(00:22):
R All. Yeah, that's right, folks, it is The Odd
Couple that I'm Chris Bruce Hard alongside my partner Rob Parker,
(00:43):
and we are coming to you live from the Fox
Sports Radio studios. And I am hyped. I hope you
are as hyped to have me back as I am
to be back. Why you gotta feel like that? Oh?
I hope you want me back? Right? Could you want
vacation for two weeks with your feet kicked up? It
(01:06):
was snowing here, man, what you're talking about? My feet
kicked up? You could have been off. You chose to work.
You wanted some guys you could beat down for about
two weeks, get your confidence back up, and all of that.
You were working them down like like like Tyson in
his prime. It was tomat them cans. It was for
(01:30):
our listeners to keep the Odd Couple together so that
people didn't have to go like totally find something else
or you know, be like, oh Christen Robert both off,
you know what I mean. So they got a chance
to listen to the Odd Couple during the holidays and
a lot of people appreciate it. So it was great.
It was great. Great to have you back though after vacation.
(01:51):
I'm sure it went well. Two weeks is a long
time to be off. Yeah, off one radio. It is Chris,
you know what I mean. But it happens once in
a while. I've been looking for tickets to Australia for
next Christmas, but it won't be too probably have right
I have, Well, mister w to make that type of
travel at that point. Yeah, but that's what you got
(02:12):
my Christmas gift. Today. I finally got it, and you
know what we're on the I'm gonna put hold it
up real quick because for the people who are watching us. Yes,
I hooked Ry Parker up and I put a lot
of thought. These are the sweet because that look at
the colors. These are the colors when we christ and
I both Nets World and the Nets had these colors. Yeah,
(02:38):
that light blue and ye. But that's why I thought
it was the colors that the nets had when you
covered them. I know now they wear black. And that
was your pick to win it all. Yes, that was
it too, so I put on. But the mail is
so crazy. They just came Chrish, you paid for two
day postage on on on the fifteen. No, it was
(02:59):
the fifteenth, and it was supposed to be delivered on
the eighteenth, And I got it today January. What's today
the third? I'm going to the post office tomorrow, get
your money back at my nine dollars back. You know what?
You know I would I delivered it two days. I
know you would. All right, Well, let's introduce the Eye
(03:20):
Couple crew and get rolling. We got a lot like
actually we got a few guys off super producer Rob
Ge and DJ Alex Tyshon. So we got Iowa Sam
on the ones and the two gas to have my
homeboy Sam on here yes and with you yes. And
then we got Ryan our man Ryan filling in for
(03:43):
Rob Ge doing a great job as the producer, and
on the updates Brian hey Finley. So that's the Eye
Couple crew. Let's get it rolling, Rob It's look, everybody's
been talking about it and we need to put in
our two cents to Philadelphia has a chance to beat
(04:05):
Washington last night in the primetime game, the Sunday night game,
the season finale for the regular season, and Doug Peterson
in the fourth quarter goes to third string quarterback Nate
Sudfield and takes out Jalen Hurts, and Peterson has been
(04:29):
crushed roundly, players, coaches, executives up. Most of it anonymous,
but a lot of it not anonymous. Obviously in the
media been getting slammed, people saying he, you know, robbed
the game of its integrity, and he lied, He said
he was playing to win, yet he benches Jalen Hurts
(04:52):
and just he was sticking it to the Giants. You
saw giants, even Eli Manning, the former Giant, eating about
how Philadelphia just hates the Giants and that's why they
did it. All sorts of criticisms of Doug Peterson and
the Philadelphia Eagles. Rob Parker, I want to get your viewpoint.
(05:12):
Where do you stand on this? I stand behind Doug
Peterson and the Philadelphia Eagles. What stop the noise, Stop
the noise, stop the nonsense. You know what it kills me?
You mean you mean to tell me that everybody didn't
(05:33):
have their panties in the bunch. When the Steelers decided
to sit Ben Roethlisberger and and all those other players
for Pittsburgh when there were five teams vying for a
playoff spot, and that gave the Browns an advantage. Everybody
brought into that that it was okay for them to
rest their guys. And if I'm Doug Peterson, what he did?
