Speaker 3 (01:03):
It is our number three in a three hour show.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
At the bottom of this hour trolling and rolling with
Martin Weiss, Fox Sports Radio week End host.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
So that's always fun. Keep it locked for that and Rob.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
The Lakers up thirteen in control firmly in the third quarter,
still rather early, but they're having their way with the Pelicans.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
It's just tough. They're a tough matchup.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Rob G and I were just talking about they're a
tough matchup for the Pelicans.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
It's not over.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
But I'm not surprised at all what's going on. This
is what I expected. So with that said, Rob, let's
move on. Now you gotta top it. You're just chomping
at the bit to get to No, I'm just Blake
Griffin retired with today.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
I thought he was tired already.

Speaker 4 (01:57):
I'm just saying, yeah, he's last several No, just Chris,
when you start talking about the Hall of Fame and
you know where I am with it. I really think
it's supposed to be an exclusive club and not everybody
gets in, you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
And we saw.

Speaker 4 (02:17):
Vince Carter got in, right, eight time All Star, two
time All NBA, So if you're gonna look at that
with Vince, okay, But if you're gonna look at that
Blake Griffin, six time All Star, okay.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
So that's just a couple of times less than Vince Carter.
And here's the best.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
Vince Carter was just a two time All NBA player
and Blake Griffin was a five time All NBA player,
So when you start looking at this, how can he
not be considered or at least thought about very heavily
to be in the Basketball Hall of Fame if you're
Blake Griffin. And I know they didn't want anything with

(02:58):
the Clippers, Chris, but they had a a squad, they
were high flying and entertaining, and people were into Blake
Griffin for a moment.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
He had the national commercial he jumped over to what
was it.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
On the best game Dunkers?

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Right? I mean, there's a lot of stuff.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
So do you have a problem with Blake Griffin if
people wanted to put him in the Hall of Fame?

Speaker 3 (03:19):
Or or is this or is this going over the
top for you?

Speaker 4 (03:22):
Because I'm just I don't think based on where what
we've gotten to now, I don't know how he's not.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
I don't think it's just a I mean, you take
as you know, Rober, there are a plethora of things
that you look at. I don't think you only look
at accolades.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
That's part of it.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
But I don't when I think of Blake Griffin, I
think of one of the greatest game dunkers in NBA history.
At times. I've even had him in my top five
number five, that's arguable. But he's certainly one of the
great game dunker, certainly top ten, and he was a

(04:04):
great player for a while, But I don't think of
him as a Hall of famer.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
Vince Carter, to me, is a Hall of famer.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
I think Vince was better than Blake, with both of
them at their heights, at their peaks. But here's the
look the one. I thought you were gonna go at
Vince Carter.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
No, not Reggie Miller. Let me just give you.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
Five time All Star, three time All NBA. So so
Blake has him beat in both categories.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
I thought you were gonna you may not even know
this guy is a Hall of famer. I'll give you
a hit. Go ahead, showtime Lakers.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
Michael Cooper, Yeah, I mean he respect He averaged nine
points right then?

Speaker 1 (04:57):
He averaged nine points? Ever made an All Star our team?
How in the world nine points a game? Actually eight
point nine, but.

Speaker 4 (05:05):
That you round it off to nine point No, No, I'm
just but look, well.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Blake Griffin. If if Michael Cooper is a Hall of Famer,
then Blake Griffin's.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
A Hall of Fame.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
No, doubt Blake Griffin was on a whole another Tierrich,
Can you explain that he was several tiers ahead of
Michael Cooper?

Speaker 3 (05:28):
Explain to Michael Cooper, to me because I can't.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
Okay, all I can say is he was on those
championship teams.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
Now he was.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
He was a very good He was a great defender.
But that's he was an eight time All Defensive team
because you said one time Defensive Player of the Year.
No All Stars though, no Rob, There's no way. And
again love for Michael Cooper, but there's no way. As

(06:02):
a player, he was a Hall of Famer. Now Here
you asked for an excellent explanation, I might be able
to give it to you. Didn't he coach? How did
he win championships as a coach? Was he won two?

(06:22):
With the comments? All right, it's the professional or not
it's it's the Basketball Hall of Fame two time with
the shafts, right, So there you have it, Robed, that
might be it. He won two championships as a coach.

