Huh?

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Well, you said the word visit so I'm going to
assume that perhaps you're from out of town, which I
would then leave my child home with you. I mean,
I don't know what this guy does for work. If
he's at home and meetings and just can't have that,
you know, noise in the background. I'm not really sure.
But if you did visit, then I don't see what

(03:23):
the problem is to leave the girl home. I mean,
she's not going to like miss out on anything, maybe
daycare exactly.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
You're not missing out too much and I don't know

up while you were talking about your family and he
was talking so much.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
And no, he references kids a lot. He just didn't.
He didn't refer to the number kids that he had.

What almar Courney Lopez. Here a few more songs that
we're gonna get. Today's guest it is actor Jason Scott Lee.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
He played Mowgli in a live action jungle book back
in the day. His new movie is called The Wind
and the Reckoning and we'll find out all about that.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
Net tebro Mario Lopez joining me Dowt in studio for
the new movie The Wind and the Reckoning Actor Jason
Scott Lee. Welcome to the show Man. How I do it?

Speaker 8 (09:22):
Thank you? Good good, Right on.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
So, the new movie is a historical western based on
true events. I love history, I love westerns. This is
right up, my ali.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
What's it about.

Speaker 7 (09:33):
It's about a pandemic of leprosy that hit the Hawaiian
Islands back in the eighteen nineties, and.

Speaker 8 (09:39):
Actually a little bit before that.

Speaker 7 (09:41):
But this story takes place like in eighteen ninety three
and there's a whole you know, kind of conflict going
on with the Hawaiian government being overthrown by Hawaiian by American.

Speaker 5 (09:54):
Businessman because of the leprosy, oh no.

Speaker 7 (09:56):
Because of just taking over or the authority of the islands.
So that's sort of the background of the story when
it takes place. The story itself is really about this family,
this Hawaiian family from the island of Kawaii who contracts leprosy,
the father and son do and the new provisional government

(10:19):
that's in place changes this laws and forces all these
people in this pandemic to get taken to the island
of Molokai for quarantine. Basically it's the island of the
living dead, so it's it's taking all this So it's
a big thing that that happened. And this family refuses
to separate from each other because the mother would be

(10:41):
left behind, the wife would be left behind. So they
decide to fight, and they decide to escape into the
valleys in on the island of Kawaii and then try
to hide out. And there was a scuffle that happened
before they they took off, which killed the sheriff. And
so this character I play Coolau is blamed for this

(11:03):
death of the sheriff, so they sent a regiment of soldiers,
government soldiers out to trying to retrieve this family and
other renegade leprosy people.

Speaker 4 (11:15):
Nice. Well, the movie is called The Wind in the Reckoning.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
It's out now, hold on, we're gotta more with Jason
Scott Lee coming up.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
Moora, Mario Lopez coming up, Mario Lopez.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
Here was Jason Scott Lee in studio. We're talking about
the movie The Wind in the Reckoning. And did you
ever see a movie starring Steve McQueen does not have
been called Papillon I did.

Speaker 4 (11:35):
I love that movie.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
I remember when they go to the island and it's
all full of lepers. Was that sort of well, no,
that took place in France, but that's essentially and it
it was around the same time it sounded, so this
was during that era man leprosy. For some reason, you're
not familiar with it.

Speaker 4 (11:49):
It is it is.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
It is a tough, a tough disease to get to
deal with. Physically, you get like these boils and these bubbles.

Speaker 5 (11:56):
It's really and yeah, at the time, there's no cure, right.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
There's no cure and there's some that when it's not contagious,
there's something that's contagious, and there's some that's not contagious.

Speaker 8 (12:05):
Right. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (12:06):
And it's a funny thing that because we shot this
film during the pandemic, So we're shooting there about a
pandemic during the pandemic, and you know, and it was
the thing just like COVID.

Speaker 8 (12:16):
There was no cures.

Speaker 7 (12:17):
There was nothing at the time, and and people said,
you know, once you got it, you know, you're dead.

Speaker 8 (12:22):
And some people got it and some people didn't.

Speaker 7 (12:24):
Like the wife and mother of this family, she didn't
get it. I she was with them every day, you know,
And that's that's wild.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
Well, you can see the wind in the reckoning now
in theaters. Hold on, Jason have plays more music? What
Amaro Lopez here? Got actor Jason.

Speaker 4 (12:40):
Scott Lee in studio with me.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
And you're also in the Disney Plus show Doogie Kami
Aloha you Got It, which is essentially sort of doogie Howser,
but happens to be with this female girl now correct?

Speaker 8 (12:54):
Correct?

Speaker 2 (12:55):
And where did they shoot that show up?

Speaker 8 (12:56):
By the way, we shoot that in Honolulu or on
the island of Oahu.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
So you do why youre getting scurse A really cool goal, bro.

Speaker 7 (13:02):
I mean, like, I live on the Big Island, so
if you happen to live there already, Yeah, I lived
there in a big island. I worked, I grew up
in the Islands. I grew up there, and many years
ago I decided to move back. And it's been you know,
going back and forth to the.