(05:53):
He did two things, Chris, You know, no, he did
three things. Number One, he made choice team was gonna
get a better draft pick. That's fine. Number Two, screw
the Giants. You don't need help from us. Win your
own damn games, and you don't need help. Why should
the Philadelphia Eagles give a rats ass about the New
(06:15):
York freaking Giants. You win your own game, don't ask
for any help. And number three, I love the idea.
You can't ask your players to lay down to preserve
the pick. Right. You can't ask Jalen Hurts not to
play well or anybody else. What you do when you
put in the other guys a lesser competition and just
(06:39):
let them play. If they win the game, then tip
your cap and you help the Giants if they don't. Oh, well,
what he did was above board. Rather than asking somebody
to play down or stand down, put Jalen Hurts in
and go, you know, we really need that pig. You
don't need to play that great. You would never say
that to a guy. So rather than do that, you
(07:02):
put in a lesser player and if he excels, Chris,
tip your cap. You're not gonna tell the kid not
to play, but if he doesn't and it benefits the
organization long term. Come on, man, everybody's gotten it wrong.
The Eagles and Doug Peterson they did it right. I
(07:23):
love what they did. And screw the Giants. All those
giants belly yakin as if they deserve to win the
division with a six and ten record or whatever it
would have been like. They got cheated. No, you cheated
the game. You cheated the NFL thinking you were gonna
get a free pass to the playoffs because the Eagles
(07:46):
had to help them the Eagles. Hell no, Giants. I'm
fired up, Chris. Why I'm telling you, Doug Peterson Coach
of the Year, stop it enough enough enough now? Wow,
you shocked me. You shocked me, Rob Parker, and I'm
(08:08):
I'm gonna say this. I do agree with you on
a few things because it sounds like you're saying, but
your whole premise is that this was about the pick. Yeah, okay,
but but not to compromise the players. No, right, right,
that's where Look, they they get the sixth pick. They
(08:32):
had they would have gotten the ninth pick had they won.
I don't think it was about the pick. I'm just saying, right,
So if that's your take. But and you're right, if
you're going to try, if you want to lose a game,
are you listening to New York Jets? Right? If I'm
gonna lose a game, you're not going You never tell
(08:54):
your players go out there and don't play well. You
just played the guys that aren't as good, and you
know they play their best, but they lose. That's how
you do it. So I'm with you there, But I
where I disagree. I don't think this was about the pick. Now.
I also agree with you on this, Rob. They don't
(09:15):
know the Giants are daring vibe No, so giants shut up.
I mean, seriously, they weren't thinking about you. When you
think they like uh Washington more than you, revision if
they like Dallas more than you. Come on, they're all rivals.
(09:35):
Get over yourself. You're not that important, all right. This
wasn't about sticking it to you. And like Rob said,
if you want to make the playoffs, how about you
win more than six games? Yeah? How that all right?
You imagine Chris a team with six wins bellyaching that
another team didn't win exactly, Just stop it. That's weak.
(09:57):
I like the Giants had a nice into the season.
I like the young kid, Joe Judge's coach, So I'm
fine with that, but stop. This is beneath you. This
had nothing to do with you. Here's Rob where I
disagree with Doug Peterson and all those that are it's
the integrity of the game. I'm not I'm not with
that that Doug Peterson and the Eagles had the right
(10:19):
to do what they did. And I think, look, uh,
big Ben is thirty what thirty eight years old? He
was banging up, They had played a bunch of games,
you know, no break, So I do think it's different
than resting him. It did affect the playoffs because obviously,
if if they had beaten the Browns with Big Ben,
(10:41):
the blem made it, right. I see why you know
that you can understand more why they he really needed
a rest for the playoffs. I get that. I would
get it if the Jets trying, you know, had been
in the race for the number one pick and they
decided to sit some guys. Here's my problem with it.
I just think Rob it was a dumb move. I
(11:02):
think it was a horrible decision. Not because of the
integrity and game, not because of the Giants, but because
you who's your quarterback? We don't know you got Carson
Wentz upset, supposedly reportedly upset with Doug Peterson. He may
ask for a trade. That's what the reports are saying.
(11:23):
What are you gonna try to work it out with him?
Is he your guy? I need to know more about
Jalen Hurts. I'm not sold on. I like what I see.
I think he looks a lot like a Dak Prescott.
You know he's got. I like the intangibles he's I
think he's a winner. I think he's a leader of men.
I think he throws it well enough and will get better.