(06:43):
He was a good player, very good player, and a
great defender.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
And that's probably how you explained it.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
Plus the fact that he was on a legendary team,
but Rob, forget Blake.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Look if Michael Cooper's.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
And Blake Griffins definitely in, Andra Gdala's in. I mean,
unless you unless it is really the coaching he wanted.
We're trying to the guy as a player, Andredala's in,
which everybody's in.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Who's out? Core Brad Maxwell needs to be up in arms?

Speaker 4 (07:16):
Well yes, cor Brad can say at least I let
the league in waving towels, Chris, I don't want you
think card.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
I always do that. I always get them mixed up.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
You know that won the finals MVP and Larry Bird's
first championship.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
Rob, who was I think.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
That Byron Scott?

Speaker 3 (07:40):
Byron Scott? Who should get we should get him on
the line. I know his friend chair Chris, you think
he fell out of his chair.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
Well, I'm sure that he was, like, oh, I mean again,
the only explanation is that it's the coaching.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
The coaching put him over the top.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
And you know they're pushing obviously all things w NBA.
You know what I mean, all things women's basketball. Sorry,
I'm gonna say, Chris, can.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
You understand what I'm saying?

Speaker 1 (08:13):
No, I mean, do you think that's the only explanation
I could give, and yeah, he was on the legendary team,
but he wasn't a star.

Speaker 4 (08:20):
But this is where and I'm saying this for real.
Hear me out, Adam Silver.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
This is to him.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
If you want to have something for your legacy, Chris,
something that you could walk away from, and it not
just be the playing or the nd season tournament, but
have something to leave behind. I implore you start the

(08:54):
NBA Hall of Fame. I'm dead serious, Chris, start a
Hall of Fame and then you could just go and Chris,
what you do is to start you pick out. When
they started the Baseball of Fame, they put a certain
amount of people in, you know what I mean, like
the original group, and then you start voting as you

(09:14):
go along.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
But this is ridiculous. You got you have to and
you know what.

Speaker 4 (09:19):
The Basketball Hall of Fame can continue to do whatever
it wants, but you gotta.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
Get the best Cooper in there.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
As as coach for the w NBA Championship level. Coach
was a great defensive player in the NBA. Yeah, I
agree with you. I totally agree with you. He has
to and again, no disrespect for Coop, but here's I'm
gonna ask you this, though, Rob, what is the one play?

(09:48):
I'm gonna ask both Robs, what is the one play
when you think of Mike Michael Cooper and you think
of a play, what's the play?

Speaker 3 (10:05):
D Then he dribbled the ball off his foot. Okay,
that Rob Gen, you got one.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
I do not what.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
Got dunked on? And by doctor J. Was that Michael Gams.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
Rock the Cradle, Rock the baby dunk? Yes, it was
Michael Cooper ducking under the rim, protecting his head.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
That is the lasting.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
Image of what we think of when we think of
Michael Cooper. I want to hear from the callers, some
of the older ones, Mark from Sacramento, if he ain't
mad about yesterday. We love Mark. We love Mark. But
don't tell us we don't watch games. He's telling you
on crack, Chris, I went to that, don't crack. But

(11:00):
I'm and again Coop was great. But Rob, you are right,
essentially every player, honestly, how.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
Can they turn anybody down? I'm not I'm not being.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
Anybody that was of any significance, right, I mean honestly,
And he's not as good as Cooper and he didn't
make eight all defensive teams he made three Patrick Beverly,
I mean that's what Coop was. That type of defender better,

(11:37):
But that's that's Coop's that was his claim to fame.
I'm a great defender. But Rob, it was magic.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
It was Kareem, it was worthy, it was Byron Scott.

Speaker 1 (11:53):
Chris, the whole team. That's a going now, I mean
the whole team. I'm sorry, it's just I know Cooper
was floored. He probably never thought of himself as a
Hall of Fame. And I guess, and Rob g what
is the years? The term limit, not the term limit,
but you know, the limit on years because maybe they're
I mean, heck he was.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
He won his championships in one and two. Chrich.

Speaker 4 (12:16):
The one thing about baseball, you're only on the ballot
for ten years. You can't get in that long, you
know what I mean, Like if they don't vote you
in ten it used to be fifteen, is down to
ten and now ten years and you're off the ballot.
It shouldn't be whether you're on the ballot for forty years, Chris,
it doesn't.

Speaker 3 (12:33):
Even make sense.

Speaker 1 (12:34):
I love Coop, but and I keep saying it because
I you know, he's retired Rob, I hate to you
know what I mean?

