Speaker 3 (00:25):
Moncie.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
We came in today thinking we have way too much
to talk about in a short amount of time.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
We really really do. So I'm excited to see how
you're going to handle this driver.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Okay, well, we're going to share this responsibility, I promise you.
You know what's interesting to me about what we're watching
today in week three, actually week two of the college
football season is these traditional rivalry games with all the
split ups of all the conferences. I mean, you've got
the Civil War Oregon Oregon State going on, you got
(00:56):
the Apple Cup, Washington State and Washington going on. These
are usually the kind of matchups we would see in
the final games of the season, but with the explosion
of the Pac twelve, where you had four teams go
to the Big ten four schools go to the Big twelve.
Stanford and Cal end up in the AC. See, all
of a sudden, you want to maintain these matchups, but
(01:19):
you can't do it with your conference schedules. So instead
of that the end of the schedule, you got to
get rid of it during the non conference portion of
your schedule. So it just seems weird to be watching,
especially these PAC twelve schools that I've been watching literally
my entire life, have these matchups in week two.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
I mean, isn't it though a little bit exciting to
have these matchups early on? Doesn't it just make the
season a little bit more exciting? And you know, I
don't even think we're going to have time to talk
about the PAC twelve coming back to life, Steve.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
It might not be dead after all. It may be back.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
All right, Well, let me ask you, because Chris and
I earlier were talking about this. By the way, technically
it is week three, so let's make that clear, all right.
So we had the news about there is a future
seemingly for the PAC twelve Washington State and Oregon State.
Remember how this all played out for them, They basically
had to adopt a mountain West schedule this season to
(02:13):
have a schedule, and then they were denied the opportunity
to do it again next season, which means both of
them are scrambling with really an independent type schedule. But now,
all of a sudden, four schools San Diego State, Boise State,
Fresno State, and Colorado State.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
That's right, yes it is.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
So they have already committed. I believe it's in the
twenty six to twenty seven season.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
Yes, that's when it's the idea is though, is going
to start. Then they still need two more schools.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
Well, the obvious schools are Stanford and cow Right, I mean,
I mean Stanford and cow A is sitting out there
in the ACC. No, no, no, come back, come back, Okay,
there's no reason for Stanford and col to having to
haul their asses all the way across the country to
the Atlantic coast. I would imagine they're on the with
(03:00):
Stanford and cal saying, look, we're sorry how this all
worked out. We understand why you joined the ACC, but
come back, come on back.
Speaker 4 (03:07):
Yes, we're bringing it all back to life and you
should be a part of it, which is good.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
I'm glad.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
I'm glad to see that. So a future for the
Pac twelve. But anyway, that's some of the games that
we've had going on. Oregon State, by the way, I
thought today at home, you know, sort of that's a
pretty good team in Oregon State, and you know they
were two to zero come in and not ranked but
playing pretty well. And I thought, wow, they're going to
be at home today against Oregon.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
That did not look good. The first couple of weeks.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
In cor vallis almost a payback against Oregon because you
left us for the big time in the Big ten.
I really thought the Beavers were in a good position today,
but it has been all Oregon is thirty two to
fourteen Ducks right now with four minutes going the third quarter,
and Dylan Gabriel, who certainly came in as one of
the Heisman favorites this year, is having a dynamite game today.
(03:58):
How about seventeen nineteen, two hundred and six yards and
a touchdown with no interception.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
So it started fifteen or fifteen, so it took a
minute for him to miss out.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
This is the Oregon team we've been waiting for when
they were a preseason number three. So yeah, we have
a lot of college football We're going to obviously get
to during the course of our show today, but obviously
there is a lot of NFL news to get to,
and Monci there is one story that is absolutely dominated
after the Thursday night game. There were two stories in
(04:29):
that game. One Buffalo. If there was any doubt, remember
a year ago, a lot of people just thought Buffalo's
window is closing people.
Speaker 4 (04:38):
A lot of those people, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
I wasn't buying it.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
I mean, I had Buffalo securely winning the AFC East
this year, and by the way, they didn't play an
overwhelming game.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
Wasn't like that.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
But three turnovers, obviously, the three picks by Tua really
sealed the fate for the Dolphins. But then Tua, you know,
last year he started all seventeen games, and I think
a lot of people assumed after the earlier concussion problems
that that was behind him.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
And it was amazing.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
It wasn't that Hamlin of all people made the hit
and it didn't seem I mean, sometimes you see a
hit and you're like, wow, that was bad. It didn't
seem to be that kind of a hit. But instantly
you knew too it was in trouble. And if you're
thinking to yourself. He just maybe one of those guys
(05:33):
that has the disposition that if he's hit in the head,
even if it doesn't seem like a violent hit, he
could be very susceptible to concussions.
Speaker 3 (05:42):
And now it comes down to decision time.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
It was a terrible moment because the hit didn't look
so bad. I think it made it worse.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
You knew right away. Everyone knew right away.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
The players took a knee immediately, and the camera didn't
go away fast enough where you saw his arm kind
of clench, kind of stand out. It all happened, and
everyone knew right away, and it was my you know,
your soul, your your stomach felt to the pit because
the hit was not bad. How many times do we
see a hit when you're like, ooh, that was a
(06:13):
bad hit, And this one just looked like, hey, it
was a hit, And everybody wonders why he didn't slide,
and it's like, I don't know why he didn't slide,
but it does make you wonder if Tua is at
this point in his life where he is going to
be more prone to that a lot more easily, which
is what they say once you've had your first concussion.
