Bottom of the hour, Shawn, we got John Mitchell, who
is the host of the Locked.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
On seventy six Ers podcast.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
And uh, you know, the Sixers have sixty million dollars
to spend in free agency.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
But who they gonna get, that's the question. So we'll
talk a bit about that.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
I mean maybe, but obviously there reports that he's luke there,
luke Wan lukewarm on him, and he seems to be
lukewarm on them, So we will see. But let's turn
to what has been the story of the past couple
of days at least, and that is Brianie James getting
drafted by the Lakers with the fifty fifty fifth pick yesterday,
(01:36):
and now Lebron James, who is the all time leading
scorer in NBA history, viewed by many as the second
best player ever.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
Some view him as the greatest player ever.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
I've long said Sean that like my generation controls the
discussion right now, and we for the most part, my
generation says it's Michael Jordan. Now that the generation before
me does not necessarily say it's Jordan.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
That most of them say Karem. They don't know. I
think most just kind of are like, well, it is
no goat, you know.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
I mean, I'm talking about hearing Oscar Robertson and and
and great legends of the past. They kind of just say, well,
there is no greatest. Everybody's been great, you know, the
superstars and this and that. But some do say Kareem.
And I just feel like, and I've said this for
a long time, it's possible.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
I used to think it was very like almost a
done deal.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
And then last the last dance really swayed a lot.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Of the young people to Jordan's side.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
But you know, the things Lebron is done lately, by
becoming the all time leading scorer, by playing so well
into its thirty ninth year and probably fortieth year, I
think has swayed some people, at least the young people
to his side. So I do feel like it's very
possible when the rob G's of the world, his people,
(03:14):
his age, the twenty somethings, the thirty somethings, the teenagers.
Right now, when they're controlling the narrative, they may very
well Lebron James may be viewed widely as the goat,
because right now you would say Jordan is widely viewed
as the goat, But when they're controlling the narrative, I
(03:35):
think it could be Lebron.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
You disagree.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
I don't think it's fair to give the gen zs
like that pass because there's enough visual evidence of Jordan
to if you're objective when you're comparing the two, to say,
he's different. Lebron's good, really good. But okay, I've finally
seen these Jordan highlights. I watched a couple, but he's different. Now,
(04:02):
if you want to go past Jordan, it's not as
much film available on Kareem and Oscar Robertson and you know,
trying to see how good the Bill Russell Celtics work.
So I get maybe not being have that correlation, but
I don't give him body that pass like Lebron's a ball.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
Where are you at on that Rob?
Speaker 5 (04:19):
On the the fact that I.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Do you have Jordan? I mean Lebron second to Jordan? Yes,
so yeah about like your generation and younger? Do you
think what I said when they're controlling the narrative, like
instead of my generation, the nick right aged people are.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
Younger and all that.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
That Lebron will be viewed as the goat the way
Jordan is right now kind of almost universally absolutely, and.
Speaker 5 (04:45):
Is because we're already seeing it take place in the
NBA and in college because when they ask these guys
who's the best player, who's to go, Oh, it's Lebron James.
Some guys are even saying Paul George. You know some
guys they're saying they're saying right, because that's who they
grew up watching, That's who they idolized. So the way
that people use the goat conversation now, it's not necessarily oh,
(05:06):
this is actually the greatest player. It's this is who
I believe is this is my goal. Yeah, but that's
that's it, and that's where that's where the conversation is going.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
But that that I mean when people say that they
need to be silent, it's a copy no and be like,
look that's your that's cool that that's your favorite player,
but we're not talking about your favorite player. The question
on the table is who is the greatest player ever?
And it ain't Paul George. Okay, you have him as
(05:36):
your paper player, but you better pick somebody else for
the goat.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
Who is it?
Speaker 1 (05:40):
But the point we wanted to get to Sean is
and Lebron tweeted out a great picture of him and
Briannie when Briannie was I don't know how old, maybe
five six years old if not younger, and Lebron was
playing with the Cavaliers his first adult It was awesome. Yeah,
(06:01):
it was awesome, the corn Rows and all that. And
Lebron tweeted out or put on Instagram the word legacy
And I want to ask you when what's because we
know Lebron's legacy is going to be multifaceted, But what
do you think will be the first thing that comes
(06:25):
to mind when people think of Lebron James twenty twenty
five years from now, like and I'll give you some examples,
Michael Jordan. I just think people think, Honestly, I feel
like people think got like.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
I really think that's kind of.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
The first thing that comes to mind, absolutely, Michael Jordan's goat.
