Let's get this, Putties, you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
It's right, it is the Odd Couple. You just heard it.
Kelvin Washington, Carrie Rose, my man carry in for Rob.
Speaker 4 (00:36):
Rob having an extended VAK hopefully enjoying himself. And you know, Carrie,
we've been talking about when Rob is on VAK, we
all know it because he's gonna make sure you know
every move. It's gonna be detailed and chronological order where
he was sequentially. And but no, we have wishing him
a great time. It is a TV theme. So on Thursday,
(00:58):
on this Thursday, we got a lot to get you.
Of course, we got to get to the draft reactions,
so moving in the NBA. Also, we're gonna have Mark
Madina's gonna join us a little bit Fox Sports Radio
NBA Insider. We'll talk some more of the draft and
just kind of some of the trays carry that happened
over the last few days with him, and also your
favorite part of Thursday's ty shirts Tower of Trivia. Now,
(01:20):
I think about rob Gs, Carrie and I have I
ever done this without anyone else I have? Okay, Rob's like,
give me and you do this? It ain't that special. Yes,
you're right, you're right. Did I did smoke you?
Speaker 3 (01:32):
You're right?
Speaker 1 (01:32):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Bad, that's right.
Speaker 5 (01:33):
I don't think that's the case on the case because
you don't even have a good memory of what happened anyway,
So you're throwing out this random you beat me does
not sit well with me.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
Right Look, you're not playing the Dolphins right now, You're
not with the Jazzy, not playing here. You ain't gotta
get all competitive on me right always? I know, Yeah, yeah,
for sure, that's not gone anywhere. Kelvin, you lucky.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
It's not a trash talking Tuesday.
Speaker 5 (01:50):
And I was ready for that, real, I was really
I was hoping Tuesday and Thursday is flopped, man, little
flip flopped there.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
We got a big show line though, so we're gonna
have a good time.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
Let's welcome in the crew as all ways, we got
rob g the Goat producer. He's gonna be here throughout
the show helping us out as well. We got Iowa
sam Aka Alex Right, I'm just here so I don't
get fine. Just here so you won't get fine. All right,
I know what that means. Isaac Low and cron is
gonna be getting you set on what is happening updating
(02:18):
you throughout the evening as well. I Lo's in the building,
so we got a lot of tough to get to
looking forward to the show. All right, let's jump right in,
uh Man again. The draft happened to no surprise obviously
the number one pick.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
You you got excited. Oh you know what happened.
Speaker 4 (02:33):
So let mean for those who don't know, Carrie is
a Dallas Maverick fan, the only one around Yeah in
this area, well in this area, you know you're right
because they all became Laker fans exactly. So before I
really jump into a couple of thoughts, I want to
get into just your initial reaction. And we kind of
knew what was gonna happen, but it finally happened, and
(02:53):
we thought maybe Nico Harrison would go Nico Harrison right
and do something crazy and go up and get Ace
Bailey or something, or just traded way for Yannis or something.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
But here we are, Cooper Flax. There your initial thought
as a Math fan.
Speaker 5 (03:04):
Man, you know what the crazy part about that for
me is it's a double whammy for me. I'm a
Duke fan too, so I followed him for a while.
So this is somebody I've actually saying, not just hyperbole,
not just not just people's own reactions about this kid.
Like this kid I saw up close and personal, and
I know everything that they're saying about him is true.
(03:25):
And so once you get to you know, not just
only see him in all his glory with Duke, but
actually have some some type of kinship with him on
that journey. The kid is everything. That's everything that he's
advertised to be. And not just from a plan perspective.
I mean, as a number one pick, you should be
able to play, but the intangibles that he brings to
(03:47):
that team right now, through the tumultuous season that they
just had, He's going to be a steadying factor. He's
going to be a guy that works hard and the
results are going to be the results because he works hard.
And so that's why I'm not worried about the hype
or you know, him not meeting the expectations, because the
expectations are the expectations. But the guy is a good
guy and he's gonna do all the things he needs
(04:09):
to do to be the best version of you. You
won't have to worry about him carry failing because he
didn't try, because he didn't work hard, right, because he
just rested on his loyal loyal and just laurels and say,
I'm just I'm good.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
I should be here. I was a number one pick.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
No, No, We've been talking about this throughout the week
and I keep saying We've had different stories.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
People say, well, what does he do elite? What is
the elita?
Speaker 4 (04:29):
And I keep saying his elite aside from his athleticism,
and there are people more athletic, but that is I
would argue elite.
Speaker 5 (04:35):
And then I said, it is that he plays hard
day in day out, killset, works hard, and people's awe.
I mean everybody know that is not true.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
Guys get to get league, get money, Guys don't get
played because I'm not getting the shots, so I don't
play quite as hard or well, I'm gonna save it
for certain nights just a TNT night or well now
it's an ESBN NBC night, and you know what I mean.
And he's gonna be night in, night out, and on
the stuff don't see, Yes, the practice, the lifting weights,
to all the other stuff.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
You don't have to worry about drama.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
So to me, I'm like, all of that aside are
along with elite athleticism, Gonna work on that jump shot,
get even better.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
Sure, gonna play great defense, so that's a given, yep.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
And so to me, all of those things are gonna
add up perfectly well to a great young player who
you can slide in at any given point.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
Before you before you leave.