(11:45):
He obviously can make play. He's not you know Mahomes
or Aaron Rodgers, but he throws it well enough. He
can make plays. With his legs. I think he's a
leader and a winner, but I would have loved Rob
to see him in that position. Big. I know you
don't have anything to play for, but big game, playoff
implications for the opponent. What do you do? Let's see
(12:10):
and so I wanted to see Hurts in that position.
I think Peterson thought about it like this, Rob, we
got nothing to play for seasons over for US. Nate
Sudfeld has been a great soldier for several years. I
want to get him some reps. And if you were
getting crushed or crushing Washington, I would have been with that.
(12:32):
But you had a chance to win, and I want
to see Hurts in that position. He ran for two
to others. He wasn't throwing it great, but he ran
for two touchdowns. He was making plays. You had a
chance to tie it with the field goal, and you
went for the touchdown. I think again, not to throw
the game. I think Peterson's thinking, Hey, it doesn't matter
(12:54):
if we win or lose. Let me try to go
for it on fourth. But it was a bad decision.
Kick the field goal. See what Hurts does in the
fourth quarter, And I think Rob, the players that did play,
they they you owe them a chance to win the game,
and you threw in the third stringer, which you did.
(13:16):
You know, of course you're probably hoping he pulls it out,
but you're throwing the you're throwing the towel, and I
don't think you. I think you owed it to the
guys that played it. Rob. I think I don't know.
I'm not saying this is the case, but you can
risk losing your locker room with the move like that. Yeah,
(13:37):
I'm not so sure about that. I think they understand
it and what it's explained. You think Hurts understood it.
I think the good guy's not gonna say anything. But
that's a lost season. That win or whatever. It's better
for the organization, and it's not compromising the players. It's
not asking Hurts not to do this or that. That's
(13:57):
the only thing you could have a two way if
you found out that he told Jalen Hurts Chris to
play down you can't or whatever you can't do, that
would lose. I wouldn't have respect for a coach like
that who's telling the guy to to don't throw a
touchdown or throw a pick or we know what I mean.
Don't you even play Hurts though, if you, if you,
I mean, I don't like. This is not c y o, Rob,
(14:21):
This is not you know, uh high JV. High school football?
Where Oh he's been you know he works hard in practice.
Let me get him some you know, run in in
the last game of the season. No, he's getting his money.
He's getting paid. That's enough. You know who's sick over it? Right?
Martin White's had a ticket in vase for the Giants
(14:43):
to win the division. Oh my god. He was saying,
how much would do you know how much you would
have won? I think it close to a thousand dollars?
Was not happy? Ridiculous? Wow, I know all right, eight
seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven Chris
Yeah at nine nine eight seven seven nine nine sixty
three sixty nine. You're turned away in with Chris and
(15:04):
Rob the eye couple. Give us your opinion. Do you
have a problem with what the Eagles did last night?
Throwing in Nate Sudfeld for Jalen Hurts? Are you join
the taker calls next, join me, you know me pick
a side man out to see Hurts. Now, I'm still
questioning this hurts my guy. If he had come in
(15:25):
that fourth quarter played great. Let him to victory. I'm
feeling a lot better going into the offseason with Wentz
wanting out. I got my guy, so we'll trade you,
all right? Eight seven, seven ninety nine. Fix You're turned

to hear from you. Uh. Rob had a distinctive take
that he's fine and on board and actually applauding what
the Eagles did yesterday. What say you coach of the
(16:47):
year or at least coach of Sunday? Still coach? You
lucky not back coaching high schools after that that cyo move?
All right? All right with the call, Let's let's kick
it off with Mark and Sacramento. Mark, Happy New Year,
and thanks for man being there when Chris was on
his vacation the whole time. How you doing, Mark, I'm
(17:09):
doing well. Welcome back, Chris. Hey, Rob, you know it's
it's the odd couple the coast of Nostra. Man. We
all had your back. Why, Like Chris was gone, so
all the callers tried to just get you through it. Man,
it was it was a long two weeks, Rob, Rob's like, Chris,
two weeks is a long time for you to be gone. Man,
we had to break in a co host every other day.