I think doctor j it's you know, kind of brought
the street game and all the high flying moves and
everything to the NBA. Muhammad Ali, I think it's ending
up courageously and unashamedly for black people and his views
(07:05):
in general, like Vietnam, even though as great as he
was in the Ring. I think though that might be
the first thing people think of. Rob you, who were
something we were talking about this early. I'm trying to
think of some of the other people we were talking.
Speaker 5 (07:21):
You mentioned Bill Russell and the eleven Champions.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
Bill Russell, you think eleven rings. Will Chamberlain. I think
the first thing might be for Will Chamberlain, one hundred
points in the game or average fifty, his assault, just
the outlandish records he put up that will never be
touched again. But with Lebron, there's a lot to choose from,
and it might be it could even be something off
(07:46):
the court.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
But what do you think.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
Will be like that first thing that comes to your
mind when you hear the name Lebron James.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
I think it's gonna be Mogul. I think it's gonna
be Mogal. I think Lebron is the Jay Z of sports.
Like you can make an argument that Jay was the
dopest rapper alive in the late nineties early two thousands,
but you could also argue that there was some other
gifted lyricists that people thought were better. What you can't
(08:13):
argue is that no one is transitioning from entertainment to
business as well as Jay Z has and I see
that same pathway for Lebron. I think the one platform
where he's going to be standing hired than Michael Jordan
when this is all said and done, I think Jordan's
going to be more successful as an executive and eventually
(08:34):
an owner.
Speaker 6 (08:35):
I mean Lebron.
Speaker 4 (08:36):
I think Lebron is going to be more successful than
mj post career and when it comes to the game
of basketball and success as the leader of an organization.
And I think that ultimately, as time continues to move
further and further away from his last shot. That's that's where,
in my opinion, he could potentially catch MJ. If Vegas
(09:00):
gets the NBA team and Bron's part of the ownership
group or he's the GM, and.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
I think he'll be owner.
Speaker 6 (09:08):
And two three years.
Speaker 4 (09:09):
After the interception of the team, they're playing for a
Western Eastern Conference finals and Lebron's sitting there looking brilliant,
looking like Jerry westsh or something. You know, I think
that that could elevate him in some ways because that's
the one thing that Jordan's really never been able to
do is get the Hornets consistently competitive.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
Yeah, and look, Lebron has done more than Michael Jordan
off the court. You know a lot of people wanted
Jordan to speak up more about racial issues and things
like that, and he didn't. He's done a lot since
he's been you know, retired. I mean, just becoming an
African American owner of a major, you know, major sports
league team is progress, moving the race forward, and it's impressive.
(09:54):
He built the medical facility obviously in North Carolina, so
he's done some things, but he waited until he was
done playing. Lebron has done tremendous things and been outspoken,
uh while he's playing. So I think that obviously he's
has that on Jordan. I don't think any of this
affects the Goat conversation. But I think you make a
(10:18):
great point. It might be mogul because I think within
that mogul definition of Lebron James comes.
Speaker 4 (10:27):
He's done movies, he's starting the school albums, He's got
a school.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
I don't even think the movies and albums are because
his movies haven't been like tremendous they like Jordan's. You know,
Space Jam was better than Lebron's Space I mean, I
don't know that the movies I think.
Speaker 6 (10:42):
And I'm talking on the production side.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
I was gonna say them doing him putting Maverick Carter
and Rich Paul in positions to become moguls in their
own right.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
And they've elevated to best in the business in their
space right.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
And I think him that will is part of his legacy.
I think the player empowerment that he sparked can go
into the mogul department, and then even the school can
go into the mogul department. Like you said, if he
(11:20):
becomes an owner of a team and and and so
on and so forth, So that.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
Could be it.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
I mean, you think got Tata and Emery, Lebron's got
Maverick and Rich.
Speaker 6 (11:33):
It matches well jay Z.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
I mean him being like remember early in Lebron's career,
he was a protege of jay Zon, and so he
definitely learned a lot from jay Z. And I think
that's I think that's a good comparison. And I think
I think post career, Lebron's gonna do amazing things.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
But I also wonder.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
If one of the first things could be he played
with his son, like he was the first basketball player
ever to play with his son.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
And some people might think, come on, all he's done,
that this is gonna.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
Be but this is so unique, and I don't know
if it will depend on Briani becoming a really good
player or what, or maybe.