Speaker 5 (05:25):
Like, the other point with that is he's going into
a situation that's a winning situation.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
How many times?
Speaker 5 (05:31):
How many times do you get a top draft pick
that gets to go to a team that's ready to win.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
We've seen it a couple of times.
Speaker 5 (05:37):
You know, Tim duncan wim to the Spurs, but only
because there was injuries, right, this Dallas team was injured.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
Their main guys, Kyrie A. D were injured.
Speaker 5 (05:45):
So you get to walk into a situation where you
get to learn from Kyrie A D. Clay's it's a
win win well.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
So here you got that.
Speaker 4 (05:55):
Nico Harrison, who's running the basketball operations over there, had
this to say about Cooper flag.
Speaker 6 (06:02):
I think it's two things. I think it's win now.
It's also winning the future. And we don't know when
eventually it's gonna be Cooper's team. We don't know when
that when that transition will happen. So I think it's
win now and then set yourself up to win in
the future as well.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
Well you mister fan fan of the MAVs, mass fan.
He's talking about you can win now, win in the future,
win tomorrow, win ten.
Speaker 5 (06:27):
Just a lot of winning in the future coming. Hold up,
is what I have to say to all of that. Oh,
here we go now, all right on paper? Yes, I
likes what I see. Okay, you talked about it. Kyrie
Irvans still playing at a high level. Anthony Davis playing
at a really high level as well. You got Lively,
you got Gaffert, you got you got other Clay. You
(06:49):
gotta tat the piece of PJ. Washington. By the way,
I just PJ Washington. I mentioned it the other day.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
Every four years we get a guy whoever becomes man
if we could just get Ah, it was Rudy Gay
for years.
Speaker 5 (07:00):
Man, we were Rooty Gay away. It was Tobias Harris.
To me, PJ.
Speaker 4 (07:04):
Washington has become that new guy you're like. Man, if
we could just get like a like a PJ. Washington
for those teams that are right there, you know, just
we need another guy who gets that, like the Knicks
forensic for instance.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (07:15):
Man, if we just had like a PJ. Washington, he's
gonna be that new thing you guy for me.
Speaker 4 (07:19):
But with that being said, man, Carrie, listen, I liked
what I see on paper. But this was my issue
with the initial trade of Luca. It wasn't just that
you traded Luca, although that was hard to get past.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
Man, that's crazy.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
It was that you traded him and your whole point was,
I don't know, it could be a catastrophic injury coming.
He didn't take care of his body. But so you
got a guy who's six years older in ad who
is proven to be injured a lot in his career,
and then you paired him with.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
And off injured Kyrie.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
Yeah, so that was what you didn't pair him with
Michael Bridges, iron Man, who hasn't missed a game in
his NBA career. You paired him with injured Kyrie, and
then what happened Game one with ad and it was
so exciting too, but he.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
Gets injured.
Speaker 5 (08:06):
So this is where I'm apprehensive, is that you gotta
wait all the way to what you can say optimistically
March with Kyrie coming back April.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
I think could be back before that. But okay, but
let's say it Ebruary. I'll even grant you that.
Speaker 4 (08:21):
Sure, February he goes to a voodoo doctor, they put
something on his knee. He's back February, but he gotta
he has to work back into shape. Okay, roll all
that time, you're banking on Anthony Davis not being injured
so that your team is in a good position, you know,
and it's the standings. I don't know if that's gonna
be the case. So now I got an old Klay
Thompson who's off injured, now Kyrie a d with.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
A rookie, and I'm like, on paper, I get it.
Speaker 4 (08:46):
But that's asking for a lot for all those guys
to hold up and hold up at the same time.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
Okay, he's back, Wait, hold on, now, you get back,
all right? Now?
Speaker 4 (08:53):
We gotta be best already to roll come April and May.
I just don't know if they're gonna be built for that.
I like it on paper, but I'm skeptical of the
injury report. Yeah, come the late spring. Yeah, but that's
every team. No, no, no, no, let's listen.
Speaker 5 (09:07):
What you're saying, though, is if something happens, and yes,
we've seen it happen, so it's not like it can't happen.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
But that's every team.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
You have to have luck, you have to have health
throughout the season, and so if you don't have those things,
nobody's a contender.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
Right.
Speaker 5 (09:22):
So all we have right now is that hypothetical of
what we see on paper, right, like man, man, man, like,
all these things add up.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
In a stack up right.
Speaker 5 (09:33):
Boston coming into this year, we thought they were prohibited favorite,
right like they are. They were injuries derailed them. It
wasn't a team that beat them, it was injuries.
Speaker 3 (09:41):
Right.
Speaker 5 (09:41):
So that's always the case when you look at the
same and you talk about Nico saying this is a
win now, this is a win in the future as well.
This window with this group is going to be short.
So Cooper, if he gets all that, he needs to
get done in these couple, these first two, I would say,
two years with this unit that they have, and it
doesn't work out the way hypothetically hypothetically it could or couldn't.
(10:06):
They still have a core with Cooper Flag, d live Gafford, PJ.
Washington who will attract other people. And don't forget, they're
also right now going after another point guard that can
be a stop gap until Kyrie gets back. That's a starter,
that should be a start in his lead, that type
of that type of person.
