Speaker 1 (00:01):
I have to have better stop from the beginning.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Jonas Knocks, you thought you knew me.
Speaker 1 (00:05):
You didn't know anything about me.
Speaker 3 (00:07):
He's crazier than a else. Wracked that guy, Jonas Knocks,
You heard me, brien, some darkness is lighting up your
speakers to establish an alibi for the day. From the
ti rack dot com Fox Sports Radio Studios, here's Jonas Knox.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Yep, Okay, I'm import of this world. You know there
is an easy fix. I mean it happens all the
(00:48):
time you go out to eat, you go to an event.
There's a way to improve things. We're going to improve
what the hell is going on that all of us
are thinking at the same time this weekend in the
world old of sports. And we'll get into that for
you coming up here in just a couple of moments.
From now, Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio. You can hang
out with us as always on the iHeartRadio app. You
(01:08):
know you can always find us on hundreds of affiliates
all across the country and wherever the hell you are
making us a part of your Saturday morning into the afternoon.
We appreciate you doing so. We're gonna take you all
the way up until four pm Eastern time, one o'clock Pacific,
and we do it all live from the tire rack
dot Com studios tirerac dot com. We'll help you get
there an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road hazard protection,
(01:31):
and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tire rac dot com
the way tire buying should be. So there's this channel
on direct TV and listen. There's some people that may
not have DirecTV. That's fine, whatever, who cares. That's not
the point. The point is this. It's called Game Mix.
I believe it's channel two oh five, and when you
(01:53):
turn it on, it's got little screens of various sporting
events sports channels all over the country, all over the
world that you can kind of watch. It's almost like
it's like being at a sportsbook, you know, minus like
all the cool stuff, and so you look at it
and like, for example, I'm watching it right now, and
(02:15):
I go soccer, the Big Three, swimming, a NASCAR race, softball,
baseball pre game, a UFC fight, and an NFL game
from like fifteen years ago. Now outside of the NFL
(02:36):
game from about fifteen years ago. You know what all
those events have in common. You know what they all.
What the key ingredient for all of those that kind
of ties them all together and blends them all together.
You know what it is? You can gamble on all
of them, every single one. You want to bet whether
(02:58):
or not this guy going off the high Dome is
gonna play bumper cars with his neck on one of
the boards on the way down. You could probably bet
on that it's truth. You want to bet on the
soccer tournament, go right head, what about the Big Three? Sure,
UFC fight. You could do live betting on the UFC fight.
There's a softball game going on. I don't even know
(03:18):
who's playing, doesn't matter. The point is this. It used
to be back in the day that you would get
to this point and you go, oh geez. I mean,
here we go. It's the dog days of summer.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
Here we go.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
We gotta wait all the way until the NFL season starts.
It's gonna be a couple of months. I mean, there's
a reason why the crummy spies are usually done right
around this time. I don't know, maybe it's like three
weeks something like. But the point is the reason they
do it is because well, there's quote unquote nothing else
going on. There's nothing else out there. This year we
(03:59):
get a little bit of a help because the Olympics
are going on next month. But normally this is when
you're looking around, going, I mean, what are we supposed
to do?
Speaker 2 (04:08):
I mean the NBA playoffs are over.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
We're like when football ends, a lot of us are like, well,
now what are we gonna do? Well, you know what
you're gonna do. You're gonna catch up on the NBA.
You're gonna get you know, ready for baseball. It's coming up.
You're gonna get ready. You're gonna watch college basketball. Like listen,
there's stuff out there, like major events that are out there.
But when the NBA Finals are over, and when they
(04:30):
get over quick and there's no Stanley Cup final game,
and when there is there's only one more because Florida's
gagging away that series up three to zero, you're looking
around for something to watch. And that is where despite
all the critiques and all the worry and all the
naysayers and the negativity surrounding, that is where gambling steps
(04:54):
up and says, oh, don't worry, we got you. Don't
worry about it. Don't know a damn thing about what's
happening in the Big three. Don't listen, We're good. Come
with us. Let us make this more entertaining for you. Oh,
you don't know who the hell that is that just
jumped off that giant board in a swimming pool in
(05:16):
the middle of Duluth somewhere, like, you don't know what
that is. Don't worry about it. You can bet on him.
Oh what's that over there up on screen five? Is
that a horse race and tibet with two legged horses? Sure,
come right in, we got something for you. It is
(05:37):
the ultimate condiment. It improves everything. And I keep pounding
the table for you. When everybody wants to talk about
all the bad things that it could bring to sports,
I keep pointing out, listen, it's entertainment, all right. Yes,
the players can't gamble on it. Yes, if they do,
they get criticized, and umpire may walk by a sports
(05:58):
book and next thing you know, he's not allowed to
ump a game. The entire seyes. All of that being said,
it is the ultimate condiment. You show up to a restaurant, Hey,
what you get? I got a chicken breast? Hmmm seems
a little dry. Yeah, imagine just having to eat it. No,
that's good.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
Sorry, don't know.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
What to tell you.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
What does gambling do?
Speaker 1 (06:19):
You want some barbecue sauce, you want some house dressing,
you want some buffalo sauce, little mango habanero, Like, what's
your preference? Here? We got it for you, We got
it all covered. So while a lot of people sit
back and condemn the fact that some of these sports
(06:40):
leagues are accepting money from the gambling community, yet yet
they're punishing players and they're hypocrites for it.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
I don't care what it is. They have saved the day.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
They have made your life and transition from your NBA
finals are over to waiting to the NF so much
easier and so much more entertaining. You could be pulling
up to a sports bar right now and there's nobody
in there because they've got this antiquated thought that, oh,
there's no major.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
Sporting events going on.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
What do we got here? You got two guys punching
each other in the face in Saudi Arabia right now
that you can gamble on. They have changed the sports
calendar forever dog days. I don't want to ever hear
about them. I don't want to ever hear about there's
nothing going on, there's nothing to watch, there's nothing to do.
(07:37):
I got a great lesson. One time my brother told
me this. I was working with him. We were doing
some landscaping and stuff like that. I was young. I
remember working with him and I remember him telling me
there's always something to do. Anybody that tells you I
got nothing to do, they're just being lazy. There's always
something to do. And I remember that forever. No matter
(07:58):
what job I had, if I was a bus boy,
it didn't matter. I always found something to do, something
to clean napkins, to restock silverware, etc.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
Et cetera.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
Listen to me and listen to me. Good. The dog
days are over, and you want to know why, because
there's always something to gamble on. You don't have to
break the bank, you don't have to be a degenerate flunky.
You want to throw two bucks on a game, go
right ahead. You want to load up on DraftKings and
look around and see, oh my god, Belgium, Romania are
(08:32):
coming up. I don't even know where those places are at,
but you know what, I know it's on television and
I know I can gamble on it. So you're welcome.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
Bye.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
Bye dog Days, Welcome DraftKings, and make it happen and
improve your sports calendar. Jonas Knox here, Fox Sports Radio,
at the Jonas Knox at The Jonas Knocks on Twitter.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
Now we'll say.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
This, it is important that you end up with the
right result. Now, the path you take to get there
could be some detours, but if you end up with
the right result, all is good. All right. You ever
been running late to the airport, Like you get there,
you don't even think you're gonna make your flight. You
(09:12):
get there, you're scrambling, there's traffic, you get checked in,
it takes forever, you're running through security, you're going, and
then finally you get and there's that moment where you
get on the plane, you sit down, and you go
it all worked out. You got the right result. Yeah,
traffic sucked. Yeah you didn't get the seat you liked,
(09:35):
but at least you're on the plane. It all worked out.
If we're being honest. You may not have liked the
path the Celtics took to get to the postseason and
through the postseason. You may not like the fact that
the Celtics are NBA champions. Maybe you're a bitter Laker fan.
Maybe you're somebody else it's upset about. Maybe you're a
(09:57):
Knicks fan, or you could be a Dallas man. There
seems to be a whole lot more of those now
all of a sudden. You may not like that, but
the right result happened. The right thing happened. They were
the best team in the NBA all year. They're probably
still celebrating, and they should be. They finished that game
(10:21):
with Dallas and less than a day later they were
in Miami partying, and they've been partying all week, and
they should be because they were dominant all year. They
were the best team during the entire regular season. They
were the best team in the postseason. They lost three times.
They lost once on the road. The entire postseason. You
(10:42):
can try and complain about, oh my god, there's traff it. No, no, no, listen.
I know it's not ideal. I know you're sitting in
a middle seat and you're sweating your ass off. But
the right result happened. You made your flight, you got
on the plane, and in the NBA, the right result
happened this year. The best team from the start Game
(11:04):
one all the way to eighty two and through the postseason,
won the whole thing, and ultimately that's all you can
ask for, and at least they deliver that much. So
while you may not like all the other things that
came along with it, and you want to be critical
about the injuries and whatnot, say whatever you want, best
Team one, whether you want to argue their historical significance
(11:27):
and whether they're historical team doesn't matter. Those guys probably
need to detox at this point because they've been partying
all week, and they should have been because they were
dominant all season long. So at least at the very end,
despite what you say about the path and the NBA
Playoffs and the Boston Celtics, the right team one and
(11:47):
it all worked out. Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio

Speaker 1 (13:38):
Hey, listen, I'll admit it on the air if I
got it, I don't have it today, So screw you guys.
