(00:22):
You're listening to the Best of the Odd Couple with
Chris Brush and Ron Harker. Obviously, everybody's aware of the games.
You got Indianapolis at Kansas City and Dallas at Los
Angeles Rams tomorrow. Then on Sunday you got the LA
Chargers at New England and the Philadelphia Eagles at New Orleans.

(00:44):
Every one of those games is incredibly exciting. And you
can generally say that when you're talking about the playoffs,
but I really, I mean, beyond just what they're playing
for and the fact that this is postseason football, I mean,
they're a story lines galore in every single game, every
single game, and I think that you know that that's

(01:06):
what makes games. I mean, beyond the competition, the storylines
also drive them and make them more interesting, no doubt
about it. And when you get down to you know,
the number of teams were at all of everybody has
a story. That's how you got here. You know, there's
there's some story on how you got here, what happened,
what didn't happen? Are you trending up? Are you trending down?

(01:28):
And uh so there's the storylines are full. But I
will say this, go ahead, go ahead, go ahead. I
was just gonna say, but all of all the games,
and you know we'll be watching one game together, uh
this weekend, and it will be that Dallas Cowboys LA
Rams game. Well that's yeah, that's a huge one. And

(01:52):
obviously the storylines and Nat dak Press, Scott uh and
Sean McVay, Jared Gofftid Gurley, you can go on and on,
But what I wanted to ask you in this game
certainly is right up there, what team or player, coach,
whoever has the most to lose this weekend? Obviously, everybody's

(02:14):
gonna be disappointed if they fall out, and you know
they're trying to win the Super Bowl. But from an
image standpoint, from a public viewpoint, which team do you
think or player or coach has the most to lose?
I think it's the Rams and McVeigh more than anybody.
And I just think from the standpoint that people have

(02:36):
anointed this guy who hasn't won a playoff game, who
actually last year when they were eleven and five and
you know, the up and comers, and everybody was so
excited about the Rams, and then they laid a stinker
in their playoff game at home. And now we've got
since then, now we got three coaches who were hired

(02:57):
just off of his name and trying to get the
next McVeigh. Right, I mean, think about that, three coaches.
He hasn't won a playoff game. He could be for
all we know. And I'm not saying this will be
the case, and I'm not even saying this as an
insult to the coach I'm about to mention, but he
could be another like an Andy Reid. Right, Ray has

(03:19):
these great regular seasons but doesn't get it done in
the playoffs. And Andy Reid is obviously a top notch coach,
But the point is the goal is to win a
Super Bowl, and he has it won not only not
a Super Bowl, but the playoff game. And yet he
already has a coaching treat. And and think about this,
the Cowboys are not the same team on the road

(03:40):
as they are at home. Right, we know that if
they would have come in here and win this game,
there's seven point underdogs, it would be a huge upset.
I don't care anybody says, your normal home team gets
three points by Vegas. If you're you're the home team,
you get three points. They're getting seven. Seven points in

(04:01):
a playoff game is a ton of points because most
games are closed. Chris, you know that most of them
are closed. Yeah? Yeah, And I and you know what,
I'm with you. I think there's another guy that has
a lot to lose. I'll get to him a little later,
but I am with you. The guy that has the
most to lose is Sean McVeigh. He is the golden Boy.

(04:22):
He had a great season last year. I mean, he's
a young kid, younger than some of the players, right.
And you had older players who were retired legends saying
it would be hard for them to play for a
guy that young. People were very questionable skeptical about his hiring.
And he does a fantastic job. But they lost in

(04:45):
the playoffs at home to Atlanta. And you remember the
offense wasn't good they right, it was like a stinky
offensive game for them, and it left a bad taste
in a lot of people's mouths. And they have the
Rams have something to prove. I don't care if then
there's no doubt that some of the shine is going
to come off of Sean McVay. And let's be honest, Rob,

(05:07):
they haven't looked great at the end of the season. No,
they're trending downward. They were they were thirteen more than
thirteen and three, and they were two and two in
a month of December. The Chigo which has been playing
who had been playing great football, beat him, and then
Philadelphia with Nick Foles beat them in LA and so, yeah,

(05:33):
this is going to be huge. I'm with you that
mcvay's got to deliver, and if he doesn't, not only
will people question him, but you wonder will people look
at some of these recent hirings, Matt Lafleur, the guys
that were tied to him, Zach Taylor, Cliff Kingsbury. Will
they look at those guys and wonder if they, you know,
if going all in on the offense, and we could

