(01:51):
Brooks and I'm really we're obviously gonna get into this
long before we talked with Bucky in the third hour,
but with Kyler Murray deciding to choose football over baseball,
Bucky will be a great guy to talk to. Yes,
we'll do that. His NFL prospects, so a lot to
get into. I mentioned Kyler Murray. We've got NBA action
(02:13):
as far as you know, possible tampering again, it seems
like we go through this every couple two months with
Magic Johnson. But another possible Hello, Magic is this is
this microphone on Hello? Don't mention any other team players?
What part don't you get? But Magic is such a
personable guy, No, just a genuinely nice I don't think
(02:36):
he can help it, but he's got learned. He's got
to get Jennie bust a lot of money. I think
he paid it to define one time. But still and
uh christ, this is our second show of the day. Yes,
we had a ball on Undisputed. We're co hosting all weeks. Yes,

(03:21):
of energy, a lot of debating. Yeah, it was fun,
It really was. So thanks to Skipp and Shannon. They
never and Jenny taff they never take off two weeks
a year they take off, and so it is a
great opportunity for us. So we're obviously appreciative of them.
You know, they're both great guys. Yea, So tune in

She'll keep us updated throughout the show. We always appreciate that.
Connor is our intern and of course Elijah is our

I hope I said it right. Rob G. She used

I'm not going to the Magic City with you. No,
I'm not going to I was not an eat It's
not I wouldn't do that to you. Yeah, I understand
(04:52):
your faith, your your wife, you're married, a couple of kids.
Get all this Sunday. I'll pick you up after the
week that we have you. And you know I'm teaching
started teaching again too, So it's like you've had a
crazy day. So church, you know what. We'll get there, Chris,
(05:14):
we'll get there, all right, All right, Well, let's look
at the big story of the day. There have been
a couple, but I think the biggest, we both think
the biggest is the Cleveland brown signing Kareem Hunt. Three
months after, of course he was cut by the Kansas
City Chiefs for uh, I don't it's not domestic violence
(05:35):
but uh physical assault on a field? Yeah, um at
a hotel. We saw the video and now the Cleveland
Browns have picked him up. And do we have rob
g Is there sound of John Dorsey orm or state statement?
(05:55):
You don't have to read it all but a few
few key points. Oh have sound? Thank you? Oh you bet? Okay,
here's here's some of it there, it's it's cut up
pretty well. Let me see if I can find the
long cut. Here. You go. Every time you go through
these very difficult situations and these types of actions, you
have to study everything from the person for sure the
(06:18):
person and then find out are they willing to be
better people moving forward? And again this happens to be
one of those situations where at the at the end
of the day and the organization was comfortable moving forward
with signing this player. And he also talked about how
remorseful that he felt Kareem was. He understands and takes
full accountability act that he agregious, act that he committed.
(06:40):
He is extremely remorseful for his actions. What he has
done is he has sought professional counseling with regards moving
forward and anything like this situation. Once he understands his situation,
he is now working towards being a better manned moving forward.
(07:00):
By no means from an organizational standpoint, is this a
guarantee of anything. As we all know, you know, trust
has to be earned, and that has to be earned
with the Cleveland Browns organization and the community of Cleveland
moving forward. But Dorsey essentially said he had had a
long term relationship. You know, he's known Kareem for a
long time. He truly believes he's remorseful and he feels
(07:23):
that this young man deserves another chance. Chris Shame on
the Cleveland Browns. That's where I'm starting tonight from this stampoint.
That doesn't mean I don't think Kareem Hunt deserves another opportunity.
I do people deserve a second chance. I just think
it's way too soon. There's still an NFL investigation and
(07:43):
suspension that's coming. Why can't you wait for that to happen.
This sounds like a desperate team trying to get the
jump the same way to Washington Redskins did the same
exact thing by jumping the gun. All I'm saying is
let him, let him have a little let him think
about what he did, take a little more time, let
(08:05):
the process play out. Let the NFL do their suspension,
I mean, do their investigation finish it, suspend. He's on
the example list? What is the rush to grab somebody
on the example lists? And this is where when you
look at organizations, there are good ones and bad ones.
And this is a move that like the Cincinnati Bengals
(08:26):
did the same thing with Joe Mixon. This is what
bad organizations do. They jump the gun because they're so
desperate to try to win and get a leg up.
I get it, you haven't won, Jack, You think you
got something going, you gotta roster. Kareem hunts a good player, Chris,
I'll be the first one to tell you that. And
does he deserve another chance. Absolutely. I'm not one of
(08:46):
those one and done. There's the reason why they put
a racers on pencils, you know why. Because people make mistakes,
and even a bad one, which that was. But there's
no reason to jump the gun, it's all. And you
know what, there's another one. There's a little different with
the Patriots. If you remember Aaron Hernandez, they claimed they
(09:07):
were duped, right, they weren't duped. He was on the
do not draft list because of all the gang activity
and all the stuff. And they went out and they thought,
we're gonna get this guy who's a really good player,
and he'll come to the Patriots or whatever. And what
do he wand up doing? Wound up all right, killing
a mess. Obviously an extreme, no extreme, But I'm just
saying this is one of those where you jumped the gun.
(09:31):
And I hate to use that term, but you know
what I mean. You went and try to think you
were beating the system. And that's what the Cleveland Browns
are doing here. They want a guy that we know
as a good player. I don't know if the three
months that he's been off and he's already claimed by
a team, he has to feel vindicated, almost like, oh
that that wasn't bad. You know what they came. They
(09:53):
couldn't resist me no matter what I did. So from
that standpoint, I'm disappointed in the Browns to say, same
way I was disappointed in Washington when they did what
they did. Kareem Hunt will wait to see what the league,
how it plays out. If he's suspended for six games,
eight games, are you I don't know what he's gonna get,
and then we'll go from there. So I don't want
(10:15):
people to think that I'm a guy who doesn't believe
in second chances, because I do. I just think this
is premature shame on the Cleveland brown Look, I respect
your viewpoint. This is such a sensitive topic. You know,
I'm not gonna press back on what you what you feel,
but I don't have a problem with it. I think
that Kareem Hunt, as you said, certainly deserves a second chance.
(10:37):
What he did was terrible, But I also think he's
he's already been punished to some degree. He was cut,
he didn't get paid for those last five games he
was cut, and he obviously missed the playoffs as well,
and then he's going to likely have more suspension coming,
maybe a six games or whatever. I don't think that
(10:59):
Cleveland Browns are desperate because they got Nick Chubb who
had almost a thousand yard rusher. He had a great
rookie season. So it's not like, I mean, obviously Kareem's
a good player. They want to go with the two backs,
like kare was the best best running back two years rookie. Yeah,
and this, I mean, you know, he had a great year.
But I and I we said this before. As soon
(11:19):
as the news came out. We both said, and I
remember saying strongly, the Chiefs should suspend him for the
rest of the season. And then an hour or so
later they came out and cut him. But I think
I felt cut, Like honestly, I look back, I think
the Chiefs should have just suspended him for the rest
(11:40):
of the disagree with that. And they because it brought
him back, because they went to bat for him, and
because most people, most people in that situation when you
get caught doing something and you think you can get
out of it, you're gonna I hate to say it,
but most people are gonna lie. I understand. But but
(12:00):
when you when somebody backs you, you know what I mean,
is putting their reputation on the line. Just come clean
with me. Well let's let's try to work this out.
But you can't have me look like a fool holding
the bag at the end going oh, well, that's not
what he told us, And now here's video that totally
contradicts everything that he said. So you feel like a fool.
(12:21):
But that's why, that's why they caught bait. We got
a league where Ezekiel Elliott is playing. He served his
six game suspension. You know, the reports are that it
was stuff really went on. We don't have video though,
No we do have video Joe Nicks and knocking a
girl out in Oklahoma and he's in the league. He's
(12:41):
a fourth leading rusher in the league this season. So
it's it's not like guys who have had these issues
aren't getting second chances. I like the fact, and I know, look,
I totally believe that Kareem Hunt is at least initially
his remorse was him the fact he got caught. Yes,
(13:01):
it wasn't because what happened. You know, it was like
I got called you red handed on tape. Now I'm
cut my careers in Jeff Brad, that's where you're gonna
live with that, right, that's videotape that people will always see.
It's like Joe Mixon can go on and be the
fourth leading Russia, but don't don't kid yourself. That video
will follow you and haunt you for a long time. Yeah, no,
(13:24):
no question about it. But he I think Kareem looks
as it was read the statement from John Dorsey, he's
gone to counseling, and you know, you give him a
second chance if he screws up again. All the reports,
all that led up to was that he was a
decent guy, you know, and this was they said it
was out of character. So and I also believe Rob
(13:47):
that punishment is a good deterrent, and social shame or
social stigma is a good deterrent, you know. And I
think that the shame that he's gone through for doing this,
and the shame he would go through, which would be
even worse if he did something like it again, I
(14:07):
think it's a good deterrent. So that's why I think, Look,
you know, he's gonna get more suspension, probably from the league.
But I really don't have a problem with the Browns
doing it. All right, it's your chance to weigh in.
Did the Cleveland Browns jump the gun with the signing
of Kareem Hunt? Hit us up eight seven seven ninety
nine on Fox eight seven seven nine nine six sixty
(14:31):
three sixty nine. If you want to weigh in, we
will continue the conversation with you. Next, it's The Eye
Couple of Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live
editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and Rob
Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app. From a
car landing on a roof to a car landing in
the pool, we've covered him. Talk to farmers. We know
(14:54):
a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
We are farmers underwritten my Farmers struck Fire Insurance Exchange,
then affiliates products unavailable in every state. All right, you're
back to the Eye Couple Chris, Bruce Sar and Rod
park on this Musika Monday. We got some great news
for you. There's a quick and easy way you could
save money switch to Geico. It only takes fifteen minutes
(15:17):
to see if you can say fifteen percent or more
on your car insurance. Go to Geico dot com and
see how much you can say. Let me say to
you all I gotta checks. From a comedian and actor
Tracy Morgan, he says, hello, tell him I said high,
and he's gonna come visit us the next time he's
in LA But he I wouldn't get him in studio. Yeah,
(15:39):
he loves the show. He's a great guy, and he
thinks it's funny. He thinks it's funny. Thinks it's that's
what I say, it's funny. Does he think your jokes
are funny? He sees some of the clips and he
says he thinks that me and you have a natural
chemistry and that it's fun. That's what he said to him.
He should invite us to do a stand up for him.
(15:59):
He's he's great, he's great. All right, We threw it
out to you how you feel about the brown signing
Kareem Hunt Obviously a sensitive, serious issue, but we want
to get your views on at eight seven, seven ninety
nine on Fox eight seven seven nine nine six sixty
three sixty nine. Let's start with Danny in California. Danny,
(16:22):
you're on the odd couple. Welcome. Yes, Hey, how you
guys doing great? All right? Thanks? Yeah. I think it's
a good signing. Um. I think the guys so young
that he deserves deserves a second chap. I don't think
that's in debate, Danny, about him getting a second chance.
It's whether or not it's too soon, right, because chrisch
(16:45):
we both agree, but we both agree he deserves a
second Champa. So that's not the issue. Yeah, go ahead, Danny, Danny,
because when I was twenty one, I made a mistake
and I learned from that mistake right later on, later
on in my life, I was I was there on
the opposite end of something, and that person deserved a
(17:06):
chance immediately and was a perfect partner for life. So
it's never it's not It's up to the individual to
make of what the opportunity they get. I don't think
it's too soon, that's a good call. One thing in
our society, Rob and I mean you're talking about politics.
(17:28):
Everything is a lot of people don't want to give
guys second chances. And some of the stuff, some of
the stuff that's going on is heinous. But I'm talking
about when people like they made a mistake years ago,
and I think it depends on the level of the mistake.
Absolutely got to be careful the SA but nobody's perfect now.
(17:49):
Everybody has made some mistakes in the past. Now again
it depends on the level of the mistake as far
as there's some mistakes that people look at it rightfully,
something right and what you can and can't do in society.
But we do have to realize everybody's gonna make some
mistakes here and there no doubt. Mike and Lancaster, you're
on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Mike, Hey,
(18:12):
how's going, fellow? I appreciate you guys taking my call
and about this topic. I think it's a good signing
to it as well. But I will actually will like
for you to think about the flip side. What about
his family and friends, A lot of people he's let
down with this mistake, and wouldn't being young thinking that
his career is over. They're jumping on the ordeal because
(18:33):
he's a good player and they want to have action
at him right away. I'm coming from the standpoint that
I think he does deserve a second chance, taking that
they took so long to render the punishment because of
because of him telling the lies or not telling the
truth to his team and the family members. He's young.
What do you mean when you when you talk about
family members, what do you mean? I mean? Well, I'll
(18:56):
say he still say he got a grandmother. Let's just
say he got some cousins that he grew up with,
and other people who look up to him, the younger
family members. That's what I said. I ain't talk about friends,
people who wanted to want the money. I'm talking about
the people he let down in an interview who he
talks about when the first people he said, I let down.
These people besides the team that he talks about, he
let down as well. Also to this well of course,
(19:18):
of course, but I don't understand how that comes into
this comes into society right now wants to crucify him.
And you know, it's a lot of players that we
all look up to right now that did a lot
of domestic violence. No, no, but but he heroes that
we look up to I'm talking about yeah, right, But
what I'm saying Jim Brown have right now and I
(19:39):
didn't say, But Mike, the only problem is a lot
has changed as well. What people used to get away
with people don't get away with all. Right, Bill Cosby's
in prison. I'm just saying that. I mean different than
what I'm just saying. But I'm saying things are different.
People what was acceptable behavior or people didn't Bill Cosby
