Speaker 5 (01:12):
We got about that.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
We got a lot to do on this TV theme
song Thursday, tyschre Tower coming up in our number three.
But yes, we do have the news of the new
American League MVP and I was right.

Speaker 6 (01:32):
I told you, Rob Sterling Junior, come on back, Rob Parker,
Rob Parker.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
I A and if nothing else I know about baseball,
If nothing else on this planet.

Speaker 5 (01:47):
I've been covering baseball.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
MANTI.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
Next year will be my fortieth year, not like periphial.
Wow freaking years of covering Major League baseball.

Speaker 5 (01:58):
Oh god, oh god, that's right.

Speaker 7 (02:01):
And Manzi, congratulations to you as the details, Manzi.

Speaker 4 (02:06):
And to Aaron Judge.

Speaker 7 (02:08):
Yeah, Aaron Judge just announced not long ago that he
has won his second consecutive AL MVP. He received seventeen
of the thirty first place votes.

Speaker 8 (02:19):
Wo.

Speaker 7 (02:20):
This is a third MVP, thirteenth player to win three MVPs.
Cal Rawly obviously split the other first place votes, SoSE
Ramirez did not get any first or second place votes.
He got only third place vote, So seventeen out of.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
Thirty, seventeen out of thirty. And Manzi, you stay on
this with the Dodgers and baseball.

Speaker 5 (02:39):
You know that.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
And all I'm gonna say here, Kelvin is there was
a tug of war to me between if you don't
vote Judge, all of those numbers you talk about ops
and war and all of those become null and Voyd,

(03:02):
what what do we do?

Speaker 4 (03:03):
You see my point?

Speaker 3 (03:04):
Like, I get what Kyle Raley did, and he had
a great year and he's a catcher. His sixty on
runs to me, if Kyle Roley beat Aaron Judges home
run record for AL, he would have wanted to award.

Speaker 6 (03:15):
See but that's okay you say that, and I hear you,
But then that means just one home runner.

Speaker 5 (03:20):
I guess in this cave that had been two to
beat to.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
Beat him, I'm just saying that would have given him.

Speaker 5 (03:23):
But at least but that doesn't that take away from
what you're just saying.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
No, because he has something that no one's ever done.
When you talk about for a catcher that's not having
the all time record for home runs in the league,
that that's pretty significant. I know it sounds for two
for two home runs, but Kelvin, it's not just the
two Aaron Judges numbers were so ridiculous.

Speaker 5 (03:47):
No, I don't disagree. That was when we set up here.

Speaker 6 (03:50):
You know, well, shoot the little bit of last season
when I was started the show, and now all this
season you and I both have talked about to me,
and I know you because you echo what makes him
special him being judged is the fact that he's not
just a power hitter where you are, for instance, Kyle Rodley,
he batt in two forty two, but man, he's got
sixty home runs. You're talking about a guy six foot

(04:11):
seven hitting fifty something home runs sixty some home runs
depending on the year, you know what I mean, it's
been remarkable. And then batting three thirty one, it's remarkable
what he's able to do. And they were at the
end of the ceremony, they kind of were just kind
of going over the big facts like Aaron Judge three
time winn are only people to do this? And Yankee

(04:32):
named a couple of Yankees. Then they go to show Hey,
four time only person doing more with Barry Box. We
are in the middle of something extraordinarily seeing some.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Of the players who ever played in Major League Baseball,
Like we're not.

Speaker 6 (04:46):
Normal and what we're seeing from Show Hey and Aaron Judge,
I mean, it is just remarkable what they're doing. And
a sport that's been around so long, in a sport
that treasures his stats, and a sport that travels his numbers,
and it's been incredible. And Aaron Judge too, was also
was credit. He's doing it at a little bit of
a later age. He's not old now, but he didn't
come up young. He didn't come Yeah, he's doing this

(05:08):
in both and Otani as well doing this, and they're
both of them doing it as some spectacular rate numbers
in her age too, So.

Speaker 5 (05:14):
Kudos to him. I thought they would go cal Raley
just for again, for what he did.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
He's not the only I mean, you know, and it
wasn't a runaway, you know what I mean?

Speaker 5 (05:23):
It was thirteen.

Speaker 7 (05:24):
Yeah, exactly, so he Judge got seventeen of the thirty
first place votes and the other thirteen went to calral right, so.