The others come a lot faster, a lot easier. And
(06:35):
it's crazy because he did play the entire season. We
didn't see this happen. So it was surprising, I think,
but heart wrenching and awful. I don't I hated the
conversation that immediately ensued right after that, which was a
lot of people saying what he should or shouldn't shouldn't do,
which is retire or not, and I hate it. That
was like, guys, let him. It's none of our business.
(06:57):
It's I don't know what it's like to be competitive
and to play at the highest level of competitiveness and
then have to make this decision. And so it's like,
if he decides to keep playing, that's then he's gonna
keep playing it. I don't think we should tell him otherwise.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
I know it was a very different situation. But when
paid Manning had the next surgery done, and I remember
the year that he sat out, and we had multiple
doctors on talking about that surgery and the dangers potential
dangers for him coming back, and it wasn't a pretty picture.
(07:35):
And you're thinking, all right, I mean, he's already had
a Hall of Fame career, there's no reason for him
to come back none.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
I mean, he's done it, he did.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Everything, He'd won a super Bowl, he'd won all those
MVP Awards. It was no reason for him to come back,
but he did. He ends up with the Denver Broncos
and at least for a couple of years, had literally
the greatest seasons of his entire career, and even after
his arm felt basically fell off at that last moment,
and he ends up winning one more super Bowl. Look,
this is a decision that two is going to have
(08:04):
to make with his family, obviously, the people that are
closest to him, to have a real discussion about that. Obviously,
he's going to have to confer with doctors. Why am
I experiencing these extremes? A lot of guys get hit
and they're not having the same reaction that I'm having.
It's like a boxer. You know, some guys could take
(08:25):
a punch. I mean guys, you know they called a
granite chin where they get hit right on the button
and barely flinch. Other guys go down instantly.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
Why is that? Who knows?
Speaker 2 (08:36):
We're all different, obviously, but this is something and I
think his teammates the organization, the Dolphins organization are not
going to argue whatever decision he makes. It's not about money,
this is about his health, this is about his future
of a young man. So look, the decision ultimately is
going to be up to him, as it should be,
(08:58):
and I don't think the Dolphins in any way are
going to try to influence that decision.
Speaker 4 (09:03):
I don't think so either. I think everyone is just
going to like you said, he's going to talk to
the people that matter the most, and there's no rush here.
He should get all the opinions. In fact, like if
you want to read what your biggest fans are saying
that you've never met, Like, I think that that's like,
take this one day at a time and really process it.
Because it's a big decision to walk away from the game,
whether he wants to do it or not.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
So it sucks, and I hope he doesn't feel that he.
Speaker 4 (09:29):
Needs to rush through it. I think I hope he
just takes this time.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
We've seen more and more players now retire. Early part
of it is the finances because obviously two has already
made a lot of money. Look what added Andrew Luck,
I mean, Andrew Luck came back from an injury, had
a healthy season, ready to go with the rest of
his career, and he walked away.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
Yeah, he never looked again. No, I just didn't want
to go through it.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
I mean, he was a smart guy.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
He had other plans in life beyond sports, and he
had made that he cleared before he even went to
the NFL. You know, with Stanford, he had stayed in
next year at Stanford when he didn't have to because
he wanted that education, and he made it pretty clear
to everybody this is not going to be You're not
going to see me hanging around for fifteen twenty years,
and he ended up retiring. So we're gonna get much
(10:13):
more on the situation as far as two is concerned

Steve Harvey, Monciblanios Here Fox Football Saturday. We are live
from the Tairaq dot com studios. We'll get you up
data on the big college football day. But we are
talking some NFL right now, and who better then to
check in. He's so kind every single week he is
here when we ask him to be our Fox Sports
(12:14):
Radio NFL insider. Adam Kaplan joins us right now. Adam,
we got a lot to talk to you about, but
let's start with the Toist situation. So Mantzin obviously talking
about you know, he has to make a decision that's
best for him, you know, and obviously I think the
Dolphins will support whatever decision he makes. I want to
ask you, though, about the business side of Tuu's situation
(12:36):
with the Dolphins. Where exactly does that stand if indeed
he were to step away.
Speaker 7 (12:42):
Well, they would have an issue with the guaranteed money.
And as you ask me, I have a contract in
front of me, so they can't ask for part of
his signing bonus back, which is pro rated. The signing
bonus is forty two million. If they want to do that,
they can do that. That's a fair game. If he
decides to retire, it's just going to come down to
how they address it if he if he decides to retire,
(13:05):
or if he takes If he's out.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
Two months, he's out two months. He can't do anything.
Speaker 7 (13:09):
But if he decides to walk away, whatever they've paid
him so far in terms of a signing bonus, they
could ask for the future money. That's that's what happens
when guys retire on their own. It look, it's the
bottom line. It's it's sad and scary. These are brain injuries.
I've covered concussions now for twenty five years talking to
(13:29):
former players. In fact, the first thing I ask a
former player when they retire is how you're feeling.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
Always do it.
Speaker 7 (13:35):
It's been sort of my deal for years, and I
work with players that'll come back from concussions, and it's
very scary, guys. I mean, it's it's scary. That was
a shock or the last time, if you remember, it
was a big controversy the last time too, I had
a concussion.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
Yeah, unfortunate situation to see too and go through that
already and started the season. Let's shift over to the
forty nine ers. Week one is about to start. We're
hearing that maybe Christian McCaffrey is gonna play.
Speaker 3 (14:02):
They allude to it. I feel like we have been bamboozled.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
Here's what happened.
Speaker 7 (14:08):
Okay, So basically, let me go back to training camp.