Coming up here in a little over ten minutes from
now from the tiraq dot com studios.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
I just want to know, all.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
Right, There's been a lot of conversations and discussions that
have happened this NFL offseason, but there's one that I
really got an I just want to know what was it?
Like a little.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
Behind the scenes.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
We're going to try and reenact that or play it
out and see exactly what the hell was going on
here with one team in the NFL. By the way,
this team is a playoff team, and this team is
a potential super Bowl team, So we'll get into that
for you again. Come it up here a little over
ten minutes from now here on FSR. So nobody has
(14:24):
any idea whether or not this is going to work, right,
We have no idea, just not quite sure. Like you
ever like tried to match up two people, you know,
and you're like, oh my god, this is going to work.
It's going to be perfect. Like you guys are perfect
for each other, like you know, like they've never met,
(14:46):
they've never talked, they've never seen each other, but you
know him and you know her or him and him
her and her. Listen, hey open minded here, all right,
what if whatever you want? Whatever is going to make
more relatable? All right, to teach their own. But the point
is you know both sides of it, and you go, oh,
(15:08):
that's gonna work. You just know it. And then they
get together and it's seamless and everything is fine. And
then years later you're talking about how great it is
and how you were the one that put them together,
and you just go, yeah, because I just I knew
that both of you, and I knew that it was
gonna pay out, and I knew it was gonna work,
like I knew how this thing was gonna go. So
I say all that to say this, I am one
(15:30):
hundred percent confident, without a shadow of a doubt, literally,
without any shadow of a doubt, that Tom Brady is
going to be a great broadcaster. I haven't heard a
single thing from him behind the booth, like whatever practice
runs that he's done with Kevin Burkhardt in a sound
(15:51):
studio on the Fox lot. I like, whatever, I don't,
that's fine, cool, whatever small appearance he made during the
UFL title game with Joel Klatt and Kurt Menafie, like,
I don't need to hear anything. It's going to work
because what I heard from him this week on The
Herd with Colin Cowherd is all the proof that I
(16:13):
need to know this is going to be a success
moving forward.
Speaker 6 (16:17):
In Saturday Night, we were so prepared and so focused.
Speaker 1 (16:21):
We were the opposite of tight.
Speaker 6 (16:22):
Really, we were always relaxed because we had the answers
to the test. I knew that I went through the
call sheet, and let's say we had one hundred and
fifty calls on the call sheet. There was a meeting
at a squad meeting eight o'clock. I would meet with
the quarterbacks starting at six thirty in the offense corner.
We go through every single play on the call sheet,
and we do exactly what we did. Okay, this is
a play, this is the run. What's the one thing
(16:43):
that could mess this run up?
Speaker 1 (16:44):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (16:44):
A safety blitz off the right side? Okay, great, what
do you want to do if that happens? So I'd
walk to the line of scrimmage that call was, that
call was made, I'd break the hood. I'd look at
the line scrimage. I'd say, Okay, the only problem I
have on this play is that the safety's blitzing off
the right side, and then I would just look for it.
Oh and he only did it, let's say, five percent
of the time. So most coaches would just say, I
just run the play whatever if they get lucky and
call at the same time one for them, And that's
(17:06):
not how I played, because that one play could mean everything, right,
So I would say no, no, no, no, if it's a
five percent chance it could happen.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
Do you think that that guy who put that much
preparation and that much time into getting ready for NFL
games is just going to get to the broadcast booth
and be like, well, you know, I'll just wing it.
Eh No, just yeah, Like he made himself successful because
of that. So seems to reason that if he made
(17:35):
himself successful because of that and it worked, why the
hell would he do anything different? Like, and it doesn't matter.
This isn't a well you know, now there's a broadcaster,
things are different. No, no, it's just a mentality. Like,
if you're lazy at one thing, chances are you're probably
gonna be lazy at another. But if you really want
(17:58):
to be successful at one thing, the only stuff you
have to draw back on, and the only stuff you
have to pull from is when you were successful elsewhere,
So you would just do that. And that's the same
for anything. That's the same for relationships, like any I
don't care what it is. Like, the only thing I
knew when I got into broadcasting is I knew how
(18:20):
to work hard.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (18:22):
I didn't have a friend in the business. I didn't
have a connection, a hookup, anything. All I knew was like,
all right, well, you know, hopefully I can get an
opportunity or I can get a foot in the door somewhere,
and then once I get there, then I'll be good
because I knew what to draw from. Oh I just
work hard. Yeah, it's easy. I've boys had to do that,
(18:43):
and that's what has helped me in every job every like,
just work hard. Tom Brady probably looks at this and goes,
all right, I've never broadcasted the game before, I've never
been an analyst before, I've never done this, So what
do I have to draw from and you can pull
from different people and take things and get advice on
how to do this and how to do that. But
(19:04):
the reality is you're gonna go back to what you know.
And so what he knows when he was a player
is I came in. I was a sixth round pick.
Nobody else wanted me. I was a backup. I was doubted,
I was questioned. I needed to will myself to become
(19:24):
a great player, and the way I was able to
do that was through hard work and preparation. Okay, so
now I look at it like this. I've never broadcasted
the game before. Everybody's a little bit questioning whether or
not this is gonna work. There are some people who
are upset about the fact that Greg Olsen is no
longer the guy, because everybody loved the work greg Olsen did.
(19:47):
So I'm hearing all that. I'm hearing all that. I'm
hearing all that. I understand all the skeptics, all the doubts.
So how can I make this work? Oh, that's easy.
I'll just do what's made me successful elsewhere. I'll just
work my ass off, I'll prepare and I'll just continue
and I'll continue to get better, and if I have
(20:08):
a down performance or if I have a down game,
I'll just learn from that, use it as motivation, and
then go from there. There's no way this doesn't work.
Like I'm more convinced now after hearing that sit down
with Colin Coward. It was a great interview just from
hearing that than I am hearing any practice run of
(20:28):
him behind the booth, Because that's somebody who's going to
use their past experience to make it work. They're gonna
find a way and figure it out. That's why I
think him and Belichick were such a great pairing because
they had the same mentality, let's just grind work our
asses off, and yeah, eventually we're gonna get sick of
(20:48):
each other. But you know what, there's gonna be an appreciation.
And I think you've seen that since they've been away
from each other, like more of an appreciation to oh, yeah,
you were way more like me than I realized.
Speaker 2 (21:01):
So what I hear like the way.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
He talks about and also when he's breaking down, like
his criticism of quarterback playing now and all that, I
also think this. I think he's gonna be way more
critical than a lot of people would expect Now. I've
talked about that before. I think people are expecting him
to be sort of this politician type where he's gonna
come on and he's gonna say this, and he's going
(21:24):
to cater to this because he was so polished when
he talked to the media before. Dude, that's a guy
you can't say a damn thing too. If he criticizes
his quarterback play. You don't sit there and go, what
does he know? No, dude, he's the greatest of all time.
You just shut up and listen. It's like Charles Barkley, like.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
He could say.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
Barkley could say whatever, go was a Hall of Famer.
So I look at this Brady and I don't Again,
I don't need to see or hear another thing from him.
Speaker 2 (21:55):
It's gonna work. That guy's gonna be ready.
Speaker 1 (21:57):
And the fact that he's got people telling him that
they made a mistake going away from Greg Olsen and
how great great? Do you don't think Brady's going to
be competitive with that? Like, you don't think that's gonna
rev him up to go? Okay, So he was good,
you thought he was good. Watch what I'm about to do.
And the only thing you've got to worry about is
(22:19):
the public perception, if you even have to worry about
that at all, of whether or not people think the
first game, because look, it's not like they're throwing him
out there with a sort of a random game and say,
all right, you just go ahead and figure it out.
What kind of work you No, no, no, no, Week one
you get Brown's Cowboys. Do you know the number of
(22:41):
the rating that's going to draw? First of all, it's
the Cowboys. Second of all, it's the Browns, who are
a really good team and an ascending team with Deshaun
Watson's return. And third it's Brady on the call. And
I've said this before, it's gonna be one of the
rare times that you're going to be at a sports
bar or you're going to be watching with a group
(23:03):
of people, and you're gonna tell everybody, sh hold on,
I want to hear this. When's the last time that happened? Like,
when's the last time you've wanted to hear the game
on television, maybe even more than you wanted to watch it,
just to see how that guy does. And I think
he's gonna do great. Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio
at the Jonas Knox at the Jonas Knox on Twitter.
(23:26):
Coming up next year from the Tirack dot Com studios.
I want to know how the conversation went with one
team in the NFL and one of their players, So
we will get into that for you coming up next
here on FSR. But for all the latest from the
world of sports, Ladies and gentlemen, make some noise for
a man who all of a sudden, hey, his left
(23:46):
hand got a little bit heavier. The one and only,
the newly married.
Speaker 7 (23:51):
Ryan actually Jonas. So first of all, I appreciate you
showing up first and foremost.
