Speaker 2 (00:24):
Let's get this pun. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
A yay, it is The Odd Couple.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
I'm Chris Bruce Hard alongside my partner Rob Parker, and
we are broadcasting live from the tire rack dot Com studios.
Tire rack dot Com is the way tirebine should be.
In this right here, The Odd Couple is the way
sports talk radio should be. So keep it locked here
for the next three hours on Fox Sports Radio, the

(01:03):
iHeartRadio app or Serious XM Channel eighty three. However, you
may be listening, and we have a wonderful show for
you today.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
A lot going on.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
In the world of sports, of course, and we're gonna
get through all of it. So let me bring in
my partner, Rob Parker. How are you man, I'm good.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
How are you, mister Chris Bachard.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
I'm fantastic, fantastic, Looking forward to a good show, looking
forward to more basketball playing.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
I know you don't watch the play in, but I'm
looking forward to it.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Yeah, I didn't say I didn't watch it. I'm just
saying that it's unnecessary.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
That's all. Well, you got the gold and it doesn't count.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
You know, you got the Golden Girls Marathon. I figured
you know you might be checking that out.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
I'm always checking that out.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
But it won't stop me from a little especially when
we see the Warriors.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Go down in flames. That's a good night. They have
gone down in flames and not surprisingly either.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Really well, the one and done, I mean anything happened, no, no, no,
But I'm just saying against against you, against the Kings.
The Kings are beating them. They didn't beat them in
game seven last year, but they've been two and two.
They evenly matched two and two this year against them.
But I'm saying, like they beat them in seven games
last night. It is a good matchup. It's a good matchup.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
But all right, let's introduce the Acuple crew and get
it started. The super producer Rob g is out in
his place, our man Shane Mowingard doing this thing.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
You just heard her moments ago.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
On the updates, Mancy Belanos, the man with the plan of.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Social Media, and Elijah Sebunya and on the ones and
twos none other. Then why are you bugging Mary? I'm
doing great. We give Harry majorly. Alex doesn't even have

(03:02):
an intro like that. It's just that's what it is
when you're blessed to have your favorite, you know.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
But you know what, but Mary didn't even know that
song at first, right, and now we had.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Actually I think.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
It was Coveno and Rich like the first time I
met them, they sang that to me.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
And then you guys, right after Wow, steal in our thunder.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
You know, that's why I text Rich before. That's where
he got it from, you know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Before?

Speaker 3 (03:29):
All right, Well, let's get it going, ribe and tonight
get day two of this playing tournament, and now we've
got the Eastern Conference. Last night you had the Lakers
take out the New Orleans Pelicans in a really good game,
exciting game, great performance by Zion Williamson before.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
He got hurt, and we'll talk about that. But that
was fun.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
And then, as you said, the Kings took out the
Warriors and may have ended that dynasty.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
Altogether. We'll talk about that later as well, but.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Tonight Rob starting just in a few moments the Philadelphia
seventy six ers hosting the Miami Heat, and obviously the
storylines here. You know, Philadelphia was looking Rob playing as
well as any team in the league win their league
MVP Joe LMB Rob, he was. He was on a

(04:24):
different level that he was last year when he won
the MVP. No.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
I agree, he was off to a great start, and
I agree that despite what the Joker had done Chris
in the postseason, people may be feeling like he was
short changed, and he came through.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
I think coming into the season.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
I think MB that made up ground to at least
put him on even par not behind with his play.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
I totally agree with you.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
Yeah, I mean, obviously it doesn't matter now, but I
think at the moment, the point he went down after
thirty SOMEEID games, he was the MVP. You know, I
don't know what the other voters thought, but in my book,
he was them. He was right there. I'll say that, Yup,
he did get hurt. He's out for two and a
half months. He's back, though, and back to averaging thirty points.

(05:20):
Rob and so Philadelphia could not even play five hundred
basketball without him. They fell all the way from second
to seventh, and they will face the Miami Heat. Miami,
it's almost like they don't I know, their culture. Spolstra,
Eric Spolster and Pat Rilly them care about the regular season.