He wound up missing most of the training camp with
a calf issue. He had a calf issue late last season.
People forget there was an issue with him. I'm gonna
say mid to late December, and now it moved up
to his achilles area and he was in a lot
of pain yesterday.
Speaker 1 (14:26):
So they've been trying to manage it. That's why he
missed most of August.
Speaker 7 (14:29):
But it's got progressively worse where they put so they
put him on IR today. This is not a secret.
This is going to happen. They don't believe he needs surgery.
But the problem is now they don't have a timeline.
He's just going to take treatment. He may see a specialist.
This is a unique injury. It's not a it's going
(14:49):
from the calf going down above its foot right where
his achilles is, and you can't run as a running back.
Speaker 1 (14:57):
You can't do anything with it.
Speaker 7 (14:59):
They're very lucky that they have a great system with
Jordan Mason, who comes out of nowhere as an on
director free agent. Isaac Carendo I was backing him up.
Is really fast and explosive. He was a guy out
of Louisville, one of the fastest backs of the draft.
So they're good hands, but they lose that playmaking ability,
which is why you're seeing Deebo Samuel get the ball
more in the backfield.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
All right, so you were hyping me on the Jets.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
Seventh three?
Speaker 2 (15:24):
Now, all right, go ahead, Okay, So look, I'm less
concerned about Aaron Rodgers. It certainly didn't help him. The
guys are literally dropping the ball. I'm sure his frustration
was immense. Uh. And then he did get I mean,
he's the king on busted plays. You know, they blow
the whistle and everyone stands around. He's like, I'm going
to get a touchdown out of this, which he did.
(15:46):
But you mentioned Jordan Mason one hundred and forty seven
yards rushing against that great Jets defense. They gave up
over four hundred yards to a team that did not
have Christian McCaffrey one hundred and eighty yards on the ground.
The forty nine ers averaged four point seven yards per carry.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
Are you sure that Jets defense, though, is as good
as you think it is?
Speaker 7 (16:07):
Listen, folks, I've learned my lesson with week one. You
got to pick it for what it is.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
It's a game.
Speaker 7 (16:12):
The Jet's defense looked terrible. The Jet offense couldn't move
the football like they wanted to.
Speaker 5 (16:20):
Look.
Speaker 7 (16:20):
It was a bad performance and thrankly for them. They
face a very bad Tennessee team which totally choked. See
we were talking about this last week. We'll talk about
some things that happened last week. What an awful loss.
I mean, Tennessee's got to be embarrassed. Caleb Williams could
not have played any worse. How bad were these Brookie quarterbacks?
Speaker 2 (16:35):
I mean they were actually I think Jaye and Daniels
might have been the best of them, and he ran
it well. But Caleb Williams for him to be like
saluting the crowd afterwards, he was awful. I mean, you
talk about really deer in the headlights.
Speaker 3 (16:50):
I was shocked.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
I mean he really had the deer in the headlights.
But I mean, how do you see this game matched up.
I mean, like you say, have a Titans team that's
hurting after a game they should have won, and a
Jets team that just seemed to be out of sorts
and looks. It's a hard place to play obviously cross
country against a team like the forty nine ers, but
it was far from what a lot of people expected
(17:12):
would expect this week with the Jets and Titans.
Speaker 7 (17:14):
Well, guys, part of the reason why the quarterback numbers
were so bad, almost historically bad for Week one.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
I mean, you look at well Levis. He had a
really bad game, terrible game he was.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
It was at the worst interception of all time.
Speaker 5 (17:26):
You know.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
I let me give you something here, guys.
Speaker 7 (17:28):
So I was with the Titans for two days, so
I was just talking to them in training camp when
I was there and just get an idea of what
Levis it looked like. And I was there when the
Seahawks are there for joint practice. So the word I
got was they're looking for consistency. Too many highs, too
many like he does it. He's just not consistent quarterback
(17:49):
all over the place with his accuracy, drops his eyes.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
He's got a long way to go here. Now.
Speaker 7 (17:55):
One thing I know they're not talking about this now,
but I could tell you Mason Rudolph, who beat out
Milik Willis, who was traded to the Packers. Uh, we're
gonna see what this team looks like by min season.
If you like two and six, do not be surprised
if Mason Rudolph takes over.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
That's how bad it looked. I mean it would be.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
I mean, Mason Rudolph, who's had an incredibly forgettable career,
he looked pretty good down the stretch for the Steelers.
Speaker 7 (18:19):
He did No, that's my point. He and I know
that he. I mean, it wasn't even there was like,
really no competition. Malik Willis was so far away from
being ready to play. Packer fans get used to it
for a short period here. You better hope that somehow
loves ready the following week, because Milik Willis, I'd be shocked.
I'd be shocked if he played well tomorrow. We'll see
against the Colts, but I don't see it.
Speaker 4 (18:41):
Speaking of underwhelming performances by quarterbacks, Joe Burrow and the
Bengals lost.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
Little Patriots in Week one. Survivor pools crying all over
the world.
Speaker 4 (18:50):
Yeah, are you worried about the Bengals.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
Are you we should be?
Speaker 4 (18:53):
Should we be worried about Burrow's hand?
Speaker 7 (18:56):
This is a yeah, well the rest yeah, it's This
is a another one where Joe Barr historically has gone
off the really bad starts.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
And with Jamar Chase.
Speaker 7 (19:06):
They knew Friday, I'm told last Friday that he was
going to play. They didn't know how many snaps he'd have.