Speaker 5 (05:31):
It votes away from being a tie.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
Yeah, yeah, it was close. Manti, Who did you have
going in?

Speaker 5 (05:35):
Did you?

Speaker 4 (05:36):
It's a good thing I don't vote.

Speaker 7 (05:37):
I probably would have voted for cal Rawly, but for
sentimental reasons, not for the reasons that you probably should vote.
It's nice to see that Aaron Judge one.

Speaker 5 (05:45):
Because you hate voter fatigue.

Speaker 4 (05:47):
We literally saw that with Nicola Jokic, and we're not
long ago, and we saw that Lamar Jock.

Speaker 5 (05:53):
We see it, who had the best year ever had right?

Speaker 8 (05:56):
Right?

Speaker 5 (05:56):
And so you see this.

Speaker 7 (05:58):
So it's nice that it wasn't voter fatigue, you know,
like Judge absolutely deserved it. It's just, man, Cal, you
just went up.

Speaker 6 (06:06):
Against and I think that was and a great point
at the end there MONTI yeah, I do think again, that's.

Speaker 4 (06:12):
Why any other year he's an MVP wit.

Speaker 5 (06:15):
Without a doubt.

Speaker 6 (06:16):
And I think and I think this reverse it any
other if it was seventeen cal Riley thirteen, any other
this is another MVP for Aaron Judge. And I think again,
both of them did such astronomical things. Were you looking
at the guy obliterating the Catcher Homer record, obliterating a
French you know, beating a franchise record, Saint franchise that
had one time King Griffy Junior an ounce Roriguez, you

(06:39):
know you're the guy, and now with his number. So
it was that close, and this is what happens when
you're dealing with greatness. Show Hates to me was a
little more of an easy walkaway, which is why it
was unanimous. But between those two it was it could
have gone either way. And we can be sitting here going, man,
what Aaron Judge did was crazy. How could he have
lost that, you know what I mean, like, how could
he have lost that? Numbers are crazy? What he's doing,

(07:02):
it's not it's not normal. They brought it up at
the end with and they said not only the m
vps with the batting title, and they said, now you're
officially the biggest human ever have you know?

Speaker 3 (07:12):
And the other number that I saw And this is
the last thing, and we'll get because I want to
talk about John Gruden and this conversation about Thursday Night
Football is about to kick off.

Speaker 5 (07:20):
We'll do that.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
The last thing.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
Aaron Judge, who had fifty three home runs now has
the most home runs for anybody who want a batting title,
Like nobody in the history of baseball ever hit that
many home runs and also won a batting title.

Speaker 5 (07:33):
Those those are the numbers are incredible.

Speaker 6 (07:36):
So yeah, I definitely can't there's no there's no hating
and yeah, yeah, nobody there is.

Speaker 5 (07:42):
This was you know, I'm not an Aaron you know that.

Speaker 6 (07:45):
It's just I yeah, I thought this vote would be
one of those where they're just like, oh man and
from a franchise. And this goes to Manzi's point. When
you're and you have a Hall of Fame vote. So
I have seen this MVP, but just when voting, it's
not everybody thinks like it's even know what a goert
example boxing match, some people will watch the same fight.

Speaker 5 (08:05):
And I'm not talking.

Speaker 6 (08:06):
About some judges where we're a little concerned like with
something paid off here. I'm talking about some people just
like the active guy right, man, Hey, look he was
just active. He was fighting the whole time he was
in it. Some people like the more accurate guy.

Speaker 4 (08:18):
Man, look at this guy.

Speaker 6 (08:20):
He might not threw, but he was whe And so
sometimes it's just that closely that it does come down
to what is your flavor of, you know, of whatever
the thing is. Is it more the storyline? Is it
more that I didn't see this coming? Is it more
of the show Hay or the Aaron Judge where man,
these dudes are doing it year in year, year in year,
year in year.

Speaker 5 (08:38):
Out of performing and performing.

Speaker 6 (08:40):
So to me, you know, that's what makes a challenging
when you're getting this close what ends up being the
flavor for that particular voter? And I again, you being
good for Hall of Fame voter. Some guys, man, you
you I like your stance? Hey, if you don't get
in the first time. Why am I changing it?