Speaker 3 (12:24):
I'm wrong, but I don't matter if that.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
Could be the because that is something he's done that's
gonna when is ever done, They're gonna have some moments
like just think about this for a second.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
Make yourself a director of a feature film and it's
an autobiography and you're doing the Lebron James story. What
better way to culminate all of this extended greatness than
to be able to write into the script some game.
It might be the mid season championship, like they won
(12:58):
this past season, and Briannie and Broun play a prominent role,
and you get the picture of.
Speaker 3 (13:04):
Them in three years from now.
Speaker 6 (13:06):
Hey, listen, Brianni's gonna you're.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
A little more optimistic.
Speaker 4 (13:09):
Bronnie is going to get into some games this year.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
Yeah, he's gonna, I mean, and I'm not.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
I like Brinnie, and I think he's going to be
a serviceable NBA.
Speaker 3 (13:19):
Player at some point.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
But I don't think he's playing a significant role this season.
Speaker 6 (13:25):
I don't think I think he's gonna get him.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
The blowouts when they're blowing the Lakers are blowing somebody out,
that's where he and Lebron.
Speaker 4 (13:34):
Throws an alley to Lebron James in an NBA regular
season game this season.
Speaker 6 (13:39):
Highlight for decades.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
Right, No, something like that could happen. Put yourself the
other way around, It could be.
Speaker 6 (13:49):
Around right, What better ending if we're if we're.
Speaker 4 (13:52):
Doing his autobiography, like if we're doing a movie based
on Lebron's life, what better potential ending than him and
his son on the court the same time.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
N B a real game, it's awesome. That's the time,
there's no doubt. But he's got so many moments. That's
the big joker, no matter what, right, no matter what, I'm.
Speaker 3 (14:14):
Saying that that might be the thing we think of first.
Speaker 7 (14:17):
I'm with Mike.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
That's why I'm saying, like Jordan might be the first
thing we think of him playing He was the first
player to play with his son.
Speaker 6 (14:27):
Absolutely, and that that's like having a little joker.
Speaker 4 (14:30):
So if he's and by that I mean no matter
who he's sitting at the table with outside of Jordan,
he's got the little joker. I don't care if it's Magic,
if it's Bird, if it's Shock, any of.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
Them he pull he's a different argument.
Speaker 7 (14:42):
Right.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
And the only reason I talk I talked is basketball.
I'm talking on the court. I'm not talking about all the.
Speaker 6 (14:49):
I'm talking on the court.
Speaker 4 (14:50):
To Christal, we're talking to fellas at the picnic, the
NBA Basketball Top one hundred Picnic. He can say I
want as many championships almost everybody here. I was so good,
I played long enough to play with my son. The
only the only joker that's bigger than his is Michael
Coreach in his pocket and pull out the six rings.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
Well again, to me, those are two different conversations.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
I mean, because some of that's on Brianni being good enough,
and yes, that's a credit to Lebron's developing him.
Speaker 3 (15:21):
To some degree.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
But some of that's on Brianni was just better than
Michael Jordan's son at basketball, you know what I mean?
That's I mean, you can't not all on the on
the basketball player.
Speaker 3 (15:31):
But let's sort out to the listeners.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox, What do you
think will be Lebron James's legacy? And obviously he's gonna
be great, But I mean, we mean, what's the first
thing fifteen years from now, twenty years from now that
you believe people will think of when.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
They think of Lebron James? Will it?
Speaker 1 (15:54):
Will it be he played with his son? Will it
send the most all time leading scorer? Will it be
e Mogul?
Speaker 3 (16:01):
What will it be? Your thoughts next?

in what would be the first thing people think of
ten twenty years from now when Lebron James' name comes
up your thoughts?
Speaker 4 (17:40):
Yeah, A lot going on. First, we want to welcome
in Big Mike and with you Ta, you're on the
odd couple. What you got for us?
Speaker 2 (17:45):
Brother?
Speaker 9 (17:46):
Hey man, I really appreciate you guys taking the call.