(05:55):
even throw in what if Kansas City loses too, you know,
then people may go all this offensive talk that we
heard during the regular season the fifty four fifty one
game between the Rams and Chiefs. You know, maybe that's
not the way to go because so far, Rob, what's
one in these playoffs is defense. It's defense. I'm telling

(06:17):
you that this is uh. Doug Collins used to say that,
you know, it's defense. I'm telling you, you know about winning,
and I agree with them. I defense is always very important.
That's that's why. And I know, uh, you know people
who always get on me that I'm not big on
the Chiefs. I just think if you don't have defense,

(06:38):
you have a chance to give it up, you know
what I mean, And you gotta get some stops. It's
scary that the Chiefs is so good, Chris. If they
had a decent defense, they would be just right right,
because because it's not mediocre's bad. Right, That's what scares me.
What will they score points? Yeah? We saw them lose
a game scoring fifth one points in LA, right, we

(07:01):
saw him losing. Gab who scores fifty one points and loses? Well.
I and the one team that or the team that
may be the most balanced, uh in the AFC, is
the Chargers. Everybody likes them. They got it on both
sides of the ball, but they would be in more,
particularly Philip Rivers. He would be the second guy after

(07:23):
Sean mcvain. I would say Rivers has the most to
lose because, look, you and I have talked about it,
Hall of Fame regular season career without question, but he
hasn't gotten it done in the playoffs. He's five and
five in the playoffs, hasn't been since twenty thirteen, and um, yeah,

(07:44):
you know besides last year he had that five years
stretch and then last year they get in and they
they didn't get in the charge. You're right, that's right.
Remember the last time of the year that they needed
help and hasn't been in since twenty thirteen. He's got
He hasn't been great either. He hasn't been as good
in the playoffs as he has been in the regular season.

(08:07):
Eleven touchdowns, nine interceptions. So if he doesn't get it done, well,
I know it's in Foxborough. I'm actually picking the Patriots
and they are favorite, the Pats, but a lot of
people think the Chargers are the team to beat in
the AFC. So if he doesn't get it done at
thirty seven, how many more chances he gonna get I
think people will look at that as well, and you

(08:30):
know he'll he'll take a hit for that losing too.
I totally agree from this damnpoint a. Time is running out.
But b there are no excuses. They're about the most
well rounded team, Chris, the Chargers. They have it all
running back, they play defense, they got a kicker, right,
they have everything. Yeah, and there ain't no on the

(08:52):
road when they have to get on the plane. The
only road game they lost was in Los Angeles when
they lost the game to the Rams. So that's how
good they've been. Can you imagine going on the in
the NFL on the road and winning every game except
the one in LA. Right, That's incredible. That tells you
what that team. We saw them go to Pittsburgh down

(09:12):
double digits and come back and win. We saw them
go to Kansas City down double digits, come back and win.
There's no reason on paper they're better than the Patriots,
no question. Time has come for Philip Rivers to anny up.
I don't care what anybody says. He must anny up.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple

(09:33):
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm.
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeart Radio APPH my god, I know for the odd
couple celebrity corners. This week's celebrity you know we do

(09:55):
it every Friday is a celebrity entrepreneur. He's an investor
in Facebook, Snapchat, vin Mo, and Uber. You talk about
a Big four rob. I got some ideas for him,
real talk. All right, it's Gary Vaynerchuk. He's also a
five time best selling author. There's nothing really this guy
that's doing. A huge sports fan. We're gonna get to

(10:17):
that too, Gary. Welcome to the Odd Cup. What's up,
my guys. Thank you so much for having me. Hey,
we're excited to talk with you. And everybody calls you
Gary V. You can follow him on Twitter at Gary
v V. Gary. As I mentioned, you're a celebrity entrepreneur.
Just an entrepreneur, uh, And why don't you give us

(10:38):
briefly and you've had a really interesting story. Tell us briefly.
From growing up, I believe in Queens. We're going Queens
to this this great entrepreneur. So I was in Rego Parking, Queens,
and then I was born in Russia in the former
Sober unions, then came to Queens, then really grew up
in Edison, New Jersey, where I was slinging lemonade washing