Speaker 8 (13:14):
Continent and stuff. But uh yeah, you know, I don't.

Speaker 7 (13:18):
I throughout my career, I never had that much chance
to work in the Islands, like on long term. I
had did maybe like some guest spots on five Oho
and stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
But of course when you moved then all this stuff,
right that crazy.

Speaker 7 (13:29):
So now it's like, you know, you know, you know,
man's with family. It's like it's good to be close
work close to home. Right, Yeah, it's wonderful.

Speaker 2 (13:36):
Can't can't get better than that? How and how was
that show to work on? That must have been fun with.

Speaker 7 (13:40):
That's fun, you know, you know, it's light, it's like comedy, yeah,
and it's a it's a family guy and you know
he's he's got little pearls of wisdom that he dropped
from time to time. He's a surfer, and uh, you know,
it's like ask for more.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
Let's get back to music. You're al Mario Lopez. We're
happing things up with actor Jason and uh when your
first film, Roles I think was back in the eighties
and born in East la with Cheiach rent. Oh, yeah,
he's a great guy on Cheach Well, what do you
remember about that time?

Speaker 7 (14:09):
During that time, I remember him and and and he
was like doing Taichi in the morning.

Speaker 8 (14:13):
He was running like five miles, you know.

Speaker 7 (14:16):
And he was the director, right, so yeah, he had
all this stuff going on, he had all this other
experience and and I just cleaned off that, you know.
And we had all the other Latino actors around that
that inspired me.

Speaker 8 (14:27):
That kind of took me under the wing, you know.

Speaker 7 (14:30):
And and it was just a fun time in Tijuana.

Speaker 8 (14:33):
And it was like my first feature.

Speaker 7 (14:36):
And I was gosh, I was like maybe eighteen nineteen
years old or something like that and just wide eyed,
you know. And and she brought all these people collectively
from Europe, like when his days in Amsterdam and stuff,
you know, and and they were just a wild crew
and it was just like wow, I remember it was
someone's birthday in the in the in the cast and

(14:58):
we took they rented this bus like a school boss,
and we all piled on it and then and I
was just a kid.

Speaker 8 (15:04):
You know.

Speaker 7 (15:04):
It's just like white eyed and all these guys are
like just partying and like I was.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
Like, whoa.

Speaker 5 (15:10):
He's like no, no, no, thank you.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
That set was a fun set, you know. Think about
Cheeese too. Is like he does like to have a
good time. But he's a really smart guy. Really into art, yeah,
and very smart. He's even at an art museum. His
dad was a chief of police, so it's not he's
very different from the stoner character dad was chief. Yeah,
he does like the he does like to get stole. Yeah,

(15:33):
don't get that twisted. But he's also a very smart
guy and he likes all this other stuff.

Speaker 8 (15:37):
You mentioned that too.

Speaker 7 (15:38):
He said, you know, the police that he grew up
with had a very askeuge sense of humor.

Speaker 5 (15:43):
He always like talked about.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
That, like, yeah, that's funny, man. That's great. Congratulations on everything.
You can watch The Wind in the Reckoning in theaters now, Jason,
thanks so much, training.

Speaker 6 (15:53):

Mario Courtney Lopez. Here, let's put a spotlight on my
wife at this time for Courtney's random thought.

Speaker 4 (16:33):
What you got, honey?

Speaker 3 (16:34):
Have you ever noticed that you can hear the TV
better when you have the subtitles on?

Speaker 4 (16:41):
Well, you make out what they're saying. I don't know
if you necessarily hear it. Here's the thing.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
I don't have a problem with subtitles watching hold On,
Hold On. I don't have a problem with subtitles watching
a foreign film. I don't mind foreign films. However, it
bothers me when they're on in an American film In
an English film, the English speaking film your Mom, because
she wears hearing it can't hear, and sometimes it's hard
to find and to turn off. And but I don't

(17:06):
know why it bugs me in an English speaking film,
but in a foreign film, I don't have a problem
with it.

Speaker 3 (17:11):
But listen, We've watched so many things where they speak
so soft and you can't really and I wish that
the subtitles were on because there are many scenes that
I just miss and I can't hear.

Speaker 5 (17:24):
I do understand what he's saying, though, because if you do,
like you walk in a room and you look at
a TV and they're on.

Speaker 4 (17:29):
You watch the subtitle, it's like it's distracted. I get it.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
But in a foreign film, it's not for someone because
because you need it, no idea.

Speaker 4 (17:37):
But in an English is that weird?

Speaker 2 (17:38):
Okay?

Speaker 4 (17:38):
I'm not alone in this.

Speaker 2 (17:41):
Yamar Courtney Lopez, a universal does not want Fast and
Furious to end.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
On Mapez Hollywood, But.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
So Fast ten drops this week. It was originally supposed
to be the first half of a two part finale
for the franchise, so really sort of part one and
part two of an end movie.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
Kind of weird.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
Anyway, even Diesel says after the studio watch it, they
want to make the finale a trilogy. Wow, can't really
be a trilogy if it's the tenth film. But I
guess what he's saying.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
Is three pieces for this.