Speaker 3 (10:24):
So this same is still good. Now.
Speaker 5 (10:26):
I win a championship, that's just that's far fats. We
don't know what that looks like until we see all
of them together. But right now I'm loving it. Man,
I'm not mad at it. I like it on paper.
It is again hypothetical. We'll have to wait and see. Uh,
but I don't know about the win now. I'm not
as high on the win.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
Now.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
There's some other teams that I can feel like like
I've have like how.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
Many By the way, Rob g was that Eddie House
who had the Mavericks going to the Western Conference final yesterday?
Speaker 3 (10:52):
Yes, there you go, I said, excuse me, Eddie. Yeah,
And Phillis, by the way, or both of them both
both did. Dang, I don't know Edie Edie fools scores
that he they can make a run. Rashad said the.
Speaker 4 (11:05):
HS was you're right because I said Houston and he
about laughed me off.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
No, no, Houston can make it round.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
He laughed because he said, you don't think Kevin Durant
is the piece, And I'm like, well, it's not that
he is not.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
He has to be their savior.
Speaker 5 (11:18):
Dude.
Speaker 4 (11:18):
They got Am and Thompson gonna be leaps and bounds better.
Sagoon down load, Fred Van.
Speaker 5 (11:22):
VLEs if you missed this guy, we're gonna We're gonna
have a problem. Keep going saying, yeah, Jabari Smith Jacks
my guy. Yeah, him paired with Kevin Durant and learning
the tricks of the trade. Oh, I'm excited to see him. Well, yeah,
I was too, too, Yoda. Rashan Phillis was laughing it off.
I'm like, I thought Kevin Durant fit perfectly over there,
(11:42):
and yeah, so but again, Cooper Flagg there now is
in a role pick and also I like to.
Speaker 3 (11:50):
That he doesn't. He's not just a man.
Speaker 4 (11:52):
All I can do is shoot because he can fit
right in and they can say, all right, ad is
gonna be down low. He's gonna do his thing, And
that actually is kind of scary if Anthony Davis is engaged,
healthy and active defensively, which he usually is.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
Yes, And then you.
Speaker 4 (12:06):
Pair him with Cooper who gets to roam and kind
of roll and be a secondary defender. Guy gets by somebody,
he's coming for the block, passing lanes with that athleticism.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
Speak man.
Speaker 4 (12:16):
I like that, I will. I will admit that is
kind of scary. You mentioned with Lively, and that's don't
go down there trying to score.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
I'm telling you that front line.
Speaker 5 (12:25):
Fron I'll give you that frontline defensively is kind of scary.
But I like that he night in the night out.
Speaker 4 (12:30):
And you know what reminded me of and the only
reason I didn't bring him up because he wasn't a
number one pick when you brought Tim Duncan.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
It reminds me of Kawhi.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
I think they got him at eleven and he gets
to just come in, be under Tony Parker, Ginobili, dunking
all these guys, be one of the guys, and then
you like, oh, this guy's really really good defensively Okay,
he's athletic getting out on the break.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (12:53):
Oh, mid range kind of coming around a little bit
and you look up and you're like, man, he's a
finals MVP of that twenty.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
F fourteen teen shout out to that, shout.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
Out to Steve Bmber. I don't know he did that.
Steve Mamber did that. So I like that he can
just kind of fit in and float. What do you
need from tonight?
Speaker 5 (13:11):
Oh you just need eight points, twelve rebounds, three blocks,
got you, okay, so now you needed me to go
and a lot of points in fast break.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
You know who?
Speaker 4 (13:17):
Also liking it to offensively speaking Pascal Siakama that you
don't have to say call plays. I can get it
in transition. I can get it just you know, put
some putbacks. I can get it in a little mid
range here there early on Pascal, where we can make saying,
I don't know, he's kind of good. I don't know
what he does great, but he's just good. And I
see that where you at on and what he can
(13:39):
actually bring immediately.
Speaker 5 (13:41):
And I was gonna I was gonna ask you that too,
But for me, it's he's gonna score fourteen just off effort.
So I would see him early on. I mean this year,
pubably in a sixteen to eighteen range, and I.
Speaker 4 (13:54):
Don't I might even go lower to your thirteen four
but because I don't need like I might necessarily need it.
Speaker 5 (13:59):
Yeah, I just say that because he's gonna play hard right.
Like again, I don't think they will run a lot
of plays. But the thing I do see with them,
I know they want to push the pace a little
bit more than they have in the past. Obviously with
Luka gone, they want to push it. I can see
him playing that point forward position right, and the ball
can be in his hands a lot more.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
He can make a lot of plays too.
Speaker 5 (14:18):
And with that, with all the lob threats that he
has in Dallas, now you're gonna have to make decisions.
And he's a really good lob throws. Because we saw
that with half his team. It up to everybody right
tomorrow watching those guys. But man, listen, I think he's
going to average around like in that sixteen to eighteen range,
and I think he's going to be obviously Rookie of
the Year. But I mean that's going to be competition
(14:39):
there because the guys are in worse situations, right, This
draft wasn't. This was one of the more deeper ones, guys.