(11:00):
cards like long before entrepreneurship was cool like it is
now on social media. Like when it was all about
school and getting jobs, I went completely the other way.
And I'm forty three. So I grew up during the
huge explosion of baseball cards and sports cards. And when
I was twelve thirteen, I was making three four thousand
dollars a weekend selling sports cards, and so entrepreneur from

(11:22):
the get got involved in my dad's liquor store when
I was a kid, and launched one of the first
e commerce wine businesses in America back in nineteen ninety six,
and then blew up on YouTube and Twitter, invested, started
a media company with my brother, started a sports agency
with my brother. I'm on my way to buy you
the New York Jets. Guys, I'm gonna win seven Super

(11:42):
Bowls and call it a day. Well, I don't know
if if they keep hiring the coaches that they hire,
I don't know if they're gonna be winning anything. What
do you think about the Jets? And put this on
the record, I'm glad, I'm on sports radio, not just
some other business tuk. This Gay's hire is going to
be much more peaked roll in Seattle and Bill Belichick

(12:02):
in New England. This is gonna be the higher I
am on the record, and you are not talking to
an optimistic Jets fan. If you go on YouTube in
search mark Sanchez draft, you'll see me booing. I'm not
colored glasses, I'm educated ahead, Gary Dope, help me out.
Based off of what you saw in Miami, I'm sorry,

(12:24):
based off of what what did you see? Based off
of the fact that if you look at what he's
done in three years in Miami, First of all, Tenehill
is hurt an enormous amount of time. Plus I just
don't think Ryan's that good of a quarterback, whether it's
Brock or Cutler, whether he's on his third center this
year or when he loses his right guard. Like, if

(12:44):
you really carefully look at what the Dolphins did over
the last three years with their injury situations, you guys
know this. Most fans are surface level. They look at
the final record and that's the punchline. They don't look
at the actual injury. They don't look at the schedule.
They don't look at the variables on the fact that
he had trash at quarterback, which is the reality of

(13:05):
this league. So about him having trash, how do you
know that if he had a good quarterback it will
work out. I don't. That's what I don't understand because
people just automatically assume my man, my man, John Kitten's
best season. Gays like brock Oswaller this year, like I
watched that, Like like I watch football, I watch every
Jets game. They're in my division. Steve Ross is my

(13:26):
business partner. I hate the Dolphins, which is why I'm
glad Gays has gone from there and it didn't work out.
And when he combines with Darnold and the rest of
cat money and the picks, Like, man, I'm telling you,
this is gonna go down off of what off of
the fact that Tittna and off of the fact that
brock Oswaller and off in the back of Jay Cutler,
like this guy's got data, this guy's got data. I

(13:47):
don't know, Like that's it. Time will tell. I have
heard some people in the NFL say a similar thing
to what you're saying, Gary V. So we'll see, we'll
see how it plays out. You are a big not
quick I he's not a question, but I just want
to go there because I got love for you. You
know that's because your depth of knowledge and NBA when
there were transactions, trades, coaching hires, that you were sitting

(14:11):
with more and better data than other people, which meant
that you had a different hot take than others. Correct
or not. No, you're right, You're right, You're right. But
I mean, like I said, well, I think Gays. I mean,
obviously he didn't do well in Miami, but like you said,
there are reasons for that. He has has success with
quarterbacks in the past. We'll see. I mean, I hope

(14:34):
it works out for you. Yeah, I think Darnold is
the real deal, or has the potential to be the
real deal. So we'll see if Gays can can work
it out with you. But let's get to basketball, because
you brought it up. You're a huge Knicks fan, which
is tough, and you're so and you're forty three, you
said it, so you're you know, you're the era where
sneakers are huge, but you're such a Knicks fan that

(14:58):
you have never ever won a pair of Air Jordan's
That is correct. I hate Michael Jordans more than any
human being on earth, including Tom Brady. Wow, you were little,
you were you were a young guy destroying the No. No, no,

(15:19):
I wasn't. I was in high school those prime, prime,
prime years. You know, like when Xavier mcgannald got traded
over and I thought, now we had all the pieces.
Those are sophomore, junior, senior year of high school. Those
are the years that really matter. That's like when it's
your life, there is no other variable. So yeah, man,
I mean, I'll give you credit because because Rob doesn't

(15:41):
like Lebron, but he wears Lebron sneaks. I don't dislike Lebron.
I just don't think he's the greatest. I have on
a pair of Jordan's right now. And Gary ved this
is my only problem with this. As a guy. Both
Chris and I both covered the Knicks. He covered for
the New York Times, I covered for the Daily News.
We both were there, We covered I covered Michael Jordan.

