Speaker (00:00):
Hey, welcome back to the Muscles and Mindset

(00:02):
Revolution podcast.
The podcast for ambitious womenwho want to build strength, feel
confident, af, and lose fat forgood, without counting calories
or BS quick fixes.
I am your host, Anne Jones, certified life coach, personal
trainer, and mindset expert.
And after 15 plus years in thefitness industry, I can tell you
that the real key to lastingchange is not just what you do,

(00:25):
it's how you think.
So if you are ready to shiftyour mindset, build a lifestyle
that you love and feel confidentaf you are in the right place.
Let's dive in.
Okay.
Little vulnerable storytellingwith you here today.
We're gonna jump right in andrewind to the summer of 2021.

(00:46):
So in the summer of 2021, myfamily and I moved from
Vancouver.
We moved to the Sunshine Coast,to honestly the most beautiful
place in the world, thinkingthat this would be better for
our family, for our lifestyle.
And in some ways it was, but themove itself was awful for a
very, very long time.

(01:06):
We moved during C0V1D, we left aneighborhood, our first like
home that we had bought, whichwe loved and went home to after
our wedding and took Sophie hometo, and then we moved during
C0V1D, still very cov1dypandemic questioning whether we
had made the right choice.
We were not confident.
The market was crazy.

(01:27):
Entering a completely newlifestyle, it was beyond
stressful.
And if you've ever been in asituation where you're second
guessing everything and shakingup your life and trying to hold
it all together, being a parent, owning a business, having a
team, and a partner and afamily, you know how this feels.
So that September right in themiddle of all the chaos, I

(01:48):
started my life coachingcertification.
And the first course that we didwas flow I took it for the first
time with my coach, Andrea, andit cracked me open in the best
way.
I learned how to create acompelling vision of anything
that I desire.
I learned how to identify what Iwanted instead of being sucked
up in the flow of life, and thatchanged everything for me.

(02:11):
I have been using this method, creating a compelling vision,
identifying it's a very uniquemethod of goal setting What do
you want your whole life to looklike?
we can't get there until we knowthat.
when I took Flow as a coachingstudent, I learned for the first
time how to get out of my headand into my body, and it.
Took me a while.
I'm actually always astoundedwhen I work one-on-one with

(02:32):
mindset coaching clients, howquickly my clients can get out
of their head and into theirbody, because it took me way
longer than almost all of myclients.
And now it is an invaluableskill.
I cannot imagine living without.
And it eventually is part ofwhat ended my chronic
overthinking because I'm anoverthinker.
I learned, you know, in theprocess of flow, how to make

(02:56):
decisions faster, how to trustmyself instead of continuously
looking outside of myself forthe answer.
And this was huge.
I learned that I can haveliterally whatever I desire.
Maybe not all at once, not allat the same time, but you
literally can attract anythingthat you want, not even in like
a woowoo way.

(03:16):
And I also learned how to.
Receive good things and how tosurrender when things were not
perfect, which is reallychallenging and something that I
work on with my clients a lotnow.
But let's talk about what wasreally going on behind the
scenes.
When I started my life coachingand mentorship certification in
2021, I was anxious.

(03:36):
I was highly overwhelmed.
I was struggling, to be quitehonest with you.
At that time, I was so highanxiety that I was drinking wine
every single night.
Sometimes an entire bottle tomyself, which was new for me and
scared me to be quite honest.
I wasn't sleeping most nights.
I was definitely not sleeping atall if my husband was away or
working at night.

(03:57):
My patience as a parent was atan all time low.
It had never been like thatbefore we moved.
I felt extreme shame about allof those things.
So I was, as a client learningthis coaching program.
And the first course we did wasflow.
And the whole year plus, I wasattending these coaching calls,
sometimes crying with my cameraoff.
I was always there, but I wasnot really there I was.

(04:20):
Usually completely distracted,like listening.
You're supposed to be present, engaging, interacting on these
calls.
I was completely distracted.
Usually doing laundry or workingon my computer trying to hold it
all together.
My nervous system was sodysregulated that even though I
was taking a course aboutstepping out of hustle and into
flow, I couldn't.

