(00:00):
My Patty said, son, you'regonna drive me to drinking if you don't
stop driving out hot rod. Lincoln'srocking on the rady easy down the road.
Just keep cutting. Good afternoon, and welcome to the Car Show with

(00:21):
Dale don him in on fifty fivecare CD talk station. Yes, it's
like riding a bike. I'm back. I gotta thank my son, Dane
Donovan for doing an outstanding job.Um, you know he's been Uh,
he's been doing the show. Yes, I was out of town and and
uh, thanks to my sun Dane, I was able to enjoy some time

(00:43):
away and and uh, you knowhe's doing a great job. So I
really do appreciate it. I mean, having three kids, you know,
three kids, and and uh youknow, each of one of them is
in two different sports. Uh,so he's had to sacrifice quite a bit.
But man, I just uh,I'd love to hear from some of
you listeners. I haven't talked tosome of you in quite a while,

(01:03):
but I'm here filling in. Hisson has a has a baseball game out
of town. I do believe I'ma Columbus, So they're out of town
and that's what he's doing. Andyou know, it's just glad. I'm
glad to be back and glad toget the chance to sit and talk to
you guys and hopefully give you somemore car tips and stuff like that.
You know, it's you know,we've been spending a lot of time in

(01:27):
all of our locations, and youknow, I've been a little bit more
behind the counter type thing and watchingand listening and trying to help wherever I
can, and still seems like partsare kind of an issue sometimes a little
bit of an issue getting parts, and you know, so it's just you
know, got to be aware. The reason I'm telling you that is,

(01:48):
you know, yeah, we gota holiday weekend coming up here, and
you're going to make sure that yourcar's ready and car's prepared. And I
tell people, I mean, it'sif I was you, I would try
and get that car in sooner thanlater. Especially excuse me, if you're
if you're traveling, sorry about that. If you're traveling to Florida and tis

(02:08):
the season for me, right,it's allergy season for me. It's just
terrible. But if you're thinking abouttaking your kids wherever, you know,
on a on a road trip thissummer, I would advise you to get
it in sooner than later. Ijust I'm a little concerned about parts again
and getting them in. I'm nothere to try and scare you, you
know again. You know, wewe advise you guys, decide um.

(02:31):
You know, we want to makesure that we look your car over.
We want to make sure we tryto find any problems that we think might
occur in the future. Right. We had a lady in just the other
day and she's like, hey,my batteries. I think it was three
years old, maybe four years old, and she says, I want a
new battery, and we're the technicians, like I tested it and it tested

(02:53):
fine last week for you. Andshe says, yeah, but you know,
the average life is of a battery'sthree years. And I don't want
to have a problem, gotcha. You know, I understand it. You
know, she was an older lady. She didn't want to have a problem,
and she was going out of town. So I said, if you
she wance parent, put a batteryin it. You know, it's the
right thing to do, you know. But you know, it's tis the

(03:14):
season, you know. I knowDane talked a lot about air conditioning,
and yes, it's coming I meanyou're gonna see when it's getting humid out
and you can't roll your window downbecause it's right, it's raining outside.
Yes, air condition charges, Yes, they're on their way. We tell
people all the time. Down Danewas telling people, Hey, turn them
on, make sure they're working. You might feel like they're working. Then

(03:34):
an extremely hot day, you're like, wow, this thing is just not
cold. Just you know, asDane explained, and I'll reiterated real quick,
is this. You know, themost common problem for air condition is
it's low one free hunt. That'swhy they don't cool. That's the most
common all right, Uh, youknow free hunt is you know R one
thirty four and then one two threefour YF. R one thirty four is

(03:57):
the most common. It's the olderone one two three or y F is
the newest one on the newer vehicles. It's a lot more expensive, yes,
But the biggest thing is if youcan just have it charged in at
last for quite a while, that'sthe best thing you can do. That's
your best scenario is something like thatto happen. All right, So but

(04:17):
you know we've got all the equipmentall of our locations obviously, you know,
we've got, you know, thepleasant Ridge location that was our main
store used to be on sixty oneeleven Mencomery Road. Now it's at fifty
six ZO nine and fifty six Oone. I'm sorry, six O one
and fifty six O nine is ouroil chain shop. So we have two
locations on Ridge Road. We havea location in on Kenwood Road in Blue

(04:41):
Ash and we also have our specialtystore in Montgomery, which we specialize in
Volvos, Subarus and we do otheryou know, we do Toyota's Hondas stuff
like that, but you know thoseare the you know, our biggest thing
is Volvo. That's our number onevehicle repair and our Montgomery specialty store.
So you've got any of those carsare you know? The Ridge Road,

(05:05):
the kim Won Road. We doall makes and models. Right. Oil
change shop that's also on Ridge Road, and uh, you know they do
almost every vehicle possible known demand asfar as oil changes and uh, you
know, so we've got plenty ofplaces where you guys to call and get
in there. All you gotta dois go to donovanentire dot com again,