(05:43):
But it's almost robbed, like Jimmy Butler and those guys
don't I mean because they I mean their content coming
in eighth and you know, just barely making the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
And last year, of course they.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
Did that and even lost the first playing game and
still went all the way to the NBA Finals, And
so Heat culture has really become a mythical thing.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
And so that's what you have tonight.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
I think Rob in the Heat, you've got the mentally
tougher team. In Philadelphia, you've got the more talented team,
and it's going to be interesting to see which one prevails.
Jimmy Butler, you know, he's got a little extra grind
with the Sixers. I don't know if he still holds it,
but remember they had him, Rob. I'm telling you, if

(06:29):
they had kept Jimmy Butler and this sounds crazy right
now instead of Ben Simmons, and I'll be honest at
the time, I was like pretty much everybody else.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
I mean, I love.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
Jimmy Butler, but come on, Ben Simmons is the next
one of the next dudes, so you have to keep him,
and he's a point guard with MB the center like
it turned out. You know, Ben Simmons obviously has his
career rob he after this contract.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
I don't know that he'll even have a career.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
I think it's very likely he's out of the NBA
once this contract is over. And so you know, Jimmy
Butler puts it on them when they see the Sixers.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
But the question I want to ask you, if you
want to say who you think is going to win,
I'm gonna go with Philly, but I'm I don't have
a great feel for it because, as I said, I
think Miami is tougher. Is that heat culture gonna really
kick in? Or is inbid and mbid right, He's a bump,

(07:33):
He's a He's an awkward bump or box out or
or mix up under the basket away from being hurt.
I mean, I'm serious. I don't hope that on him
for sure, but he's a a bad move away from

(07:53):
either being out all together or being.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
About seventy percent.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
And that's the problem with Phil and that's why it's
hard to bank on them in any way. But who
you what first thing I want to know is what
do you think about tonight's game? And then I want
to talk about if you're the New York Knicks and
you're a New Yorker native, who should they be wanting
to see because they see the winner? And who should

(08:20):
they be pulling forward to win if they, you know,
to play in the first round.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
But first I'm gonna say, the problem with the EMBD
thing in Philly, Chris and buying all the way in
is that, unfortunately and bid turns to.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
Google in the postseason. We've so you think it's do you?
I feel like we're gonna find out.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
Is it a mental block ally James Harden or is
it he's always worn down?

Speaker 2 (08:46):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (08:47):
I get that, but I don't know great players at
some point, you know what I mean, everybody that same.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Schedule, he definitely doesn't get it done.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
Yeah, and he hasn't. And we've seen him and his
average drop what eight ten points.

Speaker 2 (08:59):
Last year around nine almost ten points.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
That's what I'm saying that's a significant It ain't like
you're off a couple points or something that's significant, and
your team can't afford to give up ten points in
the postseason from what they're used to getting from you.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Chris.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
So I have to wait to see where what Embiid's
doing where he is. And that's a good question about
the Knicks. Yeah, well, I don't know. I don't know
if there's a right answer. I mean, I really don't.
You would just think Embiid because that they would rather

(09:36):
see Embiid. No, no, no, that they wouldn't oh.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
Because of Embiid. And I think.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
I don't have the numbers in front of me, but
I think he's done well against the Knicks and he's
seen you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
Well, here here's the numbers of their tell okay they
I mean, look, the Knicks rode three and one against Philly.
Now I think only one of those was with Embiid,
but they blasted Philly with Embiid. They beat him one
twenty eight to ninety two with Embiid and ty Reese
maxi Plane And that's surprising to me. And then blew

(10:12):
them out, you know, another time, and I think they
won the other one maybe by double figures as well.
Miami against Miami, the Knicks are two and one. But again,
are you seeing a different Miami?

Speaker 2 (10:25):
I hear you.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
I think that's a fair answer. Is you don't know
if there's a right answer. Either one's gonna be.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
Tough, That's what That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
I just I can't look at one and go, oh,
without question, it's Miami that the Knicks can roll over,
and I can't say that about Philadelphia. So neither one
and this is a new step. They man handled the
Calves last year. They were just more physical. Chris pushed
him around. They got the Calves got chumped last year

(10:55):
by the Knicks. I know they don't have Julius Randall.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
They're not chumping one of these two teams. No, that's
what I'm saying. It's a little different, right it.

Speaker 5 (11:05):
Rob.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
It's interesting because look, congrats to the Knicks getting the
second seed. Great accomplishment, especially with Julius Randall missing a
chunk of the season. But the reward, right, this is
not your typical seven I mean, my gosh, you know,
And to be honest, Rob, Boston after a great year,
and I think they'll win the first round, but still

(11:27):
after a great year at the number one seed, win
sixty four games, by far the best record in the league.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
Their reward could be Philly with.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
Joseph with Joe LMB and if it's Miami, that ain't
fun either.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
Miami beat him last year in the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (11:45):
It's funny that those two teams are down there, Chris
in that spot. And Miami's been to the championship twice
in the last what five years or the four years.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
Well since the bubble and then last year, so I
think that's the last five five years, the fifth Yeah,
but this is the fifth.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Year, right, because the bubble was like twenty twenty.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
Yeah, yeah, the ball twenty four y. Yeah, in the
last four or five years. You get my point. They're
not chopped Liver.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
It's the same team essentially, yeah, with Bam and Jimmy
Butler as the corer.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
I mean, I feel look last year, the Heat didn't
play well, you know, didn't shoot the three well in
the regular season, didn't even play well in the play
and lost the first game. Had some trouble. I think
it was with Atlanta in the you know, do or
die game. I mean and then the playoffs started and
they played great and they took out Milwaukee and ultimately

