February twenty twenty five, and the upcoming bladeer Rey Boot

(05:14):

King prequel is delayed until next Christmas. So there you go.
What Amara Courney Lopez here, Mariah Carey trying now do
Santa this year?

Speaker 3 (05:27):
She could be giving us with a new album, you
guys in twenty twenty four. Hey, apparently she's already ten
songs deep. Her latest album was Caution in twenty eighteen.
I don't really remember.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
I think she had a couple I think she had
a couple cuts that were hot. So I'm like, yo, right, yes, yeah,
now Mariah really don't miss too much, so I'm looking
forward to that. All right, Let's get back to the music. Yeah,
Amrio Courney Lopez. Back to the music in a moment.
But right now, let's get to the Hollywood buzz.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
On with Mario.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Hollywood buzz Hollywood continue to more in the Loss of
Matthew Perry. Apparently, right before passing, Matthew was talking about
making a movie about his life, and it was going
to be about his battle and recovery from addiction, and
he wanted Zach Efron to play his younger self. They
had been buddies since acting together in the twenty nine
film Seventeen Again. Zach says he's honored that Matthew would

(06:17):
consider him.

Speaker 6 (06:18):
Well.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
Hopefully he already got the ball rolling for this project
and it will come to fruition and Zach can play him.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
Hey, that would be another way to honor him. So
we'll see if that happens.

Speaker 5 (06:32):
More details and on with Mario Dotcom. Happy holidays from
the entire on with Mario fam more fest and.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
Fun coming up.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
What a Mario Lopez here? Today's guest is a Grammy
winning artist who's on his eighth season as a coach
on The Boy, says John Legend. Coming up next, it's

(07:00):
uby all Mario Lopez joining me now on Zoom twelve
time Grammy winning artists, My guy, John Legend, welcome back, man,
How are you?

Speaker 4 (07:07):
Mario is always good to see you, my friend.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
Thank you, Thank you, sir. How's the family? Congrats on
the newest baby.

Speaker 4 (07:13):
Thank you.

Speaker 6 (07:14):
We got four kids now and things are exciting over
in our house.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
You kind of went back to back, right, because one's
about ten months and the other ones three four months
something like that.

Speaker 6 (07:25):
As you just turned nine months and Wren is about
to turn four months. Dan, we had Wren with the
surrogate so it explains the cod word between them.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
It's like Chrissy out here, defiant biology. You know what's
funny modern sign right exactly. I was going to try
to go for John, but my third one is such
a lunatic in just a complete MANIOC broke to TVs.
I mean, he's out of control. So now we tapped
out at three. But God bless you. That's awesome.

Speaker 4 (07:55):
Man.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
How are the older kids handling the expanding family.

Speaker 6 (07:59):
They're doing now? It took Miles a little while because
he was the baby, you know, when it were just
two of them. Yeah, and he wanted to stay the
baby for a while, and he got it for five years.
But you know, he had to relinquish the title and
it took him a second. But he's very good with
the kids. He's very good with the babies. And it

(08:20):
was just more him kind of acting out to get
our attention, to make sure we knew that he was
still there.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
That's that tough waters to navigate. I know how that feels.

Speaker 4 (08:32):
Well.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
We had a lot to talk about today, but we
got to play some more music now, so whole tight
Junkie Jarl Mario Lopez been talking parenting with John Legend,
and I'd rather that you found yourself becoming more of
your own father these days.

Speaker 4 (08:45):
Yeah, you know, I was already kind of.

Speaker 6 (08:48):
My personality is a lot like his anyway, and I
find myself sounding like him to my kids.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
Yeah, is that a good thing? Was he his tough
dad or pretty laid back?

Speaker 4 (08:58):
Oh? He's very laid back. I mean you see me?

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Okay, he's very.

Speaker 4 (09:03):
Calm and unflappable.

Speaker 6 (09:05):
But also like loves music that's cool, and.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
Uh, and loves to like just he was just.

Speaker 6 (09:11):
A very fun dad to have because he always had
like fun games.

Speaker 4 (09:16):
To play, like that's cool, scatting from hunts.

Speaker 6 (09:18):
And and he was always really creative with us, and uh,
just a great dad all around.

Speaker 4 (09:23):
So if if I'm like him, I'll be very happy.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
Oh that's great to say. Man, Well, why do we
take a little break? But I've got more with John
Legend coming on.

Speaker 5 (09:31):
The Countdown at Christmas continues in moments This is on
with Mario Lopez.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
What about Mario Lopez here hanging out with Grammy winning
artist John Legend, And we're kind of on the same
program here because I know you and Chrissy recently celebrated
your tenth winning anniversary, so absolutely so did we, So
congratulations regulations, thank you sir. Did you did y'all do
anything special?