was never accept but I mean this was. That's just
(20:01):
saying that might have been. It's always been wrong. No,
I know, but siety is cracking down, That's what I'm saying. More.
I just don't think the family thing. I mean, when
you make a mistake like that, yeah you gotta face you,
but you gotta think about that before you exactly before
you do what you do, because you do have a
grandmother and the mother, the father, and that should be
(20:22):
a good deterrent right to know that. You don't want
to let you your parents down. You want somebody to
do that to your mother, a girlfriend, your wife, you know,
think about that before and not just after one more
call before the break. Let's go to Carlos in Birmingham. Carlos,
you're on with Chris and Robb. How you guys doing.
We're great. I didn't wanted to say. I think it
(20:44):
was a big pick up for the Browns overall. I
think Kareem had shot out you know long enough, you
know the punishment. No, he hasn't, Carlos, He hasn't sat
out long enough. The league hasn't even suspended him yet.
I understand what you guys are saying. You know, but
you know he lost out on a lot, you know,
being a part of an he has suffered some punishment,
(21:04):
no question, yea, right right, you know that. That's how
I'm looking at it. You know, he he's gonna miss
all on all those great things that my home and
the teams are about to you know do in mount team,
you know, and you know, signing with the Browns, you
know it's risked there also. But for the Browns, you
know it's for them it's boom or bus because Baker Mayfield,
you know, we don't know what he's gonna be in
(21:25):
total just yet, you know, So you get those true
personalities in the same locker room and then you know,
come by with what they could be on the field. Man,
you know, it could be win win both sides. All right,
thank you, Carlos. That's a good call, all right. The
Boston Celtics, the most disappointing team in the NBA thus far.
(21:46):
Our man Michael Holly has the answer next. But first
let's bringing Dab Carson the latest sport. I am fantastic.
Thank you, Happy Monday to you. Yes, thank you as well,
thank you, thank you. Well, we'll start with what you
guys they're talking about, of course, the Brown signing running
back Kareem hunt are reported one year contract. This is
GM John Dorsey. He is extremely remorseful for his actions.
(22:09):
He has sought professional counseling. He is now working towards
being a better man moving forward. And again, he is
still facing that NFL suspension. We don't know if it's
going to be four games, three games, six games, so
it'll be interesting to see when he's actually going to
be eligible to come back and return to the field.
We do know that Kyler Murray made his decision today.
(22:31):
He's going to head to the NFL Draft and plans
to play NFL football as a career rather than baseball.
The Oakland A's will still hold his major league rights,
and by the way, we are almost there, guys. The
Oakland pitchers and catchers reported to spring training today. So
that's just around the corner. Panthers did sign safety Eric
Read to a three year deal with more than twenty
two million bucks. Ten million of that is going to
(22:51):
be guaranteed. A lot of NBA stuff going on. The
NBA says it's going to investigate whether league rules were broken,
and the Ben Simmons Magic Johnson Communication. Lakers say the
seventy six Ers sent them an email last November asking
if Simmons could speak with Magic about his career, and
LAHGM told them only if the seventy six Ers give
written preapproval. Well, tonight could be the night one of
(23:14):
these teams is going to have to win. Right The
Knicks are facing the Cavaliers. Knicks have lost sixteen in
a row. They've won ten on the season, lost forty
five Cleveland, eleven and forty five. Right now, those two
teams duking it out in Cleveland. Right now, Calves are
up nineteen thirteen over the Knicks, four to go in
the first, four to go first in Detroit as well,
Pistons with a ten point lead over the Wizards twenty
five fifteen, and it's a twenty two fourteen lead for
(23:36):
the Pacers over the Hornets. With three minutes to go
in the first We'll be back with the Odd Couple
in ten seconds. But first, a word from farmers. From
a dog accidentally flooding a living room to a dog
taking a joy ride. If we've covered it, talk to farmers.
We know a thing or two. Because we've seen a
thing or two. We are farmers under written my farmers
to fire insurance exchanges and affiliates, products unavailable in every state.
(23:59):
Rob Parker Chris Bruce are back to you guys. Thank
you very much. Dev We appreciate it, you bet, and
it is the I Couple. Chris Bruce, R. Rob Parker
coming to you live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios.
It's easy to say fifteen percent or more in your
car insurance with Geico. Go to Geico dot com or
call eight hundred nine for seven Auto. The only hard
(24:19):
part is figuring out which way is easier. We're pleased
to bring in our next guest. He is an NBC
Sports in Boston analyst and host, and he's also the
host of the Michael Holly Podcast. You can follow him
on Twitter at Michael S. Holly h O L L E. Y.
One of our one of our good friends multi us.
(24:39):
We've a long time, yes decades, so we're glad to
bring him on. Mike Holly, what's happening, man, I'm just
calling this is the line to call for the free Jordans.
Rob's afraid to bet me. He runs his mouth like
he's all big and bad, makes these grand proclamations, and
then I and he wants to bet. Win Mike, he
(25:00):
want to and I'm like, yo, let's bet some Jordan's
really right? He backside like, come on, man, he wants
to bet. It's supposed to be a one on one
bet when Lebron making the playoffs in the league where
half the league makes the playoffs. Come on, I ain't
I wasn't born yesterday. Okay, So who your bet? You
(25:20):
think it's an easy bet? No? Yeah, for him to
make that that they're gonna make the playoffs, that's an
easy make. The Lakers are out. I'm the one taking
the risk. If you want you want to bet, you
know you want to bet three pair of Jordan's the
one though? Whatnot if you say it's easy. If it's
if you say it's easy, you should just say okay,
I'm gonna win it anyway, so this is an acron thing.
(25:41):
You gotta think you're gonna me I'm from New York.
Y'all must be crazy. I did tell him, Mike, I said, okay,
I would bet you a two hundred You buy me
a two hundred dollars pair of Jordans, and I buy
you a three hundred dollars pair. I want to I
want a four hundred dollars pair of premiums. No, why
it sounds like it sounds like this Bussari was some
(26:04):
new shoes I do. I'm a man rolling college. You
can understand that, Mike, I got kids, and Rob's single.
He walks in here with you know, Faarragamo shoes, Louis
Vatton shoes, ump, all types of you don't have that pretty.
You know. I'm glad you told me that, because that's
a perfect transition. You know. He came on TV and
(26:26):
Boston and he had people feeling sorry for him because
he said he was a broken down sports writer applebee.
But I don't even know now. But now you're telling
me he's got all this designer stuff. I'm sure he's
not eating an apple. He has to restaurant country. He
lives high on the hall even though he likes to
(26:47):
to to portray that every man every day on Hey Mike,
tell us about the Celtics. Man, I mean, let's try.
I don't think they got a shot and knees, but
go ahead, give us your you know I think I think, Look,
I think they have incredible talent. They really do. I
(27:08):
mean they have a You have guys like even though
Gordon Hayward is not back from himself, that got Gordon
Hayward come out of the bench, You've got Jaylen Brown
coming off the bench, and Terry rooms Er. I mean
those are guys. Those are really even got one All
Star and Hayward, a guy with All star talent, two
guys with All star talent, and Rosier and Jaylen Brown.
But I think the problem Fellas is between the years,
(27:31):
you know, they really the worst seem to happen to
them in my opinions, last year making it to the
Eastern Conference finals without Kyrie and without Hayward. So the
young guys really started to believe they had accomplished something.
And I gotta come at you, Parker. I gotta use
a New York for example. I would say what they
did last year, they had a very new York Jets mentality.
(27:54):
You know, oh, we made it to the AFC Championships
so well, especially in Boston, right, especially for the side
you didn't win. You didn't win anything. And so and
on top of that, I've been saying this all year,
not only did they have home court advantage last year
against the worst of Lebron's Cavalier teams. So Kyrie is
(28:15):
already here and Kyrie is not available to Cleveland North
Boston last year out for the playoffs. So they they
had home court advantage against that worst, the worst of
Lebron Cavalier teams. They went up to it and then
they lost four out of five ye to a bad team.
So you didn't accomplish it. As a matter of fact,
(28:37):
it was. It was just a gigantic disappointment. But I
think a lot of young players didn't look at it
that way, and so they're really having an internal struggle.
I don't know if Brad Stevens is going to be
able to fix it in time for the playoffs. It's
the I couple. Chris and Rob were joined by Michael
Holly from NBC Sports Boston. Mike, what about the Kywee
(28:58):
two step? Basically, I plan on resigning. He is signing here.
If you guys will have me to hit me up
from July first, right, what's the gut feeling in Boston?
People believe that he's out the door or no. I
think people in Boston are a little nervous that he's
going to leave. The Celtics remain confident that he's going
(29:20):
to stay. And I think a couple of things are
going on there with Kyrie's statement, and he just didn't
he didn't handle it. He didn't handle it well. See,
he sees something and you guys are dealt with him
before he's on he's on something completely different. So I
don't think it's coincidental at all that Kyrie would have
his reaction to the media and less than a week later,
(29:45):
Kevin Durant would have a similar reaction to the media
talking about free agency. So I think both of these
guys and they're good friends too. Yeah, yeah, they're they're
they're great friends, and I think they both resent having
to answer free agent questions. So for from Kyrie's perspective,
and this is this is where the disconnect happens. With
Kyrie's perspective is Hey, wait a minute, are already said this.
(30:07):
I said this at the beginning of the sea I
said this in the preseason. Don't ask me anymore. But
then the fan and media perspective is, well, there's talking,
you're having second thoughts. Can you just make us sit?
And he is so um, he's so strong minded. Uh,
he is so just hell bent on independence and being
(30:29):
his own man and being his own leader. He just
won't do what you want him to do. And so
I think that's what happened. I think I think he's
coming back. But he also answered it that way because
he's angry at this hole that he's in, this media position.
That's good insight. Um, Danny Ainge, it seems like he's
hell bent on going after Anthony Davis with or without Kyrie.
(30:52):
What do you think that's gonna look like in the offseason,
maybe even in both scenarios if Kyrie stays, if he goes,
are they just gonna do whatever it takes to get
a d even with because I'm being told Mike in
no uncertain terms that ad will not stay long term
in Boston, and I know Danny's being told that too,
(31:13):
But Danny doesn't seem determ going for it. I think that.
I think they're just they are just going straight ahead.
I think they're gonna trade for him, and it's risky, right,
can I keep saying? I keep saying, So, wait a minute,
they're gonna trade for Anthony Davis. Jason Tatum will be
I think he's gonna be twenty one next month. He's
(31:36):
gonna be twenty one this year and in twenty nineteen.
So he's only twenty years old. You gotta trade him.
And he's twenty one, and you can't get Anthony Davis
for a year. Then he leaves, and then you just
said goodbye to a twenty one year old ascending player.
I think he's gonna do it. What if he wins
a championship though it you know what I mean? Like
it would be worth it for what? But you But
(32:00):
you know, Parker, you gotta do it. You gotta win
that championship. You gotta know. I get it. I get like,
you got a two year window. You gotta Yeah, we
gotta said this ship this year. If you don't win
a championship this year, you may have said goodbye to
Anthony Davis and Jason Tatum. Now what you now? What
have you done Mike, you know, I mean, you've lived
in Boston now, I don't know, way too luny something
(32:22):
years or something now, you know nine. So you know,
a lot of African American players will bring up the
reputation of the city, and you know, we know they've
they've had problems with racism obviously in the past, um
and maybe still today, Like do you think that is
(32:42):
still a deterrent or a concern of some players or
even an experience that they go through sometimes up there
in Boston. I got, I'm glad you asked that question.
I was waiting for it. Uh on the Anthony Davis uh,
I got, this is just gonna happened. I was waiting
for it to come out because he said, Okay, I
(33:03):
don't want to go to Boston. I got the Clippers,
that got the Lakers. I got the Knicks, who also
put on there one more time, you put on there? Okay, Milwaukee, Milwaukee, yeah,
oh yeah, the Bucks, the Bucks Okay. And then it
was then the dad came out and said I don't
want to come because of Isaiah Thomas. And I was
just waiting for the next one to say, well, reputation
(33:27):
or something. But I gotta tell you, um and I'm
glad I'm talking to you all because you know, you
know what it's like the experience of a black person
in the United States of America. I just think, I
just think it's disintenuous to say that you're gonna isolate
(33:50):
Boston in this country. How could you isolate Boston, Massachusetts
as the only place or the the the headquarters a racism?
I think that is a racis I think, as a
matter of fact, I think it's reckless. I think it's
reckless to think of it that way. When we are
aware of what's going on in our country on a
(34:11):
daily basis, how can we talk about And I'm not
saying one is better than the racism is bad board
So it's not like, oh, they're more racist than we are. There,
let's no racism is terrible. So but I think it's
when I say it's reckless. You can't talk about, hey,
Boston being in a different category when right now Virginia
is still trying to recond style. It's governor being in
(34:34):
blackface and not apologize in that and not resigning. I mean,
there's so many issues that pop up around the country,
from police brutality to issues in the schools, I mean,
on and on competise across the board in the United
States of America. So they just look at Boston. I wonder,
(34:55):
I wonder why people do that. I wonder what the
agenda is, because even if you say from a historical standpoint, well,
we know the history of the United States, and from
from the East coast to the west West coast, north
to south, every community has something that it should be.
If they're not ashamed of, they should be ashamed though
literally well yeah, I mean a d is playing in
(35:16):
New Orleans right now. I'm from Louisianna. Every time I
go down there, it feels like I'm in the time
war racially. Hey, so I get what you I agree,
all right, Mike. We appreciate you, all right, my man,
not as not as much as I appreciate you guys,
And thanks for having me on anytime. I'm surprised perfect
you didn't bring up time, Brady, But that's okay, No, no, no,
(35:37):
we don't have. We just ran out of time time
because you know I would have. We'll have. You want
to get money, nothing to say, that's nothing to say.
I have to six Super Bowl stop stop buying that.
Stop Mike with all lads, all right, we'll talk to you.
Stop with those facts, Mike, don't don't bring that fact,
those facts and truth and Mike well NBC U later.
(35:57):
All right, Oh that was horrible. I deal with it
every day, all right, brother peace, all love you guys.
All right, the AAF got off to a very impressive start.
What is it sustainable? You even know what the A

