Let's dive in.
Hello.
Welcome back.
Thank you so much for joiningus.
If you are new here, the podcastwill be a little bit different
today I'm using it to answer aquestion, which I get.
All the time, and I just thinkit's best to just answer it all
in one place.
And that question is how muchdoes coaching cost?
How much does one-on-one fitnessmindset, nutrition, coaching
cost?

(01:07):
I'm going to lay out all of it.
And because let's be honest, money talk can feel tender.
You want to invest wisely.
You want transparency.
You wanna know what you're gonnaget, what it's gonna cost, and
whether it is actually worth it.
So today here's what we're goingto cover what coaching actually
costs across fitness, nutrition, and life coaching?

(01:28):
Both in Canada and in the us.
Why prices vary so much, how theteam experience or client
results increase the value, howto compare options to the other
things that you're trying to fitinto your life, like a vacation,
a house remodeling, a gymmembership, or fitness classes.
We're also going to cover thehidden price that you're paying

(01:48):
for staying stuck and why myparticular method of coaching,
which is eating normally andtraining consistently, feels
scary, but fucking works.
Okay?
And here I'm also gonna sharewith you exactly how to pick the
right tier for your season, yourbudget, and what you need.
So if you've ever been burned byquick fixes, if you're a nervous
system, flares up.
You get all anxious when youhear the word investment or if

(02:10):
you're just tired of startingover every Monday, take a
breath.
You're not paying for sets andreps.
You're paying for expert eyes, fewer mistakes, time saved, and
a proven brain that just getsyou there faster and calmer.
Quick map of where we're goingfirst.
Everyday costs, you don'tquestion.
Then real market ranges.

(02:31):
Then why the prices vary andthen how to choose your tier.
And finally, a cost of inactioncheck.
Okay, so let's start with thecosts that you already Know and
probably do not question, andthen we'll map out the market.

So the costs that you know (02:43):
a client once told me I can spend
two grand a week in Mexicowithout blinking, but I freeze
when I think about investing inmyself.
If that is you, stay with me.
Money is a values questiondressed up as a math question,
right?
You wanna know the price, butreally, most women I talk to, if
not all, can afford coaching,right?

(03:06):
What they really want iscertainty that it will work for
them and that it will work fortheir life.
And that's a whole otherconversation because.
If the only thing holding youback is certainty and a
guarantee, nobody can give youthat.
That's just you questioningwhether you are going to show up
and do it.
And if you invest in the correctoption for you, with the correct

(03:26):
level of support for you in away that fits into your life,
you will.
I know that to be true.
So today I'm gonna show you allthe ranges.
I'm gonna show you the rangesfor personal training.
Online coaching, nutrition, lifecoaching.
Why bigger, deeper teams andlonger track records cost more
and deliver more.
How to decide what level fitsyou now, what you should need
long term.
And by the end of this episode, you will know the number and the

(03:48):
value, and you will have a clearnext step.
Okay, so let's start with thecost.
You already know most of myclients, if not all, take at
least one luxury vacation awayeach year for at least a week,
right?
So a typical one week trip forOne person is often in the low
thousands once you had flights, accommodation, food, and fun.
Beautiful memories.
Yes.

(04:08):
Fricking love a vacation lifechanging in January when you're
back at your desk.
Not usually right?
I just love to use thiscomparison.
Six to 12 months of one-on-onecoaching, fitness and or
nutrition is probably gonna costthe same amount as a one week
vacation, just being honest.
Is the vacation gonna changeyour life?
No.
Is investing in six or 12 monthsof coaching?

(04:30):
A hundred percent.
A kitchen remodel is anotherexample.
You can easily, easily spendtens of thousands of dollars to
make your space gorgeous.
I literally, before recordingthis, had contractors here.
The budget for renovating ourtwo bathrooms is$97,000.
Which I'm not gonna spend butyou would easily spend tens of
thousands to make your spacegorgeous.