Speaker 4 (08:55):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (08:57):
Right, And some people say, Man, the more I think
about somebody brought up a great point.

Speaker 5 (09:02):
I didn't think.

Speaker 6 (09:03):
I read an article and some people are like you, like,
what change your career ended?

Speaker 5 (09:08):
You didn't play, You haven't played in twenty years? What
has changed? Right? All right?

Speaker 2 (09:12):
Hey?

Speaker 3 (09:13):
Eight seven seven ninety nine On Fox we went through
out the number because John Gruden had an interesting thing
comment coming. I don't know if this is going to
help him get back as an NFL coach, saying that
they should scrap Thursday Night Football, which is a moneymaker
for the league. But let's hear John Gruden on Thursday
Night football, which is about to kickoff in New England.

Speaker 9 (09:32):
Let's start with Thursday night football.

Speaker 5 (09:34):
Man, what a treat.

Speaker 9 (09:36):
It is no preparation, no time to recover, no chance
get rid of these.

Speaker 5 (09:43):
Thursday night games. Jump them.

Speaker 9 (09:45):
It's not fair to the players, it's not fair to
the coaches who goes out and tries to perform at
a high level with no preparation.

Speaker 5 (09:54):
Dump these games. Where are you?

Speaker 6 (09:57):
Kelvin Man, I've been I've been wonning to be dumped
for up until maybe the last couple of years, most
of the games were blowouts or most of them were
just Remember, we were getting bad teams.

Speaker 5 (10:08):
It was Jags versus whoever.

Speaker 6 (10:09):
It was Jags and Panthers and Jags who in the next.

Speaker 5 (10:12):
Team, And they were bad games, and they weren't great.

Speaker 6 (10:14):
And you talk about you start to read into with
some of the players of acknowledge and that, and even
John Gruden he went a little further talking about why
he doesn't like it. You're just getting a bad product.
Football is brutal. It is a brutal sport. And if
I just played on Sunday night or Sunday, you know,
and I had a bad, brutal game, beaten batter. Now
I gotta travel across the country. We lose some couple

(10:37):
of days. The rest we're trying to scramble and readjust
our normal programming regiment.

Speaker 5 (10:41):
Now we're scrambling trying to this. You're gonna get a
bad product.

Speaker 6 (10:44):
If it's another team that didn't have to play honey,
or maybe they just were, you know, more locked in,
you're not getting the high quality football and the best
version of it. You got to think about it. They're
playing on a Thursday when normally they were playing another
three days later on three hole and maybe four if
it was a Monday night game. So you're not getting
the best product, and it's just and oftentimes we leave

(11:06):
dissatisfied watching it.

Speaker 5 (11:08):
So I'm just not a fan.

Speaker 6 (11:09):
I like when we get towards a little bit later
in the season, we started to get those Saturday games
right on.

Speaker 4 (11:14):
The college football season.

Speaker 6 (11:15):
Yeah, I like some of those, Like, Okay, you know,
I got some big time games on a weekend.

Speaker 5 (11:20):
I'm locked in.

Speaker 6 (11:21):
Maybe you and the homies go watch it somewhere Thursday night.
I just don't feel like it now, I'm saying all this.
When I looked up the numbers, the argument would be well,
through the halfway point of this season, Thursday night football
is averaging approximately fourteen point ninety five so, which is
rounded up to fifteen million view viewers, which is a
six percent increase from.

Speaker 5 (11:41):
The prior year.

Speaker 6 (11:42):
So you know, it's kind of hard to argue people
still want it. I just don't think they're getting the
best quality, And I personally am just not a fan.
We got Sunday, Sunday Night, Monday, and then you know,
washed Retz Repeto on the weekend. I think that's best.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
I'm with you, and I'm with John Gruden. I can't
believe I'm saying that you don't have to check my emails.
But my point is this that it is an awful
short week. There were a lot of bad Thursday night games.
The recovery. I just don't think it really is necessary.
I get it, they want to make another day to

(12:19):
make it marquee so that they can potentially get more
money out of it. If it's a regular game mixed
in with the other Sunday games, it's just a regional broadcast,
do you know what I mean? So when you put
it on here Thursday night, it becomes something that Prime
wants to pay top dollar for. And that's why it's
not going away. It's just not going to go away

(12:41):
as long as someone's willing to spend money for it.
And it's a shame, I don't think. But that's again
I blame the players and the Players Association because they're
the ones who's signing off on this. They're the ones
who players are getting beat up and having these issues,
and you know, they decided that they wanted to smoke.
We didn't have less practices or whatever it was, that

(13:02):
was part of the deal that they got for giving into,
you know, giving into a Thursday night game where they
could have said.