He had way more many hey, way more snaps than
we probably thought he would.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
They were totally out.
Speaker 7 (19:15):
Of sync and now look New Orleand's running the same
scheme that they ran out of Belichick. They did a
phenomenal job. Gave him credit. The New Zealand had a
very economical passing game. It was non existent. They they
found a way to win. It was just a see again,
it's week one. Joe Barr was going to be there.
You know, I wish they were playing this chief game
like week fifteen. It's too bad now that this game
(19:37):
is in week two, the Bengals look totally out of sorts.
This this look again it's week one and I know
coaches talking to some coaches this week or unfortunately some
teams that.
Speaker 1 (19:48):
Lost oh and two is really difficult.
Speaker 7 (19:52):
Owen three's forget about it, the history of making the
playoffs when your own three is very small.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
There's gonna be a lot of urgency tomorrow, folks.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
Joe Burrow wants to skip the first couple of weeks.
He's one in eight now terrible and week one or
two games could be one to nine after this week.
Eagles hosting the Falcons this week. I watched that Falcons game.
Talk about ugly quarterback performances. Kirk Cousins with the Falcons
bears no resemblance to the guy we saw with the Vikings.
He seemed to have the ball sail on him, which
(20:22):
means he's not getting planted on that damaged leg. I
still don't know what the Falcons were thinking on signing
a guy after a blown Achilles, But I don't know.
I mean, what were your impressions, because it just seemed
to me like he didn't have the same zip on
the ball. The ball was sailing on him, and that
tells me he's a quarterback that isn't really getting that
(20:45):
plant foot down to deliver the goods.
Speaker 7 (20:48):
All right, so Steve, he claims, And I know Chase Daniel,
the former NFL journeyman quarterback, he's not doing some great
media work, broke down his tape and felt like he
was the Chilles was a problem, but Kirk not only
denied it, he actually gave really good information that they
started doing shotgun with him, which he's barely done in
his career by the way. They started doing in the
(21:09):
ots and doing it ever since. So it made no
one's ever seen him do this before. So it made
him look like he was favoring one leg over the other.
And that's fine. But the Eagles, as you mentioned, they've
seen this tape. Now, I'm interested Vic Fanger the defense corner.
He doesn't blitz there. Everywhere he's been it's usually low
(21:29):
blitz percentage. I'm gonna test him. I'm gonna test him.
I'm really I know the Falcons are pretty good to tackle,
but I'm gonna try it. I'm gonna bring the heat
a little bit. I'm gonna do something to make him move.
He cannot move, by the way. He never could move. Now,
last year he did very well against the Eagles, he
had four touchdowns. But this actually he'll be facing them
(21:49):
three years in a row. Two Minnesota and obviously won
with Atlanta, So no one thing whichhould mentioned. A. J.
Brown he his hamstring tightened up yesterday, so he didn't
work today today. Was they practice to Mars'll walkthrough and
it's backup. Johnny Wilson a six round of Florida State.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
He went up.
Speaker 7 (22:05):
Something happened before practice day. He's got a hamstring problem.
So they're a little bit light receiver. That does concern
me for the matchup.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
So week one, the Lions went to ot with the Rams.
No Aaron Donald for the Rams, but they held their owns.
Were you more impressed by the Rams or disappointed with
the Lions?
Speaker 1 (22:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (22:23):
I thought they I thought the lines would handle them
a little bit better. Yeah, yeah, I would a great factor.
If you remember that the Lions were up seventeen to
three and it looked like they were going to roll,
and then the third, third and half of the fourth
quarter they were struggling three and now they just couldn't
get anything done.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (22:38):
I was a little bit disappointed, but you know, it's
week one. Jameson Williams hurt his ankle. He actually he
played through it. I gave the guy credit. He was
limited this week, but that was an interesting game that
was a fun game. The Rams have all sorts of
problems with their offensive line. Three starters are out. That's
that's not good for the Rams. Now they faced a
(22:59):
Cardinal team that's not very good. But John McGannon, the
head coach of the Cardinals, who it's his defense though
he's got a younger protegie calling the defense. And they're
going to face the Rams and the Cardinal's going to
have their home opener. It's another team like you got
to bring the heat, like these coaches, when you know
something's bad on the other team's opposite on the offensive line,
(23:20):
you got to bring the heat here.
Speaker 3 (23:21):
All right?
Speaker 2 (23:21):
As I continue to embarrass myself a year after year
after year with bad predictions when it comes to the NFL,
one of the things I talked about is you know
come down players, And I said, you know one guy
that can almost guarantee is going to come down from
a year ago as Baker Mayfield. I mean, he's notorious
because he's a guy that you know, seems to come
(23:42):
up with those big seasons when his career is on
the line, and then he saves his career. He did
this in college, he did this in the NFL, and
then he opens the season twenty four to thirty two
and eighty nine yards, four touchdowns, no picks in that
win against the Commanders. What do you if you're the
Lions defen getting ready for Baker Mayfield, what should they expect?
Speaker 1 (24:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (24:03):
That was really impressive. Now I do want to tell
you you talk about what to expect. The Buccaneers offensive
line was phenomenal. They gave him time and he delivered
accurately on time.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
They dominated it.
Speaker 7 (24:15):
I also to give their defense credit, the revamped second
or and the Bucks have some injuries in their secondary
that worries me.
Speaker 1 (24:22):
But let's not forget folks.
Speaker 7 (24:23):
That playoff game, the Bucks absolutely pushed the Lions. In fact,
that game, the Lions had to come to the Lions.