(16:02):
I was in Cleveland when he made that great shot
over craigey Lowe. All of it, and and I remember
the New York fans. They wanted Michael Jordan to score
fifty points. What they wanted the Knicks to win the game,
and that was the way to make fans. I'm just saying, nah,
that is exactly I never saw people people I wanted

(16:22):
Michael Jordan's leg to fall off and let the walk again.
That's a real fans, Michael Jordan's you you're talking about
fake fans, and you're talking about Bulls fans that were
there like the reality and you're talking about insecure people
that live in New York and New Jersey who rooted
for the Bulls because they were winning. Because in real
life that human wasn't a winner, so they needed the

(16:43):
winning team to make them feel better. I get that.
A lot of people do that. Put by the way,
if you're born in New York and you root for
the Warriors, you're a loser. It's the eye cover. We
are joined by celebrity entrepreneur Gary V. We're having a
lot of fun with him. All right, let me ask
you this, Gary, do you hate Jordan so much that

(17:05):
you don't think he's the goat? That's a great question. No,
let me go this and this will tell you whether
you're basketball aficionado or not. I'll tell you this and
I think you guys will appreciate this. I'm gonna answer
the truth. I think the goat debates real tricky because
my intuition tells me that I would think Wilt Chamberlain

(17:27):
was the goat or Bill like eras matter right, eras matter.
So look, he's a certain type of player. Him and
Kobe share cloth. It depends on what you like. The
answer is, I'm really, deep down think Lebron's better. How
can Yeah, he doesn't have the six championships, he doesn't

(17:48):
even make any sense. He a Gary v He's I
call him the fote f f oat finals failure of
all time. He's lost more finals than any other previous MVP. Guy,
If my guy, if you know basketball, and I know
you do, and you think about who Michael Jordan's got
to play in his finals versus who Lebron's gotten to play,

(18:10):
that's an important Listen. Let's think all emotion and radio
talk out of the equation, like, please give please give
Lebron the Utah Jazz and the Sonics. Please give Lebron
Sewan Camp and Gary Payne. Please. Well, we look, we
both murder murders. Like people talk. People talk about Scottie

(18:30):
or Dad or who are you playing? Matters? Both Rob
and I both Rob and I think Lebron's number two,
So we give him luck. Listen, I get it, and
I get it, and listen, listen, you might be right.
Here's the thing. It's not over, yeah, but he got
to do it. Here. You mentioned who Jordan beat in

(18:52):
the finals, and I give you that. The arguments for
Lebron is the goat. The arguments for Lebron are he
he had to go through super teams, which he lost
to a lot of super teams. Yeah, and his longevity. However,
even when he had the super team in Miami, they
only won two out of four. They lost to an
old storial team, and then that Dallas team only had

(19:15):
Dirk j Kid was old. Listen, I respect that, and
I think that's the logical unemotional variable answers to the questions.
I agree. I agree. Here's the thing. It's not over,
but Lebron picks up. If Lebron picks up two more
before it's all set and done, things get real interesting,

(19:35):
real fast. In his conversation. Now, I feel you will see,
but I don't think he could pass. And listen, and
here's the thing with Lebron. At the end of the day,
it's Lebron's three sixty nature of passing and boarding and
unselfishness and some level of path Listen, America Winners, Like,
if you're talking about assassins, this is where Kobe and

(19:58):
Jordan had that thing because they had that one year
that was willing to take every single shot period to
make it happen. And Lebron doesn't have that. And so
like Lebron's getting a little bit more interesting though he's
above he's a different cat. Lebron's the greatest of all
time off the field and on the field, right, So,

(20:19):
like that human aspect of Lebron. Listen the people listening
right now, they don't have a good read of a
lot of these guys, actual human beings. The media protects
a lot of these athletes. And definitely during Jordan's era,
Lebron is so much disproportionally a better human being than
Michael Jordan. It's not even laughable. Who real quick Christ?

