Speaker 1 (51:36):
Amid all of this, the Department of Homeland Security is
also have to dealing with new revelations that FEMA may
have been weaponized against Red States. As a Florida man,
I could tell you nothing is more nonpartisan than helping
people after a hurricane or a storm or a wildfire.
Increasingly we saw politics politics impact the way emergency services

(51:59):
will run in cal which was recently concerning as people
saw their houses engulfed in flames while you couldn't even
get a fire hydrant to work. But if indeed this
is true, it could have sweeping consequences for federal emergency management.
Joining US now Deputy Assistant Secretary for Strategic Communications at
the Department of Homeland Security Micah Brock. Micah, let's start

(52:19):
with FEMA. Was FEMA weaponized by the Biden administration for politics?

Speaker 13 (52:25):
Yes, Matt, it absolutely was, And what we saw through
this report that was released just last week, it can
be described as nothing short of a betrayal of the
American people. This organization that's supposed to lead disaster response
and take care of Americans when natural disasters hit, when
they are facing some of the worst situations that any
American may possibly go through, this organization was used and

(52:47):
politicized to punish conservatives, to target their households, not provide
them the aid that they were due, and instead to
circumvent those that the regime disagreed with.

Speaker 1 (52:58):
How did they accomplish this? How did they know someone's
politics when determining whether or not they got federal aid
after a disaster?

Speaker 13 (53:05):
Well, Matt, it was based off external factors. So they
would approach an individual's house using door to door canvassing
techniques that FEMA often uses following a natural disaster, and
if they happen to see a Trump sign in your yard,
saw that you were a Second Amendment supporter, or saw
anything that would indicate to them that you were a conservative,
they could input that information into their data collection and

(53:25):
use that information to decide not to approach your house
or give you the aid that you deserved. And we
saw hundreds of examples of this across the United States,
spanning not just one year, not just two year, but
four years, going back to twenty twenty one. I know
that there was a primary example in Florida that we
talked about prior to the election where individuals did not
approach houses that had Trump signs out front, per the

(53:48):
leadership at FEMA, and that was not an isolated incident.
There are hundreds of incidences that were similar in scope
and in scale across the entire United States.

Speaker 1 (53:57):
That just makes my blood boil as someone who grow
up my whole life in Florida. After a hurricane, it
doesn't matter if they're a Republican a Democrat, a Gator,
a seminole, you go help your neighbor in a time
of need. Are there going to be any consequences for
the people who made these decisions? And do we know
exactly who gave these orders? Yeah?

Speaker 13 (54:18):
Absolutely so. Number One, this report revealed the scope and
scale of the issues that existed at FEMA, and we've
referred the individuals that are mentioned in this report who
conducted these actions to the Department of Justice, So it'll
be up to the Department of Justice to pursue any
type of just investigation for them for what they did.
But at FEMA, what we are planning on doing, and
what we have begun to do already is institute new

(54:40):
mechanisms and requirements to make sure nothing like this ever
happens again. And I think that's the most important thing
that under this administration, under the leadershipship of Secretary Nome,
doesn't matter if you're a Democrat or Republican, if a
disaster hits, we will be there for you. We're not
going to politicize disaster response, unlike the Biden administration.

Speaker 1 (54:58):
I have always seen a agency management work best when
it is federally funded, state coordinated, and locally administered. It
seems as though the Trump administration's general paradigm is to
push more of that administration to the local level, of course,
with federal support where it needed, but not to have
FEMA as large a bureaucracy literally doing the door to

(55:21):
door type work. What can you share with our audience
about President Trump's vision for emergency management going forward.

Speaker 13 (55:30):
Well, the Secretary and the President have been very clear
since day one. We want to eliminate FEMA as it
exists today because the way that FEMA currently exists has
been a disservice to the American people, going all the
way back to Hurricane Katrina, where we still have outstanding
funds that need to be obligated and spent for a
disaster that was years and years in the past. What

(55:51):
matters most and what is most effective is when state
and local leaders take the reins and lead the response themselves.
And we saw that in Texas and the response to
the Texas flooding that took place there. The Texas Emergency
Management Organizations, the leadership of Governor Abbott in the state
of Texas led to a very strong and coordinated response
with federal assistance from the top. The assertion here is

(56:12):
not that the federal government isn't going to be there
to help, but it's how they help Matt and they
should help through grant funding, they should help through a
top down approach, but they shouldn't be dominating the state's
response to natural disasters. State responses are always going to
be more effective than federal responses because they're inherently closer
to the issue and know how best to manage it.

Speaker 1 (56:32):
Yeah, this is one reason why you wouldn't get like
the federal politics affecting neighbors helping neighbors if that vision
is fully realized, and we suspect it will be before
I let you go. We are continuing to watch these
increased attacks on ICE officers as the deportation agenda rolls along.
Is there anything you can share with us about the
Department's continued focus on this and a need for those

operations to continue to meet the administration's goals.

Speaker 2 (56:58):
Yeah?

Speaker 13 (56:59):
Absolutely, I think the numbers speak for themselves. We have
historic deportation numbers. We are blasting the record for mass
deportations out of this country out of the water. But
perhaps most importantly, as our officers face this increased threat
in this threat level on the ground. It's important to
note that the Secretary stands fully behind them, fully behind
our officers, supporting them, and any individual that threatens an

(57:20):
ICE officer, any individual that attacks an ICE or CVP
officer will be met with the full force of the
law and the full force of the federal government. We
are not backing down from this mission. The mass deportations
will continue, and if you're an illegal alien, your best
choice is to remove yourself from our country right now
using the CBP home app.

Speaker 1 (57:39):
Is there a particular place you're looking at where our
ICE officers are particularly are concerned, or is there a
flash point a detention center that you've got your eye on, especially.

Speaker 13 (57:50):
Well, there's flashpoints all across the nation. I mean, we
saw just a few weeks ago the sniper on a
rooftop outside of a Dallas ICE facility. But in Chicago
and in Portland, Antifa terrorist protesters and rioters have been
outside of our ICE facilities, threatening our officers, berating our officers,
dosing our officers, and assaulting our officers, and those locations

(58:11):
are areas of primary concern to this department and we
will be addressing and each and every rioter for any
crimes that they commit towards our officers.

Speaker 1 (58:20):
Micah Boxingior, official at the Department of Homeland Security, thank
you so much for joining us on the program. Thanks Matt.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