They were ti going in the fourth courd. I remember
that game was that was late in January, and I
was surprised at how well the Bucks played that week.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
But look, the lines are a little bit beat up here.
This is if.
Speaker 7 (24:45):
You want to look at highlight matchup for Week two,
that's one of them. I don't think there's really when
you look at it, there aren't a lot of good ones.
The Bengals one, As I said, earlier. I wish this
was later in the season. I would tell you the
best matchup of the day, at least on paper, is
that Bucks Liones game in Detroit.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
Well see how that works out. Great stuff, I mean
I feel exhausted already.
Speaker 3 (25:05):
What is it week two?
Speaker 2 (25:06):
I mean, yeah, we got seventy more weeks to get through. Adam,
great stuff is as We'll check in with you next week.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
Thanks so much.
Speaker 2 (25:14):
That's Adam Kaplan or Fox Sports Radio NFL Insider.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
All right, let's find out what is a trending right now?
Speaker 2 (25:20):
Once say, I gotta apologize to our dear friend Martin here,
because you know, he was getting ready to do an update,
you know, Alex and Cartman doing their show, and and I, I,
you know, I, you know me, I like to walk
into unannounced. But the light wasn't on. But the light
it was I was. There's no clock in the hallway,
so I don't see a light on. So I walk
(25:41):
in and literally Martin turns to me as he's about
to start his update, like, hey, you know, can I
can I focus here please?
Speaker 1 (25:55):
I threw my.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
Hands up in the air and I was not singling touchdown.
I'll just say that.
Speaker 4 (26:00):
Yes, it was like, dude, come on, he's so unaware
when he walks in.
Speaker 5 (26:03):
There.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
There's times where I turn around like hold your thoughts, Like,
hold your thoughts, I gotta do this.
Speaker 2 (26:08):
It was extremely rude to me, but I again, if
i'd seen the light on, obviously I wasn't gonna do it.
But I literally walked in as you're about to start
your updates.
Speaker 8 (26:16):
It was zero zero fifteen o'clock and I'm hearing the
noise and I'm like, why the door opening? What's going
on here?
Speaker 3 (26:26):
Yes?
Speaker 8 (26:26):
See, Monty has an open door policy. When she's sitting
behind the desk.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
I do not.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
I do well, no, literally my door Bryan family keeps
the door open, so he literally invites people in. But
I mean, yeah, I h I didn't say anything though.
It wasn't like I said something.
Speaker 8 (26:44):
But yeah, I'm sorry about that. It's all right, it's
all right. Your apology has been well received.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
Thank you so much. I appreciate you.
Speaker 9 (26:50):
Also try to blame me, by the way.
Speaker 2 (26:52):
Yeah, yeah, well anyway I could get off, yeah the hook.
Speaker 3 (26:56):
She's like, Mary mac just walking. No, you just walked in,
you did you know? You did? Anyway?
Speaker 8 (27:03):
Civil War ten forty five left in the fourth quarter
between Oregon and Oregon State, the nine three team in
the nation, the Ducks forty six to fourteen. This was
a much closer game than that until halftime, and then
Oregon just kind of opened it up, waiting to see
the offensive explosion out of the Ducks.
Speaker 3 (27:17):
Well, here you are, two lane in Oklahoma.
Speaker 8 (27:20):
Oklahoma jumped out too way to what is that twenty
three to six lead? I'm sorry, twenty one to six
lead at the half? Two lane storming back right now,
nineteen to twenty four. Oklahoma does have the ball third
and seven, well, eleven to fifteen left in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 3 (27:34):
Two lane trying to fight back.
Speaker 8 (27:35):
Here, no fighting back for the Perdue boiler Makers, fifty
nine to sell Notre Dame, the eighteen to three team
in the nation, fighting Irish, pounding Perdue by.
Speaker 3 (27:45):
Fifty two points fifty do yeah, you think they're trying
to make up for what happened last week.
Speaker 8 (27:51):
I mean we all remember Notre Dame. We all saw it. Yeah,
it doesn't quite matter. This game was delayed to weather
for quite some time, but Texas A and M with
a twin nothing lead over Florida, hearing chance of fire
Billy out of the swamp. I saw a little DJ
Lagway play Graham Merches back in there, but yeah, fire Billy.
The general feeling at Ben Hill Stadium right now down
(28:13):
there at Florida. Earlier today, we saw Jalen Melroe have
four total touchdowns as Alabama, the fourth to three team
in the nation, pounded Wisconsin forty.
Speaker 3 (28:21):
Two to ten.
Speaker 8 (28:22):
Missouri handed Bill O'Brien and Boston College its first loss
of the season twenty seven to twenty one.
Speaker 3 (28:28):
Oklahoma State we Tulsa forty five to ten.
Speaker 8 (28:31):
A Cowboys quarterback Alan Bowman was just short of four
in the yards passing at five touchdown.
Speaker 3 (28:35):
Steve Quick, Where did Alan Bowman go to college? Last year?
That I would not know?
Speaker 8 (28:40):
I got to University of Michigan. Now he do three
five touchdowns and almost four hundred yards against Tulsa.
Speaker 3 (28:45):
What happened here? He went to University of Michigan. The
play Obviously he didn't play much, did he?
Speaker 8 (28:50):
No, he did not, But you know, you know what
he'd be doing right now, starting as Davis Warren through
three interceptions against Arkansas State.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
I understand this. Five of the last six quarterbacks to
win the Heisman on the heysom with the school they
did not start their college career with.
Speaker 8 (29:03):
Well, one of them could have feel free to transfer
to Michigan.
