(00:06):
Baby with a four barrel car.I'm gonna do it. So good afternoon,
and welcome to car show. I'mDane Donovan taking your car questions.
The number call five one three, seven four nine fifty five hundred number one
more time five one three seven fournine fifty five hundred or one eight one
(00:28):
hundred eight two three talk and thenwe're going one one eight hundred eight two
three. Sorry, my boys arein the studio with me and they're distracting
me already, So but again I'mhere to take your car questions. Love
to hear from you. Um,you know we're here every Saturday. My
father filled in last weekend. Um, we had a baseball tournament all weekend
(00:51):
up in uh Up in Columbus, and uh let me tell you it was
fire alarm went off early Saturday morning, so we got a like at four
o'clocket went off three times and thenunfortunately we lost a couple of games.
And Sunday morning, we're going tothe ballfield and I'm on the highway and
my truck is shaking like crazy andI'm like, what is going on?
(01:12):
I looked down, I'm oh,shoot, I got a little tire light
and get to the drop my sonoff at his at his game, and
I was like, hey, I'mgonna run up the street to a gas
station to get gas and paid twodollars to put air in my tire.
Well the unfortunately the pump was notworking. So then I drive into almost
(01:32):
downtown Columbus and find a an expressoil chain shop and I'm like, hey,
buddy, I'm like, hey,do you mind just putting air in
my tire. I'm like, it'syou know, I can't get air in
air Wolers. There was only fourpounds, and I barely made it,
and I had a huge bolt rightin the middle of it, and I'm
like, look, I just putair in it. I said, I
should be able to make it backhome. And but even even the tire
(01:56):
guy himself gets gets flats and screwsin his tire. So it's just one
of those things that it happens, right, and we're all susceptible to it.
And while I'm on that topic, you know, tires I was talking
to I was getting my haircut earlierthis week, and we're talking about,
of course, like everybody else's priceinflation and things that are going up,
(02:22):
and what I think I've noticed themost as far as costco tires and breaks
they have gone through the roof, they've more than doubled. And it's just
I was telling them. I mean, prior to twenty twenty, a break
job was about three three fifty peraxel. It's now like five fifty to
(02:46):
six fifty in axel. It's veryexpensive and a lot of people won't shy
away from not putting brakes on thecard because they need to stop. And
also, you know tires as well, you need tires, you need you
know, good tread. Uh,you know, you got to think about
it. When your your tire ismaking contact with the road, it's only
about the size of a sheet ofpaper, right, so you really want
(03:08):
to make sure that you've got goodtread on your tires. But tires again
have skyrocketed as well. You know, there's things, there's things that you
can do to prolong the life ofbreaks and tires, right, and um,
you know, as far as likebreaks go, think about when you're
(03:29):
getting off the highway, let's notcut off the highway at sixty miles an
hour and slam on our breaks.Get off the highway at forty or fifty
and just kind of coast up tothat exit ramp right, Um, not
applying obviously you're gonna have to applya little bit, but not applying hard
right, because you're gonna wear atthe breaks quicker. And again breaks are
expensive, you know. And again, highway driving is gonna be a lot
(03:51):
easier on your brakes than city driving. We all know that. But as
far as tires go, you know, you want to make sure that you're
rotating them properly right every about everyother. Most vehicles nowadays do a synthetical
have a synthetic oil change, andand you know which is recommended. And
(04:15):
I've said this a thousand times onthis show, every five thousand miles.
Dealerships tend to go seven thousand, seventy five hundred eight thousand once a year.
Listen, if you have a rightnow, no matter what car you
have, I don't care if it'sa BMW, I don't care what it
is, it's gonna take a syntheticoil change most likely, and I again
will recommend five thousand miles. Now, I'm not recommending that so I sell
(04:40):
or anybody else sells more oil changes. But cars come in left and right,
day in and day out with nooil on them. They're burning oil.
These cars are designed to be themost fuel efficient as they possibly can,
and in that process, the vehiclesburn oil. It's a very common
problem. Now again on the tires, you want to make sure that again
(05:02):
you're rotating them about every other oilchange. Okay, you want to make
sure that they're properly inflated. Now, if you don't know what most ninety
nine percent of all tires nowadays arethirty five psi, right, thirty five
pounds, that's what your car isgonna call for. Now, if you
don't know, and you do wantto look it up, open up your
(05:24):
driver's door, okay, And onthe B pillar you're going to see a
sticker, right, and that's gonnatell you your tire size. It's gonna
have your VIN number, and it'salso going to have the tire pressure.