Speaker 4 (14:49):
And I mean, as Bailey might go up there and
finally bring some jazz to the jazz, because ain't no
jazz up there, No no, no, no, a yes, and ourselves
roll around. I know you're live, but Daz, he gonna
ASTs me. Rolling Aron is great right now, Mile Davis
rolling Arond's great. Y'all the jazz. Utah, I mean he
was too, you saw. He's Bailey's face, but yeah, drafted
to the giant man. You gotta little he gotta work
on it. He gotta work on his hide in your face. Hey,
(15:11):
I got I'm gonna do something about that. I'll tell you, yeah,
i gotta host the Emmys around here, and I'm gonna
do a little something about it. If you get don't
get you know, any of your nomination at the other person.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
Yeah, good job, Okay, good job. You gotta work on
that face. Good job.
Speaker 4 (15:24):
He's Bailey face saying what Utah, you.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
Gotta hidef his agent.
Speaker 4 (15:29):
I'm kicking with menje well, actually agents the reason why
he had that face. We'll talk about that as well,
all right, so you like, is this a win now
win in the future as well? Nico said, I'm getting
both of them. I'm winning now and in the future.
I say, Nico, hold up, you're slipping. You're tripping a
little bit. Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. Do

was like, because it takes two to tango. Even if
I wanted to tangle, she ain't tangled. All right, Let's
take a quick call.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
Is that a call?
Speaker 5 (17:33):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (17:33):
Yeah, we're taking quick call. You had this Andre, our
guy in Massachusetts. Andre, you're on with the couple of
Fox Sports Radio Nico Harrison saying, Andre, it's.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
When now, when tomorrow? When?
Speaker 2 (17:43):
Later?
Speaker 3 (17:43):
When? All the time what you say, Andre, Andre is
saying nothing?
Speaker 4 (17:52):
Oh there is no Andre, going once, going twice? All right,
he'll call.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
Yeah, thanks for wasting our call.
Speaker 4 (18:00):
Yeah, am I to say, you know he's about to
break it down and get philosophical too. We'll see if
he calls back, if we get him or not. But yeah,
just to put a button on. I do think it
is interesting though, Andre. Now you gotta wait, hold on, Andrea,
let me get my thought off that. Nico Harrison also
said fortune favors the bold.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
Yeah he did.
Speaker 5 (18:22):
He's doing too much and this is coming from the math.
He's doing too much with that one.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
Bruh. Count your blessings in hush. Yes, fortune favors of bowl.
Speaker 4 (18:31):
How about fortune favorites the misfortunate in the NBA, meaning
your misfortune? Because Lebron leaves Cleveland. Oh you just happen
to get the number one pick. Yeah, you suck all
those years in Cleveland and there's a kid coming up
of Akron.
Speaker 5 (18:45):
Oh you get the number one pick, which is Lebron. Yeah,
oh eighty leaves for the Lakers. Oh you just haven't
get the number one pick. If you new Orleans, you
get Zion.
Speaker 4 (18:54):
All the Knicks haven't been good and we don't know
how long, and then all of a sudden, there's this
kid coming up to Georgetown in nineteen eighty five. Oh,
you just happy to get Patrick Gill. I mean you
can just falling down the line. Fortune favors the ball.
Speaker 5 (19:05):
No, fortune favors the ones the league say, are we
gotta throw them at leasers? We got to look out
for him. Come on, now, you go on conspiracy theory
over here?
Speaker 3 (19:12):
Am I wrong?
Speaker 5 (19:13):
You're not wrong, but don't do that. It favors the bowl. Baby,
I'm with you, Nico. I'm with you, Nico.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
Man.
Speaker 4 (19:22):
You want some floor seats? Andre Massachusetts? What's up, Drake?
Speaker 7 (19:27):
How you doing? Thanks for taking the call. Yeah. Fortune
does favor the bold when the NBA gives you a
possibly generational player after you pushed all your chips in
them into the middle and traded away a first ballot
Hall of Famer who's actually a generational. So from Nico
Harrison's perspective, I do think they're in win now mode
based on the fact that the fan base will come
back from storming the gates, which they were ready to
(19:50):
do after you ship Luga Dancias out of there. So
they're not going to be contenders in this Western Conference.
Never mind Kevin Durant going to Houston, Oklahoma City is
still going to be there. Other teams are trying to
make moves. So this doesn't take the Dallas Mavericks out
of the plane and put them with the elite of
the West. But it does inspire hope.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
Oh Andre, They're not even content.
Speaker 7 (20:11):
This is good and going forward, Cooper Flag I think
he will develop. I think he will be a first
a first team type of player. But that's my confidence
in Jason Kidd, who my Knicks tried to get. If
that wasn't gonna happen, developing him in well, you don't.
Speaker 4 (20:26):
Know it was gonna happen. I mean you need they
Thanks for the call to Dre. They don't have a
coach you, hey, carry you spent some time in New York.
They call you.
Speaker 5 (20:36):
No, they did not, I know, you know the basketball.
I'm just saying that we want to revolutionize and be innovative. Hey,
get you to be the coach. If they would have,
I actually would have considered have you a coach before?
Speaker 3 (20:45):
No, don't even worry about that. Exactly.
Speaker 4 (20:47):
Yeah, well maybe they are calling Doug Godlee. Maybe he
getting a call as well. I mean, to my goodness, man,
I don't know the knicks. How you fire somebody on it?
How are you the numbers that you're the nixt the
biggest market in America, blah blah blah blah, And you
don't have a coach.