Speaker 1 (23:56):
I mean it was least I could do. Yeah, I
mean he couldn't get it, couldn't get an invie to
the wedding, so at least I could do is show
up here.
Speaker 7 (24:02):
Well, I finally figured out why you weren't there, and
I remember you were talking on I can't remember that
other show you'd do. It's with Brady Quinn yourself, And
who's that other guy?
Speaker 8 (24:12):
The name?
Speaker 7 (24:13):
I know his nickname, isn't it like King of the
ant Eaters or something.
Speaker 2 (24:18):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
I believe that's a European guy.
Speaker 7 (24:20):
Okay, So anyway, you guys like, no, I had no
idea the reason that you missed the wedding party from
last Saturday was because you worked nights at the Army
surplus store.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
I just did not know that.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
Well, listen, so so Brian Finley's trying to joke his
way through this. I was unaware that Finley was getting
married until I saw that Rob Parker was posting pictures
from the wedding. And I find it a little interesting
that Rob Parker would get an invite and not me.
So clearly you're a race I like, clearly, clearly that
was racially motivated.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
Rob Parker was allowed there.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
I was not.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
Okay, got it. Yeah, I'm glad.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
I'm glad.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
I'm glad we've got that figured out.
Speaker 4 (24:58):
I'm glad you.
Speaker 7 (25:00):
Yeah, I'm glad you looked at your text messages because
I did send you an invite, but then I got ghosted. Yeah,
so that happens, right, that's the new thing. That's what
people do when they don't want to respond, they just
ghost I.
Speaker 1 (25:12):
Never got an invite. You sent me an invite? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (25:14):
No, I sent you on on your phone.
Speaker 1 (25:17):
Oh you sent me an evite?
Speaker 2 (25:19):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (25:20):
Oh okay, yeah, I don't know if you noticed this, Friendly,
but the Tour de France, they don't use e bikes,
they use real bikes. So the next time you want
to have a wedding, you send me an invite, not
an evite, consider me Lance Armstrong.
Speaker 7 (25:36):
Yeah coming from the guy who calls rygann e bike
a workout?
Speaker 1 (25:40):
Yeah, well, I said, look, but I already explained, by
the way, a true story here, and I talked about
this this week.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
This is actually my FSR I R. I admit a mistake.
Speaker 1 (25:51):
I couldn't go to the wedding, but I didn't even
have the decency to tell Friendly and RSVP that I
wasn't going to make it. I legitimately forgot. Yeah I could,
I was not going to be able to make it.
But then I was thinking last week when you weren't
on the shows, I wonder where Finley's at. And then
I go on Instagram and I see Ben and Ben
Maller and Rob Parker together and I go, oh, no.
(26:14):
I felt like a complete horse's ass. But you know
I did send you. I sent you a dollar Tree
gift card and we were all good.
Speaker 7 (26:21):
You did you sent me a gift card? A ninety
nine cents store, although all of those shops here in
Los Angeles have closed.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
So I appreciate that so much.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
Hey, listen, you're going to look back on that one
day and look at this vintage gift card. I never
spent it, but it is.
Speaker 7 (26:35):
It makes me feel so good after all of that,
how much you feel for me, and you know, and anyway,
we dive right into what's going on here in the
world of sports and at the European Championships. I know
that soccer, Jonas, I know you're watching this one. Portugal
just beat Turkey three to nil, and that match was
actually postponed or paused four different times because these fans
(26:57):
they ran onto the pitch to snag selfies with Christiano Ronaldo.
So all four of those fans, they were selfie certified
in about a half an hour.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
So but by the way, can I just see don't
you think that sets a bad precedent that, like, hey,
run on the field you can get a selfie with
your favorite player. Like does anybody remember that Monica Selis
got stabbed, Yes, by a guy who ran on the court.
Like this is not a great idea, Like you know,
maybe like beef up security. So that an eight year
old doesn't run onto the pitch, as they say, and
(27:31):
get a picture with his favorite player.
Speaker 7 (27:32):
Yeah, it's funny that you mentioned that, Jonas, because I
remember you're talking to me about your high school days
and you ran across during homecoming of a football game.
All you had on was your underwear, and you thought
that that would have been funny. So here you are
sort of like backtracking what you once did, and you
know it's all good.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
I thought I was filming it. Yeah, I thought I
was filming a chapstick commercial. The true story, though, I was.
I was nominated for Homecoming King, by the way, and
the report that I got from people was that I
did actually win Homecoming King, but they didn't give it
to me because they knew I wasn't going to the
actual dance.
Speaker 2 (28:09):
Why weren't You just didn't have the self confidence?
Speaker 1 (28:11):
No, I never went to high school dance. What do
you mean? What?
Speaker 2 (28:15):
Because I looked awful?
Speaker 1 (28:17):
What do you mean why?
Speaker 2 (28:20):
Because you were hanging out in hot topic.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
No, I looked like an armpit with leprosy. I was
disgusting looking. Who was going to go with me? It's revolting? Yeah,
I mean listen, I don't say that to be depressing
and all that.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
You know, it just was what it was.
Speaker 4 (28:33):
Man.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
I didn't I didn't look good. I didn't develop in time.
And you know, if you want to go ask somebody, Hey,
you want to go to hello hello? Yeah, just there
was never going to be that option for me. Whatever.
Speaker 7 (28:44):
Yeah in your you know, your voice dropped about a
year ago, so I totally understand whatever.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
Man. Yeah, the thing about puberty is you know, you'd
never know when it's going to happen. So what happened
for me in my thirties, it happened in my thirties.
I'm not going to sit here and be judged for it.
Speaker 7 (29:02):
It's funny because one time, one time you're doing a
show and it was very high pitched, and then you
woke up the next morning and all of a sudden,
it's like, is that Jonas, it's a man.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
That's what it was. Yeah, look at friendly man. The
guy gets married. All of a sudden, he's got jokes
for days. Hoy, jokes on you pound about four months?
Speaker 2 (29:17):
Oh yeah yeah, hey yeah, well we'll see about that.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
All of a sudden, family's ready to pick up more ships.
Speaker 7 (29:22):
Oh what happened oh you're daddy killus? All right, I'll
leave you with this Jonas Cameron Young. He went for
a fifty nine to day on the golf course. That
was third round of the Travelers Championship on the PGA
two or only the thirteen sub sixty round and PGA
Tour history. He's minus thirteen to four. The attorney tied for
the lead with Tom Kim, who is just teeing off
(29:42):
right now. He's even through one hole at thirteen under
and over in Nashville. Oh goodness, do I dare say
it live Golf and Terrell Hatton?
Speaker 2 (29:51):
Isn't it?
Speaker 7 (29:52):
Tie with Abraham answer at seven under? They are through
five hole seven under each Jonas, So I wanted to
make sure we got that lead again as well.
Speaker 2 (30:01):
A purse of twenty five.
Speaker 7 (30:02):
Million dollars there for live, which I think is about
zero point zero one percent of what you make.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
I was going to say, what the wedding costs. That's
a fun bill to get. Huh yeah, hey, I'll say
this man, I got married during COVID and give us
upset about it because we had to cancel a lot
of stuff. Yeah, And then I looked back and went, yeah,
not too bad.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
You know, how was it getting married over zoom?
Speaker 1 (30:30):
It was not zoom. And listen you trying to criticize
our wedding, our shenanigans and festivities. I will say this,
Iowa Sam was at the wedding and he was absolutely annihilated.
Absolutely he got Come on, that's not true. You held
it together pretty well, Sam, You and Lee and Eric
Roberts were crippled, and do not lie about that.
Speaker 9 (30:53):
You know what, I don't really remember whether I was
super drunk or not, so I'll just give you the benefits.
Speaker 1 (30:59):
By the way, sam My wife made these, uh she
made these like shakers. Yeah, what what do they call moroccas? Yeah,
moroccas whatever, Who cares? Monica there they're moroccas and they're
like painted, and I think they might have had the
wedding date on, I don't know whatever it was. And
I see Sam walking out with one in his back
(31:20):
pocket and he's like two sets. He's like, he's all,
can we take these? So yeah, yeah, go right ahead.
And then I look and he's got two more in
his back pockets. So he's probably got that next to
all his whoopy cushions and ring browsers at home.
Speaker 9 (31:31):
So I have a whoopy cushion in my backpack right
now that you gave me. So yeah, it was uh
great to get an invite for that one.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
Well listen, sorry, so you're not part of the cool crowd,
and I don't tell you it happens Fendley all right.
Speaker 4 (31:43):
To be.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
All right, So there he is, Brian Finley. Give him
a shout out on on Twitter and let him know
happy marriage and congratulations. Jonas not here, Fox Sports Radio.
All right, So I'm just I'm wondering about this. I
just to know how this call went. So Lonnie Phelps
is a defensive lineman for the Cleveland Browns or he was,
(32:07):
And you're.
Speaker 2 (32:07):
Probably like, well, what happened? I mean, like trading camps
right around the corner?
Speaker 6 (32:10):
What do you do?
Speaker 1 (32:11):
Like what happened? Oh? Nothing, you know, just your run
of the mill crashing his suv into a restaurant in
Key West.