Okay. So if you do goto a gas station that has a working
air pump, unfortunately I was notthat lucky, you know, and you
(05:45):
want to check your air pressure, and you should because it's going to prolong
the life of the tire. Andat you know, three hundred four hundred
dollars a tire nowadays, and itgoes up from there. You want to
make sure you get the longevity outof them. To make sure that you
get the most out of them. And so again, make sure that they're
properly rotated, make sure that theair pressure is checked regularly. Okay.
(06:09):
The other thing too, is especiallyin the winter months, right, you
know, when we're not getting goodtraction. You know, if when you're
spinning them like you are, oreven in the rain, right you take
off at a light really fast orwhatnot, in that that tire spinning out,
you're eating up that tire. Okay, And again it's just going to
(06:30):
shorten the life of it. Solet's just you know, make sure that
we're not you know, goosing itat the track at these stop lights or
stop signs, and make sure thatin the winter months when it's icy or
snowy, we're not just spinning thetires. Right. Most cars have traction
control nowadays, so that's not necessarilygoing to be a factor, but some
of the older cars, that's notpossible, right, And and again making
(06:54):
sure that they're properly inflated. Notonly is it going to prolong the life
the tire, it's also gonna ifthey're properly inflated. It's gonna give you
better gas. Mitch. Now,I'm not saying that you're going to see,
you know, twenty five more mileson a tank, but I'm over
the life of those tires. Itwill save you money at the pump.
And everybody's feeling the pain at thepump. I was complaining. Just yesterday
(07:16):
morning, unfortunately, we had anacre not a C compressor. Our air
compressor at our old chain shop wentout and we're driving all over the west
side of town trying to get one. And you know, long story short,
I was like, man, Iwas like, hey, listen,
we got to stop and get gas. I said, I feel like I'm
at the gas pump every single week, and i am no matter what I
(07:39):
do, no matter what goes on, it just seems I'm there all the
time. And we tend to getthat a lot too. When gas prices
are as high as they are,a lot of people go, hey,
you know, I've noticed I'm notgetting as good as gas mileage, and
it's just the pain at the pump. It's not that your car is getting
poor. Gas mileage is just moreof pain at the pump, right,
Um, these are things that weneed to think about again. If you
(08:01):
want to get life out of thebrakes, we want to be easier on
the brakes. You're getting off thehighway. Let's not slam on them at
the last moment, you know, ease to a stop, right, that's
gonna prolonged life of the break. And on the tires, they need to
be rotated regularly, and they needthe air pressure needs to be checked regularly
as well. I would say atleast once a month you should be checking
(08:24):
that air pressure. And again everyother oil change rotates tires and then air
pressure at least once a month. We're all at the gas station. And
you know most gas stations will doit for free at Donovan's. You need
your air pressure checked. They doit at the Montgomery location, they do
it at the Blue Ash location, they do it at the Pleasant Rage location.
And then our oil chain shop.Heck, you don't even have to
(08:46):
get out of your car, especiallyin those winter months when it's fridge it
out and it's below zero and you'refreezing, and you know, you can
pull into to Donovan's Express Oil chainShop, pull in, say can you
check my air pressure? And myguys will be more unhappy to do that
for you. They really would. It's not a problem for them. It's
(09:07):
very easy. And again, youstay in your car, you're warm,
It takes them less than a coupleof minutes and off you go. So
you don't need to pay two dollarslike I did. But again, I
was two hours away from Cincinnati, and I didn't have any connections or locations.
And but uh, and I don'tkeep I should. I do have
(09:28):
a very nice air pump, butI keep it at the shop. I
should probably should keep it in mytruck. But uh. But anyways,
so again taking your car questions, and I'm gonna call five one three seven
four nine fifty number again five onethree seven four nine fifty five hundred.
Love to hear from me. Andagain that's why I'm here. Uh please,
uh, you know, give mea call, so love to hear
from you. Something. You're listeningto the car show on fifty five k
(09:50):
R see the talk station. Welcomeback. You're listening to the car show
on fifty five talk station on DameDonovan and taking your car questions again.
