Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
We welcome you to Draft night. The Chicago Bears are
on the clock for the first time in seventy seven years.
That franchise will make the number one overall pick. Jay
Glazer's right next to me and he just got off
the phone and he's busy to This is going to
be the theme tonight. So Jay, can I fire off
the first question to you right off the bat?

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Hey, first of all, what's happening?

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Happy early marriage?

Speaker 3 (00:31):
Let's go, let's go very much. I'm so shiit.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
What is the news here at eight oh one Eastern,
five oh one Pacific that you think is going to
start shaking some things up?

Speaker 4 (00:40):
You know, it's look, everybody's just call him figure out. Also, Hey,
where do you think is going? Do we need to
move here? Can we move there? This is who we like?
What are you hearing? Here's the things? Here's what I
already know. There'll be more offensive lineman taking this first
round I think than ever before. Oh wow, there'll be
six quarterbacks taken in the first half of the draft.
Oh wow, there after the first three receivers. You have

(01:03):
obviously neighbors are doing today. Harrison and they're mixed on
every board of who's won two and three, But after
those three guys, everybody's all over the place. There is
no consensus for a four for five, for six, but
there's a lot of receivers there, and the same with
the corners. There's really no consensus there who the top
one is. I think it's Quinn and Mitchell from Toledo,
but also guys. The craziest part of this is you

(01:24):
normally have in the top few top pass rusher in
the draft. Right great three technique, you may now have
a defensive player taking in the top ten, and if
there is, there's probably just one you could be looking.
You could be a top fifteen pick and be looking
at the best or second best defensive player in this draft.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Three times in the draft history, nineteen offensive players have
been taken in the first round nineteen sixty eight, two
thousand and four, two thousand and nine. We might tie it,
we might break it. You talk about consensus, LaVar, Let's
start with you. The consensus number one overall pick is
Caleb Williams. Are you buying him as the best player
out there for the Chicago Bears?

Speaker 5 (02:02):
Well, you know I've spoken very Frank about the fact
that I think if I had my choice, I'd go
with Jaden Daniels. I think that the one thing that
separates Jaden outside of him having such a consistency with
how he releases the ball and his ability to throw
the ball downfield, I think what separates him is I

(02:24):
think he's the most athletic and the best running quarterback
between if we're saying between the two or the three,
if it were saying Drake May, if we're saying Kayleb
Williams and jayde and Daniels, I think Jadeen Daniels has
that one extra tool in his toolbox to be an
effective quarterback in this new era and new age of

(02:47):
NFL football.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
And look, Washington is sitting on him right now, but
teams like the Raiders, they are still calling up to
see if they can try and make it. Same with
you know, the Minnesota was doing it also, but you
know Washington is just really right now they're staying Pat.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Steve from the GM chair, is Williams the number one pick?
Is that the guy that you would take if you
had number one and you were in the same situation
as the Bears.

Speaker 6 (03:10):
Yes, you know, I think he is and and Rob
here's why the number one. He's got tremendous size, He's
got a great body of work. All the way back
from his days at Oklahoma, so Oklahoma to USC he
has been a consistent player, not only physically, but he
has shown the ability to lead his team and to
do good things, you know, whereas a number of these
other guys have been up and down throughout their career,

(03:31):
particularly Jayden. You know, I watched him earlier one at
Arizona State, and he he stumbled at times. There is
not the biggest guy, has a little wiry in terms
of his body type. But to me, Caleb Williams is
probably the safest pick to be the number one overall guy. Again,
there you can go anyway. I mean, there's sort of
like these receivers. You look at those top three receivers

(03:52):
and sort of like what flavor do you like inside outside, speed, quickness,
body body types. Again, to me, it's going to be
a fun draft. It's going to be rocking the night.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
One bit of news that just happened moments ago. The
Philadelphia Eagles, they have the number twenty two pick in
the first round. They agreed to a three year ninety
six million dollar extension with wide receiver aj Brown. Of
that ninety six million, eighty four of it guaranteed.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
Good for him.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
That is massive, nice, massive, nice number, man, Steve. I
want to stay with you. We have three teams Chicago, Minnesota,
Arizona with multiple picks in the first round. What programs
maybe it's those three or somebody else out there? Are
you looking to make some type of noise maybe ala
what the Houston Texans were able to do last year.

Speaker 6 (04:41):
Yeah, And I think Manti Austin Ford at Arizona is
in a great position. I think he's got what six picks.
I think in the first ninety he's got a real chance.
He's sitting there at for I think they're in the
late twenties as well. In the first round, he's going
to have an opportunity because it's going to be the
first pick that's probably non quarterback in this draft. So
he's going to have the ability to wheel in deal
a little bit and sort of hold his cards tight

(05:02):
to the vest right now. But again, if he gets
an offer that's hard to refuse, whether it's the Raiders
or any of these other teams, I think you could
see Theirs and the Cardinals on the move.

Speaker 4 (05:11):
You know, it's interesting last year also how the Cardinals went.
They pleased Houston. Yeah right, they Houston thought that they
were negotiating against the Titans and they weren't. So even
with this calling a guy like Manios for I think
people are gonna go, Okay, we got to make sure
we really know what's going on here or not.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
Yeah, from your work, Jay Caleb, Yeah, they got the
first pick.

Speaker 4 (05:33):
Yeah, there's been no And look, Ryan Poles and that team.
They've been out here several times, actually been to my
Buddies restaurant most of the times with them, and they've
been over to Bird Streets over there a West Hollywood
with the Caleb quite a bit. They have absolutely fallen
in love with the player. And I will say this
about Caleb. You say what you want about him. A
lot of people really don't know much about him, but

(05:54):
I do know that he sat with certain players, uh
retired players, and he's atking all the right questions as
far as what to take to be great? What is
Brady done, what is Manning done? What has this guy done?
What has that guy done? Really asking the top things
and not just coming in like, nah, I'm good already.
I already know everything, which some guys do. Right, we
all know that we're seeing that it drives are crazy.

(06:15):
He's not acting like that.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
So you're saying we have a lock at number one.
If I think, you go, that's one hundred. You think
a lock at number two with Jayde Daniels, So then
it's New England at three. Drake May seems to be
the guy there. How much of a lock is that?

Speaker 3 (06:28):
I would think right now it's a pretty good lock.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
I know teams are still trying to work up with
them also, and look, guys like Minnesota are trying to
talk with them. The Giants are supposedly talking with them also,
but I just don't know if New England's really going
to come off it. And also like I don't know
if people have enough ammunition, Like I don't know if
Minnesota is really going to want to part with their
type of ammunition. They have to be able to move

(06:50):
up to a place like three four Drake May, and
then after that I think they could sit pretty The
Giants don't take a quarterback, which I don't really think
they're going to right now. They don't guys like the
Vikings and and and Raiders who thought that maybe have
to move up for one of those other guys like
a like a Penix or a JJ McCarthy might be
able to sit tight a little bit.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
Is there drama at four with Arizona?

Speaker 3 (07:14):
I think I don't think there is right now, I
think they're I see there. I don't think so. Then
can we say, think is the Chargers? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (07:22):
At number five, that's when the draft picks up.

Speaker 4 (07:24):
Yeah, I think so. I think that's that's really it.
And you know, right now, I think they go off
into the lineman. I think everythinks they're going to go.
You also look at the need receiver help also, but
this is a this is a you know, I said that,
like people are set on the top three receivers, but
not after that. But there's still guys have high grades
for you know, eight, nine, ten receivers in this draft.

(07:46):
They got good value from these guys later on the first, second.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Third, Yeah, LeVar, what do you think a theme is
going to be when this first round is all said
and done tonight?

Speaker 3 (07:54):
Uh?

Speaker 5 (07:57):
Arms race literally and figuratively sounds like it's going to
be an arms race. You want to get as dangerous
and as lethal as you can with the person who's
going to deliver the ball. There are quite a few
teams that are in need of being able to deliver
that ball. So look forward to be by Jay's admission,

(08:19):
a lot of a lot of quarterbacks coming off of
the board.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
One of the questions I had was, will we have
five quarterbacks in the first round. No, you'll have six
and shape not even in the first round, the first
half that round.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
Yeah, by fifteen or sixteen, right, that's thirty two.

Speaker 4 (08:33):
Round so sore by the way you could see out
my mask'll suck. We didn't excuse I said, first half fifteen. No,
there's thirty two teams.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
Worry about its close hard. So who are the programs
that are in play for quarterbacks? Let's go four, five,
and six.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
There's only six teams who really need quarterbacks. If you
look at it, look look at that first round. These
teams don't need quarterbacks, and they everybody thought there's gonna
be so much movement because of all the teams that
do teams need them.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
That is it.

Speaker 5 (09:02):
But with a high rated what what would be considered
to be a deep class with quarterbacks, No.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
It's it's terrible after those sixth So that's the top six.

Speaker 5 (09:13):
The idea of it is is that there is that
aggression in terms of trying.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
To get me. I can get one team in questions
jaither you'd have to think is the New York Giants? Yeah?
What do they do? That is a wild card pick?

Speaker 6 (09:22):
You know, Daniel Jones? Are you okay with sticking to
that guy? I shouldn't be. You shouldn't be.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
You already know exactly, Yeah, you already know. You got
the answers to the test.

Speaker 5 (09:29):
You already. And your job is on the line. Now
if if I'm day ball, that my job is on
the line.

Speaker 4 (09:34):
So you got to think though your jobs on the line.
I was just talking to team about this jobs on
the line. If you take a quarterback, is it by
you time? Because you could say, oh man, we're going
to develop this guy, let him sit there for a
year or you know, no, yeah, if you don't win again,
you're out in the next pass to do it right.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
So it's a quarterback that they didn't draft. Another need.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
The teams that need quarterback Chicago, Washington, New England Giants,
we have Minnesota, Denver and Vegas.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
Is that six is that six or seven, that's seven
including the Giants. So the Giants, you know what I'm saying,
then all six gets six, which is a realistic way
of looking at it. But if that's the case, we
might see seven quarterbacks go pretty pretty quickly.

Speaker 4 (10:21):
So you don't know who that's, No, I don't think so,
Steve jumping here. The next guy I have is is
Spencer Rattler. But I don't think that's the first round er.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
No, I don't think Spencer is. I don't think.

Speaker 4 (10:30):
And then after Spencer Rattler, I don't know if there's anybody, like,
there's not really anybody in like the even third or fourth.
It's a it's really bad depth for quarterback. It's great
for the top part of the draft.

Speaker 6 (10:40):
Right, and we got to remember desperate times, desperate measures.
I mean again, a lot of times these guys will
get pushed up. No different from the year that I
was a general manager and Carson Palmer retired. You know,
we're sitting there and Josh Rosen is the fourth best
quarterback on the board. Did he did he earn that spot?
Probably not? But at the same time, he looked like one.
He smelled like when he had the skill set to
be one. But this same time we pressed ourselves.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
When you have that need? Do you?

Speaker 4 (11:04):
Now you look back and you know you have a need?
How hard is to remain objective to grade these guys?

Speaker 6 (11:09):
You don't, You don't avoid the red flags. And that's
the hard part. You have so much pressure, especially at
that position, that you will absolutely overlook the red flags.
And it's the biggest, biggest concern in this business.

Speaker 3 (11:20):
This good stuff.

Speaker 2 (11:21):

Speaker 2 (12:31):
The Chicago Bears seven to ten last year, their pick
is in. We are waiting for confirmation that it will
be Caleb Williams going to the Bears. If that does
happen as we expect it, it will be USC's sixth
number one overall pick in the Common Draft Area. That
would break a tie with Oklahoma for most by any
school at the time. Member Williams started his collegiate career

(12:53):
where at Oklahoma, Lincoln Riley would become the first college
football head coach to produce one, two three number one
overall picks in the Common Draft Area, Baker Mayfield and
Kyler Murray doing it in back to back years. They
were also drafted first overall, and the pick is in.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
With the first pick, the Chicago Bears select Caleb Williams,
quarterback USC six foot one two hundred and fourteen pounds.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
So as expected after they traded Justin Fields to Pittsburgh
Chicago with that number one overall pick courtesy of the
Carolina Panthers signs or rather is going to sign, but
picks the former Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams out of
usc And this is a pick that Steve makes a
lot of sense on a lot of levels for this franchise.

Speaker 6 (13:48):
There's no question, I mean, this organization needed a lift. Obviously,
big time player from a great program has had a
lot of success. He's got a big physical structure. I
mean you look at his hands are big, He's strong,
fits the profile for what they need in that cold
weather atmosphere up there in Chicago. And he can to
me again, he is a franchise guy, you know, and he.

Speaker 4 (14:08):
Has that you know, big arm obviously in the big
arm to the point where he has so much confidence
in himself. And I think in college he got himself
in trouble with that, and I think in the pros
he'll get coach to where he knows not to do
that because things are completely different level in the Lebacy disguise,
so many different things in the pros, much more than college.
So he's gonna have to get better in that area.
But just as far as just the tools of him

(14:29):
being able to do some things when things are not there,
that they're not so clear. I just think he's a
He's on a different level him and Jaden then than
we've seen a little while.

Speaker 3 (14:41):
My first thought is who is he throwing the ball to?

Speaker 5 (14:44):
Do you feel good about the receivers that they have
DJ Moore, They added Keenan Allen, they have Tyler Scott,
But the reality of it is, is ken Keenan Allen
stay healthy. There's always going to be the health concerns
until he proves that otherwise. And DJ Moore or is formidable.
I think he's a good, good player for them. They
added DeAndre Swift to the backfield. I like him as

(15:07):
a running back. Can they put it all together and
how quickly does that look? Is this a new look
Bears team that can actually give a lot that opportunity
for Caleb Williams, who is young and still going to
be a rookie. Can he come in and have that

(15:28):
type of environment where the success is there for him
early would be my biggest question.

Speaker 4 (15:33):
Don't forget they got the ninth pick. Also, they can
continue to load up for him as well.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
So Steve, how do they handle that ninth pick right now,
because they only have four picks total in this draft,
fewest of all the teams in the league.

Speaker 6 (15:46):
Yeah, I mean, I think you got to help him,
get him some weapons or get him some protection, one
or the other. And like Jay said, it's going to
be an offensive heavy front first end of the draft.
The thing that encourages me the most about this young
man is talking to Cliff Kingsbury, who coached him this
past year. He's said, the kid is an absolute football junkie.
I know there were teams that questioned some leadership things
and and those sort of things off the field, but

(16:06):
Cliff Kingsbury had told me early on in the process,
this kid is a He is a dog. He is
a real animal that studies the game, loves it and
is a football junkie, which excites me with a guy
with that skill set.

Speaker 3 (16:18):
Yeah, and they look Caleb Ball.

Speaker 4 (16:20):
So there was questions earlier on whether he'd go to Chicago,
whether you know, if he going to say right, if
you're gonna, if you wanted to, And I early on
I told this team for people on this team. Listen,
he goes to Chicago and he succeeds, they'll probably build
a statue for him next year.

Speaker 3 (16:34):
They've never had one. They've never had it before.

Speaker 5 (16:36):
They've never had a quarterback, they've never had it. So,
I mean, what the best thing they've had was was McMahon, right, yeah,
I mean, and that was their defense and his sweetness
and you know, Willy go know those guys. But I
tell you, it is an amazing market. They got great
food if you ain't know. So if you're going there
to watch him play, do you have great food? You have
some some serious too there. Uh yeah, but he is

(16:59):
going to have to deal with and he is from DC,
so is an e East Coast guy, even though they
made people may know him from coming from USC.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
But he can handle the cold weather.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
So coming up next, it's the Washington Commanders that are
on the clock. They have under four minutes to go.
Draft Night Live on Fox Sports Radio with the Insider
J Glaser, former Cardinals GM, Steve Kahin, College Football Hall
of Famer LeVar Arrington, and me Robstone. We are broadcasting
live from the ti Iraq dot Com studios Tyraq dot
Com will help you get there, an unmatched selection, fast

(17:29):
free shipping, free road hazard production, and over ten thousand
recommended installers tyraq dot com the way tire buying should be.
So we are now waiting on the Washington commanders, just
about three minutes left for them and Jay this one
also sounds like a done deal. Jaden Daniels.

Speaker 3 (17:47):
Jadan Daniels Again what I was told. I asked him.
I said, hey, is there anything that can get you
guys to move off? Jadan Daniels. And there are people
I talked to them are like, yeah, HER's a walker
to trit that's about it. Give it up a looker
now I going.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
I know the raiders are really trying, and they were
kind of seeing if they're gonna get well, I should.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
Say there like AP was pushing on.

Speaker 4 (18:09):
They pushing in there for But I think also, you know,
it's not just his call, right, Tom Tolesco's over there,
Mark Davis, and you know, I think it was up
to eight p They're like, all right, whatever we have
to do to get them, but let's go get him.
But I think they're gonna kind of temper that, you know.
And but that's also why Washington sitting here, you know,
rolling out the clock a little bit longer, just to see. Okay,
do they end up saying, you know what, guys, you

(18:31):
know you never know. Do we get desperate as the
clock goes on and let's just just throw a ridiculous
offer they can't refuse. But it's gonna have to be
a ridiculous offer, like a ridiculous, ridiculous one.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
And guys, I just don't see.

Speaker 6 (18:43):
It happening, which is a good reason why gms are gms,
and coaches or coaches, let's go ahead, I just don't
see it happening.

Speaker 3 (18:49):
Stay in your specific lane, and and and then that.

Speaker 5 (18:52):
That type of situation is that is that what you
say to especially a new head coach that is saying, look,
this is this is the guy out really like to have.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
How do you handle that?

Speaker 6 (19:01):
Yeah, I mean I think that's a great question. I mean,
obviously you love the passion that the guy has for
the player, but at the same time, you got to
do what's best for the organization. And that's the hard
balance between a GM and a coach. Coaches have to
win now. They want to win now. I get that,
so do gms, But you have to do what's best
long term for the organization, and that's usually like a
three year span. You got to look at.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
New owner, new GM, new head coach. They have six
picks inside the first one hundred currently on their depth chart.
QB one is owned by Marcus Mariota, Jeff Friscal Jake
Frommer the only other qbs on the current roster. Mariota
just thirteen starts over the last four seasons. Remember they

(19:42):
traded Washington did Sam Howe to Seattle to improve their
fourth and sixth round picks to third and fifth rounders.
So we have one quarterback taken already, Caleb Williams as
expected from UC going number one overall to Chicago. The
Washington Commander's pick is in. We expecting them to continue
this run on quarterbacks. Jay thinks it will continue to

(20:04):
pick number three with New England as well. Drake May
the North Carolina tar Heel seems to be the choice
at that point, but things could get interesting, and the
pick is in for Washington just four wins last year.
Here they are with their first round pick.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
With the second pick, the Washington Commanders select Jaden Daniels
quarterback Lsu six foot four to two hundred and ten pounds.

Speaker 2 (20:36):
Forty passing touchdowns, just four picks for last year's Heisman
Trophy winning quarterback from the LSU, a young man who
started his collegiate career at Arizona State. So, as expected,
Jaden Daniels goes number two to the Washington Commanders. Will
break down that pick and get you ready for what's
in store after the break. Draft night Live on Fox

(20:58):
Sports Radio with the insider Jay Glazer, former Cards GM,
Steve Kim, College Football Hall of Famer LeVar Arrington, and
me Rob Stone will be right back with the number
three overall pick and a breakdown of Washington selection of
Jade and Daniels.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in

Speaker 2 (21:26):
We'll discuss that Washington selection of Jade and Daniels in
just a moment, But the New England Patriots have made
their pick. Their first round selection, number three overall will be.

Speaker 3 (21:39):
With the third pick.

Speaker 1 (21:40):
The New England Patriots select Drake May, quarterback North Carolina
six foot four to two hundred and twenty three pounds.

Speaker 2 (21:51):
So for the fourth time quarterbacks have gone one, two,
and three in the NFL Draft nineteen seventy one, nineteen
ninety nine, twenty one one, and here in twenty twenty four, Steve,
what's you read on Drake May out of North Carolina.

Speaker 6 (22:06):
Well, you know, he's got prototypical size and athleticism. He
really does look the part. The thing that concerns me
the most is here is a guy who has not
probably lived up to the potential when in terms of
you know, you're playing for a team like North Carolina
and you would like to see a guy like that
raise the bar for that university to take them to
a higher amount of wins. And to me, again, it's

(22:28):
concerning just because I've seen guys in the past, whether
it's guys like Kyle Bowler in the past, whether it's
guys like Blaine Gabbert, they have all the skills and
the attributes, but there's something missing. And I thought he
was a little too careless with the football in my opinion.