(05:28):
donov entire dot com. That's ourwebsite. Go on there check it out,
find out what's going on. Youknow, we've been really you know,
one of the things we talked about, and I've talked about multiple times
is doing digital vehicle inspections. Wewant to look your cars over. Okay,
I want to know how you guysfeel about that. I want to
know. You know, do youwant to come in and just get an
oil change or you know. Ofcourse we'll do our normal little inspection whenever

(05:51):
we do an oil change, butthere's also a bigger inspection that we do,
and we really look the cars over. And I always say, why
would you not want know what's wrongwith your car? Period? Why would
you not want to know? AndI just think it's mind boggling. If
someone doesn't want to do it,I get it. If you're it's something
quick, Hey man, I justhave a flat repair. I'm trying to

(06:12):
get in, trying to get out. I just don't have the time.
I get it. But most ofour vehicles they leave their vehicles or I'm
sorry, most of our customers theyleave their vehicles. Okay, Well that
sounded terrible, didn't it. Itsound like I haven't done this in a
while. I haven't, thank misterGary. Sullivan give me a little while
grief about that too as well. But you know it's you know, we
want to make sure that we werelooking your car over. Okay. We

(06:35):
want to make sure that we're doingthe right things. You know. Again,
some of it's preventive maintenance, someof its regular maintenance. You know,
we will tell you, we willguide you. We know things have
gotten tight, things have gotten expensive. But you take care of your car
and it will take care of you. Okay, playing and simple, take
care of your car, it willtake care of you. I know a

(06:57):
lot of people have tried to pushoff tires still. I know they have
tried to push off tires for aslong as they can. It's time to
get in there, time to getthose tires replaced. If you're looking at
your tires and you even think thatthey're looking, you know, bad enough,
just come on in or give usa call and we'll look at them
and we'll get things ordered. There'sso many different tire sizes, you guys.

(07:19):
There's so many different sizes anymore thatit's really hard to stock them all.
So we always encourage people to comein. We will do it,
we'll look at it, we'll goout there. We'll figure out what size
you have, whether you need themor not. You know, sometimes I'll
tell people say, look, areyou going anywhere? If you're not traveling
anywhere, you're not going anywhere thissummer, and you're just going to drive

(07:39):
around here, I'm fine with it. You can get some more miles out
of it, but if not,we want to go ahead and make sure
we get those tires on there again. You know, I talk about you
know, I talk about shortage ofparts and shortage of tires. Yeah,
it's still a little bit challenging outthere, all right, it's a little
bit challenging out there still to tryand find some of these parts, some

(08:01):
of these supplies, some of thesetires. So, you know, we
don't want to ruin your plan.I mean, I always tell people when
you're going on a trip, typicallyyou know where you're gonna stop. Typically
you know where you're gonna stay. You know, once you get to your
destination, you know where you're gonnastay. Right, So I don't want
to be the person that has totry to ruin your vacation or say,

(08:24):
hey, look, you know, when are you leaving. Oh, I'm
leaving in I'm leaving in a week. Man, we're not gonna get those
tires in time. You know,it's gonna take a little bit longer or
something to that nature. So justpre plan. I mean, people know
where they're going on everything on theirtrip. Typically typically what most people do,
some people just drive and stop wheneverthey can. But sometimes, man,
that's just it's a little dangerous asfar as trying to find a place

(08:46):
to park and everything else. Soyou know, my whole point is,
it's turning summer. There's a lotof things going on. We got expansion
contraction with cars. You know,it's time to get them in. Let
us check them out and we'll makesure we get you on the road already
again, it's been a long time. Like to hear from some of you
that have a regular five one, three, seven, four, nine fifty

(09:09):
five. That is the local number. All right, got a car question
comment concerned. I want to knowdo you want us to look your cars
over when you bring your cars in? That's my question. When you bring
them in, what do you thinkdo you want us to look them over?
And we recommend that you leave yourcars. We recommend. I don't
care if you're going you know, unless you're going to our quick coal chain
shop and getting a quick coal change. But if you're going to Ridge Road,

(09:31):
you're going to our mcgrammer's store, you're going to the blue ash store.
We want you to drop that caroff because we're gonna do a through
because we could pull the wheels. Our old chain shop cannot pull the wheels
as far as looking at breaks andstuff like that, but we can.
But you know, they're very verybusy, we're very very blessed. You
know, we all run the businessesthe same way, but you know,

(09:52):
to look them over. We reallywant to look the car over. We
don't want you to drop it offfor the old change because we want to
make sure. And then in thescenario I give to people all the time,
and I'll make it quick. We'lltake a short break and we're gonna
start taking your phone calls. Butyou know the scenario is, you know,
you get into will change, right, we look it over. We
do a few things, you know, maybe we replace the air filler,

(10:15):
a couple of wiper blades. Whatever. You go on the road and all
of a sudden you're like, hey, man, I think my brakes are
making noise, or man, youknow, I just ran in there and
then my car won't start with itsounds like the batteries dead, you know,
you know, you know, wewant to make sure that you're going
on vacation. Hey, when you'regoing on vacation, everything's all right.