The number to call five one threeseven nine fire that number again, five
one three seven four nine fifty fivehundred. Again, the phone lines are
(10:11):
wide open. I know it's agorgeous day out right now, but we
all have car problems. We allhave car questions. And again, whether
you're in the market to buy anew or used or you know, again,
we could we could be as simpleas again I was talking earlier about
breaks and tires and how much they'vegone up, and how maybe we can
prolong the life of those tires inthose breaks and simple things. They don't
(10:37):
have to be anything crazy. Um. But again that's what I'm here for
us to take your car questions. And again I know it. It's it
is nice. My boys have beenhounding me all morning to try to get
out to go. My oldest waslike, can we go? Can we
go play some golf? So we'regonna try this afternoon, and but I
(11:00):
don't know, it's it's kind oflooking a little bit of cloudy. It's
kind of looking cloudy. But Imean it feels great, no humunity.
It's sixty seven and Cincinnati. Man, that's I'll take it any day of
the week. So again number callfive on three seven four nine fifty five
hundred. So we were talking,I was talking to a customer earlier.
Yeah, this is a this isa topic that you've you know, you've
(11:24):
heard several times. And um,but I've been getting at a lot at
work as well as the whole EVstuff, right, and I kind of
feel like it's been kind of notcrammed, but it's been kind of pushed
upon us to try to buy allthese evs. And a lot of people
come in and they kind of wantedmy opinion as to what, how my
(11:48):
what my thoughts are on it,and you know, and again I would
said commonly, the two biggest gripesthat I get is, one, our
grid can't handle it if we allgo to you know, electric cars.
And two, uh, the costof it, just the cost of buying
(12:09):
an EV is expensive. And threeyou can't drive from Cincinnati to Ford on
on an EV. You have tostop constantly to charge it. So UM,
I think, you know, Ithink it's a technology that is um
it's here, but I think it'sgoing to take a long time to get
us, um, you know,to the point where we're all on him.
(12:33):
But it is just extremely expensive andyou just, uh, it's hard
to keep up with right now.And uh, and in fact, my
youngest brother he bought he bought aTesla and he goes, well, I
learned he got his tile. Wewant to go get his tags. He
goes, I learned the value ofuh or I learned a lesson of buying
(12:56):
an EV because he was taxed.I think I think it was like two
hundred and fifty dollars more than us, because because he had an EV.
And I'm like, they got toget that. You know, since you're
not buying the gas, they can'tget the gas tax, so they're passing
it on to you. And inorder to put tags on your car,
you're gonna have to pay that.So I don't know. It's Um,
(13:16):
I think that uh. I thinkit's great. I mean, I mean
it's a great concept. They areextremely fast, they are nice to drive,
the quiet, but I think wegotta I'm going to keep driving a
gasoline car until until I can't.So all right, let's go to the
phones. Um, we've got Paul, Hey, Paul, welcome to the
(13:39):
car show. How can help?Yeah, I'm a friend of seven Camaro.
It's invented shape and suddenly it's somegreat shape. He's got one little
problem. It's little and it's anasty one. If the car sits for
a few days and he doesn't drivewith the battery goes dead. So something's
bringing the battery. He's at twomechanical inclients. So I said, sure,
(14:03):
I'll see if I can figure out. You know, the car that
old. Sometimes the grounds will startacting funny, you know. I mean,
but do you have any any hintshow to attack the problem like that?
Well, I mean what you needto do it's a hard one.
Well, um, well, youneed to do what's called an electrical draw
(14:26):
test, right, and you needa um well, uh, you know,
you need a piece of equipment thatcan find out whether there's a draw
there. Um, how old's thebattery because sometimes well the batteries, the
batteries that at all, this acouple of years old. It's pretty new.
Um I I was one of thesame thing. Maybe it's just got
(14:48):
an interim shirt in the battery, you know, it's time for a new
one. But no, it's anew battery, pretty new. And I
said, there's something pulled in thebattery town Well, yeah, it has.
He had the battery tested. Idon't know that. I don't know,
so so I mean yes, therecould be an internal drawl. But
(15:09):
I mean with it being a sayshere sixty seven camaro, yep, okay,
I mean there weren't a ton ofelectronics in vehicles back in those days.
