Do you ever feel like your business is running you instead of the other way around? Today, I had a breakthrough moment while reflecting on how your business truly acts as a mirror of you. It was a transformative realization that made me reevaluate how elements like discipline, fear of success, and time management are not just business challenges—they're reflections of personal growth areas.

In this episode of The Work From Anywhere Agent, I share my journey of bringing structure to chaos by hiring an executive assistant. This move allowed me to shift my focus, boost productivity, and truly enjoy the process of business building rather than just chasing after the next task. It's a reminder that sometimes you need to hire for the chaos in your own mind, not just the tasks at hand.

Join me as we explore how embracing brutal honesty with ourselves can lead to business breakthroughs. When you peel back the layers of positivity, confront the uncomfortable truths, and put yourself on a path of continuous growth, real change happens.

I invite you to dive deeper into this journey and share your thoughts in our lively Facebook group. Let's discuss how we can align our personal growth with business success and keep pushing towards our goals. Tune in for today’s episode, and don't forget to explore the 7-Day Funnel Challenge for even more insights. See you there!

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Running a business is like the weirdest thing ever.
I have fully embraced this ideathat your business is a full
reflection of you.
Like, if you're not signing onclients, that's a reflection of
a lack of discipline when itcomes to your lead generation,
or it reflects self-sabotage anda fear of success.
If you're struggling with timemanagement and you find yourself

(00:22):
working like 12 or 14 hours aday, that's probably something
rooted in a need for control, because you don't have systems,
you don't prioritize and you'reprobably not leveraging, and so
like there's all these thingsthat your business becomes a
direct mirror of you.
And if you can step away andkind of zoom out for a second
and be like okay, what is mybusiness telling me right now,
then you can start reallyfocusing on not just fixing the

(00:44):
business but also fixingyourself in a way that you go,
oh, okay, this is something thatI need to work on.
When I was bringing on my VAsand when I was sort of going
through this process ofstructuring my business, it was
almost like I was hiring peoplefor these different roles, but I
didn't hire anyone to managethe chaos in my brain, and what
I mean by that is hiring my ownexecutive assistant, and so

(01:06):
Glenna is who I brought on.
I brought her on in October and, I have to tell you, has
completely changed my life.
So it's pretty common that I goon like these random brain
dumps, right, and I just share awhole bunch of stuff I need
this, I need that, here's all myrandom ideas and so she
basically organizes all of them.
We have a couple of VAs betweenthe Orbit side of our business

(01:27):
and then also my client side ofthe business, and so she's the
one who's kind of like playingair traffic controller, right,
like you go, you go, you do this, you do that, so on and so
forth, so I can focus on beingpresent and in the moment with
the people who are in front ofme and focus on relationship
building.
And so I have to tell you thatyesterday I was actually at a
yoga class and my girlfriend'slike I hadn't seen her in a

(01:49):
while and she's like how are you, what's new?
And I was like you know, I haveto tell you, I feel like I'm so
productive without beingchaotic right now, and the
instructor happened to be likewalking past at that moment and
she's like wow, I love that, I'mgoing to start using that, and
it truly is the most refreshingand liberating feeling of when
you know that things are gettingdone, you know that your

(02:10):
thoughts are organized and allthose things that are like
causing low grade anxiety are nolonger consuming your brain.
And so this made me think backto.
There's a book called A CEO DoesThree Things, and it comes down
to a CEO does literally threethings people, culture and
numbers.
The people and the culture ismaking sure that number one your

(02:32):
people are taken care of, thatyou're leading them well.
The culture is how your clientsare taken care of, the culture
of your team members.
And then the numbers are yourKPIs and the accountability
right.
And so now that I'm focused onhaving basically Glenda be the
sort of air traffic controller,I can focus on the development
of my people and I can focus onall the crazy ideas that I want

(02:54):
to take on.
So tomorrow I'm going to tellyou about my crazy 30-day
experiment that I really justwant to try and see, and I know
that I'm going to be able to onestay consistent with it because
I now have the brain space todo it.
I know I'm going to be able tostay consistent with that
literally, because I have thebrain space to be able to think

(03:14):
about doing that every singleday, and so I'm really excited
to share that with you tomorrow.
But I wanted to remind you thatyour business truly is a
reflection of you, and ifthere's something in your
business that is not working, don't just look at your business
as the problem.
Look at yourself in the mirroror, in this sense, looking at
your business as a mirror andsaying, okay, what is my

(03:35):
business?
Telling me about myself that Ineed to break through.
And if you can do that withoutbeing emotionally defensive,
emotionally detached, if you canbe really, really honest with
yourself about the thing that'sholding you back, I promise you,
when you are ready to fix it,you're going to see that next
breakthrough.
But that truly starts withbeing able to be really brutally

(03:57):
honest with yourself, and thatis the trick of it.
Most of us don't want to behonest with ourselves.
Most of us love being able tosay like I'm awesome and I'm
this, and you know, we may notuse those exact words, but we
might be like I'm so positive,Like I don't want to focus on
the negative.
But it's not about focusing onthe negative, it's about being
realistic and being honest withourselves so that we can fix it.

(04:18):
And sometimes being so positiveforces us to be blind to the
things that are actual problems, because we don't want to be
negative or we don't want to letour vibe or our energy get to
that place, and so we have tosit in the ugly, we have to sit
in the darkness, we have to sitthrough like where those things
are holding us back andunderstanding that the way

(04:38):
through that is trustingyourself enough that you know
that you'll figure out asolution to it.
So understanding andidentifying the problem is not a
negative thing, as long as youvery quickly pivot to how do we
fix this and being okay with thefact that your first or your
second or your third or yourfourth solution might not be the
perfect solution.

(04:59):
Right Like these are things thatwe have to grow through and
lessons that we have to kind oftry and things that we have to
experiment with to make surethat we are growing alongside of
our business, but trusting thateventually you will get it
right.
And this is also where beinggrowth minded and leaning into
your resources, leaning intomentors, leaning into books,

(05:20):
leaning into the all the thingsthat we can learn from other
people's wisdom is where allthis comes into play, and so I
hope that this is helpful today.
I know this is one of thoseairy-fairy type of topics where
it doesn't give you a whole lotto hold on to or to practically
implement, but all I can say isyou and your business are
mirrors of each other, and ifour business is not giving us

(05:43):
the results and the outcome thatwe're looking for, that's okay.
But we have to be really honestwith ourselves.
We have to be willing to lookat ourselves in the mirror, wipe
away the fog, the rose coloredtint that we get to see there,
and just get down to what is thereal issue and how do we start
fixing it.
And then you test and tweak, and test and tweak, and test and
tweak, and test and tweak untilyou figure it out, and that

(06:05):
becomes the new journey.
And so this is where, when theysay being obsessed with a
destination is not going to makeyou happy, it's because if you
don't learn how to fall in lovewith the journey and have fun
with the journey, then you missthe whole point of living, you
miss the whole point of runninga business.
And so, with that in mind, please join us in our daily

(06:25):
discussion in our agent Facebookgroup, and I will see you in
the next episode.