Speaker 5 (13:10):
Can we get a week for our bodies to heal? List?
Can you can you give us a week? I don't
think we're far away from a Wednesday game.

Speaker 6 (13:17):
And I say that, and I'm kind of serious because
think about this, if I would have told you the
amount of international games we would have had five, ten
to fifteen.

Speaker 5 (13:25):
Some money grabbed.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
They're making a fly all the way across the making
fly to Brazil, fly over here. They played on terrible
fields that weren't even NFL standard.

Speaker 6 (13:36):
Exactly for the second money. And so when you start
to look a little deeper into these Thursday night games.
So you mentioned a great point there. You just talked about, uh,
the fact that you know they can't do Thursday in
games because of of course the Friday, I should say
Friday and Saturday high school football, college football.

Speaker 5 (13:52):
There's a you know, back in the sixes.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
There's no actual law for that that they they were
challenging that Black Friday game on Amazon, right.

Speaker 6 (14:02):
So it's the Sports Broadcasting Act of nineteen sixty one
and prohibits the NFL from broadcasting games on Fridays and Saturdays, dude,
from mid September to mid December to protect the you know,
to to still have that high school football love envivent.

Speaker 3 (14:15):
And then because high school it was Friday, college Saturday
and the NFL was Sunday.

Speaker 6 (14:19):
And so you're right about that. So and the other
thing about it you brought, I mean, listen, it's a
lucrative it's money. I mean, it's current deal they have
right now with Amazon Prime. You're looking at a it's
a billion dollar annual deal, all right.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
But that's what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
Because of that, that's why it's not going to go anywhere.
Because they make too much money. They're not going to
throw this game and to make it into a Sunday game,
regular regional where only a portion of the country gets
to see it.

Speaker 4 (14:47):
Do you know what.

Speaker 5 (14:48):
There's a big difference. And you know it's funny.

Speaker 6 (14:51):
Yes, they're okay. There are people who are there parlays
and all. There are people who are into, you know,
their fantasy. But I don't feel like people hit you boys.

Speaker 5 (15:00):
Up like yo you Thursday night. I hear that from Monday. Clearly,
Sele gotta work they got stuff to do.

Speaker 6 (15:06):
I feel like Thursday like nobody's really like in the
text chat like, yo, Thursday night football is lit.

Speaker 5 (15:13):
I fit. Maybe I'm wrong, run and no one's I
don't think.

Speaker 3 (15:15):
Are you meeting somebody your buddies at a sports bar
Thursday night? Kids gotta go to school the next day?
Am I really getting away? I'm asking, I don't know,
and going and hanging out on a Thursday night.

Speaker 5 (15:26):
I just think that's that's like.

Speaker 6 (15:27):
Most people, it's on, you know it, you'll turn to it.
We're all sports fans. We love football. You'll turn to it.
But I don't feel like it gets people like Sunday
night gets you hype?

Speaker 5 (15:36):
Right, is you got the best game? You're lit? Okay?
Or your your particular team on a sun all my team.

Speaker 6 (15:40):
We'll live on the West coast, so you know it's
ten am, but maybe it's a one pm, four pm start.

Speaker 5 (15:45):
Whatever.

Speaker 6 (15:45):
Monday night is, Monday night. I feel like just Thursday
night is like, oh, it's on, let me just turn
it on. No excitement, there's no juice with Thursday Night.
Maybe maybe we're wrong.

Speaker 3 (15:53):
All right, We're wrong eight seven seven ninety nine on
Fox eight seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty night.
I might not agree with a lot of John Guten's
up stuff emails and emails and that stuff, but I'm
I'm with them on this. I really believe that Thursday
Night is bad. Kelvin agrees. Maybe we're the old sticking

(16:13):
the mud kind of guys. It could be, and we're
definitely well. I want to hear from you and where
you are on this. Let's hear from you eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox. It is the Odd Couple,

All right, Hans in Connecticut, You're on the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (18:19):
What's up, Hans?