I mean nowadays, I mean weget cars with the polytrical drawls almost
every day. But what I wouldrecommend, so you also mentioned too,
(15:31):
like, oh, the batteries notthat old. It's like two, you
know, a couple of years old. And again a lot of times you
can jump a car and it's fine, and you know, every once in
a while, or if you startedevery day, it's fine. So what
I would recommend is get the batterytested, jump it or whatnot. Get
(15:52):
the battery tested. Let's I wantto see if the battery test good.
If the battery test good, youget twelve olds. Then we need we
need to do an electrical drawl test, which most repair shops can do.
And then if there is an electronicif there is a drawl, that's where
it could become difficult because then nowyou're trying to find a needle on a
(16:14):
haystack, right, You're trying tofind out exactly where it's coming from.
Now on newer cars like in today'sstandards as far as like you know,
a No. Three or five. You know, we start pulling fuses right,
and you pull a fuse for theradio, right and if it goes
out, boom, now we know, you know, But on a sixty
seven you're not going to necessarily havethat that convenience and that ability. So
(16:36):
it's it's literally gonna just take it'sgonna take time as to try to narrow
it down and find it. Imean, it could be a short and
a wire back in the trunk forthe tail light. Said, it could
be. I mean we we foundshort wires underneath underneath seats before. I
mean it it could like you said, it could be one of those things
that you're you're spending hours or youmight find it in five minutes, right,
(17:00):
Um, you might want to.You might like the cars a sixty
seven vintage, so they weren't puttingcomputer chips into the right into a Mac
in the sixty seven. And I'msure you know it's got an it's got
a car reator on it. Um. So yeah, that's what I thought.
I don't I have a look tosee where the fuse box is.
(17:22):
That was one of my thoughts toois maybe the first thing. I don't
think it's a it's the volage regulatorwhich comes, you know, after the
elevator. I'm thinking it's probably somethingin the fuse. One of the loads
is dragging it down. And butI can have the battery checked. I
just wanted to know what you're Theseare not easy to know. They're they're
not. They're not they're not AndI mean again, it could be it
(17:44):
could be something so silly. Yeah, and I wish I had more of
a clear cut answer for you.But what again, What I just start,
let's start with the basics is getit to anywhere, get it to
a repair shop, get it toanywhere, have the battery tested. Um,
you know the problem is is likeyeah, again, a battery can
(18:04):
start a car. I can jump, I can test, I can you
know, charge a battery up today, right and it'll start a car for
you know. I I just puta battery in one of my vehicles.
It's not even it's not even fourmonths old, and it's sat for two
months and it's dead. And Idon't have an electrical draw. I just
(18:25):
think I have a bad battery. And it's again the batteries four months old,
so it's it's common. Uh.And the problem is is batteries don't
give you kind of any warning. Most batteries won't give you a warning sign.
And sometimes they do, they'll crankslow or whatnot. Um. And
again, the average life of abattery in this region is three to four
years. So if it's two orthree years old, and because it's not
(18:48):
being constantly charged, um, youknow that can cause it. The other
thing, what does he have atrickle charger on it? No, he
doesn't. I thought about it.Give him, don't tell him. Hey,
you get a simple you know they'repretty cheap. Absolutely yeah, I
mean that's your other solution to theother thing that you could do is one,
(19:14):
um, get the battery test forwhatnot. UM to trickle charger.
They're cheap, they're easy to install, you guys, you can do it
at home. Um. And allyou gotta do is plug it into an
outlet. It's not gonna you know, cost a ton of money. To
The third thing that you can dois when he's if he's not driving it.
The other thing that you can dois if he's not driving, so
as soon as he's done driving,he parks it just disconnect the negative cable
(19:38):
and if there is a draw, right, and if you disconnect the cable,
it's not going to draw from thebattery. You just disconnected the cable.
Now, if it sits for ifit sits for two weeks and you
and you put that negative cable backon and that car won't start, it's
the battery, you know. It'sthe battery. You're not dealing with any
(19:59):
type of drawl. He doesn't useit, he doesn't drive it all the
time. It's kind of one ofthe Stagorite cars. You got a couple
of vintage cars. And but thetrickle charger. I never thought about the
trickle charger because I've used that myself, and uh, they're cheap, you
know, for less than ten bucksat one of the box stores. You
know, you just clip it.You want to use it, You take
the best the clippers, the clipsoff the hood, you know that kind
(20:22):
of thing. But yeah, it'snot it. This is not easy.