(10:37):
We wanted to make sure that youdon't have any problems. It's hard enough,
you know, to get on.I mean, the roads are just
crazy anymore with so many trucks andeverything else. So already again five one
three seven four nine fifty five hundredthat's the local number. One eight hundred
eight two three eight two five fiveagain one eight hundred eight two three eight
two five five. You're listening tothe car show with Dale Ovan. I'm

(11:00):
fifty five krec D talk station.Let your voice be here. It should
be a requirement to show your IDin order to quote your voice on fifty
five krc D talk station. Welocome back to the car show at Dale
Donovan. I'm fifty five here CDtalk station. You know, I make
to the scenario of you know, right, it's like riding a bike,

(11:22):
you know, I mean, don'tforget I did this show for fifteen sixteen
years, sixteen years, how longI've been doing it. I just you
know mister Overbeck, who you knowrespect and one of the finest. I
mean, he did it without computers. He did it from memory, you
know, and he did it forin his twenty something years. So he's

(11:43):
got me beat as far as thatrecord goes. But uh, uh,
you know he did it in theold days when uh, you know,
you didn't have any of this stuff. You couldn't you know, you can't
look things up like I can,you know, you know, make model
be able to find the code Ostuff like that. So already to the
phones we go. First is Jim, Jim, Welcome to the Car Show

(12:05):
with Dale Donovan. How are you, Jim? Oh? Fine, how
are you doing? Dale? I'mdoing good. We appreciate your program.
I got in nineteen ninety five SABnine thousand, uh, and it's got
a surging idol all of a sudden, normally idols about eight fifty or so.
Now it's a line between thirteen hundredand seventeen hundred. Okay, general

(12:28):
idea of where I can kind oflook sure, sure, absolutely so.
How many miles did you say?Head on it? One hundred and sixty
thousand? Nice? I mean howlong have you how many miles have you
put on it? Did you buyit brand new or I bought it now?
Yeah? Wow, good for you. So you know, welcome back
to dal. We're gonna throw aninety five sab at you, right all

(12:50):
right, So you know it's it'samazing. It doesn't have any rough on
it. Hey, there's nothing wrongwith it. You know, when I
was a kid, my first job, well, a lot of jobs I
cut grass, I baby said. Then I started working at Losanamo Country Club
and one of the job caddy. And then after I caddied, one of
the jobs I had was I workedto tennis courts. They have clay courts,

(13:13):
so I'd have to take a bigbroom and you know, smooth them
out and do the lines, cleaneverything off. Well, one of the
assistant pros, that's what he drovesobs. He was a huge SOB guy.
Loved the car, and I actually, you know, fell in love
with it. I mean I likedit a lot better than I had before.
So you know, hey, ifyou got a good car and it's
been reliable for you, keep itright. So one of the things that

(13:33):
you want to do is the biggoing into the thrittle body. Okay,
what I want you to do istake off the boot that goes to the
thrittle body, and I want youto clean that out, all right.
I want you to use some thrittlebody cleaner and clean the throttle body out.
What I'm thinking you've got is anidle air control motor and i AC
and that idle air control motor canget contaminated. So that's what i want

(13:56):
you to do is try and cleanup around that area. Okay, So
clean up the throttle body. Soyou're gonna have someone you know, it's
key off. Everything's not running, nothing's running. You know. You open
the throttle body, clean it,spray it, take a toothbrush, really
clean it out, wipe it outwith a rag. Try and really wipe
the back of the butterfly and aroundthe butterfly. That determines how much air

(14:16):
goes into the system, right,So if it's all gummed up, then
it won't let enough air in andthe hens will have an idle problem.
It's searching for it. So Iwant to think the air control of a
separate unit throttle body, you know. Okay, So we clean the throttle
body, also clean the idle aircontrol motor. Okay, idle air control

(14:37):
motor, all right. And thenwhat I want you to do is put
it all together. Go ahead andstart it. You know you're gonna have
to hold the gas pedal to thefloor. Get it running, see little
idle. Then I want you toshut it off. Then what I want
you to do is I want youto disconnect the battery. Okay. I
want you to disconnect the battery andthen reconnect the battery. Let it sit
for maybe you know, thirty seconds, okay, and then reconnect it.

(15:01):
Then go ahead and start the vehicle. And then just let it idle.
Okay. Let it seek its ownIDOL and find its own idol. Okay.
You'll probably notice that, you know, because if you don't disconnect the
battery, you'll probably notice that it'sgot a really high IDOL. All right,
and so disconnect it. We wantto disconnect it and put it and

(15:22):
then what it'll do it'll say,oh, we got to relearn idol.
You know, we lost all theparameters. Let's relearn idol. Okay.
I'm the cleaner for the idle aircontrol or using a card planner for them.
Yeah, you can throw all thebody cleaner either one, either one,
okay, yep, okay, I'llgive it a try and keep me
posted. Man. So as faras as far as that goes, I