(20:42):
So because of that, that was actually Jordan's edge, right, So,
but Lebron's getting a little sneaky here, talking a little
more trash. I'm the greatest, Like I'm just like huh.
It's his body doesn't break brown, and he keeps building
on this ship on his shoulder, and he gets a
little more next see next year. In the following year,
it could get a little interesting. Well, we're gonna watch you.

(21:05):
We're gonna mark you on two things, and we'll get
you back on the show. Adam Gaze how he does
with the Jets and Lebron does he lead these Lakers
to a championship? We got thirty seconds left, Gary V.
What do you think of You mentioned Lebron off the
court as a real entrepreneur who knows this stuff. What
do you think about all that he does off the court?
I think that he picked a real great best friend

(21:27):
named Maverick Carter, and those two have evolved in an
extremely impressive way. Yea, all r right, that says it all,
Gary V. Man, great stuff. You do know your sports.
I don't even know when the Jets. When the Jets
win thirty five percent of their games over the next

(21:49):
three years, we're gonna get you back on the show.
Let me let me back on to tell you why
Scottie Pippins the most overrated athlete of all time. All right,
we'll do that. All right, all right, Gary, we appreciate it.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern,
four pm Pacific. It's two time NBA Champion, eleven time

(22:13):
NBA All Star Chris Bosh Chris, welcome in. You've been
laying low a bit since you've had to step away
from basketball. What have you been up to? Really taking
care of my kids? That's uh, that's that's the number
one priority, being a father and a husband. Um. My

(22:33):
son is in first grade now, so you know that
takes a lot of attention for you know, getting him
together and making sure he's ready for school. Um, and
really just you know, thinking about really what the future
holds for me, if basketball is in there or not.
And I'm really just trying to you know, no bill

(22:55):
for the future. Man. That's that's kind of really where
I'm at. Um. It's been interesting, interesting thing just being
around the family and being around my kids and and
really growing, um as a person and as a man
into into other things. You know, speaking about basketball and
your health, how is your health? And it's basketball really
an option or is just something that you have held

(23:17):
on too until you know, you get to a point
where you you don't think you can play anymore. Well,
I mean it's it's kind of just been uh more
of a search. Yeah, I wouldn't just I don't feel
like I'd be wasting my time just trying to do
things and and it's just an end result that I
can't you know, really control. So yeah, I do think, uh,

(23:38):
you know, basketball is somewhere in there, and if it's not,
you know, it is what it is. I know I'm
getting pretty close to uh you know, having m to
really get serious to make you know, a very good
decision about it. And it's you know, those things take time.
But you know, I'm feel confident about things and where
things are going and where I'm at, you know, as
a person. And my health is good. You know, I've

(24:00):
appreciate people always asking me is my health good? But
you know, people have to remember I was upright the
last time I played a basketball game. It's funny people
ask me, how's your health? Like yo, last time he
saw me. You know, I got twenty points right right.
You know, I wasn't hunched over in the hospital or
anything like that. So you know, the health is good,

(24:21):
and you know, I'm blessed man, Chris. A big topic
nowadays is what it's like to play with Lebron James.
You know, with the Lakers, people say Brandon Ingram's game
is suffering because he's a guy that needs the ball
in his hands, and obviously you can't do that with
Lebron on your team. You even told Kevin Love when
Lebron went back to Cleveland that, hey, your game's gonna change.

(24:44):
Give us a real assessment. I mean, we saw your game,
you know, change, especially in the last couple of years
when you guys were together. You kind of ended up
being that that spot up shooter at the three point
liner on the perimeter, and your numbers obviously went down
from what they were in Toronto. What was it like
and what type of sacrifices did you have to make

(25:06):
to play with Lebron? Well, I mean, you're gonna have
to play off the ball. You know, He's he's a
player that's gonna you know, he's a natural point guard,
so he's gonna orchestrate the offense at certain times and
get guys involved, and he's gonna want to kind of
orchestrate the offense and make plays. I want people to

(25:26):
understand that basketball's basketball. I know, it's like it's kind
of unfair to say, well, you know, with Lebron you're
gonna play. Let me tell you, if you go down
to San Antonio, your game is gonna change. You know.
If you go to Miami and that system, your game
is gonna change. If you play with James Harden, your
game is gonna change. You know, if you play with
any great player or great coach or great you know,

(25:47):
team organization, you're gonna have to change it up a
little bit, you know. And and as basketball players you
have to evolve and get better, you know, and work
on other facets. You know. Saying a guy eats the ball,
we you know, we all need the ball, of course,
but you know, he's a ball dominant player, and that's

(26:07):
what point guards do. And he's a natural, you know,
it's just a natural point guard. He's been looking at
offense in his whole life. So really it's just about
falling in place and understanding, you know, points of attack
and how to be effective on the coordinats. You know,
just because you're playing with him, that doesn't mean it's
not gonna change throughout your career. You know what I mean, right, Christie?

