(00:00):
Please just punch to have my friendand congressional candidate for the fourth Congressional District,
Deborah Flora, back with me today. Deborah, lots has happened in
this races the last time you wereon. So let's talk about that special
election. I mean, yes, were you? I mean, what was
the reaction in the Flora household whenyou heard that Ken Buck was just packing
(00:22):
up his marbles and going home.Well, it's funny, Mandy. You
know, this is certainly one ofthe most exciting congressional campaigns on the planet.
Probably went for the record books.I was actually at a lunch for
Republican women and also an entire lunchstopped and everybody is buzzing about this,
and I happened to be, youknow, there with some of the people
who are actively engaged in the process. So, you know, I think
(00:44):
many people knew this was a possibility. Ken has certainly been singling for a
long time that you doesn't really wantto continue with this job. It certainly
does send things into a whole otherlevel because there will be a special election
at the same time there'll be aprimary, and now we're working out the
process and it should be out soon. How that Republican nominee for this special
(01:06):
election will be chosen. So it'sit's lively, let's just say lively.
Well, I'm interested. I'm veryinterested to hear about what that process is
going to be, how open thatprocess is going to be. The Democrats
have come out and said, look, we're going to have a big convention.
It's all going to be online. You can participate, very open process.
We'll see what And I'm sure there'syou know, by laws or rules
or whatever within the party that haveto be followed. But I do hope
(01:32):
that the people who are choosing thiscandidate realize that this is critically important.
Although you know, it's almost Idon't know. I don't want to say.
I don't want to say too muchbecause I don't want to sway anybody's
decision one way or the other. But whoever the nominee is is going to
(01:53):
get a ballot boost just for beingon the ballot twice, right, yes,
yep. And I think what peoplehopefully will be looking at is,
you know, Lauren Bobert is notgoing through this process because this shows very
much to the conflict when you representone district and then suddenly another one is
open, so she would have togive up her seat in CD three in
order to run in the special lession, so she won't be in this one.
(02:15):
So whoever comes out of this willmost likely be the one going head
to head with Lauren Bobert. AndI think for everyone listening, what we've
been hearing on the ground is thatI would be the candidate most likely to
beat her because I am a fighter. But the difference is I find on
principle and policy, not personal attacks. I'm about solutions, not celebrity or
sound bites. And the other thingthat I think a lot of people have
(02:38):
realized. Also, this is avery different district after redistricting. Is now
seventy three percent suburban, it's fortyseven percent unaffiliated. So it's not only
who is the conservative fighter you canbe proud of, which I am,
it is who can win and keepthis seat in the Republican column. We
all know how this district is changingand the creep coming down into Douglas County,
(03:00):
Denver of those who are waking upand realize those policies don't work,
that there has to be the nomineefor this seat that can persuade those people
to stick with us, that ourpolicies are the best, that we have
the solutions to all the issues we'refacing well. And I'm one of the
things I've always liked about you whenyou were on the radio at a competitor
(03:21):
station is that you do probably someof the best job that I've ever seen
of explaining why conservative principles are goodfor everyone, because I think that's been
an area of failure for the RepublicanParty nationally for years. I think they've
done a really lousy job explaining tosomeone who is barely getting by and barely
(03:42):
putting groceries on the table, whythese policies are good for them, right,
And you do a really good jobwith that, And I think you're
right. I'm not sure. AndI live in the suburban part of the
fourth Congressional District, and when Italk to people about this race, people
are I mean Republicans are mortified atthe thought of having an Instagram congresswoman.
They don't want that. They don'twant someone building a brand, they want
(04:04):
someone representing the fourth That's exactly right. And people everywhere, even you know,
Eastern planes down in Backa County whereI'm going to be tonight the most
southeastern district up to Phillips County, out to kit Carson and then all the
way to Highland's Ranch. What theyreally want is a conservative fighter. They
can be proud of someone fighting forsolutions on principles and policies, not personalities.
(04:26):
But even more so, I thinkwhat people understand, even if they
used to support Lauren before, isthey want someone who is here to stay.
This is my home. I've beenliving, fighting, working beside my
neighbors for years. And after theSenate election, when I came to thirty
eight votes short of not advancing, the number one thing I heard Mandy was,
(04:46):
wow, you didn't go anywhere.You didn't leave. I'm like,
where would I go? This ismy home. And I hope that listeners
understand, voters understand that while wehave a lot of people in this CD
four race who are leaving their homeconstituents, I will never do that.
I am here, ready to fight. This is my home where I've been
for years, and people really dowant representative government. They don't want people
(05:10):
jumping around or following personal agendas. They want someone who is in it for
them. Well, you know,I can't help but think I mean,
who's representing the third right now?Who is who is taking care of the
people of the third district right now? And I think that that is a
I think that's a valid criticism andsomething that you know. I know that
(05:30):
Lauren has said she's back in thedistrict every week. But you cannot serve
two masters, and it's very difficult, as you just mentioned, like all
of the places that you just mentioned. All I could think of was,
I hope you've got some good podcaststo listen to you and you're driving,
because you are driving a lot inthat well going around to see these Yeah,
Mandy. And here's the thing is, even though we know that Douglas
(05:54):
County is forty seven percent of theelectorate the Republican, the suburban areas seventy
three percent. However, I wanteveryone to know I will be incredibly present
in all twenty one counties. Infact, since I got in the race,
I put eight thousand miles on mycar and my husband said, that
is literally crossing the United States ofAmerica from coast to coast, not one,
(06:15):
not twice, but three times. And that's how I will be.
It does require someone that is present, It requires someone that has deep roots
here. It requires someone who understandsour neighbors and the fight that we've been
fighting here, you know, asyou know director of Public Policy, radio
hosts founder, Parents and I inAmerica. I helped flip our school board
in Douglas County. I've been fightingand going down to the border and working
(06:36):
to reverse our sanctuary status. SoI have been proving to the people of
this district that I am here, this is my home, and I can
persuade our neighbors that we have thesolutions to secure our border. Two and
thirty four trillion dollars of debt that, by the way, every one hundred
days is going up a trillion. You and I are moms. That's immoral
(06:58):
to put on the backs of ourchildren. It's unsustainable as well. I've
been fighting against the overreach of governmentto every single person's life, and I
will do that. The only goodthing about Ken stepping out is I hope
I get to start doing that onJune twenty six instead of waiting until January
twenty twenty five. That's my goal. Deborah Flora is my guest. You
can find out more about her byclicking through to Deborah Flora dot com.
(07:23):
I put a link on my blogtoday in case you are stumped by the

(07:43):

day one. All right, DebrahFlora, I appreciate you making time for
(08:03):

that comes out soon and we canmove forward from there. Depa. Good