I've had one. I had acar myself. I couldn't find the turned
thing. And they're hard to get, you know, and they can be
and they could be very technical. But I would go that route is test
the battery look into maybe a tricklecharger. And again if when he parks
it, I'm just just disconnect thenegative cable. And you know, again,
(20:45):
if it sits for three or fourweeks or a couple of months and
you plug that thing in and oryou put that capable the negative cable back
on and it won't start, it'sthe battery. So can the battery.
Yeah, because once you disconnected,it has nothing to draw from anymore.
So correct. Yeah, hey, listen, thanks very much. I appreciate
(21:07):
portions about that. You know, you're talking about EVS. Yeah, I'm
not a big proponent because I don'tthink the technology is ready for prime time.
But I think the biggest concern Ihave is the batteries. Put one
of these cars in your garage, they can catch they can't catch fire,
and it's like, oh my gosh, you could and it's a chemical fire.
So you put water and isn't gonnaput it out. We'll put it
(21:27):
out absolutely, you know, youknow, And it's like when the battery
is finally got to be replaced,it's usually rough forty or fifty percent of
the value of the car. Whatcouple, yeah, a couple of good
I know. I know, andI'm here to tell you that. You
know, people come in every daytalking about it because they want kind of
(21:51):
our opinion on what our thoughts are. And it's like it's just not there.
There's just way there's you know,I think that at one point we'll
get there and at one point itmight make sense. And sure, I
know, you know, it's youknow, it's going to help the environment
per se, at least that's whatthey kind of push. But what what
we do to the environment to producethe batteries and how are we going to
(22:12):
get rid of the batteries. There'sa lot of things that we need to
figure out. And um, andagain they're they're just super expensive. So
I wouldn't own one. I cantell you that right now here, not
yet. No fact, if youwant to go on a long drive,
you've got to charge of someplace.Yeah, I mean, you know,
(22:36):
I drive my three boys. Um, I haven't. We haven't since COVID,
I haven't been. But you know, I drive my boys down to
Florida every year, the wife andkids. And you know it's fourteen hours
and I'm not stopping with three boysand and my wife every couple of hours.
Just to charge the battery. Andit's it's it's not like you get
off at a gas station and you'rethere for two minutes and get back on
(22:59):
the highway. You're there for youknow, a couple of hours. It's
just not you know, feasible. So no, it's not there. Yeah,
well, thank you very much, absolutely, Paul. I appreciate you.
You have a great day. Byebye. All right, I appreciate
all the questions. Um and um. That was that was a great,
great conversation. So all right, coming up, we've got Chad, Bob
(23:22):
and John. You're listening to carshow. I'm fifty five KR see the
talk station. Welcome back and listeningto the car show. I'm fifty five
KRE see the talk station. I'mDane Donov been taking your car questions.
The number to call five one threeseven nine fifty five hundred. As promised,
let's go back to the phones. We've got Chad. Chad, welcome
(23:42):
to the car show. How canI help hey? Um, right now,
I am in the process of tryingto buy a new vehicle. M
I had a Grand Cherokee that's justkilled me on repairs. Oh yeah,
and um, yeah, it's beenkind of money pits. Yeah yeah,
and a little all over your advice. I'm trying to focus my investments more
(24:02):
so at real estate right now.Sure, but I want to have a
nice vehicle. Um So, rightnow I'm looking at one half nineteen to
twenty UM small luxury stuvs so Xthree GLB two fifty UM and the RDS
or I can get into a twentytwo Honda Ridge Line. Um. I
(24:23):
like both vehicles, and I don'tlike one. Um, but you know,
lower miles much in a vehicle, and I've always heard a really good
reputation about Honda. Um or yourthoughts, um, So I would say,
(24:45):
Man, that's I'm torn between therig, the rd X and the
Ridge Line. I would stay awayfrom work. My absolute do not touch
is the X three? Really?Absolutely? They are you think you had
a money pit when you're driving yourjeep, You're gonna you're gonna be that.