Speaker 10 (18:20):
Yeah, listen, I gotta say that years ago I would
agree with you, but I think that Thursday night football
is UH is the way to go and Sunday night
is UH is way too slow, because yeah, I'm all
depressed on Sunday night. I can't stay up. I got
to go to work on Monday.

Speaker 5 (18:41):
But uh, we man, you don't have to work on Friday.

Speaker 4 (18:44):
I don't understand. Do you work on Fridays?

Speaker 5 (18:46):
What do you mean?

Speaker 10 (18:49):
Yeah, listen, listen, I work on Friday. I work on Friday,
but but Thursday night football gets me to Friday after
like three days of working hard.

Speaker 11 (18:58):
You know what I'm saying?

Speaker 12 (18:58):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (19:00):
All right, Hans, all right, he must be Hans must

night football.

Speaker 5 (19:24):
And I'm a Charger fan, but I.

Speaker 6 (19:27):
Just feel like, in my honest opinion, what.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
Contint it would be after the bide week on Sundays
and then you would go in to the Thursday night game,
so at least they have some rest in the like
ten days or something like that, right.

Speaker 5 (19:39):
But that it's the reverse. Now you played it Thursday
and you don't have to play for nine ten days.

Speaker 3 (19:45):
It's crazy, it really is. Thanks Randam, appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (19:48):

Speaker 12 (20:00):
You guys know it is on the dot. Thursday night
football is like a ten o'clock baseball game. Ain't nobody
got time for that? And we can't. We can't do that, hey, bro.
And it's hurting the players. Man get rid of it.
It seemed to me like the owners are so money

(20:20):
hungry they want an extra game, extra game, you're hurting
the product. Don't don't take it like the NBA is
right now, Well, these guys are gonna be a low management.

Speaker 11 (20:29):
Stop it.

Speaker 4 (20:30):
Thank you, my man, appreciate it.

Speaker 5 (20:32):
He's right.

Speaker 6 (20:33):
Let's go ahead, go ahead ahead or love Shan, Sean
and Sacramento.

Speaker 4 (20:39):
You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up short?

Speaker 11 (20:43):
Yeah, I'll go from another mother cousin, kill me and
my brother's mind the board, shout out to gods and
give to YouTube, Miss moncis. But really quick on this topic, man,
I was told to say that by mister Gomer and
I mind. Man, he's been on her since she appeared
on the screen. But real quick, man, Oh god, I
gotta give a kiss Flowers. Me and Andrew from Chicago.

(21:03):
We've been ripping on Hunk all year long about this
MVP vote, and.

Speaker 12 (21:07):
Rob is never wrong.

Speaker 5 (21:08):
He's just early.

Speaker 12 (21:09):
So once again, Flowers to the og, forty years in.

Speaker 11 (21:13):
The game, is still spinning facts.

Speaker 5 (21:15):
But who shod you know?

Speaker 11 (21:17):
I had to give it to you one time. I'll
give you a lot of crap, but I'll give you
a flowers too. But on this topic, man, you're absolutely wrong.
How dare you tell these players who decided to play
on Thursday just to smoke a little weed and do less.
Franks that they should give up a game. They're making
millions and millions of dollars off these TV contracts, and
what do you want to do?

Speaker 9 (21:36):
Rob?

Speaker 11 (21:37):
Take that food and money out they pockets and out
their mouth. Let these mans do what they want to do.
This is America, mister Rob Parker.

Speaker 6 (21:45):
Man, what and did you not realize we said just
play on Sunday, Sean, Sean do what I said? They
couldn't play. We just said they don't want to play
it on Thursday. I'm out here beating batter than bruised up.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
Now.

Speaker 6 (21:55):
I got to go run it back in a few
days after my game. Man cut it out, all right,
thank you, you appreciate it. We got college kids. Mark
Gunnals in the building. We'll talk to him in just
a little bit.

Speaker 4 (22:05):
Right now, you see Mookie Bats, he's shocked.

Speaker 5 (22:08):
He looks really good.

Speaker 4 (22:10):
She does Kelvin. I don't know if you could see it.

Speaker 3 (22:12):
He's on the MLB Network live from Las Vegas, and
he looks.