Appreciate you guys not being the great haters that everybody
else is just because the Lakers did take Brinnie and
talk about you don't deserve this or that any anytime
somebody gets picked, they deserved it because somebody thought enough
of them to be able to try and put him
on their team or what have you and everything. Lebron,
(18:07):
his legacy is gonna be his legacy. He's gonna be
that he was the leading scorer of all time, he
played X amount of years, twenty two years by the
time he's done, because he's gonna play at least two
or Briannie and then you know, depending on if you
win another ship chip before he leaves. You know, all
of those things that go in.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
So you think the basketball is what people will think
of first, I definitely don't think people are gonna think of.
Speaker 3 (18:30):
All time leading score.
Speaker 6 (18:31):
I don't either.
Speaker 3 (18:32):
That's not gonna be the first thing people think of.
Speaker 9 (18:34):
They're gonna say his basketball greatness. But in order what
made him so great? Okay, longevity, right, winning chips different places,
and the records that he did set. I mean, you know,
as you mentioned as that, like, hey, he's one of
the best. Michael Jordan's just mentioned because of the great
(18:56):
things that he did and that great athleticism, but his chips, right,
all of those things. So he'll be mentioned the same
as that. You know, it won't be like, oh man,
he had his son played with him or whatever those
type of things. It'll be that'll be icing on the cake.
He'd be like the Grifflies. You know, hey, they got
to play together before you know, one of them among
(19:18):
it up and everything said, all right.
Speaker 6 (19:21):
Thank you, good Andre in Massachusetts. You're on the odd couple.
What you got, big dog?
Speaker 7 (19:28):
Hey, don, thanks for taking the call. Listen, Lebron's legacy,
it's cemented second greatest or greatest.
Speaker 10 (19:34):
Of all time.
Speaker 7 (19:35):
Somebody that was a mogul and a captive industry off
the court, had a social justice consciousness. Those things are
ingrained this Bronni saga at the end of his career.
I think it's gonna mirror when Michael Jordan kind of
came back from the Wizards, you know, not the same Georgan.
You know, we don't like to really talk about it,
but it is like you do have that footage of
like Vince Carter flying past him. Listen, it's not about
(19:57):
again lebron all due respect, but this is the train
wreck waiting to happen. That's what That's the reality.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
We're gonna Why do you say that.
Speaker 7 (20:06):
Because Bronnie James under no indicator is an NBA prospect
period and the story and he's going to be forced now.
And by the way, Bronnie, I love how like the
family is kind of like you don't really hear much
from Bronnie, and like, you know, you do need a
certain amount of sheltering when you are the son of
like the most recognizable face on earth. That's all gone now.
Bronnie himself is going to be pushed out, not just
(20:28):
on the court but in the media. He's not prepared period.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
And the story well, everything we've heard from him and
and look he hasn't faced what he's going to but
everything we've heard from him.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
Lisa handled himself well with the media.
Speaker 7 (20:46):
Chris, I appreciate that, and I'm not I'm not a
naysayer or a DeBie downer. I just know that, like
with the whole child prodigy thing, and like Bronnie is
that he's not a prodigy necessarily skill level, but being
the son of a famous person. At at the end
of the day, because they don't have to go to
the same step, it generally doesn't work out.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
Well.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
Nobody, I mean we don't. We haven't seen it. Like
nobody expects.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
Brownie to be half as good as lebron And we're
real talk like the expectations are low.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
We're gonna get more into this load later in the show.
Speaker 6 (21:17):
We got Don Mitchell energy. But I'm just telling you,
Brian is gonna be a balling well.
Speaker 1 (21:21):
We're gonna get We're gonna get more into this in
the negative reaction because it has been strong about Briannie
being drafted by the Lakers. John Mitchell from the Locked
On seventy six Ers podcast is coming up next, but.
Speaker 2 (21:35):
First, Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup
in the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports
radio dot com. And within the iHeartRadio app search FSR

Speaker 1 (21:47):
Our next guest goes way back with me Wave, I
mean back shoot twenty five years or so, twenty late nineties.
Speaker 3 (22:02):
Late nineties.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
He was caught covering the Washington I guess I think
they were the Bullets at that time.
Speaker 11 (22:08):
You know what, Chris, I picked him up when they
had just transitioned from the Bullets to the Wizards.
Speaker 1 (22:14):
Okay, okay, and you covered it for the Washington Times
and I was covering the Cavs for the Acronbeacon Journal.