A new football league made its debut this weekend. All Right,
The Alliance of American Football and I gotta tell you,
I watched some of it. I had the Houston Rockets
(37:04):
Oklahoma City game on my television Saturday night, and then
I had the AAF game on my computer and I
was watching it on that I was intrigued, and I
wasn't alone. Because the AAF on its first weekend or
Saturday night is debuted day or night, actually outrated the
(37:26):
NBA two point one to two point Oh. Now, NBA
ratings are up four percent in primetime games on ABC
from last year, so that's still probably a good rating
for the NBA, but the AAF got a better rating.
You think the NBA should be concerned. Well, this was
my watching of the AF this week. AAF. You said,
(37:49):
a F A a F O a F is that
Alliance of American Football? Ok, no interest whatsoever? So you just, uh,
that's not That's football season ended with the Super Bowl.
I'll see you come September when football kicks off again.
I'm just not that guy. I like football. I'd like
(38:09):
to take a break from it. And you know what,
people are gonna make a big deal. Oh, look at
the number, Look at the rating. People were intrigued at
the first time. You know what, I mean, not much
else was going on, so you tune in to see
go back to the history of the XFL and see
what rating it did when it first came on nine
point five and went through and this is a two
(38:31):
point one. Everybody going and that was a different time.
But I'm just saying, but look at the number, and
that thing sunk like a rock as time went on.
And people eventually will decide whether or not they want
to watch minor league football. First they were intrigued by it.
They watch it a little bit, and that's fine if
you want to spend your weekends watching it. I'm not
(38:52):
interested in that minor league football. Like I said, there's
college football I watched during the season. I don't want
to get burnt out on football. I will watch the
NBA now the seasons in full swing, with about twenty
five games left to the basketball season, Chris, I'm in.
I'm intrigued by that NCAA tournament is on this horizon
that's coming and pictures and catchers are starting to show
(39:14):
up at spring training. So that's where my focus will be.
If you love it, love football, can live without it
and want to watch that AA fe enjoy it, but
I'm not interested to. They do need an off season,
whether it's the summer or the sprit break. Yeah from football. However,
this weekend I did. I was longing for some football
(39:37):
really yeah. Yeah, and maybe because the Super Bowl. I
actually liked the Supervid. Yeah, it was a competitive game.
What's not what wasn't delight? It was boys competitive football.
It was just it was great defensive football and a
great suspenseful drive at the end. But I look, I
think the all You're right, we will see if they
(39:57):
can sustain these numbers. But the thirst for football in
this country is so great that I do think it
can survive. I actually think the AAF and the XFL
should make at some point eventually if they both have
relative success, should look at merging or having a championship
game between their two title teams or something like that.
(40:20):
But you know what, like like people always say, oh,
people can't get enough, gotta be careful. Oversaturated can be
a problem. Basketball, Yeah, it's too much. It's too much,
no question. And the other one is the NFL. Remember
they had two leagues in Europe, NFL Europe. In those
league they both folded. They tried it twice. Oh, people
(40:42):
love American It's just they don't go out with that exactly.
So they thought they put teams over there, and then
people realize, you know what. At first everybody was intrigued, Chris.
Then they realized this ain't the NFL. These are rejects
and has beens and never was it after a while.
I'm paying twenty dollars to see it. Never was nah,
(41:03):
I hear you, not me. I hear you. But it
is gonna be interesting. I'm glad it exists, and I
will have some interest in it going forward, I think.
But we'll see how what fans think of it. It's

playing great. I believe in the year, seriously that the
(43:33):
twenty nine and twenty eight right right, Lakers are twenty
game better, right, right, But that's just unbelievable. We've been
talking about that. Their coach is doing a tremendous job.
He's good on the diet and he could also coach basketball.
All right, Uh, Alice, can you listen to the show.