That's not don't go, Chris. I'm here. I'm here to
(17:31):
stay for a long long time, and who knows when
my next day off will be. Yeah, it'll be a
while to Rob takes his next vacation to let see
where you're going to the movie. Yeah, hopefully Russia and Australia. Know, Rob,
you can do shows from on vacation. I've done you know,
(17:51):
I've done shows from a Aruba the last two years. Yeah,
you can't do it. You can't. Real quick, real quick, guys. Um.
I kind of agree with Rob on one thing, as
far as those that the teams goes through them your
own games, man, just shut up. I don't want to
hear that crap. Yeah. But but as far as I
(18:13):
would have liked to see the young man finish the game,
yes that you go, Okay, you hear your other quarterback
squak and he wants to be traded. This might be
the guy that you have to plug in there. Let's
let's he's in a great situation in a print, you know,
big time game. Basically, yeah, let's see what he's gonna do.
(18:33):
Let's see what he can do, purpose situation to leave
him there and see let him finish the game. So
I would have liked to seen that. Yes, that's fair.
I think I appreciate. Thank you, Mark. I think one
thing is says Robb is they it doesn't seem like
they're behind Jalen Hurts. I totally agree. There's it's like
tour it down there, Chris. There's a couple of things
where you look at just up the actions of teams.
(18:54):
It says something, all right, Marty in Kentucky, you're on
the odd couple. Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Marty? What's up? Fellows?
Welcome back, Chris. We missed you, Thank you Marty. Great
to hear your voice. Man, Happy Man Year. We missed y'all,
we missed Alex, miss Rob g the whole tech crew
Christmas Eve. I had a good rip on Rob and
(19:14):
I went to play it back on the podcast and
they repeated, I are one on I or two? And
then I didn't get the show off. I ripped Rob.
Why would you do that? Marty? You know what kind
of guy you want to Yeah, I'm coming. Grinch is
coming at you again because I totally, totally and one
(19:35):
hundred and fifty percent against what Doug Peterson did and
what my Steelers did this weekend. I believe if the
game matters to other teams, you gotta show some integrity
that's consistent, that's conceit, Marty. I don't have to steal,
but hold on, Ben, Rob, Marty, Ben roths But what
(19:56):
did they play five four games and like it was
something to redict three games in fifteen days or something
like that. I understand they needed a break, and they
don't owe it to any other team. They didn't know
it to Miami to beat the Browns, you know what
I'm saying. Like about five years ago, the Chiefs did
(20:17):
the same thing with Steelers. They they did not play
their starters against the Chargers last week of the year,
and the Steelers needed the Chargers to lose that game
to make the playoffs, and the Steelers fans and the
Steelers program wasn't happy, and turn around did the same
thing that could have cost the team a spot in
the playoffs. It goes around, comes around. I just don't
believe in it. Yep, thanks Marty. Appreciate a call and
(20:39):
mobile Mobile Alabama. You're in the eye couple of Fox
Sports Radia. What's up, car? That's car? Yes, hold on
a second, No, you got ready? Hello? All right, we
(21:01):
gotta go to what you call Mark and Virginia call
call back when you're free, dude, we got a national
radio show. He's like, hold on while my handbroker Mark
in Virginia, you're on the OD couple of five radio
can you guys, hear me, We got you, all right.
I got a tune up in my car where we're
making this call, So just hold on. I'm just kidding.
(21:22):
I'm kidding, sorry about that. Uh. Anyway, a side note
the Steeler thing. I agree they needed to arrest no
his stander, but but I have not heard anybody anybody
today mentioned how many starters for the Browns were out
on defense. Anybody No six six, five for COVID and
Greedy Williams on IR so they're starting. They didn't even
(21:45):
have their starting cornerbacks, but six players were out, not
one person. All these shows today mentioned that. But I
mean were you know, they couldn't play what I'm saying though,
they said he throw in the towel and all, and
the Browns shouldn't have you know, they're playing with six
down that stuff. But get to our point here. You
(22:06):
know what, this is a controversial situation. You know, I
see one side and I see the other. If you
want that kid to grow, you let him go ahead
and see if he can take pull out the win. Okay,
But what's missing from this whole thing, and it's going
to go on and on on, is the thing called
the commissioner of the NFL. Where in the hell is
his voice? You know, you spit on the sidewalk, you
(22:27):
get a COVID reaction from him. But this type of thing,
not one word. Here's what I'd say, Mark, I don't
think the Eagles like they were well within their rights
to do this. You know, if they their season was over,
win or lose, it didn't matter. I mean, you saw
(22:48):
how other many many players were healthy scratches. It was ridiculous.