(04:51):
And people do it all the time.
They go into debt doing it allthe time.
It could be worth it for yourhome value, for your happiness
in the kitchen, in the bathroom, but it does not change your
life, your health, your energyor your habits.
When you ask how much willcoaching cost, I actually want
you to consider what am Ialready spending on things that
are not changing me, that arenot changing my life, that are

(05:11):
just temporary, that I'm notenjoying?
Like you can spend a fewthousand dollars on a vacation
where you're gonna go and hidein all the photos.
Or you can spend a few thousanddollars on changing your life
and the way that you think aboutyourself so that next year when
you go on vacation, you are inthe front and center of your
family photos.
You do not think twice aboutputting on a bathing suit.
You don't care what bathingsuit, and you're not obsessing

(05:32):
about food the whole time.
Those are kind of your options.
A week changes your scenery, sixto 12 months of coaching changes
your identity So let's map outthe landscape so you can see
what typical fitness, nutritionand coaching options cost in
Canada and the US because I'mhere in Canada, Canadians like
to pay in Canadian dollars, butwe have the misfortune of most
things are in American dollarsand.

(05:53):
That unfortunately is the samefor Canadian small business as
well, especially if you'reonline.
All of the platforms, all of theapps, everything that we use is
in US dollars.
So when the, our dollar goesdown and us experiences
inflation, so do Canadian smallbusinesses and therefore so does
the consumer.
Here's a quick note on pricingonline on web pages.

(06:16):
With one-on-one customizedcoaching, price means absolutely
nothing without the context ofvalue, access, call frequency,
form review, nutrition, supportyour injuries, equipment,
travel, how many people are onthe team, how many people are
working with you, all change thescope, so until a coach really
understands your goals and yourlife, any number as a guess,

(06:38):
think of it like a homerenovation quote, right?
Again, I just got a couple, so Iknow this.
They don't just say online, liketo renovate a bathroom costs
this much.
They don't know until they'relike in your house and they've
taken measurements.
They know like what level oflike how fancy a bathroom you
want, how long it's gonna take, what you want, what, how much
you are willing to do.

(06:59):
You would not expect acontractor to just price a
project that they haven't scopedand already done that.
So that is the reason that mostone-on-one coaches don't just
price their one-on-one pricingonline, because a, if you don't
have any context, it's not avalue to you and B one-on-one.
Coaches literally cannot tellyou how much it's going to cost
unless they know quite a bitabout you, your goals, what

(07:21):
you're looking to achieve, whatyou've done before, and really
like how you want to feel.
But let me give you realisticranges that vary by city coach
experience, education and levelof support.
So number one is one-to-onepersonal training in real life.
So in the United States, commonrates are about 50 to 125 US
dollars per hour.
For certified trainers inCanada, a range is anywhere from

(07:45):
60 to 150 Canadian dollars anhour.
With provincial differences, Ido find there's a much bigger
difference across Canada thanthere is across the United
States.
So let's say you're working outtwice a week, with a trainer in
real life at a mid-range price.
That would be 400 US to athousand dollars US per month or

(08:06):
in Canada, that would be 500 to$900.
Canadian per month in Canadajust for two workouts a week.
That is pure session time, notprogramming between sessions,
communication between sessionsor nutrition support.
So that's personal training.
So let's just say two sessions aweek, four sessions a week,
obviously would be twice thatyou're looking at.
At least$2,000 Canadian dollarsa month.

(08:27):
At least 2000 American dollars amonth.
If you wanna work up four timesa week.
Now let's talk about onlinefitness coaching.
typical is Canadian 400 to$800 amonth, or US 300 to$600 a month
depending on access, customization, and team depth.
This usually includes trainingwritten for your body and your
life form.
Checks, calls, weekly feedback, messaging, support, and

(08:50):
nutrition guidance.
So you can expect lower pricesfor templated plans.
So this is just a program theygive to everybody.
You can expect hire for trulycustomized high touch coaching,
more for calls, more forresources.
Your third option is groupfitness and memberships.
My personal training backgroundis primarily at a boutique

(09:11):
fitness studio.
boutique studios in Canada.
Often price single classes.
That are anywhere from 25 to$40.
We're talking group fitness.
That's not necessarily, we'renot talking about group
coaching, right?
This is just group fitnessclasses.
25, 20 to 40 Canadian dollarsper class.
Say you're getting an unlimitedmonthly membership that can be
anywhere from$130 to 300Canadian dollars a month or

(09:37):
more.
Typical Canadian gym membershipscluster around 40 to$70 a month
for a lower range facility.
Let's talk now about nutritionsupport in the United States
Registered dietician initialsessions commonly run around 150
to 250 US dollars.
So one initial session with aregistered dietician follow ups
are usually a hundred to 150 USdollars.