Speaker 4 (22:39):
Yeah, And teams were really they were split on him
big time. And I've had teams who had him at three.
Nobody really had him up there in one and two.
I've had teams had him at three. I've had teams
had him at six as a six best quarterback out there.
And because of that inconsistency, and you look at me,
and then people compared his size to Josh Allen, like
that's not an accurate, really accurate comparison at all. But

(23:03):
I will tell you this New England for a long
time has been pretty set on Drake May. When teams
have called, they haven't really been willing to move off
of that either. And guys, this is where the draft
really starts, because going in, as I told you right
out of the gates, I thought these three quarterbacks should go.

Speaker 3 (23:18):
And then the draft starts here.

Speaker 5 (23:20):
You know, I think this is a conversation of highest
ceilings versus highest highest ceilings. I think Drake May, jayde
and Daniels our highest ceiling type of guys in this
draft like more room to grow, more room to grow.
I think there is more room to grow. You look
at someone like Caleb Williams. He comes in and you

(23:40):
can look at the polished nature of how he approaches
the game, what his results have been, and say that
he's more of a guy that has had a higher
of a floor than his ceiling. How high is his
ceiling not sure? But what I can say is, I
think when you look at someone like Drake May in
this draft, at someone like Jaydon Daniels in his draft,

(24:03):
is it going to be an environment where it's conducive
to them being able to learn what the game is
about and how to approach being successful as a pro
because they do have that potential in terms of having
a good, good ceiling.

Speaker 4 (24:18):
And by the way, after last year, if there are
guys who already said how we may even take May
over Caleb Willis, that was last year, right, So yeah,
and then this year happened and that all changed.

Speaker 3 (24:26):
Now.

Speaker 6 (24:26):
To be fair, I mean, I don't want to take
away from his potential, but there are some things he
had absolutely needs to clean one.

Speaker 4 (24:32):
And then look, then we go to a guy like
Jayden and Daniels. We haven't really hit on all that much,
but Jayden and Daniels. And by the way, I think again,
I think the draft starts here. I think you'll see
your first receiver here. I do think it'll be Marvin
Harrison still be the first receiver it goes here. But
you know, back to Jade and Daniels, here's a guy
that stayed in school and as a result of that
made himself an awfully wealthy guy because he was nowhere

(24:54):
near that right in the times when he played five
years out there in college, and because he stayed in school,
he was able to really work on improving and showing
people how much he could approve. And that's why he
was worth that second pick of the draft. And I
still think he's going to improve an awful lot more.

Speaker 5 (25:08):
That's a great point to have that ability and opportunity
to mature, to have the wherewithal to work on himself
and work on the things that were needed to be
worked on in order to make himself a more attractive player.
Not only did he make himself a more attractive player,
but it proved out that he would be the best
player in college football this year by winning the Heisman. So, yeah,

(25:32):
your one hundred percent right on the maturity aspect of it,
and win in doubt, give yourself a little bit more
time for development.

Speaker 3 (25:40):
There's nothing wrong with that.

Speaker 4 (25:41):
And now guys, we have our first receiver that I believe,
Marvin Hoverson's go here, and then it's those next three quarterbacks.
I'm telling you there's going to be six quarterbacks taken
here in the top thirteen fourteen to fifteen picture by
the New York before even the end of the first
half of this first round.

Speaker 3 (25:56):
How are you feeling now that we're closer to New York?
Is it New York? Do I think the Giants were
taking one?

Speaker 4 (26:02):
Though?

Speaker 2 (26:03):

The Arizona Cardinals at number four and the pick is in.

Speaker 1 (26:42):
With the fourth pick, the Arizona Cardinals select Marvin Harrison,
junior wide receiver Ohio State, six foot three, two hundred
and nine pounds.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
Well many of Peg tien to be Arizona's next great
wide receiver after Larry Fitzgerald. Remember the Cardinals had made
trades involving their first round pick in each of the
last two NFL drafts, and Arizona, well, this probably won't
be the last we hear from them in this first round,
the way things have been going for them. They have
another pick at number twenty seven, but the first wide receiver,

(27:17):
LaVar has taken. Marvin Harrison, a big ten guy, a
guy who is just immense amount of talent, and you
watch them live.

Speaker 3 (27:25):
I saw you on the floor.

Speaker 5 (27:26):
My goodness, I saw you before that game and the
Horseshoe and Columbus and seeing you know, he's one of
those guys. Seeing is believing. If you thought that he
was anything but what the hype says he is, you
see him in person, all those questions are answered, all
those questions are melted away. Just a dynamic, dynamic player

(27:49):
obviously comes from a great line and his father being
Marvin Harrison Senior, the Hall of Famer, learned, learned and
understood the cerebral approach to being the player, being a
professional even before becoming a professional at the position. It's
a great pick for Arizona. He's someone that changes the

(28:10):
dynamic of what this team is capable of.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
Doing Day one.

Speaker 4 (28:14):
What I love about Marvin Harrison Junior is even when
you knew they have to throw them the ball in
this situation, he'd still get a completion. It didn't matter.
So you could take everything and throw it at him.
He's still going to figure out a way to get
himself open. His great separation, great speed, great size, great pedigree.
Like you said, he really didn't have a lot of
knocks on him.

Speaker 6 (28:33):
He didn't, you know. To me, I love this pick.
To me, Joe Alt, the Notre Dame offensive tackle, and
Marvin Harrison Junior may be two of the cleaner prospects
in this draft. Tremendous character obviously raised by the Hall
of Famer Marvin Harrison Senior. To me, a little bit thicker,
but reminds me a lot of AJ Green when he
came out of out of Georgia. You know, AJ was

(28:54):
a lean, linear guy that could run and make no mistake.
This kick can run by you and create plays vertically,
And to me, I think he is going to be
a tremendous, tremendous asset for Kyler Murray.

Speaker 2 (29:04):
Two time first team All American Arizona. Again, they have
eleven picks this draft. That's tied for the most currently
with Green Bay and the Rams. They have six picks
in the first ninety. We'll be hearing from them again.
They have number twenty seven in the first round. But
here's where things get interesting. One, two, three, and four
has gone as expected. Let's lay out the next couple picks.

(29:25):
Number five the Los Angeles Chargers and their new head
coach Jim Harbaugh. At six, it's the Giants, seven, Tennessee,
eight Atlanta nine Chicago, and number ten the New York Jets.
If you are the Los Angeles Chargers off a five
and twelve campaign and needs at wide receiver, at quarterback,

(29:45):
at linebacker, at tackle, even running back, Steve, what are
you thinking? The Chargers are molling right now? And my
guess is they're going to let every second go down
for those phones to ring.

Speaker 6 (29:56):
Yeah, I mean, aside from the trade options, I would
guess knowing that the players that are on the board,
to me, you got to be thinking a weapon outside
for for their young quarterback or an offensive tackle.

Speaker 4 (30:08):
No, I think I think offensive tack will look Joe.
I think all I think Latham. Latham really flew up
the last few days.

Speaker 5 (30:16):
J C.

Speaker 3 (30:16):
Layton.

Speaker 4 (30:17):
Then they're in Alabama. Man, when you spoke to people
a week ago, he kind of wasn't down there, and
then all of a sudden he jumped all the way
up to first on teams boards or second on teams boards.

Speaker 3 (30:25):
So I think, you know, if you look at.

Speaker 4 (30:27):
The top offensive lineman or this draft, I mean they're
sitting right up there, and then in the middle of
the draft, right, it really has a drop off. So
there's I think it's a grab bag after that. But
the receivers, I think you can get. It's deeper for
receivers in the second round and third round. I personally
think it's smarter for them take an offensive lineman here.

(30:47):
But you know, the charger, I think of the kind
of the big unknown in that top five.

Speaker 6 (30:51):
Yeah, history says you can get offensive lineman rounds three
through seven, you can't. You can't get you know, offensive
tackles anywhere. So it's they're not they don't grow on trees.
To me, Joe alt or JC Latham are the two
guys here. They're two different kind of players.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
You know.

Speaker 6 (31:07):
All it is a tremendous pass protector. Great technique was
raised by his you know, his father who was a
great offensive lineman for the Chiefs. Latham is more powerful,
probably more of a right tackle or inside prospect, but
a road grader, probably the strongest offensive lineman in this draft.

Speaker 5 (31:22):
Than it could possibly be Latham. Then, I mean, I
like all to be the pick, but make no mistake
about it. By looking at the signs that are out
there that you read on the sideline and see what's
going on with with with the team, it says that
mister Harball loves do it. Yeah didn't y'all didn't catch
my joke. It says that mister Harball wants to run

(31:42):
the ball. He brought in Gus the bus from Baltimore.
He's telling you right now, he's bringing the same mentality
that he had when he was in the forty nine
ers organization when he went to Michigan. He's going to
prepare to beat you physically Lee in the NFL game

(32:03):
once again. So he's going to get a lineman. The
question is is he going to get a lineman that
can protect his prize jewel quarterback and Herbert or is
he going to get that guy that you said might
be more of a powerful road grader where he can
actually establish that run. But look for Harball to be
a guy who wants his team's personality to be establishing

(32:27):
the physical dominance and presence of what it is he wants.

Speaker 2 (32:30):
You remember what Michigan and Harball did in the second
at Penn State. They ran the ball the entire time,
the entire half.

Speaker 5 (32:38):
Yeah, he wasn't there, his team was there, he wasn't there,
and they still ran it.

Speaker 6 (32:45):
And I also keep in mind Joe Hortiz, the new
general manager, comes from Baltimore, who also has a history
of taking offensive linean high in the rigue.

Speaker 5 (32:52):
You can't go wrong if you get a really, really
sturdy offensive line and.

Speaker 4 (32:57):
Guys, like I said, Latham was kind of down on
board the other day and jumped.

Speaker 3 (33:01):
All the way up. But I think alt is the
safest guy here.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
I think that's the smartest one to take a lot
of great receivers, though member Keenan Allen, Mike Williams both
cap casualties. Quinton Johnson hasn't really panned out, but it
definitely looks like if it's a hardball guy, it's going
to be a big guy up front. Draft Night Live
on Fox Sports Radio with insider Jay Glazer, Former Cardinals, GM,
Steve Kaim, College Football Hall of Famer LeVar Arrington, and

(33:24):
me Rob Stone. Tonight we're finding out who will be
going pro with Express Pros, the official employment agency of
Fox Sports Radio's Draft Night Live. The Los Angeles Chargers
first draft for Jim Harbaugh are on the clock right now,
and as we mentioned Steve, they've got a lot of
needs right now. Are you saying offensive line just because

(33:47):
that's more of what Harball's ID is and he needs
to kind of set that tone early.

Speaker 3 (33:53):
Well, I do. I think that.

Speaker 6 (33:54):
I think that Joe Hortiz also the new general manager
from the Ravens, which I don't want to discredit, and
as well, you know, sometimes when you just look at
your board, you have to acknowledge what is the best
player available. And offensive linemen aren't sexy, but they are
the way to go. And you like alt Over. I
love yeah All because he's just so much cleaner. He's
more of the consensus. Yeahs tackling him again, I think

(34:16):
that'd be a great pick for them, right. Tremendous pass protector.
The guy actually played quarterback and tight end in high school.

Speaker 3 (34:21):
Oh wows. Yes, dad was a beast and he just
has the pedigree.

Speaker 2 (34:25):
Left tackle during all three seasons at Notre Dame six
foot nine big though three twenty one, we.

Speaker 4 (34:32):
Don't need no I'm actually when I'm walking on the street,
I get I get a lot of people confuse me
for him.

Speaker 3 (34:39):
For him. Yeah, it happens all the time. I thought
the same thing when you watch I was like, who
is that Joe?

Speaker 2 (34:45):
Yeah, I bet you'll run into that show. Not Jay,
It was Joe, and they might fall for it. Tell
them your Joe Alton. There you go, first round pick.
So it looks like it could be all could be Latham,
the Chargers clearly, and the pick is in after the Chargers,
it's the New York Giants. We've got a lot of
questions about them. Tennessee Titans City there, I think the.

Speaker 4 (35:05):
Giants go receiver two. Also, people thought quarterback there. I
think even back during the year, that's one of the
teams that really love neighbors. Even though I think above
Marvin Harrison and they were kind of going back and forth.
But it's when I really first heard about neighbors, just
talking to people in the Giants about them.

Speaker 3 (35:20):
During the middle of the year.

Speaker 2 (35:23):
Tennessee City there at number seven. So if it's Alt
or Lathan, that goes right now to the Chargers. The
other one, yeah, in Nashville, and the pick is in.
Here's the Chargers and their number five overall pick.

Speaker 1 (35:37):
With the fifth pick, the Los Angeles Chargers select Joe
Walt offensive tackle, Notre Dame six foot nine, three twenty
one pounds.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
So USC, LSU, unc Ohio State, Notre Dame. Those are
your top five fixed schools that have produced the talent.
Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake May, Marvin Harrison, and now
Joe Alt. So first five picks, all five of them
offensive players. Again, the record for a first round nineteen

(36:11):
offensive players in.

Speaker 5 (36:12):
The first Roundez, can we get some love? We're them dogs,
We need some defensive players.

Speaker 3 (36:18):
Come on out.

Speaker 2 (36:19):
When are we going to see a defensive payer? Taket
Maybe eight Atlanta, I don't know, man.

Speaker 4 (36:25):
Possibly, possibly, if Atlanta stays there. Atlanta's had talks about
moving out. Otherwise they'll get their pick of the best
defensive player in this draft. I know, And they're kind
of all over the board there, but I don't know
if they're going to stay pat there. They may not
stay put. They may be on their their way out.

Speaker 2 (36:43):
What are we thinking about the quarterback situation right now?
Daniel Jones re signed back in twenty three four year,
one hundred and sixty million dollars. Last year six games,
one win, five losses, two touchdowns, six interceptions. Drew was
picked up as a free agent in the off season.

(37:04):
Quarterback has to be awfully tempting, as do a lot
of positions. Frankly for the Giants wide receiver, as you mentioned,
a big need as well.

Speaker 4 (37:13):
I think what the Giants you're trying to do right now, though,
they're trying to get people to think that they're really
going to go all in here on Jay J. McCarthy
and to hope to get a team like Minnesota, hope
to get a team, hope to get somebody bites.

Speaker 3 (37:23):
So yeah, I think that you'll.

Speaker 4 (37:24):
Really see the Giants here kind of milk it and
take as much time as they possibly can, hoping that
then they can get somebody to jump up.

Speaker 2 (37:32):
Giants have just about five minutes left on them.

Speaker 3 (37:34):
But if nobody jumps up, what do they do? I
think they end up taking neighbors. That's what I think.

Speaker 4 (37:40):
But again, I know that's going to be a discussion
there Drake May with a quarterback that they really did
like if they can move. I know they had data
half talks with the New England Patriots about possibly moving
up the Patriots. We know they didn't budge at all.
So I think in the end there, I do think
it's it's I think it's Neighbors.

Speaker 6 (37:55):
And don't forget Marvin Harrison Junior was not number one
on all boards. I mean there were some words that
had a mixture of you know, different these three different receivers,
all different types, with Romadu as well. Yeah, So so
Neighbors is a guy to me. You know again, probably
the most explosive receiver in this draft, can play inside, outside,
can really create in the slot with two way gos

(38:15):
and all the things that come with his foot speed
and athleticism. He is a real danger.

Speaker 3 (38:19):
But I don't believe.

Speaker 5 (38:23):
And Daniel Jones, that's the biggest dilemma.

Speaker 2 (38:29):
Do you believe in JJ McCarthy, Moore or Michael Pennix more?

Speaker 3 (38:32):
Yes at this point, rob anybody. But what I've already seen.

Speaker 6 (38:37):
Well, I think the real concern too when you talk
about that, LeVar, I mean not only if you're not
convinced that that's your guy. On top of that, the
double whamman, you're also paying them. You're paying them, You're
paying him a good piece of this stuff, a pie.

Speaker 3 (38:50):
They say what they say, stuck like Chuck.

Speaker 2 (38:53):
And Tommy DeVito, they trust man and that's another guy.

Speaker 3 (38:58):
It was.

Speaker 5 (38:58):
It was a little bit of a It was a
little bit of a run. It was a nice little deal.
It was a great feel good story, Christmas story. You know,
nice gift, you know gift that that came in Christmas time.
But then Christmas was over and it was over and
reality said.

Speaker 3 (39:12):
It there you go.

Speaker 5 (39:12):
I was more intrigued by his agent, right and the hats.
Then they said he won Italian of the Year. Didn't that?

Speaker 2 (39:19):
Was there anybody else in the race? Draft on Fox
Sports Radio with insider J Glaser, former Cardinals GM, Steve Kaim,
college Football Hall of Famer LeVar Arrington, and me Rob Stone,
and tonight we're finding out who will be going pro

The New York Giants with the sixth overall pick, and

(40:02):
their pick is in again. Caleb Williams has gone number
one to the Bears, Jaden Daniels to Washington, Drake May
to New England. So three qbs in the first three,
Marvin Harrison, the wide out from Ohio State going to
Arizona at number four, and the Chargers going big upfront,
Joe allt the offensive tackle from Notre Dame. And now

(40:23):
the Giants have made their pick.

Speaker 1 (40:27):
With a sixth pick, the New York Giants select Molik
Neighbors wide receiver Lsu six foot, two hundred.

Speaker 2 (40:36):
Pounds, second by you Bengal taken second player from the
LSU Meleik Neighbors. Does this begin a run on wide
receivers as the Giants take Meleak Neighbors, So Daniel Jones
for the moment can rest a little bit easier that
there's no more competition in the quarterback room for the

(40:56):
time a first team All SEC.

Speaker 4 (40:59):
Run on receivers here, per se, I think you know
I know what Dooonsday was up there, but just as
if things continued unfolded, somebody's ring year. I think, you know, again,
Atlanta could be on the move there. There could be
a surprise from somebody trying to come up there Atlanta
for somebody else you'd be a little bit more surprised about.
And then after that Chicago, I don't see them having
going after a receiver that could because maybe they thought

(41:21):
of Doomsday wouldn't be there. And you know, the Jets
also probably probably they all probably thought all three would
be gone, but that could be that may not happen now.

Speaker 6 (41:29):
I mean, I think a couple of the higher rated
players there are definitely gonna still go. You know, obviously
the brock Bowers is a guy that teams like uh,
you know, the offensive tackles that are left on the board.
Jac Latham, there are definitely gonna be some guys that
that make a run here and it's gonna be a
good one.

Speaker 2 (41:44):
You mentioned Latham. He may be next number seven to
Tennessee Draft Night Live on Fox Sports Radio with insider
Jay Glazer, former Cards GM, Steve Kim, College Football Hall
of Famer LeVar Arrington, and me rob Stone. We will
be right back with the Tennessee Titans pick at number seven.
The New York Giants just took Malik Neighbors out of LSU,
so six offensive players taken in our first six picks.

(42:08):
The Tennessee Titans, their pick is in. The Atlanta Falcons
are on the clock, followed by the Bears again at nine,
and the Jets at ten.

Speaker 4 (42:15):
All right, so guys, the Falcons again. There are teams
that were trying to trade up with the Falcons. Falcons
were staying tight. I was always told that defensive player.
But about five days ago, somebody said, don't be surprised
if they actually check everybody and go with the quarterback,
even though they already had one and the guy in
Michael Pennix that I know that they loved in there,
that would surprise us.

Speaker 3 (42:34):
All. I'm trying to text and find out.

Speaker 4 (42:36):
If they actually they are going to follow through on that,
or if they're going to go defensive player. But it
was told to me a few days ago, and I
was like, that's crazy. And then I started to hear
it more and more and more as we started to
lead up to this draft, and then earlier today I
really started hearing about it, even more so that one's
going to be, you know, a real interesting wrinkle if
in fact, the Atlanta Falcons go quarterback despite the fact

(42:58):
that they already got kirkcut But again, they have a
defensive coach there that could also go the best defensive player.
I'm just telling you, you know, the quarterback is in
the conversation. They can move back and get him. Also,
he's just in the conversation. I'm not saying they're gonna
get him here yet, but he's in the conversation.

Speaker 5 (43:13):
For what it's worth, Kirk Cousins is familiar with guys
coming in and being a part of what's going on
on draft day as a quarterback, So.

Speaker 2 (43:23):
That drama is to come the Atlanta Falcons. They are
on the clock because Tennessee has just made their pick.

Speaker 1 (43:32):
With the seventh pick, the Tennessee Titans select JC Latham,
offensive tackle Alabama, six foot six, three hundred and twenty six.

Speaker 2 (43:42):
Pounds back in twenty twenty one fourteen games as a
reserve twenty twenty two, started all thirteen games at right tackle,
last year's second team All American, first Team All SEC
starting all fourteen games at right tackle, so Tennessee. They
had a screaming needed offense. It's a tackle and they
absolutely addressed it with this selection of j. C.

Speaker 3 (44:04):
Latham. He's got some personality on him.

Speaker 4 (44:07):
Absolutely, he's got a big personality. He actually went to
IMG with my son, so I've note about him.

Speaker 3 (44:12):
For a while.