(12:42):
took out Boston. And so I look the Knicks. I
think Miami to some degree, to some degree, it will
be like looking in the mirror. Very well coached team,
plays very hard, probably succeed at a higher level than
its talent would suggest it should, and just gonna knock down,

(13:07):
dragout war mentally and physically.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
That's what they're gonna get with Miami.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
With Philly, I mean, it's all on nbat like and Robie,
he could.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
Miss a game. You just don't know. I mean, you
you have no idea. The dude came back and played
I think eight games and got hurt.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
Now he you know, he to his credit, you know
he came back from that game and played.

Speaker 2 (13:33):
And finished it out.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
But still and it's not even about him just missing
the game, rob It's about him just not being one
hundred percent while he's playing. That's you have no I
have no idea what I'm gonna see from them, But
I'll say this, Tyree's Maxie is a handful, He's played great.
And then Kelly Oubra and Tobias Hair is like Philly

(13:54):
has the most talent of the three teams, but Miami
is gonna have have the heart and the hustle and
the toughness that will be tough to deal with. So
I'm picking Philly tonight. That means Philly would meet the
Knicks and Miami with meet Boston, and even both of

(14:15):
those series will be tough, hard fought series. I think
Boston will beat them. I don't even think it'll go seven.
But I still think Miami's just earned the respect where
you gotta put the respect on their name. So let's
start out to the listeners. Rob eight seven seven ninety
nine on Fox Simple question if you're the Knicks, Simple question,
but hard to answer it. Who should the Knicks be

(14:38):
pulling for to win this game? Or really who should
they want to meet in the first round of the playoffs?
And they will meet the winner of Miami Philly. That's
about to start. Moment in Moments your thoughts eight seven

Studios eight.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
Seven seven ninety nine on Fox, you'll turn the way in.

Speaker 3 (16:03):
Who should the Knicks want Philly or Miami in the
first round?

Speaker 2 (16:07):
Your thoughts?

Speaker 1 (16:08):
All right, let's kick it off with uh dre Andre
and Massachusetts. You're on the Odd Couple, Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 7 (16:16):
How you doing? Thanks for taking the call. First of all,
must be clear, it doesn't matter who my New York
Knicks under the leadership of Tom Thiberdau getting the first round.

Speaker 8 (16:25):
They're getting the dum your.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
New York Knicks all of a sudden, huh.

Speaker 7 (16:29):
No, no, no, Tom Thibodau. Tom Thibberdau has been my coach
from day one, the Pride of Salem State. I shut
out to Tibbs and was.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
That where you went?

Speaker 7 (16:37):
And so when they made the right decision to bring
him in, my allegiance went from Minnesota to the New
York Knicks and this team and he's built it out.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
Oh you're a big fan, Okay?

Speaker 8 (16:47):
That that that's my guy. You know.

Speaker 7 (16:48):
He makes people show up to work and then we
get results. Now we want no parts of the Miami
Heat in the first round.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
You you started off talking like Muhammad Ali don't matter
and don't now all of a sudden you're cowering at
the colors red and black.

Speaker 7 (17:06):
This Miami Heat team is better than the squad that
went to the finals. They have a healthy Tyler Hero,
they added Terry Rosier, they have himI Bass, They're dangerous.

Speaker 8 (17:17):
Nicks will get.

Speaker 7 (17:17):
Them in seven. But I would much rather a Philadelphia
seventy sixteenth six erteen with no continuity and Joel Embiid
who just rolled out of bed and stepped onto the
court to the Miami Heat team.

Speaker 8 (17:27):
That dangerous.

Speaker 7 (17:28):
Forget the seeding with the Spostra and Riley culture, that
Heat teams, They're gonna push somebody to seven, either the
Knicks or the Celtics. Let the Celtics have those problems,
will take Philadelphia.

Speaker 8 (17:37):
They're taking the call.

Speaker 2 (17:38):
All right, Dre, appreciate it. Q Q and Phoenix. You're
in the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 8 (17:45):
What's up, c Man, what's happening? What's happening? Rab Parker.

Speaker 4 (17:51):
I don't know what you were drinking, but you said
in the beginning of the show that the end game
don't count. Now, if the which is my team I'm
from from Chicago, if the Bulls win, they're in their
their game and then go to the finals.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
Wait what no, no, no, no, wait wait wait for you.