Speaker 3 (22:20):
We met each other and been friends ever since.
Speaker 1 (22:23):
But John Mitchell, hosts of the Locked On seventy six
Ers podcast.
Speaker 3 (22:27):
Welcome to the show, brother.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
We got Sean King, former NFL quarterback, in for Rob Parker,
and so you sent me like some of your podcasts today,
and there's so much man to talk about with the Sixers,
And I was saying on first things first yesterday, Look,
they've got sixty million dollars in cap space. No other
(22:51):
good team has even close to the amount of money
they have, and they could come up empty. Like how
much of a thought is that? In film Philadelphia?
Speaker 11 (23:01):
You know, CB is first of all, I'm glad to
being here. It's always great to hear your voice. Brother. Yeah,
there is a very palpable feeling that they could come
up empty, you know, because Paul George has been the
apple of their guy of their eye for weeks now,
and you know, you heard and then the reports coming
out that he had lost some interest, had lost interest
(23:24):
in him. You know, now Jimmy Butler's off the table.
Lebron looks like he's going to be in lost. I mean,
they had all these people who they were saying, hey,
if you put this guy next to Joelle Mbe and
next time he's Max and you got some forced there.
But you know, it looks, you know that they very
well could come up empty. They cook with you know,
(23:46):
and it would just look really bad on down boyd.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
Now let me ask you this quickly.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
The reports that they had lost interest in George, was
that a kind of a smoke screen or a been
because it looked like he wasn't really feeling them a ton.
And then the reports come out like, well, they're not
that high on him, or do you think that actually
is the case that he was not as high on
(24:12):
their list as everyone thought.
Speaker 11 (24:15):
Now I think he was high on the list. My
feeling is that he was high on he was high
on their list. I just kind of get the feeling
now that he You know, when a guy makes fifty
millions dollars a years, like you can live wherever you
want to and off season company, you can live wherever
you want to. But we keep hearing how he is
attached to the West Coast, right, I think Florida could
be allure because they got young kids down there. The
(24:36):
pressure won't be as intense and he can play a
little bit more loosely. But if he comes to Philadelphia,
you know, and at one point he said that he
just wanted to play the right way. That was the
most important thing for him to do. And when people
and Philly heard it, they're like, hey, man, we haven't
been to an NBA finals since two thousand and one,
(24:58):
almost a quarter of a century go, and you know
we haven't.
Speaker 10 (25:01):
We haven't gotten past the second round since.
Speaker 11 (25:04):
So that just didn't fly too well here. But I
think they if they could get Paul George at this point,
it would almost say the reputation of Don Moore because
he really hasn't done anything. He's been with the seventy six.
Speaker 4 (25:17):
I said yesterday that I thought Mad the Magic was
the perfect destination for Paul George. Well, my question is this,
how is Joel Embiid viewed by his peers. It doesn't
seem like guys are are just clamoring too to head
to Philly to play with him. How has he thought
of inside the league?
Speaker 11 (25:38):
You know, we talk about this a lot. Keith and
my partner locked on sixes. It's strange showing you asked
that question because you have a guy I think he's
pounds a pound the most talented player in the leg.
But you have you have to go back to that
cliche the best ability of availability, because so often he's
(26:01):
not there. During his ten years with the seventy six ers,
he's missed a total of three hundred and thirty six
games to injuries. So that translates to four seasons carried
to eight. You know.
Speaker 10 (26:14):
So, and I think people are saying and he's not
the easiest person to play with because he spends a
lot of time in a high post. See sometimes he
crowds the guys.
Speaker 11 (26:25):
On the perimeter. I think sometimes it's a sign of
a selfish player. I really do, because sometimes the news
got to play bully ball, and he's got guys gifts
to play bullyball, and he just doesn't do it. I mean,
I remember two years ago Miami was guarding him with PJ.
Tucker and it's like, come on, man, you got to
take him into you got to take him down to
the weight room. So I just don't know. And he's
(26:48):
so far, he's proved me right that Joe Well does
not appear to be a magnet for other players to
come and play with him.
Speaker 1 (26:55):
Now, I totally agree with you, and I'm like, look,
he is a phenomenal mid range jump shooter, and I
don't want to take that away from him because he is.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
He's legitimately one of the best in the league. But
when it's time and we.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
Need a bucket or we want to draw files on
him or whatever it is, he he needs to go
down low and he just won't do it.