Speaker 4 (44:12):
He'll take care of my son Sammy down there on IMG.
But he is a big, big dude. Tennessee always had
jac Latham and Joe All they were, you know, pegged
in there as their their picks. They're hoping that, you know,
both those guys weren't gone because after that there's a
big drop off for them. So there's a great selection
here for Tennessee.

Speaker 2 (44:29):
So now the intrigue at Atlanta number eight overall seven
and ten, six straight seasons they finished with seven or
fewer wins.

Speaker 4 (44:37):
Jack and guys, I'm gonna sit here and go, you
know what, They're gonna end up going first back here
now I'm gonna I do again. I started hearing it
more and more more. Atlanta Falcons are gonna shock everybody
in the up going quarterback. This is they're gonna end
up going Michael PENNOCKX.

Speaker 3 (44:49):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (44:49):
They ship Desmond Ridder to Arizona. They signed Kirk Cousins,
assuming he's going to be healthy off that achilles injury.
In Steve, that's a big assumption.

Speaker 3 (44:58):
How long is that that contract for or seven years?
It's only two years guaranteed, right.

Speaker 5 (45:03):
It doesn't seem so egregious if you think about contractually speaking, right,
give him, Give Mike Pennix two years to learn from
Kirk Cousins going.

Speaker 6 (45:13):
Another guy that was obviously an injury injury prone. But
at the same time, I mean when you do look
at the tape alone, and I'll say this, Jay Uh,
the guy is an absolute tremendous pure passer. I thought,
one of the better peer passers in this draft, even
with those top quarterbacks that just went Uh. The guy
has great anticipation, great feel for the game. His accuracy's
ball placement is just tremendous.

Speaker 2 (45:34):
The guy started at Indiana.

Speaker 6 (45:36):
Absolutely and when you watch him, the more and more
you watched him, just the throwing of the football was
just it just blew me away. And I thought to myself,
aside from again the injuries that you can't forecast, I
thought he was maybe the best pure passer in this draft.

Speaker 3 (45:49):
And here's the guy.

Speaker 4 (45:49):
Obviously he's had some injury, you know, injuries early on
to that concerned teams has a really long line up
a man. This dude's a winner. He's a winner. That's
a bottom line, and you know it is. Yeah, I'm
sure track and obviously because they just put a lot
of money into Kirk Cousins. But I guess you've fall
in love with someone and you don't come off of
no matter what you've done in free agency. I don't know, Steve,
what do you think about that?

Speaker 3 (46:09):
No?

Speaker 6 (46:10):
I agree, especially at that position. Listen, if you fall
in love with somebody and you've an opportunity to grab him,
particularly a young guy, at this point, you have no
you cannot forecast and guarantee who is going to be
your starter in terms of with the injuries. Obviously, again,
Kirk's coming off of Achilles. That's a nine month injury.
And once you come back off that, who's to say
what your movement in the pocket's going to be. So

(46:31):
I think when you protect yourself, you get yourself a
young backup who can grow and can learn within the system.
With a new staff, with Raheem and those guys, I
think it could be a solid pick. I mean, I
really do.

Speaker 4 (46:41):
The more I think we're at, it really sense even
though they got you got a defensive coacher and you
got the best defensive player in the draft sitting there. Look,
but then again, you're right if you think you have
an eight time Pro bowler, Yeah, you got to get
them regardless of what you've done.

Speaker 6 (46:52):
But I think the defensive coaches is just smart enough
to know that that's the position he needs that success.

Speaker 2 (46:58):
Draft Night Live on Fox Sports Rate with insider Jay Glazer,
former Cardinals GM, Steve Kaim, college Football Hall of Famer
LeVar Arrington. We are Ben Say and me Rob Stone.
Tonight we are finding out who will be going pro
with Expresspros, the official employment agency of Fox Sports Radio's
Draft Night Live. Tired of feeling a loon in your

(47:18):
job search? With just one connection, you can find endless
job opportunities. That connection Express employment professionals don't go alone.
Visit expresspros dot com to find the location nearest to you.
That's expresspros dot Com. So the Atlanta Falcons, not only
are they on the clock, their pick is in after them.

(47:41):
It'll be the Chicago Bears with another pick at number nine.
The Jets at ten, the Vikings at eleven, Broncos at twelve,
Raiders at thirteen. We just named a lot of teams
that are in search of a quarterback. And if Michael
Pennis indeed off the charts here with the Falcons, JJ

(48:04):
McCarthy is really that only top tier TV that's still
sitting there standing bo Nicks.

Speaker 5 (48:11):
You can have the conversation. Maybe not make White as
highly touted, of course, but man, that would be a
shake up if Atlanta goes with Pennix.

Speaker 3 (48:20):
I like it, you do like it. I like it
a lot.

Speaker 2 (48:24):
There's a lot of teams after them that don't like
it so much. Let's see very interesting. Well, I mean,
you know, the Bears aren't going to take a quarterback,
the Jets are pretty set with Aaron Rodgers coming back
from his injury. And then there's Minnesota sitting there at eleven.
And again JJ McCarthy was the guy who was always
associated with Minnesota and their system. The one yes seemed

(48:47):
to make it the most sense. Right, they will they
get him. Here is the Atlanta pick.

Speaker 1 (48:54):
With the eighth pick, the Atlanta Falcon select Michael Pennox,
junior quarterback Washington six three two hundred and fourteen pounds.

Speaker 2 (49:05):
Four qbs taken in the top eight. Pennix rising up
the boards and he is scooped up by the Falcons
at number eight. Up next the Bears with their second
first round.

Speaker 4 (49:20):
Pick, and I think the Bears, look, they got their quarterback.
I think they'll sit there and go wide receiver next.
Obviously Aroma Donesay is still sitting there, and I think
would be a great one. I don't see them. I
know they're looking at offensive line. They're also looking at
defensive tackling Byron Murphy, but I think having a Donsay
sitting there would be the selection for them. But guys,
let's get back to Pennix. That's the one that shocks everything.
That's the one also where now all of a sudden,

(49:42):
Minnesota and Vegas thought, okay, we could sit there and
we're going to get one of those other guys that
we wanted. And now those two guys are gonna sit
here and say, man, do we have to try and
move up even a couple But there's not so much
more for Minnesota to do. I'm sure that you know raiders,
you see, I don't know if they're gonna be burned
the phone line now to jump over Minnesota.

Speaker 3 (50:03):
But that's going to be the interesting thing, Steve.

Speaker 2 (50:05):
If you're Denver, if you're the Raiders, are you making
that slight move to leap frog Minnesota to get a JJ?

Speaker 3 (50:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (50:12):
I think it's the sweet spot right now. You got
to get up there. Now, that's it. It's you know,
with with Pennix off the board already, limit limits your
options and you you've got the urgency now.

Speaker 2 (50:23):
To go wow, if you're in love with them, if
you're in love with them? Correct, So Michael Pennix, I
mean the conversation what a month or so ago was
kind of first round ish right, LeVar ish ish and
then kind of maybe in the twenties and maybe in
the teens and now here he is a.

Speaker 3 (50:44):
Top quarter to ten Okay, So how many is that
right now?

Speaker 2 (50:47):
For four quarterbacks Williams, Daniel and.

Speaker 5 (50:50):
Ten to go for for Jay to hit you maccarthy'll
go before I think McCarthy goes to the Vikings.

Speaker 3 (50:59):
Wow. But what does that mean for for me?

Speaker 5 (51:03):
Now? It's like, what does that mean for the other
teams that are looking for that quarterback? What if it's Minnesota,
it's it's it's Minnesota.

Speaker 4 (51:10):
Is the Giants mission of the Raiders in Denver, Denver?
Or the last three for two quarterbacks for two And
by the way, there's only one pick after the Bears
here in the Jets for Minnesota. Like for anybody to
really if one of those two guys want to jump
in front of Minnesota.

Speaker 2 (51:27):
It has to be now, and you have to over
and you have to overpay.

Speaker 4 (51:30):
With Chicago, they're gonna end up taking a receiver here.
So I'm telling you that the Jets are the only
ones and you're gonna have to overpay. The Jets are
in a great position. You have to overpay if you
want to jump in front of Minnesota.

Speaker 3 (51:42):
Wow, I think a do is A.

Speaker 5 (51:44):
A do is A is a great pick for for
the Bears on this one to have a young talent
come in a dynamic receiver. I also got an opportunity
to see him play in person as well, playing in
the Pac twelve, the finale of of Championship Games. And
I'll tell you what what a fearless competitor he was,

(52:08):
made big plays, showed up big for them when when
they really needed him. So if it is Rome that
that is the pick for this particular, you know, for
the Bears, I think that that is a super super
strong pick because he too, in my opinion, is also
a day neighbors. Harrison and Doaa, I think those are

(52:32):
Day one guys. They changed the dynamic guys.

Speaker 4 (52:35):
I just also, I've just been told that Minnesota is
in fact moving up with the Jets, so nobody else
can move in front of them. They're gonna end up
moving up taking JJ McCarthy in a trade with the Jets.

Speaker 3 (52:46):
Wow, wow.

Speaker 2 (52:48):
Pressure, So Minnesota getting the guy. Can't wait to see
what they gave up to move one spot up in
the draft, assuming, of course, the Jets and the Vikings
would be flip flopping. I don't know why they wouldn't, Steve,
But Steve, you always have that that GM manual of
of what makes a good trade and what what's the
proper value? Off the top of your head, what is
the proper value to move up one spot in the.

Speaker 3 (53:09):
First round.

Speaker 6 (53:11):
A third round pick or a fourth round pick. And
if it's not a third round pick in twenty four,
it could be a you know, second round pick in
twenty five. That would be my guess. But sometimes you know,
if you're just moving one pick, and it doesn't really matter.
Use your instincts and then just take the take the pick.

Speaker 2 (53:26):
The Bears took Caleb Williams number one. Overall, they already
have Keenan Alliens or Keenan Allen and Dj Moore in
the wide receiver room. I did Keenan Allen. Are they
about to add one more wide receiver to the hall?
Here's the Bears pick.

Speaker 1 (53:43):
With the ninth pick, the Chicago Bears select Roma Doon say,
wide receiver Washington, six foot three, two hundred and one pounds.

Speaker 2 (53:53):
Back to back Husky. He's taken right now. Pennix to
the Falcons at eight. O Doon say to the Bears
at nine. We've had nine picks, LaVar, Would you like
to tell me what side of the ball those nine
picks have been on.

Speaker 3 (54:05):
On the opposite side, on the other.

Speaker 2 (54:06):
Side, the other side, the bad side, the other side.
All nine picks have been offensive players. Remember the record
for most offensive players taken in the first round nineteen
and we're almost halfway there.

Speaker 5 (54:19):
I mean, with all these rules they put into play
against defenders, I mean, well, I take a defender yoddle
two budget.

Speaker 4 (54:24):
By the way, we talked earlier about how the Bears
had a great offseason already. Now you had Caleb Williams,
Now you had Roman doonsay who there were teams that
had Roman Dunese as their top wide receiver on the board.
And man, you talk about a kid who just there's
no flaws that anybody really saw when he talked about
his game, when he talked about him, his character, how
much he loves football.

Speaker 3 (54:44):
I think that's a great pick for Chicago.

Speaker 6 (54:47):
Absolutely, another one of the guys that's probably one of
the cleaner picks in the draft. I mean, great character,
tremendous competitor, great fifty to fifty guyball. You know, I
don't want to say he's Larry Fitzgerald. Haven't been around
Larry all those years, but he has got the same
type of makeup. When you talk about catching radius and
ball skills and the ability to attack it in the crowd.
No better gift than to give your franchise quarterback now

(55:08):
present like Roumadounze and guys.

Speaker 4 (55:10):
What I'm being told also is that the Minnesota Vikings
are trading up with the Jets. They're given a fourth
and a fifth round pick as well, with this selection
getting a sixth rounderback So that's what the cost of business,
just to move up that one slot with the Jets
and they are going to take JJ McCarthy once they
make that selection.

Speaker 2 (55:27):
That math makes sense, season, Yeah, it does.

Speaker 6 (55:29):
It makes sense. I think it's a good, solid h
call on both sides. I mean, I think that's the
hardest thing about the drafts.

Speaker 3 (55:35):
Again.

Speaker 6 (55:35):
You know there's the there's a number system, and then
there's sometimes where you just got to say to yourself,
does this make sense for our organization? And you have
to let your instincts.

Speaker 5 (55:42):
Take over, and they move up one pick and move
back one pick and you get extra two picks in
the Jets and the golden rounds those are those are
those are to earn it.

Speaker 3 (55:53):
Rounds, fourth and fifth round there you go, well, all.

Speaker 4 (55:56):
Because it's strapped, isn't as deep as others because not
as many juniors, more guys stayed because of that COVID year.
So it's smarter to get another four in there and
give up a six because it really drops off later on.

Speaker 3 (56:05):
Plus the anils helped a little bit too with the
guys making cash.

Speaker 2 (56:09):
Now, just to go back to the Michael Pennox pick
by Atlanta at number eight, This is the earliest four
quarterbacks have been taken in the common Draft era, four
in the first eight, and we might be seeing five
in the first ten any moment right now, as Minnesota
and the Jets have flip flopped their first round picks.
Just want to go back to Chicago real quick, and

(56:29):
all the good vibes going on with the club right now.
If you will remember, yesterday the Bears they unveil that
nearly five billion dollar proposal for the enclosed stadium next
door to their current home at Soldier Field, part of
a major project that would transform the city's lakefront. So
a lot of good things for the guys in Chicago

(56:50):
right now, and they need it. Things have been a
little bit lean right now. We're getting confirmation of the
Jets and the Vikings deal right now, so you don't
need confirmation. I got you, I got you. He's getting
the visual the Vikings move from eleven to ten switch
with the Jets, So the Jets will be coming up
in just a matter of moments. The Vikings done deals
JJ McCarthy from everything that you're hearing, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (57:12):
Look, I've been talking to Vikings about it the whole time. Also,
they did love Drake May. They love McCarthy also, and
everybody was like, well, which way are they're going to go?
They did try to get up to well, first of all,
they try to get up to two, right, they wanted too,
did yeah, to get Jayden Deniels and they talked to three.
They were looking at there. Maybe they get up there
for Drake May. That was and then after that they're like, man,
do we move?

Speaker 3 (57:32):
Do we not move?

Speaker 4 (57:33):
And their thing was, well, if the Giants, you know,
go quarterback here and then we're probably gonna have to
move up there. They didn't expected Landa to go to quarterback,
but they knew that they were able to sit tight
a little bit and not jump all the way up
to five and jump the Giants for a guy like
JJ McCarthy. So in the end, here Kevin O'Connell still
gets a guy that he really likes there without having
to mortgange a lot to get them.

Speaker 3 (57:54):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (57:55):
Five qbs in the top ten.

Speaker 3 (57:59):
And you'll have one more here in the next couple picks. Well,
the market is speaking, Yep, you'll have bone next year
in the next few picks.

Speaker 2 (58:07):
It's a quarterback league.

Speaker 3 (58:08):
It's a quarterback driven league.

Speaker 2 (58:10):
Sorry, LeVar, Oh no.

Speaker 3 (58:11):
We know it right.

Speaker 2 (58:12):
It's it's been that way for a while.

Speaker 3 (58:13):
It's good for hunters. Yeah, and.

Speaker 5 (58:17):
There you go, hunters and gatherers. You got to gather
the receivers, it's good for them, and you got to
hunt the quarterbacks. It's good for them.

Speaker 3 (58:23):
So isn't this amazing?

Speaker 4 (58:25):
No corner, no no backer like you, no defensive end,
no pass rusher, no three technique, zero, not one in
the top ten picks of this draft.

Speaker 3 (58:35):
Incredible.

Speaker 6 (58:35):
We knew, we knew all along it was going to
be a strong quarterback draft, beating back to last year.
I mean, it was going to be one of the
better drafts, you know, in years at that position. So uh,
I think the market speaks, like LeVar said, and I
think that, you know, just the fact that this year
is a number of guys who can actually play. I
don't think too many of them being pushed up the
board like here's years past.

Speaker 2 (58:55):
Draft Night Live on Fox Sports Radio with insider Jay Glazer,
former Cardinals GM Steve. I'm College Football Hall of Famer
LeVar Arrington and me Rob Stone, and we are broadcasting
live from the tire rack dot Com Studios. Tire Rack
dot com will help you get there an unmatched selection, fast,
free shipping, free road hazard protection, and over ten thousand

(59:15):
recommended installers. Tire rack dot com the way tire buying
should be. So we are waiting on Minnesota to make
their selection at number ten. Indication is clearly JJ McCarthy.
So the New York Jets now down to eleven. Any

(59:37):
read that you're getting right now on what the Jets
might be doing needs at tight end, safety, wide receiver, linebacker, cornerback.

Speaker 6 (59:46):
When do you think Jay Brock Bowers makes a lot
of sense here.

Speaker 3 (59:50):
At the Who are talking about Jets?

Speaker 2 (59:52):
Jets and eleven? I see you texting, I know, trying
to buy you times Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 3 (59:56):
The talent that they have on the outside already it's
win now.

Speaker 4 (59:59):
But they also need the offensive line, right so we
know that, and there's still you know, a guy like
Fuaga's a Penn State offensive line. There's still really good
offensive line. But yeah, bowersoh is a guy that man.
A lot of teams really love Bowers at what he
could do with their offense. I know teams are already
even talked to teams in the top ten about trading
up for a guy like Brock Powers, and I think
the Jets that were trying to you know, there was

(01:00:21):
a lot of smoke there whether or not you know,
they wanted to go with Brock Powers or not. But
it's uh, it'd be interesting here because I know the
Jets traded back once already. I wouldn't be surprised they're
talking to a couple of teams there who are still
quarterback needy.

Speaker 3 (01:00:38):
This till Denver teams, Denver, the Raiders.

Speaker 4 (01:00:40):
If they're still okay, let's talk to them and see
if they can even move back another selection or two.
I would not be surprised if the Jets are doing
that right now.

Speaker 2 (01:00:48):
You already moved down one, why not move down one more.
That's right, Denver sitting there at twelve, the Raiders sitting
there at thirteen, and we're stuck at number ten waiting
for the Vikings to pick JJ McCarthy to pick is in.
We're waiting confirmation for that in a moment, and then
the Jets at eleven.

Speaker 6 (01:01:03):
And that's a great place to be in for the
Jets because it's always a number game. If you're sitting
there as a GM and you see three guys that
you absolutely still love. And you have that many slots,
you can go back. I mean, why not.

Speaker 2 (01:01:12):
You're gonna get one one of your guys, and you're
gonna get some some good cachet. You already picked up
a fourth and a fifth round pick, and the deal
with the Vikings gave up a sixth, and that's just
to move down one spot.

Speaker 3 (01:01:26):
And again this was we always knew that.

Speaker 4 (01:01:28):
Minutes said, okay, they need a quarterback here, and everybody
assumed when they traded up to get a second first
round pick, they assumed it was to package those two
together to move all the way up. By the way,
that was never the case.

Speaker 2 (01:01:41):
Vikings also at number twenty three, right.

Speaker 4 (01:01:43):
They were never gonna give both those picks to move
all the way up. That was not the case. So listen,
I they still get their guy without having to do that.
The Jets are up next. I know they're taking phone calls.
I think in the end there they end up going offensive. Lineman,
I would think, you know, just from what I talked
to people inside the organization, I know it's between the
Penn State tackle and UH and then for Waga from

(01:02:05):
Oregon State. But in there I got the sense that
the kind of like the Penn State tackle a little
bit more for what he could do.

Speaker 5 (01:02:11):
Yeah, no sex giving up by the way, during his
tenure at at State, no none.

Speaker 2 (01:02:18):
Coming into this, he was like top five conversation.

Speaker 3 (01:02:21):
Yeah, absolutely, I.

Speaker 5 (01:02:22):
Feel like he's a steal. I've stayed quiet about him
just because of the obvious.

Speaker 3 (01:02:27):
Because of the obvious.

Speaker 5 (01:02:29):
But there was an argument LeVar the he was he
was going to be the first pick last year. Correct,
that was correct. That is correct. So yeah, whoever gets
him is not getting a loss, a flop. They're getting
a steal.

Speaker 3 (01:02:43):
So that's but I didn't want to go there. I'm
glad rob you.

Speaker 2 (01:02:47):
I'm here for you, thank you, here for you.

Speaker 3 (01:02:48):
We are.

Speaker 2 (01:02:49):
Let's hit Penn State. Let's recap the first round. Caleb
Williams as expected, going to the Bears. The Commanders then
picked up l s u QB Jaden Daniels. Patriots followed
it with another quarterback, Drake May out of North Carolina.
First receiver taken as expected, Marvin Harrison from Ohio State
to Arizona. The Chargers stood pat and went Big Joe

(01:03:10):
Alt offensive tackle Giants at number six, Molik Neighbors Titans,
JC Latham the tackle out of Alabama the Falcons at
number eight. A bit of a surprise, Michael Pennix, the
QB out of Washington, Odoonsay, the wide receiver to Chicago
at nine, the Vikings making a trade with the Jets
to move up one spot to number ten. And here's
the Minnesota pick.