(09:59):
In Canada, many registereddieticians charge around 1 25 to
180 for an initial assessmentand 70 to a hundred dollars for
follow-ups.
And if you have benefit plans, those can often help because
usually they cover registereddieticians.
Life coaching is the wild westof, in terms of pricing, because
it's based on value that you, they can charge literally

(10:19):
anything for literally anything.
So across North America you willsee a very wide range.
Many experienced coaches sitroughly between 150 and 300 US
per hour.
While executive or nichespecialists can be a little bit
higher, based on experienceprices, probably increase over
time.
In Canada, I would say a basehourly rate for life coaching,

(10:43):
like if you're paying per call,is probably$200 an hour.
Canadian for a base, one hourcall.
Okay, so let's talk about whythe price varies so much.
Team depth and experience.
You're paying for access to morebrains.
If there's a team, right, youare paying for more years of
experience, more brains, moreeducation.
A team with say, a strengthcoach, a nutrition professional,

(11:04):
and a life coach, can solveproblems faster than a solo
coach, right?
They have access to moreresources, information, and
education.
Also track record and clientresults.
The longer a company or abusiness has been around, and
the more client results theyhave, the higher the value.
they have a lot of videotestimonials, the higher the
value.
So it's not just about cost,it's about value.

(11:25):
You're getting a proven outcome.
They have a refined system andfewer dead ends, doesn't mean
it's going to be perfect, butthey have some proven systems.
Quality of delivery and access.
So there could be one-on-onecalls, there could be group
calls, response time.
Again, if you're hiring somebodywith a team, there are more
people to do it.

(11:45):
I would expect a 24 to 48 hourresponse time, weekday response
time.
That is extremely reasonable.
But also do not be expectingyour coach to respond to you
within three hours.
They probably will sometimes,but I wouldn't expect.
So again, the price range can bebased on quality of delivery and
access.
Are you getting one-on-onecalls?
What is the response time?
Are they doing video formchecks?

(12:06):
Are they doing a live fitnessform checks?
Are you getting personalizedprogramming?
Are you getting a program that'swritten for everyone?
Are you getting proactiveadjustments?
like in muscles and mindset, just throwing this in there.
If a client goes on vacation, the coach updates their workout
for their vacation.
If they're like, I don't likethis exercise.
Too easy, too hard, your coachesedit it in real time.
Not everybody does that.
So that increases the valueeducation and specialization.

(12:29):
Are your coaches, I hope, certified professionals, or do
they have a degree in whateverthey're teaching?
Is their certification current?
What is their case volume?
How many people have theycoached?
Have they worked with people inother capacities?
What is their niche expertise?
This reduces trial and error andsaves you time to get a result.
Systems and data.
Assessment.

(12:49):
This is the most time consumingpiece coming up with the systems
and the data assessmentprotocols, progressive
programming cycles, being ableto show you a structure,
tracking progress, doingcheck-ins, accountability tools.
These improve client results andconsistency, and so that's why
they're important.
But the more of those thatexist, the more value.
And then lastly, stability andsupport.

(13:10):
Is this an establishedoperation?
It's okay if it's not, butyou're getting more value if it
is.
And again, it's going to saveeverybody time.
Are there clear processes inplace?
Is there reliable support?
This creates a safer, morepredictable experience, which
again saves you time and youknow what you're going to get.
The bottom line is when you'reinvesting in coaching, whether

(13:31):
it's fitness coaching ornutrition coaching, you are not
just buying workouts or ifyou're investing in life
coaching, you're not just buyingyour friend's time to talk on
the phone.
You're buying a proven brain, better decisions and speed to
results.
So now let's talk about, it'sgonna cost me the same or less
when women tell me, I don't knowwhat to do.
I've literally tried everything.