Speaker 3 (27:17):
How do people feel, because you're you hit on the head.
Speaker 1 (27:20):
Even if he plays in the playoff games, he's not
one hundred percent, you know, he might be seventy five percent,
and that's part of why his production goes down and
he may have to miss a game or two in
a seven game series. How do people feel about him
playing in the Olympics. I'm like, he the last dude.
I mean, Kawhi, Anthony Davis, You NBA, you can't get
(27:44):
through a season.
Speaker 3 (27:45):
What are you doing playing in the Olympics.
Speaker 11 (27:48):
Yeah, I think people. I think people have mixed feelings
about it. He's thirty years old now, and I still
think he needs that role mouth to be in his ear.
You know, hopefully everything settle from the surgery. But for
a guy who, like you said, for a guy who
can't get who never ever ever, it's like clockwork, you know,
right May, when May gets here, once the flowers start
(28:11):
to come out of grass gets green, Joel's hurt, you know.
So and Chris the thing I think he needs to do.
You know, he's listed two hundred and eighty pounds. He
had two two hundred eighty pounds a year through every year.
He plays himself in shape. Great players don't do that.
Great players show up in shape. He has to come
in at a legitimate, legitimate two hundred and seventy five
(28:35):
pounds and take some of that weight off of the knees.
Speaker 3 (28:37):
Well, how true is it?
Speaker 1 (28:38):
Because I've read stories that he did change his diet
and he's really worked on that, but I don't see
it in his health or in his size. You're right
about that, do you? I mean, do you think he
does still you know, take care of you know, his nutrition.
Speaker 11 (28:54):
And all that, or you know, I don't know how
serious he takes it. I will say that I thought
he came into this season, uh, in better condition and
in fairness to Joel when he did get hurt, it
was it wasn't one of those where he's you know,
he's running kaminga fell on his leg and there was
nowhere for his There was nowhere for his need to
(29:17):
go between Comingu's two hundred and thirty five pounds and
their hard floor in San Francisco. So unfortunate for him.
It was, you know, he but the body was showing
signs of wearing. Tared eat it up to that point
because that happened a week after he put seventy on
San Antonio.
Speaker 4 (29:35):
Oh John Baby had a boot boo. That's all what
Austin Rivers said. It was most ridiculous. Uh, the NBA
draft just happened. Uh saans getting to Paul George or
one of these dynamic wings that have multiple All Star Games.
I did think Jack McCain was by far the best
player at Duke. What are the expectations for the rookie
(29:55):
next year in Philadelphia?
Speaker 11 (29:59):
Well, it's it's interesting because he has opportunities because they're
only two players signed the contract. I think the reality
of it is is you don't as good as he's
a very good shooter at six to two, he's undersized
and you don't want to play him alongside Tyreeese for
a long period of time. Uh, he is a shooter,
he doesn't distribute the ball very well. They see him
(30:21):
in a perfect world, and of course the world's never
been perfect, but they see him as a guy coming
off the bench and being able to nail three, as
a guy who can spread the floor and create for
Joe well when he's out there.
Speaker 1 (30:35):
All right, there it is. That's our man, John Mitchell.
Great stuff as always, brother. It is great to catch
up with you, and thank you for the info, my man.
All right, y'all, peef, Yeah, have a good weekend all right?

Is that Wicker Rap? Look at you, CB that you
remember that.
Speaker 4 (31:14):
Sean a little younger than me and you hit the
horn section like getting it back up.
Speaker 3 (31:19):
The wick A Rap that was.
Speaker 1 (31:21):
That was a jam. I think that was a regional jam.
But that's not it. But that's similar beat.
Speaker 10 (31:28):
Yea.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
The Wicker Rap had this similar beat. All right, Uh,
it's time for shop talk.
Speaker 3 (31:33):
The come. Ain't nobody ain't snipping the bump shop you
know that.
Speaker 8 (31:37):
Ain't nobody you were talking about whoever, whatever, whatever you
want to in the bosh, you know.
Speaker 5 (31:44):
Shopped talking shout out the DJ Alex Hads were making
Christmas looks absolutely foolish.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
On that last he was so proud of himself.
Speaker 5 (31:52):
He was gassing and that was the beat though it
wasn't that the.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
Real hardcore fans though.