Speaker 5 (21:01):
And in the East right now, if you keep the
continuity with that team and the head coach in this
East right now, Boston's out of it right now, Milwaukee's
out of it right now, you would probably be the
number one seed. I mean, I think Magic are gonna
have something to say with that, right, But I couldn't
hear some how you said the Pistons go ahead, and
the Pistons as well, No, one hundred percent, so why
not keep him?
Speaker 3 (21:21):
Anyway?
Speaker 5 (21:21):
That was crazy man, And James Dolan just a couple
months prior, said, man, we got to stop getting rid
of people and making these moves for shiny things.
Speaker 4 (21:28):
We gotta stick what we got to think. That's been
our problem. We always chase the shiny thing. Yeah, finally
get continuity and you do that exactly all right?
Speaker 1 (21:35):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (21:35):
But yeah, and then the other story and you could
argue was a bigger story than Cooper Flagg because that
was kind of a given. Is Ace Bailey? Do we
like what A's Bailey was doing? We'll tell you on
the other side of what's trending right now? But I
lo Isaac Longcron, what's up?
Speaker 3 (21:48):
I low?
Speaker 2 (21:49):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to live.
Speaker 4 (22:01):
And it is the Odd Couple kelvin Washington, carry Roads
And for Rob Parker on this TV theme song Thursday,
speaking of he's in our face right now on the
TV there A's Bailey. By the way, listen, every ten years,
you know, five years we have the look at the
eras of the suits, right they had the big shuits
or they had the smaller shuits, or they were the
European style, whatever it is.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
This is the Ice Doyle era. O.
Speaker 4 (22:23):
Man, these kids coming in with Taylor made massive medallions
and chains and links and just got lee.
Speaker 5 (22:30):
They've been getting paid, they've been getting paid. They gotta
hide it, Nope, ain't gotta rent nothing, Nope. Hey, agent,
spot me one hundred thousand for some Joe I'm getting.
I've had this made since I graduated high school. My goodness, yes, nuts,
this kid's ice off.
Speaker 4 (22:45):
But as Bailey was just in our face, goes to
the Jazz, calling it a surprise draft as they got
him with the fifth overall pick because it was reported
that they were on his don't even draft your boy.
I don't want to play their list them. You know
it's funny too. You know it's one of the league
leaders that assist LaMelo Ball. Yeah, you know, one of
(23:06):
the more fun players to play with, who would jump
in the air, put them between his legs and throw
you with dine LaMelo ball. You would think that would
be somebody you want to play with. Up and down,
let's go A's Bailey allegedly it's like, no, I don't
want to play with LaMelo Ball. This whod The Hornets
are one of the places he didn't want to go,
and as well with the Jazz, and now they draft him.
(23:26):
A couple things though, I want to get I want
to get off my chest here. So there's the whole
way this has gone for him, where he didn't work
out for teams, didn't respond to teams, agents, acting kind
of strange talking about in order to do interviews, you
gotta pay me to do interviews. Just stuff we haven't
seen before, you don't often seen in the NBA, NFL
we get it every now and the game with a
big time quarterback recruit, Kayleb Williams has some things he
(23:47):
didn't want to go to a certain plea live Manning Chadure
wasn't so much shadoor as much as die.
Speaker 3 (23:51):
That's my book, that's my baby. My baby ain't gonna listen, baby.
We know where he gonna play. He ain't gonna play
everywhere there is, you know.
Speaker 5 (23:59):
So you know it happens from time to time in
the NFL, the NBA, we know, no tipically get that
because it's one of those leagues where if subconsciously, if
you're like, if I'm that guy, I can change a
team because there's only five guys on the quarter at
a time. NFL, man, it's eleven on one side of
the ball, eleven on the other side.
Speaker 4 (24:14):
Baseball is nine. I can't hit and pitch and catching.
You can't do everything basketball. You can be the ones
facilitating shooting, scoring, rebound.
Speaker 3 (24:21):
You can do it all.
Speaker 4 (24:21):
So it's a little different, And I thought about it
like this. I've said this a million times, and you,
as somebody who was in the league drafted, it must suck,
especially in the NBA where any NFLF your quarterback where
you're probably gonna go to a bad team. And if
you're the quarterback, now I gotta go to the Panthers,
Bryce Young, Yes, nothing here is baron. They don't know
(24:44):
what they're doing. They're trying to tank, but then they
don't even know how a direction with the tanking, and
they don't know what the new coach, new offensive coordinators,
all of that, and now my career is judged on
this organization which has proven to be bad or lost
at best. And I can understand why you would want
to say, I don't want to go play for the Hornets.
Speaker 5 (25:04):
I don't want to go play for the Wizards. I
don't want to go play for the Panthers. I don't
want to go play for the Jags.
Speaker 4 (25:07):
I actually get that. I don't want to go play
for the Lions for twenty years, right m h. But
at a certain point, you've controlled your entire career if
you're raised Bailey and a lot of these players in
the NBA. What middle school you're gonna go? What AAU
team you're gonna go to?
Speaker 3 (25:23):
What?
Speaker 5 (25:24):
Now?
Speaker 3 (25:24):
What college?
Speaker 4 (25:25):
And obviously you had control over before, but now, especially
with legal money, who's paying your boy to most is
you can flat out just say that he used to.