Speaker 1 (01:03:32):
With the tenth pick, the Minnesota Vikings select JJ McCarthy,
quarterback Michigan, six foot three, two hundred and two pounds.

Speaker 2 (01:03:43):
So, as expected, the Vikings move up one spot to
pick up JJ McCarthy. We now have five quarterbacks taken
in the first ten picks.

Speaker 4 (01:03:51):
Real quick, guys, the Denver Broncos. You know the Jets
will go out there go tackle Denver Broncos. Did the
team that needs the quarterback. I don't see them moving off.
I will think they're the team that ends up taking
bone knicks and getting all six of those quarterbacks to
go on the top twelve.

Speaker 2 (01:04:04):
This draft Insane Draft Night Live on Fox Sports Radio
with insider Jay Glazer, former Cardinals GM, Steve Kaim, college
Football Hall of Famer LeVar Arrington, and me Rob Stone.
We'll be right back with the number eleven pick, which
is now owned by the New York Jets. The Jets
traded back one spot from ten to number eleven, and

(01:04:25):
LeVar is about to be a happy man. Here's the
Jets pick.

Speaker 1 (01:04:30):
With the eleventh pick, the New York Jets select Olu
muia Feshanu, tackle Penn State, six foot six, three hundred
and twenty one pounds.

Speaker 5 (01:04:43):
Exactly what he said, What that guy said, what that
guy said? You know, can I revisit the pick of
JJ McCarthy to the Vinnesota Vice? Sure?

Speaker 3 (01:04:54):
I just got to do this.

Speaker 5 (01:04:56):
Can you imagine a better opportunity? You saw how excited
he was when he got drafted.

Speaker 7 (01:05:03):
Let's see, uh, Jordan Addison, Sam Darnold, Justin Jefferson, mister Hawkinson,
and you just got Aaron Jones in your backfield and
Kevin O'Connell.

Speaker 3 (01:05:15):
And Kevin O'Connell.

Speaker 5 (01:05:19):
I would be remissed if I didn't say, how in
the world does JJ McCarthy find himself? And probably the
most advantageous situation of all quarterbacks in this draft.

Speaker 6 (01:05:35):
I don't think there's any doubt and that that's awful
help for a young quarterback. And I just saw on
the NFL network the comp for him was Alex Smith,
if that's the comp that's a pretty good car. Alex Smith,
whether that was a I don't know whether that was
a compliment or not. For me, it's a compliment. Yeah,
I think it's a huge complience. So here's the other
interesting thing. Because I never had J J.

Speaker 4 (01:05:56):
McCarthy. They thought, okay, one, two, three, four. I never
had it. I never thought there was going to happen.
I was even the giants. You guys thought. You know,
I always told you. I told you that. I always
thought Neighbors was going to go there too, so I
thought he was really going to kind of go down there.
I did still think here would be a top ten pick,
but not as high. But guys, I want to go
on to the next one. Okay, it's the Denver Broncos.

(01:06:17):
I told you to be six picks taken here in
the top half. He did say six, and bon Knicks
will end up being that next pick to Sean Payton,
the Denver Broncos and guys. Sean Payton has called me
the last forty eight hours about bon Nicks and he said, yeah,
I still want everybody to think we're going JJ McCarthy.
Bon Nicks has been my guy for the last two
months and he's a player. The night of his pro day,

(01:06:39):
they actually gave bon Nicks all these this this install,
all these players that he need to remember, and they
gave him a private workout the next day after.

Speaker 3 (01:06:48):
His pro day and they were all in beyond all
that now.

Speaker 4 (01:06:52):
He actually was just calling me about perhaps trading back
a couple of picks if he's able to. And he's like,
do you think anybody else wants me? You think anybody
else is up for bow Knicks? And I was like,
I think you're the guy. But after Michael Pennix went
to Atlanta, Sean Payton all of a sudden said, you
know what, I'm not gonna entertain moving back. This is
the guy I want. I'm not conn play in any other games.

(01:07:12):
He thought maybe he can get an extra three or
four something along those lines. He said, I'm just gonna
stay tight. He doesn't like this guy. He loves bo Knicks,
and I think bow Knick is if there's any team
we just talked about how great of a fit JJ
McCarthy is for Kevin O'Connell. I think if there's one
team that be a perfect fit for bow Knicks, it'd
be Sean Payton.

Speaker 5 (01:07:33):
He has been a quarterback whisperer and listen, bow Knicks
he's just one of those guys. From what I can gather,
a very mature, very very professional and his approach to
how he does things. And I wouldn't be surprised if
that's the pick because he has kind of like the
character traits of one Drew Brees, yeah, or real mature

(01:07:56):
and how he handles else.

Speaker 2 (01:07:58):
He's got great DNA's dad Patrick quarterback at Auburn a
long time. That's where was going to say, that's where
both started to at Auburn before transferring out last of Oregon,
and the pick is in the Broncos at number twelve.

Speaker 1 (01:08:13):
With the twelfth pick, the Denver Broncos select Bo Knicks,
quarterback Oregon six foot two, two hundred and seventeen pounds.

Speaker 2 (01:08:25):
Six quarterbacks have now been taken in Are you go
first twelve picks and all twelve picks? Then on the
offensive side of the.

Speaker 3 (01:08:34):
Ball, say Glazer, he's a magician. I'll tell you what.

Speaker 5 (01:08:38):
Bow Knicks is a fierce competitor. By the way the
guy makes, he makes great decisions, he brings He's one
of those guys when when I was watching because my
son's getting recruited about Oregon. So we've seen a couple
of their games, watching a lot of their games. He
is one of those guys that lifts the guys up
around him. If you need that leadership of we got this,

(01:09:02):
let's tune in, let's lock in, let's dial in.

Speaker 3 (01:09:05):
Bo Nicks. He's the type of guy.

Speaker 5 (01:09:07):
I heard his story, him and his I believe fiance
girlfriend wife one of the above. They actually babysat for
the Hey coach. He's one of those guys. So he's
not out there. You don't have anything to worry about
with him. Wholesome guy and he's going to work his
ass off in terms of how he approaches the game.

(01:09:29):
And that has been his reputation from all things given
that I've been able to gather and hear about him.

Speaker 2 (01:09:36):
There are a lot of hugs in the handshakes in
the Denver draft room right now, or seeing the reaction
from the draft party for Denver, so bo Nicks rising
rapidly up to number twelve to the Broncos. Who's up next?
Another team that needed a quarterback but is probably out
of luck at this point. The Raiders at number thirteen.

Speaker 4 (01:09:55):
Yeah, and the Raiders look when I was just talking
to them. Also, first of all, they are besides themselves
not getting a quarterback, and I think they were gonna
look at offensive line thinking a guy like.

Speaker 3 (01:10:03):
Brock Bowers be gone. But brock Bowers still there. Love
that pick. Prock Bowers is still there. Guys.

Speaker 4 (01:10:08):
I think the Raiders jump on the chance to get
a guy like brock Powers and they just didn't think
he'd be anywhere near available at that time, so they
weren't able to get a quarterback.

Speaker 3 (01:10:16):
They're looking to tackle.

Speaker 4 (01:10:17):
But it's still like maybe we trade back, But that's
thinking a guy like brock Bower.

Speaker 3 (01:10:22):
There's no better friend to a mediocre quarterback than an
elite tight end. You got that right.

Speaker 5 (01:10:26):
And he's he's like Jeremy Shaky elite, Like the guy
is special.

Speaker 3 (01:10:32):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (01:10:32):
He makes plays. And you know, the one thing I
loved about him and his game is he made plays
when they were needed, when they were necessary to make.
Brock Bauers was the guy that you can lean on
and you knew it was coming. So it's almost like
a Travis Kelcey type of situation. You know it needs
to be a play. You know who's going to get

(01:10:54):
the ball and he still gets it. That's a guy.
That's a guy.

Speaker 6 (01:10:59):
I mean, you see very few tight ends running reverses
and having a guy with his size and length to
have small man skills. I mean, he is a tremendous athlete,
probably one of the better tight ends to come out
in recent years.

Speaker 2 (01:11:09):
Hybrid guy tight end receiver type Led Georgian receiving each
of the past three seasons, did in this three games
and didn't play in a Bowl last season. A guy
that a lot of people really really like six three,
two forty three is brought Bauers on his way to
Las Vegas. The pick is in after the Raiders. It's
the Saints at fourteen.

Speaker 3 (01:11:28):
I know they're shocked about him in here, absolutely shocked.
The Raiders.

Speaker 2 (01:11:31):
Yeah, Saints at fourteen, Colts at fifteen, Seattle at sixteen, Jacksonville,
Cincinnati Rams, and Stealers. To wrap up the twenty again,
we have had twelve selections. All twelve of them have
been on the offensive side of the ball, and it
certainly looks like that trend will continue. The pick is

(01:11:54):
in for Vegas.

Speaker 1 (01:11:57):
With the thirteenth pick. The Las Vegas I Guess Raiders
brock Bowers, tight end Georgia, six foot three, two hundred
and forty three pounds.

Speaker 2 (01:12:09):
So the first Bulldog is taken. Brock Bauers selected by
the Las Vegas Raiders. Draft Night Live on Fox Sports
Radio with the insider Jay Glazer, former Cardinals GM, Steve Kahim,
the College Football Hall of Famer LeVar Arrington, and me Robstone.
We'll be right back with the fourteenth pick, which is
owned currently by the New Orleans Saints. The New Orleans

(01:12:32):
Saints pick is in at number fourteen. Overall, the thirteen
prior picks in this draft have all been offensive players.
Could it be fourteen straight? The Raiders just took brock Bowers,
the tight end out of Georgia, at number thirteen. The
Saints pick is in. We'll get that in just a moment.
Then it's the Indianapolis Colts at fifteen, followed by Seattle, Jacksonville, Cincinnati,

(01:12:57):
the Rams, Steelers, and Dolphins. Thirty two total teams set
to pick here in the first round. We're closing in
on the halfway mark, and offense clearly has been the theme,
as has quarterbacks. Six quarterbacks taken in the first twelve
The Saints are up next, and I'm sensing that offensive
theme is probably going to continue here. Guys.

Speaker 4 (01:13:20):
Absolutely, the Saints always we're looking at an offensive lineman
going in here, and they've kind of had look, Pashano
was kind of, I think a little bit higher than
they thought he was. They didn't ever think they'd have
a guy like fuagas in there. I know that with
him sitting out there, I know the Saints are gonna move.
Who's gonna jump all over that pick?

Speaker 2 (01:13:39):
The Oregon State Products sixty six three twenty four. It's
been a nice little showing from the PAC twelve early
on here with a lot of draft picks. Again, the
Saints pick is in. We're waiting on that one and
final I.

Speaker 4 (01:13:52):
Told you guys going in, Nicks, I tell you guys
also going in. I thought there'd be more offensive lineman
taking this first round than any draft ever before. And
look how many have already been taken and they're about
to be taken here by pick fourteen.

Speaker 2 (01:14:02):
Yes it would if it is Fuaga, it would be
four offensive linemen taken in the first fourteen picks against
six quarterbacks have been taken already. Wide receiver another strength
of this draft, we've seen three wideouts taken so far.
Still waiting on our first defensive player, and the Saints
pick is in.

Speaker 1 (01:14:23):
With the fourteenth pick, the New Orleans Saints select to
Lasi Fuaga, offensive tackle, Oregon State, six foot six, three
hundred and thirty four pounds.

Speaker 2 (01:14:35):
Second Team All American, First Team All Pack twelve this season.
He is the fifth PAC twelve player rest in peace.
PAC twelve, the fifth PAC twelve player taken here in
the first fourteen selections.

Speaker 5 (01:14:47):
Nasty, that's when you watched this Oregon State team and
it was a good team this year, very very competitive,
was really able to run the ball, and a lot
of it had to do with the physicality that they
brought up. And Telissi Fiaga, did I get that right?
I tell you what. And they're showing highlights of them

(01:15:08):
here in Senior Week. He did himself a tremendous service
by the way he performed in practices at Senior Week.
But one of those guys, he's strong, run blocks, very well,
solid players.

Speaker 3 (01:15:21):
Right guys.

Speaker 4 (01:15:22):
And this is the time of the draft that now
teams I know they're looking at they're looking at defensive players,
and I know the Colts were looking hard at some
of these defensive players. They had about three of them
sitting up there. They had Lot two sitting up there.
They had Dallas well, they not so much term but
the defensive tackle from Texas MS. The attorney's in there also,
but I know that they had a lot too. Is

(01:15:43):
their top defensive player. I think the Colts end up
breaking the drought here of defensive players. I think they
end up going with the first defensive play in the draft.
I think it'll end up in the pass rusher from
U c L a lot too. It's had some neck issues.
A lot of teams cleared him, some teams didn't. The
Colt Stadhams are top defensive player on the board. I
do think that that's the direction that they go. And guys,

(01:16:06):
I just want to say this too. Brock Powers, Okay,
Brock Bowers, when all the mock drafts came out, thought
he was gonna go top five, top six, right all
the way in there. I never thought that was gonna
be the case. But there were teams that thought he
dropped down later on in the top ten, and there
were teams that were calling Atlanta to move up to
try to get Brock Bowers. At least one team that

(01:16:27):
was calling called them earlier in the week, thought that
there's gonna be a legitimate shop to move up from
the teams all the way to Atlanta. Atlanta decide instead,
I'm we're gonna stay pat and not drop all the
way back down. For Michael Pennocks, Penix was the guy
they wanted all along and didn't think they're gonna be
able to drop all the way down and do that.

Speaker 3 (01:16:44):
But Bowers, for him to sit there for the Raiders,
that was huge.

Speaker 4 (01:16:48):
Really huge for you know, that kind of talent that
could really stretch the field. You could do so many
different things with him. Him running with the ball as
a tight end, he's not he's not really a tight end.
He's a different kind of weapon. He could do so
many different things with that offense.

Speaker 6 (01:17:01):
Yeah, and j for for you know, an organization ap
Tommy Telesco, the fan base probably all disappointed that they
missed out on a quarterback in the first round. Uh,
don't overthink it. So kudos to them to go ahead
and take the best player on the board, the guy
who's the most explosive game breaker as an offensive tight end,
a guy who can really really, in my opinion, could
be the type of player who could be offensive rookie

(01:17:23):
of the Year.

Speaker 2 (01:17:24):
So it would be Gardner Minshew or aide O'Connell throwing
the ball to Brock Bauers this season in Las Vegas,
at least the way things stand right now, So.

Speaker 3 (01:17:34):
You get excited.

Speaker 5 (01:17:34):
Do you guys get excited over that?

Speaker 3 (01:17:40):
Love them, love the guy, but do you have them?

Speaker 4 (01:17:42):
Look, I think you'll now start to having these defensive players.
I think Chris Ballard will take a lot to here.
I think the Seattle Seahawks sitting there probably never thought
that Byron Murphy would sit there at Texas defensive lineman
I tok Dell jump all over Byron Murphy. So I
think you'll start to see some defensive guys come off
the board that you'll have the top cornerback available. Still,
it could be Quinn and Mitchell could be sitting there

(01:18:04):
for Jacksonville. So I do think at least these next
two picks you'll have a lot too and Bira Murphy
going for Seattle.

Speaker 2 (01:18:10):
Colts on the clock nine to eight last year at
number fifteen, fall by Seattle, Jacksonville, Cincinnati Rams, Steelers, Dolphins
Draft Night Live on Fox Sports Radio with insider J Glazer,
former Cardinals GM, Steve Kaim, college Football Hall of Famer
LeVar Arrington, and me Rob Stone, and tonight we're finding

Expresspros dot Com waiting on Indianapolis's pick. They have under

(01:18:54):
three minutes to make it. They've missed the playoffs in
three straight seasons.

Speaker 4 (01:18:59):
And again I'm sold here on Latto going because I
just knew where his value was inside that room. And
you know, Lato is a guy who got medically retired,
so he's different than everybody else in this draft.

Speaker 3 (01:19:08):
Something he loved was.

Speaker 4 (01:19:09):
Taken from him, so he has a completely different appreciation
than everybody else in this trip.

Speaker 3 (01:19:15):
He never thought he's going to play football ever again.

Speaker 4 (01:19:17):
And he had in neck fusion there and man, he
went off, and I think it was I believe it
was Peyton, Manning's doctor or one of somebody who worked
with Peyton who said, no, I think we could do
something here with you, and got him back there. But look,
he was over there at UCLA with Chip Kelly and
he just had a completely different viewpoint of this game
than everybody else because what he loved was taken from

(01:19:37):
him a lot of times.

Speaker 6 (01:19:39):
You Jay, you look at those edge rushers that are
young like this, I mean, they're bendy, twitchy athletes that
really just don't understand how to rush yet with their
hands and their feet, this kid is really polished. This
guy understands how to rush the passer, how to set
up offensive lineman. He's really instinctive. I think this would
be a great pick for the Colts here and Chris Ballard.

Speaker 5 (01:19:57):
He's tall, I think he's what he's six ' five
is that six stands that's sixty five. It's a nice
size for an every down edge as well. Obviously you're
seeing the size of these offensive tackles that they're taking.
They're at six five six six, you know, six ' nine,
they're very very big, very long offensive lineman. How do

(01:20:19):
you combat that? You get a guy who understands leverage,
but also understands the fundamentals and the values of how
to get positioned on those types of long bodies. A
Lot Too used his length as as as an edge,
and to me, the way he executed his fundamentals, it
is interesting because I'll keep referencing back to my son.

(01:20:42):
He talks to to Lot Too quite a bit and
they communicate because they're both aged guys, and one of
the things that they talk about is just how you
use your length. He's a long guy, long arms, knows
how to keep you know, pugilist type of guy, knows
how to keep them away from them and but also
knows how to be closing the ground. And it is

(01:21:05):
a lot of understanding and knowledge and being a successful edge.

Speaker 3 (01:21:09):
Lot to show.

Speaker 5 (01:21:10):
This season that he's one of those types of guys
that he can move around as an X backer but
is really nice coming off of the edge.

Speaker 4 (01:21:17):
And a Lot Too, look, he didn't have one or
two moves. He has four or five moves with most
of these college guys don't have. So he's added the game.

Speaker 2 (01:21:25):
So we might have our first defensive player taken in
the draft here at number fifteen. The Colts, followed by Seattle, Jacksonville,
Cincinnati Rams, and the Steelers. So we've had fourteen picks.
All of them have been on the offensive side of
the ball. Will that change? At number fifteen?

Speaker 1 (01:21:45):
With the fifteenth pick, the Indianapolis Colts select they got
to la to edge. UCLA six five, two hundred and
sixty five pounds.

Speaker 2 (01:21:57):
Won the Lombardi Award last year as the nation's hop
collegiate offensive or defensive linemen. Also won the Ted Hendricks
Awards the nation's top defensive end. So finally, LaVar, you
got yourself a defensive player.

Speaker 3 (01:22:09):
Thank you lot too.

Speaker 2 (01:22:11):
Yeah, welcome too.

Speaker 3 (01:22:12):
Taken back to back your guy, Yeah, you got.

Speaker 2 (01:22:14):
A lot to move to. Seattle on the clock. Looks
like they're gonna go defensive. Draft Night Live on Fox
Sports Radio with insider Jay Glazer, former Cards, GM, Steve Kim,
College Football Hall of Famer LeVar Arrington, and me Rob
Stone will be right back with the Seattle Seahawks at
number sixteen. In their pick, the Colts just took lot

(01:22:37):
to the defensive edge from UCLA at number fifteen, the
first defensive player taken in this first round. Seattle is
on the clock. Their pick is in. It sounds like
that trend will continue following Seattle, It'll be Jacksonville, Cincinnati,
Los Angeles, Rams, Steelers, Dolphins, Eagles at twenty two, already
made a big signing today if you will, the Vikings

(01:23:00):
again at number twenty three, and then the Cowboys at
twenty four. You're expecting defense here from Seattle. What about Jacksonville?

Speaker 4 (01:23:08):
Since I want to get first of all, you still
have no corners left, so now you're getting some teams
that need cornerbacks, right, But I want to get back
to her. To Seattle and talking to John Stein as
the general manager and just draft Porch, and these teams
always say, I'll ask them about their value of who
they like, and they'll say, for us, are just overall.
I'll go both. But I said, but he said overall

(01:23:29):
man Byron Murphy's I think he was their top defensive
player on their board. But obviously he thought there's no
way he'll be to us. I just want you to
know where this guy goes. He was thinking top ten
type of pick. And for a guy like Byron Murphy
to still be sitting with the Seattle Seahawks again, just
knowing where they had him valued, it would make the
most sense that he goes next they take him off
the board.

Speaker 2 (01:23:49):
Murphy, the Texas product. I guess the only question about
him is height, yeah, six foot, but everything else.