Speaker 3 (12:40):
Yeah, but you're not You're not love what it is
and you're not talking about Coop the person.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
We're just and Cooper was a great Coop, Rob, he
knows he wasn't a Hall of Fame player. He knows
he wasn't a Hall of Fame player. Again, it might
have been because of the coaching, Robbie, what you got?

Speaker 5 (12:59):
You said? He wants you to know what was the
the the year's limit right, Baseball's only ten years. According
to the Basketball Hall of Fame website, there is no
time limit as to when you could get.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
If that makes no sense? Does it? Does it?

Speaker 5 (13:12):
Hey, Chris, you might get in the Hall of Fame
as a contributor.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
Real talk.

Speaker 4 (13:18):
I mean, it's just you know, Chris is getting in
the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 3 (13:22):
I'm just saying. I'm telling you straight up, I'm not.

Speaker 5 (13:26):
It's gonna be Chris Chrichael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Cooper,
Like you're gonna get into.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
The Hall of Fame. You know what I just said
to you. Look at me, I'm telling you we uh
look it just Rob, you said it. They should have.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
That is a great legacy for Adam Silver. It is
it's time because this is and you're right, you could,
you could really up the standard. And like you said,
let the Basketball Hall of Fame keep doing what they
want to do, but up the standard. It's inb players
and coaches. If you executive NBA Hall of Fame, the NBA.

Speaker 4 (14:04):
Why shouldn't they have a Hall of Fame like baseball
and the Pro football quick?

Speaker 3 (14:08):
Right? Like for real?

Speaker 4 (14:10):
Find a good spot that you want to put it
in and get that thing done.

Speaker 3 (14:15):
Build in, yeah, build in?

Speaker 1 (14:18):
I agree, all right? Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
Has the NBA or basketball gone too far? Putting Michael
Cooper in the Hall of Fame? And do you like
Rob's idea? I love it about the NBA starting its

Basketball Hall of Fame just gotten too open?

Speaker 3 (16:46):
Right to open?

Speaker 4 (16:48):
Yes, people are like coming in through the windows now, Chris,
all right, let's kick it off with John in New Hampshire.

Speaker 3 (16:56):
You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 7 (16:58):
What's up, John, Good evening, fellas as usual. You're nailing it.
I mean, there's too many people in the Basketball Hall
of Fame. I mean, Michael Cooper was a really good player,
but I think the early part of that dynasty, Norm
Mixon was a better player than Michael Cooper individually.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
Right, it's not even close. Nixon was like a legit
All star.

Speaker 7 (17:20):
Absolutely. He was a guy who was leading the Lakers
and assists in the first year. Magic Johnson, Yeah, exactly.
The other one I'm interested in on your opinion is
Doug Collins. I mean I like Dug Collins a lot,
but didn't play a lot because of injuries. Was a good,
not great coach good broadcasters. Does that put you into
the Hall of Fame as a contributor, Well, when.

Speaker 3 (17:41):
They have it as it is, right, he's gonna get
it as a contributor, you will get it. Collins.

Speaker 1 (17:49):
First of all, he was a much better player again
than Michael Cooper. You're right, and he was an Olympic.
Did he win an Olympic gold medal?

Speaker 7 (17:57):
No, he was on the same where he was.

Speaker 1 (17:59):
On that team, right, he was on the team that lost.
But as a coach and a contributor and a broadcaster, Chris,
he was really broadcast.

Speaker 3 (18:09):
Go ahead, one more point.

Speaker 7 (18:10):
Let me throw one more name out there for you.
Bob Huggins is in the Basketball Hall of Fame basically
two Final four appearances, no championships.

Speaker 8 (18:18):
You know, he's.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
Interesting because he you just gave his accolades, which isn't incredible,
But you're Huggins does have a legacy that maybe you know,
it's greater than his actual achievements because you was he
had off the court, you know, away from the court.
But I mean, don't you Rob think like Bob Huggins

(18:41):
is viewed as, oh, you know he was Bob Huggins.

Speaker 4 (18:43):
If he's going to be in any Hall of Fame, Chris,
it should be the college basketball Hall of Fame. I
don't know about the basketball Hall, you know what I mean, like.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
Yeah, because his stuff is strictly, you know, congregated to college.

Speaker 3 (18:55):
Yeah, I'm with you, all right, Hey, hey, John, don't
you let in again?

Speaker 1 (19:00):
You lady in Michael Cooper, Rob I mean, you get
you can throw.