Speaker 3 (18:13):
You got a better way get to the finals, right
and number two you miss on is not walking through
that door and you misunderstood what no, no, no, no, hold.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
On, hold on, We're gonna give your chances. Way dar
hang up on him.

Speaker 1 (18:34):
But no, no, no, no, no, come on, We're trying to
let you on. But we got to talk and I
think he misunderstood Chris when I said it didn't count.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
You know what I meant that that.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
There's no being facetious exactly. I wasn't talking about. Of
course they make it, come on talking about I.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
Mean, but seriously, look, callers, we want to hear obviously,
we're wanted a few shows now really.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
That half callers, we want to hear from you.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
But if we start talking and we try to respond
to something you said, it's our show, right, don't let
us all for us, let us talk. We tell them
keep you on so you can respond, But don't don't.
It's not your show.

Speaker 2 (19:16):
Don't don't talk up call up talking over us and
not letting us say anything. No doubt.

Speaker 1 (19:20):
Mike in Savannah, you're in the couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
What's up, Mike.

Speaker 5 (19:26):
I'm doing well. Thanks for taking my call, and I
hate to lose some of my valuable time on here,
but I mister Parker, an apology. The last time I
called in, I was so flabbergasted getting to speak to
one of my idols, Chris pers Chard, because I'm an
NBA junkie. I didn't mean it like I didn't care
about you, and I wanted to apologize. I looked up
your credentials and their second to none.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
You're well, that was nice.

Speaker 3 (19:48):
I know that was very I'm glad you got that
check I sent you rise my boy.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
I didn't want him feeling bad.

Speaker 5 (19:55):
I mean, I mean, I'm just puck with a basketball fan,
and I love Christopurys Chard is my change even being
on TV and and and I love it in farst
to Phillity Miami thing. I kind of agree with what
Chris had the day on TV. I feel like Miami's
you know, Cinderella is over. I mean, they've been incredible.
Jimmy Butler is awesome, but I just don't think and
Be's gonna keep playing like that in the emergency of
the emergency of time, AXI I think I think it's Philly.

(20:17):
I really do.

Speaker 8 (20:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (20:19):
I mean, look, it's really no wrong answer right now,
because we don't know. I don't think Miami's gonna capture
that magic again. But in fairness, I didn't think it
last year, and they obviously did, so we just got
to kind of wait and see.

Speaker 8 (20:34):
Right now.

Speaker 5 (20:34):
One last thing, if I said the last time I
talked to you, I told you, I said, Chris but
this time is Chris and Rob. If you're ever anywhere
in ur Savannah, if I could leave my information, I
would love to buy y'all stake till work for lunch.
It would be an honor man.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
My brother used to live.

Speaker 3 (20:50):
That's what Rob will probably uh make a special trip
there when when the when the company pays he's v
l ais, I know, and when.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
Get the numbers, get his information. Shay, We definitely right.

Speaker 5 (21:07):
I love it. So both of you're awesome. Rob, I
love you. I'm sorry.

Speaker 8 (21:11):
I didn't mean to this you that.

Speaker 5 (21:13):
It wasn't meant that way.

Speaker 8 (21:14):
I just.

Speaker 2 (21:16):
I appreciate it. Yes, I understand, Thank you. Thank you.

Speaker 1 (21:20):
Alan in South Carolina. Alan, you're on the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, buddy, guys.

Speaker 9 (21:26):
I feel like I'm at an AA meeting. I got
we got people laughing, we got people all said they
want to feels a little crazy. I don't wish anything
bad about on Joe ell embiid, but I don't think
he finishes the game. I I honestly don't even game.

Speaker 2 (21:44):
I mean, I can't be mad at you. I can't
be mad at you. Every time he falls. You worry.

Speaker 9 (21:49):
Yeah, he's either he's I don't know what it is.
There's some time and this gets me and I'm sure
you guys don't discuss it later. These guys that are
injured all the time, why are they on the ollip.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
That's an interesting.

Speaker 9 (22:02):
Yeah, Anthony Davis. That gets me so frustrated that they
left certain people off, that these guys don't play during
the year, and now to get them medal, they're gonna
they're gonna come out and they're gonna compete against other countries.
There's something about that that these guys don't want to
compete or play during the year. And I'm sure I'll
hear it later. And I love this show, you know what.

Speaker 2 (22:22):
And that's a great column. Yeah, we may look at
it right now.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
Chris is gonna write that column or that might be
on Doug god Leaves show tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
I'm just saying, and in fairness, I'll say this, you know,
I'm not I don't think Embeid Kawhi.

Speaker 2 (22:37):
Now maybe in the past you could say that about Kawhi.