Speaker 5 (25:33):
Be under ll Okay, who's gonna do it? Okay, my
mom needs this, my dad needs a deconde Now what
you offering?
Speaker 3 (25:37):
Hunted? Okay? What about you? One hundred and fifty? All right?
Speaker 4 (25:40):
You two seventy five in a car for moms salt right,
and you go to Rutgers?
Speaker 3 (25:44):
Right? Yeah? My thing is now you can control college.
Speaker 4 (25:48):
So you've been controlling everything since you were twelve years old,
and now, to me, this is one of the times
where maybe just maybe releasing the wheel a little bit
can allow for destiny and allow for a great opportunities
that you didn't foresee happening right where you can go
to it. I don't want to go play with the
jazz blah blah blah. Well, Danny h has a great
proven track record. Yeah, and maybe he knows what he's
(26:11):
doing up there, and maybe he's been taking for a reason,
right to get these picks to put him here everybody's
calling and one kessor, No, I'm gonna keep him right now,
everybody's calling him with marketing, not because if I can
get them, and I got some guards. He's got a
couple of guards out of this draft, got Clayton, got
Clayton Junior, who I really was high on.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
I love. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (26:26):
And my point is sometimes you kind of gotta let
it go and just let things happen and go where's
gonna go? Because so many things in the NBA have
happened where if it was orchestrated in another way, we
wouldn't have had that.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
Mm hm.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
If Steph Curry doesn't go to the Warriors and they
have mante ellis right, I remember it was who I'm
not playing him over Monte. Well, they finally let Monte
go and they get this other guard who was quiet.
We didn't really know much about Steph Curry, and they
have a Mark Jackson who believes in him and has
them shooting shots that normally you wouldn't shoot the NBA,
and he's okay with I believe he's gonna be the
best two guards ever, you know, as far as a comic.
Speaker 5 (27:00):
Oh yeah, and we're like what yeah? And it worked out.
And my point is, you can't control everything. Sometimes you
go because you can put yourself in a bad situation
trying to dictate everything. And so to me, you got renowned. Man,
we did everything. The goal was to get you to
the league. Thank God, you're here with a wonderful opportunity.
Let's just see what happens, because I know you're gonna
work hard. I know you're talented. Let's just see what
(27:21):
happens to me. You can't control everything because trying to
hold two tie, you let things slip away. And that
was the word I was going to and you just
said it for me. But it's the control part of it, right,
You control what you can control. You go into the
league and go into any situation that you think you want.
You're not there yet. You haven't experienced those locker rooms.
You don't you haven't experienced those cities, and you don't
(27:43):
even know the guys that you're gonna be teaming up with.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
And so, yes, I get it.
Speaker 5 (27:48):
He's not He wasn't gonna be the first wasn't going
to be the second pick, right, So at that point
in his mind I can see him wanting to control
and go where he wanted to go at that point
because the money wasn't gonna be that much difference, right,
So that part makes sense, But you don't want to
go into a new situation alien Natan anybody. And so
you're telling these other teams and these other players around
(28:11):
the league that we're not good enough for you to
play with us. And so now you walk into a
situation that can be even more hostile than you think
it is. Right right, every other team, every other GM,
every every every other owner in the league, now when
they see you come in the building, they're coming after you,
like they take it personal format. I'm taking that personal too.
(28:33):
You got a guy that doesn't want to come play
with you, guys, Okay, cool, got it? Bet when we
see you then we'll show you. So you have that
happen as well. But for ace Man, he see he
actually seems like a good kid. When I see him,
he looks very you know, very welcoming and very warm.
And him and his teammate Dylan Harper, they were, you know,
they look like brothers. They're all hugging up, and he's
excited for Dylan to go where he goes a little
(28:55):
bit more out of that team by the way right.
You don't have to say I get it, but I'm
saying I get a sweet sixteen, I mean the only
one eight conference games, so anyway, but no, I mean
he seems like that guy. So you don't want to
send off the to the media, to the world that
you're someone that's selfish or only care about what matters
for you. And I think that's the part that I'm
worried about for him. The other parts of it, I
(29:15):
get it. I understand it. If you're not the first
and second round pick, I mean the first or second
pick in the first round, you're like, I wish I
could go where I want to go.
Speaker 3 (29:24):
It doesn't happen that way.
Speaker 5 (29:25):
And when you get to that league and you get
to around these guys that, no, you don't control any
of this.
Speaker 3 (29:32):
We just saw Luca don Luca.
Speaker 5 (29:35):
Nobody on earth saw that, right, Like, so you can
go to that place you want to go to, it
doesn't mean you're going to be there anyway.
Speaker 3 (29:41):
Here's why I was looking up something right here, what
you got.
Speaker 4 (29:44):
So the other thing is too, he wants to go
where he can kind of get right in and get
buckets right just immediately. LaMelo will probably hold that off
a little because he's the star. He's the guy there,
So that's what I want to You know, how many
guys go to places and put up a bunch of
buckets on horrendous teams. So he one of his teams
he considered, correct me if I'm wrong, Rob Gi the
Wizards right somewhere he wanted to go stay in the
(30:06):
Washington area and all that. Jordan Poole was getting buckets.