Speaker 3 (29:07):
Kaysk right now has at the quarterback position. Nothing.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
Well, when they say they have two quarterbacks, that means
you have no quarterback, Well they.
Speaker 8 (29:14):
Got no, they got to make now. I didn't want
to get into it. Yeah, I don't even want to
get into it. Davis warren Is needs to be going
pro and something else other than sports. He had three interceptions,
got bench today and a twenty point win? How about
that against Arkansas State?
Speaker 3 (29:29):
I'm sorry?
Speaker 8 (29:29):
A ten point win against Arkansas State twenty eight to eighteen.
And Jordan Love downgraded to doubtful for tomorrow's game against
the Colts. And Christian McCaffrey now on injured reserve. He'll
miss at least the next four weeks. Four Florida just
scored here. That makes the score down there in the
swamp twenty to six, extra point pending.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
Did you watch the special on the signed Steeler from Michigan.
Speaker 3 (29:51):
Have you seen that? I did not see it yet yet.
I've not seen it yet. I watched it very Steeler.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
Well, I mean, this is an incredible story about this guy.
Speaker 3 (29:59):
It really is.
Speaker 2 (29:59):
But look, if I was a Michigan fan, I would
be hanging on to twenty twenty three forever.
Speaker 3 (30:05):
So I have no argument with that.
Speaker 8 (30:06):
Yeah, you see, I'll give you my ring finger salute
right there there, very similar to the middle finger salute, Stephen.
Speaker 2 (30:12):
It's the ring Yes, I'm going to split the uprights
right there. All right, very good, outstanding stuff as always, Martin,
despite the distraction earlier because of me. Once again, we
are live from the tirerac dot Com studio Steve Hartman
and Monci Blanios here with Fox Football Saturday.
Speaker 3 (30:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (30:29):
Notre Dame obviously trying to make up for that really
inexplicable loss at home to Northern Illinois. And this is
a huge rivalry game. Purdue is upset Notre Dame many
many times over the years, really good Notre Dame teams.
So this is a longtime rivalry of these two Indiana
state schools. And it is obvious that they were read
(30:50):
the Riot Act after last week fifty nine to seven.
Speaker 3 (30:53):
Notre Dame just blowing out Purdue.
Speaker 4 (30:55):
But like you said, they needed to do it, they
needed to do it now.
Speaker 3 (30:58):
No now, yeah, a couple of weeks from now. It
had to be done.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
You know, we were talking a little bit earlier with Adam
Kaplan about some of these games around the NFL.
Speaker 3 (31:07):
You know, it's you know, you get to week.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
Two, week three, you know, these are the weeks where
it's sort of like, all right, this team is a
lot better than we thought, or a team is a
lot worse. You were talking earlier about this matchup between
the Bengals and the Chiefs.
Speaker 9 (31:25):
And.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
I mean, I picked Joe Burrow to be the most
Valuable Players, So did I And.
Speaker 3 (31:31):
We didn't know we were picking that. I was we
did an individual.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
I just felt like he's healthy. He really wasn't. He
was never healthy last year. I know he missed the
back half of the schedule, but he never really was
healthy during the course of that season. So I mean,
for them to lose at home to New England, who,
by the way, I picked us the worst team, so
it's right side by side, I got worst team in
the NFL, New England Patriots, MVP Joe Burrow, and then
(31:56):
Cincinnati loses at home to the Patriots. You know, hopefully
that's not an omen for the Bengals, but I don't
know what you know. You look at this game, you're like, Wow,
this is not a good place for the Bengals to
get well on the road against the Chiefs. The thing
about the Chiefs, look, they look at this as a
matchup that's a rivalry. The Bengals have beaten them in
big games, none bigger obviously than that AFC Championship game
(32:20):
a couple of years ago. So it's not like they're
going to overlook the Bengals. But sometimes you take the
field against a team we don't have the supreme confidence
that a team like the Chiefs seemingly has against every
team they play. This is the one team when they
take the field where there's just a little bit of doubt,
(32:41):
like why have we had a hard time against this
Bengals team. I think that is going to be absolutely
the game of the day.
Speaker 4 (32:49):
Yeah, because you have to take into consideration that Jamar
Chase was out of sync. He hadn't really practiced because
of the contract situation, so that's a big factor. Also,
Joe Burrow hadn't played in how long, Like all that matters.
I know I'm four preseason games, but I know they
don't replicate the exact atmosphere that they're going through. So,
like Adam said, it's just week one. I also, you know,
(33:10):
the Chiefs, we talked about it. They seem to kind
of play to the level of their opponent.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
They show up when they need they show up.
Speaker 4 (33:18):
When they need to, and so I don't know how
they're approaching this if they're thinking they can take their
foot off the gas. But I hope they're not, because
it is Joe Burrow and the Bengals and maybe one
week is all they needed to get into a little
bit of sink.
Speaker 3 (33:31):
And the Chiefs, yeah.
Speaker 4 (33:33):
Like they don't you know, they're fine, But do they
stand out amongst other teams. No, Right, they just find
a way to win, whether it's pretty or not. They
find a way to win.
Speaker 2 (33:44):
Now, if the Chiefs blow out the Bengals, then then
we got a different store.
Speaker 4 (33:47):
Then we do have a different conversation, even though.
Speaker 3 (33:49):
About both these teams.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
Yes, but yeah, I just I get a sense that
we're going to see a much different Bengals team than
we saw against New England, even on the road against
Kansas City, where by the way, the way, there's going
to be hot okay here, it's going to be upper
radis and you know the humidity. No Kansas City can
get brutal. All right, coming up on the other side,
(34:11):
it is time for a Heisman update. Keep it here.