Speaker 6 (01:23:56):
I mean leverage, baby, leverages, leverage, right, you know you're
talking about a pat has that kind of explosiveness and
leverage that certainly makes up for the limitations he has lengthwise.

Speaker 5 (01:24:06):
You look at the size of his legs. That engine.
He'll be able to push a line back, He'll be
able to force the double teams. You know, a guy's
that plays at the defensive tackle position, if they're able
to force a double team.

Speaker 4 (01:24:20):
Right, God, I'm being told there's another trade also. I'm
being told there's going to be a trade here with
the Minnesota Vikings again up to Jacksonville. Let me get
this confirm her.

Speaker 2 (01:24:33):
Hill's at seventeen, Minnesota's at twenty.

Speaker 4 (01:24:35):
I'm making a text right now here, guys, But I
believe the Minnesota Vikings are trading up with the Jacksonville Jaguars,
and I know if that's the case, they're going to
target a guy like Dallas Turner, who's also an edge
rusher there for the Alabama from Alabama, guys, I'm trying
to get confirmation here, but I'm being told that Minnesota Vikings,
who were sitting there at twenty three, I believe, are

(01:24:57):
trying to trade here at number seventeen with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Did they pull it off, Yes, Dallas Turner will end
up being their selection. Minnesota Vikings are trying to I
believe I've just made this trade.

Speaker 2 (01:25:09):
So the Vikings getting that number twenty three overall pick
from Cleveland through Houston trying to work their way up
a couple spots to number seventeen that's where Jacksonville is.
But the Seahawks their pick is in right now at
number sixteen overall. So as it stands right now, we're
waiting on the Seahawks and then the Jags, although that
could be the Vikings and then the Bengals, rams Steelers, Dolphins.

Speaker 3 (01:25:33):
The trade is being made and Eagles so.

Speaker 2 (01:25:35):
Trade in the works. It would be our second trade
of the night, and both of them would have involved
the Minnesota Vikings earlier, Minnesota moving up from eleven to ten.
It's one spot flip flopping with the Jets in Minnesota
getting their quarterback of the future JJ McCarthy at number
ten overall, McCarthy one of six quarterbacks that has been
selected already, and according to our sources, we are done

(01:25:58):
talking quarterbacks in the first round. But we'll see how
that goes, all right, the defensive run here we go.
The pick is in from Seattle.

Speaker 1 (01:26:07):
With the sixteenth pick, the Seattle Seahawks select Byron Murphy,
defensive tackle, Texas six foot one, three hundred eight pounds.

Speaker 2 (01:26:19):
Murphy just two total starts in his first two years,
and then last year second team All American and Big
Twelve Conference Defensive Lineman of the Year at the University
of Texas. So Murphy two straight defensive players. He goes
to Seattle.

Speaker 3 (01:26:35):
See again, Seattle was there.

Speaker 4 (01:26:36):
He was their top rated guy defensively on John Schneider's board.

Speaker 3 (01:26:40):
He was looking at offensive lineman.

Speaker 4 (01:26:41):
He was looking at defensive players, but never thought a
guy like Byron Murphy is gonna be there. Guys again,
Minnesota Vikings the next pick. They're going to trade up
here with the Jacksonville Jaguars. They're gonna end up taking
Dallas Turner. I'm told they're giving up. I think it's
picks from next year, like third and fourth rounders from
next year to move up I'm still trying to get
confirmation on that, but in talking to Kevin O'Connell earlier

(01:27:04):
in this week, Kevin actually talking to me about possibly
moving up with both picks, one for the quarterback and
one for defensive player. He was looking at guys like Peyton,
like Dallas Turner, who's looking at the guy also like
Byron Murphy if he was going to be there. The
Minnesota Viking is going to trade up here taken ed rusher,
help their defense move.

Speaker 2 (01:27:25):
Up six spots to number seventeen to take the jag
seventeenth pick.

Speaker 5 (01:27:29):
That young man Byron Murphy is sitting there, nerves of
blazing his under his armpitches is drenched. We need first
deal for my guy speed stick. Come on, let's go,
Let's get that thick degree something.

Speaker 2 (01:27:45):
Draft Night live on the sports radio. Ready to play
your anti purspont friend and College Football Hall of Famer
LeVar Arrington, former Cards GM, Steve Kaim, You're insider Jake
Lazer and me Rob Stone, and we are broadcasting live
from the Ti rack dot com Studios com. We'll help
you get there in unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free
road hazard protection and over ten thousand recommended installers ti

(01:28:09):
iraq dot com the way tire buying should be so
that trade is in in Minnesota. Boy, they have been
active today. Second time they have been able to move up.
The first was up one slot. This time they slide
up six to number seventeen with Jacksonville. It looks like
another defensive player could be taken. If so, that would

(01:28:31):
be our third straight.

Speaker 4 (01:28:33):
Yeah, Dallas Turner will go ahead. And they gave up
a third and fourth for next year, so they're starting
to even move off on you know, traff picks for
next year to try and load up again for this year.
Interesting you know strategy here for the Minnesota BA because
there was another selection from this year's draft including that
as well.

Speaker 2 (01:28:50):
So Dallas Turner appears to be the selection. If that
is the case, it will be the second Crimson Tide
player here. Steve, your assessment on how Minnesotyota has done
with these movements so far.

Speaker 6 (01:29:03):
Well, obviously to get your franchise quarterback and a guy
that they coveted, you know, obviously huge, But now Dallas Turner,
I mean a defensive pass rusher who is regarded as
maybe one of the most elite rushers in this draft.
Tremendous twitch, explosiveness, used to be a linebacker safety. This
guy can really run and close. He's still a little
raw and unpolished, but this guy has huge upside. So

(01:29:26):
to be able to get a pass rusher, I mean,
you think about what the Houston Texans did last year
with the quarterback and the pass rusher.

Speaker 3 (01:29:32):
This could be what the Minnesota Vikings just accomplished today.

Speaker 2 (01:29:35):
The pick is in and here's who Minnesota took at
number seventeen.

Speaker 1 (01:29:40):
With the seventeenth pick, the Minnesota Vikings select Dallas Turner
Edge Alabama, six foot four, two hundred and forty pounds.

Speaker 2 (01:29:53):
All American SEC Defensive Player of the Year and an
Alabama product. Kind of like Nuff said, right, Lavaran, you
put all those things on your resume. Yeah, I'll take
you in the first round easy.

Speaker 5 (01:30:04):
And he probably has a chip on his shoulder because
knowing us as defenders, we feel like we're always slight
of hand, right, And so you look at the way
he was walking on to the stage. It was really
that of you know what, I'm here, they call it
my name, let's get it, let's get right, And that's
just how we approach things. So I like the guys,
his mentality, I like his motor. He's very to me,

(01:30:27):
He's got a brightness about him. He understands the game. Generally,
when you see Alabama players, they understand the game. They
play with great leverage and intensity. I like the young
man's game. I think it's a great pickup for Minnesota Viking.

Speaker 4 (01:30:44):
And when I talked to teams about Dallas Turner, I said,
you know, look, obviously he played with Will Anderson last year.
Last year, and they said, yeah, I said, how do
you compare them? Like, no, no, no, no, no, no,
let's not get him mixed up here. Will Anderson is
a completely different beast on the next level. Dallas Turner
has a ton ofde has a lot of great stats there.
But man, Will Anderson is a He is a g

(01:31:04):
when it comes to a different level of how you are.
And but Dallas Turner, like, you know, we still think
he has room to get up to not just being
robbin to someone else's Batman, but batman in his own case.
But he got a little work to go.

Speaker 3 (01:31:17):
Now.

Speaker 4 (01:31:17):
It's interesting here, guys. Also because the Cincinnati Bengals, they
were just praying that Byron Murphy was going to drop down,
and here they are a couple of picks, and I've
been texting with people inside there and they're getting closer
and getting closer on but all of a sudden, Byron
Murphy went off the board there. So I think that
they make a little bound face, if you will, and
end up going offensive line with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Speaker 3 (01:31:37):
But man, how about Minnesota. How much they're on the
move today, Kevin.

Speaker 2 (01:31:42):
Kind of like Houston light compared to what they do.

Speaker 3 (01:31:45):
That's a good one, right, Yeah, yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 2 (01:31:47):
So the Bengals are on the clock right now.

Speaker 4 (01:31:51):
If Cincinnati goes offensive tackle, which I think they do,
who is your who do you slide in your best
for them?

Speaker 6 (01:31:57):
You know, I would probably say MEM's out of Georgia
would be good. He's, you know, big athletic guy. He's
He's got a little stiffness to him, but he a
dominant right tackle type that could probably move inside and
play guard as well.

Speaker 3 (01:32:07):
He could also probably be in the w W demot
He definitely could. He is a monster type. Yeah, I
liked it. I like him.

Speaker 4 (01:32:13):
I know they haven't really highly rated up there. Also
sowed a lot of other teams in that area. I
do like Mims for that pick for Cincinnati.

Speaker 2 (01:32:18):
I like that Steve Mims six eight three forty. Yeah,
that's WWE credentials. Curious though, Jay, I want you guys
take on this. The Bengals their defensive end, Trey Hendrickson,
he requested a trade yesterday, talking about he wants to
be a long term investment with the franchise. Received that
one year extension worth twenty one mil last year, which

(01:32:38):
included an eight mil signing bonus.

Speaker 3 (01:32:41):
Yeah. I don't see that happen. I don't see them trading,
but no real guarantee money on the contract. That's the problem.

Speaker 4 (01:32:46):
By the way, if I have the Cincinnati Bengals, Yeah,
I lock him up, absolutely, Yeah right, it's it's hard.

Speaker 3 (01:32:50):
To find guy.

Speaker 4 (01:32:51):
He's your best defense and he's a culture guy there also, Yes,
absolutely I do lock him up, and I don't play
hardball with him.

Speaker 5 (01:32:57):
Yeah, well, I turn him off. I mean he's been
a leader for you, He's been a catalyst for your defense.
Herbert hubber Is has learned a ton from him. Why
why turn the guy off. He's got a lot of
good football ahead of him. I would, I would do
right by him.

Speaker 6 (01:33:11):
There are some teams guys that are a little more
protective of their cash.

Speaker 3 (01:33:14):
Flow, and and Cincinnati happens to be you would know
what that's like experience.

Speaker 4 (01:33:27):
Also men's guys at the combine. First of all, he
is again six almost six foot eight, three hundred and
what Steve's three hundred forty right, But he's solid, He's
not not a flabby. I mean, like I said, he
looks like he's w W stud It's unbelievable. And he
didn't play a lot in college, so obviously everybody looks

(01:33:47):
and goes, Okay, he didn't play a lot. When he did,
he was dominant. But we could sit there and coach
him up in the right way. He could be just
something you really hasn't seen. He's just said he's had
some successful guys like that in the past.

Speaker 2 (01:33:57):
You know, talking about mari Is, the offense lineman from Georgia.

Speaker 3 (01:34:01):
They ran a five oh four something to the combine.

Speaker 4 (01:34:03):
Amost watch watching and going you gotta be kidding, like,
dude like this should not be able to move like that.

Speaker 2 (01:34:08):
Looks like he's going number eighteen overall to Cincinnati. You
talked about the lack of playing time his freshman year
eight games as a reserve. When Georgia won the national
title twenty twenty two fourteen games, which starts at right
tackle in the semi final in the title game. Last
year seven game six starts at right tackle, had that
ankle injury. The what do they call the tight ropes

(01:34:30):
right was able to return for the final three regular
season games, one of the nation's top offensive linemen. Again,
maybe we're getting back to that offensive theme after we
had three straight defensive players. So Cincinnati their pick is
in at number eighteen, and then.

Speaker 3 (01:34:43):
It's the Rams end up going back defensive guys.

Speaker 2 (01:34:45):
Then it's the Rams at night from here, followed by
the Steevens. I know where they liked shop as Lurkin
Matt oh No, I'll tell.

Speaker 4 (01:34:54):
You what they did like guys, because I know what
it was. You know they had They did have and
Murphy up there as their top the linemen, and they
had Verse up there really high as well. They did
like who Minnesota just took. But they're like Verse from
Florida State also. But you know Rams from one of
the teams I was talking about. I was looking up
potentially going after a guy like Bowers. They're sitting here

(01:35:14):
just knowing because I talked to Sean McVay a lot
this week where he had Verse, who he did like,
and he loved what he was able to do with him.
Really like him and Fisk over there at Florida State
really play well off each other. So Verse was kind
of the next guy who they had in line over
there to help that defensive line that just lost Aaron Donald.
So again, just knowing what I've talked about with him,

(01:35:34):
that's I think that's who I believe he'll target.

Speaker 6 (01:35:36):
And they got to add some some young talented rushers
to their front seven, you know, obviously with Aaron Donald's
lost and some of the other guys they've lost them
in the last few years. I mean, this guy is
a He is a powerful pass rusher, and I think
he started off at Albany and then transferred to Florida State.
But he can He's probably the second best pass rusher
in this draft in my estimation. A little stiff and
tight wound, but he is explosive and he can really go.

Speaker 5 (01:36:00):
Robinson that's the that's the best pass rusher outside of
the guy that just went in, uh Dallas Turner.

Speaker 3 (01:36:09):
I think those two are the Pittsburgh.

Speaker 4 (01:36:11):
Go offensive line. Also, by the way, so I know
you're talking about Chappa Robinson. Yeah, and you're sitting there, go.

Speaker 3 (01:36:15):
Oh man, they went Joey Porter, Junior Lezard.

Speaker 4 (01:36:17):
Could he end up staying in the state now, just
talking to Mike Tomlin earlier today, he was definitely going
offensive line, the line.

Speaker 3 (01:36:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:36:23):
And I also know, like you know, they had a
Washington's offensive tackle up pretty high and he'll he's still
sitting there. I think that's who. So I think here
Cincinnati again, we know they're gonna end up going Mimes Rams.

Speaker 3 (01:36:36):
They'll end up going first.

Speaker 4 (01:36:38):
See steel Steelers, I think end up going Fontaneu from Washington.

Speaker 3 (01:36:43):
Let's keep rolling.

Speaker 2 (01:36:43):
You talk about chop Tampa Bay lurking there at number
twenty six. They would be licking their chops to get
shopped there. Drafted Night Live on Fox Sports Radio with
insider Jay Glazer, former Cards gmc kaim, college Football Hall
of Famer LeVar Arrington, and me Rob Stone. Tonight, we're
finding out who will be going pro with Express Pros,
the official employment agency of Fox Sports Radios. Draft Night Live.

You's hired a feeling alone in your job search, Well,

That connection it is express employment professionals. Don't go alone,

Once again, that's expresspros dot Com. Cincinnati nine and eight

(01:37:28):
last season, sitting there at number eighteen. Their pick is
in coming up after the Bengals, the Rams, Steelers, Dolphins, Eagles,
and then Jacksonville at twenty three. Member Jacksonville and Minnesota
just flip flopped their picks, Minnesota moving up to number
seventeen to take Alabama's defensive end Dallas Turner. So now

(01:37:51):
it is Cincinnati and do we have the run on
offensive players to start up again? After three straight defensive
players were taken, The pick is in for Cincy.

Speaker 1 (01:38:02):
With the eighteenth pick, the Cincinnati Bengals select Amarius Mims,
offensive tackle six foot seven, three hundred and forty pounds Georgia.

Speaker 2 (01:38:14):
So back to back SEC talents taken Dallas Turner to
Minnesota at seventeen, who moved up, and the Bengals taking Mims,
the offensive lineman from Georgia, Rams, Steelers, Dolphins, Eagles, Vikings
coming up next Draft night Live on Fox Sports Radio
with the insider Jay Glazer the College Football Hall of
Famer LeVar Arrington, former Cardinals GM, Steve Kim and me,

(01:38:36):
Rob Stone.

Speaker 3 (01:38:36):
We will be.

Speaker 2 (01:38:37):
Right back with the La Rams at number nineteen. Well,
the Los Angeles Rams are about to do something they
haven't done since twenty sixteen, make a first round pick.
That year they tabbed Jared Goff here, so they get
in twenty twenty four.

Speaker 1 (01:39:01):
With the nineteenth pick, the Los Angeles Rams select Jared Verse,
Edge Florida State, six four, two hundred and forty eight pounds, spent.

Speaker 2 (01:39:13):
His first three years at Albany and then transferred first
team All acc in twenty twenty two and twenty three
and the second team All American last year at Florida
State was Jared Verse sixty four two point fifty four
going to the Rams at number nineteen. Steelers are up
next at number twenty.

Speaker 3 (01:39:33):
Guys. The other night, I sat there with Sean McVay.

Speaker 4 (01:39:35):
We went over all these these prospects, and Jared first
came up and he said, look, he's the type of
guy works his butt off, loves that really smart. But
he compared to Matthew Judah. To me, that's Matthew June.
He said, Matthew Jordan not he's not a quick twitch
type of guy. But Judah will set you up and
set you up, and set you up and just keep
coming come and just kind of break you down all
game long. And that's he said, the type of player

(01:39:56):
that a guy like Verse was. He's like, you know,
really good for like that elephant be a type of thing.
He's almost like an old school light right guys like
left def intive and type of guy. So he's not
gonna kill you with this flash of their speed, but
he likes the way. He'll just keep being relentless as
time goes on.

Speaker 6 (01:40:10):
Well, when you look at great rushers in the NFL,
J I mean, it's nice to have all that flare
and explosiveness and that sort of thing. If you don't
have speed to powers your core, you're not going to
be a great rusher. So you have to have that
as your base.

Speaker 5 (01:40:21):
I'm gonna give you a couple of names. Hopefully I
don't mess it up, do y'all? Remember the name Renard.

Speaker 3 (01:40:27):
Wilson, Cincinnati, right play for who FSU. There you go.
There's another name by the name of Andre Wadsworth. FSU.

Speaker 5 (01:40:39):
It comes across to me as almost like a Derek Alexander,
A Wadsworth of Renard Wilson, a throwback version of an
FSU defensive lineman. It's not very flashy, but they're strengthen
the hips. There's explosion through the hips and and he's

(01:41:00):
not you know, he's he's quick, but he's not going
to be one of those elusive types of guys, but
will be technically to me, he will.

Speaker 3 (01:41:10):
Be sound, but just not flash.

Speaker 5 (01:41:14):
When I think of juwdon I think that that's a
guy that can kind of run right past you can
can always be close to the ball, type of player
makes big plays. I'd be curious to see if if
verse has that big play ability like a Jude A
Judon in the at the next level.

Speaker 3 (01:41:35):
That was that was his comp that was cos Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:41:37):
And again you know there's still got the craziest part
about this And Pittsburgh guysn't telling you again he's they're gonna.

Speaker 3 (01:41:44):
Go offensive line. We have not had a cornerback taken,
not one.

Speaker 4 (01:41:50):
There won't be in the top twenty because Steelers running
up going offensive line, which I talked to Mike Tomlin
earlier today, He's like, whatever the best offensive lineman left
is for us, and it's clear. Fouteau from Washington ran,
I know there's some injury concern for some some teams,
but a lot of other teams didn't have it, so
that's pretty clear. But there has not been a corner
taken in the top twenty, which is unreal.

Speaker 3 (01:42:12):
That is crazy.

Speaker 2 (01:42:13):
Philly could use a corner and they're sitting there at
number twenty two, followed by Jacksonville at twenty three.

Speaker 4 (01:42:20):
Philadelphia makes all the sense in the world. And they
had a ton of corners in there, and they were
actually Philadelphia was trying earlier today to trade up their trying.
I think they thought that one of these guys would
be gone. But also, guys, there's way better talent available
right now than you thought. I think any of us
kind of thought there's really good value down there.

Speaker 3 (01:42:42):
Again.

Speaker 2 (01:42:43):
Pittsburgh ten and seven last year, the story about them,
the transformation their quarterback room underwent in the spring. Russell
Wilson is in, Justin Fields is in, Kenny Pickett, Mason,
Rudolph Out, Arthur Smith is in biggest need offensive tackle.
A lot of people would say, it looks like that's
where the Steelers are going to head and their pick
is in, followed by Miami at twenty one, Philly at

(01:43:06):
twenty two, Jacksonville at twenty three after trading down with
Minnesota Cowboys at twenty four, Packers at twenty five, Bucks
at twenty six, Jay anything, your phone is telling you
that we should be thinking about in the next five
to seven picks.

Speaker 4 (01:43:22):
I think you'll start seeing cornerbacks go here pretty soon.
I think you'll start seeing that next wave of wide
receivers go here. But look, a lot of these teams
still in that that back camp. Also in this last
ten still liked offensive linemen. So I think you'll even
see the other offensive. You haven't had the top center
go yet. You haven't had you know, a bunch of
these guards, like I think fat No, he's you know,

(01:43:43):
he's like six to three, he can move over to guard.
Right the Arizona tackle. People are saying, maybe tackle or guard.
Also the duke center guard like, so, I think you'll
start seeing that also. But I do think at some
point you're gonna have a corner taken here in the
next couple of picks.