(15:43):
mean, that's the biggest problem. So let's say you clean to idleware,
you clean the throttle by. Let'ssay it works great. Okay, Let's
say it doesn't work. The mostcommon problem is, you know, the
idole air control motor is stuck andit just won't it won't move, Okay,
so just keep that in mind. All right. It'd be an oxygen
censor as well. I mean, anything's possible. I mean, can you

(16:04):
get codes out of it? Idon't have a reader, so the first
thing I would do would be gettingcodes. Yeah, oxygen sensors can cause
a problem like that Chrysler was youknow, notorious for it. But you
know I would tell you to tryand get codes out of it first.
The most common, the most commonis idawair control h and then cleaning,

(16:27):
throw the body up and uh,oxygen sensors not a real common problem,
but it has happened. All right, Okay, I appreciate it, Thank
you, all right, you takecare, have a great weekend, and
uh we'll do it. Do itagain. Whenever you want to call me
back, find out, let meknow how we did. All right,
all right, thanks Jim boy.You know one of the things I forgot.

(16:47):
I apologize. Man, Where waseverybody on that Happy Mother's Day?
To all the moms out there?Right Mother's Day tomorrow? You know,
my mom would have been a hundredyears on five five, and so we
My brother posted a picture of someof us kids with my mom and a

(17:07):
picture of my mom on Facebook.Sure do miss those people. It's unbelievable.
All right, rady to the phoneswe go. Up next is Dean
Dean. Welcome to the Car Showwith Dale Donovan. How are you Dean?
I am awesome. How are youthere a long time? No talk
to Yeah? Yeah, well yeahthat's my fault, No one else's fault,

(17:29):
just mine. Yeah, you're backin action. That's a good thing.
Yeah. I mean, you know, I told my son, I
said, you know, if yougo out of town or you need me
to fill in, just give mea holler and I'll do it. And
uh, you know he's like, hey, Dad, I got a baseball
game. You want to do theshow? Absolutely? Absolutely? It takes
a village. Man takes a village. There you go. Yeah, A

(17:49):
quick question on the twenty fifteen zwpisade about ready to tackle this engine,
and of course I don't have alift, so trying to do this in
the driveway best way to get tothat thing? Do you know, does
that front clip have to come offto get to you know, obviously without
a lift you can't hardly do itout of the bottom. So is that

(18:11):
or do you know? Well, most probably I would say yes, especially
if you're trying to do it up, you know, without a lift and
everything else. Yeah, the wholefront. I mean, I mean my
guy, um, you know insome volkswagens, he he's to take bumpers
off all the time. Man,he'd take the bumper off, air conditioner
off, you know, condenser, radio, It all comes out as a
complete unit almost. I do believethat the radiator condenser obviously you got to

(18:36):
evacuate it down. You got toget the AC out of there, you
know, the free on out ofthere, obviously drained to cooling. That's
what he did. And then he'dstart taking it apart and he'd take everything
out front. Yes, that's howhe did, Okay, And he got
down to I mean, he hadit down to a science where he had
no problem, you know, gettinghim apart like that. So what kind
of our labor does he had?Did he raban once he got good at

(18:57):
it? I mean I would tellyou that probably to do something. You're
replacing the engine on there, andI mean, I don't know what,
did you buy a used one andyou're total swapping it up? Are you
taking parts off of your old oneto put on your new one? Yeah,
it's it's an automatic and the engineI got actually as a manual,
so I have to switch the flexplates. But other than that, it's

(19:18):
just you're gonna play it, buthave everything apart. So I mean,
i'd say you're probably looking somewhere inthe neighborhood of twenty hours twenty hours.
Yeah, that's about right. Yep, all right, all right about programming,
is there issues with that at all? Um, Well, you're gonna
use the same you know, ifyou've got everything else is the same.
As far as that goes everything,I do believe everything should work fine.
You may you might have to reprogramit, but you know, okay,

(19:41):
typically if there's modules or anything, that's all stays with the car. You
know, if you see anything thatlooks different than swamp it over, you
know, sensory stuff like that. All right, Okay, yeah, I
appreciate you man. All right, good talking to you. You take care
and have a great weekend. HappyMother's Day to all the moms. Right,
yeah, but you take care ofba By. You know, I

(20:07):
guess a lot of people, youknow, some people still do a lot
of engine swabs and stuff like that. You know, still a lot of
people doing it, right, Imean where was I was just another shop,
but you know, had a mobsto out, you know, the
most important thing people you have todo. And of course I've harped on
it many times. Everybody has Justmake sure you change the oil. That's

(20:29):
just I know it's tedious. Iknow time is everything, and you know,
I know they're giving you longer timesto change your oil stuff like that.
Just change it, change the oil, all right. You know I
was talking to it. Well, even our Ridge road shop. I forget
what weight it was. We werehaving a problem getting some oil. They
were back ordered on it. Weordered five boxes. We got one because

(20:52):
literally they were back ordered on theoil. So you know, I'm not
trying to scare you again. Is. But the number one thing you can
do is change your oil. That'snumber one. To make sure that you
know, because the oils are thinner, right, and so I just want
to make sure that's the best thingyou can do. There's a lot of
things that that oil drives and alot of problems. I mean, one