(13:52):
I would do anything to loseweight.
I would do anything to feelbetter.
I'm just so sick of this.
What they usually mean is thatthey've tried a lot of extreme
things for short bursts.
They've tried cabbage soup, thecarnivore diet, no carbs after
4:00 PM or 7:00 PM or whatever.
They were willing to tryrestriction for 14 days, which
feels risky to the nervoussystem and impossible to live

(14:12):
with, but they have not yettried eating normally and
training consistently for six to12 months.
That sounds crazy.
That is the thing most peopleare unwilling to try because it
asks for patience and notpunishment.
Here's the truth, done properly.
Coaching often costs the same orless than what you have already
spent trying to do it yourself.
Think about the stack.
A gym membership you don't use.

(14:32):
Also a CrossFit membership.
You don't use random classpacks.
Supplements that promise themoon for the love of God, the
amount of money people spend onsupplements, programs that you
bought and never finished.
PDF workouts, challenges thatyou joined.
Add all of that up.
and the time spent and compareit to one structured plan with
expert eyes, progressivestrength, simple food upgrades,

(14:54):
and weekly feedback that keepsyou consistent.
That's gonna win every singletime.
And lastly, I wanna ask you, what is it costing you to stay
where you are?
Let's count the hidden pricetags.
Time lost to starting over everyMonday, decision fatigue around
food, the mental exhaustion, energy slumps that are stealing
evenings with your family.
All the money poured into quickfixes that treat symptoms and

(15:17):
not actually the root, thesystem.
cause you have to keep doingthat, right?
The mental rent you pay to.
Just simply feeling like notenough.
If a normal vacation lives inthe low thousands for one
person, what would changing yourlife permanently be worth to
Hopefully more than that.
If you're gonna go on a one weekvacation in the low thousands,
you got all these years left tolive.

(15:38):
What is worth that to you?
How about even just one year offeeling strong, clear, present,
and confident in your clothes?
What is it worth to you and whatis it costing you to stay where
you are?
That's always an importantquestion, and it also can be
okay.
You don't have to want tochange, by the way.
Now I wanna talk about the risk.
I promise that we would talkabout the risk because if really
what you want is the questionanswered, is this going to work

(16:01):
for me?
Most things work while you dothem.
Is it something that fits intoyour life that you're going to
be able to sustain and hopefullyenjoy?
There's always a risk.
We're always engaging in risk.
Every time we log on online, answer the phone, step outside,
get in a car, get on a plane,we're always encountering risk
that we think is acceptable,right?
You have to decide what risksare you willing to take and what

(16:24):
are you not willing to take?
I am personally not willing totake risks that can harm my
health or my family.
I'm always willing to invest inmy clients, my team, and my
health.
There is a massive differencebetween gambling with extreme
protocols and investing inevidence-based basics.
You can live with, if you'vegone on a diet, if you've bought
a supplement, if you have doneanything restrictive ever,

(16:47):
you've already gambled is risky.
So how risky can, learning howto eat normally for your body
and progressively strength trainfor the rest of your life,
possibly be?
Strength training, dailymovement, balanced plate
nutrition, sleep stressregulation, and mindset skills.
It doesn't sound very risky tome, so if risk is your word, I

(17:07):
want you to just reframe it,flip it in your head.
The risky path is staying stuckfor another year or seven.
The low risk path is picking asustainable plan and actually
doing it long enough for it towork.
Quick note while we're here.
Inside muscles and mindset, webuild your confidence and
strength with short effectiveworkouts, balanced plate
nutrition you can actually livewith and mindset tools that make

(17:29):
consistency feel simple.
We coach real women in reallives with real jobs and real
dogs and real kids, and we do itwithout calorie counting or food
obsession.
If you want support, the link isin the show notes.
Okay.
How to choose the right tier foryour goals and budget.
My personal trainer, JenPilotti, wrote this brilliant

(17:50):
Substack, which I can share inthe show notes about what you
need for fitness, right?
And she used the analogy of anarchitect, a carpenter, a
designer, all the differentparts of building a house not
everybody needs the same thing.
All the women I work withgenerally need the same thing,
until they graduate from myprogram, and then they need
something different.
Use this simple filter todecide.

(18:11):
First of all, do a sanity check.
Before you choose, ask If you'reconsidering a coach or coaching
program.
Ask about the team size.
Is it just them?
If there's a team who does what, how many client cases have they
solved?
How often will you get feedback?
How often will you get calls?
Do you have DM access?
What happens when life getsmessy?
How are they gonna hold youaccountable?