Speaker 3 (22:40):
Maybe I'm not positive, but this year, I think the
last couple of years, Rob he's tried to play and
his body may betray him. I think it's similar with
embiid Anthony David. You know, there are guys that do
too much load management. But a lot of these guys,
Rob Anthony Davis and the Light.

Speaker 2 (22:59):
I don't think they don't want.

Speaker 3 (23:01):
To play, but their bodies they just can't seem to
stay healthy and that could be a problem for Team USA,
There's no question about it. We got Leon friend of
the Show, the Great actor coming up, huge Knicks fan.

Speaker 2 (23:14):
But first Manzil with the update Monzi.

Speaker 10 (23:16):
Fellas Monty, Mom, how are we going?

Speaker 1 (23:20):
I show me up Dodger Stadium this morning having breakfast.

Speaker 2 (23:23):
I saw that I was not there. I was there yesterday.
I was not there, but I saw your picture. I
was like, oh, look, you're wrong on bright and early
on the.

Speaker 3 (23:30):
Dodger dogeah Dodger Dog.

Speaker 2 (23:34):
Yeah it was a twelve to ten star. Yeah, so
I was out there early. I was there at nine
this morning. Oh yeah.

Speaker 10 (23:42):
Some of the tour guides where they're at like seven
forty five in the morning to prepare for tours.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
I was like, no, thank you, not today.

Speaker 10 (23:49):
I also was here, so you know, I don't want
to stretch myself too thin and I'll be on my
best game for you guys. I just heard Chris say
that he thinks there's a chance I can make it
to the NBA Finals, and I think you're right, Chris.
I know it's not one hundred percent, but I think
I can get there as well.

Speaker 2 (24:02):
We got a chance. That is that is true? That
one is true? All right? Game between he and Philly, Philly.

Speaker 10 (24:11):
I was gonna say the Phillies, but the seventy six
ers officially underway six minutes to go in the first
quarter of Philadelphia on top of Miami twelve to six,
plenty of game to go following this one. It's gonna
be that matchup between the nine and ten seeds as
the Hawks take on the Bulls. The Pelicans haverol down
Zion Williamson for the game on Friday, also a play
in game as they take on the Kings. He suffered

(24:32):
this hamstring injury last night against the Lakers. Other NBA news,
The Athletic reports that Warriors guard Chris Paul says he's
not retiring this offseason, saying this isn't it that he
knows for sure. In the NFL, ESPN just reported that
Ravens running back former Ravens running back JK. Dobbins plans
to sign a one year contract with the Chargers. Now
in Major League Baseball. Mike Troutt has homeward for the Angels.

(24:54):
He now has eight on the year, but they are
tied with the Rays at win apiece bottom of the
third inning. The Philly are beating the Rockies five to
one bottom of the fifth. The White Sox up on
the Royals in game two of their double header. It's
two to one bottom of the eighth, and the Dodgers
were shut out at home today by the Nationals to zero.
Back to you guys, all right, thank you, yeah, yeah, yeah,

(25:17):
we got live.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
From the tire rack dot Com Studios.

Speaker 3 (25:20):
Our next guest famous actor, singer, producer. I don't think
he's here yet, but he will be here momentarily. He's
been dying to get on. Huge Knicks fan and actually
was a was a nice ball player back in the day.
You remember Rob from the movie Above the Rim. Yes,

(25:40):
and you could see he could play, you know, you
could at one time. It wasn't acting.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
Sometimes people can go like, okay on natural, you know
what I mean, Like they just don't natural.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
It's true, it's true.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
So he wants to talk Nicks, we can leave the
lines open until we get him eight seven seven on Fox.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
If anybody wants to weigh in, Okay, we do have him.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
I just gave you mad love man talked about how
good you used to be in basketball and all that.

Speaker 2 (26:09):
What's up?

Speaker 8 (26:09):
Leonon Leon Yo, yost Hold up, don't even try to
button me up right now. I'm so happy to talk
to you all right now, you' even know.

Speaker 2 (26:22):
What I was doing.

Speaker 8 (26:24):
I was trying to pump the clip of Chris talking
about Jalien Brunton. That's the answer.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
What well, let's start there. I did not have ja.

Speaker 3 (26:38):
Look, I got Jaylen Brunton on my second team All NBA,
and I did not have him on my top five
MVP ballot.

Speaker 2 (26:46):
But look I.

Speaker 3 (26:48):
Had Luca number one, donche Or Jokis number two, Shay Gilgers,
Alexander three, Jason Tatum four, Joannis five.

Speaker 2 (26:59):
I assume you're cool with that. If not, who you
taking off to put Brunton on?