Speaker 4 (19:03):
In a ton of guys, but Chris, you know who
they let in? Devins, Del Harris is in as a contributor.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
Del Harris. It's all interesting.

Speaker 1 (19:12):
I mean, Dell was a good coach. He wasn't going right,
I mean really like he wasn't. He didn't distinguish himself
as some fantastic coach.

Speaker 4 (19:23):
Yeah, he just got in if I remember correctly, because
when I saw.

Speaker 3 (19:27):
It, you sure, yeah, he's in the I.

Speaker 4 (19:30):
Thought he got in as the where is it, Lifetime
Chuck Daily?

Speaker 3 (19:36):
I mean he was in exactly. Okay, maybe I'm thinking
of somebody else. Oh no, here it is Chris. Here,
it is Basketball Hall of Fame. Uh he got in.

Speaker 4 (19:47):
I think it was like yeah, like last year yep,
just recently.

Speaker 3 (19:52):
But it says Basketball Hall of Fame. Yep.

Speaker 4 (19:56):
Yep, Chris, he's in the Basketball Hall of Fame and
shrined in twenty twenty two.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
But it does witer down there. That's crazy, all right?

Speaker 4 (20:04):
Uh, Dana in San Antonio, you're on the couple of
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
What's up, Dana?

Speaker 9 (20:10):
Hey, good evening, gentlemen.

Speaker 7 (20:12):
How are you If we're just gonna give contributors into
the Hall of Fame, why don't we go.

Speaker 9 (20:19):
To the next decade and go to the bulls.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
And why isn't Paxson in?

Speaker 9 (20:27):
Look?

Speaker 1 (20:28):
I agree, I mean he made big shots, Steve Kerr.
I mean the coaching, I think probably as a coach,
but yeah, I mean Packson was That's the kind of
what Coop was, you know, like he was a really
good role player. He was known it just I mean, Rob,

(20:53):
you could go, I mean we said it. Andre Godalad,
who I contend is not a Hall of Famer, but.

Speaker 3 (20:58):
He got a he got an MVP. And if you
put in Chris, how is he not going to get right?

Speaker 1 (21:03):
Right? I mean you heck you could even you could
say basically anybody that made even.

Speaker 4 (21:08):
One All Star team, yep, could be let's go to
MA make any Matt in Los Angeles you're on the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 9 (21:17):
What's up, Matt, Hey, guys, I love the show here
in l A. You know what, both on the Fox
local FU Fox Network and uh the Four Letter One.
Whenever they have X Lakers on or socially from the
showtime team, they always ask should Michael Cooper be in
the Hall of Fame? They always say yes. I think

(21:37):
of the constant lobbying by the broadcasting by the X
ray might be.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
I'm shocked they even would. I mean again, if you
if you say you put him in because of his
coaching in the w n B A rop but I guess.
But but this is the problem.

Speaker 4 (21:53):
This is the problem when when when players are involved
we talk about all the time and their front lee
and they like people, you know what I mean, it's
hard for them.

Speaker 3 (22:04):
That's why we've.

Speaker 4 (22:05):
Talked about it before about you gotta take out the
players from voting on this stuff because they just they
can't help it, do you know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (22:18):
Like Chris like, I can't help it. Well, no, I agree.
And one guy we've argued over, I think you've been
with me. He's not a Hall of Famer.

Speaker 3 (22:26):
But under this type of standard, he's gotta be in.
I'm gonna give you a gag.

Speaker 6 (22:33):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (22:34):
He was a shooter and he's in the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
Seven championships, he's not in the Hall of Fame. Yeah,
Robert Orrick, Right, Robert.

Speaker 3 (22:45):
How does that make any sense?

Speaker 4 (22:47):
I mean again, I don't think I'm just saying. I'm
just saying, gotta be in. That's what I'm saying. If
Cooper's in, how in the world is he not in?

Speaker 3 (22:56):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (22:57):
Yeah, that's but that's yeah, that's the and they've created.
I agree they should set up an NBA Hall of Fame.
All right, it's the Eye Couple because of Rob. Trolling
and Rolling with Martin Weiss's next.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 8 (23:19):
That's right, it's trolling and rolling. I'm Martin Wis and this,
in case is the first time you heard this segment,
I'll break it down for you real quick. If Christian
Rob hate the story that I hear that I read
kind of like the way I hated Ryan Finley using
eke for a three to one, a three run margin.
It was six to three. You pat somebody pick to three.