He's listening. He just thought Radkins, you had the right

Trust you can't go fishing in a pond if it's empty.
Ma man, Alex Alex thinks this is a night show.
You gotta pay attention here. All right, let's get on
(44:13):
the Magic Johnson. Rob Magic Johnson is speaking of being
in trouble. DJ TISCHERT Magic was in Philadelphia and has
once again found himself embroiled in a tampering or potential tampering.
(44:34):
He was there for the reverse to pep up the troops.
Right to talk to him was part of it, right,
And he talked to guys individually. I liked what he
said about that. You know, stop treating these guys like
their babies. They grown men, you know, Okay, their name,
we're in trade rumors, it's the NBA, it's a businessman.
That all sounds good. But if, but if that was
(44:56):
the case, that he wouldn't have to go talk to him.
If they're all grown men and they know what to
scaw still talking? Why they're grown man, they already know
what this is about. No, just because you're a grown
man don't mean you can't be talked to. Yes, it is.
Don't you don't want to talk to a grown man.
What you're gonna tell me? What to take care of
my kids and family? Little problems, nothing to do. No,
(45:18):
but I mean, he was saying, First of all, I
don't know if he even met with him all as
a team, but he talked to some guys individually, he said.
But he's right. I mean in life. You look, I
don't want to stereotype and paint the millennials with a
broad brush, but what you're going to I'm just saying,
there's some softness going around, you know, like life, you
(45:40):
have to deal with adversity. You have to deal with adversity,
you know. And I don't need to color coloring books
and you know, don't call me no snowflake and all that.
I mean, everything doesn't always go your way. Am I wrong? No?
(46:02):
In life, in our careers, everybody's careers. If you can't
deal with a little disappointment, if you can't deal with
maybe somebody not liking you, maybe somebody not thinking your
God's gift to the world, you know, and that you
you know, you should go elsewhere or whatever, then it's
gonna be tough to survive. Maybe you said something that
(46:23):
happened like three years later and you were right, but
you know at the time you weren't right. You know,
I've been calling for for years, but finally I was wondering,
where the world is he talking about. You're still not right.
It's gonna be right at some point. Just keep We'll
play that same tape next year, We'll played that same tape.
(46:46):
That's where I was going, Oh, oh, I see, I see.
We'll keep that one up between us. But that's where
I was going. Yes, But Magic Johnson, here's the sound
that has everybody in a tizzy. He reached out to me,
not to me directly, two the Lakers to find out
if we can get together this summer. I said, hey,
(47:07):
you got to clear it with the league, and he
wants to know how to play the position as a
big guard. It's fine, you know, I will do that.
But if everybody doesn't sign off, then we can't get together.
That is magic, of course, talking about Ben Simmons. Ben
Simmons has a lot of similarities to Magic Johnson. Obviously
(47:27):
six ten point guard. I think he plays a lot
like Magic, including not being a great outside shooter. But
Magic shot a lot better than Ben Simmons. Magic actually
had a nice little set shot jumper. I can't believe
how Ben Simmons ad The shots are so ugly, and
then he doesn't even look to shoot, you know, And
that's why that weekend, and I think Colin talked about
(47:48):
it on the Herd, like, watch the world is wrong
with Ben Simmons. Seriously, I gotta be honest. I think
Ben Simmons took a step forward this last week. Did
you just by taking the shots? And I don't think
it's for him looks that bad. I think there was
some other at the Lakers. I just looked at him
and he like he pulled up off a pick and roll.
(48:09):
I believe it was at the elbow and took a shot.
The shot didn't look that bad. It just didn't go in.
And I remember I did a big story for him
when we were at the other network before the draft
and we were in the gym and he was shooting.
His form didn't look bad. They just never went in.
You said, you said, he shot like a hundred shots
and none of them went in. Not quite a hundred,
(48:29):
but he shot. He shot a lot of shots, and
he missed most of them. I mean, it didn't Again,
it wasn't like, man, did you laugh at him? No,
come on, His form wasn't broken, but it just doesn't
go in. But I looked the fact that he took
a three pointer, has taken now I think three this year,
all within the last few games. And the fact that
(48:50):
he's starting to take the jump. You gotta keep the
defense ones. And with him, I think a big part
of it is a confidence thing. So the more he shoots,
even if he's missing it, I think that's a step forward. No,
I got it, because there is a confidence thing that
goes and when you're confident, you're not afraid. And then
you look at the guy who's afraid to take the shot.
(49:13):
And you know in the NBA, when you get an
open look at the basket, you gotta put it up.
It's just that simple. You can't pass up. You can't
do it. You can't not an open look because it's
so hard to get open looks right, right, And uh,
you know he wants to learn from magic and I
think he's right like because one thing he lacks, even
though he's a pretty good point guard, you know, he
(49:36):
lacks some of the natural instincts. Uh, you know, time
and space, Uh the clock, time and score, I mean, uh,
where to get the ball to the guy at the
right moment, like you know, running the offense. Those natural instincts.
I think Magic could help him with that, but he
reached out to Uh, you know, Magic said they had
(49:56):
to get permission from the Sixers. And this is Elton
Brand in response to this whole situation, he rob but
Lincoln called me and said, hey, um, you know we're
hearing Ben wants to talk to Hall of Famers championship
level players and uh, Magic's on the list. We need
authorization for him to meet up. And I said, no,
(50:16):
that was from uh. That was helping GM for the
Sixers on our friend Anthony Gargano's show ninety seven point
five The Fanatic rob And I'm just gonna let you
go after I say this. I agree with Elton Brand. No, No,
(50:37):
the Lakers have a history of tampering, and I mean
a recent history. I don't disagree times in the last year.
All he needs to do is get over there and
then get Simmons. Now he's a part of the Clutch
Sports two. He already right, he already illegal. It's not wrong,
but I don't want but Rich Paul represents Simmons right,
there's no doubt rich Lebron Simmons and friends. I mean,
(51:01):
you know Riches there work, you know, works for him.
But they are all friends too, right, But I'm just saying, like,
I'm with you on this, no way, no how, I
don't want you dealing with Magic. I'll look in our
seventy sixers at our former players. Now Moe does work,
he's coach, but I'll go through that and find somebody
(51:24):
who's comparable to you, who can help you out. But
I would rather you not deal with the enemy. We're
trying to beat them ultimately, and I just don't want
you listening to Magic in this situation. Retired and not
a bard another team then that's something totally different. But
as long as he's a league GM and attached to
(51:46):
or another organization, I'm with you, no, thank you. Yeah,
it's not even for me, it's not even Hey, he
works for another team, he's the enemy, You're right, obviously,
but you know that's not my main concern. If I'm
Elton Brand, my main concern is tamper Like Magic is
so charming and charismatic, and he gets Ben Simmons there
and you know, working with him, and you know it
(52:08):
just and I mean again, Magic's already tampered several times,
Like why would I It's like, you know, what was
was there a movie or something. This is like how
many times for now? Four times? This is the fourth
time they're they're being uh investigated, I guess, and so
uh no, it's just it's so you know what, it's
(52:31):
so bad when um uh Magic Johnson goes in the CVS,
they follow him around because he might tamper with the aspects.
Tracy Morgan is like sitting here if he's listening, He's like,
why did I ever send that text? Like I've created
a monster temper with you just think you say you
(52:54):
can say anything and the league just mind the look
this tamp print thing is really it's tough because I mean,
how it look a lot of these guys have relationships.
I mentioned Ben Simmons, Rich Paul Well what about the
find they gave the Milwaukee and being friends, they could
obviously easily talk to each other about Well, you can't
(53:16):
put it out but you can't put it out there publicly,
which is what Magic can't talk publicly about other teams players.
Mark Lazie, owner the Milwaukee Bucks, was just fine twenty
five grand for really a completely innocuous quote because he
just said something about that, Oh it was cool that
Uh yeah. Anthony Davids's list, that's only said to play
(53:37):
for us. That's what we want. We want players thinking,
you know that Milwaukee is a destination and that stop.
He didn't say, oh, I gotta have Anthony David's but
we gotta lure him to Milwaukee. That's temper if you
if they find him to me, they're gonna have to
find magic again because you just can't talk that extensively
about another team's player. And it's tough because here's the
(53:59):
thing too, Team USA, where you got Gregg Popovich as
a coach, you've got other I think I know Nate McMillan,
at least in the past, if not now, is one
of the assistant coaches coaching in the in the papers, like,
there are NBA types all over the place during USA basketball,
(54:20):
and they're coaching you, they're giving you pointers, they're learning
things about you, they're developing relationships with you that could
easily be fall into tampering. It's a tough situation. And
we talked earlier about I guess one thing you gotta
try to I mean, you just can't do it publicly
for sure, definitely, But it's a challenging situation. So you know,
(54:43):
we'll see where what happens with this situation with Magic,
but we're on. We're in agreement. Elton Brand did the
right thing. Just don't don't do it all right, It
is Elton Brand making a mistake by the nine. Ben
Simmons a chance to work out with Magic Johnson. NBA