I mean, they clearly weren't trying to with They can
do that if they want to sit guys. My thing
is it was just a bad move because you didn't
get to see Hurts in that position to try to
win the game. That was my problem with it. All Right,
it's the I couple, Chris and Robbiegot, Anthony Gargano, our
(23:10):
good friend from West back on New York days. Yah, Yes,
but he's so Philly. You know, I know he's from Philly,
but he's Philly. He's like every time he talks to you,
he's like he's got a Chief steak in his mouth.
He will be joining us momentarily. Fox Sports Radio has
the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all
(23:32):
of our shows at Fox Sports Radio dot com and
within the iHeart Radio app search f SR to listen live.
We're coming to you live from the Fox Sports Radio studios.
As we say, he's our good friend from our New
York City days. Now, of course he's in Philadelphia at
the Fanatic ninety seven point five. He co hosts The
(23:52):
Fellas with Lincoln Kennedy here on Fox Sports Radio on
Saturday mornings six to ten am Eastern Time. Our man,
Anthony Gargana, what's up, brothers, Anthony? Happy New Year, my boy,
he's not at all, but that's what he started year.
You dot to have you on, man, And look, I
don't know, I haven't heard you take it on this
(24:14):
but Rob Parker surprised me in defending, not only defending,
but applauding Doug Peterson. I thought it was a horrible
move because I wanted to see Jalen Hurts in that
in that room, in that type of situation. See does
he lead us to victory? I didn't. I ain't worried
about the integrity of the game and all that. I
just thought he should have played to win, and he
(24:36):
clearly didn't. And you can lode to me, you can
lose the locker room that way. What's your take on
this whole situation? All right, let me preface it by
saying I was a fan of the process, and I
still haven't fan of the process, right, And that is
the Sixers who needed to restart their franchise by gutting
(24:59):
the rod and they were banned all purpose. All right?
What Doug Peterson one of the worst coaches in the
history of the NFL, and it's masked by a super
bowl of cushion. And let me tell you something. And
he's a phoneful gaze, but what he did was weeks
(25:23):
w e a k weeks. You'll be exposed by his players.
Let's see the men. Listen, you could sit whoever you want.
And I agree with you when it comes to the
integrity of the game, Like I don't you know whatever
it is? Right? We throw that, We throwed out out
(25:43):
a lot. But you got a major quarterback problem. But
you don't know what Wentz is right right? You you're
trying to figure out who hurts is you got a
spot right now? Think about this for a second. The
Q was moving the ball and imagine if he pulls
the game out. Now listen, I'm all four to six
(26:06):
pick Robbie, so I get it. You get number six first.
You already know. Hey, Anthony, let me just say this.
You think it was about the Yes, it is, Anthony.
I'm just gonna say, here's my three points. Hey, the
better better situation with the pick B. Instead of asking,
you're not gonna ask players not to play hard or
(26:27):
not to try to win. So rather than do that,
you put in lesser players who maybe can't get it done.
If they do, right, if they do, then you tip
your cap and it is what it is. And and
the other part Screw the Giants. Why should the Eagles
look out for the Giants? Screw to Heving Giants. I
(26:49):
think they thinking about the Giants. But I'm saying the
Giants anything the Cowboys, that's the beast man because right,
so I hear you, but or can decide what I mean.
What if Hurts pulls it out, right, he'll feel great
about himself, right, like you denied him the opportunity. If
(27:13):
he makes it close, he's gonna feel good about himself.
What about his offensive line? What about the rustlers players
from defense who played their balls off on defense? Right?
And what's the message, Robbie, Robbie, what's the message? You
know what? It's love? Love is the message. You remember
that him. Love is the message. No, if Anthony, it's
(27:36):
a it's a last season. And all I'm saying is
you don't want to hurt yourself in the draft audience, right,
you need players. And the other part is if you
can stick it to the Giants, why not? Why not
because the Giant did that? Because the Giant. No, I'm
just saying, but it's no. I'm not trying to help you, Chris.