Speaker 5 (31:59):
When I'm talking about all right, remember this segment is
shop talk, where we talk about something happened outside of
the world of sports. This week's topic comes to us
again from Hollywood because, as you guys remember, at the Oscars,
a couple of years back, Will Smith had the slap
around the world stage on Chris Rock.
Speaker 6 (32:19):
Wait what staged?
Speaker 3 (32:21):
Did you hear him, Roger? I did hear that?
Speaker 9 (32:23):
All right?
Speaker 3 (32:23):
When he's done explaining that you're gonna.
Speaker 5 (32:25):
Have to so okay, So that obviously happened. It was
a big deal.
Speaker 6 (32:29):
It was.
Speaker 5 (32:29):
It was a moment in time. Right while in the
latest Bad Boys movie, Right or Die, there is a
scene where they're calling it the quote slap scene, and
Chris Rock and his camp are not happy about it.
They told Variety magazine that a source close to Chris
Rock thinks it's a pretty cheap stunt, and he's telling
people how lame he finds it. It's a classic case
of Will making light of a horrific situation. Will's playing
(32:53):
the victim. It was the lowest point of his career.
But that's no excuse, Shawn, since you said the whole
thing was a stunt to be getting with. We'll get
your thoughts first. The initials pooling reaction to the movie.
Speaker 4 (33:06):
Come on, man, it's a little truth controlling. Come on, Chris,
no grown man. That's another grown man slap him on
national television. And he has absolutely no aggressive reaction whatsoever.
Speaker 6 (33:20):
That's not possible.
Speaker 1 (33:25):
I don't see how in the why why would they
stayed something like that?
Speaker 3 (33:32):
Well, and that's like why.
Speaker 4 (33:33):
We've been we've been we've been talking about Chris Rock
and Will Smith ever since, right.
Speaker 1 (33:37):
Yeah, but they were big anyway, It darn near ruined
Will Swiss's career and I and I think, look, I saw.
Speaker 3 (33:44):
The Bad Boys? What is Bad Boys for? Did you
see it yet, Sean?
Speaker 6 (33:48):
I haven't. I've not seen it yet.
Speaker 3 (33:51):
It was good. I enjoyed it.
Speaker 1 (33:53):
Went to see it on Father's Day with my wife
and one of my daughters, and we really enjoyed it.
It was basically, I mean, a different storyline, but essentially
the same as the first three. But they all were good,
right yeah, yeah, so it was it was on that
same level it was. It wasn't a notch below it was.
It was really good and he was great. I mean,
(34:16):
he did a great job. But and even though the
movie's clearly been a hit, I don't think he's fully
still fully recovered from the slap, Like I think if
he had never done that, this movie would I don't
know if it'd be a bigger hit because it did
really well, but I just.
Speaker 3 (34:36):
Think he'd beginning even more love.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
I don't know, maybe on more talk shows, or is
he even on this talk show circuit doing anything?
Speaker 4 (34:44):
Like I know Martin's got Martin's going on tour, He's
got a comedy tour coming up.
Speaker 6 (34:48):
I guess he's got new material. I'm not sure about
will Yeah.
Speaker 3 (34:51):
I mean, I just I don't. I don't. He did
not benefit at all from this.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
I'm just saying, I mean, do I mean and Chris Rock,
like you said, ain't nobody I mean, Chris Ross doesn't.
Speaker 3 (35:04):
Look TV.
Speaker 6 (35:07):
Slaps you like even if you Chris is a small dude.
Speaker 4 (35:10):
Hey, Chris, even if you can't fight, you gotta fake
it and you want.
Speaker 1 (35:14):
To cause you know it's only gonna go so far
on national TV anyway.
Speaker 6 (35:18):
People people are telling, I'm glad.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
But real talk.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
Had he done that, ain't no telling what they would
have fell off the stage.
Speaker 4 (35:26):
People see that, they're they're taking your cafe latte from
Starbucks every time they see you.
Speaker 6 (35:31):
I mean, you can't walk.
Speaker 1 (35:33):
Them around after that, man, roll it up like yo,
get me one. I didn't get me one two. Don't
make me slap you up here, Noah, But I I Uh,
what was the question, Rober What were we talking.
Speaker 5 (35:49):
About any issue with any issue with the Chris Rocks
camp and him being upset in the movie.