Speaker 2 (01:43:54):
Yep, looks like we'll have another offensive lineman taken here
in another player from Washington and Washington well represented so
far here in the first round, they had back to
back Husky's going Falcons with that surprise pick of Michael
Pennix at number eight. Then the Bears followed it with Odoonsay,
the wide receiver also from Washington. Could be seeing our

(01:44:16):
third Husky taken in the first twenty picks. As the
Pittsburgh Steelers are on the clock, their pick is in.
We're waiting on that one. The Dolphins, Eagles, Vikings, Cowboys, Packers,
Buccaneers are set to follow again the big theme offensive
players first. I'm doing my math. Fourteen picks went to

(01:44:40):
the offensive side. Six quarterbacks taken in the first twelve
bow Knicks going number twelve to the Denver Broncos. And
now the Steelers look like they're going to go big
upfront to protect whoever's going to be their quarterback.

Speaker 4 (01:44:54):
They'll be both of them, they'll be their quarterback. I
don't think they're cann just go with Russell Wilson. I
know they're going to look for Russell Wilson. Is gonna
have Justin Fields going there as well. Again, you do
with Justin Fields at the Saints did with Tyson Hill,
Taysom Hill. So I think you'll have kind of a
quarterback tandem in there if Russell can keep it together.

Speaker 5 (01:45:11):
May Cam Hayward looking more like his daddy every day. Man,
they ain't announcing this twentieth.

Speaker 3 (01:45:17):
That's a good man right there, Oh.

Speaker 5 (01:45:18):
Craig Head, ironhead Hayward. Yeah, Cam is an awesome guy.

Speaker 3 (01:45:23):
Gray Man right there.

Speaker 2 (01:45:24):
Absolutely Hayward at the podium to make the selection for
the Pittsburgh Steelers at number twenty. We talked about the
change in the quarterback room.

Speaker 4 (01:45:35):
And again we're talking offensive line here, and you know
after Fat Noah, that's when there's you know, there's a
big drop off. And I think if there's a surprise,
a Marius Mems going up above him as.

Speaker 3 (01:45:47):
Probably the surprise there, right.

Speaker 4 (01:45:49):
I think we kind of looked at Mems in the
in the twenties, so that was a little bit of
a in a little surprise there. And I think Pittsburgh
sitting here saying, wow, we have this guy Fano sitting
here at twenty just knowing again talking to Mike Tomlin.
They jumped all over it.

Speaker 2 (01:46:04):
And the pick is in for the Steelers at number twenty.

Speaker 1 (01:46:08):
With the twentieth pick, the Pittsburgh Steelers select Troy Fautanu,
guard Washington, six four, three hundred and seventeen pounds.

Speaker 2 (01:46:20):
He is our sixteenth offensive player selected here in the
first round. Again, the record nineteen offensive players taken in
the first round, it's happened three times, and that record
is in serious jeopardy.

Speaker 5 (01:46:33):
Nana looked very comfortable and relaxed on the coup. Your
baby just had trapped it. So here's the thing about no.

Speaker 4 (01:46:41):
Though, guys, there was just skill wise, man, he is
up there, but there was medical concerns about him as
ankle that is neither certain things about him. So certain
teams took him off. Other teams said, and we're not
as concerned. Other team said to me, he's gonna need
some clean up there. But when you have a talent
like that, for a guy like Mike tom Linman, you
had to go for him.

Speaker 3 (01:46:59):
There's no doubt.

Speaker 6 (01:47:00):
I mean, this guy, to me, you know, not only
can he play left tackle because of his feet and
his athleticism. Uh, you know, he's a guy to me
that could potentially be an inside prospect at the next level,
will even be a potential pro pro Bowl guard. I
mean he's six oh three seven, which is sort of
right at the cutoff when you start looking at length tackle. Yeah,
but he has got the feed and the explosiveness to

(01:47:20):
the sort of uh cater to his strengths, which is
again his athleticism, is ability on the move, and his
ability to play downfield.

Speaker 5 (01:47:27):
That entire offensive front had a rough go of it
against Michigan and that that's that's the National Championship game,
including him. I'm interested to see and and looking at
what his potential is. Is he a day one starter
for one? And if he is a day one starter,

(01:47:48):
how will he hold up at that size in the
AFC North. The AFC North is a very very black
and blue UH division and and that is going to
be a very interesting maybe development to watch and see
how quickly can he integrate into being a starter, which

(01:48:10):
he may be a day one starter, but it would
be interesting to see if he integrates that well and
that quickly into that offense.

Speaker 4 (01:48:18):
I got good news for you, all right, You're not
gonna wait much longer for Chop Robinson.

Speaker 3 (01:48:21):
And well, it's great.

Speaker 2 (01:48:22):
To hear Miami Dolphins. You're on the clock and you
may be getting a Nitney lyon the Dolphins at twenty one.
The Eagles at twenty two, Jacksonville at twenty three. There
will be two hundred and fifty seven picks in this
year's draft and we are only twenty deep right now.

Speaker 5 (01:48:37):
I've never been to a Miami Dolphins game, so this
would be good.

Speaker 2 (01:48:41):
This Draft Night Live on Fox Sports Radio with insider
Jay Glazer, College Football Hall of Famer LeVar Arrington, former
Arizona Cardinals GM, Steve Kim and me Rob Stone, and
tonight we are finding out who will be going pro
with Express Pros, the official employment agency of Fox Sports
Radio's Draft Night Live. Tired of feeling alone in your
job's hurts? Well, with just one connection, you can find

(01:49:04):
endless job opportunities. That connection is Express Employment Professionals. Don't
go alone. Visit Expresspros dot com to find the location
nearest you. That's Expresspros dot Com. We are waiting on
Miami at number twenty one. Their pick is in and Jay.
The indications are it's defensive and one that will make

(01:49:27):
a certain analyst next to me happy.

Speaker 5 (01:49:33):
Well, I'll tell you this. I thought we were going
to break. I'll tell you this. Chop Robinson, if you
ask me, is one of the guys that will shock
and surprise. Once he gets an opportunity his bend. It's
almost like he's already built naturally low to the ground.

(01:49:56):
He's got kind of like those von Miller type, the
von Miller type of lower bottom. He can bend, and
he bends very well. He's he's deceptively strong, he's deceptively quick.
I would have thought he would have went earlier than this,
if I'm being honest. I know you guys are talking
about maybe there are some better guys, or there's some

(01:50:17):
better guys earlier in terms.

Speaker 3 (01:50:20):
Of on the defense side of the ball.

Speaker 5 (01:50:22):
But I would have thought he would have gone a
little bit earlier, just based off of the production that
I saw out of him and what his skill sets
called for. In today's NFL, you need guys who cannot
only defeat the point of attack, but can also have
enough to get there, enough gas to get to some
of these these these players that that they're going to

(01:50:44):
be going up against.

Speaker 4 (01:50:45):
So I have three different coaches said, I mean, Chop
Robinson of all these guys, will be the best defensive
player in this draft. He will be a force for
years and years and years. And I said, but okay,
why we're in his stats. Better if he's so great,
They said, it's not that he had as many sacks,
but he caused so many disruptions of an offense. They

(01:51:06):
had to do so many things to stop him. So yeah,
it was the hurries, was everything else, messing messing up
somebody else's offensive game plan. He said he was responsible
for destroying game plan after game plan, so they didn't
care as much about the sacks.

Speaker 5 (01:51:22):
Penn State is one of those few schools that have
a very very active rotation in their defensive front. So
no matter how good you are, no matter how productive
you are, you're getting subbed out. You're not going to play.
It's not like some of these other schools where you're
going to play the entire game and every once in

(01:51:44):
a while they're going to spell you. They are actively
rotating that defensive front. And I would even go as
far as to say sometimes maybe a little bit too much,
you know, I don't want to be critical of my
ama mater too bad, but certainly would be the reason
why he may not have the type of stat line
that people may want. But if you look at his

(01:52:06):
pound for pound, play for play, what he's doing production wise,
it's off the chart, but.

Speaker 6 (01:52:11):
I mean he listened the bore. He has got the
best get off in this draft. I mean it's an
e least lead first step. He's got the end, you know,
I know, the elite sack numbers were not there yet.
At the same time, think about Willie Anderson last year.
His sack numbers were not a lead either, and he
had a tremendous rookie season.

Speaker 5 (01:52:31):
I like Chop Robinson. I mean I'm not just saying
that because he's a Penn Stater. I'm saying he started
off as a Marilynd Terrapin, by the way, but his
ability to sniff out plays and sniff out the ball
is an uncanny type of trait that you love to
see in a defender, and especially in two days NFL,

(01:52:53):
you need a guy like that that can get to
the quarterback and that game.

Speaker 4 (01:52:56):
I guess Michigan where they just hand the ball off
and hand the ball up and is one of my
guys says because of Chop Robinson.

Speaker 3 (01:53:02):
That was just because of him.

Speaker 5 (01:53:05):
I could have got ugly pretty quickly. I mean he
has some pretty big plays earlier.

Speaker 3 (01:53:08):
Early on those two third down plays right in a row.

Speaker 2 (01:53:10):
Yeah, Miami looking for that difference making defensive tackle they
lost Christian Wilkins. Is Chop Robinson. The pick is Chop Robinson,
the guy who's gonna fill that void. The pick is
in for the Dolphins at twenty one.

Speaker 1 (01:53:25):
With the twenty first pick, the Miami Dolphins select Chop
Robinson Edge Penn State, six foot three, two hundred and
fifty pounds.

Speaker 2 (01:53:37):
So the second Nitney Lyon in the first round is
picked up by the Dolphins. Chop Robinson heading to South Beach.
Coming up next the Eagles at number twenty two. Will
we finally see a cornerback taken?

Speaker 3 (01:53:48):
Maybe?

Speaker 2 (01:53:48):
And then Jacksonville at twenty three, Cowboys, Packers, Bucks, and
Cardinals Draft Night Live on Fox Sports Radio with the
insider Jay Glazer, former Cardinals GM, Steve Kaim Kyle, Football
Hall of Famer LeVar Arrington, and me Rob Stone. We
will be back with the Eagles at number twenty two.

(01:54:10):
Philadelphia Eagles are on the clock. Their pick is in
eleven and six. Last year already tonight, they agreed to
a three year, ninety six million dollar extension with wide
out aj Brown. But the GM, Howie Roseman, knows he
needs to improve that secondary and all indications are that
is where the Eagles focus will be.

Speaker 4 (01:54:29):
Yeah, they brought in all these cornerbacks in the last
couple of weeks here, that's who their target was, and
they were trying to trade up earlier today pretty aggressively.
Also thinking the guy like Quinya and Mitchell. You know, man,
if we can go up and get the top corner
of the draft on most teams boards, they're gonna try
and do it. They don't have to because a cornerback
has not been taken yet. Just knowing what their board is,

(01:54:49):
I think they go Quinna Mitchell here.

Speaker 3 (01:54:52):
Is that a record like this has been a really
long time, has be a record no corner's taking after it?

Speaker 2 (01:54:57):
Yeah, yeah, the first corner at twenty two. The concerns
about Mitchell Steve the program he came from Toledo and
how you properly grade somebody from a school like that.

Speaker 6 (01:55:08):
Yeah, I mean there's always, you know, the body of
work that you have to look at. But at the
same time, the one thing that this kid did to
really make a mark was he played exceptional to Senior Bowl.
So he went down there with the best players. He
tested well, He's got tremendous size, he can play on,
he can play off. He's got great anticipation, he's really humble,
he's a good character kid. Every scout I talked to,

(01:55:28):
every GM I talked to, said he was a great interview.
This kid, I think is going to be a really
good pick for Howie Roseman and the Eagles.

Speaker 4 (01:55:33):
Yeah, I mean, I think I know they're shocked that
he's sitting here. They didn't think absolutely. And look, he
was being talked about even Atlanta, even with the Penox thing.
What had mentioned Atlanta? Yeah, all the way up there
right at eight, right, So this was the guy that
they were seeing. Man if we can move up for
and here they are twenty two and he's still there.
They're gonna jump on him.

Speaker 3 (01:55:54):
He's in.

Speaker 2 (01:55:55):
Here's who the Eagles take.

Speaker 1 (01:55:58):
With the twenty second. The Philadelphia Eagles select quinnyon Mitchell.
Cornerback Toledo six foot, one hundred and ninety six pounds.

Speaker 2 (01:56:10):
Talked about that speed and his excellent senior Bowl had
the second fastest forty yard dash of all the corners
at the combina four to three three? Is this are
proverbial run on corners about to begin? It's starting to
feel like that for sure, Quinyan Marshall from Toledo the
first cornerback taken at number twenty two by Philadelphia. Up
next the Jacksonville Jaguars, who traded down from seventeen to

(01:56:33):
number twenty three with the Vikings. So Jacksonville set to
make their first pick, and then the Cowboys at twenty four,
Packers at twenty five, Buccaneers at twenty six.

Speaker 3 (01:56:43):
Cowboys.

Speaker 4 (01:56:44):
We're hoping for offensive line again. You're starting to see
how many offensive linemen already went there. But there's still
great value for where they're sitting. Guys they thought weren't
gonna be there, But you're right. I think these corners
now look Quinn, you Mitchell's I would say, Steve, but
the cleanest guy in the trap as far as like
everybody thinking he had the least amount of marks on him,
his game, his character, everything right. The only thing was

(01:57:05):
small school. But sort of Sauce Gartner small school as well.

Speaker 6 (01:57:08):
Listen, there's been a lot of corners that have had
success from small schools. We had a guy named DRC
from Tennessee State. Yes, success. I mean you look at
the NFL Hall of Fame and you see the corners
that are put in every year and you'll see anywhere
from Liberty to you know, Jackson State, you name it.
But this guy is a clean prospect. He can play
owner off. As I said earlier, he can really run.
His anticipation is tremendous. He's had twenty breakups in two years.

(01:57:31):
I really like this guy. I think he was the
top corner in the draft, and I think quite quite
a pick for Philliate with twenty two great.

Speaker 4 (01:57:37):
Speed, two guys four to three to three at the combine, really,
you know, open up a lot of eyes there. And
he's also like he was a guy that like coming
out in high school to college, like nobody's recruiting him.
He was I think the one hundred and sixtieth cornerback
in the country and like two fifty two sixty whatever
play like nobody thought about. So he knows how to work,

(01:58:00):
he knows how to come and build himself up and
stayed at that program.

Speaker 3 (01:58:04):
Also, I love this pick for Philadelphia. You know, I've
heard a lot about Quinna.

Speaker 5 (01:58:08):
I haven't seen a lot of Mitchell's film, but I'll
tell you it sounds as though from what we could
gather information wise from the Senior Bowl that he definitely
translates his game translates to that next level. So it'd
be interesting. I'd defer to you guys on this one.
But from all things I've heard, it was between him

(01:58:30):
and Terry and to be the first corners taking.

Speaker 6 (01:58:33):
So yeah, and when you think about it, guys, I mean,
the one thing to have a corner, the first corner
pick to twenty two is just I mean, it's amazing
to me, you know, because you think about free agency.
I always generally try to compare free agency to the
draft when it comes to what players are available in
free agency. Very rarely do you see top tier corners,
edge rushers, offensive tackles. Those guys are the ones who

(01:58:54):
are getting paid and getting paid early by their organizations.
Hard to believe a guy who was the first off
the board as a corner to right and guys, look, we.

Speaker 4 (01:59:01):
Talked about receivers earlier on and Jacksonville. I know going
into this too, they were looking at corner. They're looking
a receiver, and all sudden we forgot about receivers, right,
we just forgot about.

Speaker 3 (01:59:09):
Them, And now you have a whole bunch it.

Speaker 4 (01:59:11):
You'd say, okay, there's a grab bag after those top
three guys, but each team had like a favorite at four, LeVar,
do you like as the next guy off the board?

Speaker 3 (01:59:19):
There for the receivers, let me see that piece of
paper we've had.

Speaker 2 (01:59:23):
Marvin Harrison gone at number four to Arizona, Neighbors, number
six to the Giants and odonsday number nine to the Bears.

Speaker 3 (01:59:31):
All right, so who are the best left?

Speaker 2 (01:59:34):
Mister rob Stone, Texas has got some dudes, so does lsu.

Speaker 3 (01:59:37):
What's his name, Brian.

Speaker 2 (01:59:38):
What Thomas Junior?

Speaker 3 (01:59:39):
Here we go. That's what we're going with.

Speaker 5 (01:59:40):
You know why, because the wizard handed me, well, but
the magician handed me the cheat sheet, So we're gonna
go with Brian Thomas Junior. I feel good about that.
Whether I felt good about it or not, that's what
it's going to be. Because you know what, my man,
I've learned doing this show that you don't you don't

(02:00:01):
try to swamp him.

Speaker 3 (02:00:02):
So yeah, and I like this pick.

Speaker 5 (02:00:04):
You know this, this is a he's he's he's a
big body. And you talk about neighbors. Uh, that's all right, neighbors. Uh,
the two the two of them. This was number eleven.
I believe he's number eleven. That's obviously stick City, Uh
that's how I remember him. But he stretches the field.
He he can give you that that deep threat that

(02:00:26):
you need. And for someone like uh, Prince Charming himself
to have a a guy that can stretch the field
like a Brian Thomas, I think he'll be a positive
addition to this team.

Speaker 2 (02:00:40):
If he is selected, he will be the fourth wide
receiver taken again Jacksonville.

Speaker 3 (02:00:44):
The pick is in the old school neck brace? Yes, well,
has he got the old school neck break?

Speaker 2 (02:00:53):
He had He had a wrestling incident on on his
ae W show yesterday. He got, Yeah, we're on radio.

Speaker 4 (02:01:01):
You have to say what we're talking actor we're doing
talking about. I'm talking about Tony Kahan, Tony Connho's the
one of the owners. His father owns the Jacksonville Jaguars,
either top executive, and they're also sitting there on TV
with a big neck brace. On also owns aw wrestling.
And that's what we're all talking.

Speaker 3 (02:01:17):
About, old school cushion neckbrace.

Speaker 2 (02:01:20):
So Draft Night Live on Fox Sports Radio with the
College Football Hall of Famer LeVar Arrington, former Cardinals GM
Steve Kahin, and Fox Sports Radio insider Jay Glazer. I'm
Rob Stone. Tonight we're finding out who will be going
pro with Express Pros, the official employment agency of Fox
Sports Radio's Draft Night Live. And the pick is in

(02:01:41):
for Jacksonville.

Speaker 1 (02:01:44):
With the twenty third pick, the Jacksonville Jaguars select Brian Thomas,
junior wide receiver LSU six foot four, two hundred and
five pounds.

Speaker 2 (02:01:56):
Third LSU player taking in fourth wide receiver overall, Brian Thomas.
The wide out from the Bayou heads to Jacksonville. Up
next the Dallas Cowboys. Have I mentioned that the number
one center Graham Barton from Duke is still out there.
That's a guy that Dallas has to have their eye on,
as well as some others following Dallas. It's Green Bay,

(02:02:18):
Tampa Bay, Arizona, and Buffalo.

Speaker 4 (02:02:21):
Yeah, both Dallas and Green Bay have a bunch offensive
line and they didn't think would be there right now.

Speaker 3 (02:02:25):
That's a hit where they're going. That's a hint, no
line going going back to olone.

Speaker 2 (02:02:30):
Huh yep, yep, all right, Well, the offensive themes looks
like it might be kicking back in so Minnesota getting
or I'm sorry, Jacksonville getting it. Brian Thomas. Remember they
traded down with Minnesota from seventeen to twenty three. Cowboys,
they are on the clock at number twenty four, followed
by the Packers, Buccaneers, Cardinals, Bills, Lions, Ravens, Niners, and

(02:02:53):
then you're world champion Kansas City Chiefs. Draft Knight Live
on Fox Sports Radio with Jay Lazer, Steve kai LeVar
arringtatom Me. Rob Stone will be right back with the
Cowboys pick at number twenty four. When we left you,
the Dallas Cowboys were on the clock scratched that they
have pulled a trade with Detroit and what a night
Detroit is having over one hundred thousand in downtown Detroit

(02:03:17):
to take in this pick. And the Lions, who went
twelve and five last year their best season in more
than three decades, reached the NFC Championship Game, and they
made a move Jay up from number twenty nine to
twenty four.

Speaker 4 (02:03:29):
And look, I talked to Dan Campbell earlier today. He
was actually looking to move up all the way up
in the teens, and I'm like, who are we looking
at here? And He's like, I'm probably gonna if we do,
it'll be more in the twenties. If there's a cornerback
that we'd love there and who would have thought and
only one corner would be off the board at that point.
So yeah, Dan Campbell and Hopkins, their general manager of
Brat Hopkins is going to end up going with a cornerback.