This is Fox Football Saturday.
Speaker 5 (34:18):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot Com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
Steve Harvey Montzi, Belgia is here Fox Football Saturday once again,
company live from the tire Raq dot com studios. Okay,
it's that time. I don't know have I mentioned this before?
Did I have an actual Heisman vote?
Speaker 3 (34:47):
I don't think you've mentioned it today.
Speaker 2 (34:49):
I just want to clarify it. You know a lot
of people do their Heisman picks, but not many of
them actually have a Heisman vote, right right, So MANSI,
this year, I'm going to allow you to witness me
doing my Heisman.
Speaker 3 (35:05):
It's very exciting, yes, very exciting.
Speaker 2 (35:07):
As I've said, the way the ballots are sent to
you now there is a code to get there are
multiple codes to get actually into your ballot, and I
have to say the nuclear codes have to be less complicated.
Speaker 3 (35:22):
So it's all digital.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
Everything's digital. Now, and you have to fill out first, second,
and third. If you don't, if you go just first, second,
and first, it's thrown out.
Speaker 4 (35:31):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (35:33):
Obviously they have to be They could be any level
of college, any level, it could be anyia. It doesn't
matter as long as they're legitimate college players. But yeah,
it's it's complicated just to get in. I mean, sometimes
you see symbols and you're like, is that even on
my keyboard?
Speaker 3 (35:48):
Are you sure that's?
Speaker 2 (35:49):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (35:49):
There it is.
Speaker 3 (35:50):
I've never used that one before.
Speaker 2 (35:51):
All right, So each week I want to update you
on where I stand with the top three Heisman candidates
in my opinion going into each week. This is always
up to the minute. Here is my current number three.
Speaker 10 (36:06):
Ward from the right hashwad clips it out right side,
Chris jo Justin's got it. He's at the five man
Chris Joseph Tens is under the end zone. Frter Minor
touchdown the rights, out of the n zone nine yards
at Ward has his third touchdown. It's a hat trick
for cave Woard in the Kings, leading twenty one to three.
Speaker 2 (36:22):
That's Miami Hurricanes Radio Network Miami quarterback Cam Ward. He's
had quite an odyssey. To get to Miami member. He
was at Washington State the last couple of years. By
the way, right now Miami leading ball state ten nothing,
he's throwing another touchdown pass. His consistency now in three
games is quite remarkable, only one pick on the season.
Of course, started the season with a big road win
(36:43):
in the Swamp against Florida. Camward Miami quarterback, is my
current number three. Here is my current number two. Give
it to gym Ty up the middle, thirty five.
Speaker 8 (36:54):
Thirty into the clear, fifty thirty ton of down thirty.
Speaker 3 (37:01):
Boise status without a point.
Speaker 11 (37:03):
Ask the gemty seventy yards on a store another gefty touchdown.
Speaker 2 (37:09):
Bob Eller from Learfield right there. If you haven't heard
about him, you will. His name is Ashton Genty, the
junior running back out of Boise State.
Speaker 3 (37:19):
You want to hear some numbers.
Speaker 2 (37:21):
In two games this year, forty five carries for four
hundred and fifty nine yards.
Speaker 3 (37:27):
That's ten point two yards of carry.
Speaker 2 (37:29):
So he is averaging two hundred and thirty yards a
game rushing, and he has nine touchdowns in two games.
Speaker 3 (37:38):
I'm sorry, in two games two? Are you sure this
doesn't include some of last year's This.
Speaker 2 (37:43):
Is by the way, he had a great season last year,
but this season it's literally off the charts. Boise State
running back Ashton genty he is my current number two.
Here is my current number one.
Speaker 7 (37:57):
Second down at eight the Wolverine twenty one on Helm
the time end ships in motion from left to right.
Speaker 1 (38:03):
Viewers from the gun has the snap play action walks on.
Speaker 3 (38:06):
The person now has runing room but froms for the.
Speaker 11 (38:08):
Inso film touchdown Texas, Quinn You were stepped up in
the pocket and fired to strike down the center of
the field and the tight end gunner Helm has.
Speaker 3 (38:19):
The first love born score the game. That's Craig away
from a lear field.
Speaker 2 (38:22):
Yes, Texas quarterback quin youwers off this week, by the way,
after their big road win against Michigan where he threw
three touchdown passes, but actually I give him credit for
four because he threw one at the start of the
game that was nullified by a bogus holding call and
then they missed a field goal. But the great thing
about yours and Texas is there now in the same
(38:44):
conference as Georgia, and that game will be at Texas
mid season actually next month October, Georgia. So when you
talk about Carson Beck, the quarterback at Georgia. Jalen Milroe
almost made the list this week. I was really on
the cuts with Milroy. Had a big day today on
the road against Wisconsin. He's obviously very much in the
(39:08):
mix right now. They're still very very early, but that's
the one I'm looking forward to down the road is
Georgia on the road against Texas, Carson Beck versus quinn Ewers.
That's one of those games that could end up deciding
the Heisman Trophy.
Speaker 4 (39:23):
I'm surprised you actually had our running back in there.
Speaker 3 (39:25):
I'm so happy.
Speaker 2 (39:26):
I get so Ashton Genty last year with Boise State
was second in the nation yards from scrimmage. He had
nineteen touch I had a huge year last year for Boise.