(21:15):
of our guys down at the RidgeRoot Stores of having to do timing chains
on a BMW. Right. Youknow, we had a person coming the
other day. They had the timingchains replaced on a Toyota and you know
it had been a while. Hehad them change, brought it to us
as a man. It's making aterrible rhinal noise. Well, it's two
quarts low on oil. You don'thave oil in this car, and you're

(21:37):
two thousand miles over an oil change. So that's how you ruin the first
timing chains on it. So don'tdo it again. So make sure that
you're changing oill listen. If Irecommend just to keep everything simple, five
thousand miles is what I recommend.I know, full synthetic you can go
ten thousand miles on some of them. I don't encourage it. I don't
do it. The most I'll goseven. Okay, it's just the most

(22:00):
all goal. But I just encourageyou just to keep it simple. Do
five thousand miles. You get theoil changed. The reason I say five
is because what happens is people go, it's five, it's five thousand.
But man, you know, Idon't have time. Next thing. You
know, you forget about it.You look down your thousand miles over.
Okay, now you're within that fiveto seven thousand miles, you're all right,

(22:22):
but get it in and get itchanged. People forget about it,
man, People forget We got asticker up in the window, you got
a maintenance light that pops on,and still people just sometimes will just totally
forget about changing the oil. Allright, So it's just the most important
thing you can do. And Iencourage you. If it's a brand new
car and you got fifteen thousand, well you should at least have the tires

(22:45):
rotated. Okay, you know that'sat least you know, But if you're
over thirty thousand miles, I encourageeveryone. You know, I own a
quick goal, change up, okay, but I recommend when you've got the
thirty sixty ninety thousand miles on it, take it to another shop. They
can do it in depth, anin depth vehicle inspection, to look it

(23:07):
over, just see what all itneeds. All right, all right,
quick little bothering me our break. And I promised when I come back,
I'll get through the next few phonecalls and we'll get your questions answered.
I promise. Here listen to theCar Show with Dale Donovan. I fifty
five care see the talk station.Welcome back to the Car Show with Dale

(23:34):
Donovan. I'm fifty five kre seethe talk station. All right, that's
promised. I'm gonna get right tothe phones. Up next is Bill Bill.
Welcome to the Car Show with DaleDonovan. How are you Bill?
Hey? Dale, I'm good.I got a it's good to hear your
voice again. Thank you. Igot a twenty year. My daughter's got
a twenty thirteen, huge excusion, and she went at his gun and rough

(23:57):
running bed took it in and theyreplace the alf cover gasket. I guess
that some of the sparks plug channelsthere were full of oil and uh so
they replaced the boots, the basketand replace the plugs. And I think
the car's got about one hundred andfifty thousand miles on it? Do you

(24:17):
know what type of fusion is orwhat size engine it has? Do you
know any of those forced on underengine. That's the only thing I know
about. Okay, well they makea one six or two on two five,
So I was just kind of good. What kind of fusion is it?
Do you know that? Uh no, sorry, that's all right.
Well tell me what's going on?Well, I just wondered if how good,

(24:41):
how lasts? How long should aset of plugs last? And then
the plugs they took out, theygot the FuMO co brand on them,
but they look clean as a whistle, and but the gap is out to
fifty three thousands, So I justwanted and how many not how many miles
did you say it had on it? I think it's got about one hundred

(25:03):
and fifty one hundred and fifty.Okay, let me see something they or
if I can maintenance schedule or replacespark plugs. They want spark plugs replaced
at one hundred thousand miles is whenthey want to replace now, you know,
so if if let's see here thenext next page as replace spark plugs.

(25:25):
Yeah, they're they're doing them everyhundred thousand miles. They're a double
platinum plug. They're gonna look ifthey look clean, they look white.
You're saying, yeah, that's greatbecause it's telling me that it's not burning
oil and stuff like that. Sothat's that's awesome, you know. So
I mean, if the gap hasjumped that much, yeah, I'd replace
them. See. Now the problemis is, you know, do you

(25:47):
know where they replaced at exactly onehundred thousand miles or did someone replace them
at sixty you know, when wasit replaced? You know, that's the
big question. So you you couldhave over one hundred thousand miles on those
spark plugs. But yeah, Imean if they if they got that big
of a gap, yeah, Ichange it. I mean, how's it
run? It runs good? Yeah, So you know that's the key thing.