Speaker 8 (27:04):
No, no, no, I'm noticed. I'm not putting Brunching on,
especially first three. There's no way those guys are deserving
of m VP. I think actually the joker is probably
gonna win. It is serving his team. His team should
have been in first place. Who didn't get silly and
lose his game at the last minute. So yeah, I mean,

(27:24):
I'm not gonna do that, but I can say this much.
There is no one, including the Joker, that is playing
better than Jalen Brunton in the last third of season.

Speaker 3 (27:36):
Look, he's been great. I mean I want to give
him love. I got no you know, he is and
and self made, you know what I mean. I mean,
obviously he's got talent, but you know, two years of Villanova,
nobody expected this, so good for him. We Rob and
I were just talking about. So you you probably watching
Philly Miami? The winner is who the Knicks.

Speaker 8 (27:57):
Unfortunately I'm not watching anything because I'm in London.

Speaker 2 (28:00):
Oh in London. Oh wow?

Speaker 8 (28:02):
All right in a movie here.

Speaker 3 (28:05):
You before you go, tell us what you're working on
your music? I know you do music as well, so
tell us where people can see you.

Speaker 2 (28:12):
But who would who do you want? Do you want
Philly or do you want Miami? A round one?

Speaker 8 (28:18):
Well, I would prefer Miami because I don't think Miami
has been playing that well. And you know, Philly. You
got to realize Philly was right up there when they
had Joel in deed, but I think they went the
three spot, even tooling with the two spot at it
at one point. So of course you know with joelan
b that, you know, they were different teams. But in reality,

(28:41):
it's I mean, there's so many old New York robberies
that it's just fantastic. Miami of course, and Pat Ryan
and everything. That's always a big robbery. Of course, Philadelphia
right down the Turnpike. You know, I might catch you
at a game, you know what I'm saying. Yeah, But
at the end of the day, man, we want Boston

(29:02):
because that's that's that's what all New Yorkers want.

Speaker 2 (29:05):
That don't mean y'all get to the conference finals.

Speaker 1 (29:08):
But let me let me ask you this, and Leon,
here is the thing, and I get it. You should
be excited Nick fans. I mean, you know, Knicks haven't
won a championship since Moby Dick was a guppy. It's
been a long time. But I mean no, it's just
it's just it is what it is. But my thing,
will you be satisfied and just getting to the second round, like,

(29:31):
is that where this team has come? Where where anything
less than the conference finals. It would you would be
very disappointed because last year they made it to the
second round.

Speaker 2 (29:42):
They beat the Calves.

Speaker 1 (29:43):
We know that, don't They have to do more with
the way that they've played this year other than just
getting to the second round.

Speaker 8 (29:51):
Last year they were a turnover away from a game
seven in the second round. They were the second round
before listen, second round ain't this year.

Speaker 2 (30:02):
That's what I'm saying. Chrisis shouldn't. Well, if you were.

Speaker 8 (30:05):
Second seed, the second round should never cut it. That's
a disappointment if you were a second seed.

Speaker 3 (30:09):
So if you play Milwaukee in the second round, which
is who you know, maybe it would be it could
be Indiana are like, you definitely are gonna be ticked
off with a loss. But if Milwaukee starts playing well
and you see them, I mean, I would think you
could live with a loss to Milwaukee if it's a tough.

Speaker 8 (30:31):
Hard fault one not without no way.

Speaker 3 (30:34):
Well, no, I'm assuming I don't think they get to
sit second round without Giannis.

Speaker 8 (30:39):
Yeah. I don't think so either. I think they're done.
To be honest with you, and it'd be perfectly honest
with you. They have not been good because doctor over
the team. I mean, I don't think even five hundred.

Speaker 3 (30:52):
No, they're seventeen and nineteen under Die Rob And I said.

Speaker 8 (30:56):
It, you know, and it was like, they're not playing well.
And the problem is I'm gonna tell you what the
problem is with Milwaukee is their front office. I don't
know what they think. One thing, they shouldn't have fired
the championship coach. You win a championship, who you got
at least two years? You can at least two years
you win a championship, and you got a good coach.

Speaker 2 (31:15):
He was good in Atlanta, you know what I mean.

Speaker 8 (31:18):
He's a good coach. But then wait a second, they're
doing well, they challenging Boston and they fire their coach. Now,
why would they do that? Now? Someone said, because the Jiannis. Well,
if you letting Giannis run your team, you a horrible
front office.

Speaker 1 (31:32):
Now you gotta assume that it is Giannis, because I
don't think they would make that move.

Speaker 2 (31:36):
It just sit.

Speaker 3 (31:38):
At that time, they were worried about him possibly leaving
too eventually, so that was a big part.

Speaker 8 (31:46):
It doesn't make it there. I don't care what you say.
Giannis is an incredible player. As a matter of fact,
I would even go to say he's usually the most
dominant player on the floor when he's on the floor,
but he is far from a GM. You pay him
handsomely to play basketball, to run your team.