(26:28):
The You know, obviously going down to Miami, forming a
super team, the big press conference and fireworks, and not one,
not two, not three, all the way to seven or
eight championships as it was presented to people, and then
you guys win two out of four and then Lebron

(26:48):
kind of bolts. What was it fulfilling? Obviously winning your
championship is always great, and you won two in those
four years, and you went to the NBA finals all
those years. But but was it a little disappoint morning
and not what you expected? Because some people think it
it wound up not being the special thing people thought
it would be. Uh, you know defined special special would

(27:12):
have been like if you want, you guys won three
in a row, that would have been something that not
a lot of people or teams have done. But you
won two out of four. Uh. You had three great players,
all out of the same draft, all from the Eastern Conference. Uh,
you dominated, but you didn't win the championship. People thought
that you were guys were gonna be unbeatable, and you

(27:33):
got beat twice. Oh, I mean, there's no such thing
as unbeatable. The sport as the sport. Um you know,
we're all historians of the game. So how many three
peters do you have? You got the Bulls twice, you
got the Lakers, Yeah, you got Kobe and Shocking. Now
the um uh, the Warrior of War right now? You

(27:55):
got people what teams that went to four finals in
a row. You got us, the Warriors, the Cast and Celfish.
You know. So in the grand scheme of things, over
every you know, every team that's ever played and every
person that's ever played in professional sports, I think that's
pretty that's pretty strong, you know. And to play, you know,

(28:15):
against one of the greatest teams to ever played this
game and the greatest players to ever played this game.
So yeah, we had stiff competition. You know, we roast
to it. We were only together four years, you know,
and it is what it is. But you know, I
don't know what people expect. Maybe people should stop expecting,
you know, the great things are not easy to accomplish,

(28:36):
you know, and two out of four that's that's pretty
solid to me. I mean, I don't know many teams
and if you can name you know, if you can
use two hands to name team that's done that, you know,
in own professional sports. Then, you know, I'd be impressed, Chris.
Some people have said, you know, obviously you were twenty
about the twenty three and eleven guy in Toronto. Obviously

(28:59):
in Miami your numbers went down the last couple of years,
it was sixteen and six. I've said that. I think
it still was great for you. It enhanced your career.
You won two championships even though your numbers went down.
You're a part of this historic Big three that in
many ways probably led to a change in the NBA.

(29:19):
But yeah, is that fair or do you ever look back, like,
you know, what would I have done if I just
stayed in Toronto and put up these huge numbers and
have my own team? Nah? No, no, no, I think, Um,
you know, in my in my decision making process, I asked,
you know, many many guys who have done it before me,

(29:41):
many great players, you know, what was the most important
thing for them, um, in their quest and what they
what they most remember as a player, you know, And
I kind of took all those things into consideration. The
numbers is just numbers, you know. Um, at the end
of the day, nobody's gonna say, oh man, he scored
x amount of points and did these things and if

(30:03):
they don't remember, they don't remember. You know, you want
to be a part of the big stage, and you know,
you want to have memorable moments in the league that
are you know, impressive and and have a lasting impact
and you know, an impact on kids in the community
and stuff like that, you know, and just to show
people that, you know, things are very very possible for me. Yeah, numbers,

(30:27):
you know, numbers really don't do anything. And I know
we're kind of in a status driven society with data
and everything, but you know, numbers and numbers it really
doesn't mean anything. I mean, twenty and twelve and a loss.
You know, if you get your numbers and you lose,
then you know, it kind of sucks a little bit
as a competitor. And you know, I've been a competitor

(30:49):
in this game. Um, you know since I was a
very small child, you know, so being able to actually
you know, learn about the real sport of basketball and
and put myself into the team, put myself into defense
and getting better and better, you know, those are you know,
those were the most important things to me. It's the