(23:39):
You're hear the troll kind of?

Speaker 3 (23:41):
I got hate this Mowler roller phone. You on my gosh,
well in.

Speaker 1 (23:46):
A toy phone. You're in a walkie talkie or what?

Speaker 4 (23:49):
No, No, he's got a it's a tin cam with
a string that sounds like it.

Speaker 8 (23:54):
All right, Yeah there Martin story that I read. You're
the roll out. Dion Sanders is no stranger to the
transfer portal, but he's about to get that much more familiar. First,
Harold's a cornerback prospect, Cormoni McLain is transferring out, and

(24:16):
now Dion has to replace all of the starters from
the offensive line from last year. Chris rolling or rolling
depending so much on the portal is a brad strategy.

Speaker 3 (24:29):
I'm a roll with that.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
I mean, you obviously need to utilize the portal. It
can be great for you, but you also have to recruit.
And you know, I mean Dion, we know he can recruit,
and he should be able to with his name and
his personality and his fame and all of that. But yeah,
it's interesting that this turn that's been taken there at Colorado.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
But yeah, you have to rely on more than just
a portal. Yeah, I'm rolling with the two.

Speaker 1 (25:06):
Oh man, hey, hey, oh many.

Speaker 3 (25:08):
Yes, thank you a double dose something little bit.

Speaker 4 (25:11):
I don't know it, just Chris, it seems like, uh,
you know, to have so much turnover and change, can
stein me your team?

Speaker 1 (25:20):
Couldn't it?

Speaker 3 (25:20):
Like where's the cool ease of this? Like you need
to build something.

Speaker 4 (25:24):
Guys need to know, you know, especially on an offensive
line and stuff which way.

Speaker 3 (25:29):
Guys are going, you know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (25:31):
And then moves and have a feel for the guy
who's next to them lined up.

Speaker 3 (25:36):
I don't know if I like that much movement.

Speaker 8 (25:39):
No, I agree, rolling and rolling a couple of Fox
Sports Radio route you might like this though. The NBA
may be borrowing something from Major League Baseball. Adam Silver
is considering using the results of the playing tournament as
a playoff, the seating tiebreaker, rolling the end season tournament

(26:02):
impacting the postseason tournament.

Speaker 1 (26:05):
I'm aa trol that, oh Many, Yeah, I don't like
that those gimmicks. I mean, I guess he wants to,
you know, have every team play hard and really go
for it. Look, it is what it is. There's a
freaking mid season tournament. It'll have a little bit of
value to have a little.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
Bit of you know, panache. You know teams.

Speaker 1 (26:28):
We saw the Lakers take it seriously and put the
banner up.

Speaker 3 (26:30):
That's what teams will do.

Speaker 1 (26:32):
But eventually, as we have at this point, we're gonna
forget about it because what really matters is the finals
and the playoffs. And I think Rob to your point,
that could just be little the eighty two games even
more than they already have been, not because of the player,
but just because of low management and all that stuff.

(26:55):
So nah, I don't want to see that have any
impact on the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (27:00):
Yeah, I'm trolling it as well.

Speaker 1 (27:01):
Oh many.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
And Chris, I don't even know if you noticed.

Speaker 4 (27:05):
I was at that All Star Game that ended in
the tie in Milwaukee when Bud Sealey came up with
the idea that if you win the All Star Game,
and I was like, dude, okay.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
Let's don't have an overreaction.

Speaker 4 (27:18):
It was bad that it was a tie, you know
what I mean, Like, it just was bad and fans
left there disappointed, but it didn't make any sense to
do what they did, and we on the Adam silver
stop with the gimmicks.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
Okay, you don't want to do that to a league.

Speaker 1 (27:32):
Nah, it's too much.

Speaker 8 (27:35):
Rolling Spot Sports Radio on the couple now. Speaking of
the postseason tournament, Kawhi Leonards status still up in the
air for the Clippers. Chris Fassard earlier today on TV said,
US not looking good, but we do know that he'll
be a part of Team USA. As news broke today,
he'll be a part. He will be the last member

(27:56):
of the US team. Chris rolling or rolling Kawhi Leonard
playing for America when he has trouble staying healthy for
his professional team.

Speaker 1 (28:08):
I hate to say it because he's deserving, but I'm
trolling it.

Speaker 10 (28:13):
Oh man, I just think, I mean, Rob, Kawhi hasn't
been able to get through a regular season and playoffs
in years now.