Speaker 2 (32:22):
What do you think that phone call was?
Speaker 1 (32:23):
Like? What do you think that was? Like? Like a
ling bud ling high coach Stefanski coach? Yeah, so ever
heard of the Red Shoe Island bistro in Key West? No? Why, well,
it's a favorite amongst players on the team. Oh yeah,
(32:46):
how much? Well, so much so that they just assumed
it had to drive through. Really, just imagine getting that
phone call, like if you're a front office or a
head coach of an NFL team, like, Hey, how's Lonnie developing?
All right? We have high hopes for him. We think
this is going to be a crucial offseason. Oh, he'd listened, coach.
He's been working out and he's really trying to get
(33:08):
himself in shape and he is ready to go for
the season.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
Nice. Who's this trainer? I don't know, sir, bumpa Cars.
Speaker 1 (33:16):
You know, he's getting him ready by taking him to
the Red Shoe Island Bistro in Key West.
Speaker 2 (33:22):
What are you doing, dude?
Speaker 1 (33:24):
So he's been released. Listen. I'm assuming nobody was harmed
by that. But I just do find it funny that
while these stories happen, somebody's on the receiving end of
that phone call. All right, somebody's going to get the news.
The Cleveland Brown's got the news, and Acosta guy's job.
Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio at the Jonas Knox
(33:44):
at The Jonas Knox on Twitter. Coming up next here
from the Tirak dot Com Studios, we are going to
have another edition of Do You Care? This is always upbeat,
positive sports conversation and it's yours here on FSR.
Speaker 2 (33:57):
This Sucks sucks Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (34:04):
That freaking voodoom music coming up top of next hour
a little over twelve minutes from now from the tire
rac dot Com studios. By the way, for those of
you listening on the podcast, I want to know which
song sucks. I believe this is like Andrew WTF or
whatever it is. What's what's this guy's name? Sam? I
(34:25):
don't know Sam. What's this guy's name? I hate that song?
Speaker 2 (34:30):
Andrew wk whereabouts?
Speaker 1 (34:34):
Unknown boy bummer, But coming up top of next hour
here from the tire rack dot Com studios. It would
be nice if somebody would just acknowledge what everybody knows
to be true, Like if somebody would just come out
and say, hey, listen, this is how it is. It
would be nice.
Speaker 2 (34:54):
It would be nice.
Speaker 1 (34:55):
I think everybody would feel better about it. But apparently
this somebody doesn't want to do that. We will get
into that for you again a little over ten minutes
from now from the tire rack dot Com studios. A
reminder before we get to another edition of Do You Care?
Though that shortly after the show, our podcast will be

Radio wherever you get your podcasts. We shout also follow,

Speaker 4 (35:25):
There are so many stories in the world of sports,
and most of them are a complete waste of time.
DMGR reports, Let's get kinky. Here's some of the big
stories from the last week. But Jonas the real question
is do you Care?
Speaker 1 (35:40):
After that, we turn it over to our executive producer,
Bo Benzon to find out what the hell people have
been talking about all week?
Speaker 10 (35:45):
Bo, Yeah, you know the people I am talking about
all week is how much fun we had at Brian
Finley's wedding. Oh you didn't get invited to Yeah no,
I didn't get invited either.
Speaker 1 (35:54):
Oh well why would you?
Speaker 2 (35:55):
Yeah you work with them every week.
Speaker 1 (35:56):
Oh yeah that's okay, Yeah, yeah, come on, yeah, yeah,
let's get carried away here.
Speaker 10 (36:01):
Brian Finley also not listening right now.
Speaker 2 (36:03):
Oh he couldn't care.
Speaker 10 (36:04):
Yeah, Yeah, he does not care.
Speaker 9 (36:05):
He's definitely not listening. Yeah, he's got his headphones on.
He's listening to something. Yeah, he's rocking, okay, watching tennis.
He's drowning out the noise at home.
Speaker 1 (36:15):
Of course, she is welcome to the club. Buddy.
Speaker 10 (36:19):
Philly's first baseman, Bryce Harper, debuted a new celebration last night,
themed after the Nice Young Lady that has been taking
the Internet by storm as the new meme jonas do
you care?
Speaker 3 (36:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (36:37):
Why not? It's good to see that that Bryce is
uh is paying attention to what's going on on social media.
I just wonder at what you're an idiot, Sam, I
just wonder, at what point, at what point does she
(36:58):
regret that, you know what I mean, Like they're just uh,
you know, just there there appears to be uh because
if I'm not mistaken, she was referring to what I'm
thinking she was referring to correct But yeah, yeah, I
just you know, I just wonder if at some point
when she has kids, they go, uh, mom, what's this?
Speaker 10 (37:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (37:22):
You know what I mean. Like, but hey, listen, Bryce
is paying attention and good for him, and uh you know,
good for her too. A little uh nothing wrong with
giving instructions from time to time.
Speaker 10 (37:31):
Next, Ryan Garcia was suspended for a year from boxing
after some positive peed tests. So Jonas, do you care,
Oh yeah, big time.
Speaker 1 (37:40):
First of all, it's box, but most importantly it's somebody
pissing hot, which I'm always a big fan of.
Speaker 2 (37:46):
Anytime there's a ped conversation that needs.
Speaker 1 (37:49):
To be had in the world of sports, I am
in all the way Ryan Garcia goes on the gas
and then beat Stephen Haney. Now this might be an
unpopped opinion, but I believe that he would have beaten
him even.
Speaker 2 (38:04):
Without the gas.
Speaker 1 (38:06):
That's my belief, all right, because the way that fight
played out, like you could say whatever you want about
perform it, just it seemed like Devin Haney did not
recover from the onslaught. The problem is, and while people
are putting this, you have but he put his life
in jeopardy by cheat. It's like, okay, if you want
to have the argument about Antonio Margarito, who put plaster
(38:29):
in his gloves, then we can have a real argument
about it. But when you take peds, there's no guarantees.
You've still got to go out there and you still
got to perform. Does it help you recover? All of
that is true, but it's not to the extent that
everybody thinks it is. I still think you would have
won the fight. It's going to be a no contest.
I just wonder about all the people that bet on
(38:51):
Ryan Garcia. If you didn't already cash out and take
your money and run, you're a moron. You needed to
get the hell out of their asap.
Speaker 10 (38:58):
Next, have Is Kelsey and Taylor Swift hung out with
some members of the Royal Family after her recent show
in the United Kingdom. Jonas, do you care?
Speaker 1 (39:07):
No, not at all. I don't mean to me like
Royal Kingdom all that stuff, Like I'm like cool, Like
listen the English soccer team, like just you know, win
a cup, like win a game, like do something like that,
and then we'll have a discussion. Next.
Speaker 10 (39:21):
Speaking of Travis Kelce, he has no issues with the
mistake on the Chief Super Bowl rings that listed the
Dolphins of the seventh seed. He says it makes them
more exclusive. Jonas, do you care?
Speaker 2 (39:33):
Yeah, Like, why is everyone making a big deal about it?
Speaker 1 (39:35):
I love it. I love how people like it'd be
one thing if like they got a ring that like
misspelled Chiefs, but they're like misspelled the seeding of the
Miami Dolphins. Big deal.
Speaker 2 (39:45):
Move on next.
Speaker 10 (39:46):
The debut trailer for Madden twenty five came out yesterday
and it features Steelers quarterback Justin Fields returning and opening kickoff.
So do you care about this one at all?
Speaker 1 (39:56):
Yeah? I think it's fun.
Speaker 6 (39:57):
Ye.
Speaker 1 (39:58):
How they're trying to trying to work their way into
the sports conversation. It was sort of a I don't
want to say controversial topic, but sort of a shunned aside.
It's like nobody knows what the kickoff is going to be.
They throw them out there. It gets people talking. Good.
Speaker 2 (40:10):
Move next.
Speaker 10 (40:11):
A reflective monolith appeared on the outskirts of Las Vegas
earlier this week, similar to other structures that have appeared
in other states. Officials are unsure of who put them
there and how they even got there in the first place.
But Jonas, do you care?
Speaker 1 (40:22):
Yeah? Come on, man, I love it. Look, people have
got to stop being so judgmental about people that see
things and all that. Like, just be open minded to
the conversation. There's nothing wrong with it. Yeah, some of
this stuff may be a bunch of crap. But you
know what, if somebody tells you they saw bigfoot, don't
try and dismiss it and say it was your drunk
uncle who ran around the fireplace.
Speaker 2 (40:41):
Just have a good time with it.
Speaker 1 (40:43):
You know, it'd be so much easier if this person
would just come out and say, yeah, you know what,
you're right, You're right, it was me. I did it.
It'd be just it'd be so much easier for everybody involved. Unfortunately,
that has not happened yet, and we will get into
the bottom of it coming up here in just a
couple of moments from now, Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio.
You can hang out with us as always on the
(41:03):
iHeartRadio app. You can find us on hundreds of affiliates
all across the country and wherever you are making us
a part of your Saturday afternoon. We appreciate you doing so.