No one knew or cared. You know who else was
getting buckets for years? Bradley Beal. Guess what no one knew,
no one cared. You know who else was getting the
best points of his career. Kyle Kuzma. Guess what no
one knew, no one cared. You could be Kevin Martin.
I called Kevin Martin. If you look up in the
(30:26):
definition of pointless points, it was Kevin Martin. Kevin Marvin
for like eight years will be top six to seven
in the league in scoring. And some of y'all listen
right now, go Kevin who was a terrible shot, that
weird shot, but he was a bucket get and he
was always on bad teams.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
No one cared.
Speaker 4 (30:42):
So yeah, okay, fine, you want to go somewhere and
just be able to get right in and attribute and
and and score. You might be putting a lot of
pointless points in these places that no one cares about.
Speaker 5 (30:53):
Well, he just did that in college, right, Yeah, it's
kind of it's kind of part of the course, right.
Speaker 4 (31:00):
I'm college at least. Yeah, Danny Ainge as a track worker.
That team looks bad right now, but I I and
I think many people feel it.
Speaker 3 (31:06):
They're bad for a reason.
Speaker 4 (31:07):
Yes, right, I got something coming it, wizard just bad
to be bad, to be bad to bad.
Speaker 5 (31:12):
Yeah, they're bad. They don't even know what they're doing.
There's no plan. You can't see it. We're like, oh,
I get what they're trying to do right now. Okay, okay, okay,
I don't know what they're doing. No, they don't either,
But no this U Tah Actually, but you just said,
I mean U Tah got pieces too. I know there's
gonna be some movement, but you college Collin sexons on
that team who can play and can score, Laurie Markinen,
(31:33):
and they're.
Speaker 3 (31:33):
Doing it for a reason. And you mentioned they got assets.
Speaker 4 (31:35):
So that even if either we can try to y'all
all together or people who have been people, robjer you're
a Laker fan, y'all want a Kessler all half of
the last season. He can play, right, and people, we
just need a big who can play. You can And
so my point is you have that in your back pocket.
If you're Danny Ainge, Okay, who can I get it?
Can be a nice veteran. Okay, boom, everybody's calling for marketing. Yes,
he's just wasting away. He's so good up there. Okay, cool,
(31:56):
I got that in my back pocket. I mean, like
they're they're doing something.
Speaker 5 (31:59):
So my whole point is just at a certain point
you got to get in there and it is what
it is.
Speaker 4 (32:03):
You gotta roll with the punches. Is you can't do
everything in your life. Can't be controlled. That's not humanly,
that's not human nature. That's not how this typically works.
Right all right, on the way, we have the play
of the day. We'll get to that as well. And
I just mentioned the people who I don't know what
they're doing. Well, some team had a field day in
the draft and I still don't know what they're doing.
Speaker 3 (32:23):
Tell you who that is. It's the odd couple. Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (32:25):

Speaker 4 (32:44):
Don't wait till Rob is gone to play something in
the two thousands.
Speaker 5 (32:49):
He needs this, He needs to be enlightened. That man
he's got at this point, well, he along with God,
he needs something current. I mean, he doesn't kids, so
I'd be shocked that he would know that. But but
you know, my point is, you sit here, you've done
TV things on Thursdays of Rob.
Speaker 3 (33:06):
If it ain't.
Speaker 5 (33:07):
Nineteen eighty eight and below, man, and by eighty eight,
he's struggling. At that point, I thought to saying, eighty
you're talking about golden Girls. That's all you want to hear.
Speaker 4 (33:14):
Yeah, I'm like, dude, what in the world? And I
gotta see. I keep trying to get him something ninety five?
Can we get a living? Can we get a living?
Speaker 3 (33:24):
Single?
Speaker 5 (33:25):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (33:26):
I do you know? I never have request dj al Alex,
Can I get one living?
Speaker 1 (33:30):
Just for you?
Speaker 4 (33:30):
The Wayans Brothers, the one where they used eclectic relaxation
from a try called quest Dune.
Speaker 3 (33:39):
Oh yeah, yeah, they're talk about y Yeah.
Speaker 4 (33:41):
Yeah, that's all. That's the only request I have. You
have request TV things on Thursday? You know one?
Speaker 3 (33:47):
Yeah about it. You ain't get no rest. We got time,
I got, I got one off the top.
Speaker 5 (33:50):
I mean, if I figured out what he's gonna do, Rob,
it's ninety, so it's gonna be a song he wrote
no nineties be rocking with you too, so he gonna
be like Alex play cut six, Alex play cut six
in the photo.
Speaker 3 (34:05):
Right, Alex wink wink, wink wink. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (34:08):
This is from a but I don't know if it's TV,
but it's a movie I.
Speaker 3 (34:11):
Was in and not me. No, no Kilvin nah no, yeah,
go ahead. It is TV things on Thursday. Couple.
Speaker 4 (34:18):
As you hear, Carrie Rose is in for our guy
Rob Parker on this TV thing So on Thursday. By
the way, getting ready to get to this tire rack.
Play of the day, let's do it with the eighth.
Speaker 6 (34:28):
Pick in the twenty twenty five NBA Draft, the Brooklyn
Nets select Jaegar Demon from Moscow and Brickham Young University.
Speaker 3 (34:38):
Play of the day. Right there. Adam Silver on the
call as the.