(02:03:52):
And the reason why, also, guys, is the Dallas Cowboys. Again,
they thought they were gonna have to reach for an
offensive lineman at this position, and the lines ring they're
gonna end up giving up a third rounder of Dallas,
but they thought they're gonna have to reach and they
still have like four offensive linemen who they we would
be happy with over there at twenty four, who are
now gonna probably be there at least a couple of them.

Speaker 3 (02:04:14):
Over down to twenty nine, where Detroit was picking.

Speaker 2 (02:04:17):
We just had our first cornerback taking two picks ago
the Eagles taking Mitchell out of Toledo at twenty two.

Speaker 3 (02:04:24):
Terry and Arnold was real high on their board the
Detroit Lions.

Speaker 2 (02:04:27):
So Arnold the cornerback out of Alabama.

Speaker 3 (02:04:30):
Yep.

Speaker 6 (02:04:31):
And probably the only reason Robbie's here is he ran
a four or five to two, So for a corner
you know, it's not a great great time speed. Yet
at the same time, his short, airy quickness, his movement
is athleticism is tremendous, which obviously makes up for some
of the long speak concerns.

Speaker 4 (02:04:45):
He's got a wild story too, because he was playing
basketball in high school and football and decided he was
just gonna play basketball, and Charlie Ward, who played both
also for FSU, he was like, no, no, you're staying
in football.

Speaker 3 (02:04:56):
You're gonna play football. It's a good thing for him.
He did because he's.

Speaker 2 (02:04:59):
Rich about to be very very rich. So Detroit moving
up from twenty nine to twenty four to take the
Cowboys selection. Once the Cowboys or I'm sorry, once Detroit
is done here and the pick is in, it'll be
Green Bay at twenty five, Tampa Bay at twenty six,
Arizona from Houston at twenty seven, the Bills at twenty eight,

(02:05:23):
and now Dallas down to twenty nine, and then there's
just three more picks left the Ravens, Niners, Chiefs. This
draft is moving pretty quickly, and.

Speaker 3 (02:05:32):
Guys, again, I want to go here.

Speaker 4 (02:05:34):
You know, Terry Arnold, this is a guy who's had
a ton of experience, right, played all the way back
as a freshman All American Freshman All American. They recruited
him as a safety, switched them over to cornerback. Never
look back. I just think just again knowing where they
had him with great value for Dan Campbell and the Lions.

Speaker 2 (02:05:49):
The Lions had released Cam Sutton not too long ago
after that arrest, so cornerback was really at the top
of their list as they really continue to grow and
rapidly again twelve and five. Last year, they made some
big moves Steve on Wednesday, signing the offensive tackle and
the wide receiver am On Ross Saint Brown as well.

(02:06:09):
So this is a long play picture for the Lions
right now.

Speaker 6 (02:06:12):
There's no doubt and signing your own guys like you know,
Penny Soul and Themna Saint Brown. Those guys have been great,
great factors there. You know, they've been great players early on.
They've been players they drafted. Uh, you know with Terry
and Arnold to me, you know this guy. You look
at a lot of the different teams around the country
and and the one thing about Alabama defensive backs is
they are coached to well. Nick Saban usually traditionally works

(02:06:36):
for the defensive backs. So Terry and Arnold is used
to being ripped and to be coached hard, and obviously
he's he's a very confident young man, and everybody I've
talked to you said how impressive he was.

Speaker 3 (02:06:46):
Yeah, I think there's a great pick also for Aaron
Glen work with.

Speaker 5 (02:06:49):
Him, right, sir, Yes, sir, obviously being an amazing cornerback
that played in this league and prides himself on having
an aggressive, attacking style of defense. I was about to say,
as a matchmate and having to have that style of
a corner being coached by someone like Aaron g.

Speaker 3 (02:07:05):
You know who's really happy about this, believe it or not.
The Green Bay Packers.

Speaker 4 (02:07:09):
And you know why, because they wanted offensive line and
Dallas Cowboys sit in front of them. They thought, okay, well,
maybe the Cowboys gonna end up taking the guy they want,
and I know the guy they want also, And yeah,
he was pretty up there on the Dallas Cowboys board.

Speaker 3 (02:07:25):
They were real high they were on a couple of
these guys.

Speaker 4 (02:07:27):
But I know, you know we talked earlier about Fatnu
from Washington could play tackler guard. The next guy could
really play tackler guard. Is you know the Arizona tackle
played out there for Jet Fish last year at university Arizona.
I think green Bay. You know, I thought it was
going to be back to back offensive line, Dallas got
out of it. I think green Bay ends up going
back there for offensive line. I think Jordan Mortal and

(02:07:50):
ended up being a guy who they love here and
target with their picking green Bay.

Speaker 2 (02:07:55):
That one to come at twenty five. But here's the
Lions at twenty four.

Speaker 1 (02:08:00):
With the twenty fourth pick. The Detroit Lions select Terry
and Arnold cornerback Alabama six foot, one hundred and ninety six.

Speaker 2 (02:08:10):
Pounds, career high sixty three tackles last year, and Detroit
getting the second cornerback of this first round as they
moved up to number twenty four, switching spots with the Cowboys.
So up next it's the Packers, followed by the Buccaneers
at twenty six, and then the Arizona Cardinals at twenty seven.

Speaker 5 (02:08:33):
I'll say this, I look at at you. We're talking
about linemen and what they're doing. Talk to me about
Braiden Fisk.

Speaker 2 (02:08:43):
Bid I do too.

Speaker 3 (02:08:44):
I love his game. Hef to tackle Florida State. I
love him.

Speaker 5 (02:08:49):
I feel like his game translates to the next, the
next level very nicely. Where is he at in terms
of the conversation of what teams would be looking for.
Most feel like that would be an amazing pick up
for the Dallas Cowboys defensive front.

Speaker 3 (02:09:05):
I love fiscally.

Speaker 4 (02:09:06):
He's a guy who's traded at the Senior Ball, which
I didn't know you could trade for players.

Speaker 3 (02:09:11):
Until it happened this year.

Speaker 4 (02:09:12):
And I know he's over on the sidelines calling out
what the other players, what the the other offense is
going to do?

Speaker 3 (02:09:18):
And the Senior Bowl coaching staff.

Speaker 4 (02:09:20):
Is like, what, Oh my gosh, this guy's a study
is Almost everybody compares him to Kyle Williams. That's every
single person I've talked to had the same exact confidence.

Speaker 3 (02:09:30):
Exactly thought about Jay.

Speaker 4 (02:09:31):
Yeah, he's not going here, but I love him, right.
I don't know if he's gonna get in the first round.

Speaker 3 (02:09:36):
Man he is. I think it's great. It's funny to
bring that up because I think he ends up wherever
he goes.

Speaker 4 (02:09:41):
That's a that's probably the best value pick besides some
of those running backs like Hope gains Play Kreham from Michigan.

Speaker 3 (02:09:46):
Right, that's a man, that's a guy, and he's a
culture guy.

Speaker 5 (02:09:50):
He's not with the rounds with the Chargers.

Speaker 3 (02:09:53):
I wouldn't prosed. That's a culture guy. Yeah, okay, that's huge.

Speaker 4 (02:09:59):
I like that he brought the by the way, also
talking about the Detroit Lions, man, a guy like Dan
Campbell not just done a great job, but a guy
like this, I think that type of coach so much
more important nowadays than ever before.

Speaker 3 (02:10:12):
And what I mean is his authenticity.

Speaker 4 (02:10:14):
Like these guys, we're all and look at us even
up there, We're glued to our phones and we're looking
at stuff on social media. None of it's real, none
if it's authentic. So for him to be so incredibly
authentic to these young guys, and a lot of them
are looking for a big brother or a father figure
or uncle figure, somebody like that. They know they could
trust the guy like Dan Campbell.

Speaker 3 (02:10:33):
You can.

Speaker 4 (02:10:33):
That's why he resonates so much. He is authenticity. As
I mean, if you looked up in the dictionary, his
picture would be there. And I think, man, the Lions
are in good hands for a long time because of him.

Speaker 3 (02:10:45):
I love what he's doing over there gets a players
to believe. Jay.

Speaker 6 (02:10:49):
You know, four or five years ago I interviewed him
for our head coaching position and down in New Orleans
with the rich Carlton and New Orleans.

Speaker 3 (02:10:54):
And I'll never forget and who told you should hire him?

Speaker 6 (02:10:59):
This was the the only coaching interview I've been and
I've been in a million of them, where the guy
he was coming across the desk right, he was so passionate,
he was bright red, he was low. You wanted to fight,
and you know he was just you just had this
infectious way about him.

Speaker 2 (02:11:13):
Reignited that fan base in Detroit that had been dormant
for far too long. Sold out their entire home schedule.
The Lions are back. They're going to be one of
the favorites next year, for sure. In a great crowd.
We're looking at it right now in downtown Detroit. They're
talking well over one hundred thousand there for the NFL
Draft next year. The draft will be in Green Bay
and the Packers are on the clock right now at

(02:11:35):
number twenty five. The pick is in.

Speaker 4 (02:11:39):
And by the way, just one more thing back here
about Dan Campbell. I'm out there training camp this year.
They're about to they're about to scrimmage the Giants. Just
it's scrimmaging rights. They're joint practices. And Dan Campbell is
in it brings the team together and just to walk
through right before and starts charging these cats up like
it is the damn super Bowl. And he starts crying

(02:12:01):
like he has looked like he was so emotional because
it's his first chance for these guys to see action
against another jersey, and man, it meant so much to
him for these guys to be able to take what
they've taught them so far and to just do it together.
And someone says, hey, we're doing this this together. It's
this together in this theme, and you would have thought
they were getting ready not for a playoff game for

(02:12:23):
the super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (02:12:23):
Who's unreal. He's a real one.

Speaker 5 (02:12:26):
And that that that coach that can relate to the
players in today's game, in today's NFL. I think that
is the way the old school hard knows you know,
no my my way or the highway type of guy.
I think that that's that's an obsolete figure for for

(02:12:47):
this day and.

Speaker 3 (02:12:48):
Age of how these athletes are.

Speaker 5 (02:12:51):
So you see the Dan Campbell's and now you gotta
Antonio Pierce. You saw how they responded to him and
zachs Vegas. You know, even guys like Sean McVay. You
know these these young and and then shot Kyle Shanahan.
These younger coaches are even the coach and uh and
Daniels Daniel and uh Dan, Mike mcdowne, Daniel. These guys

(02:13:13):
are relatable and and you're seeing the results pay dividends
for for what the players do and believing in them.

Speaker 4 (02:13:21):
Again, you went corner, so the top two corners are
off the board. Now now you're gonna get back to
the offensive line. Run, he said, Dallas is gonna be
in it. They traded out. Packers will go on line here.
I know the Buccaneers talking to Jason light the other day,
they were hoping one of these offensive linemen felled them.
They're gonna end up going offensivelying as well. Guys, if
they keeping their draft board.

Speaker 2 (02:13:38):
It's a battle of the Bay's next. The Green Bay
Packers on the clock here at twenty five, fall by
the Buccaneers at twenty six, and the pick is in
for Green Bay.

Speaker 1 (02:13:48):
With the twenty fifth pick, the Green Bay Packers select
Jordan Morgan, offensive tackle Arizona six foot five, three hundred eleven.

Speaker 2 (02:13:59):
Pounds' first team All Pack twelve, started all twelve games
for the Wildcats at left tackle. So that now makes
it eighteen offensive players taken in the first round. We
are one away from tying the modern day draft record
for most offensive players taken in the first round, and
by all indications, it looks like that record will be

(02:14:21):
tied with our next pick, Yes Buccaneers sitting there at
number twenty six, nine to eight. Last year, they dialed
in their two main offensive threats in the offseason Baker
Mayfield future Hall of Famer Mike Evans. They had some
losses on the defensive sides with Shaq Barrett and Devin White,
but it looks like they're going to focus on protecting Baker.

Speaker 3 (02:14:42):
Well.

Speaker 4 (02:14:42):
It was interesting because I was talking to Jason Light
the other day. We're just talking about these offensive linemen,
and I brought up a Duke's Graham Barton, and he's like, oh, man,
love me, he could play center car. I mean, he's
not gonna be their first chase, so it doesn't matter,
but just start going in about grand Barton. Well, he's
still he's sitting right there, and justin talking on the
other day, that's who they're going to end up going with.
If they're standing by with their board Steve. I want

(02:15:03):
to get back to Green Bays pick real quick if
I can't because the Arizona tackle there. Jordan Morgan, Yeah,
Jordan Morgan. He played tackle. They played a great job.
But most teams I talked to project him at guard,
even though he's six ' five. Why project him is
his arm length.

Speaker 6 (02:15:19):
He's got shorter arms Jay and the guy like him
who's got tremendous athleticism and mobility. He's a guy that
can fit in certain systems when they're pulling those guards
and getting them on the perimeter. The second level ability
to match a mirror guys like LeVar in space. Those
are the guys that you want out there. And he's
got enough length to match up against the elite rushers inside.
So to me, Morgan is a smooth mover. He's got

(02:15:40):
great feed, he's got great athleticism. I think ideally he
does moved inside to guard at the next level, can
really be a special player at that spot.

Speaker 2 (02:15:46):
You don't think he's a center. He's listened as the
best center in the draft. That doesn't necessarily mean that's
where you're gonna.

Speaker 3 (02:15:51):
We're talking about Morgan guy is yeah, yeah, Yeah, that's
where Buccaneer's gonna up taken. Yeah, no, ask him about that.

Speaker 4 (02:15:59):
But also, yeah, the the Duke Center, Graham Barton, we're
just talking about who Jason lt just loves and loves loves.
I've always thought he was a center for people talking
about guard, people talking about tackle.

Speaker 3 (02:16:09):
Is it a no brainer he's at center.

Speaker 6 (02:16:11):
Yeah, I think he's a center for sure. I mean,
number one of those guys are hard to find today's
day in age two with these young quarterbacks. You want
a center that can be smart, can identify the fronts,
can call out the different things that they have to
do from an IQ standpoint, and there's no better than
to have a guy from Dude Duke do that for you.
Has played three years at offensive tackle, but he has
got a tremendous athleticism, also some great movement, very good latterly,

(02:16:34):
and he's got all the trades. He's really smart, he's instinctive,
and he's a tough kid to.

Speaker 2 (02:16:38):
Play at guard as well, according to some of the
scouts out there as well. So you got a guy
who can slide all over the place on the line,
but clearly looks to be that anchor in the middle
for the future. For Tampa Bay. If this pick is
what it's going to be, Graham Barton sitting there at
number twenty six to Tampa Bay, indications are that is
who the Buccaneers are going to take, and then after that,
we only have six more picks left. Guys, Zona, Buffalo, Dallas,

(02:17:01):
who traded down from twenty four to twenty nine, Baltimore,
San fran and Kansas City.

Speaker 4 (02:17:07):
Not a linebacker taken, and that was that was I think, guys,
were we weren't expecting one to go probably in the twenties.
Is who we're looking at with maybe yeah, I mean
he did not try to Cooper from Texas A and
M Cardinals here, they're gonna end up shifting back to defense.

Speaker 3 (02:17:27):
Also, guys, I think they go back, you know, defensive line.

Speaker 5 (02:17:30):
Here.

Speaker 4 (02:17:31):
We haven't had a single linebacker taking there. League great, right,
isn't that whild So it took twenty one pick for
a corner, I think, right, No linebackers, no safeties. A
lot of times you have a big hitting safety up there.
That's not the case. Also, just a different draft.

Speaker 2 (02:17:47):
Yeah, first corner taken at twenty two by Philadelphia.

Speaker 3 (02:17:51):
I'm almost disturbed. I'm upset, you'll have your year.

Speaker 2 (02:17:56):
You guys will be back.

Speaker 3 (02:17:57):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (02:17:58):
I'm not worried about you.

Speaker 3 (02:17:59):
Thank you. We'll be back.

Speaker 2 (02:18:00):
Yeah yeah, things swing man, things swing again. This draft
dominated by offensive players. The first fourteen selections used on
that side of the ball. Quarterbacks the other big story
six taken in the first twelve picks, bo Nicks, the
last of them going number twelve to Denver. And of course,

(02:18:22):
it started with Kayleb Williams going number one to Chicago,
followed by Jaden Daniels to Washington. Drake May the Carolina
QB to New England. The Cardinals who are coming up
at number twenty seven. They took Marvin Harrison at number four,
Chargers first offensive lineman, Joe alt At, a Notre Dame
at number five, Giants second wide receiver, the LSU product

(02:18:44):
elite neighbors went to New York. The Titans offensive tackle
JC Latham from Alabama. The big surprise number eight the
Atlanta Falcons. Michael Pennix, the quarterback from Washington. That one
shook up a lot of draft boards. A lot of
folks thought he was going to be able to fall
to the Denvers or the Raiders of the world, and
instead Atlanta with a bit of a surprise there at

(02:19:04):
number eight, and then Chicago at number nine. Another receiver
from Washington, Romo Doonze, and then the Jets Jj McCarthy,
and then the final quarterback Bo Nicks at number twelve
to Denver waiting on the Buccaneers pick. They've won the
division title in three straight seasons, first time they've done
that in franchise history. Again, they locked up. They're all

(02:19:24):
everything wide receiver. They now have faith in Baker Mayfield.
And what do you think the Tampa Bay mindset Steve
is going into this draft and going into this offseason.

Speaker 6 (02:19:34):
Yeah, I think you know, again, Jade nailed it. I
think he think they want to try to protect Baker upfront.
I think they want to get some younger players. They've
had a couple offensive linemen retired the last couple of years,
you know, if not that, you know, potentially defensively, I
could see them trying to look for a linebacker or
even maybe even a corner. The corner out of Iowa
was an interesting.

Speaker 2 (02:19:54):
Guy to me, Jean Virginia.

Speaker 4 (02:19:56):
He's the top right of safety on most of these teams,
and he can play in the he can play safety
can play nick Oa.

Speaker 6 (02:20:01):
He's tremendous athlete. You watch him play basketball in high school,
he's phenomenal.

Speaker 4 (02:20:06):
Now again Buccaneers and they're gonna go offensive line, the
center from Duke, then the Cardinals after that guys, I
know they're gonna go flip back on defense, and I
think you got to kind of look for some culture
guys there and man, just in talking to people in there,
you know, I know they're looking for some of those
linebackers who were bringing up before, but also a guy

(02:20:27):
like Darius Robinson's defensive end from Missouri, who's kind of
like an old school left DEFENSEI end. But he's a leader, right,
he is as they go, hey golfers, He's an alpha,
and that's the type of guy they need, no doubt
in that Cardinals locker room and I could see them
circle them back and.

Speaker 6 (02:20:41):
A guy and I do know that Jay because I
talked to him today and they do love him, and
they said that, you know a guy that can play
inside and outside. He's six foot five and he's got length.
So again the versatility for a guy like that that
can do the different things that you know, I know
coach Gannon would like to see out of his defensive
line than like he had in Philadelphia. Would be a
huge get from them.

Speaker 2 (02:20:59):
Back to Tampa Bay at number twenty six. They've used
four of their last five first round draft picks on
a defensive player. That won't be the case this year.

Speaker 1 (02:21:10):
With the twenty sixth pick, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select
Graham Barton, offensive tackle duke six foot three, three hundred
eleven pounds, so the two.

Speaker 2 (02:21:22):
Time first team All acc center from Durham, North Carolina.
The Duke product, Graham Barton head south to Tampa Bay
at number twenty six. Cardinals are on the clock at
twenty seven, followed by Buffalo, Dallas, Baltimore, San Francisco, and
Kansas City. Draft Night Live on Fox Sports Radio with
inside our J Glazer, former Cards, GM, Steve Khime, College

(02:21:43):
Football Hall of Famer LeVar Arrington, and me Rob Stone.
We will be right back with the next pick, Arizona
at number twenty seven. We welcome you back and the
pick is in the Cardinals at number twenty seven.

Speaker 1 (02:21:58):
With the twenty seventh pick, the Arizona Cardinals select Darius Robinson,
defensive line Missouri, six foot five, two hundred and eighty
five pounds.

Speaker 2 (02:22:10):
First team All SEC defender led the Tigers with fourteen
tackles for loss eight and a half sacks. So Darius Robinson,
the edge from Missouri goes to Arizona. A little breaking
news here for you got a little recorade.

Speaker 4 (02:22:23):
The Kansas City Chiefs have traded up with the Buffalo Bills,
who is their conference rival. Its still kind of shocks
with the Bills have done this because the Chiefs, who
are they going to select the fastest dude in the draft?
Xavier Worthy who ran a four to two three, a
four to two three at the combine three four two three,
the combine fastest ever, That's who they are given to

(02:22:46):
Patrick Mahomes to shore up that wide receiver corps.

Speaker 3 (02:22:49):
Unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (02:22:51):
That look, I I just for me looking at it,
like Buffalo, why help you know the team that you
have to kind of topple for just a couple of picks,
and you know, helping them get a guy like that,
you know, it's it's wow, that one, That one's wow.