(25:07):
You're gonna be in the repair shopa lot more with that X three.
Um, I'm sorry, I do. I owned one at one point,
uh but mine was like an ohfive. But man, I just
I mean we just put a timingchain on one this week and it was
ten thousand dollars and the car's gotset, the car's got one hundred thousand
miles on it. Um so andthen the UM the second one you said
(25:34):
that was a Mercedes, right mLYEA, So I really I really like
I think as far as luxury goes, uh, Mercedes is probably um the
best as far as retention and lastinglong and whatnot. But however, when
(25:56):
they do break, it's very expensive. They don't break that often, but
when they do, it's expensive.Okay, UM, And then the RDX
would be my probably probably my firstchoice. But again I love Accura.
They're a great product. And againit's a product of Honda. UM,
but it's the luxury Honda, right. So if they do break, um,
(26:22):
it is kind of pricey, notnearly as pricey as the is the
Mercedes. UM. But as faras I think practicality, UM, you
know it lasten you the Long twentytwo and they're all they're all certified,
UM. But on the logally ones, I'm probably looking at a nineteen.
(26:42):
Yeah. I mean for practicality,I'm more of a practical guy. I
want something that's low maintenance, notgonna cost me a ton of money,
is reliable, and I'm going withthe ridgeline. Okay, and then one
last nave question for you because Ido like Cheep. I know they're not
a great investment. Um, soI test to have a Gladiator because I
(27:03):
love how they look. Have youheard is that wind sound just part of
it? Because I mean I've drivenGrand Cherokees a lot, and driving that
I felt like I was in anairplane. I didn't know if it was
ahead or that's just how it's good. It's gonna be my everyday drive.
I don't have it in a videopole. That wind sound pretty standard.
Yes, yes, you're going toget that across the board on those things
(27:27):
because you know they're designed to beyou know, tops off and doors off,
and uh, you know, Ido like to look at the gladiator
as well. Um, but ifit's gonna be a daily driver, I
wouldn't buy one. Not for adaily driver. You know you're gonna put
big wheels and tires on it,take it out on the weekends, whatnot.
(27:48):
Sure, but you're driving it everyday. Like you said, you're
your primary focuses on real estate, and if you I don't know if you've
got clients or you've got people thatyou're maybe looking at the house is or
showing houses too or you got peoplein your car. Um. Not to
mention again the jeep. Cheep's allright, but they have their flaws too.
(28:11):
Um in my opinion. But um, I think in my if i'm
you, I'm getting the ridge Lineand then the Accura. If you're like,
you know what, I don't wantto do the ridge line. I
want something a little bit more, you know, nicer than do the Accura.
Um. But hands down, Iwould not touch the X three.
(28:34):
Keep keep keep your jeep. Ifyou buy an X three, keep the
jeep. They're just too expense. They're they're they're just man. Listen.
Fifteen twenty years ago, BMW was, they were, they were a great
product and I could stand behind them. But I just nowadays they're just um,
they're finicky, and they're expensive, and they're just not as reliable as
(28:59):
they should be, so you know, and even certified. Absolutely, I
don't. I don't care if they'regiving me a one hundred thousand mile warranty
on them. I'm I mean,if they're giving you a warranty on it,
keep it to the warranties out.But other than that, I'd get
away from I wouldn't keep it allright way, I really appreciate your advice.
(29:22):
Thanks so much. Hey, you'rewelcome, take care, Bye bye.
I don't know if you liked myadvice, but I don't. I
don't want to crust people's dreams.I mean, that's that's not what I'm
here for. Is just, uh, we just see too many problems with
them. And um, man,if you're buying one, and if you're
gonna lease it, I mean,if you lease, if you lease any
car for two or three years, you can buy whatever you want. But
(29:42):
it's the most expensive way to owna vehicle, right And uh, but
if you want something that's going tobe reliable, you want it to be
low maintenance. You want it tobe Um. You know, you want
to be able to just get topoint A to point B and not have
to you have the repair shop allthe time and spending all this money.
(30:03):
Um those you know, you don'twant to buy one of those things,
all right now, So hopefully theycome around and build a little bit of
a better pok. So all right, let's go back to the phones.