Speaker 6 (09:52):
Or We did a huge party and in the place
where we got married last time, so at the same
venue at Lake Como. If people watched the All of
Me video at the end of the video, the whole
video was recorded at Lake Como, but the end of
the video was our actual wedding when we were walking
back up the aisle together and we went to that

(10:14):
same venue and had a big celebration with our family.

Speaker 4 (10:19):
There was about one hundred and sixty guests, and.

Speaker 6 (10:22):
We didn't actually renew our vows, so we didn't have
another ceremony like that. But it was just a party
and the dinner and music and comedy and we gave
speeches to each other and and got new rings for
each other, all of that, and it was really amazing.

Speaker 4 (10:37):
We had a wonderful time.

Speaker 6 (10:38):
It was just a cool way to celebrate and we
were able to do it with the kids there, which
you know, there were no kids ten years ago, and
I think that was the biggest, you know, upgrade for
the wedding the presence of our kids, knowing that they're
the product of our marriage and and they mean so

(10:58):
much to us, and for them to see us celebrate
our love like that was pretty cool.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
Mario Lopez here, I got John Legend on zoom with me.
So you're here today to promote the latest COVID booster.
Why did why'd you get this season shot?

Speaker 6 (11:11):
You know, COVID keeps changing, you know, it mutates, and
the pharmaceuticals companies are staying on top of it. They're
seeing what's out there and trying to keep the vaccine
updated to accommodate the latest variants. And so, yeah, I
want to keep my family healthy. I want to keep
myself healthy. So we all got our booster.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
And I always say health should be the number one priority,
because if you don't have that, nothing else matter, exactly.

Speaker 6 (11:39):
And you know, I'm really grateful that they were able
to develop the vaccine so quickly that they're staying on
top of the variants. If you just recall a few
years ago how lockdown we were, how much life was
disrupted by this virus. The fact that the vaccines came
along and helped mitigate at the worst effects of the

(12:01):
virus has really changed the world, and I'm grateful for that,
and I want to stay on top of it because
COVID's not gone and we should still protect ourselves from it.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Mario Lopez, my guest today is the iconic John Legend,
And I'm curious, Sean, does your eldest play the piano?

Speaker 4 (12:19):
Both both to.

Speaker 6 (12:21):
Both of the two older ones are taking lessons. They're
just early on though, so they're not really doing much.
But it's the beginning.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
No, it's the beginning. So what I want your advice?
So mine played too, But you know there's those days
and I don't know if you went through this as
a kid, where you know, sometimes they want to practice
and this and that do I I don't want to
say four that's the wrong word, but but I know
the regret it, right, anybody that plays a piano and quit,
they regret it later on, and I don't want that
to happen. So what do you suggest? And so my

(12:48):
son recently has been getting into hearing a lot of
these boy bands for some reason, like Backs Three Boys,
and and he's singing and he's playing, and so he's
got a little think. My daughter's the one who's naturally
so talented at it. She's like because she just turned thirteen,
so she's going through those little thing but I don't
want her to quit, So any suggestions.

Speaker 7 (13:05):
Well, you know what I found with music is you've
got to make it as fun and relevant as possible
to make people want to practice.

Speaker 4 (13:16):
Yea.

Speaker 6 (13:16):
So for me, it was hard for me to want
to practice some of the classical stuff because it always
felt like work.

Speaker 4 (13:24):
It's always oh.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
Yeah, yeah, you're not listening to that, so yeah, you're right, Yeah.

Speaker 6 (13:28):
It's felt like stuff I wouldn't listen to, And so
it was hard to get excited about learning how to
play it. But if they find a kind of music
that they really love, and for me, playing by ear
really helped me get excited, and because I could listen
to the radio and just try to learn the song.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
As I heard it, you know.

Speaker 6 (13:45):
And I think if your son's getting into boy bands,
like learn those INSANCT songs, learn those Backstreet Boys, learn
the BTS songs.

Speaker 4 (13:54):
Like learn how to play them by ear, and I think.

Speaker 6 (13:56):
You'll have that excitement of learning something that's relevant to
you and that you would listen to. And then I
think finding outlets for performance is another way to motivate practice,
because if you know you've got to go on stage
and do it, it's going to force you to do
the work at the time.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
Good advice. Well, thank you so much. I got to
take a little break, but I got one more thing
I want to ask you. We're gonna wrap it up
with John Legend in just a moment.

Speaker 1 (14:18):
You're the full interview.

Speaker 5 (14:19):
Now at On with Mario dot Com, Tabby Holidays from
the entire On with Mario, fam or Fest and fun
coming up.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
Borlopez here wrapping things up with today's guys, John Legend,
and real quick, I know you've got some live shows
coming up. Do you mix in holiday songs on the
set list yet or how do you figure it out?

Speaker 4 (14:37):
You know, that's an interesting suggestion.

Speaker 6 (14:39):
I did my you know, legendary Christmas album a few
years ago, and we started the tour November, like thirteenth
or something, and it about too early.

Speaker 4 (14:52):
Yeah, no, people aren't ready for it.