(26:10):
And I think that I'm gonna behonestly, I think people wait a
little bit too long to be doingto change your spark plugs anyway, I
really do. I mean, youknow, back in the day when I
first started working on cars, Imean, do you know we change spark
plugs every Yes, they are. It's a harder tip and it lasts longer.
I get that, but I wouldencourage everybody, is you know exactly
or if you're getting close to aone hundred thousand, you know, Jeep

(26:33):
does it sooner. But if you'rearound one hundred thousand miles and you even
put spark plugs in it, highlyrecommend you put spark plugs in it in
one hundred thousand miles. Okay.Another question on the serpentine belt on that
car, how many miles would havebelt? Um? You know, do

(26:57):
you go back to the main andschedule here, let's sit here. I'm
just kind of curious to see whenthey you know, when they recommend replacing
the belt inspection dry belt one hundredthousand miles also is when they're telling me
to do it. But again Ithink that now we want replaced successory one

(27:22):
hundred thousand miles. But there's noway I would go that long. I
would tell people to do the bellotat sixty thousand and ninety thousand at the
most, in between sixteen and ninetieswhen I recommend see the bellots in the
old days again, where a Vshaped belt and the certament team belts last
a lot longer. They do abetter job, all right. A lot

(27:44):
of times people will go man,it's making noise. Yep, it's drying
out, or yes, there's somemoisture behind it causing a squeaking issue.
With all the rain we've had, people will go, man, breaks are
really squeaking. Yeah, we've hada lot of rain, so get through
some of those times. But yeah, again, I think they wait too
long. I would highly recommend replacingthat belt at least if anywhere between sixty

(28:04):
and ninety thousand miles. All right, yeah, this one, this one
they took off. It's got somejust some minor cracks and on the inner
side, you know, the flatside just look looks perfect. But typically
they don't do much wear on theoutside. There is some cars that cause
a lot of wear on the outside. But I don't think you're doing anything

(28:26):
wrong by replacing it. Again, you know, they get dried out,
they make noise, they don't reallywarn you know, they don't give you
a lot of warning when they wantto break, you know, so they
just being Okay, So if you'vegot cracking, i'd say you're fine with
replacing it, all right, okay, okay, good, Hey, thanks
thanks so much for your help.I really enjoy your ship. Well,
thank you very much. Really doappreciate you listening to the show, and

(28:48):
hopefully you have a happy Mother's Dayor your wife has a happy Mother's Day
or your mom whoever, right,we can't forget them. That's you know,
that's the most important one in thefamily, is mom. Right.
All right, we got John fromWestchester. Let me take John here in
one second. But also you gota question common concern. I'm asking questions.

(29:10):
I want to know you know,do you and I haven't asked him,
But it's my fault, it's notyours, you know. I want
to know you know when you takeyour car and do you want it looked
over or do you just want tosay, hey, man, you know
this is my problem, just lookat it and get it out. I
think it's a big mistake. Imean, I just talk about it all
the time. I just think it'sa huge mistake that people just get an
oil change and get it out.I think that you need to leave the

(29:33):
vehicles. I think you need tohave him looked over. All right,
here's you know. The perfect exampleis, you know, one of my
technicians at Ridge Road had a problemand the customer brought it in and said
hey, and the way they described. It was like, hey, I
got a high speed vibration, so, you know, technicians doing his due

(29:55):
diligence, and he's test drives it. He comes back and says, Nope,
I don't have a high speed vibration. I said, do your inspection.
Yes, did you do your inspection? No? I didn't do it
because I want to try and figureout what the high speed vibration is.
I said, well you haven't.You didn't feel it, right, Nope,
go ahead and do your vehicle inspection. You know. Twenty minutes later
it comes up stairs. Who comesup front? He's like, yep,

(30:17):
you made a believer around me.I asked, what's wrong? Caliper's locked
up? He said, I couldtell where the caliper got hot at one
time and locked up, and thatwas what was causing the high speed vibration.
So I just think it's important thatyou do it. But hey,
you guys, give me a callfive on three seven four nine fifty five
hundred that's the local number. Orone eight hundred eight two three eight two

(30:38):
five five, All right to thephones we go. Up Next is John
John. Welcome to the car showwith Dale Dono and how are you John
High dale, Well, thank youcoming in to day. Yeah. Yeah,
Well my son called me, hegoes you want to do the show,
and I was actually really excited aboutit, so good deal. Hey,

(30:59):
so I want to get your inputbefore I started chasing wires with a
wiring diagram. I've got a twothousand and six jeep Commander to four point
seven. You know, yeah itis, Yes, it does. So
the issue I was having, sothey had a recall on the ignition switch
that and that was taken care ofyears ago. Um, a couple of

(31:22):
years ago, I went to turnthe vehicle off, took the key out
in the vehicle kept running. WhatI did is pulled the fuse out for
the fuel pump that it that itruns itself out and then it corrected itself.
So that was a few years ago. The vehicle was sitting most of
this winter and so I had tojump store it. A couple of years
ago, I took it around backand the same thing, pulled the key

(31:48):
out and just started running, keptrunning, So I pulled out the US
again. What was different this timeis that when it was running out of
gas, I noticed the starter wasengaged, so the battery so it kept
running. Until the battery went deadbecause it was running off the starter.

(32:10):
It was the starter was turning theflywheel. So I went ahead charge the
battery. I couldn't do any diagnosisbecause as soon as I hooked the battery
up just would happened. So Iwent and got a new admission switch,
put that in and I thought thatwas going to do it, and it
didn't. So again, when Iput the battery cable back on the battery,

(32:35):
the starter wants to engage. Okay, you mean as soon as you
put it in it just put it. Okay, as soon as you put
the battery on, it wants toThe starter wants to turn on. And
you got the key in your hand, yes, okay, all right?
And um, what did you dowith that battery? Did you you know?