We've got Bob. Hey, Bob, welcome to the car show. How
can I help. Yeah, Ineed to buy it tires okay, and

(30:55):
I'd be moren't happy to take careof you. We'll get it looked at,
we'll check the breaks, check tires, we can discuss you know.
Well, my I don't I don'tthink it needs any front in work.
But it's five to cars five yearsold to seventeen legacy. Yeah, no,
it shouldn't be any type of frontin work, you know. But
tires and breaks. Yeah, wecertainly can check those out. And that's
the I'm at the Ridge Road location. But you can call and ask for
(31:18):

you as as a Friday, Mondayand Tuesday we were full. But Wednesday
Thursday and Friday, we'd be ableto get you in outmind you next weekend

right before Memorial Day weekend, callme, call us Monday or call me
Monday. And yeah, I'm notI'm not really uh not too free okay,
okay, yeah, no, notone of the numbers. So I
could call it. I guess Ishould give out more. I should give
out the numbers more often, soyou should, all right, I will,
I will do Bob, I will. I appreciate that you have a
(32:04):
great weekend. So all right,so we do have again Dane Donovan UM

RC dot com. Welcome back andlisten to the Car Show five KREE the
talk station. I'm Dane Donovan takingall of your car questions, and again
the number to call five one, three seven nine. So let's get We're
(33:14):
running out of time, so let'sget back to the phones as promised.
John, Welcome to the car Show. How can I help John? Sir?
Yes, sir, I can backto know about the location for a
vacuum reservoir on a twenty twelve twofifty vans. Okay, So what what
what do you have going on?What's can you kind of enlighten me on?
(33:38):
Are you having a four wheel driveissue or about it at all?
Okay? I'm having the event controlsystem that just puts the AC and the
heat in different ports as you switchit around from the floor when shield things
like that. Thence none of thatworks. And it's a twenty twelve forty
(34:00):
two fifty yes, okay, Soeverything nowadays as far as that goes,
is it's there's no vacuum. It'sall all electronic. So there's so yeah,
the older cars ran off vacuum, but on the twenty twelve that's it's
it's all electronics. So you've gotum you've got Blendor motors, you got
(34:24):
Blend door actuators, you got Ventdoractuators, and mainly the eight what we
call the hvact control head, theactual head that has the knobs is the
module that operates that system. Sois the blower working. Yes, In
fact, I put a new vanmotor in. Okay, So you put
(34:45):
a new blower motor in and justnothing, nothing's blown out of the vans
at all. Yeah, it blowseverything right up. Okay, So basic,
I think maybe I have the wrongage I gave you on the van.
That must people, whatever what you'retelling me, because I know for
sure it has a vacuum system, because I can see the red line coming
(35:07):
off the engine and when you pulloff on a little hose it connects it
to go in behind the heater system. You can feel suction on it.
I must have a twenty eight ora twenty ten. I had the last
(35:27):
series that Ford made on the Etwo fifty heavy duty version before they come
up with that transit system or whateverit's called. I had the last one
of the produced those heavy duty velins. M you think it might be a
twenty ten. Quite possible. SoI can tell you what. I'll play
(35:54):
you back next week. I'll getthe age four it give me answer.
I'll do a little bit of digging. But I mean what I got.
You know, I'm thirty eight yearsold when I got into this into this
business twenty three years ago. Yes, I would see a car that was
vacuum operated. But on a twentyten or twenty twelve, there's no way
(36:15):
it's vacuum operated. But yeah, call me, yeah, call me back
next week, give me the rightyear. I'll do a little bit of
digging myself and we'll get to thebottom of this, all right. It
is the age printed on the doorframe, Yes, sir, y yep,
it's gonna be printing. Open upthat door and on that B pillar
(36:37):
you'll see the stickers as far asthe the year in in the month,
and the year it was manufactured.Okay, driver's driver's side, driver's side,
Yes, sir, all right, you got thirty seconds, give me
I'll get it for you. Okay, Okay, here we go. Um,
(37:04):
I see a whole lot of infloyhere, but no age. It'll
say, you can sticker. It'skind of zero nine eleven here, that's
(37:25):
it. So it's in eleven.Yeah, okay, manufactured for motor company
date zero one eleven, so it'sa twenty eleven one. Okay, it's
still excuse me, it still shouldbe. It's not going to be vacuum
(37:49):
operated. It's not going to bevacuum operated. It's going to be electronic,
so is the screen. I'll doa little bit more taken next week.
But I haven't seen a vacuum operatedHVAC system in a long long time.
So all right, let's call backnext week see if we can try
(38:15):
and get him take care of them. All right, let's go back to
the phone. We've got Tom.Hey, Tom, welcome to car show.
How can I help? I justbought a new battery charger and it's
got an option that I've never seenbefore. The new option is says that
it's reconditioning the battery. And thisoption says that it it breaks up the
(38:49):
crystal line forms of the lead sulffate and turn these chemicals into useful battery
elector lights. Wow, that's onesophisticated battery charger you gout there. Wheren't
(39:13):
you bought that at I either homedepot or that that big one the minards,
No, not minards, the thebig grocery store. And and mhmm
(39:40):
okay, well I mean typically,so I'm not on the as far as
it called the vector, the vector, right, I'll have to look that
up. Um. So it's whatyou do is you put this thing in,
(40:02):
you hook up the battery cables, and then you hit the reconditioner and
it does that for about twelve hours, and it's supposed to free up the
crystal, break up the crystals, and and then after that you charge the
battery. I guess. So typically, I mean from from most of the
(40:24):
electronics that I have at home, like if you want to re if you
want to, um, typically, what it will do is it'll basically bring
the battery down to it's you know, it'll empty the battery and then recharge
the battery. I mean, mostof your newer electronics have that, and
(40:45):
it's not just not just car batteries. Um, I'll have to. I
don't know anything about the vector.I'll do a little bit of digging on
my on my end try to figureout what it does. But as far
as reconditioning the batter what I've seen, as far as most electronics go,
is what they'll do is they'll takethe battery and they'll drain it down to
(41:07):
its very end and then recharge it. And I'm but as far as the
vector goes, it looks like you'reright. Home Depot does sell it,
and I'm not too familiar with thesystem, but I do know that.
I mean, if you I'll haveto, I'll do a little bit more
(41:28):
digging, Tom, if you don'tmind, you would you would you give
me buzz back next Saturday. I'dlove to have a little bit more information
for you because I've never I've neverseen this product before. Do you mind
calling back next week? I wantedto hear about its abilidity before I tried
to use it. Yeah, Iunderstand, absolutely, and I let me
(41:52):
do. If you don't mind.UM, I'll do a little bit more
digging on this and try to figureout because I I've never heard of it,
I've never seen it, and typicallyall charges that I've ever seen just
basically charge it up, they don'trecondition it. So, UM, I
(42:12):
will do some more research. Giveme a buzz back next Surry and UM
I'll do. I'll do. I'lldo my homework and research on it and
I'll have a little bit of abetter answer for you. Okay, okay,
thank you to all right, havea great weekend. All right,
bye bye. UM. That thatis something that uh, I am not
familiar with. I mean, typicallywe charge battery up and we go on.
(42:36):
But as far as UM what he'stalking about, not not too familiar
with it. So all right,I'll be back next Saturday to answer all
of your car questions. Thank youso much for all the car um for
calling. That's what I'm here forand love to help you out. So
if there's anything that might pertain toyour vehicle, or you need guidance as
far as buying or news new orused vehicle, or you know, just
(43:00):
general maintenance or how can I prolongthe life of my vehicle, because as
as we all talked about, everything'smore expensive, and you know, your
vehicle is your second highest investment, right, You got your house and then
you got a car, and unfortunatelythe car is a depreciating asset, right,
so you want to get the lifeout of it as best you can
(43:22):
because unfortunately, unless you're buying aFerrari, your car values are not going
up. They're going down. Andyou want to get the most that you
possibly can for your vehicle and whateverthat takes changing the world, regularly checking
your air pressure, you know, prolonging, you know, when should I
(43:44):
be doing tune ups? That's whatthis is all about, is how can
we get more life out of ourvehicles and keep them keep them longer on
the road. And everybody in Americais keeping their cars longer and keeping them
on the road longer at it.But it's expensive. So that's what this
show is all about. I'll beback next Saturday to answer all your car
(44:05):
questions. Do love everybody calling everybody, have a great weekend. I'm gonna
be back next Saturday answer all yourcar questions. Thank you so much.