What's happening? Man? The odd couple? Chriss Rob, what's up?
A man? Aw Man? Good? Good? Hey, let's get right
to it. We're gonna get into some OKAC stuff a
little later. But first, Magic Johnson he's under investigation again
(57:38):
for tampering with Ben Simmons, And uh, let me ask
you this are the are the Sixers? Because obviously, you know,
you see the similarities between Magic and Ben, and you
know some of the things Magic could probably teach him
are the Sixers making a mistake or they doing the
(57:59):
right thing? By the shutting that day, They're doing the
right thing. You can see the similarities between Magic and Band,
but you can also see the similarities between Lebron's agent,
and you has me David an agent, and and and
Ben Simmons is agent, and which I think is the
most important thing if you are, if you are Eldon
Brand the Philadelphia seventy sixties, the most important thing is
(58:20):
holding onto that asset, which is Richard Ben Simmons. Listen, now,
you know, make you know way think about it like, okay,
I would love to think that everybody in the world
has um has the right heart. And mister Johnson said,
you know what, I do want to help Ben Simmons
become a better point guard. I do want to help
him learn what it's like to make reads. At six
(58:41):
foot nine and six foot ten, one don't to run
a team. But if your brains you can't afford to
think that way, you know that that's tough man. You know,
I don't know where your thought process just from trying
to get Ben Simmons away. But you also understand that
Ben Simmons has the same agent as Lebron James, who
has same agents Davis. Everything that just went on with
(59:03):
Anthony Davids, I'm gonna go ahead and hold on the
bed Shimmis. I am not going to sign up on that.
We work with un Simmons in the off season and
they have It's not like Magic doesn't have a history
of tamprey. I didn't want to say it. I didn't
want to say it, so I let you say it. Yeah, Antonio,
speaking of that whole situation with a D, I mean
(59:28):
it seems a little crazy Magic saying that the Pelicans
didn't bargain in good faith although they never returned to
call or never got back to them. I think it
was pretty obvious that they weren't interested in making a deal.
What do you do you buy the Pelicans didn't act
in good faith? Well, I don't. I mean, realistically, I
(59:48):
was right, right, you know, I don't what is what
is I think in good faith? I don't What does
that mean? I can't answer that question. Obviously, the Pelicans
did not want to get a deal done. And I
think the reason that they didn't counter offers because what's
the counter offer all the Lakers have to do and say, okay,
we'll take it. Why? Why? That's what I mean? And
(01:00:10):
so that's why I don't understand, Like when you say
didn't bargain in good faith? If I never call you,
it's not like they said, you know what listen, we'll
talk about this tomorrow and maybe we can get a
deal done. You can throw everybody on your roster out there,
and it's my choice as an organization, because maybe I
felt like I was put in a bad position. Maybe
(01:00:32):
I felt like throwing public ten days before the deadline
where it was obvious that the Lakers will be the
front runners. Maybe I didn't like that. Maybe I didn't
like the fact that the Lakers and Magic Johnson were
um fine for tempering a while back. What's Anthony Davis?
So I can understand. I can understand where the Pelicans
(01:00:53):
were coming from. And maybe it shit the fact that
the Pelicans thought, you know what, why do we need
to treat Anthony Davis? Now? Was the shame deal that
you're offering year we'll be here in the summertime. Did
Magic and Rob Polincould come off as an experience that
that it was, you know, put out there that they
were willing to trade the entire team. It seemed like
(01:01:14):
that that that's not where you want that to go,
you know what I mean? Where where everybody on the
roster knows that they're expendable and Lebron doesn't want them.
Did they make a mistake that what that league people
almost really to me is about the whole Anthony Davis
uh trade saga with the timing. That's the part that
(01:01:35):
I didn't understand. I can't understand a guy saying, look,
I'm a clean and I don't want to play here anymore.
I think that that's your right as an athlete. But
the timing of it all, when you are a top
player in this league, it's tough to ask for a trade.
Ken bade before the deadline without being fired a landing
spot Kyrie, Kyrie everything. He asked for a trade. The
(01:01:58):
comer kawai as trade the summer because it's easier to
get done in the summer and you're not around your teammates.
And by some chids who don't get traded now, they're
not forced to be in the situation they're in right now.
And basically coming back into that locker room and looking
at everybody that you cold two guys aren't good enough
(01:02:18):
to win with, right, And it is the reason I
asked that question too. The poor zingis trade came out
of nowhere, like nobody right, you know what I mean?
Like you didn't hear any any rumors and then boom,
it's a trade. That's what I mean. That's the way
you probably want to handle it, because he asked out,
but nobody knew, right, because usually trades in this league
happened in silence. They usually happened in silence, like usually
(01:02:42):
use like a whole lot of talk about something. I guy,
it never happened, and you don't hear anything about it,
and you could put a notification on your phone like hey,
this guy's a trade, like oh, shoot, like he got moved.
Because trades usually happened in silence like those loud were.
It's like a whole lot of a lot of noise
about trade and tod and so forth. A lot of
(01:03:04):
times those trades rarely happen. It's the I couple were
joined by NBA champion Antonio Daniels. Antonio, you know, look,
on the one hand, I like and respect in you know,
player empowerment and all of that. But have has this
gone too far? Are we daring close to this going
too far? With these guys wanting to put these teams
(01:03:26):
together on their own? Um, are you fine with the
direction that it seems to be headed? Being a former player,
I'm okay with it, But here's my here's my thing. Okay,
so a A a team can trade you if they
feel like you're not living up to your potential, regardless
of feel how much do you have left on your contract? Right?
(01:03:49):
I haven't help on my contract? And you know what
we've getting out of Antonio, what we want out of him.
Let's him up with. There's no issue with that. Why
the player had that right? Well, but here's my only
thing now, I just I totally disagree because there's a
thing called some sort of competitive balance and trying to
(01:04:10):
have a semblance of a league, not just two or
three teams. And here's the other problem, Antonio. If that's
the case, then there shouldn't be a draft. Anybody should
just go play wherever they want. And the reason there's
a draft is to try to balance out the the
the players and have some sort of uh competition. Otherwise,
(01:04:30):
what do you have? Hold on? Hold on? Here's my
thing though, But I feel like we fold the term
super team around a lot's because two guys choose to
play together, that doesn't make them a supercread example, le
Bron team Bethley Davis would have teamed up. We've got
to automatically make them a championship team entire Rockers. No, yeah,
(01:04:55):
but but we have But we have a team now
that has five all Stars, that a going to the
finals for the fifth time. We'll go to the finals, no,
I know. But when they added the other players, that's
what changed everything. And and I'm not dude, they didn't
break any rules, but I'm talking about there hasn't been
(01:05:16):
a team to go to the NBA Finals five years
in a row since the sixties. And that's all I'm
saying that that's fine for the people who are Warriors
fans and a couple other teams, but other than that,
the rest of the NBA America. You could see him
in some of the numbers, but well, there's no competition.
Here's the thing, Rob, that's with player empowerment. If if
(01:05:39):
this summer goes as many people kind of think it will,
and now they'll be players talking to each other and working. Right,
If Kyrie and Durance decide to team up in New
York and a d does get traded to the Lakers,
um and and Kawhi Leonard goes whether he stays in
the Toronto or goes to the Clippers, like all of
a sudden, you, and that'll if Duran leaves, that de
(01:06:02):
police the Warriors, but they'll still be a contender. Like you,
you could be talking about seven teams or so that
are all at the same contending level. You know. So
it Duran just threw everything off because it's so good
that he went to such a good team. But see,
here's the thing though, a lot of times we are
(01:06:22):
we punished teams by saying what you said, Rob for
thinking proactively, you know what I mean, Like Brookie Cousins.
There are other people out there that maybe could have
made it going that Bookie Cousins, they've did it off
that more money, but they chose not to. There are
a lot of the teams because have drafted Draymond Green.
There are other teams that could have drafted Clay Thompsons,
they chose not to. So it's just to kind of
(01:06:44):
pup to punish the Golden State Warriors for thinking proactively.
I get the thought project, you know, Okay, you know
Golden States going to win every year. I completely understand that,
and I agree with what Christians said one hundred percent.
All it takes is one god to walk away. If
Kevin Durant walks away, and goes up where right right,
(01:07:04):
This is a conversation that's in the past. Now we're
talking about other teams that are being put together to
compete with the Golden State Weirrids. Do you take Bogie
Cousins off that team because you take the max deal
somewhere el you take Kevin Durrant off that team and
hypothetically say he matches up with with teams up with
Kyrie Irving. Now you're cooking about those three guys. Those
three guys, now have that sat without Kevin Durant and
(01:07:28):
without DeMarcus Cousins when you bass him up with the
rest of this league, right right, Antonio Daniel's great stuff,
Robert Shay, look for you be joining us every week
now during the season, and we're looking forward to that man,
for sure. I appreciate it. From all right, body appreciate it.
Rob par Parker says that Kyler Murray is making a
(01:07:49):
colossal mistake, and he'll tell you why next. But first
let's bring in dav Carson for the latest in Sports
Dead All right, guys, Well, you guys will get to
that mistake. Isn't a mistake. He has chosen pro football
over baseball. We'll find out for Bob Parker and Chris
Bruce Harden just a moment. Browns of sign running back
Kareem Hunt to a reported one year contract, Panthers of
(01:08:11):
sign safety Eric Reid to a three year deal worth
more than twenty two million bucks. He'll get ten million
and guaranteed, and the NFL veering from tradition. Normally it
is the Super Bowl champs that host the opening Thursday
night game of the season. The Patriots, however, are likely
going to be pushed back to open the Sunday night
opener instead because the NFL, celebrating its one hundredth season,
(01:08:32):
is leaning toward having a Packers Bears opener at Chicago
on Thursday, September fifth. They have not set that in
stone just yet, but that is where they are leaning.
Celtics guard Kyrie Irving not going to play tomorrow at

Toronto's won four in a row. E seed number one
one Milwaukee trails right now, Bucks trailing at Chicago, Bulls

three in a row. Right now they trail the Wizard
sixty nine sixty eight Washington with seven ago in the third,
(01:09:16):
and the Knicks and the Cavaliers both on losing skids.
New York has lost sixteen straight, Cleveland's lost four in
a row. Right now, Cavaliers with a seventy one fifty
nine lead over New York seven ago in the third.
Couple of streaks on the line as well. Tonight, James
Harden scored thirty plus in twenty nine straight games. The
Rockets right now with the twenty three seventeen lead over
the Mavericks two to go in the first. Also a
(01:09:38):
streak for Russell Westbrook, He's got nine straight triple doubles.
Thunder right now with a twenty one sixteen leader over
the Trailblazers three to go in the first. The t

We've talked about and Dad mentioned Kyler Murray is going
(01:11:06):
to the NFL. He has chosen football over baseball. I
know you do not stomach any bad news for baseball. West.
I want to hear your no, he say, you think
he's making a collossal mistake. Could do whatever he wants.
My only Molly issue is about It's about his size
in the NFL and what he'll have to overcome. Now,
(01:11:28):
if he can do it, Chris and he becomes a
star NFL quarterback, hats off to him. He's we would
be the shortest quarterback in the history of the NFL.
And that's why. Yeah, what about that Doug five ten?
He wasn't He ain't five ten. Doug flare very close
in size. I mean you're talking about and you're not
even talking about an inch difference between those. But I'm
(01:11:49):
just but he is the short He stood next to me.
He was about my height when we had him on
the radio show last Yeah, he's shorter than you he
was maybe slightly. But but this this is my only
thing is is I think and Doug flute made a
Pro Bowl by the way, Oh but that's nice. But
what do you think that that's that means you have
some success in the NFL? Back then? That was what
(01:12:11):
twenty years ago? Twenty five years ago? He made a
Pro Bowl. What do you think of Doug Flutie's NFL career? Well,
I mean he was okay, I mean he didn't get
a chance. By time he got a chance, he made
a Pro Bowl. Like, we can't just say he was
a joke. He was a side show. He was a circus.
I don't think that Doug Flutie when you think about
his I don't think of him as a great quarterback. No, no,
(01:12:32):
but this guy's better than Doug Flutie, and the NFL
is more built for his game. Now everything is repass option,
spread offense. I still got much better chance of succeeding today.
I will admit that they're more open to it than
they were in the past, Like they were never open
to guys who weren't your pocket passer, who were six
(01:12:54):
foot two. But I think the size will wind up
being the hindrance, not that he can't plug. And I've
seen a lot of guys playing college who weren't able
to make the transition over to the NFL. So I'm
both sides. Is even Heisman Trophy winners who were outstanding.
But here's the problem. Isn't that what he's saying. Isn't
(01:13:20):
that what Rod Parker's saying. You went in there and
told you to play that, Like, that's what Parker? You're
insulting short people. No, I'm not. My mom is four
foot eight, serious, My dad's five six. Your dad is
five sake and mutant and he's ripe size. Oh that's
(01:13:40):
not his not his husky, not his husky. I've been
you know what, And I'm meant to take Dada is
five foot six, Yeah, five six in my mind's for it.
I don't know how I got My brother's like five five, Yeah,
he might be five. How you have told us one
of the family in our immediate family ivan uncle's six
one and you know but yeah, I'm like you are.
(01:14:05):
And America don't have a mini car? What kind of
carn y'all drive? Let me let me tell America about
Rob G because I joke I've joked on here for
the last few months that he's five four. He's not five, No,
he's five, he's five six. Is he tipping he's five?
(01:14:27):
He's not five? Are you five six? Five six? I'm
five seven with shoes on, okay, but that's five six, right.
But he's husky, so he looks he's not like a
tiny guy because he's fat. He's called you fat compliments
all over the place, cold, you fat, fat. He's not that.
(01:14:50):
He is husky. He's not fat. He's husky though. Is
he not husky? I wouldn't use that term? Why not?
Do they still socky? Do they sell husk? He closed
when you were a kid, yes, remember right? Yes? Yeah,
kids fat without calling the fact because I remember the
(01:15:10):
husky section. Remember tough skins, you wear tough skins. They
didn't have those. I don't think with Rob g. He's
a little younger, but yeah, everybody works funny though in
the husky department. So he's husky. He's five six husky,
and he doesn't look short because he's so husky. Yeah, anyway,
go ahead. It's it's it's his decision to make. He
made his decision, and I'm not knocking his decision. I'm
just saying I think the height will play a factor
(01:15:32):
and we'll see if the game translates over. I get it.
You you you go and play. You go and play
in college football and you win the Heidsman Trophy and
put up a great season. You want to see, Wall,
look at what I did against major competition. Can I
do this in the next level. I wouldn't be intrigued
as well to see what you've done and see if
(01:15:52):
you could do it on the next level. It'll be
interesting to see if he can. And if he can't
then I mean it's not ideal. But if you don't,
say stays in the NFL three four years and it
just isn't working, he can go try baseball. Now. I
know you take some years off. It's not gonna be tough.
But we saw Dion Sanders do it and have really
good successful when he played, So you know that's possible
(01:16:16):
to financially if he's a first round pick. Even though
he's sending back to five million dollars to the age,
you know, well, he's still financially if he's a first
round pick, it's better off in football right now. He
you know, you don't have to wait that three years
to get really start getting paid. Three full seasons in
the Major League Baseball before you can get any type
(01:16:40):
of real money. You'll be playing your first three years
for hundreds of thousands of dollars. He'll get like seventeen
million dollars. You know, if he's a first round draft
you still think he is. I mean, I've seen some
different draft right, it depends on who you talk to. Yeah,
it's you know, you're you're absolutely right. Like I mean,
I would say most really great college quarterbacks did not
(01:17:02):
pan out in the NFL. That's not even really, that's
not even the thing. No, it's not it's not it's
not knock. It's not a knock on him. There's a
lot of guys who played really well in college. I
do think he'll be good in the NFL because of
the way the game has changed. Like I think ten
years ago, he wouldn't be viewed as as much of
an NFL prospect, but the way the game has changed.
(01:17:24):
He is a great passer, at least he was at
the collegiate level. He can run, but I wouldn't call
him prime. He's primarily a runner. Uh And and he's
a he's what two inches maybe three shorter than Baker
Mayfield something. He's had a better college season than Baker Mayfield.
Last Baker Mayfield was six foot and you know, didn't
(01:17:47):
pan out for him, and he was didn't pay I mean,
I'm not even know. I'm thinking of all Johnny Manzel, right,
Johnny Manzel and yeah, man Manzel had a numbelievable guy
in college and he and he didn't it didn't work,
but he had some other demons and issues going on,
So you don't know if it was that more so
than that he couldn't make it on the next level,
getting with the right coach might be. I think that's
(01:18:08):
gonna be critical for him, and it'll be interesting. Colin
said something today that I thought he said he liked them,
But at my dead GM, that's putting my neck on
the line. Draft him in the first round and and
it doesn't pan out like that, that's your reputation if
you take a guy who's so under size and then
it doesn't work, you know what I mean? Like that,
like either you hit pay dirt, Chris, or you just
(01:18:31):
caught yourself a job. That's really what happens, because it
Josh mcdonnels with Tim Tebow in the first round with Denver,
it wind up costing him. Ye hit us up eight
seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine
nine six sixty three sixty nine. If you want to
weigh in, what do you think about Kyler Murray's decision
football over baseball, We'll continue the conversation with you. It's