of this hour four pm Eastern time, one o'clock Pacific,

tire rack dot Com studios tire rac dot Com. We'll
help you get there an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping,
(41:25):
free road as a protection and over ten thousand recommended
installers tire rac dot com the way tire buying should be.
So I was saying this last hour, you know, there's
a lot of people. I mean, maybe you'll complain about
the fact that the NBA Finals are over and it's gone,
and there's you know what, you know, there's nothing really
to watch, and there's like baseball and all the other
(41:48):
major sports, and there's like this delay and we've got
to like get ready for the NFL season now, and
it's going to be a long time. And I'm letting
everybody know, like, dude, there is a condiment on the
table to make your meal that much better. It's called gambling.
Get in on it, Okay, Like, if that's not going
to be enough to carry you through, I don't know
what to tell you. Like, you can gamble on anything
(42:08):
these days. And so I look at it and I say, listen,
it's not the worst thing in the world. There are options.
There are things out there for you right now. There
are going to be some storylines that will carry us through, though.
I mean, there's going to be some stuff that'll get
us through. There's a lot of conversation about quarterbacks and
contracts and getting it done whether or not. You know,
Tua tugabay Looa gets his contract done. What's funny about
(42:31):
that is I saw Mike Florio through this out there,
Tua wants a new deal.
Speaker 2 (42:37):
Would he consider holding out until he.
Speaker 1 (42:38):
Gets that new deal? Well, he like, he really can't.
He could, But quarterbacks are kind of judged differently, Like
if a receiver holds out, if an edge rusher holds out,
if anybody else holds out, it's like, all right, hey,
part of the deal wants a new contract, we get it.
Speaker 2 (42:57):
If a quarterback does it, what kind of leadership is
that showing?
Speaker 1 (43:02):
You know what I mean? Like, you're kind of judged differently.
So we're gonna monitor the to a contract situation. There's
Jordan Love Dak Prescott, like all these deals are gonna
get done. The other thing that we, of course will
always have is news surrounding Lebron James. We're always gonna
have it. Like you can tell Lebron James grew up
(43:24):
a Cowboys fan because he knows how to be in
the headlines and be in the news even when it's
not for like playing good or for being on a
good team. Because you know, he's always played well, but
you know, he's been on some teams that have been
a little bit underwhelming majority of the time in his
era with the LA Lakers, it's been an underwhelming time
(43:48):
for this team. I mean, it's improved from where they were,
but not to the where everybody thought they were going
to be the championship aspirations, everything that came along with it.
They've got the one from the bubble, I mean, little
wishy washy as to whether or not that's a legitimate
championship if we're being honest here, all right, I mean,
if we're being honest, you know, little wishy washy, okay,
(44:11):
but nonetheless considered if you want, that's fine. But there's
one thing that you just wish at least he would
raise his hand and go, yeah, that was me. You
just wish There's been a lot of moves that have
been made throughout the course of his career on teams
that he's been a part of, and yet for some
(44:34):
reason never just like raises his hand and say, yeah,
that was me. It was my call. And you just
wish that would happen, whether it was like a coach
being fired or whether it was you know, a player
being traded or whatever, like you know that he was
behind it, yet you never really hear him say that,
(44:57):
Like you know that JJ Reddick is the head coach
the Lakers because Lebron James wants JJ read it to
be the head coach of the Lakers, Like you know
that that's a fact. Darvin Ham was fired and it
was like, oh well, Anthony Davis reportedly had an issue
with Darvin. It's like, can we stop, Let's stop. It
(45:18):
would be okay if you just acknowledge yeah, I mean, yeah,
it's me. They don't like, yeah, I did it. Like
we could all just be like, okay, that's fine, because
I wouldn't have any issue with it. Like I don't
have a problem at all with Lebron going from the
(45:41):
place to place to place to place and trying to
control how things are done. I don't have an issue
with that at all. It's like the old Bill Parcells quote,
they want you to cook the dinner they had, at
least let you shot for the groceries. It's like, if
Lebron's going to a place and he's the guy and
he's the focal point of the organization, I have no
issue with him calling the shots. Go ahead, dude, Like
(46:03):
a lot of us wish we had that control.
Speaker 2 (46:05):
We don't.
Speaker 1 (46:06):
I don't shame him for that at all. There's a
lot of people that are critical about him moving around
to different I don't care. I didn't care when Kevin
Durant decided he wanted to move and go elsewhere. Do
what you want to do.
Speaker 2 (46:15):
That's fine.
Speaker 1 (46:18):
It's the idea that like, well.
Speaker 2 (46:19):
You know, I listen.
Speaker 1 (46:20):
I mean, the organization does what they do and I
don't have it. It's like, no, come on, man, Like
if if Darvin if Lebron wanted Darvin Ham to still
be the coach of the Lakers, he'd still be the coach.
Same with Frank Vogel, like saying, like JJ Reddick's the
head coach there because that's who Lebron wanted. Like if
(46:41):
Bronni James is drafted by the Lakers, do you think
it's not a Lebron call? I mean, do you do
you think like they're like they're consulting with Ruy Hachimora, like, hey,
do you think we should take Bronni? Yeah, it'd be
a great idea, Like come on, I would have Like
it's like that's the part that I think bothers people.
(47:02):
It's like, just admit it, Like it's okay. You ever
seen those fake beer coozies? You ever seen those things
you can buy? Like I've bought them for two of
my friends, one of them may work here at Fox
Sports Radio because you know, you know, had to had
to hide it is what it is, all right, I've
(47:25):
I've I've bought one for another body of mine. He
you know, he may be listening, because you never know,
Like you're on a walk, you know, you don't want
anybody giving you a hard time when you're having a
mind haze, Like I don't know which is you know,
an ipa, Like, but there's the there's these like fake
beer coosies. You know, instead of saying Coca cola, they
say Coco cola, and like instead of saying sprite, it's like, uh,
(47:50):
sprite with an O at the end of it, you know,
so it's sprite. Oh instead like it's think you know.
And what you do is you take them and you
put them over your beer. So when you're walking around,
people are like, oh, he's just drinking a soda pop,
No big deal. Hey leave that guy alone over there, right, Hey,
whatever you're doing. Leave that guy alone over there, he's
(48:12):
drinking a pepsil, you know, like it's that brand new soda.
That's but you know, you get so and listen, Steve,
you know. But the point is, like that's cool and all.
You know, what's even better not having to use one
of those at all, just walking around freely. It's the
great part about Las Vegas. First time I walked down
(48:34):
Las Vegas, I remember, I had a beer in my
front pocket and I was like drink, taking a sip
and like putting it back in my front pocket. And
buddy of mine's like, what are you doing? So I
don't want to get busted, dude, you're in Vegas. Oh god,
you're right.
Speaker 2 (48:48):
And it was like this.
Speaker 1 (48:51):
Mind jarring revelation that, oh yeah, I don't even need
to do that anymore. I could just I could just
be it'sick to Lebron. You don't have to do this anymore.
Pretend that you don't have any saying in an organization
and how they're built. Pretend that you didn't want certain
players traded away, Pretend that you didn't want certain coaches
fired and certain coaches hired. Just let it go. Take
(49:15):
off the beer koozy, take off the fake stuff and
just let everybody see what you're walking around with, and
I think we'd all feel a whole lot better about
the situation. Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio, at the
Jonas Knocks on Twitter. At the Jonas Knocks on Twitter,
Derek writes in, you la media ball washing bleep, go
(49:37):
back to bleeping it like the rest of you Faker
fanboys about the next failed bleep gig Reddit Who is
more useless than honey Hambone you bleep?
Speaker 2 (49:52):
He said that.
Speaker 1 (49:54):
Greg writes in, we need those Boston bum ass bros
to ma and turn this bleep Jonas into pig feed
like the useless board op that you've always been. I
am outragy at the Jonas Knox, at the Jonas Knocks
on Twitter where you can find us. Wow, hey, listen, man,
(50:19):
Like you know, like people are fans of this shot.
I don't know what to tell you, all right, people
are big into this show. So it is what it is,
all right. So coming up next here from the tire
Ract dot Com Studios, we are going to discuss.
Speaker 2 (50:34):
A team in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (50:38):
That while everybody is looking at it going all right,
great player.
Speaker 2 (50:42):
Listen, this is, you know, down a little bit.
Speaker 1 (50:45):
There's a real chance that this team is closer to
a rebuild than anybody in the league wants to admit to,
or expect or anticipate.
Speaker 2 (50:56):
And we'll tell you who that team is next.
Speaker 1 (50:58):
Here from the tire rack dot Com studio, Jonas Knox,
Fox Sports Radio, Man, I haven't heard mud Vein in forever.
Speaker 2 (51:06):
Good poll, Sam, It's because I've been off the show.
Speaker 3 (51:11):
Man.
Speaker 1 (51:12):
It's still one of my all time favorite band names,
mud Vain. What the he like?
Speaker 2 (51:19):
You know, I want to know which ones didn't make it?
Speaker 10 (51:23):
What are we doing here?
Speaker 1 (51:25):
All right? So coming up in a little over ten
minutes from now from the tire rack dot Com studios,
there's somebody that I believe if they get in trouble
this offseason in the NFL, they should be given a
free pass. They should absolutely be given a free past.