(04:41):
Absorb it and I couldn't put theconcepts into practice.
It was ironic and frustrating, and I know some of you are
nodding along right now becauseyou've been there too.
I really want you to know thatI've been there and at no point
do I regret any of it, and I'lltell you why.
I believe, I don't know that Ibelieve this then, but I believe

(05:03):
now I know now that we get whatwe need, when we need it.
So I received what I needed fromthat course at the time.
I needed to be held by thatspace, even if I was spending it
crying and folding laundry and Iwent on to complete my life
coaching and mentorshipcertification, like I use with
all my clients, it's highlyingrained into our method now

(05:24):
inside muscles and mindset.
And when I was taking privateone-on-one clients, that is what
I do with them.
But still at that time, mynervous system was dysregulated.
And yes, it felt like, you know,I had this life coaching and
mentorship certification I had.
Oh my gosh, like an infinitenumber of tools in my toolbox,
but I was still too anxious, dysregulated, and stressed to

(05:44):
employ them with myself.
I was employing with'emsuccessfully with my clients,
not yet with myself.
So then in 2022, I joined anervous system coaching program
called Heal the Hustle with mylovely coach, Cara Barone, and I
was so scared to invest inmyself.
I had invested that much moneyin my coaching certification,
which was a whole year long.

(06:05):
And then to do this Heal toHustle program was like.
I was so scared to spend thatmuch money on a four month
program.
And I did it and it was themissing piece.
It like changed the trajectoryof my life.
I learned how to regulate mynervous system, and I continued
to work with Cara for over twoyears.
Like completely changed the gamemy whole life.

(06:26):
So this combination; how youknow this in more intuitive,
energetic life, coaching andmentorship, learning how to
identify what I desire how toattract it, how to receive
guidance, use your intuition andsurrender the outcomes.
All of that combined withknowing how to regulate my

(06:47):
nervous system so I couldactually do those things.
Was the winning equation for me,and that is exactly why I
combine those two things in mymethod, and that is exactly what
I'm going to teach you when Iteach flow this April and May.
I am a completely differentperson now, so if you fast
forward to today, we're movingagain this summer, but I am a

(07:08):
completely different person.
And I can potentially seestressful events coming, right?
I can see disappointment coming.
we're pulling our child out ofher school, which I love.
So I can see disappointment andgrief coming.
I'm not living in the future atall.
But let's be clear, we're alwaysgonna grieve.
That's normal.
We're gonna experience stress.

(07:30):
That's also normal.
The goal is not to eliminatestress.
That's why I use the term stressmanagement instead of stress
removal or reduction.
We're managing it'cause it'sgonna come and we don't need to
live with it all the time.
We are supposed to experiencestress though, but
disappointment stress.
Do not have to take you out likethey used to take me out or I
know that they take.
Many of you out anxiety does nothave to keep you up at night

(07:53):
overthinking.
It doesn't have to.
It doesn't have to keep youthinking that, convinced that
something bad is coming, waitingfor the other shoe to drop.
I know this because I'm on theother side of this now and trust
me in 2021 and 2022, I couldn'timagine being on the other side
of this pain, So now I handlestress differently and I had a
powerful example the other nightof.

(08:13):
How I know that I feeldifferent.
So this whole week my husbandwas acting a little strange.
Also in this work, ourrelationship, like when I
learned how to not becodependent and trust myself and
love myself, our relationshipcompletely changed.
So that's just another benefitof doing this work.
But anyway, we don't get intoconflict very often, I guess is

(08:33):
what I'm trying to say anymore.
But this whole week was actingweird.
And so one of the things that wedo now is call it out.
That's something that I learnedto do.
We don't just like, give silenttreatment.
We don't do that.
And we don't just like endureattention, we just call it out
and communicate.
So I was just like, what's goingon?
it seems like.
something is up.
And he admitted.
He was so stressed abouteverything that we need to do
before we move.

(08:54):
He literally said, I don't knowhow you're not stressed.
And that was hilarious to mebecause I was like, I'm not, I'm
not stressed like old me wouldhave been losing my mind.
I'm literally not stressed atall because I don't subscribe to
stress anymore.
And I remember hearing GabrielleBernstein say that a few years
ago and being like, oh, thatsounds so simple.
Like, just unsubscribe fromstress.

(09:15):
I am, currently unsubscribed.
It doesn't mean that I don't getstressed and stressful events
don't come up, but I'm not inthat 24 7.
Like everything needs to bestressful that I used to be.
So that was quite eye-openingfor me.
I don't subscribe to hustle,overdoing stress, so.
When my husband was like, here'sthe list of 140 things that we

(09:39):
have to do before Tuesday.
I was like, cool, okay.
Let's talk about prioritizingthem and then I'll do what I
can.
I'm not promising you that I'mgonna do, I'm of these things
and you're working.
And so these 140 things mightnot get done because I do not
sacrifice my business, myrelationship with my clients or
my team, my health ever.