(27:56):
I'm not saying that they went out and their goal
was to hurt the Giants. But I don't need to
help you. And all a belly you liked, Anthony, all
a belly aching from these ex Giants and Eli Manning
and all these people that made it worthwhile. Yeah, that
the kid cry because they were one in seven, right,
(28:21):
six games? If you want to make the playoffs, how
about that. Here's where I'm at. I got a two
part question for you. One, they don't to me, looking
at Doug Peterson, Howard Rose been on it. They don't
seem to like Jalen Hurts. I mean I don't mean personally,
but to me, they don't believe any the way they've
kind of treated him over the last few Weeks's he
(28:44):
has a great game, leads him to victory, but we'll
see next week who's the starter? All that? And two
do you think Peterson may have lost the locker room
with this move? All right? So I don't think that
one like him as car swet because they treat the
(29:05):
cars and went hardly. Like listen, they that's that report, Yes,
that came out of the Eagles. I'm I'm I believe
that that wasn't a wentz Wine that came from the Eagles. Now,
as far as Zale's concerned, you know, I don't think
they dislike him at all. I think they were they
were just playing the put. Doug is not a bright man,
(29:30):
all right, let me try to be kind. They're right,
he's not very articulate in his press conference. He doesn't
navigate the press comperence as well, and I think some
of the messages get confusing when he speaks that whole said,
does he lose locker room? He's like he's he's a
(29:50):
former player and he's got that player's attitude. So like
Jalen Reagor leaves the game and he's tweeting, so while
he's out of the game, he's sweetie. Now that's because
Peterson's a player's coach, so I don't think he'd used
the locker room. But I think he's a terrible offensive coach.
I think he's he runs antiquated West Coast offense and
(30:15):
he's the worst thing for Jalen Hurts. M Yeah, I
just I don't know what they're gonna go. When I
see all these reports from anonymous gms and different people,
it just doesn't it's not glowing about Jalen Hurts, and
I just I wonder that keeps, you know, up until
whether or not Wentz wants a trade. What are you
(30:35):
hearing though, Anthony, Like just players, You know, players talk
about other guys. If they believe in him, what are
they saying about him, because just all the other stories
don't are glowing. Not that he's a bad guy, he's terrible,
but they just think other guys are better than him
than Why don't you talking about yeah, yeah, yeah, now
(30:56):
he Listen, there's something strange about Wentz in that he players.
And you notice, you guys from being around you've been
living in locker rooms Oh, you'll understand that players have
a sixth sense about a guy, and there's something about
Carson that rubbed them the wrong way. I don't know
what it is. On the surface, he seems like a
(31:17):
good dude, and I don't he wants to win. But
like there was a problem with Alshon Jeffrey, there was
a problem with the Shawan Jackson. There was a problem
with some guys, and they didn't really care for him.
Now he's from North Dakota. He's not constant piles, and
he's a hunter. He's a little square. I don't know
that's it, but and I think he's a I think
(31:40):
he's also like a type ay, and I think he's
got an issue with Peterson, and he's got an issue
with how Peterson runs his offense. But there's something strange
around him. I think they're so messed up right now.
They have I wouldn't surprise me if they drafted another
quarterbacking fields or so well. I was gonna ask you,
(32:06):
all right, so we got a minute for your answer.
Who you who would you say as a starting quarterback
next year? Game one hurts and and and WinCE has
been traded. Yeah, Wentz is out. I can't imagine Wench
being back here. And I'll be honest with you, like,
if it's to me, I would have fired up Peterson yesterday.
(32:28):
I would have fired how we robs me yesterday. I
would have got a new coach and tried to fix
both quarterbacks instead of his nonsense where you gotta pick one.
I gotta try to fix Wentz and nurture Hurts. And
because I can't come out of this thing, I'm in
capell and I can't come out of this thing without
a quarterback. And that's what they're looking at right now
(32:50):
that can't have zero quarterback Trading went and Hurts doesn't
work out. Now we're you at Wow, all right, all right,
got mad and great stuff. Brother, Happy New Years. You
already know it. Man. Come on, we were in the
trenches together, man, when we were young reporters in New York,
(33:12):
shaking the pushes. Man. Y'all pre still young? I rob
all right, brother, piece man, brother, stay well, all right.
We got the legend, a living legend. Uh loses his authority.