Speaker 7 (22:16):
He's wearing like a like a blue gray Swede looking
suit with.

Speaker 5 (22:22):
A nice bow tie.

Speaker 7 (22:23):
It's like a blue gray I'm into.

Speaker 5 (22:28):
What is that velvet shark? Yeah, velvet, you know.

Speaker 6 (22:36):
Because Mookie is one of those mantzi you know, like
he doesn't necessarily like shave his head all the time,
like not clean.

Speaker 5 (22:42):
He's just like as baseball or nothing. Yeah, that boy
looks clean.

Speaker 7 (22:46):
He's he's usually he looks like one of us a
lot is you know what I'm saying. And then right
now clean Speaking of looks, uh, did you guys see
what Aaron Judge was wearing because he looked like the
Rock in that famous black long sleeve with the trees.

Speaker 5 (23:00):
He had the same haircut. He had the same haircut.

Speaker 7 (23:02):
So now you can dress up as Aaron Judge dressing
up as Rock, that is what you can dress up as.

Speaker 5 (23:08):
Aaron Judge has won.

Speaker 7 (23:09):
His second consecutive AL MVP. He receives seventeen of the
thirty first place of votes. This is Judge's third MVP
All Rise and of course, the Unicorn has also unanimously
won the National League MVP Award for a second consecutive season.
That is Sho Heo Tani. He's only the second player
ever to win four MVPs and both MVPs had their

(23:30):
dogs with them, so they are really just like us.
Justin Fields is just like every other quarterback getting in
the end zone. He got the Jets in the end
zone first against the Patriot.

Speaker 4 (23:41):
I spect them to lose, to lose, but not twelve
by thirteen.

Speaker 5 (23:47):
That is a lot. That is a lot.

Speaker 7 (23:49):
So the Jets have the early lead against the Patriots
seven zero halfway through the first quarter. We'll check in
on the NBA one game going on right now. It's
the Raptors and the Cavaliers, and Toronto is up seventy
three to sixty one halfway through the third quarter. When
it comes to men's college Shops, there was some Top
ten action going on between Alabama and per Due, and

(24:09):
it looks like number eight Alabama is up right now
fifty nine to fifty seven with about eleven minutes to
go in the game. When it comes to the NHL,
the Maple Leaves have a two to one lead over
the Kings late in the second quarter, starts over the
Canadians four zero. Late in the second quarter, Ducks and
Red Wings are tied at one apiece. Halfway through the
second quarter. The Panthers up on the capitols right now,

(24:29):
two to one. Also halfway through the second quarter.

Speaker 5 (24:32):
Back to you guys, no.

Speaker 6 (24:34):
Doubt, thank you Monci. Yes, I'm over here googling right now.
Where can I get a velvet jacket like that?

Speaker 5 (24:39):
Moviie?

Speaker 7 (24:40):
You should?

Speaker 5 (24:40):
You should stint that color, give that.

Speaker 2 (24:43):
Color, you know.

Speaker 5 (24:44):
I like the styling profile every now and again. All right,
thank you, Monzi.

Speaker 6 (24:47):
I couple Rod and Kelvin on the TV the so
on Thursdays, Eggs and Pains where they can sneak up
on you during the holiday hustle and bustle and to
leave it can help you forget the pay to make
some happy memories instead. With just one pill, a lead
provides up to twelve hours of body pay release so
you can keep it moving.

Speaker 5 (25:02):
Use as directed. It's side now for college keys.

Speaker 2 (25:05):
It's time for the college kids here on the odd
Come a look at this week's college football through the
eyes of the young, young inexperience.

Speaker 5 (25:15):
If they swear they know college takes it into the job.

Speaker 2 (25:19):
Yeah, right, fundamentals are going to show up. Are there
takes sophomore at or graduation worthy? Robin Calvin boy side
bring them on.

Speaker 13 (25:29):
All right, that's right, it is college kids. This is
the show where we take one of Rob Parker's many,
many many mentees, put them on the seat here, and
they are going to give us Mark Gunnell's in this case,
is going to give us three takes and we are
going to decide whether they are graduation worthy or sophomoric takes.

Speaker 5 (25:48):
So what you got for us? First? Mark?

Speaker 4 (25:51):
What's up?