(18:31):
Because prices rise with deeperteams, longer track records and
higher access, you are payingfor fewer detours and more
momentum.
So if you need fitness, formcoaching, you need to learn how
to work out.
You need a high level ofaccountability.
These are the two options that Iwould compare.
Number one, in-person personaltraining twice a week at your
local rate, and then addseparate nutrition support if

(18:54):
needed.
That's gonna cost probably a bitmore.
And then option two, high touchonline coaching, with weekly
check-ins, form reviews, andprogressive programming that's
written for you.
In many cities, I would say twopersonal training hours, weekly
rivals, or probably exceeds apremium one-on-one online
coaching package.
That includes training plusnutrition guidance between

(19:16):
sessions.
If you are someone who feelslike you thrive in community and
you like a class led by a coach, boutique memberships typically
land around 150 to 300 Canadiandollars a month.
If you love that environment andit keeps you consistent, great.
You're not gonna lose body fatthat way.
But if it's keeping youconsistent, you're having fun.
That's why I go to yoga classes.

(19:38):
So just remember, classes arenot the same as a personalized
strength plan with progressionand feedback that's built for
you.
If your main gap is foodclarity, especially if it's
covered by your insurance, booka registered dietician for two
or three sessions.
Set up a simple, sustainable, system for you.
In the United States, Ask aboutinsurance.

(19:59):
In Canada, check your benefits.
If your main gap isaccountability, consistency,
behavior change.
Mindset or stress.
A skilled life coach will helpclose the knowing doing gap,
right?
Rewire your all or nothingthinking.
Remove identity, friction.
You can expect a wide pricerange.
Many experienced coaches sitroughly between 200 and 300 US

(20:23):
dollars per hour, again, providing different kinds of
packages, now let's talk aboutvalue math.
Here's the really the onlyequation that I care about
personally.
This is just me personally.
Consistency plus progressivestrength training, plus normal
food, plus nervous systemregulation equals permanent
change.
That's the equation.
That's it.
There you have it.
So if you need a body, your lifeoverhaul, those are the

(20:44):
ingredients.
That's what you need.
Not for seven days, not for 30days, six to 12 months.
Six to 24 months, if I'm beinghonest.
Most women underestimate whatthey can do in a year and
overestimate what they can do ina week.
Have you heard that before?
So again, if a one week vacationcosts you thousands of dollars
and is over seven or 10 days andinvesting a very similar

(21:07):
magnitude or probably less intocoaching, that changes your next
10 to 15 years is a verydifferent return on investment.
Here is a checklist that I willput in the show notes here that
you can copy into your notesapp, before you hire a coach.
So ask these questions out loudor send them by email.
That being said, you are a biggirl making a big girl decision,

(21:30):
so do your own homework.
If there are testimonials andinformation available on the
coach's website, read them.
Watch them binge listen to theirpodcast, binge their content,
because these are the best waysreally for you to see if it's
gonna be like a good energy andvibe fit for you rather than
just overthinking and asking awhole bunch of questions on a

(21:52):
call with them that you may havebeen able to answer for yourself
before.
Okay.
Number one, who is on the teamand who will I be talking to
week to week?
Number two, how often will I getfeedback and what is this
typical response time?
Number three, will my trainingbe written for my equipment,
schedule, injuries and travel,or is it already written?
Number four, what happens when Imiss a week or hit a plateau?

(22:13):
Number five, what nutritionsupport is included and what is
not?
Number six, how do you trackprogress and adjust?
Number seven, can I see two tothree recent client stories that
look like my life and season oflife?
Number eight, what currency willI be bill in and our taxes added
or included?
not all of those things have tobe included, but those are
things that you will wanna knowand that will adjust the value

(22:35):
and your investment.
So I also wanna address, ifmoney is tight right now, here
is where I would start and thenI would stack.
I would start with yournon-negotiables.
You, you've gotta be training, strength training at least three
times a week.
For at least 30 to 45 minutesgoing on a walk every day,
eating some protein and going tobed at a consistent time.
Okay?

(22:55):
So if you can do those thingsyourself, amazing, do them.
If not, hire help to get doingthem.
Budget coaching.
Choose a lower touch plan, agroup program with clear
structure and then upgrade youraccess later.
That's actually how I will oftenhire a coach.
I will do some kind of groupthing with them, go to a live

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist
