Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Ruger Light RAG Security three eighty is easy to
shoot and easy to wreck, small enough to carry concealed
or in a purse, big enough to absorb recoil. Learn
more at Ruger dot com.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
He was the first and he's still the best. For
thirty years, Tom Gresham has been your trusted source on
all things ballistic, new guns, second amendments, personal protection, be
part of it, Paul, Tom Talk Gun Now.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Here's Tom, Hello, and welcome to gun Talk. I'm Tom Gresham,
your host. We're going to be talking about guns and
AMMO and rifles and pistols and shotguns and pretty much
any thing that has to do with guns over the
next three hours, having some fun and talk about some
serious subjects as well. A lot of things going on.

(00:50):
There's some new products we need to talk about, new
book I want to talk to you about. We got
the holsters, we got bipods and tripods, all the accessories.
But you know what people really want to know about
is how can I have a gun, choose a gun,
carry a gun for self defense? And we'll help you
out with that as well. If you want to talk

(01:11):
about that, by all means, give me a call. Eight
sixty six talk gun. I'll get you in here or
Tom talk gun. So a couple of days ago I
was able to grab Dave O'Connor from Smith and Weston
to talk about some of their new products. Here's that talk.
A lot of things going on in terms of new products,
and it's honestly, it's a little bit hard to keep

(01:32):
up sometimes. So we brought in Dave o connor from
Smith and Wesson a day before we talk about guns.
Explain hockey to me, because I'm not sure that's a
real sport man.

Speaker 4 (01:41):
It's a tough sport group.

Speaker 5 (01:42):
I grew up playing hockey group in the New England area,
so very very popular up there.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
But uh, it's a great sport man.

Speaker 5 (01:51):
It's hard, you don't you don't grow up, uh, you know,
walking on ice. So it's just kind of a lunch.
You got to start young, but right pace game.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
It's fast and it's rough, man. I mean you got
to be tough to do that.

Speaker 4 (02:04):
Yeah, you got to keep the head on swivel.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
How old were you when you started?

Speaker 5 (02:08):
I actually started a little later than most players. I
think I was around seven or eight years old, all.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
Right, So I've been trying to keep up with what's
going on at Smith and Weston. And it's almost impossible
the way you guys keep turning out product. You've got
new guns coming out all the time. It's like this
past week i went what is that? Was a ported
carry cop sheet? What do you have this week for us?

Speaker 5 (02:32):
Yeah, we've had a great lineup of new offerings, you know,
even across the calendar year for twenty twenty five, but
most recently actually this week, we launched our new Performance
Center Shield X airy cop model. So we released the
original Shield X back in July, and the whole premise

(02:54):
around that firearm is it's more ergonomically friendly.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
So we took some feedback that we received.

Speaker 5 (03:02):
From the Bodyguard design and we integrated that into the
Shield Plus line.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
So it's a micro compact striker fired.

Speaker 5 (03:10):
It's nine millimeter, just like the rest of the Shield series,
but we we ordered it so we have our power
port tech in the barrel, so that again helps mitigrate,
mitigate muzzle rise, especially for you know, more compact uh
terry firearm. Right, but we also slimmed slim the frame

(03:30):
in the right places, I like to say, and again
it's got that beaver tail similar to the Bodyguard frame,
you know, undercut trigger guard, and we added a rail
to the shield Deck series. So that's something folks have
been you know, asking for for years. So finally kind
of took you know, all the modern features that we
have across a lot of our Striker fired handgun series

(03:52):
and we kind of put all into one in the
Shield Decks line. So so the new carry comp is
the latest and greatest from the Shield.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Series double stacker, single stack, the.

Speaker 5 (04:01):
Double stack we offer it. So the frame, the grip
actually was extended a little bit to maximize capacity. So
with a flush fit magazine you're getting thirteen rounds thirteen
plus one. With the extended magazine you're getting fifteen plus one.
And we also have ten round compliant versions as well.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
Yeah, and then a smaller pistol like that. Having a
comp on it really makes a difference in shootability, especially
when you're trying to shoot fast.

Speaker 4 (04:26):
Yeah, no, it definitely helps. I notice it.

Speaker 5 (04:28):
And again with the Bodyguard series, we did something similar,
so we have a performance center carry com version of
that as well, and you know, why not why not
have the added feature you know, that helps with performance.
So it's a nice addition and I think folks are
excited about it.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
Hey, you mentioned that this is kind of a spinoff
from The Bodyguard. You took some features from that. We
ought to talk about the Bodyguard because I know at
a certain point these become like old guns to you,
but to the rest of us, they're still new, I
because you're working on them for a year or two
before they come out. But the Bodyguard is amazing pistol.
It's a three eighty that's incredibly small, but unlike a
lot of really small guns, this one's really I think

(05:07):
it's really easy to shoot.

Speaker 5 (05:09):
Yeah, very shootable, and it's it's amazing what our our
engineering and product team did with that with that firearm.
You know, looking at pictures doesn't do a justice. When
we first released The Bodyguard two point zero, you know,
we had we brought a group of uh of writers
in and influencers and we're given the presentation, you know,
like every corporate visit, you get the power point, right,

(05:30):
and we're showing.

Speaker 4 (05:31):
Pictures and and folks were interested in it, but it
wasn't until they got out.

Speaker 5 (05:35):
On the range and got in their hand, and you know,
they realized how small it is. But it was very
shootable and and that's a that's a not to the
ergonomic design uh that our engineering team UH did with that.
And you know, no matter your hand size, if you
have larger hands, it still works somehow. You know. It's
I think it has to do with extending the grip

(05:57):
a little bit versus the previous bodyguard model.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
Obviously Striker fired, but we put a.

Speaker 5 (06:03):
Beaver tail on top of the grip so you can
get a higher purchase, which is nice. And you know,
we made some cuts by the trigger guard so you
can really get a nice grip on it for how
small a fire it is. Like you mentioned, it shoots
very well.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
For how small.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
And I had the same experience you're describing. I got
down to range ready and Chris Rina saying, man, you
got to shoot this new bodyguard and going yeah, you
know it's okay. Fine. He says no, no, no, You're not
going to believe how small this is. And you go okay,
and then he brings out and it's like you put
it in your hand and it's like, oh my gosh,
that thing's tiny, and I think, okay, well, this is
not going to be a lot of fun to shoot. Typically, right,
you can go at the range and you're just drilling holes,

(06:40):
I mean, just doing bullseyes with this thing, and okay,
there's something different going on. I know. It's a combination
of a lot of features that you're engineering people put
into it. But you know, you get the three eight
to you of course, which is a little bit less recoil,
but a three eight is actually a good self defense
around these days with the good ammo we have. But man,
that thing just shoots.

Speaker 5 (06:59):
Yeah, it's impressive, it's and it's a great It's so
concealable too, so it's a great option. And you know,
with how small it is, you're still getting you know,
ten rounds or twelve round extended mag in there. So
you know, it's a great option for folks looking for
a new steel carry platform.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
And honestly, you know, I'm thinking about it's a great
pocket gun. But for the winter time when you maybe
wearing a coat, some of these smaller guns like the
Shield or the Bodyguard will go inside of a coat
pocket and you can work them from right there. All right,
So what else you got new for us?

Speaker 5 (07:33):
Yes, we've, like I said, we've had you know, a
good run of new products. Obviously, the Shield X platform
is one of the newer ones. The bodyguard upgrades were great.
We also released on the long gun side, we have
our model eighteen fifty four series released recently, some long
action thirty thirties and forty five seventy so if you remember,

(07:57):
we have our standard Stanley Steels anthetic variance. We have
our traditional Walnut models as well, and then we have
our more modern, you know, tactical lever gun stealth hunter variants.
So we originally launched those a couple of years ago
in the pistol calibers, and then as we progress, we've

(08:17):
released models with you know, long long action, so thirty thirty,
forty five, seventy, you know, more hunting rounds.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
All right, there's two other guns I want to talk
about before we run out of time here. One as
you're doing this kind of a I wouldn't say it's
the limited series, but you're the Mountain Gun is back
in revolvers. I know they're going through Lipsy's but man,
that is a great platform and people who like carry revolvers.
You got a four inch barrel trim down in several
different calibers.

Speaker 5 (08:45):
Now, we've done a great job of releasing some great
revolver designs. And you know, obviously back in January we
had the No Locked Classic series.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
Folks were excited about that.

Speaker 5 (08:58):
You know, we partnered with Lizzie on the Mountain gun line,
you know, with the six eighty six and other offerings,
And I think what's great about that is we're we're
taking proving revolver designs of the past and we're just
kind of adding some more modern features but still keeping
that classic aesthetics. So you know, they come with the
Tyler gun wal the grips.

Speaker 4 (09:19):
Right, and they come with beautiful.

Speaker 5 (09:21):
You know, classic site setups, and but you're still getting
that you know Smith and Weston quality fit and finish
and feel, which is you know, some more modernized tweets
here and there for the average consumer.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
Okay, the only one I want to talk about, and
it's not like the newest thing, but the M and
P pistol line has been around now what twenty twenty
five years, I don't believe. Well, it's a great platform.
And you got two point zero and then you got
the Metal series and then you got the Compact. And
I just got to tell you, for me personally, that
MP Metal Compact may be one of the great carry

(09:57):
guns that is not as appreciated as it should be.

Speaker 4 (09:59):
Yeah, that's a great that's a great platform.

Speaker 5 (10:01):
Yeah, the m P M two point on line, it's
kind of been our flagship handgun series. You know, we've
had different offerings over the years. We've done Spec series guns.

Speaker 4 (10:12):
You know, we.

Speaker 5 (10:13):
Integrated the metal aluminum frame like you mentioned, and yeah,
earlier this year we released the compact version of that
metal line. We offer them in three point six and
sparrels four inch barrels. But yeah, they're great. They're great
carry platforms. You know, they're a compact frame. You get that,
you know, a little additional weight to it, you know,

(10:35):
more of a rigid frame from superferred over Palmer, but
you still get the performance like like any m m
P that we offer.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
Yeah, and they just just shoot. They're comfortable, you can
hand with anybody and they'll shoot them. David Connor, thank
you so much, appreciate your time. All right, don't go
for eight sixty six talk gun is the number here?
Give me a call. We'll be right back with more
gun talk.

Hi, y'all, this is a W. R. Hawkins from brib
Barton News.

Speaker 1 (13:08):
Welcome back to gun Talk.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
Well. This should be a wake up call for everybody. Welcome,
by the way, I'm Tom Gresham. I'd want to join
us eight sixty six Talk Gun or Tom Talk Gun.
You could follow me over at X. I am at
gun Talk over there. The wake up call was the
election we had last Tuesday where Democrats radical democrats one

(13:36):
New Jersey, Virginia and certainly the new mayor of New
York a super radical leftist communist. The reason I say
is should be a wake up call several things, A
lot of things going on here. One is that Zolin

(13:56):
mundanmi he he's just out there saying, look, we need
to ban all guns. We need to ban all guns
was the exact quote from him, and he was elected overwhelmingly.
People who just got elected in New Jersey and Virginia

(14:17):
feel the same way. In Maine, they passed a new
red flag law, a gun confiscation law. What's going on, Well,
a lot of things are going on, actually, and I
think we got to think about it. We got to
talk about it, we got to consider, we got to ponder,
and then we got to figure out what are we

(14:38):
gonna do about it. Part of what's going on is,
of course, a change in how people get their information. Imagine, yeah,
depending on how old you are, twenty thirty, forty years ago,
reading newspapers, watching Walter Cronkite, there were limited number of

(15:00):
ways to get your news, and generally they were vetted
that as there was a gatekeeper. Somebody used to look
at them and going, okay, yeah, that is accurate, and
we will put that out now. Whether or not they
were always accurate, whether or not they were always non biased.
Of course they weren't, but perhaps I would say more
so than today. The lady who adult, lady who cuts

(15:21):
my hair says she gets all of her news from TikTok. Huh,
what to say about that. I think probably a majority
of people under the age of thirty now get most

(15:42):
of their news feed from TikTok, which is of course
algorithms that feed you what you want and what you
like and what will keep you pasted to the app
regardless of whether it's accurate or not. It's not news,
it's propaganda. It's being poured into your brain. You actually

(16:02):
have to work these days to go find news. You
have to look at multiple sources. You have to say, Okay,
I'm going to go try to be informed on something.
My typical day is spent going online and looking at
Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, any number of left wing sites

(16:23):
as well as right wing sites, and trying to find
out somewhere in the middle of that, we're going to
find some balance of what's actually going on, or at
the very least finding out what people are saying on
all sides of an issue. But that requires some work.
It requires you to say, I'm going to be a
responsible American and a responsible voter. I'm going to work
at becoming informed. Most people won't do that. Besides, it

(16:48):
feels good to have your algorithm feeding you the stuff
that makes you feel good about your biases. And we
all have biases. Okay, So back to what happened. Part
of it was a big change in the amount of
money being spent on these campaigns. The anti gun groups

(17:11):
outspent gun rights groups, which there really is only one.
Let that sink in for just a minute, because there
really is only one gun rights group that spends money
on elections. There are a number of gun rights groups
that do good work in the courts, litigation, not legislation.

(17:33):
It's certainly not working in the elections, and it's the NRA.
The NRA is traditionally the group that is put money
millions of dollars into campaigns. The NRA was a wall
not there, not because the people who are there are bad,
but because the people who are there now are trying

(17:54):
to get over the mess that Wayne Lapierre and his
cohorts made of the When I talk to the people there,
they say, Tom, it's so much worse than any of
us knew. It's so much worse than you know. The
amount of money that was stolen, the amount of money
that was taken, the amount of money that's borrowed, putting

(18:15):
the organization in debt. As a result, they've had to
let a whole bunch of people go. They've cut back
on the magazines. They're trying to save money everywhere they can.
I think they have hit a balanced budget for the
first time in decades. But what that means is they
don't have very much money to put into the elections.

(18:35):
We can win in the courts and losing the elections,
and that's a loss. That's a net loss because eventually
you lose if you keep losing elections, eventually going to
lose the courts. What do I mean by that? It's
really this simple, on a grander scale, drill down to
just the United States Supreme Court. How do those nine

(18:58):
people who are there get those chairs? How do they
get those seats? The United States Senate? You lose control
of the Senate, you lose control of who sits on
the Supreme Court. And the Democrats said, look, we're going
to pack the court. We're going to take it from
nine to thirteen, which means we'll be able to add
four liberal justices to the Supreme Court. That all goes

(19:23):
back to elections. If gun rights supporters win elections, we
get to control the courts where we can win in courts,
but only until enough liberal judges are put in justices
where we can't win in the courts, Which takes us

(19:44):
back to the conversation we had last week with Doug Hamlin,
the executive vice president of the NRA, and you cannot
well maybe you can't believe. I was going to say,
you can't believe, but maybe you can. The pushback I've
gotten when I say, you know, it's time for people
to get back in the NRA, people go they they
did this, they did that. Yeah, that was them, not
the current guys. And here's a question for you for

(20:08):
all those people who said, well, I'm not gonna give
any money, I'm not gonna renew while Wayne LaPier is there, Okay,
I think that was probably a good thing to say,
but you know, he's not there anymore, hadn't been for
a couple of years. The reformers have taken over. They're
making big changes, good changes, worthwhile changes. Wayne LaPier is

(20:32):
no longer. There isn't it time for you to come back.
You said I'm not going to be there while he's there,
He's gone. No one else is putting money into elections.
No one else is going to put money into the elections.

(20:53):
And if we lose more governors, more mayors, and when
we start losing how seats and Senate seats, it's going
to be huge, and not in a good way. You
can correct me, call me, let me know if you
think there's somebody else who can do this work out there.

(21:15):
I don't know of anybody. I mean, I've been looking
at this for fifty years now actively. I don't know
of any other group that works the elections like the
NRA traditionally has. And they weren't there this year. They
weren't there in this election we had last week. They
need to be there in the midterms next year because
that's critical. That's control of the House, that's control of

(21:35):
the Senate. So taking it down to an individual responsibility level,
what is your responsibility? Is it to set on the
sidelines and pout and say, well, they did this to
me and I feel betrayed and I'm not going to
do this blah blah blah blah. I don't know. I

(21:56):
see that as a bit of virtue sagely the time
to get involved. I mean, did you mean it when
you said I'm gone while Wayne's there, because implied in
that is I'll come back when he's gone. He's gone,
So are you coming back? Eight six' six talk gun

(22:23):
in just a. MINUTE i want to talk about a
story out of the news or somebody alleges that it
was a home. Invasion turned out it. Wasn't shooting went.
Wrong there are lessons to be learned from. That, FIRST
i want to take this Call porter's called in online
two out Of Helena. Montana, Hey, porter how can we up?

Speaker 10 (22:42):
Today, Well i'm just wondering you have any listeners out
there who are carrying for like church or, whatever and
what like types of systems are using to help them
be able to keep that firearm as concealed as possible

(23:03):
and be able to keep it silver like smile should
they need?

Speaker 2 (23:06):
It?

Speaker 3 (23:07):
Oh, okay, Yeah so basically the question is how to
carry conceal while at? Church so let me ask you.
This do you carry concealed anywhere? ANYTIME i?

Speaker 10 (23:17):
Do, YEP i do just kind of in my everyday.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
Life so tell me how you, carry what kind of,
holster where is? It and how do you do cover? Garment?

Speaker 10 (23:26):
Cool SO i have a THICK p sixty five and
a cross breed freedom carry. HOLSTER i carry usually three
to four o'clock and on inside the waistband with a
usually a jacket or a long shirt outside of.

Speaker 3 (23:47):
THAT i think you just described almost exactly WHAT i
was going to tell you to do for. Church why
would that not work for?

Speaker 10 (23:55):
Church because primarily that CHURCH i try to, wear and
that changes things.

Speaker 3 (24:02):
Quite a bit for. Me how does it change?

Speaker 10 (24:05):
THINGS i Guess i've found more instances where my firearm
prints than in just my regular.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
Clothing, okay all, right so, yeah, honestly probably you have
a nice coat for your suit that is nice and
form fitting and fits you, correctly and, yeah that's more
likely to. Print two thoughts. Here one buy a coat
that is one size, larger a couple of inches larger

(24:36):
and chest. Size the other, is don't button the. Coat
leave it unbuttoned all the, time and then it won't
be a. Problem. Gotcha the other, issue and let's talk about,
This typically your gun belt won't fit in your suit,
pants and you may have to go to a narrower

(24:58):
gun belt by a different gun belt than. Work but
we'll go into those narrow belt. Loops it's just it's
a minor adjustment but it's something to keep in. Mind
if you've got like a one and a half inch
wide gun, belt that's probably not gonna work in the
belt loops of your pants for your. Suit, okay. Gotcha

(25:19):
BUT i think you basically have a good setup, there
and the most immediate things you can do would be
to get a different belt and simply don't button the.
Coat if it's, loose it'll blouse out and nobody will see.
It it'll be, fine. Gotcha, okay good? Deal all, Right,
WELL i wish you luck With, hey how long have

(25:41):
you been carrying in?

Speaker 10 (25:42):
CHURCH i SO i haven't, been But i'm wanting to
start carrying in. Church i've been carrying my pistol pretty
regularly for about the past six years or.

Speaker 3 (25:56):
So, okay good. Deal the only other THING i would
offer is the best piece of equipment you could add
to all of this is a good training, class and
go get take a really good class and work on
drawing from, concealment drawing with a soup code on type of,
thing and particularly in a church. Environment were, everywhere, honestly

(26:21):
but particularly the church, environment accuracy is. Paramount speed is,
good but speed has to go out the window Because
accuracy is. Everything you can't make a shot that doesn't
go exactly where it's supposed to. Be, yep, Absolutely, Okay
SO i would say work on, that work on your
draw and then making one shot where you could hit

(26:43):
a playing card and never one hundred percent of the,
time never go outside of a playing. Card, okay all,
right a good. Deal appreciate the calls, There thank you
for your. Call let me talk for just a second
here about something that happened out In. CALIFORNIA a cleaning
team goes to a. House this ladies part of the cleaning,

(27:06):
team and she's got the key to the house where
they're supposed to go clean it. Up, unfortunately they went
to the wrong house and she's trying to open the.
Door she's got the key and it's just not. Working
and it'says like that man you, know can't get in the.
Door and she's standing outside the door and a guy
inside the house shoots through the. Door let me say that.

(27:28):
Again he shoots through the, door shoots her in the,
head and kills. Her he called it in as a
home invasion. Attempt this dude would not want me to
be on his. Jury, why because that's wholly. IRRESPONSIBLE a

(27:51):
person on the other side of the. Door a locked
door is not a threat to you if they're not
shooting through the door At you could be your drunk
late Neighbor, larry who got confused about which house he
was going, to and now his key won't work to
get him into the, house and he's struggling to get
his key to work in your. House do you, Shoot?

(28:12):
Larry you don't shoot through. Doors you don't shoot when
you don't know who the person is or what that person's.
Doing you don't shoot un till you've identified this as a,
positive absolute. Threat what would you? Do people? Doing? Well What?

(28:35):
Tom what would you? Do this is. EASY a lot
of tactical situations are. Difficult this one's really. Easy, okay
somebody is making noises like they're trying to get into your.
House you yell at, them don't come. IN i have
a GUN i called nine to one. One if they're

(28:57):
a good, person they're going to turn around and. Leave
if it's a bad, person they're going to kick in
the door and try to come. In you know where
they are when they try to come in that, door
they're in that thing we call the fatal. Funnel it's
where you don't want to be by the. Way but
when they kick in the door come, in they're back
to lit like an, angel and it's time for you

(29:17):
to make them. One if they're coming through the, door that's.
Perfect you now can shoot them because they have kicked
in a door and come into your. House if they're
outside of your. House repeating this because it's worth repeating many.
Times they're not a. Threat what are you? Doing And

(29:42):
jim just told me about another where somebody finds somebody
in his garage shoots that him and it ends up
chasing this kid down the street and shooting. Him, no
you don't get to chase people down and shoot.

Speaker 4 (29:53):
Him.

Speaker 3 (29:53):
No if you are confused about this because you're stone
cold ignorant about the subject, matter what do you do about?
Ignorance you pour into education and knowledge and you stamp it.
Out and you do that by taking a class or

(30:15):
reading a bunch of books on the subject and becoming
a subject matter. Expert you decide to get a gun
for self, defense you decide to have a means of
ending someone else's. Life you have a huge responsibility to
do it right and to not screw it, up and

(30:38):
to know what the law, is to know how to do,
things to know how to handle, tactics to know how
to handle. Situations i'm sorry shooting through a door killing
the cleaning. Woman, nope you don't get a pass on.
That i'm, sorry go directly to. Prison just my take on.
It you may. Disagree if you, do give me a
holler eight six, six talk goun and be right.

Speaker 11 (30:59):

Speaker 1 (32:07):
Freedom And.

Speaker 3 (32:23):
I'm thinking a little bit more about this situation where
the homeowner shoots through the door and kills the cleaning.
Lady shoot you in the head because he's at the
wrong house and her keys won't, work and here's keys
jangling and somebody trying to get. In, yeah if they
kick in the, door you can shoot. Him that's. Defensible

(32:45):
but you know it still might be Drunk larry who
just got ticked off and he's. Drunk maybe you pull
back and you get some, cover you get behind a kitchen,
counter you get behind, something and yell, out stop right,

(33:08):
THERE i have a. Gun give them one more chance
to make a good. Decision your call just saying it's
life altering if you shoot. Somebody certainly if you kill,
Somebody and for the people who, say, well if he's
in my, House i'm gonna shoot, Him, okay your call

(33:31):
man might work out for, you might. NOT i think
a lot of people just haven't thought this stuff. Through,
also a lot of the things they think they know
are simply not. True their. Faults it's movie, nonsense IT'S tv,

(33:52):
nonsense And i've said this. Before, look if you don't
have any other source of, information that void in your
head is going to get filled with, something and the
category of the self self defense with a gun gets
filled in with, movies scenes AND TVs and westerns and

(34:12):
it's all. Nonsense it's all. Nonsense and CAN i just
be really, Blunt you're an idiot if you think that's
information or if you allow it to be informations in your.
Head if you decided to have a gun for self,
defense you got to fill your head with the right.

(34:35):
Stuff so why? Why because that allows you to make
good decisions under. Pressure if you have run a scenario
through your head one hundred times and, said if this,
happens THEN i will do, that and then if this,
HAPPENS i will do. That when it, happens you will
do the things you have programmed yourself to. Do if

(34:59):
you have have it done, that if you haven't taken,
training if you haven't watched the right, videos which would
be our, videos if you haven't read any books on
self defense with, guns then the thing that is programmed
into your head is the scenes from movies AND. Tv
and they're wrong and they're liable to get you a

(35:23):
new place to, live a sell for the next twenty
years where you don't have to make any decisions anymore
because you don't get to make any decisions anymore about your.
Life i'm just saying you have a responsibility and with
that responsibility comes an opportunity to do the right. Thing

(35:46):
there's you, KNOW i, mean, LOOK i get. It there's
a bell, curve and everything choose to be on the
right side of, it way out there on the, informed,
trained competent. Side most people live in the, middle but
a lot of people live on the left side of, it, untrained, incompetent,
clueless and yet convinced they're. Right which is an interesting,
situation isn't. It let's Go lie, Three John's willis And Salina. Kansas, Hey, John.

Speaker 13 (36:16):
Ali, TOM i was just listening and heard you talking
about the person that shot the cleaning lady through the,
door AND i share your absolutely disgusted with. That AND
i was Telling Michelle Karen, Kansas i've actually taken the
Concealed carry class a couple of, times And i've been

(36:37):
to other Training i've been down To Range ready one,
time But i've been to other classes AND i take
the concealed carry, class so THAT i am sure of
what the laws are and what any. Changes AND i
was telling, her at least In, kansas the concealed carry
class probably two thirds to three fourths of it is

(36:57):
understanding where one is allowed to use deadly. Force, yeah it,
is it, is it. Is AND i you, know my
experience has been there's easy ten or fifteen people in the.
Class most of us understand that almost, intuitively that, no
we can't be chasing somebody, Down we can't just shoot

(37:19):
somebody because we don't like the way they looked at.

Speaker 3 (37:21):
Us or.

Speaker 13 (37:24):
And of Course i've watched a lot Of first Person
defender and that you learn a lot in. That but
and the other point, IS i think last week or
two weeks, AGO i can't, remember there was the somebody
that had infiltrated the mom's ma.

Speaker 3 (37:44):
Action oh, yeah yeah.

Speaker 13 (37:46):
Thing and of course their perception, is or they're stated
proof is, that OH i just just shoot. Everybody and you,
KNOW i think it then come upon responsible gun owners
to come down just as hard when you see something like,
this and if somebody brings it up in a, CONVERSATION i, say,

(38:09):
no that person needs to go to. Jail i'm with.
You they better not Hope i'm on the, jury because,
no that's not.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
The way to do.

Speaker 3 (38:18):
It, no johnny're exactly all. Right, LOOK i appreciate the,
call AND i thanks for going down to range your
ready cool. Place, yeah we got to call it out
when somebody does it. Wrong we can't say, yeah that's
one of. Us no you go, no, no, no, no
that's not what we. DO nra never has said to shoot.
Everybody that's what. Nonsense, then is the leading training organization

(38:39):
probably in the world for private citizens with guns and teachers.
Responsibility good, point The Concealed Carry. Class even if you
are not required to have a, permit you can take
the class and learn what the laws are in your.
State even if you're our constitutional carry, state taking the
class is a really worthwhile. Thing at least my take

(39:01):
eight six' six talk, gun now you can share, your take.
All right coming up today on, the show we've got
lots of stuff. Going on we got talking about some cool.
Rifle cartridges we're gonna be talking about a bear attack
and how a guy got charged by A grizzly he

(39:25):
ended up inventing a cool holster as a result, of
it and then we're gonna be talking about some cool
things in terms of, hunting gear, And well i'm shooting,
gear too because the bipods and the triples have become a,
big thing and we'll be talking about that. As well
we just got we found out that he's going to, Be,
Here jim so that looks good thinking about this idea

(39:46):
of a conceal carry class as a. Training class, and
Yep and i've said this BEFORE you a lot of
times you will not learn much in the way of
shooting in a, concealka class but that's not really what.
It is think of it is a very inexpensive class
to learn how to keep yourself out, of prison what

(40:06):
you can and, can't do what, should do how to.
HANDLE situations a lot of times they offer good information
on getting out of, a situation. De escalating good information,
to have although this day of, road rate some people
just are always looking for. A. Fight yeah the, problem

(40:28):
is as we see in some of, the videos when
you decide you're going to go bash on, somebody's car
sometimes they take real offense, to it and if you
try to rip them out of, the car they're all
liable to. Shoot you that would be in most places
be justifiable by. The way that's truly the question is?
It justifiable that is can you defend it? In court

(40:50):
and you need to know what those things are. Are
there there are a lot of situations where that's. Not
justifiable it's they're not going to rule that it's legal
for you to. DO that i, Can. SEE okay a
class will often, say, okay yeah these are the things you.
Can do this is when, you can this is when.
You can't and the other part of it IS and
i talk about this, a LOT and i. THINK it
i don't know if it lands or if it goes over.

(41:11):
People's heads for, me personally let me put it in.
This term i'm going to look for every possible way
to not have to. Shoot somebody, people, say well, you
know WHEN can i? Shoot? THEM nah i think maybe
that's the. Wrong question and career question is HOW do i?

(41:34):
Avoid that HOW can i get away? From THAT Can i, people,
Say well i'm Not gonna i'm not. Gonna, RETREAT well.
I am i can tell. YOU this i AM if
i can, get AWAY if i can somehow get this
person to, De escalate i'm going to DO everything. I,
can now look clearly if somebody's trying to really, hurt
you they're taking a baseball bat or cobar, to you

(41:55):
or coming at you with a knife or got. A,
gun yeah do what you, gotta do and then make
you Shot, Count okay but if there's a way to not, do,
THAT man i, tell you any day you don't, shoot
somebody it's a good day as Far as. I'm concerned
so just, AND look i have, people, say well you know,
that person she's a threat if she's trying to get in.

(42:15):
The door no. She's not if she's standing outside a,
locked door how is she a threat? To you how
can she? Hurt you we got to get, over this,
he man. CHEST thumping i am the defender of. My
castle if a little bit more nuanced look at some,

(42:40):
of this maybe people just haven't done a lot of,
what ifs all the what If, it's larry your. Drunk
neighbor what if it's somebody who just had a terrible
wreck down the street and they're trying to get somebody to,
come help and they're pounding on your, DOOR screaming i,
NEED help i, need help come. Out here, you know

(43:03):
the car's, on fire my girlfriend's. Trapped inside can you.
HELP me.

Speaker 4 (43:08):
I.

Speaker 3 (43:08):
Don't know is it, a scam is? It real i'm,
just saying. Don't assume just food for thought. For, you
hey when we, come back we're going to talk about
some cool, rifle cartridges some things that you find interesting.
For sure also bear attacks h always interesting to talk.

(43:30):
About that and then of course the upcoming midterm election
and IS the nra? Done for are you done with
The na are you willing to come back Now that?
Wayne's gone interesting questions all the. Way Around I'm. Tom
gresham we'll be right back if we're gun talk

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