Speaker 6 (25:51):
Mark?

Speaker 5 (25:52):
And studio?

Speaker 6 (25:53):
You got?

Speaker 5 (25:53):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (25:54):
Man, it's good to be back. Let me tell you
and Kelvin we both agree on this. You got has
done a great job.

Speaker 4 (26:02):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (26:02):
I really appreciate that for real, for real. And one
thing on television, can you look at that camera that
looks straight?

Speaker 5 (26:07):
Don't look at it?

Speaker 4 (26:10):
See that?

Speaker 5 (26:10):
Yeah? I see it? Okay. Yeah. By the way, thank you.

Speaker 4 (26:13):
By the way, we're on TV and radio. Yeah, I
forgot you are so fancy here.

Speaker 6 (26:18):
I don't know if Mark looked more like Tim Hardaway
Junior or Jalen Brown.

Speaker 4 (26:22):
Hey, I get that all the time.

Speaker 5 (26:25):
Yeah, you get Jayalen Brown.

Speaker 8 (26:26):
I get Jalen Brown a lot because he's more relevant
now than Tim Hardaway.

Speaker 5 (26:31):
Yeah. Yeah, I told you. I can you look like you?

Speaker 6 (26:33):
Because I'm dark, scared with a beard. That's why I'm
dark skinned with a beer, but I don't got no beer.
No beer, no disrespectful to let the light. It's too
much light, right, Yeah, I'm browing it back.

Speaker 5 (26:44):
All right? What you got? Mark? All Right?

Speaker 8 (26:46):
So I'm starting here with Iowa and USC this weekend
big game in the Big ten.

Speaker 5 (26:52):
We know the Big three Oregon.

Speaker 8 (26:54):
Indiana, and Ohio State, but this is an elimination game
essentially for the playoffs. I was number twenty one. You
will see number seventeen. I love USC big in this game.
I like them to cover their favorite by six and
a half. They're undefeated at home and they won every
single game in the Coliseum by double digits, including an
eighteen point win over the Michigan Wolverines.

Speaker 5 (27:16):
Uh, this is.

Speaker 10 (27:17):
Sophomore baol back to It's cool.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
I'm sorry Ian graduated from USC. Was one of my students.
I'm sorry Ian, and I'm starry Mark. I'm just saying here,
here's like, this is that big game, right that they
really need. Lincoln Rodley doesn't win a lot of big games,
and I get it, yes they have.

Speaker 5 (27:39):
I don't know what is he.

Speaker 4 (27:39):
Gonna be cheating this week? I just want to know
what is he doing, but they should win.

Speaker 3 (27:46):
You got them winning by double digits like they blew
out like they blowed out Michigan.

Speaker 4 (27:50):
I'm not buying it. I'm gonna say that this is sophomore.

Speaker 5 (27:55):
You're graduating. I always say congratulations.

Speaker 6 (27:58):
Shut up, I say, I say you're graduating for this
one of the I do think Iowa will be around,
sticking around, make a game of it for a while,
but eventually, I just looking at I mean the numbers
offensively for usc Man, they have been potent this year.
You gotta give it to him, total offensive ranked, second
yards played, the first and I just think two Robs point,
you do have a great point. I think Lincoln Roley
finally kind of writes a ship and gets a big

(28:20):
game big. I agree with you. You had two years
of kleb but nothing to show for it. So but
I think they I think they get this one done,
so you graduate.

Speaker 5 (28:29):
Thank you. I appreciate that, all right.

Speaker 13 (28:31):
Next up, Mark has a take on TJ Ltteeth in
Nebraska quarterback.

Speaker 5 (28:35):
What you got Marek?

Speaker 8 (28:36):
Yeah, so he was originally the backup obviously behind Dylan Royola,
who's out for the season with a fibula injury, and
it was you still a So I'm not gonna go
too crazy, but if you just watch that game, his
legs made their offense look a lot more smoother than
when Dylan's out there. And you know Dylan hasn't been
playing up to the hype. You know, obviously he's the

(28:57):
Patrick Mahomes clone. So he's already put an X the
hype on himself.

Speaker 4 (29:02):
He's only in look right, but he was number.

Speaker 5 (29:05):
One quarterback out of high school.