I'll tell you who that is. Coming up here again
a little over ten minutes from now here from the
(51:45):
tire rack dot Com Studios. By the way, more positive
feedbacks coming in from the show here. And I say
feedbacks intentionally because there are people that are chiming in
off the the reviews early on of the show, Ryan
(52:06):
writes in, you work from three am to six am
Monday through Friday, and Saturday at eleven am. You have
made it in the radio business six days a week
at all trash hours. I bet you will fill in
on some Sunday shows too for fun, you ing clown clown. Yes,
(52:28):
So what what I mean?
Speaker 2 (52:32):
Where's the putdown?
Speaker 1 (52:35):
I mean, like, come on, man, we're doing sports radio,
like you know, we don't have to be so judgmental
about everything.
Speaker 2 (52:44):
Joe writes in.
Speaker 1 (52:48):
F JJ Reddick, F Lebron, F the Lakers, and F
the bleephole that's all of La California.
Speaker 2 (52:58):
He said that.
Speaker 8 (53:00):
I am outright.
Speaker 1 (53:01):
So again, people are really really in a great mood
here on a Saturday afternoon. So this is always a
fun ride here from the tire rack dot Com studios.
All right, let's get into this because I would like
to just simply point something out here. Cameron Bynum of
(53:23):
the Minnesota Vikings, he was talking recently, I believe, with
the NFL network, and you know he's, you know, an
ascending player. He is somebody who you know, people are
looking at as being potentially a sort of I don't know,
if you want to building block for the organization or
(53:44):
if that's you know, kind of the way you want
to look and describe all this. But you know, Cameron
Bynum for the Minnesota Vikings is somebody who they look
at and go all right, So this is you know,
he'd started every game for us the past couple of years.
He's you know, a key cog in our defensive back FORETD,
our secondary. That's somebody that you would look at and
go all right. Definite building block for us as an organization.
(54:07):
And you know, he spoke with the NFL network and
he was like, hey, you know, our goal is to
win the Super Bowl, like that should be everybody's goals.
But you know, he kind of talked about the roster
and looking at the players and all that stuff, et cetera,
et cetera. And like you look at the Vikings and
you go, justin Jefferson, great player. A team that was
just in the playoffs a couple of years ago, A
(54:29):
team that you know, if their starting quarterback doesn't get
injured last year, is a team that could contend. And
I would argue would probably be a playoff team as
well too. And so this looks like a bounce back year.
For the Minnesota Vikings, there's a problem. If the reason
they didn't make the playoffs last year is because they're
(54:50):
starting quarterback Kirk Cousins got injured, then why the hell
would you anticipate that this team would be.
Speaker 2 (54:59):
In proved if they don't even have them at all. Like,
there's a real chance.
Speaker 1 (55:06):
And this is not trying to take shots at the
Vikings organization or try and take shots in anybody that's
there right now, there's a real chance the Vikings could
stink this year. I'm telling you, like, if you just
look at like and I think that they're closer to
rebuild than super Bowl. Like, you basically got rid of
(55:33):
an established quarterback and Kirk Cousins or didn't get rid of,
but you chose not to sign him to whatever the
deal was. So you moved on from an established quarterback
who had success won a bunch of games there, including
a playoff game, and you decided to go the direction
of first round pick at quarterback. So you're relying on
(55:54):
a rookie and the reports out of Minnesota are, well, yeah,
that rookie hopefully isn't even gonna play this year. It's
going to be Sam Donald. So you're basically saying, well,
you know, developmental year, transitional year into what we hope
is a better year next year. And like it's not
to dismiss anything. Cameron Bindham says, is like, oh, you know, like, look,
(56:17):
anybody who starts an NFL season, they've got Super Bowl aspirations.
They're optimistic because you don't have games under your belt
during the season to look at as kind of where
are we and how do we stand? But if you
look at the Vikings, dude, you gave up one of
the better quarterbacks in the NFC for a rookie and
(56:38):
Sam Donald, I don't know how anybody looks at that
and goes, oh, we're gonna be fine. Like I know,
people don't like, don't like Kirk Cousins. I know people
don't like that, Like, you know, he's kind of in
the Dak Prescott territory. They want to find every flaw
with him and everything wrong with them. But if Dallas
doesn't have Dak Prescott, like, I don't know that anybody
(57:01):
that's looking at it and going, oh, well, they're improved.
If you took the Dallas Cowboys and you said, hey,
no Dak Prescott, but they got a rookie that they
traded up for and then they've got Sam Darnold as
their quarterback. Is anybody having like super Bowl aspirations or
Super Bowl talks? No, you're looking at it as a
transitional year, like you're closer to a rebuild than you
are Super Bowl. That's just a fact. And never mind
(57:23):
the fact that while everybody's singing the praises of JJ
McCarthy and the Vikings got their guy. Albert Breer told
us on Fox Sports Radio about a month ago that
JJ McCarthy was like the fourth quarterback on their list
of ranked prospects in the draft. Like I don't so
(57:44):
I look at this and I go, man, Like, there's
a real chance that this season goes a lot worse
for the Vikings, and a lot of people are anticipating,
or maybe a lot of people are looking at or expecting,
Like if you just looked at odds right now, like
and you looked at the NFC North, if you went
to DraftKings and you looked at teams to win the division,
(58:08):
the Lions are the favorite to win the division at
plus one fifty. So you lay one hundred bucks, you
won one hundred and fifty After that, you've got the
Packers at plus two ten lay one hundred you win
two ten, and the Bears at plus two sixty five.
So all of those teams are kind of in the
same vicinity that you would look at and go, yeah,
the expectation is Detroit is going to win it, but
if Green Bay or Chicago won the division, not the
(58:30):
biggest shocker in the world. Through the Vikings are ten
to one, Like it's a significant difference between what the
betting market is saying about those three teams and Minnesota.
Significant difference, and that's you know, to win the division.
I mean, if you're looking at to make the playoffs
or you're just looking at wild card teams in the
(58:52):
NFL and you scroll down like you've got some long shots,
like you've got you know, New England, Denver, You've got
teams that are a ways away from being considered an
actual playoff team and teams that you look at and go,
all right, well, that would be a big surprise if
that team made the postseason. The Giants are four to
one coming off a really bad year, like the Vikings
(59:15):
are one of the bigger long shots in the NFC.
Like it like it's a three to one that they
even make the playoffs. So I look at this Vikings
team and I go, man, like, there's like, there's a
real chance that this doesn't go well this year. And
I know that people didn't like Kirk Cousins, and they
want to be critical of Kirk Cousins, and they want
to talk about, oh, well, you know he's you know,
(59:37):
he's this, and he's that, and he doesn't do this
for you, and he doesn't do that for I don't know, man,
they weren't a lot of games with that guy, and
so to think that you're going to move on from
him and you're going to roll out Sam Donald, who look,
I think I like Sam Donald probably more than some people.
I think he got dealt a bag of crap. I mean,
when you go from when the first two stops of
(59:57):
your NFL career are the Jets and the Panther, I mean,
what do you want? Like, I mean, like, like, what
are you expecting at that point? It's like, you know,
first day of vacation, you got on a pair of
white jeans and a Hawaiian shirt and you crap yourself
and vomit at the same time. Like that, I mean
(01:00:18):
we're talking like two minutes into the trip, like you
kind of that's not great. So like Sam Donald starts
out with crap and vomit in his NFL career, like
he hasn't really had a real opportunity with like a
really well run organization outside of San Francisco, and that
(01:00:41):
was you know more you know, spelling brock Purty and whatnot.
So Sam Donald could be better than some people expect.
But I think there's a reason why there's sort of
people are down on the betting market when it comes
to the Vikings because you got rid of an established
quarterback and you've now turned the key over to you know,
(01:01:02):
not to be critical, not to be offensive, but is
what it is, a journeyman quarterback and a rookie at
the same time. There's a real chance this goes poorly
before it goes smoothly for the Minnesota Vikings. Jonas Knox
here Fox Sports Radio, get me on Twitter at the
Jonas Knox at the Jonas Knock on Twitter, and you
can hang out with us as always on the iHeartRadio app.
(01:01:24):
All right, it's coming up next here from the Tirak
dot com studios. Somebody in the NFL I believe that
this somebody in the NFL should be given a pass
if they get in trouble this offseason. All right, I'll
tell you who that is next here, But for all
the latest from around the world of sports, make some
noise for Brian Finley.
Speaker 7 (01:01:42):
Well, Jonas, I believe you should be getting a pass
for you wearing Camo Cargo shorts today, so I think
that that needs to be mentioned as well.
Speaker 2 (01:01:50):
Thank you, Yeah, thank you.
Speaker 1 (01:01:52):
I appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (01:01:53):
Yeah, absolutely, yeah, you're the best.
Speaker 4 (01:01:56):
Absolutely.
Speaker 3 (01:01:57):
Hey.
Speaker 7 (01:01:57):
What we do have right now is the your championship,
the UEFA European Championship, and Belgium and Romani are battling, Jonas.