(33:00):
Did you just charge it? Yeah? I just charged it. How
old the battery? The batteries it'sknew it's it's it's like six months old,
okay, But it was totally deadthough. It was totally dead.
And I used a jump pack justto jump it originally because it sat most
of the winter and so if firedup like like normal. Um, But

(33:25):
then now as to a point beforeI start doing a wiring diagram. I
didn't know if you've heard about this, you know, of any of this
type of situation because I can't doany diagnosis because so they put the battery
post or the cable back on thepost, it starts engaging the starter.
So before I start chasing wires andstuff, I just don't know what would

(33:47):
be the best scenario to start chasingthis down. Um. Let's see here.
Let me see. I'm trying tofind where the tipping module for you
is. Do you know where thetipen module is? I do not much.
Okay, let's see here. Yeah, it's the it's you know,

(34:08):
basically, yeah, it's the tipend module. Let me see. It's
t I p M totally Integrated powermodule. All right, Okay, they
have a lot of problems with them. Okay, So what I'm trying to
find out is I'm trying to findout, you know, if I can
find out where the tipping module isfor you, um, and where how

(34:31):
close it is. But you know, my my locator is just horrible as
far as that goes. But itshould be out in the uh, you
know, out in the UM relayarea by the battery. So you know,
if you want to just try andgoogle it or something like that and
find the tipping module and go aheadand remove that. You know. It

(34:51):
kind of sounds like I'm wondering ifyou've got like a like some water moisture
type problem. You know, ignitionswitch is a common one that it has.
But totally the tip en module isusually the biggest one that they've had
a problems. And Chrysler's had ahuge problem with those. Okay, And
that's that's what's good. Get good. One of the other things I was
gonna tell you is, man alot of times when if the batteries not

(35:15):
fully charged, chryslers do a hugeweird thing. And I know, as
soon as you hook it up itstarts cranking stuff like that. Yeah,
but make sure you know, don'tjust you know, go ahead and charge
it. How long did you chargeit forward? You know, we charge
it like about an hour. Yeah, Okay, I'm gonna encourage you to
charge it again. But then looklook for that tip in module and then

(35:37):
just pull the tippen module out kindof shake it see if there's any kind
of water in there. But theactual module do they do? They go
bad? Okay, Okay, becausethat's that's that's under the hood near the
fuse boxes. Do you believe yes? Okay, awesome, that gives me
a way to go. I reallyappreciate it, John, not a problem.
You take care and thanks for tuningin. And if you're married or

(35:59):
you have your mom, please wishare a happy mother's there from us.
All right, absolutely into all themothers out there. You gotta thank you
very much. Johnny can take careof bye bye. Alright, alrighty five
one three seven four nine fifty fivehundred. You want to be the last
one to get in, the lastone to say hi to me. Someone
did text me? I think let'ssee here. Oh yeah, someone someone

(36:21):
sent me a text fun hearing youon the radio, sweet that you remembered
your mom's birthday. A sweet andfun lady. So let's see here.
Yep, so that was awful, awful nice to get the nice text.
But if you get a comment questionconcerned, please give us call five on
three seven four nine fifty five hundredLong distance one eight hundred eight two three

(36:44):
eight two five five. You're listeningto the car show at Dale Donavan.

CD talk station. All right,as promise, I'm gonna get right back

(37:07):
to the phones. Up next isPatrick Patrick. Welcome to the Car Show
with Dale Donovan. How are youPatrick? I'm doing good, good.
Yeah. I listen to show asoften as I can and really appreciate it.
So real quick, we just boughta twenty thirteen Toyota Ciana, one

(37:28):
hundred and fifty five thousand miles onit. We had a mechanic go through
it, and you know, youneed some breaks and some shots in the
back, and that was about it. But I'm curious as far as timing
belts on that spark plugs on thathemmy miles. You said it's got one
hundred and fifty one hundred and fiftyfive, one hundred fifty five. Yeah,

(37:51):
all right, So let's see yourmaintenance schedule for you. I do
believe the timing belts probably should havebeen changed by now. Spark plug spark
plugs around the same time spark plugsO spark plugs one hundred and twenty thousand
miles is when they want that done. Kay, let's see here timing belt.

(38:15):
Let's see worse timing belt for me, um expect mines, expect inspect
drive belts. I got drive belts. Uh, I'm kind of curious.
Doesn't even have a timing belt.A lot of them went to the timing
chains UM on those particular vehicles.Okay, so I would double check and

(38:42):
make sure that he even has atiming belt. It doesn't. It's not
it's not recommending it that I cansee. Um, you know I could
probably let's see uh, twenty thirteentota all right, Sienna timing belts.