Speaker 8 (29:06):
It's not not he was just a regular guy that
just looked like Patrick Mahomes. He was the number one
player in high school. And he's gonna have to come
back again next year, obviously after this injury. But their
last three games, if TJ. Latif still looks good, you
might have an uncomfortable conversation there in Nebraska at quarterback.

Speaker 6 (29:24):
For me, you are graduating, So I always say congratulations
because I'm telling you what.

Speaker 5 (29:30):
The last scamp of college football is different.

Speaker 8 (29:32):
Now.

Speaker 5 (29:32):
I know you know going other days, and this is
my guy. I'm gonna stick by him.

Speaker 12 (29:35):
Man.

Speaker 6 (29:36):
People are transferred, people are leaving, people are getting demoted
people And you know I'm going over here more for
a bag. I get more opportunities there, so absolutely competitions
at at all time high for any position, especially the quarterback.

Speaker 5 (29:47):
So you're graduating with that one. I think it's sucked
more to.

Speaker 6 (29:54):
No.

Speaker 4 (29:54):
Only thing is And you brought it up of where
he came from.

Speaker 3 (29:58):
He wasn't like some guy who who all of a
sudden people said, oh, he's really good or whatever.

Speaker 5 (30:03):
This guy was heavily touted.

Speaker 3 (30:05):
He lost his gig because of an injury, not because
he couldn't play or he didn't play well.

Speaker 4 (30:10):
So they're gonna give him an opportunity.

Speaker 3 (30:12):
And especially also if TJ has a bad game or so,
they'll be looking to move right back off him. I
get it, he's playing well. Now bad game to'll be like,
where's our other guy? When does he get back?

Speaker 5 (30:23):
You know? So I'm not buying it all right.

Speaker 13 (30:27):
And Mark's last take here has to do with the
wide receiver factory up at Ohio State.

Speaker 5 (30:32):
RU got Mark.

Speaker 8 (30:33):
Yes, So Jeremiah Smith, you guys know the name. Obviously
I have a hot take. Maybe he's not even high.
We'll see what you guys think. I think he would
be a better NFL player than JSN and Emeca, who
have been killing it in the NFL this year, right,
but look at it as a freshman. Neither one of
those guys are even in the rotation at Ohio State.

(30:54):
Last year is a freshman, Smith had thirteen hundred yards
and fifteen touchdowns. Right now he has ten touchdowns and
well on his way to another thousand yard season.

Speaker 5 (31:04):
And he's six'.

Speaker 8 (31:05):
Four both those guys are six foot six foot. One
this guy's a. Baby Julio, jones you are graduating from,
College always say.

Speaker 5 (31:14):
Congratulations shut. Up the size is.

Speaker 4 (31:17):
Impressive the nomber hold up are.

Speaker 3 (31:20):
Impressive, alice you have to hold up every TIME i say.

Speaker 5 (31:25):
Something he records.

Speaker 6 (31:26):
You, yeah we let you go. Today we've been pretty,
good but that one was a little. CRAZY i can't Lie.

Speaker 4 (31:30):
I'm talking About he's six,' four That's what i'm talking.

Speaker 3 (31:33):
About anyway uh and his number is impressive in the.
Freshman YEAR so i this it looks like the sky's.

Speaker 5 (31:40):
The limit you're finally sticking around college, another. Year buddy.

Speaker 6 (31:46):
Now here's the Thing, you ultimately the biggest conversation, is
more even more, than him Is To. Ohio state what
the heck are they breeding? Over there THEY got i
mean THEM and lsu are.

Speaker 5 (31:56):
Competing for wide.

Speaker 6 (31:57):
Receiver Factory but i'm gonna go AS n i think,
THE speed i THINK the i think currently the way
his offense is set, UP like i think he's gonna
have a nice three to five year run and put up.
Some numbers and also when you're talking about, THIS too
i look At Uh Marvin. HARRISON jr i mean he
looked Alike Like jeremiah smith. As well he's not having

(32:18):
the greatest start to, the career, you know last couple of,
you know season and. A half so just because you're
the bigger guy doesn't necessarily translate.

Speaker 4 (32:27):
He's just Mad because i'm six four And he's kelvin's tall.

Speaker 6 (32:31):
Like that don't do me like that, Street, see no
don't do, don't rob Don't. Rob, gimi okay size is.
In process you Know what.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
