On this week's program, in segment 1, host Phil Tower, welcomes Michael Wildschut, director of The January Series at Calvin University. The January Series is an award-winning, nationally recognized free 15-day lecture series that takes place each January at Calvin University. It strives to “cultivate deep thought and conversations about important issues of the day in order to inspire cultural renewal and make us better global citizens in God's world.” Michael joined us to highlight the dynamic lineup of speakers scheduled for this year's January series, which will run from January 9-27, 2023. And in our second segment, Phil spoke with Dr. Wendy Falb, Ph.D. Executive Director, Literacy Center West Michigan. Wendy is the Executive Director of The Literacy Center of West Michigan. The focus of the Literacy Center is to “bring about a just and vibrant West Michigan,” and Wendy told us that literacy is more important than ever, especially after the Covid pandemic where there is a significant need for customized workplace English as many employers are meeting literacy challenges, head-on.