(39:06):
Let's see timing belt, I meanbelt replacement. Yeah, it does have
a timing belt. Let's see herewhen they're recommending. It's not saying when,
but I tell you what, ifit's kind a belt, you need

(39:27):
to do it now. One neverbeen done. Uh, you know at
least one hundred and twenties when youprobably should do it. So you know,
definitely definitely have that replaced and thespark plugs do them all at the
same time, Okay, and thenyou know go ahead. Yeah, like
um again, the rear shots needto be replaced. I mean, how

(39:52):
is that a pretty difficult job orany idea, how how involved that is
or I mean to do it yourselfor probably not? Probably not. You
know a lot of these cars havestruts. I mean, are you positive
you have rear shocks? You know? I don't know. Yeah, And
I'm gonna be totally honest with you. I mean, it's it's not an

(40:12):
easy job, especially in the backgroundsbecause they're hard to get to, right,
you know, how do you getto it? Yeah, you don't
see the top. And then theother thing is I always tell people is
like, look, we probably don'tdo a good enough job replacing shocks and
struts. I mean that not mepersonally, but I'm talking about you,
the customer, everybody. They're they'reexpensive. But what I recommend is when

(40:36):
you do replace them, replace themas a complete assembly. In other words,
it comes with the spring, thestrut, top, everything comes as
a complete assembly. If you doit the other way, you're just gonna
ask for problems. It just happens. Okay, okay, got it,
alright, alrighty, Hey, thankyou very much Patrick for listening. Man,
You take care and have a greatweekend as well. Thank you money,

(41:00):
all right, Rady, we gotDale and bond Hill Dale. Welcome
to the Car Show with Dale Donovan. How are you? Oh fine,
sir? How are you doing?A long time listener? First time Cawler?
We'll good, Well, thanks forhanging in there. What can I
help you with? I have anineteen ninety Chevy Cheyenne and I've got a

(41:21):
lot of work done to it.And uh, it's it's still cuts out.
It'll run, it'll idole. Whatkind of Cheyenne? Is it a
fifteen hundred Chyenne? Do you knowwhat size? See? Fifteen hundred four
point three engine? Okay, seefifteen hup. Yeah, it's a Cheyenne,
you said? And what size engine? Yes? Four point three?

(41:45):
I got the four three? Allright? And what's it doing to you?
I can? I can? It'llstart every time, not a problem,
Okay, it'll want to accelerate.I get to a point and um,
it'll it'll decelerate and then it'll it'skind of sound to it. Three

(42:07):
times, it'll decelerate and accelerate thedecrease, increase, decrease, intry decrease
three times and then it cuts out. Okay, And what have you done?
Everything right? Just late lately. You know, a new new radio.

(42:31):
It cuts out. When it cutsout? What happens? Does it?
Can it crank? Does it crankover? Just cranks and cranks and
cranks. It'll start again, nota problem, but but it'll have to
cool down a little bit. Justmaybe five minutes. It'll it'll start,
it'll go down the road and thenit'll start cutting out on me again,

(42:52):
just cut out completely stop. Soit just basically cuts out as well,
does it have no does it haveno power? No power? Which where
well, I mean does it fuelgoing in? Do what now that it
has no fuel going into it?It just cuts It cuts out when I

(43:14):
increase, when I accelrate. Okay, and you've done like two knops and
all that kind of stuff, correcttune ups, yeah, everything everything,
And you know it starts, itruns down thousand feet and then moof it

(43:37):
cuts out. Oh two hundrety andholding it's broken off two nd forty thousand.
It's broken. So it's a workchuck. Yeah. So a lot
of times, you know there's there'ssomething that you have to um, you
know, you got to make surethat the you know, but it cuts

(43:58):
out under load, it goes onand off and on and off. Uh
not not all the time though, correct. That's that's the sound when it
begins to cut out. I hearwhen I accelerate, it sounds like it's
increasing and acceleration, and then itbacks off and it does it three times

(44:22):
and then boofed. Have you haveyou replaced the module or the pickup inside
the distributor? Yes? You havethe module? All the all the modules
I have um replaced? Okay?Inside? Okay, how about the fuel?

(44:45):
The fuel pump is ready, it'sexposed a year ago. They said
that they put a new a newfuel pump. But it's it doesn't look
like it's new. So the biggestthing is out of the top or not

(45:06):
not new. It could have beennew inside the tank. H well,
they said. I took it backto the guy. He said, inside
the tank. It's it's new insidethe tank. Now yeah, all right,
Well do you hear that noise? That means I've got to run?
But I'm gonna tell you this. The biggest thing I think you need to

(45:28):
check is, let's say, let'smake sure one if you're losing spark,
I would tell you to put awhole ignition distributor, in a whole distributor.
Second thing is is I would checkfuel pump pressure. Make sure your
fuel pump pressure is good. Ifyour full fuel pump pressure is good,
I would tell you to replace theentire distributor. That's the direction I would

(45:49):
go. All right, day,you take care and have a great weekend.
Really do appreciate it. We appreciateall the listeners out there. It
was great to be back. Everybody, Happy Mother's Day. We'll do it
all again next Saturday. Here listeningto the car show Dale Diamond. I'm