Speaker 3 (35:55):
I saw the movie.
Speaker 1 (35:56):
I think the scene, I know the scene is talking
about at the end of the scene, the basically the
end of the movie, Martin slaps.
Speaker 3 (36:03):
Will Smith a few times. If I remember correctly, Rob.
Speaker 4 (36:06):
I didn't even make then. You didn't do anything live.
You can't do anything later.
Speaker 3 (36:12):
Facts.
Speaker 1 (36:13):
Oh, look at talking about fact like Rob knock, Will squat,
would I would have I wouldn't do it.
Speaker 6 (36:20):
You can't do it later.
Speaker 5 (36:21):
I might have lost the fight, but I ain't going
down like that.
Speaker 1 (36:26):
And well, if that's a fair point, Sean, like yo,
the time to do something jump bad was then right?
Speaker 5 (36:32):
And then the other issue with the whole thing is
it all started again if we're to believe that if
Sean's stinking stage, if it's not stage, it started with
Chris Rock making a joke about Will Smith's wife. Will
didn't like and he slapped him. So now when Will
Smith makes a joke about the situation, you definitely can't
be getting upset about it because it all started because
you made a joke about somebody.
Speaker 3 (36:55):
That's the fair I've known.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
You.
Speaker 3 (36:56):
Don't think Will would joke about Chris.
Speaker 4 (36:58):
You're you're one of the most cool, like humble, like
easy going people.
Speaker 6 (37:05):
I know.
Speaker 4 (37:06):
If Nick right wrong going again, Hey, if Nick right,
Rob Parker reach across the dusk and slap you in
your face, the brucesar gonna come out of Chris.
Speaker 1 (37:18):
Oh but look, hey, yeah, and the bruce Ards are
from the country.
Speaker 3 (37:22):
To buy you and Louisiana, so it definitely come out.
Speaker 1 (37:25):
First of all, they both know better, all right, they
know better.
Speaker 3 (37:30):
Better.
Speaker 1 (37:31):
Well, it was Chris Rock. Hold on, I'm glad you
said that. If that was I'm trying to think of
somebody who's a if that was even and I'm not
even saying I don't know if.
Speaker 4 (37:43):
That was like, if that was Bige, if that was Tyree,
somebody who's like the emotionally hijacked at times, that kind.
Speaker 3 (37:49):
Of going up there.
Speaker 1 (37:51):
But if it's if it's I mean, maybe even Jamie
Fox just because he got a little size to it.
I don't think Will Smiths even flapping him.
Speaker 3 (38:02):
That was one of the things like he knew and
on my worst.
Speaker 4 (38:06):
Day, I can decide when it comes to fighting I mean,
Javante Davis is five for five hundred and thirty five pounds.
Speaker 3 (38:15):
Yeah, he fight dudes. That's why we have weight classes.
Speaker 4 (38:22):
I mean, so you said Will was out of Chris
rock weight class.
Speaker 1 (38:26):
I was, I was, who's a Who's a uh, I'm
trying to think of a comedian.
Speaker 3 (38:32):
That's a Yeah. Will Smith's definitely.
Speaker 6 (38:33):
Out of here.
Speaker 1 (38:35):
I mean, I'm trying just somebody Steve Harvey. And I'm
not even saying Steve Harvey is like the toughest dude
in the world. I don't know, but I don't think
he's doing that.
Speaker 3 (38:45):
That's the thing.
Speaker 1 (38:47):
Do you think he's going up there and slapping Steve
Harvey or got some des I think.
Speaker 6 (38:52):
It was stage.
Speaker 4 (38:53):
It was so out of character for Will and then
the fact that there was no aggressive response whatsoever from
Chris Rock.
Speaker 6 (38:59):
I'll go to my great thinking it was staged.
Speaker 5 (39:01):
I'll tell you what sean to boost your your story
there is that Chris Rocks had a career resurgence. Since then,
He's got a tour with Kevin Hart, he got a
couple of Netflix specials, and he was not popping like
that for a long time.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
I mean, Chris Rock's always been hot.
Speaker 5 (39:15):
Not like that Chris.
Speaker 1 (39:16):
Yeah, he had that movie Top Five, which wasn't great.
But I'm just saying, like, Chris Rock is a superstar
before and after the slap.
Speaker 3 (39:24):
Keep It Lot couple