Speaker 3 (28:25):
He's gonna be playing in the summer.

Speaker 1 (28:28):
I hate.

Speaker 3 (28:29):
He's obviously deserving.

Speaker 1 (28:30):
I mean, he's an all time great player, but it
doesn't make sense.

Speaker 3 (28:35):
I don't even know why they I guess Rob.

Speaker 1 (28:37):
They may have picked him because he's obviously deserving, and
most players of that ILK have played on Team USA
at some point.

Speaker 3 (28:46):
Maybe, but it just doesn't make it doesn't make a
lot of sense.

Speaker 4 (28:51):
I hear you, but I'm gonna roll with it. Maybe
he Chris, he will get healthy for that.

Speaker 3 (28:58):
I mean, like I hear you, like that.

Speaker 4 (29:01):
The likelihood of it doesn't sound like it's gonna be
something that's going to work out because of his history.

Speaker 3 (29:07):
And I mean.

Speaker 4 (29:08):
He was playing every game this year and here we
come playoffs and he's heard last year it was similar, similar.
It's just it's the most unbelievable thing I've ever seen.
But for some reason, I think he'll be healthy for
the uh, for the Olympics.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
I do.

Speaker 8 (29:25):
Great. Hurt me if I'm wrong. But the last time
Kawhi Leonard was healthy through a regular and postseason was
the year in Toronto when he won the championship.

Speaker 3 (29:32):
Though, uh, I think you're right.

Speaker 4 (29:35):
And even remember when they when they choked to Denver,
he was healthy.

Speaker 3 (29:40):
They choked.

Speaker 1 (29:41):
Well, I don't know how many games he played that
year though, but they were healthy in the playoffs win.
And of course, remember you got the long break, because
that's that in the bubble. In the bubble, that was
a COVID.

Speaker 3 (29:52):
Yeah yeah, all right.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
All right, Martin, great stuff. Check out Martin Weiss every Saturday.
Right here on Fox Worts Radio four to seven pm

that I get the times right?

Speaker 8 (30:07):

eight Pacific.

Speaker 1 (30:15):
I can't believe I got it wrong because I never
missed the Martin v.

Speaker 3 (30:19):
Jashon.

Speaker 8 (30:21):
Oh Christ, come on man, Yes.

Speaker 1 (30:25):
It's all rank you. Martin Weis's great stuff. As always.
If the Bucks lose, I got a place for Yanni
to go. You won't want to miss it. That's next
a couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (30:38):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple

Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (30:50):
Rob.

Speaker 3 (30:51):
That's my partner.

Speaker 1 (30:52):
I'm Chris, and we're live The Odd Couple from the
tire Rag dot Com Studios.

Speaker 8 (30:58):
Rob.

Speaker 1 (30:59):
Yes, don't look now, but we.

Speaker 3 (31:03):
Got us a ball game. Zion Williamson.

Speaker 1 (31:08):
Wait a minute, someone said, was NBA Dad has risen tonight?
Thirty four points? I'm sorry, thirty six points?

Speaker 3 (31:21):
Just two five? No, they're down two.

Speaker 1 (31:26):
He's got thirty six eleven five dimes and is out
playing Lebron and ad combined and it's still five minutes
to go.

Speaker 3 (31:37):
Yes, this is a ball game. This is a ball game.

Speaker 1 (31:43):
Now. Look in fairness, Zion had a few good games
against the Lakers. He had two good ones and two
bad ones. Really so to talk about he couldn't play
against the Lakers. It was overblown. But good for him, man,
good for him. But this is the rob This is
the Zion you want to see regularly.

Speaker 3 (32:04):
But we haven't really been seeing this guy and that's.

Speaker 1 (32:06):
Why we take well but not this is this is
this is another step.

Speaker 3 (32:10):
It's averaging twenty two in the season.

Speaker 4 (32:12):
Is not a play in game, Chris, when you put
up thirty six, that's that's big.

Speaker 3 (32:18):
No, he's he's balling. He's balling, and good for him.

Speaker 1 (32:22):
Uh, we'll see if this and look, a lot of
Lakers fans, may you know, privately, be happy if they lose.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
But remember it's tied Zion Ali.

Speaker 1 (32:37):
You wow from Chris?

Speaker 3 (32:41):
What did I say? Do you remember what I said
in City? Yeah, that's what you say?