We'll get to that. Next is the Eye Couples, a
rib Fox Sports Radio. Wow. Be sure to catch live
(33:34):
editions of the Odd Couple. With Chris Broussard and Rob
Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app. Alright, it's
the Eye Couple, Chris and Rob. This sounds more like
a worship Wednesday than the Magic City Monday from DJ
Iowa say dollars you've been throwing dollars in the plate? Yeah, yes,
(33:58):
that's right. All right, this is Jones Jones song I
know is what pretty woman Tom Jones. But anyway, Rob, um,
there is big news in the NFL. We know that
this is the Monday when so many coaches get fired,
(34:21):
and we've asked several lose their jobs already. Call it
white Monday. Why it got to be back. That's why
you noticed. I didn't say I didn't say that I
gotta be black Monday, right, right, but black Friday. I
told with Chris it's black every day for us, right,
that's right, that's right. But Anthony Land of course with
the Chargers, Adam Gasee, with the Jets, Doug Marone down
(34:45):
in Jacksonville. No surprises. But um, and here's the thing
in Denver, John Elway, who has been there head football
decision maker for what the past decade. Uh, he is
there there promoting it as a promotion. He's going to
(35:09):
become the team president or or stay as the team president.
But they're gonna hire a new GM who will be
the final voice on football. Mac. What's your thoughts on
this fire? John Elway, Come on, Chris, they stripped him
(35:29):
a final say. They didn't promote him. They gave him
up a cushy job because he won two super Bowls
and he brought in Peyton Manning and they won a
super Bowl with that great defense. He has been horrendous.
Wait wait wait I just said he brought in Peyton
Manning and won a super Bowl. Okay, you want to
go look at all the quarterbacks that they drafted in
(35:51):
the mistakes that he's made, no doubt. No, that's why
they're taking away his final Say No, my point to
you is they're saying, once they take your power, Chris
or Newter, you you're no good. John always just trying
to save phase because because he's the guy in Denver
and they don't want to make it sound bad. I
(36:12):
was in Detroit when they had to fire Alan Trammellis,
Tiger manager. They've been great players. Who've been fired all
the time. Okay, just accept it. Thank you, John, you
got us a super Bowl. We appreciate it. But he
has been Chris making picks and trying to identify a quarterback.
Come on, man, he's been a disaster. Am I right?
(36:33):
You're right on the quarterback. That that defense. Look, I'm
not saying he put it together, but that great defense.
And they've been good in the defense for most of
the time. It's under him. Now, you thought you'd think
he could get you a quarterback. Obviously he hasn't been
able to. It's like Michael Jordan drafting people. I'm sure
it's been that bad. It's been. It's that's actually a
(36:53):
pretty good comparison. But here's what I'm gonna say, Rob,
you can't fire John Elway. Michael Jordana, Yeah, he in DC,
he did, He wouldn't have got fired in Chicago. I
mean you, John Elway is king there two super Bowls
(37:15):
as a player. One is as a gem, even though
we know he wasn't a great gem. But still, and
I think this is perfect. And you talk about Elway
is saving faith. Now he said he talked to Ozzie
Newsom and he made it sound like he's kind of
ready to move on. Who knows, But the fact is
he's about to live a cushy life. Nah, he's gonna
(37:38):
get paid big money. You know what I'm saying that
he's just don't don't sell it like that. Don't sell
it like it's a promotion and this and that. Once
you say to people, Chris, this is my only thing
that he won't have final saying football operation operate. That's
a demotion. That's what he had. How do you know
he's had to do with it? I don't. He didn't
(37:59):
just say step away. Look I tried. I did get
us a super Bowl. But you know I'm ready to
move on. I get what you're saying. And we don't know.
I did he have something to do with it? Was
he ready to step down or step away? Right? There's
no debt? Look is he he's not gonna he's president, right,
but he's not gonna have anything to do with football.
(38:21):
Do we really think he's qualified to run the organization,
business operations or whatever. That's my point. He's gonna have
a cushy job. He's gonna get paid all his money
and be John l. Way. They get to say he's
still associated with the franchise. That's a plus, Lars, he's
not involved with football. What's it hurt? Can you sell
(38:42):
hot dogs? In section three twenty? Since you don't have
anything else to do? Hey, I wouldn't mind a job
like that. The President, he'll probably never have to show up.
You'll go to games, watch and have fun. All right,
it's the odd couple. We got two hours left. Keep it.
