Phil Collin. Everybody, Phil,Hi, Welcome to the show. Phil
Collin of course of def Leppard.Oh yeah, we talked to him all
the time. It's nice to hearit from you again. You're doing some
more stuff, imagine that. Hell, yeah, we're great man. Tell
us a little bit about this. You're working with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and
and and is it? Is itjust a money grab or are you getting
(00:21):
in there and playing with them? What's going on? Money grab? You
mean us? They grabbing money fromus? Tusting a full tune? So
yeah, but I don't think recordsmoney grabbing anymore. That they're kind of
there are labels to actually do itbecause you want to do it. It's
like it's very hard to make moneyon records these days. The only reason
(00:42):
we would do it is if wecould have total control. So you're working
with the Royal Philharmonica. Yeah, actually it's an honor. Yeah, you
work with the Royal Filharmonic, right, it is. But we we actually
wanted complete control on it. Wewe got our own arranger in the string
arranger Erictical Fame, and literally caughtthe tracks to pieces and started again actually
and then and it worked a treat. I love the way it turned out,
(01:06):
we think is amazing. And thebest part was the Ram Philharmonic recording
their part live Abbey Row Studios infeThat was a trip. Wow. Yeah,
the reviews are pretty good. Imean, the melodies breathe new life
into Hysteria classics. The vocal harmoniessound as fresh as they did in the
late eighties. And it's so yougo back and you take the original vocals
(01:27):
from Joe and lay those down onthis album. Most of it, but
the song called some Sugar on itdidn't work in its old form, so
we had to rerecord the whole thing. And there's another couple too late for
Love. The original vocal once wegot rid of the drums and the guitars
and replaced some of it with thecello, didn't work, so he had
(01:49):
to go in and resing that. Most part the stuff was seamless. The
other backing vocals that we did becausewe multi tracked, they sound like a
choir, as you know, requireswork great with orchestras. So all of
this stuff was was pretty amazing. And then some of the guitars worked perfectly.
There's a song called paper Son thatwe did offer euphoria and that just
(02:12):
sounds insane. With the orchestra itskind of same. We have Nerd before.
It's like what Beethoven would be doingif he was still alive. So
that's what I want to ask youthough, is is all this stuff you're
doing for this album or you didfor this album something you could have done
decades ago? Or is this somethingthat only technology allows to happen? Yeah,
to a degree, I think technologydoes allow you to do stuff like
(02:38):
this. Yeah, we wouldn't havegot the time. I think more than
anything else that the time restraint sortof would build us. But yeah,
this worked out great. An indigitaland being able to be in different countries
and different places really really helped.Yeah. I imagine any self respecting def
Leppard fan needs this in their collectionbecause us of what we're hearing today,
(03:00):
Phil Collin, it sounds really cool. The Royal Philharmonica they hitting me up
for tickets to the show. ToughConnection going to be playing on the tour.
Obviously it's it's after more wait wait, don't go back you kind of
they're touring with you guys, NoMorue, Yeah right right, Yeah,
(03:22):
you're cutting out a little bit sowe weren't sure where we left off there.
All right, So let's let's talkabout the tour. Its Phil Collin
from def Leppard legendary band here. The tour is incredible. You guys ready
for this? How much work isthis tour? Phil? Well, we've
already done US last year, We'vedone the stadium in US, and we've
just done a stadium tour in SouthAmerica about two months ago, which was
(03:46):
amazing. It was insane, youknow, really passionate audience. And then
we're doing the European part starting onMonday. Now I only see five shows.
How many shows do you play?Do you expect to play? Oh?
Okay, that was Yeah, you'regoing around the world. That's awesome.
Yeah, you're just tooking out theUS part. When we started Sheffield,
and we go to Germany, Italy, Spain, Hungry, Poland,
(04:10):
France, Yeah, Belgium, Scandinavia, Norway, Cope and copenag and I
think we're playing there and Sweden. So we're doing all these places as well.
So and then by the end ofthe year we do Japan and Australia
as well, so it's pretty jampacked throughout the year. It's been the
kind of we're living in a crazyworld, and it was that, you
know, shows what happened to Rick? Is Rick gonna be on this tour?
Wild story? I think? So? Yeah? What was it yesterday?
(04:35):
Okay, well, I mean, you know, just a couple of
weeks ago, we've learned about someonesome Yeah, you're attacking him at a
hotel. You know, it's beengreat. He's totally all right. Listen,
we appreciate the time, good luckon the tour. Bay we get
a better connection next time, butwe certainly will go out and grab the
album. Drastic Symphonies, Thanks PhilPhil Collin from Deaf Lebert. It's quinnycan