(31:10):
couple on Fox Sports Radio. Two time NBA champion Chris
Bosh joining us. Chris uh Lebron talked about that he
tried to recoup players to come to Cleveland. Did he
try to get you to come to play with him?
And you said no? But is that true? No? I

(31:32):
know we he never talked about coming. I mean that
was impossible because I signed my deal with UH, you know,
signed the long term deal with it heat when he
signed his deal with the with the cast and they
were already in intact, you know, unless you were talking
about before, which that wasn't either. But yeah, no, he
never asked me to come to Cleveland. Yeah, okay, I

(31:54):
had heard that. You know, before you guys went to Miami,
he was trying to get you to go play with
him in Cleveland. That's what you were like. I mean,
obviously Miami's a better option than Cleveland, and you still
had d Wade there and then all that's when all
three of you guys talked about playing in Miami. Oh
it was free a back Yeah, back then, I was
free agency. You know, I don't think uh anybody was

(32:16):
in especially him, was in a in a in a
in a in a position to really call the landscape
because there were multiple teams cash space. You know, there
were multiple big time free agents as we all you
know remember, and so it was never a conversation of
joining me here, joined me there. It was you know,
more so of like trying to forecast the future a
little bit, the thing that I'm always problem some people.

(32:38):
Some people say, you, guys, I think it was was
it oh eight, It would have been O eight when
you played on the Olympic team, that that's when this began.
But did it really begin that summer in twenty ten?
Like were you surprised when it was like, man, we
all three could really play together? Yeah, I mean it
wasn't in O eight that I know. You know, it's

(33:00):
funny somebody had to the other day like yeah, yeah,
said no, bro, that didn't happen. Um, that didn't happen
in two thousand and eight or whatever. But you know,
we did have a good time competing in the Olympics.
But yeah, it was more and so it was a
slowly evolving thing and just kind of seeing how things
was coming together and then you know, everything worked out

(33:21):
um um for us, and you know, now we're heres.
So you know, I was really happy to be a
part of that. Chris let me ask you this because
you you've talked about how tough it is to retire,
you know, just to maybe because it wasn't necessarily on
your own terms. And I looked back and when you
were playing in Toronto used to do you know, commercial

(33:42):
tube about going to the All Star Game and like
a used car salesman and all that stuff. And I
was like, man, this guy's got a lot, you know.
And I even did things with you when you were
still playing. We we co hosted Mike and Mike and
all that. I was like, this guy's got a lot
of things he wants to do outside of back basketball.
Is it different though, once you don't have basketball as

(34:05):
the number one thing to want to pursue all those
things or are those things still in your future and
things you want to do. Yeah. I mean I've always
tried to be a creative person throughout my lifetime, even
you know, growing up, and that was kind of the
other things, you know, I always had other things outside

(34:25):
of basketball, you know. Yeah, I mean I never Yeah,
I mean, I just I was always having fun. That's
what the main, you know, thing about it is, it's
always to have fun and not really worry about, you know,
what people think or how things can be perceived and
just kind of go out there and do it. I mean,
I'm a basketball player at heart. Um That'll always be

(34:48):
the case, probably should out my whole life. But you know,
eventually we have to transform and and you know, move
on to other things. And I think basketball is definitely
a huge staple because they're things that go on inside
the game dealing with day to day life. You know,
you you get tools and you can you know, acquire

(35:08):
knowledge that you know, it's very valuable. Um. So for me,
I try to always think about those things and think
about the stories and and kind of the things that's
worked for me and help me, uh you know, be
be a good player and be a great player and
help me get through you know, tough situations when it
was time to perform. I think that's like one of

(35:30):
the most important things. And you know, the the thing
as far as professional sports is concerns to you know,
answer the call when it's time. So you know, I'm
taking those things and kind of pride to myself on
everything that I've read and you know, things that I've
studied and things that have worked, you know, So it's
all about trial and error and and you know things

(35:54):
that help has helped me and hurt me as well.
You know, learning from the stakes throughout my career. So
you know, I try to embody that, I try to
take it and you know, eventually I'm going to use it,
and you know, and it'll help me out, it'll help
my family out and help me pursue other things. All right,
Chris great stuff man, two time NBA Champion, eleven time

(36:17):
NBA All Star, Chris Bosh, thanks a lot for joining
the Eye Couple. Man, appreciate it. Thank you, all right, man,
thank you