Speaker 2 (32:01):
I feel that. I feel that.

Speaker 3 (32:03):
Let me ask you this, the Knicks, I think you
you understand, you know the game. Not really a championship
team could get to the conference finals.

Speaker 2 (32:13):
I mean, you know, anything can happen with every Wait.

Speaker 8 (32:16):
Wait, Hall of Thay, can we let let's.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
Just championship team?

Speaker 8 (32:20):
No no, no, no, no no no, let's talking about
something else for a second. Nick, I'm talking Nicks though. Okay,
just about seven coaches right now that are deserving of
Coach of the Year, would you not say that?

Speaker 2 (32:32):
Yes?

Speaker 8 (32:33):
Okay, but now all of those coaches who has been
challenged more than ten He lost an All Pro player
twenty five and twelve. Okay, we played the last third
of season without four starters.

Speaker 2 (32:51):
Well, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (32:53):
My vote my vote when Mark from that's the serious
number one seed ever.

Speaker 2 (33:02):
I mean, I mean what went through.

Speaker 8 (33:07):
What I'm saying is this, he's he's more than deserving,
but he played with his full team all season.

Speaker 3 (33:14):
Yeah, but they're like all of them were twenty five
and under I mean that youth, and they only won
forty games a year ago.

Speaker 8 (33:22):
Like you don't have, you don't have to explain to
me why he deserves it because.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
He's Tims has done a great job he had.

Speaker 8 (33:32):
I will say this though, this team and still pulls
it off.

Speaker 3 (33:37):
Well, that's what Timms does, which is one reason you
need to be concerned about the playoffs because tims history
has been he's one of those coaches that pushes his team.

Speaker 2 (33:51):
They play at playoff.

Speaker 3 (33:53):
Level intensity all year, all year, and then come playoff time,
they don't have an extra gear that the more talented
teams have and that's why his teams have not.

Speaker 2 (34:04):
Lived up to their record when it comes to the playoffs.

Speaker 8 (34:07):
And no, and also one of the reasons why he
has his players out.

Speaker 2 (34:11):
Yeah, I mean, you're talking about them being hurt.

Speaker 8 (34:14):
Maybe, but the one thing I have to say is this,
and you know this more than anything. Momentum is a
big thing going in the playoffs. The Knicks are playing
their bestball now.

Speaker 2 (34:26):
They are they are.

Speaker 3 (34:27):
Look if they beat Philly and even Miami because you
just gotta respect them, then that's gonna be impressive. And
then if they get Indiana, which I think is possible, Robin,
I actually think they could beat the Bucks. Then they
you definitely got to feel like you beat in Indiana,
and then you take your chances in the conference finals,
presumably against Boston.

Speaker 2 (34:48):
Let me ask you this, if they get beaten the.

Speaker 3 (34:50):
First in the in the conference finals by Boston, what
do you think they need to really become like a
full fledged championship content?

Speaker 2 (35:02):
We got about thirty seconds. I'm sorry, yeah.

Speaker 8 (35:06):
What what they need are uh more all star type pieces.
They don't need that superstar, they need that other all
star type caliber player that that when you when you
look at this team, you're like, wow, Okay, maybe they
may have got the best player on the floor, but man,
they got five dudes. I don't want to mess with no.

Speaker 3 (35:28):
Look, that's how Detroit did it, yea, chrisch Robs.

Speaker 2 (35:33):
You know favorite team two thousand and four Pistons. What
do you mean my favorite team?

Speaker 8 (35:38):
Leon?

Speaker 2 (35:38):
He always trying to say I have Pom Pom series.
I did not. I respected that team black and white
shoes with bells on them. I respected that team. That
was an impressive team. Come on, Leon, the two thousand
and four pistons, you know.

Speaker 3 (35:53):
Leon, Before you go, man, tell us what you got
going on where people can check you out.

Speaker 8 (35:58):
Oh man, I'm on the season six of The Shy,
which debut on Oh.

Speaker 3 (36:05):
So when did you because I was watching that earlier,
the early season.

Speaker 2 (36:08):
So when did you join that on part two?

Speaker 8 (36:11):
Whether you know there was a hiatus because you know,
to strike and everything. Okay, all right, cool to play
with them for a little bit. And then I got
this movie called The Rhythm of the Blues. I played
a great booze for artists which said avenue premiere at
Lincoln Center on May eleventh at the New York African
Film Festival. And I'm here in London right now doing

(36:34):
a Christmas comedy.

Speaker 2 (36:36):
All right? Is it raining in London? That's all I
need to know.

Speaker 8 (36:40):
Would you say?