Speaker 1 (32:45):
No, no, no, I'm talking about I'm talking about the
NBA dead apologize No.

Speaker 3 (32:52):
No, the didn't you? I said that? A Laker choke
rob G, did I not use that term? Yes, you did.
I said a Laker choke even though they were up
the right, rob I think the Lakers will win still,
but rob G, three and a half minutes to go,
it's a lot of time. Let's keep it real.

Speaker 1 (33:13):
If if they lose this game, they clearly didn't try
to lose, they came to play, they were big. And
if they lose, will a part of you be.

Speaker 3 (33:25):
Happy?

Speaker 6 (33:26):
No?

Speaker 3 (33:28):
Will you be a bit frightened?

Speaker 5 (33:31):
Yes, because they can't be new A Sarah Sacramento for
whatever reason. And as we saw about a week and
a half ago, the Warriors and Steph Curry can get
nuclear at any moment. You don't want to be in
a one and done.

Speaker 3 (33:48):
I still think the Lakers are better, but the one
I would be.

Speaker 5 (33:50):
I think they're better than both of those teams. But
anything can happen in a one game playoff. That's why
the NCAA tournament, it's rare that you have the best
team actually win.

Speaker 1 (33:59):
Ye right, right, Well, I think what's concerning is I mean, look,
you can have bad games, but Lebron and AD have
not been good at all?

Speaker 3 (34:09):
What do they haven't?

Speaker 1 (34:11):
Anthony Davis is five for fifteen, Rob fourteen points.

Speaker 3 (34:16):
Oh, that's terrible.

Speaker 1 (34:17):
Lebron is five for eighteen, one to five from three,
nineteen points and something. Now Lebron, of course, is gonna
fill up the box score. He's got nine assists, nine rebounds.
But the interesting thing because everybody's been talking about Lebron's
three point shooting, and he has been great this year.
I mean, forty one percent, that's remarkable. But Rob and

(34:40):
Rob g you may notice this month he's thirty one
percent from three. We know Lebron is a streaky has
been He didn't seem that way this year so much,
but he has been a streaky three point shooter. And
so he's come back to earth pace. Yeah, he's come
back to earth. But the question is has he now?

(35:01):
He has not been taking a ton of threes lately,
so good for him. But the interesting thing with Zion
doing all this, you know what's coming everything ninety plu
Rob about ninety four percent of his shots are in
the paint.

Speaker 3 (35:20):
Or at least that should be easier to defend.

Speaker 1 (35:23):
Chris or ten feet within ten feet of the basket, donk.

Speaker 3 (35:27):
Where you know they can't.

Speaker 4 (35:28):
He's not gonna pull you out anywhere, right, you know
where to stay.

Speaker 3 (35:32):
I mean, we get to these athletic he's quick, he
can jump.

Speaker 1 (35:35):
But you're right, I mean pack the paint and you know,
I know you got three point shooters. See, that's the
formula to win with Zion at least right now. Push
shooters around him because he can get into the rim
and he's a good passer.

Speaker 3 (35:50):
So he's either gonna finish.

Speaker 1 (35:52):
Because you you can't take your guys off the shooters
and he'll have room to finish, or if you do
pack the paint, he can kick it out to the shooters.

Speaker 3 (36:01):
But this is interesting. I tell you what, rock Woo,
it could be.

Speaker 1 (36:10):
Uh can you imagine I'm not even gonna talk about
because the Lakers still have life. I was gonna say,
can you imagine the playoffs without the Lakers?

Speaker 3 (36:19):
But it could happen.

Speaker 1 (36:20):
It's science. What happened, Rob g You guys are ahead
of me. But Zion's going to the locker room for something.

Speaker 5 (36:27):
Yeah, he looks really upset about something that happened on
the play he just scored on.

Speaker 3 (36:31):
So we'll see.

Speaker 5 (36:32):
We'll keep a monitoring on that.

Speaker 1 (36:35):
I mean, he doesn't look hurt or anything. What the Heck,
that don't even make sense. All right, Well, we got
a barn burner, a great finish, and of course the
nightcap the Warriors and the Kings coming up after Rob
and I about the sign off on this trash talking.

Speaker 3 (36:56):
Tuesday, but you guys don't touch that, Dill.

Speaker 1 (37:00):
Keep it here on Fox Sports Radio, the iHeartRadio app
or Serious XM channel eighty three. However, you may be
listening because Jason Smith and Mike Harmon are next. That
means fire is on the way.