Speaker 3 (02:23:08):
Right, But what a pick? A value pick for Kansas City.

Speaker 5 (02:23:14):
You get a deep ball threat. It's it's going listen.
Kansas City's offense still continues to go through the center
of the field. All Right, you're going to you're going
to take Kelsey and you're going to access the center
of the field, no matter how that is from hash
to hash. That's what they're going numbers, the numbers. They're

(02:23:36):
going to get you in between the numbers. So the
idea of having a guy that can stretch the field
out where you can't bring your defenses down, your your
safeties can't cheat, and your your linebackers really aren't They're

(02:23:57):
just not going to be good enough to to cover
a Kelsey maybe still hopefully, but the ability to stretch
the field out With this Chiefs team, that's that's probably
what they were missing.

Speaker 3 (02:24:09):
So let's not forget this offseason.

Speaker 6 (02:24:11):
They added Hollywood Brown, who's also yes they dead, Yes
they Xavier' worthy Hollywood Brown.

Speaker 3 (02:24:19):
Wow, this this.

Speaker 4 (02:24:20):
Selection is again if there's a fit and there's the
thing about Xavi, you're worthy. It's hard for quarterbacks to
catch up, so sometimes it looks like when he's out
in his route, it looks a little odd because they
just can't catch up to him. How faust is he
can't do it, and Patrick Mahomes certainly can't. Patrick Mahomes
just gonna do the same thing with him to do
with Tyreek Hill and man, this' again this is already

(02:24:41):
a picked your poison type of offense, and now it's
just gets a lot more dangerous.

Speaker 2 (02:24:45):
Fourth trade of the evening is Kansas City moves up
from thirty two to number twenty eight, flipping spots with
the Buffalo Bills. Xavier Worthy will be the fifth wide
receiver taken in Kansas City. If you're Buffalo Steve, what
what is the rationale from a GM perspective on pulling

(02:25:06):
off a trade like that?

Speaker 1 (02:25:07):
You know?

Speaker 6 (02:25:07):
The only thing I can think is they're sitting there
and again they have a number of players that they
have great in the same similar area. They don't love anybody,
and really they just want to add picks, and to
me again, to do it with a division rival, I mean,
that's got to be painful.

Speaker 5 (02:25:24):
Wow, right, I just for me, if if you have
the I'd say this, what do you do if your
board says that's the decision that you're supposed to make,
that's it?

Speaker 3 (02:25:38):
You know, like in playing you know.

Speaker 5 (02:25:40):
Blackjack or something, the book says if you don't love them,
get more, you know, get more picks, even if that
means giving it to Kansasy what like, how I guess
you got to stay true to to.

Speaker 3 (02:25:51):
What it is that your playing is right. I mean,
to me, it's a little bit of a yeah. Do
you take that?

Speaker 1 (02:25:56):
To me?

Speaker 3 (02:25:57):
It's a mind trick.

Speaker 6 (02:25:57):
I mean, because you're here, you are that's the team
one team you are chasing, right, and all of a
sudden you're flipping a pick with them.

Speaker 3 (02:26:02):
Now you're still like going, oh, what did we do? No,
when you realize who it is, you don't think Josh
Allen Loo throw Xavier order right? Nice? Four two one?
Sorry I said four two to three?

Speaker 2 (02:26:12):
All right, Well the pick is in. Here's Kansas City
at number twenty eight.

Speaker 1 (02:26:18):
With the twenty eighth pick, the Kansas City Chiefs select
Xavier Worthy. Wide receiver Texas six foot one, one hundred
and sixty five pounds.

Speaker 2 (02:26:31):
Led the Longhorns with seventy five grabs last season over
one thousand receiving yards average thirteen and a half per reception,
only had five receiving touchdowns. Can return punts as well,
So the explosive five foot eleven Xavier Worthy is off
to the world champion Kansas City Chiefs, and we have
four picks left Dallas who traded down from twenty four

(02:26:52):
with Detroit to twenty nine. They are up next fall
by Baltimore, San Francisco, and then Buffalo as of now,
will close things out. Back to that Xavier Worthy pick
that is now twenty offensive players taken in the first round,
a new NFL Draft record.

Speaker 4 (02:27:11):
Wow, yay, And it'll keep going here with the Dallas Cowboys. Guys,
I told you they're gonna be offensive line. And they
made that trade back because a couple of the guys
that were looking at they had they had a group.
They had Guidon, they had Barton from Duke, they had
tackle Jordan Morgan from Arizona. They had Mims from Georgia.

Speaker 2 (02:27:31):
All guys who've been taken so far except for Guidon,
except for Guiding.

Speaker 3 (02:27:34):
He's still there.

Speaker 4 (02:27:35):
And I know that they're you know, then they probably
looked at Kansas City or not Kansas City Buffalo, assuming
that Buffalo wouldn't go offensive line there, and so they
were kind of calculated. But if the guys they talked
to me about Guiden was really the last of that
bunch who was.

Speaker 6 (02:27:50):
Still on their board, Yep, the guy has a little
bit of a questionable body of work. I mean, you know,
he's had a good Senior Bowl. Could be hit or
miss type player in my opinion. You know, he's got
up he's got potential, right tackle type of guy out
of Oklahoma. But you're right, Jay, it's they've ran out
of names by.

Speaker 3 (02:28:07):
Now, right.

Speaker 4 (02:28:08):
No, But but he's still a guy that they had
really high up there of those offensive line prospects, and
he was a guy who's a pure tackle also who
was up there. That's what they wanted because we were
talking about some guys we were talking about Morgan that
oh yeah, moving guard. They were like, now, we really
do want to tackle more than a guard. Guidance fits
that bill more than the other.

Speaker 3 (02:28:28):
Guys who are still se stressed to reward. You hit
on him, you got a player. Michael Crafty were saying
the same thing to me today as well, about what
you're looking for.

Speaker 2 (02:28:35):
If you've heard anything Jay about this, Ezekiel Elliott and
the Cowboys met on Wednesday about that potential return. Any
new news on that, No, I know.

Speaker 3 (02:28:43):
That they're talking to him. I believe they talked to representative.

Speaker 4 (02:28:45):
But that's actually been going on for a little while,
But I think Dallas more than anything, are going to
look at some of these running backs that we're talking
about here in the next couple of rounds and try
and target some of the like there's a couple of
those guys. Look, we still haven't had to run bout
Taken Brooks from Texas. You who's the top guy on
most teams boards. He's still sitting there. They're all sitting
there obviously. But you know, Dallas could get somebody later on.

(02:29:08):
You can get them somebody in the second third four.
It's this draft is really deep for running.

Speaker 3 (02:29:13):
Backs, just not in the first round.

Speaker 2 (02:29:15):
Draft Night Live on Fox Sports Radio with inside our
j Glazer, former Cards GM, Steve Kaim, College Football Hall
of Famerlevar Arrington, and me Rob Stone, and tonight we
are finding out who will be going pro with Express Pros,
the official employment agency of Fox Sports Radio's Draft Night Live.

(02:29:40):

com to find the location near she Once again, that's
Expresspros dot Com. Let's find out who Dallas just made
a pro.

Speaker 1 (02:29:57):
With the twenty ninth pick, the Dallas Cowboys select Tyler Geiton,
offensive tackle, Oklahoma six foot seven, three hundred and twenty
seven pounds.

Speaker 2 (02:30:09):
First Oklahoma player taken here in this draft. Started his
career at TCU, left Fort Worth and Night moved up
to Norman. That's right, honorable mentioned all Big twelve last year,
played in just ten games nine starts. Had some injury
issues which cut into that, so the Cowboys moved down
to twenty nine. Tyler Geyton, the offensive tackle taken. He

(02:30:31):
is your twenty first offensive player taken in the first round.
Raft Night Live on Fox Sports Radio with insider Jay Glazer,
former Cardinals GM, Steve Kaim, College Football Hall of Famer
LeVar Arrington, and me Rob Stone. We will be back
with the number thirty pick, which is owned by the
Baltimore Ravens. Just three picks remain in this first round Baltimore,

(02:30:53):
San fran and Buffalo, who traded down with Kansas City
for that thirty second pick. But here's the Ravens at
number thirty.

Speaker 1 (02:31:03):
With the thirtieth pick, the Baltimore Ravens select Nate Wiggins,
cornerback Clemson, six foot two one and eighty five pounds.

Speaker 2 (02:31:14):
Fust Team All acc Ballhawk two picks, one of them
return for a touchdown.

Speaker 3 (02:31:20):
He gets to the ball.

Speaker 5 (02:31:21):
He's how many pass I wonder I'm curious how many
pass defenses that he has because.

Speaker 2 (02:31:26):
He had nine pvus last season, twelve the year before.

Speaker 5 (02:31:30):
Yeah, he's he definitely finds his way to the ball
in coverage. I like this pick for Baltimore. He's an
aggressive style of cornerback, and so when you had that
type of guy, obviously they they pride themselves on being
able to play d Their defense was really good this year,

(02:31:51):
adding coverage. You can never have too many pass rushers
and you can never have too much coverage. I think
this is a great pickup for the Ravens.

Speaker 2 (02:31:58):
So Wiggins quarterback taken.

Speaker 4 (02:32:02):
And here here's the thing about Wiggins talent wise, he's
as far as you can get up there. A lot
of teams had concerns otherwise, just some issues that characters stuff,
had a lot of concerns about him, So a lot
of teams just weren't going. This is about kind of
where he should have been selected. If he didn't have
those concerns, he'd probably be middle of the first round,

(02:32:23):
top pick forty nine ers up next. I know they're
gonna end up going wide receiver. Guys, Brandon, are you
still looking for a contract? You know they still do
they trade them to They're not trade them. I know
that they're looking to, you know, get some just some
other ammunition there for that offense as well. There's and
then you know this is the type. This is the

(02:32:44):
time in this round also where it's everybody loves different receivers.
There's a couple of guys that flew up the board
at this first start of this week. Pearsall from Florida
and La Get from South Carolina are two guys. Is
it's just skyrocketed up. I know the forty nine ers
they skyrocket up in there as well. And yeah, I

(02:33:06):
think they end up going one of those receivers here
for San Francisco.

Speaker 2 (02:33:10):
Mitchell from Texas sitting there as well. Lad McConkie Georgia
if you're talking wide receivers, and Buffalo is up next
and they're in the market for a wide receiver as well.
Buffalo will close out the first round with the thirty
second overall pick.

Speaker 3 (02:33:25):
Yeah, I think I'm going to go with parasol on
this one, Piers on this Yeah, I like him to
go on.

Speaker 4 (02:33:30):
This same thing. Right, He's like really starting to flap people.
And there's a lot of these teams that just started
falling in love. And it was almost like everybody asks
the same thing, Hey, Glays, is it crazy for us
to have Pearson kind of like hire in the first round?
And I just started hearing that from team after team
after team, and I know San Francisco is the one
of the teams.

Speaker 3 (02:33:50):
Also. He's a tremendous athlete. He's got great ball skills.
I know him well.

Speaker 6 (02:33:53):
I know him as a person knows mother. He's from
right there in Chandler, Arizona. He went Arizona State, then
he transferred to Florida. Has had two years of Florida.
He's battled some injuries from time to time, but he
is a ideal slot receiver. He's got tremendous route savvy.
He's really really explosive. He ran well this spring and
tested extremely well. So great character guy. I don't think

(02:34:15):
you can lose with this pick right here, and if
that's where John Lynch goes, I think it's an excellent thing.

Speaker 4 (02:34:19):
He's small, hes Andre and eighty nine pounds, but he
put up seventeen reps at the combine.

Speaker 3 (02:34:22):
So he's a strongrong guy, small guy, right, Yeah, I.

Speaker 4 (02:34:27):
Know San Francisco is looking for the receivers and I
know those are two of those guys to get. Was
then they were kind of the first one to really
put him on my radar in South Carolina flying up
and then I think we're the first team that we're
talking to me about Piersall And then that just started
happening over and over and over that could he really
get He's first round guys he getting in there. I
wouldn't be surprised if they end up going to Piersall here.

Speaker 5 (02:34:48):
You know, they also lost Ray Ray McLeod as well,
which is the same type of a mold receiver as Parasol.
So you want to be able to have that multi
dimensional type of player that can do special teams for
you and do you know possessional type of route route
route running.

Speaker 2 (02:35:06):
Buffalo is on the clock because San Francisco has made
their pick.

Speaker 1 (02:35:12):
With the thirty first pick, the San Francisco forty nine
ers select Ricky Pearsall wide receiver Florida, six foot one,
one eighty nine pounds.

Speaker 2 (02:35:24):
Lavigators with sixty five grabs nine hundred and sixty five yards.
Also got a couple of rushes in there as well.

Speaker 3 (02:35:31):
About it.

Speaker 2 (02:35:32):
Yeah, so a bit of a threat from Arizona area.
So we are down to our last pick, and it's
not Kansas City. It is Buffalo who traded with Kansas
City from that twenty eight spot down to number thirty two.
Again the guys that trade still kind of is it

(02:35:52):
bothering you, isn't it? It is because you got to
do whatever you have to to overcome Kansas City, not
help Kansas City. Kansas City getting Xavier Worthy, the speedy
wide receiver from Texas in that twenty eight.

Speaker 4 (02:36:05):
Whoever, regardless of how you view somebody, no matter what, no, no,
like these guys, you still have to look and go wow.
If and by the way, Carolina Panthers they've just traded
up into this round, into the first round. They didn't
have a first round pick. They've just traded up here
with the Buffalo Bills with Buffalo moving back again. But
whoever it is when Kansas City calls and says we

(02:36:27):
want to trade up, you got to say, right, we're
not many they have a beat on something they think
is really gonna help their team.

Speaker 3 (02:36:33):
Our answer has to be no, right, huh. So this
is the fifth.

Speaker 2 (02:36:37):
Trade of this first round, Carolina moving up. So Caroline
will have back to back picks right now, they have
the first pick in the second round and they will
close out the first round Draft Night live on Fox
Sports Radios. Move the one pick here exactly with the
insider Jay Glazer, former Cardinals GM, Steve Kainin College Football
Hall of Famer LeVar Arrington, and me Rob Stone, and
we are broadcasting live from the ti iraq dot com studios.

(02:36:59):
Tyrak will help you get there an unmatched selection, fast,
free shipping, free road hazard protection, and over ten thousand
recommended installers tire rack dot com the way tire buying
should be. So Carolina now on the clock, our fifth
trade of the first round, and they move up into
the first round and Buffalo stops to move down.

Speaker 3 (02:37:21):
In the South.

Speaker 4 (02:37:21):
Carolina receiver had told everybody, Oh yeah, Carolina said they're
gonna you know, they're gonna get me. And then they're
trying to act like no, we told a million people
that like gets he put it out there. But it's
interesting because Dan Morgan's now the president football operations over there.
He used to be there in Buffalo with Brandon Bean,
so this is an easy pick for him obviously to make.
And yeah, again, I think, you know, if some of

(02:37:46):
these guys that get information and they're so excited and
they put it out there, I'm.

Speaker 3 (02:37:50):
Gonna I'm gonna trust the kid on this. I'm gonna
trust this.

Speaker 4 (02:37:53):
I'm gonna trust the legged and say, Okay, they told
him that, and they told them to the point where
he said, I'm gonna go tell other people that he
closes out the first round, which, by the way, he also,
like I said, him and Piersoll the two guys that
really flew up in the last couple of days here,
These two receivers came out of nowhere over the last
three or four days.

Speaker 3 (02:38:12):
And I know, if I'm hearing it, these guys are
hearing it.

Speaker 6 (02:38:15):
Also makes a lot of sense to South Carolina kid
sixty miles away in Columbia from Charlotte. Guy's got a
ton of upside, you know, played fast, played physical, really
good player, probably the best, next best and next receiver
on the boat.

Speaker 3 (02:38:29):
Anyways, man, what a night, boys, what a night.

Speaker 4 (02:38:32):
No linebackers, no running backs, you get a corner, no safeties,
six quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (02:38:38):
In the top twelve Iliad. We told you that would happen.

Speaker 2 (02:38:41):
And some great players sitting out there tomorrow as well, Steve,
just from your perspective kind of taking a look at
the whole of the draft, and I know it's so
tough to analyze who won, who lost, But who are
some teams that you were saying are walking away tonight
going well, we did ourselves right. Well.

Speaker 6 (02:38:59):
I think when you look at the two teams who
had the two first round picks, you know, whether whether
it be the Cardinals or Minnesota or Minnesota, I think
both those teams have gotten much significantly better with with
with four players that can really.

Speaker 3 (02:39:10):
Play Chicago, Yes, in Chicago.

Speaker 4 (02:39:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (02:39:13):
So those those three teams again, I think that the
opportunity to have two first round picks, they capitalized.

Speaker 4 (02:39:20):
I like the Lions what they did. I like a
lot of the teams getting those offensive linemen. I like
Pittsburgh's offensive lineman all the way down there. But hey,
the biggest story of this transit far No, No, not
cancl Chase, No, it's Pix Atlanta Falcons. Absolutely. Now there's
all these stories out there about Mett Kirk. Cousins said,

(02:39:41):
who I did, didn't know about it. And I was
texting with somebody while this is going on, saying another
head coach saying, hey, you think if Kirk knew they
were going to go quarterback he's ever signed with Atlanta.

Speaker 3 (02:39:50):
He's like, absolutely not.

Speaker 5 (02:39:52):
No shots. Let me ask you guys this. Do you
think it's because he's coming off of the injury as well?

Speaker 3 (02:39:59):
No, I think they love him that much.

Speaker 4 (02:40:01):
They love Petty and when you love a quarterback that
you think, hey, this guy is gonna well be a
you know, perennial pro bowler over and over and over
you already, but you know that's not gonna happen with
Kirk then, and you think that highly of him. I
think they looked and said we got to go with it.
But I agreed, like there's so many other needs there
and but it was crazy. I heard it the other day.

(02:40:22):
Talk to Raheem Morris today. He repeated it. I didn't
believe it, and especially not think he goes now that
it's probably too rich up there. Later on, I portrayed
because I knew there were people looking for him, but
I said, really said down man, just he loved him,
absolutely loved him. I mean, Steve, I guess if you're
that convicted on somebody, Yeah, you just take him. You
don't look back, really do it?

Speaker 3 (02:40:42):
Really?

Speaker 6 (02:40:42):
And you know what's so funny about this process is
sometimes we talk ourselves out of things. I mean, it's
you know, I was with Bruce Arians a couple of
months ago and he and I both sat down and
watched a little bit of Penix and was a guy
that we really liked. But we talk ourselves out of
it now because now there's some injury questions, now there's
some other concerns. Some of these other guys are a
little cleaner. Trust your gut, trust your instincts. Sometimes when

(02:41:02):
you press and you try to make decisions based on
you need, you're going to screw yourself. And at the
end of the day, maybe the Falcons were the ones
that pulled this off the right way.

Speaker 3 (02:41:12):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (02:41:12):
So Carolina their draft pick is in and it is
the second team all le secee wide out Xavier Lyget
from South Carolina. So we closed with back to back
wide receivers. Seven wide receivers taken in the first round. Yeah,
I think our over under for that was six twenty
three offensive players total. What was the overunder on that one?

Speaker 3 (02:41:34):
What was the offense?

Speaker 2 (02:41:35):
I just had to be the most of all time
record was nineteen.

Speaker 3 (02:41:38):
That's right there, we go. Oh no, I said the
most offensive lineman was it? I don't know the record
for that. We have that. Where's our analytics guy?

Speaker 2 (02:41:45):
Six quarterbacks taken in the top twelve. So the last
time we had six quarterbacks taken in the first round
that QB draft of nineteen eighty three l way Oh
Blackledge Kelly in the top twelve, though not in the
top twelve. That was in the top twenty seventh, Dan
Marino going twenty seventh to Miami back in nineteen eighty three.

(02:42:07):
So six quarterbacks taken in the first twelve picks today,
Caleb Williams, Jaden Daniels, Drake May, Michael Pennix, JJ McCarthy
to Minnesota who moved up one spot to get him
in bo Nix to number twelve.

Speaker 3 (02:42:23):
Everybody got the quarterback they wanted except for the Raid Raiders.

Speaker 2 (02:42:27):
But the Raiders might have gotten the tight end at
tight end that he craved and brought Bowers as well.

Speaker 3 (02:42:33):
That's going to be nice to see him. Yeah, he
was he was described as a generational type. Time is yeah,
I agree with that. This is incredible. Boys. I have
been fun, brought a good time, always a pleasure. Rob,
thanks you for leading.

Speaker 2 (02:42:44):
Sure, I'll lead the charge for you to get to
the airport and that fun little bit doggle you got
in the Bahamas and have a great wedding, my friend,
you buddy. Thanks to our social video gurus Elijah and

(02:43:07):