Speaker 4 (18:14):
We could be getting a surprise twelfth film.

Speaker 3 (18:17):
That's kind of like when a CD has a bonus track.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
Yeah, this, I gotta imagine is a record. I don't
think there's ever been a franchise with. If it goes
through twelve installments of a film, that's incredible.

Speaker 4 (18:30):
I can't think of another one.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
I haven't seen one.

Speaker 2 (18:33):
I saw literally the first one and that's it.

Speaker 4 (18:35):
But twelve.

Speaker 9 (18:36):
It's been a long day without two of my film.
And I'll tell you all about it when a see
you look.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
Or Mario Lopez coming up?

Speaker 2 (18:51):
What a Mario Corney Lopez here. Miley Cyrus getting a
head start on swimsuit season, just dropped a new video
for her song Jaded.

Speaker 3 (18:58):
Pure summer Vibes. I don't know if it's been warm
enough yet for some of those outfits, but she looks great.
You can see it for yourself at all with Mario
dot com.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
Mario Lopez here, my wife Cordy. Let's say quick logo,
what's turning on her website?

Speaker 3 (19:10):
Harry Styles covers one Direction At a recent.

Speaker 4 (19:13):
Concert, Oh okay, Ed Sheeran.

Speaker 3 (19:16):
Joins forces with Luke Combs on stage.

Speaker 2 (19:18):
He's in a good mood since went in that lawsuit.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
And the celebrity Tom Cruise is rumored to be dating now.

Speaker 4 (19:25):
They're just kind of trying to force that to happen.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
It's so silly.

Speaker 4 (19:27):
You can see what everyone's talking about.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
It on with Mario dot Com. You' all Mario, Courtney Lopez.
Time for one last thing. I had officially the worst
travel experience of my life this past weekend when I
had to go to New York or a day on
the heels. Mind you of coming from Las Vegas, where
we didn't get to do our usual sleep in because

(19:50):
we had to get up really first since tournament.

Speaker 3 (19:52):
Although I took a nice nap on.

Speaker 4 (19:54):
I know, I'm very jealous. And what did I do?
I went to mass.

Speaker 5 (19:57):
You went to church.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
He's the only person I know.

Speaker 4 (19:58):
Oh you went to you said, yea, I'm gonna pay
for you. You said, I went to church.

Speaker 3 (20:02):
He's the only person I know who goes to Vegas.

Speaker 5 (20:04):
To go to church. That's because Mark is there. It's
because Mark Wahlberg's there.

Speaker 2 (20:07):
He is there. But we caught up. We went to mass.
We're keeping each other accountable. We did a nice little mother.
But that's not the point of this. The point is
I was scheduled to go to New York that night
from Vegas, and my flight on the way got delayed
two hours, and then on the tarmac delayed yet another hour.
That's not the worst. On the way back, I was,

(20:28):
I thought, okay, nice, I was supposed to land at
eight pm, Gonna come home at a decent hour. Be
a little tired, but it'd be all right. The plane
that I was on had my shoes off, already ordered
to drink, was ready to relax. We were there for
an hour and then they said we had to pack
up our stuff. We're leaving to go to another plane.
And I said, oh, and they said the plane was
ready right. I was like, okay, no problem, will be

(20:49):
an hour later. I show but nine whatever go. When
I get on the other plane, we're hanging out on
that other plane for another hour. I'm like, this is
not good. Have the shoes off and everything. They make
us get off that plane, or like, oh my gosh,
this is a mechanical issue that they couldn't rectify. I
went to the gate where we were supposed to board
on yet another plane. Six hours later, they finally canceled

(21:13):
the flight. I actually was pretty cool the whole time.

Speaker 4 (21:16):
I don't know why.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
I think I was so tired. I just didn't.

Speaker 4 (21:18):
I was taking care of stuff on the phone, tooling around.

Speaker 2 (21:21):
You got a smoothie, Yeah, I had a horrible smoothie.
Everybody got a food voucher but me. They sent me
the email. Well, because I didn't built the flight, I
didn't get it. I s got a food voucher and
I was like, oh my gosh. So I ended up
coming back the next but it was just an awful experience.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
The bright side is you weren't stranded with kids.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
Oh my gosh, that didn't even cross my mind.

Speaker 4 (21:43):
Yeah, that would have been really weird.

Speaker 3 (21:45):
Can I give you another tip? Yes, perhaps everyone left
the plane because you kept taking your shoes.

Speaker 8 (21:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (21:50):
I was gonna say, maybe you don't take your shoes
off so quickly.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
More fun. On the way on with Mario Lopez.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
All right, trying to pass some eyes, I already looked
looking forward to tomorrow. We're going to face off on
a pop culture pop quiz and learn a new life hack.
Until then, Mario Courtney Lopez saying good night.