Speaker 6 (14:54):
But as soon as Thanksgiving week came, that's when it
felt like, okay, now this feels right.

Speaker 4 (14:59):
Well.

Speaker 2 (14:59):
Always not catching up with you, man, and listen. Go
to Olinmario dot com for tickets and tour dates, John,
thanks for hanging out.

Speaker 4 (15:07):
Thank you, Mario.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
Great to see you you too, buddy. I'll see you
all right, right, Mario Courtney Lopez here, if you don't
have plans for New Year's yet, you should definitely get
on this week's sweepstakes one listener and I guess we'll
go to Vegas to usher in the new year at
the Post Malone Concert.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
Ooh.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
The prize includes airfare, two night's hotel, concert tickets, and
two hundred and fifty dollars towards meals Big things to
fount in Blue Las Vegas for hooking it up to
enter and get rules, just go to on with Mario
dot com.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
Yoll Mariol Courtney Lopez. And there's a new documentary on
Paramount Plus that we recently checked out, and I got
to say, I really enjoyed it. I thought it was
incredibly well done. It was on Millie Vanilli, who of
course became infamous for a musical scandal back in the
late eighties when it was found out that they didn't

(15:56):
actually sing right on any of their tracks. Is ironic
because I have many artists now who don't really sing
with auto tune and what have you. But what I
found fascinating is that they had this meteoric rise basically
from nineteen eighty eight to eighty nine, and it all
came crashing down in ninety so in a matter of
a year and a half, they were selling millions and

(16:20):
millions of albums like at a Michael Jackson level all
over the world, and then it just came crashing down
like an avalanche. It was wild. And it was this
guy named Frank Farrion, who's sort of like Lou Pearlman
with the boy bands, because he had done this before.
Millivanilli wasn't his first act. The first act he got caught.

(16:41):
I'll leave you with this. It was Milli Vanilli who
caused their own demise. They started believing their own hype,
and they started to threaten Frank Farrion for more money,
this and that, and he said, okay, I'm gonna come clean,
Frank Ferry. They didn't believe him, and he did, and
the rest is history. I'm not doing justice, but he

(17:02):
did so so good, right, honey, very very good.

Speaker 3 (17:05):
I fell asleep for the last twenty but I'm sure
it ended great.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
Well, you know how it ended.

Speaker 5 (17:11):
The Countdown at Christmas continues in moments. This is on
with Mario Lopez.

Speaker 2 (17:17):
Mario Courtney Lopez here with a chance to win a
Christmas getaway. We are sending one winner and three guests
to New York City to see Trans Siberian Orchestra in concert.
We're going to cover airfare, three nights, hotel, dinner for
four thousand dollars shopping spree plus front road concert tickets.

Speaker 3 (17:32):
All you have to do to enter is open the
iHeartRadio app and listen to Trans Siberian Orchestra. Big thanks
to Wild Child Touring for providing the prize. Go to
on with Mario dot com for more info.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
Mario Lopez here got more music in the mix. But
real quick, we got your first look at the new
movie from my boy Mark Wahlberg. It's called The Family Plan.
Mark is a spy turned dad who's now changing diapers
all while killing assassins. There's a plot on the Apple
TV on December fifteenth, but you can see the trailer
now Onmario dot com. No, Mario Courtney Lopez, there's now

(18:08):
an app. Honey, You're gonna trip out on this. It
lets you book a private restroom when you're not at home.
It's basically an uber for bathrooms. It's called rest space. Okay,
Airbnb for bathrooms for about fifteen bucks. You give fifteen
minutes in someone's restroom, and if you're looking for extra money,
you can list your own bathroom on the site. So

(18:28):
if you're traveling across country, if you just really got
to go, so I ask you, would you let someone
just come to the crib post up and drop bombs
at Casta Lopez.

Speaker 3 (18:38):
This might be the most disgusting thing I've ever heard of.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
This is a real thing. I sent it to Fraser
and it's a real thing. It's so strange.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
I think you might be the only customer for this,
like you, because I know like you at one time
stopped and used the restroom someone's house here in the
Boston Marathon and then they fed you lunch.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
Crme finished, So like it's kind of like that, but
you did it without the app. People who do this
women who are nursing. Okay, someone who's hotel got canceled
for whatever reason. They need a little freshen up.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
Yeah, no thanks, they can go to Starbucks down the street.
Ralphs has a good bathroom here.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
Let us know what you think on Twitter and on
with Mario.

Speaker 5 (19:21):
Happy Holidays from the entire On with Mario fam, more
fest and fun coming up.

Speaker 2 (19:26):

Legend for hanging out on Mario dot com for more
of my chat with him. And there's more fun tomorrow.
The County is from the Real Housewives of New York.

Speaker 3 (19:36):

Masked Singer and more. Till then, Mario and Courtney Lopez
saying good night and Happy Holidays.