Speaker 5 (34:41):
Nets drafted five players in the first round and four guards.
Speaker 3 (34:47):
Man, I remember when you remember.
Speaker 4 (34:50):
This, when my Lions with like four or five years
in a row, draft and receivers at the like number two,
number three, four picking everybody's making for ERA five picks
in the first round.
Speaker 3 (34:59):
Is that's crazy? That's nuts.
Speaker 4 (35:01):
You would think I'm pairing up two of them and
getting somebody. You know, Hey, I'm calling, uh, you know,
I don't know who? Hey, can we get that guy
I'm calling? I mean, I'm I'm maybe I'm calling. Okay, see,
I don't got too much over there. I'll give you
this pick, this pick. Can I get Caseon Wallace?
Speaker 3 (35:16):
You know?
Speaker 2 (35:16):
Hey?
Speaker 3 (35:16):
Can I here's one pick? Can I get Caruso? Hey? Something?
Speaker 4 (35:20):
They picked five people, they four guards. And the best
part about this too, to make it so Brooklyn Nets,
of the Brooklyn Nets, is.
Speaker 5 (35:29):
That all of them are kind of like, okay projects,
you got the Noah kid from France, just they're like,
there's upside and they could be and mike Bees. But
to me, when you have too many mic Bees and
possibilities nothing, you got nothing, and you can't keep affording
to have nothing. And aside from the opening a few
(35:51):
months Carrie and Rob and Alex, And.
Speaker 4 (35:56):
By that I mean when jay Z was there because
he was a minority owner and he was just perform
RM it in for free and just try to hype
the team up.
Speaker 3 (36:02):
Yeah, that's been a highlight.
Speaker 5 (36:04):
Yeah, it's been the highlight of the Nets has been
having shit Boy, having jay Z just perform and be
around the team for a year or two.
Speaker 4 (36:13):
Am I missing something? The Nets just can't get it right.
The best Nets was the New Jersey Nets with Jason.
Speaker 5 (36:19):
Kidd oh by far, not even doctor j and aby A. Yeah, no,
this team is in a bad way. Obviously, they didn't
think they would be here this early.
Speaker 3 (36:31):
They had the.
Speaker 5 (36:31):
Whole hardened Irving Durant era that was supposed to be
there for a little bit longer thirty for thirty gonna
be crazy. It's gonna be crazy with ex Covid ruined
it all exactly.
Speaker 3 (36:43):
No, that's the thing.
Speaker 5 (36:44):
So now when you miss on opportunities like that and
you have to rebuild again like immediately, you're gonna be
in this way. I mean, obviously you need to have
some type of direction, which they seem to not have.
But it's gonna take them Awais and so bringing in
guys that they think can fit that.
Speaker 3 (37:03):
Fall asleep waiting on them to get it right, right.
Speaker 5 (37:05):
I know, like they got to do something and they're
trying to collect assets, I guess, and they got all
these picks and.
Speaker 3 (37:13):
Kelvin, I don't know. I do not know what they're doing.
What you know? And you know what I'm trying to be.
I'm trying to be. What's the reason here?
Speaker 4 (37:21):
I don't know if you know this New York team's
got to get it together. Well one, I'm including your team.
Speaker 3 (37:29):
You got to go. Now you're gonna throw shots at me?
What it went from the Nets. I didn't mean it.
Speaker 4 (37:33):
But you you gotta catch this stray because the Jets
don't be jet and.
Speaker 3 (37:37):
They don't be taking off that they on the tarbaile yea.
Speaker 4 (37:41):
You know, the Knicks haven't won since Rob was loving
TV songs from the you know the theme songs from
back then.
Speaker 5 (37:47):
Man, I don't even know, oh Rob, Rob Parker wasn't
even born yet, but yeah, and you know the uh again,
we talked about the Nets having the like so for
this to be the number one market in America, America's
biggest city and you know, New York, New York, Baby,
New York better come home.
Speaker 3 (38:03):
The Yankees saving New York. Boy, the the Yankees.
Speaker 4 (38:06):
Got New York on their back. They do for everybody.
Get on the whole entire city. No, we're not even
gonna segregate barrow burrows at this point. Just the entire
New York City. Get on our back because none of the
rest of y'all doing much else. Yeah, the one talks
about that, like, what what New York to be?
Speaker 3 (38:23):
It's New York baby, Mecca, baby, the Mecca. We do
big things out here, y'all.
Speaker 5 (38:27):
Thank God for Broadway, Thank God for stranger things on Broadway.
Speaker 3 (38:33):
Just take them.
Speaker 4 (38:34):
Thank God y'all got some shows on Broadway and that
in some good restaurants.
Speaker 5 (38:38):
Man, listen, stay off New York. Get get off our
heads cause you know, you know we fight. We fight. Yeah,
we don't play that.
Speaker 3 (38:45):
But no, it's New York. Get it together.
Speaker 5 (38:50):
Man.
Speaker 3 (38:51):
My goodness.
Speaker 4 (38:51):
The Knicks is, you know, it's the next The NBA
always wants it to be good, and but they finally are.
Speaker 3 (38:55):
Hopefully they can keep it going. It is.
Speaker 4 (38:57):
I'm hoping so I he called this man a creep earlier.
We gotta talk about him. It's Fox Sports Radio.