(10:00):
My sleep anymore or myone-on-one time with my
daughter, for the sake oftemporary to-dos.
Ever, ever, ever, ever.
And I want you to have thatpeace too.
So here's how to do it.
Number one, over communicatewith yourself.
Another call things out ifsomething feels off.
And then number two, regulateyour nervous system.
I regulate my nervous system.

(10:20):
If I feel a reaction rising,like when my husband's like, I'm
so stressed.
I, I don't even actually know ifI felt anything.
Whereas previous me would'velike gone into, oh my God, I
have to fix this for him.
I have to fix this for me.
I know how to regulate mynervous system now.
And then I ask what is actuallyneeded instead of taking
responsibility for everythingand trying to control

(10:41):
everything.
Oh my God, these 140 things haveto be done.
Okay?
Oh my God, I'm gonna have to dothem all.
I'm gonna stay up tonight makinga list.
No, I don't do that anymore.
I have boundaries.
Not everything needs to be donenow.
Not everything needs to be doneby me.
Not everything needs to be doneat all, right?
We can't just assume and takeover responsibility for

(11:02):
everything.
Some of those shit does not needto be done, and I'm gonna be
okay with it.
But the things that do need tobe done, we prioritized,
together, and then I reverseengineer a plan.
Cool.
Okay.
These are like the big ticketitems that have to be done by
this date.
These are the things that haveto be done by this date.
Reverse engineer it.
I'll do these things on thisday.
You do these things.
This person's gonna do thesethings.

(11:23):
We're gonna ask this person,we're gonna hire this person.
This is just, may not happen.
And that's fine.
And then once that is done andyou have a structure, I execute
quickly without perfectionism ora shame spiral.
So a few of the things on thatlist we're done within the hour
that I had called it out, communicated with him, asked
what he wanted, because just'cause it's his thing doesn't

(11:43):
mean it's gonna be my thing.
Prioritize what needs to be doneby who and when.
And then some of'em I just likeexecuted right away.
We needed a new barbecue cover.
Cool.
I didn't know that.
So now that I know that, Iordered it at RONA and picked it
up the next day and like boom.
Something off the list.
I delegated a whole bunch ofstuff.
I called the painter.
The painter's already been here.
but not from an energy ofhustle, hustle, hustle, an

(12:04):
energy of power.
Like, oh, I'm in the position ofpower here because I can do all
of these things, and then youjust execute.
But when you get caught up inall of it all at once, right now
is when you get overwhelmed andthen you shut down and
procrastinate.
So this is exactly what I mean.
I stay to my clients and to youall of the time.

(12:25):
You need structure.
You gotta put the workout on thecalendar.
You gotta know like the things.
But then you have to step intoflow.
Always it is a structure, someloving discipline, holding your
dang self accountable.
But it's not to a perfect or comlike ridiculous standard, When
you don't execute everythingperfectly all at once right now,

(12:47):
which is what I find mostambitious women who I work with,
their expectation of themselvesis like perfection.
Right now, all at once.
My house doesn't look like amagazine.
Nobody's gonna come to mybirthday party.
So you need structure, but thenyou gotta let, you gotta let it
go, girlfriend, and this isexactly what I am going to teach
you in flow.
one of the best compliments Iever received was from a

(13:09):
one-on-one VIP client, a mindsetcoaching client.
And she highly perfectionistbefore we started working
together.
And I remember on a call shesaid, I realized maybe the
reason that Anne is so fit andhappy is because she doesn't
need to be perfect.
She's not staying up past 10:00PM to finish the thing or to

(13:32):
make it perfect." That's herquote, and she's right.
I was like, that's it.
You nailed it.
That is why I'm so fit and happyand healthy is because I do not
need it to be perfect.
I am at peace.
I'm at peace with myself.
I'm at peace with my body.
I know my limits for the mostpart, right?

(13:53):
We can still get caught up init, and I don't choose
perfection anymore, nor do Ichoose somebody else's standard
of what I could or should bedoing because no matter, you
might know this to be true to nomatter how much I hustled at
school, in dance, at work, infitness, in my career, trying to

(14:14):
keep up with expectations.
I never reached perfect longterm, so I let it go.
And as a result, I truly feel inthe past two years, I feel like
I've won the life lottery, notbecause my body is perfect, my

(14:34):
life is perfect, or I have anunlimited amount of money, but
because I have peace.
And presence, and that is what Iwant for you.
Flow is the foundation ofcreating the life that you
desire.
Identifying what it is that youdesire, creating it, attracting
it, receiving it, withoutburning out or overachieving.

(14:57):
And this is actually your lastchance to join us.
In flow.
We're starting on Wednesday,April 2nd, so if you are ready