Murray Murray choosing football over basketball. Let's start with Joseph
in Tampa. Joseph, welcome, You're on with Chris and Rob.
What's up? Chris? I was having this France day. Uh,
(01:20:01):
thanks for the call. By the way, Um, you said
that the league's built around Kyler Murray, but how many
people say it's more? It's more Uh, you know, it's
more built on style that is more compatible with his game.
That's all I'm saying. You know, he might be a max,
he could be an All star baseball player, but football
(01:20:23):
best best scenario for him is us is a middle
of the road quarterback. I mean, how many people? Why?
How many mobile? How many mobile quarterbacks have won a
Super Bowl? How many smaller quarterbacks? But this is Rogers, Well,
Aaron Rodgers is a mobile quarterback. Look. Look, let's you
(01:20:48):
are you saying Kyler Murphy is more of a runner
than a passer. I wouldn't say that. I wouldn't say
he's more of a runner than a passer. But look
at the guys that have been successful, the young guys.
Look at Jared Goff, look at Carson Wins. They're all
six foot plus tall, big guys, stay in the pocket.
Pat Mahomes, Pat Mahomes, He's not that that type. Yeah,
(01:21:09):
but he's not five no, no, no, all right. Joseph Wilson, Joseph,
thanks for the call, appreciate it. What about Dustin and
Indianapolis on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio? Hey,
what's going on? Guys? Thanks for having me, No problem, Dustin,
what you got? Well? I think for him personally, he's
gotta go with his heart. But for me, I mean, look,
(01:21:31):
there's no guarantees in the NFL. We all know that.
And he's gonna stay a lot healthier being a baseball
player and makes probably more money because unless he's a
superstar NFL player, he ain't gonna even touch what he
could make in the MLB well LB as well. It's
just he's been more now. He was good at Oklahoma
(01:21:53):
in baseball, but he's been more six he's had more
success in football only because he won the Hisman, no
doubt about. But I mean even if he hadn't won
the Heisman, he would. He was more successful last year
than than ever in baseball. But I just need baseball
is tough too. No, it is like we asked, remember
All Star, Remember when we talked to him about that,
(01:22:13):
and he just said about about hitting. I said, is
that the toughest thing to do? But you ask everybody that, Yeah,
because it is hard. I think the hardest thing, though,
is being a quarterback. Really. I mean, I don't think
people appreciate how difficult it is. When you got people
rushing at you. You got to see your receivers and
(01:22:35):
where they're at, uh, and deliver the ball like it's
incredibly difficult. So I would say being a quarterback is
the toughest thing in sports. But basically in the baseball
ain't easy. Yeah, I'm just talking about in general, Like
you know, you fail seven out of ten times and
you're great. That's how hard it is. That's what I
always base it on. You can't do that as far
(01:22:58):

thirty minutes. A little bit less than that, We've got
Bucky Brooks from the NFL Network and also an analyst
for FS one and I can't wait to talk to
Bucky about Tyler Murray and and you know what his
prospects are for the NFL. I've seen a couple of
things say that he's gonna be a first round pixel see.
I mean yeah, Bucky wasn't high on Baker Mayfield. No,
(01:24:04):
we talked about him before the draft or season, and
he didn't. He wasn't that high on him. But it's
so far, so good. We'll see, we'll see what right
once they make the adjustments and he don't have to
make adjustments. That's just how it is. The one guy
I do feel kind of the young guns. The one
guy I'm sold on it is Patrick Mahone. Yeah, and rightfully.
(01:24:24):
I mean he was MVP his first starting season. You're
not sold. It's not that I'm not sold. I thought
he had a really good year. I just want to
see him a second year. How about this, that's all
we bet? We have this. He had fifty touchdowns this year.
He said he'll have fifty five. No, the bet was
you said he won't have forty, right, So if he
(01:24:44):
asked forty or more, I wint Why how about that bet?
Being Jordan? Look, what are you trying to get? Bucks?
Money bags? Yeah? You I don't have any more. But
I'm you mean, when you make these proclamations, you so confident,
and I'm saying, let's really see I'm confident in my proclamation. Yeah,
(01:25:08):
I mean you gotta you got an easier road to
go with my homes. Yeah, forty touchdowns and having excuse
your boy, Aaron Rodgers didn't throw forty touchdowns last year?
Oh he was hurt. I think he may have only
done it once. Nikes vapor but yeah, he's comfortable too.
(01:25:28):
And then what you got pink and yellow and black yellow? Yeah, yeah,
I see see, I know I looked at those sneakers.
You want the best, some vapor max down as much
as vintage. We'll have. Let me. Let me come up
with a bet, will better pair of Jordans this this
coming season? Absolutely, I don't trust you to why I'll
come up with the stip your las house. These bets
(01:25:49):
I've thrown out are fair. The Lakers are out of
the playoffs. They're the ones that have to climb. So
once they're four games out, becauld you say they're gonna
make it? When they get four games out will make
They're not gonna be four again, Yes they are. They're
gonna lose to what they play the Hawks on Tuesday,
to lose that game. Six of their next eight games
all Atlanta, Phoenix not in disorder, to New Orleans twice
(01:26:15):
some other also, and you know what, Anthony Davis will
go off and have a big night against the Lakers.
That'll be it because you'll want to show them how
good He didn't play the fourth quarter last game, so
I don't. But they won, didn't they win? Again? He
was monstrous. He had thirty two and three quarters. But
didn't they win the Clippers? Yeah, I don't know if
they won or not. But anyway, let's move back to
(01:26:37):
the NFL and Kareem Hunt. That's kind of the story
of the day. And we know the Cleveland Browns have
signed him. Here's the sound from their GM John Dorsey.
Remember this is three months after the Kansas City Chiefs
cut him, just straight cut him because he lied to
the incident number one, but he also lied to them. Wow,
(01:26:59):
when they stood up for him and remember that. So
so people can say, oh, that was wrong for them,
but they don't think it was wrong. But I think
they made a mistake. I don't I think they could
have suspended him for the rest of the year, maybe
missing someone next when you have him back, because he
(01:27:19):
is a great player. I respect them putting, you know,
real life ahead of football. That hurt them. Hurt that.
I mean, they maybe they would have won the Super Bowl,
don't know, but they were with me and Williams played well.
But but I'm just saying that that was a player
who led the league's rookie year rush, right, But I
(01:27:42):
salute them for doing that. But he's going to be
back in the league right now. It looks like with
the Cleveland Browns, and there are other players in the
league that have done that or and you know, even
worse and so, but you know, good for them. They
stood up on principle character. And it's not about whether
this is the one thing that we agree on that
he deserves a second chance. Right. My thing is is
(01:28:05):
too soon. I'd rather let the NFL investigation play itself out. Then,
you know, go from there. Let him continue to counseling
and all the other stuff that he's doing. Let that
play out, and then have a conversation with him. When
the league says you're off the example list, you're reinstated,
have an interview with him, have a conversation. This is
(01:28:27):
just jumping the gun because you don't want anybody else.
I mean, they are doing they are making a football.
This is Oh, I get John. I believe John Dorees.
Let's hear what Dorsey said to explain why they made
this move. He understands and takes full accountability act that
he agregious, act that he committed. He is extremely remorseful
(01:28:48):
for his actions. What he has done is he has
sought professional counseling with regards moving forward in anything like
this situation. Once he understands his situation, he is now
working towards being a better man moving forward. By no
means from an organizational standpoint, is this a guarantee of anything.
(01:29:12):
As we all know, you know, trust has to be earned,
and that has to be earned with the Cleveland Browns
Organization and the community of Cleveland moving forward, any situation
like this, what you attempt to do is get your facts,
understand the situations involved, Understand who the person who drives
that person. Again, I keep coming back to this, there
(01:29:35):
are no guarantees. You are going to have to earn
the trust in this situation, and I truly believe that
he will be a better man moving forward than he
was in the past. Every time you go through these
very difficult situations and these types of actions, you have
to study everything from the person for sure the person,
(01:29:56):
and then find out are they willing to be better
people moving forward? And again, this happens to be one
of those situations where at the at the end of
the day, the organization was comfortable moving forward with signing
this player. Yeah, I don't think it's too soon because
he's already served some punishment. It's too soon for me. Yeah,
(01:30:17):
But because he's still on the exemplest and there's a
suspension coming, that's what makes it too soon for me.
It's not too soon for me. He's already served some punishment.
We're more coming likely, but he's already been suspended. You know,
miss five games and the playoffs, So that's more games
than Ezekiel Elliott served. So he's had some punishment and
again will probably get another six games. Yeah. But the
(01:30:40):
difference with the Ezekiel Elliott is that the Cowboys didn't
do anything to him. This is a team that went
out of their way to back him when the stuff
first came out. Talking about the chief the Chiefs, I'm
saying with Ezekiel, he got suspended by the league, not
by the Cowboys, right, I'm talking about Kansas City is
the one that said this is not good enough for
(01:31:00):
our organization. We don't need to wait for the NFL. Look,
but they got Tyreek Hill playing Yeah, no, but Hill
playing guilty to strangling and punch I know what I mean.
That's why, Like, I get what they did, and again
I salute them for it. But but did Tyreek Hill
lie to them once they were first to be lied.
(01:31:24):
I mean, but that Tyreek Hill did was worse than
what we saw on camera with Kareem Hunt. Now domestic
violence or Hi didn't. I was gonna say, no, there's
but there's degrees. Don't just it. It's all degree. For me,
it's all bad. I don't care. You know, it's all bad.
Everything is that you don't it's bad. I don't look
at I don't look at punching a pregnant women in
(01:31:45):
their sto I just not worse than taking a woman. Yes,
but what is it we're gonna We're gonna like we
gotta gauge them or for me as a gauge, Okay,
I mean some there's certain degrees of some things. I'm
not saying he wasn't wrong at all. I was. I
called for him to be suspended for the rest of
the year. Yeah, So I'm not just saying what he
(01:32:05):
did was okay. I'm just saying, can't nobody tell me
Tyreek Hill strangling almost you know, strangling his girlfriend and
punching her in the stomach when she's pregnant. It's horrible.
That's worse we saw. I mean it was terrible what
Kareem Hunt did, but we saw it ray Rice, what
(01:32:26):
he did punching his girl with a closed fist, that's
worse I just look at But there's degree. I'm not
into the degrees of violence or assault on women. To me.
Once you do that, you crossed the line of that.
I'm not saying you don't. I'm just when I'm saying,
like a lot of other things, like certain degrees, we
(01:32:49):
have that in our judicial system, But I don't look
at it. That work everything. But I'm just saying our
law system, we do. You rank crimes, and you know
that's how you do. Like every thing isn't equal. I don't.
But if I'm not saying this, right, I mean, I
know you're not accusing me of saying I'm not. Okay,
of course you didn't say that. I'm just saying I
don't rank assault against women. That's what I don't. I
(01:33:12):
just think they did what they had to do, and
obviously they had to with Tyree. I'm sure I don't
know all the history of what went on in a conversation.
Guilty to strength, you know what I'm saying, right, and
didn't and he didn't serve right then happen in college,
didn't it? Right? And he was taking off the team
in college, right, I don't know all those Yeah he
(01:33:33):
got that. Wasn't there a punishment? There was some sort
of punishment that he had to fess up to. And
in this case, I think the Kareem hunt thing. The
only reason why I'm saying this is I think they
felt like, you know, we took your on and and
like that. When the video comes out, that's that's you know,
(01:33:55):
that's what it was. Video makes a big difference because
people can see themselves. Whenever there's an altercation, people can
try to justify whatever they want. Oh well, you don't
know what she did. You don't know what he did.
It's a he said, she said thing. But when you
see the video, because everybody, most people thought ray Rice
wasn't that bad until they saw the video, My right,
(01:34:16):
didn't that change everybody's opinion when they saw that video?
Apparently they always think that with these NFL plays, right,
you know, God, what if we saw what happened with
Ezekiel Elliott? You know, that might change everything. So you know,
it is what it is with that, but it's your
turn the way in eight seven, seven ninety nine on
(01:34:37):
five Was it too soon or not? Was it eight seven,
seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. Do you
think that the Browns should have waited before signing Kareem Hunt?
Or you fine with their decision? It's your chance to
weigh in. We'll continue the conversation with you. It's the
Eye Couple of Fox Sports Radio that's too soon, bro.
(01:34:58):

Brussar and Rob Parker on this Musiqua Monday, the fresh
sounds of DJ Alex tie Shirt put that money down.
They just rolled me up on the human resources Chris,
I hear you, I hear your brother. We also might
be getting a car soon. So let me tell you this. Yeah,
(01:35:43):
I still didn't get my car. You gotta get it.
You need a new car. And when you go car shop,
and remember this, it can be confusing. They're gonna hit
you with terms like dealer price list, price invoice. Make
sure you get truecr Rob, because True Car shows you
what other people pay for the car you want. That
way you can redis was a good price? And what's
a bad price? When you're ready to buy a new
(01:36:03):
or even a used car, visit True Car to get
your confidence up. All right? Eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox A new Car eight seven seven nine nine
six sixty three sixty nine. We're gonna give you a
chance to weigh in. What do you think about the
Kareem Hunt signing? Was it too soon? Or you you
(01:36:23):
agree with despite the suspension that's still coming down. You're
you're cool with the Browns up, you know, locking him,
locking him in for a one year contract despite the
idea that he is still on the Commissioner's examples. Too soon, bro.
Let's go to Kyle in Vegas. Kyle, Welcome to the
(01:36:44):
Odd Couple. Hey, John, good evening. How are you guys
doing doing great, great great. So here's the thing. Chicago
was already looking into signing them potentially. I don't know
what happened with that deal. Cleveland gets the right soon.
I mean, I don't mean to throw the race card
out there, but you know, it had he been a
(01:37:04):
white superstar that did this and it's been under the radar.
But because he's young, he's black, he has money, it
gets put out there. Nobody, No, no, no, I don't
know a video that Ruben Foster too. Though at the
same time, Rubert Foster is still on the still you know,
out there with his sting going to but yet he
(01:37:25):
has a contract coming up. His girlfriend rob g did
she drop the charges something something happened with that. Yeah,
but Kyle, no, when there's a video like that, especially, uh,
it's hard that people they can't ignore that. And yeah,
this charge against Rubert Foster with right, but but not
in this in this case, he still has a suspension,
(01:37:47):
he's still he's still on the exemple list. And then
I understand that, and that's what I'm saying that probably
watched Chicago, you know, my hometown favorite. That's probably why
they didn't pick them up. To pick him up is
because of the pending investigation and I'm still going forward now.
Commissioner of ADEL should do everything in his power at
the end of the day to make sure that, hey,
(01:38:07):
it gets done in the right manner and if he
deserves to go down to the to the AF or
whatever other week. Are you talking about Kareem Hunt. Yeah,
they're gonna suspend him suspension. Then to be back in
the NFL, He's going to be suspended. He was always
going to get suspended by the league. What Kansas City
did was a team punishment that wasn't right. I got you,
(01:38:30):
got you, no doubt. Thanks for the call, Kyle, were
appreciate it. What about Kevin in Springfield? You're on the
old couple of Fox Sports Radio. You Springfield, Illinois or Massachusetts, Ohio? Oh, Missouri? Springfield? No,
I know, That's why I was asking. I know there's
so many yes Springfield down here in the Queen City
just below Kansas City, and um, hey, I'm just about
(01:38:53):
Kareem Hunt. I just want to say that, Man, I've
done things in my life and I was devastated, and
I devastated in my heart and my soul, my mind.
I never want to do that again. I think he's
at that point. I think he has been devastated by
this thing that has happened. He worked his whole life
to get into the NFL. He got there, he was
(01:39:16):
very successful, he lied, he got fired, and now he's
looking for a new job, and he's done everything possible
to get back on track. I think he deserves a
second chance. If he doesn't deserve a second chance, then
none of us knew. No, we agree with the second chance.
The thing Kevin is he's still going to be suspended
by the league. And should the teams or the Browns
(01:39:40):
have waited until that suspension came down and he was
off the example list, that's really the issue. Should they
have waited? I don't think so. I think that let's
move on with this thing. He's young, you know, and
all that takes his one play, he gets hurt and
he's gone. Anyway, Yeah, they made a football decision. He's
a really good player, and they said, look, let's get
(01:40:02):
him and whenever he's available, we'll have him. And so
I think that's that's what they did. And look like
I said, he's already paid some price, he's gonna pay more.
But He's already missed five games in the regular season,
and then all of the Chiefs playoff runs. So let's
get to Tony in North Carolina and Tonia on with
Chris and Robb. Hey, that's going two things. My first
(01:40:26):
take is, why, wait, what's the downside other than you know,
Cleveland getting some bad press or coaches getting fired. You
know they lose coaches or fire coaches every year anyway,
So what's the big deal. He's gonna play because teams
are gonna have a slow start and his market value
is going to increase. You jumped the punch on everybody else.
(01:40:48):
I really don't understand. Why wait do it now? Because
he's on the example less and he could be suspended
for six to eight games or maybe a year. I
don't know. Yeah, but that's so what that mean? But
depth when he whenever he can play, they're gonna happen.
I know. But the idea that that you don't understand,
why wait? Why did the negative part of like getting
(01:41:08):
him your team and your fan base not being happy
that you're taking a guy on that team. I don't
think the fans are. I mean, he's something still right
and he's gonna pay more. But but some teams. How
many teams if heck who how many teams got a
guy that's done what you have no idea? But a
lot of them. So a lot of Dallas isn't mad
with Ezekiel Elliott. But this is the Sinnati Got Joe mix.
(01:41:30):
But this is my point. There are teams. Tony Dungee
talked about it when when Aaron Hernandez he's on the
do not draft list. I'm just saying Christ wasn't. There
are people do not no. But there are people who
are good players who they're still an organization decides we
don't want this guy in the organization, no matter how
good he is. That's what I'm talking about. Let's go
(01:41:52):
to Anthony and Michigan. Anthony, you're on with the Eye couple. Hey, guys,
how you doing great? Good? Hey? I called into the
local station here and I told him as soon as
he got cut to sign him because number one, his
suspension clock is not gonna start until you sign him,
So you gotta you gotta sign him so that therefore
(01:42:13):
you put him on Eye. What do you mean it's
suspension clock? You how can you suspend a guy that's
not on a team, right, No, but he has to
go through it. But he has to go through an
investigation until they finalize that. Rob, we've seen the investigation.
They didn't even want to They didn't even want to
get the tape. The NFL gets the information they want
to get, they do with it what they please, and
(01:42:35):
in order for a team to have him at whatever point,
you gotta sign him first. You're not gonna suspend a
guy that that's not on a team, he's on the
examp list. No, but what but what once they finish
and they have a verdict on what they're gonna do,
they do have that, And then when you go to
him and say we want to sign him, what are
(01:42:55):
you talking about, Rob? Rob, we've seen the video. What investigation,
the rich An investigation. I don't know. They wanted to
do a thorough want to talk to everybody involved. It
really remains is that they're gonna decide he's gonna get suspended.
And what Anthony's saying is that, you know, basically what
a lot of people said. The Browns they got him
(01:43:16):
so whenever he can play, they locked him up versus
him being you know, on the example list. The league
then clears him to play, and then a bunch of
teams are going for him and maybe it's in the
bidding war or something. Rob you you call the Pro
Bowl a sham. This is a guy that's an all
pro talent, so you he's legit. But but that's to Anthony.
(01:43:40):
We know that we've talked about that. He's a great player.
All I'm hey Tony, Tony, please don't say my name again, please?
I did? What is that? Let's go to Ryan in Kentucky. Ryan,
you're on with the Eye Couple. What's up, guys? How
you doing the night? Good happening? Hey, listen, this is
my opinion. Why why is anybody even allowed to sign
(01:44:04):
the guy? For one? They need to set an example.
You know, you can't just go out and mess with women,
beat up women and things like that and turn around
and somebody slap you on the hand say it's okay.
Another team will turn back around and resign you. It's
no big deal. Explain to me that I don't understand
it because they don't care. You know what they care about.
They care about talent. They got plenty of god who
(01:44:28):
are felons and had all kinds of bad things happen
and they and if they could play, If if Kareem
Hunt couldn't play, you know where he'd be. He wouldn't
be in the NFL. Yeah, he wouldn't be in l Yeah.
I just thought saying, are you saying ry he should
be out for life? Are you saying he should be
out for life he can't play in the NFL? Yes, exactly.
(01:44:50):
I don't care if you got talent. You got a
lot of the NFL players that have done this, And
I'm not saying it's fine, but I'm just saying they
need to If they're gonna do it to him, they
need to do it forever everybody. You can't do it
like that. Ron. And the other thing is people make
mistakes in life. That's what There's nobody perfect. So I'm
not saying that people shouldn't get a second chance. There
(01:45:11):
are degrees and Chris, you talked about it. There's certain
things that people won't have an association with second and
you won't get a second chance no matter what. But
the idea that a twenty three year old who fesses
up and takes his penalty or whatever should not get
a second chance, I'm not in that school. I just
don't buy into that. All right. We will get deeper
(01:45:32):
into the Kareem Hunt situation with FS one NFL analyst
Bucky Brooks next. But first, let's welcome in Dab Carson