Those are two countries in Europe one nothing, Belgium leading
Romani in the thirtieth minute. And you can watch this
game on Fox Television, but you can also listen to
the Jonas Knock Show at the same time. So just
put the game on without volume and then listen to Jonas.
Speaker 2 (01:02:21):
That's how you do it, guys, come on, that's you
do it.
Speaker 4 (01:02:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:02:26):
Indeed, indeed, the Portugal with a three nothing or three Nils.
Sorry I should have said, Neil, that's more important to
those soccer fi Sionados over a Turkey three nil Portugal
also in the European Championship, and this game was halted
four different times.
Speaker 2 (01:02:42):
Why do you say that happened.
Speaker 7 (01:02:44):
Because fans decided to frolic and prance in gideap onto
the pitch only to try to run down Christiano Ronaldo
get into his airspace and try to pull off.
Speaker 2 (01:02:58):
A selfie, and some of them were successful.
Speaker 1 (01:03:02):
Hey, who would you if you could go like any
athlete in the history of the world. Yeah, who would
you run on the field to get a selfie with.
Speaker 7 (01:03:12):
Joey chestnut Really, let me tell you something, Jonas, he
is one of the greatest athletes of our time and
people need to wrap their head around that. So absolutely
Joey chestnutt And if I throw that back to you,
who would that be?
Speaker 1 (01:03:28):
M Probably Kobayashi Okay, yeah, I would say probably Kobaias.
Speaker 2 (01:03:33):
What about a picture of you, me, Joey and Kobayashi. No,
I'm good, No, but I think I'm good.
Speaker 1 (01:03:42):
Yeah, that's you know. I'm not really into memorabilia, so
that's not my thing. But yeah, I think I think
we're all good.
Speaker 3 (01:03:48):
Here.
Speaker 1 (01:03:48):
By the way, I'd love to I can't wait to
see what the ratings are the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating
Contest with no Kobia, with no Joey Chestnut there. I
can't wait to see how that plays out because he's
still not participating. Correct, let's last, I believe that is
a thing, So you could thank you, Reverend.
Speaker 7 (01:04:05):
Yeah, I think you would would make for a good
alternate yourself if you wanted.
Speaker 2 (01:04:08):
To compete in that.
Speaker 7 (01:04:10):
But yeah, from that, we go right into what Cameron
Young has done on the golf course. He fired at
eleven under fifty nine today during the third round of
the Travelers Championship. It's only the thirteenth ever sub sixty
round in PJ Tour history. He's MINEUS thirteen for the
attorney and that's not even the lead right now.
Speaker 2 (01:04:29):
He is in a if he doesn't win, he ot
to be ashamed of himself.
Speaker 1 (01:04:32):
Absolutely, you shoot a fifty nine, you said, that's a
thirteenth time in the history of the tour that's been done. Yes,
a sub sixty and you don't win the tournament, you
ought to be ashamed of yourselves.
Speaker 7 (01:04:42):
But you know what, I don't shame you for Jonas
shooting under sixty. A fifty nine for nine holes. I
haven't golfed in for I don't even Well, that's why
you would just want.
Speaker 1 (01:04:51):
A golf club.
Speaker 2 (01:04:52):
Yeah, you want to know what?
Speaker 1 (01:04:54):
You know why I don't golf.
Speaker 2 (01:04:55):
War because you're not good at it and you only
do things you're good at.
Speaker 1 (01:04:58):
No, not that at all, because I you know, I'll
go bowling and I'm not that great at bowling. But
the reason I, uh, I don't. I used to be
good at bowling, but those days have left.
Speaker 2 (01:05:06):
Well, what are you talking about the sport or you
know the other thing with the bowl.
Speaker 1 (01:05:11):
I've never smoked weed. How about you friendly your big hothead?
Speaker 2 (01:05:14):
Not close seem like it.
Speaker 1 (01:05:16):
That's a shame, you see. You seem like a bit
of a pothead. If I'm being honest with you. I
so the reason I know golf is because, well I'm
not a snob, you know, and I'm not listen. I'm
just I'm not one of those people that wants to
go out there. And I don't hang out the like
I walk into a country Last time I was in
near a country club, they told me to leave because
I had jeans on. And it's like, oh, sorry, that
(01:05:39):
doesn't mean some thing Jonas. Okay, all right, because if
you because of jeans, like you can't wear a pair
of blue jeans, Like I'm not wearing a pair of
Britannias from Kmart back in the day. These are decent,
legitimate jeans that cost like nineteen to twenty four dollars
that I bought and brought in. I had a polo
(01:06:01):
shirt on, I had a nice cool golf hat on.
I didn't have golf shoes on, but you couldn't see
the spikes. They looked the same all like some golf
shoes look like you could wear them out or play
basketball in them.
Speaker 2 (01:06:12):
And so because I was wear a pair of blue.
Speaker 1 (01:06:13):
Jeans, like you couldn't come into the It's like, come on.
Speaker 7 (01:06:15):
Well, the problem what they did. The problem was is
that they weren't just jeans jonas.
Speaker 2 (01:06:20):
They were ripped jeans. And when you do that, they
don't let you on the golf course.
Speaker 1 (01:06:25):
So what what's the different, Like, what's the differens between
me wearing ripped blue jeans and some guy wearing a
pair of Dockers shorts and he's got mosquito bites that
look like he had been paintballing the night before, Like
you think that's a better look than me wearing a
pair of blue jeans had a couple of holes. And
I'm no, I agree.
Speaker 2 (01:06:44):
I agree, Jonas.
Speaker 7 (01:06:45):
I'm totally on your side, and I hope that that
doesn't deter you in the long run from picking up
a sport that I think you and your your daughter
would be really good at.
Speaker 1 (01:06:54):
Yeah. Unfortunately I don't have a daughter.
Speaker 2 (01:06:56):
But you know me so well though, So.
Speaker 1 (01:07:00):
There you go. Family. Yeah, fairly, my son's been abducted.
According to Fly, I had no idea.
Speaker 2 (01:07:08):
I'm a woman.
Speaker 1 (01:07:11):
Oh my goodness, Finley, since we got your here, this
is my fun my son's first appearance here on sports
talk radio. Son, anything you want to admit to Following
Brian Finley's comments, I'm a woman.
Speaker 7 (01:07:26):
Ah, he's a great guy. He's a great guy that
I know him well, he's great.
Speaker 2 (01:07:36):
Is he on now? How old is he now? Three?
Speaker 7 (01:07:39):
So he usually he usually does the show because he
doesn't do your weekday show. He's asleep at the time
most you know, some people are, But this time on Saturdays,
is he on your lap, your three year old son,
the whole two hours that you're doing the show?
Speaker 1 (01:07:53):
Oh? God, no, him like him my wife and watched
watching Telenovella's or something. Oh god, yeah, they're like stuffing. Uh,
you know, time never I'll leave that joke alone, even
though I can say because they're the end laws, I
don't want anybody to be offended here, so I gotta
be here. It could be somebody on their way to
a kinsignetta. I'm not trying to ruin anybody's day here.
That's what I'm gonna do, all right. By the way,
Mexico is playing later on tonight, so h so we'll
(01:08:14):
get to watch that together.
Speaker 2 (01:08:19):
Not really, but I don't have a choice. Thank you
for asking, but nonemalized. Oh, Jonas, this is what wonderful.
We got through a lot, really good time.
Speaker 1 (01:08:29):
Yeah, this is a great time.
Speaker 2 (01:08:31):
Oh well boy, we got one one baseball score? Do
I do I have time for that? I'm not sure.
Speaker 7 (01:08:35):
I'm running out of music bed family, all right, all right,
I hurry, I'm usually pretty quick.
Speaker 2 (01:08:40):
I'll leave that there. Yeah, a cub six nothing.
Speaker 7 (01:08:43):
They are leading the Mets after the fourth inning, and
that game is on FS one, Jonas. So here's the
thing is, I get it back to you. You can
watch the baseball game on the game mix as you
were talking about in FS one. You've got the soccer
on Fox. Make sure the volume is off for both
of those because the Jonas Knock Show is where you're
years are going to go. Keep that tuned in to
the iHeartRadio app or on N five seventy LA Sports
(01:09:05):
or Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (01:09:06):
Nice. Yeah, thanks fan, appreciate it. Man, Yeah, I love you, man.
We'll do. She's down there somewhere, all right. So it
is Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio. Coming up in
about ten minutes from now. We are going to get
to some things in the world of sports and beyond
that we have not had a chance to get to yet.
It is called the Scraps. That'll be yours here from
(01:09:27):
the ti raq dot com studios. Somebody asked me my
thoughts on whether or not Caitlin Clark should get on
the Olympic team now due to injuries. We'll get into
that in our three of this two hour program here
from the tiraq dot com studios. So I would like
to say this, I believe that not everybody should be
(01:09:53):
punished the same way sometimes, all right, Now, there are
I believe there are exceptions, all right, you know, like
there's some things that justifiable, like if you know, if
like I don't condone speeding, I don't condone running a
red light, but like, if your wife's going into labor,
I get it. And if you're a police officer and
you're listening to this, maybe you've encountered that. You know,
(01:10:15):
I find it hard to believe that you're going to
give them a ticket when you see, Hey, listen, you
know she's going into labor. I got to get her there.