Speaker 2 (36:41):
Is it raining in London?

Speaker 3 (36:43):
Man?

Speaker 8 (36:43):
Please? This weather is ridiculous, tunny one second rainier New
York time.

Speaker 3 (36:52):
Hey man, look when we call you, when I text
you to come on after the Knicks go down in
the first round, don't be don't be a poind in
my Texas?

Speaker 8 (37:02):
Something is there any way to start a good friendship?
I know?

Speaker 2 (37:06):
Right there?

Speaker 7 (37:06):
You go?

Speaker 9 (37:07):
Right?

Speaker 8 (37:10):
All right? Right?

Speaker 2 (37:12):
Man to soon Man, good luck.

Speaker 8 (37:14):
With everything, Man to pleasure to talk to you guys, Man,
have fun, Peace.

Speaker 2 (37:50):
It's time y'allf of Shekel City.

Speaker 1 (37:52):
All right, here we go Chris shekel City picked earlier
and posted on social So I don't want people to
think that I'm trying to get slick and picking games
after the fact. But anyway, best bet was the seventy
six Ers minus five and a half hosting the Heat
in Philadelphia.

Speaker 2 (38:12):
Also, I have the Hawks plus three.

Speaker 1 (38:14):
And a half Chris in Chicago against the Bulls. And
finally I have the Guardians plus one and a half.
They're in Boston taking on the Red Sox. So I
have the Guardians plus one and a half runs the
Hawks plus.

Speaker 2 (38:30):
Three and a half points.

Speaker 1 (38:31):
Chris and the seventy six ers minus five and a
half points against the heat. And remember, I'm not telling
you who to bet on. I'm telling you who I
bet on.

Speaker 3 (38:43):
All right, Rob, Yesterday I believe it was Whitey Herzog
Hall of.

Speaker 2 (38:47):
Fame player and manager died. And you want to say something, Yeah,
Whitey herds On Chris You remember him, do you?

Speaker 8 (38:54):
Or no?

Speaker 5 (38:55):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (38:55):
Yeah, I remember.

Speaker 1 (38:56):
Whitey herds had the greatest nickname, the White Rat. That
was his nickname. Is his real name, Whitey.

Speaker 3 (39:03):
I mean I saw what I always knew him ass,
but that his real name, No, I forgot.

Speaker 2 (39:09):
I looked at it like when you look him up
on Oh, Durrel, Durrel, Yeah, Durrel.

Speaker 1 (39:15):
He had like blondish Chris Hare, really light and it
was like a buzz cut.

Speaker 2 (39:21):
And they so they called him the White Rat. But
this is what I want to say about him.

Speaker 1 (39:26):
I always considered him the best manager I ever saw,
Chris because he did stuff that was innovative. And let
me tell you the one that always stood out to
me as a young guy watching baseball. He had this
is before you couldn't burn pictures, you know, like bringing
him in for relief.

Speaker 2 (39:47):
So Whitey heards all.

Speaker 1 (39:49):
Chris brought in two relievers, a right hander and a
left hander. He put the right hander in right field
and the left hander on the mouth, and then when
they switched, you know, when the next batter came up,
he would bring the right fielder, who was a pitcher,
into the game and sending the left hander back out

(40:13):
to right field. Do you get what I'm saying?

Speaker 2 (40:16):
Can you do that? Yes? Okay, yes, okay.

Speaker 1 (40:20):
Because they were in the game, you could change ards
this show if.

Speaker 3 (40:22):
You just wanted to, like now now nowadays, if you
if you wanted to bring in your left fielder to pitch.

Speaker 2 (40:29):
Now, I think you'd have to picture a certain amount
of batters. You couldn't do it. Back then. It was
for the lineup. Righty, he brought the right.

Speaker 1 (40:36):
Hander in left he brought the left hander in. And
I remember Davey Johnson doing the same exact thing. He
was the manager of the Mets, and he point blank said,
I saw Whitey do it. I thought that was genius
and gave him credit.

Speaker 3 (40:52):
Well, and now, of course that that's become I mean,
you know, getting your pictures for the batters, you know,
has become kind I was gonna ask you why you
say he's the best ever.

Speaker 2 (41:02):
I mean because he won one World Series. But yeah,
but he.

Speaker 1 (41:05):
Was always in the mix with the Cardinals in Kansas City.

Speaker 2 (41:08):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (41:09):
I just thought he was a really good manager at
making moves Chris Wood. Managers really had to manage the game.

Speaker 2 (41:15):
I thought he was the best. That's that's fair. The
White Riot is gone.

Speaker 3 (41:19):
Yeah, we got to help rest in peace, White Rat.
We got two hours left, keep it locked. A couple