(01:48:23):
to the side couple. Hey, thank you having on guys,
what's going on. It's great to have you on, man.
Let's get right to the story of the day. Well,
there's two stories of the days. I'm gonna hit you
first with the Kyler Murray. What did you think of
his decision to choose football over baseball? And what do
you think of his prospects as an NFL quarterback first
(01:48:45):
rounder late rounds? And how good do you think he
could be? Oh? I thought it was a smart business
decision based on everything that I knew about Kyler Murray.
Kyler Murray is a big time football player. He's a
big time football player in high school in the faded As.
There's someone that say they would say he may have
been the best high school player to ever played there.
And so I knew that his affinity for football was deep.
(01:49:08):
And then when you do look at the economic because
though so many people have been like, why would he
give about four point six million dollars playing baseball? He
could be a two three hundred million dollars baseball player. Well,
the way to Keller Murray probably looked at it. Lamar
Jackson was a thirty second overall pick. Lamar Jackson was
guaranteed about eight million dollars. At the worst, Cala Murray
(01:49:29):
was going to make eight million guaranteed if he entered
the draft, and even if he wouldn't to the second round,
he would have to go below thirty six to come
out on the short end of the stick when it
came to the money. I thought it was a wise
decision for him to go in to play football because
as its quarterback. I don't think there are four quarterbacks
that have bettered him, and in fact, I've talked to
(01:49:50):
some people who think he may be the first or
second best quarterback into his draft. When you're hearing that
kind of intel, you probably feel good about your chances
of being a first round pick. I think Kyler Murray
made a decision that he's based on his opportunity to
be a certain quarterback in the league and to eventually
make a lot of money if he played up to
its potential. You don't do not bother by his height.
(01:50:12):
You think that it doesn't matter and they'll be able
to work something out. A not too many guys his
height who have had much success in the NFL. Is
that not a thing anymore? Or or he can overcome
that well. I mean, I think some teams are gonna
pull him off the board because he's not tall enough.
Like there's some teams to have those metrics where they
(01:50:32):
won't take a quarterback that is below the six foot mark.
But I think the closest count that you can have
for him is Russell Wilson. Russell Wilson is five ten
and some change. Kyler Murray will probably come in a
little under five ten. But when you look at Kyler Murray,
I think when you're an undersized quarterback or quarterback that
doesn't necessarily check off all the boxes when it comes
(01:50:52):
to side, you have to be exceptional in some area.
He's an exceptional athlete. He has eight plus on talent,
gives a guy who can wire you with the ball
in his hand. I just believe the way the game
is trending with these creative offensive coordinators. And remember Cliff
Kingsbury is the guy who had raved about Kyler Murray
in October before he was fired from Jackson Tech and
(01:51:14):
landed in the league. I'm just saying that I think
there are a couple of teams that believe this guy
has big time talent and they're going to be willing
to ignore the high deficiencies to try and take advantage
of the electricity that he brings as a quarterback. Inci couple,
we are joined by FS one NFL analysts Bucky Brooks
Bucky fifteen years ago, ten years ago, even you know,
(01:51:37):
Kyler Murray might not have been viewed as a good
NFL prospect, But the way that the game has changed,
I agree with you. I think his game really fits
the way the NFL is kind of going. Why has
the NFL shifted the way it has. I think we
see more creativity in the National Football League. You see
(01:51:59):
him more of the collegiate type schemes and tactics kind
of coming to the league. And when that stuff happened,
I think he just makes it very, very easy to
look at the Cali Murray and say, you know what,
I think Cali Murray can play in this style offense. Now,
what you have to determine is Calor Murray has been
a one year starter. He doesn't have a lot of
experience at the position. Where do you fit him, where
(01:52:21):
do you slat him? I think there's just so many
creative offensive minds and so many young guys that are
excited about doing some of the RPOs and some of
the other stuff that we see on Saturday that Calin
Murray is going to be too enticing to pass up on.
I just think it's the right time. It's the perfect
storm the league is training offensive. I think he is
(01:52:41):
a guy that can give an offensive coordinator a lot
of things to add to his offense. You like, how
surprised are you that Kareem hump was picked up by
the Browns even though he's still on the example list
and has a suspension for coming from the league. Not
surprised at all. Didn't surprise me one eye that I
expected him to get picked up. I knew after time
(01:53:03):
would pass that some team would be willing to kind
of talk themselves into saying, ay, look, we can excuse
the character, we can find a way to rehab him
and the like. And I think with John Dorsey found
a willing partner because John Dorsey was the guy that
drafted him, and so people would talk about it and
wonder how could they make this move? But I think
John Dorsey is confident that he won't have any other
(01:53:26):
situations and he's willing to kind of put his neck
on the line for it. And so we'll just see.
But remember John Dorsey took Tyrek Hill when joy Rakhel
had some issues. Gyrikhil hasn't had another misstep again in
the city. So maybe this is a risk of warplay
by the Cleveland Browns to see if they can kind
of find pro bowl running back Dad to the roster
(01:53:46):
at really a minimum cost. Do you know much about
Kareem Hunt, his character or what type of kind of
person is you know, outside of that incident obviously, No,
I didn't know much about it, but I did hear
from Scotton there were some issues they were a little
concerned about prior to his draft. But I think the
big thing is he has to show people that he
(01:54:08):
can take care of himself away from the field. He
has to be in a situation where he has to
understand like no more strikes, Like if he messes up,
you have to be able to part ways with him.
The thing that you wonder, I think he's from that
Cleveland area. Yeah, maybe they felt like they could slide
them in with minimal fair fare and disruption because he's
(01:54:31):
a hometown, he wrote, and we'll see, we'll see how
their places. Sometimes Bucky being at home isn't always the
best thing. No, No, it's not always the best thing,
you know, and I think many players, which are you,
it's tough to get away from the crew. The thing
that I would wonder about it, I think, you know,
they said they get an ex sense to the vestigation
(01:54:52):
or whatever. Who are the people that are in his
crew and what kind of influence do they have on him? Obviously,
when you look at the video, they didn't have the
ability to kind of put them away from the situation.
They didn't seem like they could control him nor manage
his anger. So I think all those things needed to
be vetted out before they made the decisions. But obviously
John Dorston and Cleveland Brown feel good about the information
(01:55:15):
they got and they're willing to take the public backlash
that comes along with Kakim based on the things that
we saw on the video. Bucky, did you watch any
of the Alliance of American Football games, and even if
you haven't, what you've heard about it, what are your
thoughts on that and their debut weekend? You know, I
(01:55:35):
looked at it and I actually thought it was a
solid product. I think the thing that everyone around football
wants is a way to replicate what they had when
NFL Europe existed teams, coaches, executives. They want to a
place where they can develop their players in the off season,
particularly offensive alignment and quarterbacks. The Alliance League gives those
(01:55:57):
guys an opportunity to get live game ups, to really develop,
get better at their craft, and give themselves an opportunity
to maybe playing longer in the National Football League. I
think it's a great team because it develops not only
the players on the field, but the coaches on the sideline.
You have some young coaches that are get an opportunity
to maybe send the coordinative positions to produt themselves to
(01:56:19):
go into the league. And then the officials. We are
at a crisis when it comes to the officiating in
the National Football League. You don't have enough officials. When
you have all these guys retiring now, as you can
put them in accelerated plan to get officials ready to
really officiate at National Football League level. This is a
win win for all of the parties involved. Bucky, real quick,
(01:56:40):
you got thirty seconds. I'm not a agist, but are
some of the officials too old or do they need
to get some younger guys who could keep up with
the players I keep wondering about that. Like I just
sometimes I think that the referees don't match the players.
I think there's something to be said for that. I mean, Rob, like,
(01:57:00):
it's tough. The game is moving together, yes, a million
miles an hour, and it's hard for those guys to
keep up. And so you do want to get some
younger guys in there. But when you're transitioning in some
of the young officials, you have to be willing to
live with the mistakes, and I think the public has
to be a little more tolerant and on the mistakes
that may happen. There's the human element when it comes
(01:57:21):
to officiate these games. There are going to be some
areas that occur, and we have to say to that
as part of the game. All right, Brooks, we appreciate it. Man,
the knowledge. Hey, thanks for much, guys, thank you. All right.
It's the hottest radio game show in the country. Man,
I've won the last three. I think I think you're wrong.
(01:57:41):

two have been covering sports for nearly three decades, apiece.
I will say this. Let's put the big j journalists
to the test. Its sources say, all right, sources say,
we do this every single Monday here in the y
couple of Fox Sports Radio. It's when we put Chris
and Rob's one hundred and twenty eight years of journalism
experience to the test by helping them decide which stories
(01:59:31):
are true which stories are fake. So let's get started.
Story number one, gentleman, My sources say that Lawrence A. Koya,
a defensive lineman for the Birmingham Iron of the aa
F Robin No you know what that is, was arrested
last week on prostitution prostitution solicitation charges. Chris and my
(01:59:54):
source is good. Oh, I'm gonna say that is false.
I agree. I think they got some stipulation in that
league about conduct or something that I forgot. I'm gonna say, yeah,
I think so. I think it's false. What no stipulation.
(02:00:16):
I thought there was some stipulation about character. They very
well could have. This stipulation doesn't mean the guy wasn't
popped for trying to get himself a hooker. Wow, but
did he play? Did he play someday? Oh? He didn't play,
but he was arrested. Story number two. My sources say
that earlier this week, former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson
(02:00:36):
was photographed smoking a joint measuring over one foot long.
Robin Good, I say that's false Tyson. I'm gonna say true. Oh,
I never saw Tyson. You know what I mean? Have
you ever heard that? I've never seen that. Let's just
(02:00:57):
say it doesn't surprise me. That's all I'm saying. I
like Mike, Mike. We're cool, We're good. I'm just saying.
Sources say the couple Husky Radio always a big dude.
He got a big old hand a husky. Yeah. Speaking
of weed, my sources say that former Laker lamar Odom
(02:01:19):
has developed his own disposable CBD oil vape pen, and
it's so popular that it's already sold out everywhere. Rober
my source is good. False fake. I'm gonna say, rob
gez playing the game. When this somebody, some athlete has
(02:01:40):
done it, but not lamar Odom. So I'm gonna say false. O.
What I'm beating my was my gut was telling me yes,
because we all know lamar Odom loves weed. Going back,
story number four, gentlemen, my sources say that former Notre
Dames star and new UCF quarterback Brandon Wimbush had to
(02:02:03):
get a restraining order on the woman after she badgered
him for two weeks begging him to date her daughter. Chris,
and my source is good. I think that's true. I'm
gonna say false. Oh I was up too. It's tie
now one one. Come on, man, this is this is
my game. Little rally going here, the I couple, sources say,
(02:02:25):
Fox Sports Radio. Story number five, My sources say that
former Braves and Dodgers first baseman James Loney needs Tommy
John surgery after he tore his ace UCL and his
debut outing as a pitcher for an independent league baseball team.
Robin was, source is good, that's true, Little Chris, he's
(02:02:45):
trying to like gauge. He answered that so quickly, and
I know he follows base False. You sit on a
boy who follows baseball. I love the let's go. Then
you got time for one more? I don't know, I