It's like, oh, okay, listen, don't like that you ran
the red light, don't like that you were speeding, but
I understand it, right. So I would just like to
say this if George Kittle, and I'm not saying this
is going to happen. I'm not trying to speak this
(01:10:37):
into existence, but if George Kittle gets busted for a
drunken public on fourth of July or at any point
during the rest of the off season, I think we
should give him a pass. Because he went on the
Bust Them with the Boys podcast this week and talked
(01:10:57):
about how his off season started and not exactly the
way you want to start your vacation.
Speaker 8 (01:11:04):
So after the Super Bowl, I lost almost thirty pounds
because I couldn't lift any I couldn't do any other
boy because my shoulder, my rib, and I couldn't do
lower because of my core surgery. And then I got surgery,
so I didn't lift from like the Super Bowl until
like almost mid March, Like I went a month without
doing anything, so.
Speaker 1 (01:11:21):
Literally his body was falling apart. Last year.
Speaker 2 (01:11:25):
The guy lost.
Speaker 1 (01:11:25):
And it's not like we're talking about a sumo wrestler
losing thirty pounds because you know he has aspirations on
doing the Iditarod, Like no, no, no, Like this is
like a tight end. I mean a guy who's like
thirty pounds off of two fifty frames kind of a lot.
So he loses thirty pounds to start off his off
season just going through surgeries and recovering from the year.
(01:11:50):
In my mind, that guy's earned the ability to have
one run in with the law of this offseason while drunk.
In my mind, that's the way I look at it. Okay,
now we talked about Lonnie Phelps of the Cleveland Browns.
That guy got hammered. He was basically crippled and decided
to get behind the wheel of his car and then
he drove into a restaurant in Key West. Bad look,
(01:12:12):
all right, bad look. I'm assuming he didn't go through
the off season that George Kittle did. Not a good idea.
But if George Kittle goes out on fourth of July
and all of a sudden they find him, you know,
he gets pot for a drunken public because he's shooting
mortar bombs off his shoulders and running around and like
his jockstrap and he's got like, you know, a beer
funnel with him and all the it's like, dude, the
(01:12:34):
way that guy's offseason started. Give him a pass. He's
trying to make up for lost time, and all should
be well. When it comes to George Kittle, good luck
on the season. Nothing to see here. We let him go,
We give him that free pass, and we get ready
for his embarking on another season to try and be
one of the better tight ends in the NFL. That's
the way I would do it, That's the way I
(01:12:55):
would police it. But again, not everybody is forgiving. Is

Speaker 4 (01:14:21):
Moron, how could you not get to these stories, you moron?
Speaker 2 (01:14:25):
These are the scraps.
Speaker 1 (01:14:28):
After that, we turn it over to Bo Benz and
to find out what the hell we've missed so far
in the show.
Speaker 10 (01:14:32):
Bo Yeah, you kind of touched on it, of course,
but uh jj Reddick was named the Lakers head coach
this week. Uh and my biggest takeaway from it is
that the following day, every show in the country led
with that and not the Boston Celtics championship parade. So
that made me feel good inside and I was happy
about that.
Speaker 1 (01:14:51):
So well, yeah, listen, I mean you got to control
the media. I mean, that's how this stuff works. And
it's also I mean what people have been. People really
tried their hardest when the series went three to zero. Yeah,
Dallas one get like people, they really tried to figure
out a way to be like, hey, listen, maybe there'll
be some carryover.
Speaker 6 (01:15:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:15:13):
No, there wasn't, like at all. And it's not even
like the Celtics played well in the second half of
Game five. It just like at that point it was
what it was, Dallas was an inferior team. And the
story had already written itself, so they were just looking
for anything new and fresh and potentially exciting to talk about.
And so you booke ended the NBA Finals with the
Lakers head coaching search. The rumor was out there that
(01:15:34):
Dan Hurley was going to get the gig. That came
out the first day of the finals, and then after
the finals were over, then you had the announcement that
JJ Reddick was getting the job. So it was what
it was.
Speaker 10 (01:15:43):
Yeah, good times. Also in the NBA, Alex Caruso was
traded from the Bulls straight up to the Oklahoma City
Thunder for Josh Giddy. I was shocked when I saw
that happen, and I kept waiting, you know, I was refreshing,
waiting for shams or well it'd be like, yeah, the
Bulls are getting a couple picks back. They're not getting
any picks. It's just straight up for Josh Giddy, who
(01:16:04):
was removed from the Thunder's rotation in the playoffs because
he was unplayable. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:16:10):
Well, and it's also like that that issue that Giddy
had with Yeah, which nobody wants to talk about that anymore.
Like somebody the girl was a minor but yeah, he
didn't know she was because he met her in a club,
I think, yeah, and it's like, well, why would she
have been in there if she wasn't of age, and
that's it, and so you there's like all that that
(01:16:31):
was surrounding it, and then you look at Alex Caruso
and you go, all right, good defender. He's going to
improve the team. And Josh Giddy apparently there were conversations
that he had with the coaching staff in the front
office and he was just like, well, if I'm not
going to be in the rotation, send me elsewhere. The
thing about Giddy, he's only twenty one, like a he's
a young dude, Like, yeah, there's definitely room for improvement.
(01:16:54):
And now he gets to go be a twenty one
year old in Chicago.
Speaker 4 (01:16:57):
Boy.
Speaker 1 (01:16:57):
That must suck one years years old in Chicago, boy.
Speaker 2 (01:17:01):
Tough time.
Speaker 10 (01:17:02):
Yeah, I just sucked. Like the bulls now have to
pay him after, I believe after this year, and just again,
the Thunder have so many picks to not get one
of them is pretty obscene, especially after leaking to the press.
How many times you turned down offers Raliscrusso last year?
Speaker 1 (01:17:15):
Yeah, very well, yeah, well welcome to Chicago, se That's
how it works.
Speaker 10 (01:17:20):
Eastern Michigan University unveiled a Crosby Field yesterday, named, of course,
after Max Crosby and his wife, who were both the
athletic stars at the university. They made a million dollar
donation last year, so congratulations to Max Crosby.
Speaker 2 (01:17:34):
Was Would they have.
Speaker 1 (01:17:35):
Gotten the honor had they not made a million dollars?
Speaker 10 (01:17:38):
I like to think so, because I mean, I don't
know anybody else that's ever played at Michigan Eastern Michigan University,
So thank god?
Speaker 1 (01:17:46):
Why am I forging when I think of Eastern Michigan.
Now I'm trying to think, who am I not? Why
am I blanking on this? There's somebody from east that
that I jesus their Boykins?
Speaker 2 (01:18:00):
Me, No, that's about it.
Speaker 1 (01:18:01):
It's pretty much Max.
Speaker 10 (01:18:04):
I mean, Earl Boykins is a NBA two K superstar
in my household.
Speaker 2 (01:18:08):
Charlie Batch.
Speaker 1 (01:18:09):
There you go, Charlie batchlie long time NFL quarterback Charlie Batch.
Speaker 3 (01:18:15):
So U T J.
Speaker 1 (01:18:18):
Lang Also another another one.
Speaker 9 (01:18:20):
From from Eastern Michigan named the mascot Eastern Michigan.
Speaker 1 (01:18:26):
That's easy. The Barks close the Eagles, I know, it's
the Eagles.
Speaker 2 (01:18:33):
By the way, is there an Ardvark?
Speaker 1 (01:18:35):
There's the one of the schools out here I believe
is the ant Eaters, which is yeah, yeah, that's my
buddy went to UC air Vine. He's like, I'm an
ant Eater, like I've heard, but leave that alone.
Speaker 2 (01:18:52):
The point is, yeah, Ardvark.
Speaker 1 (01:18:55):
Is there any Ardvark mascots out there trying to find out? Well?
Speaker 2 (01:19:00):
Whatever, if your school is the ard Maark.
Speaker 1 (01:19:03):
Congratulations, you've just made national radio.
Speaker 10 (01:19:05):
Is there a better example of a coach like stretching
the truth than Rob Ryan recently saying that Max Rosby's
the greatest defender he's ever seen.
Speaker 1 (01:19:14):
He's a Ryan. Like nobody loves their own players like
the Ryan brothers. Like he gave what was his name,
James Connor, He gave him the terminator nickname his brother
Rex did. Rex even got Mark Sanchez's tattoo on him, Like,
I mean, listen, they love their players like so the
Ryan boys loved their players, just like Buddy Ryan loved
(01:19:35):
his player. That's right.
Speaker 10 (01:19:36):
What else we got in some personal news speaking of
Chicago sports, two months after the draft, the Caleb Williams
Bears jersey that I ordered will finally be arriving this week,
so shout out to fanatics timely delivery on that one.
Speaker 1 (01:19:50):
Did you get the home or the away home? Did
you always? She went the blue?
Speaker 10 (01:19:54):
I might get the the retro throwback Romo Dunese. We'll
see how that goes.
Speaker 1 (01:19:59):
Oh, that'll only Cowshi about four thousand dollars. You know,
with inflation, that's always fun. Jonas Son of a Bitch