Not eligible for the draft, so obviously comes back for
his junior year. But I mean last week against Oregon
and I watched some of this game. It's not like
Boise's got some dominant offensive line, but this guy gets
(39:48):
a hole gone. He is a guy because you and
my son Garrett share that love of the Chargers. So
I told him about Genty and he's watching the highlights.
I go, how would he look in a Chargers uniform
and he goes, oh, yeah.
Speaker 3 (40:02):
You're already selling it, already selling the idea. I'm not
against it.
Speaker 2 (40:06):
So look for that guy, Ashton Genty. I would love
to see. The last running back to win the Heisman
was Derrick Henry ironically beating out another running back, Christian McCaffrey.
That year they were one two in the voting. Well
year was that twenty fifteen?
Speaker 3 (40:20):
Okay, all right, so it's not that happening, not that
long ago. I thought it was a little bit longer
than that.
Speaker 4 (40:25):
But yeah, it would be nice to see if there
is no standout quarterback, if it constantly keeps switching all
season and this guy stays like this, he's got a
real shot.
Speaker 2 (40:34):
Oh if this guy has two thousand yards rushing, and
that's good.
Speaker 1 (40:38):
Boys.
Speaker 2 (40:38):
State lost that game to Oregon, but it was a
three point game. And as good as Organs looking good,
Organ's up on Oregon State on the road forty nine
to fourteen today, So a three point loss is not
going to kill his Heisman chances. All Right, we got
a lot of NFL news we got to get to
coming up. This is Fox Football Saturday, rolling along on
(40:58):
a super big sports Saturday.
Speaker 3 (41:01):
This is Fox Football Saturday.
Speaker 2 (41:03):
We're broadcasting live from the ti i raq dot com
studios tire rack dot com. We're gonna help get you
there and on match selection, fast free shipping, free road
hazard protection, over ten thousand recommended installers, ti i rack
dot com the way tire buying should be.
Speaker 3 (41:20):
I feel like here we are.
Speaker 2 (41:22):
We got Week three of college football going on right now,
week two of the National Football League, and I feel
like I'm already hyperventilating, like it's it's so much, so soon.
It's just an avalanche of football activity. I mean, there's
other things going on, are you know? I want to
(41:44):
give a shout out to Caitlin Clark, who set the
w NBA record for assist in a season.
Speaker 10 (41:50):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (41:51):
And obviously with Angel Rees getting hurt, there's no question
about Rookie of the Year. Now the question is MVP.
And I made the argument again, look at it. Asia
Wilson obviously has had this incredibly setting a scoring record,
and I think she's the best player in this league
for sure, But does that necessarily make you the most
valuable player? Because when you think of how many viewers
(42:15):
the WNBA has had this year, the interest in the WNBA.
I mean, there's still coverage of the WNBA even in
the midst of football starting. This never happened in the past.
So how do you define who's the most valuable? Because
if you think which player has brought the most to
that league this year, the answer, without question is Caitlin Clark.
Speaker 4 (42:39):
And it's not even what she's done for the league,
it's what she has done for the Fever, who two
years in a row had the number one overall pick
because they were not good. They are now in the playoffs,
they are above five hundred. She not just for the league,
but really she is very, very valuable to what the
Fever are doing. But yeah, Asia Wilson is the best player,
(43:00):
but she's on a back to back championship team and
she's not alone. Even yesterday, Kelsey Plumb, there was a
little bit of of discourse on social media as to
how she answered media questions. But she even said, like,
we just have a lot, we have a stacked team.
We have a stacked team, and they do and still
Asia Wilson is amazing. So I don't see Caitlin Clark
winning the MVP, not because.
Speaker 3 (43:22):
She doesn't deserve it. I just don't see it happen.
I don't see it happening.
Speaker 2 (43:25):
Well, I mean, it's always a question about how do
you define most valuable. One reason I do like what
the NFL does when you have a Most Valuable Player war.
But then you have separate offensive Player of the Year
and Defensive Player of the years. And if you look
at Offensive Player of the year, it rarely matches the MVP.
It seems like the MVP is a quarterback. But you
(43:45):
will give it to like Christian McCaffrey last year. We've
seen receivers win that award. Cooper Cup won it with
his fabulous season a couple of years ago with the Rams.
And then you talk about value, Yeah, the quarterbacks are
the most valuable players in the league when you have
a premier quarterback. Also, we got a lot of baseball
news to get to, and you know we're sitting there
(44:08):
with show Heyo tanis zooming in on what was unthinkable
fifty to fifty. He has forty seven home runs, he
has forty eight stolen bases. He's on pace for fifty
two home runs unless he has a Aaron Judge drought
who finally broke that what was at sixteen games.
Speaker 3 (44:25):
Without a home run long to get.
Speaker 2 (44:28):
Yeah, but we are on the cusp of an achievement
that is so mind boggling by a guy that's already
done mind boggling things. And I even I was doing
a couple of shows this week, people are asking me,
you know, to try to get some perspective on show. Heyotani,
I said, when we talk about him being a unicorn,
(44:50):
that's an app description because here there is no comparison anyone.
Forget the Babe Ruth, No, it's not Babe Ruth Babryth
with a pitcher that and they became an outfielder. There
was very little overlap in that this guy is doing both. Now.
Obviously he's not pitching this year, which is why he decided, well,
you know what, I'm gonna steal fifty bases?
Speaker 5 (45:10):
Why not?
Speaker 2 (45:11):
He never I think his high was twenty six going
into this season. I don't think he'll be stealing fifty
bases next year if he's pitching. But this is a
guy that literally we've never seen anything like him before
and are very unlikely to see anything like him again.
Speaker 4 (45:27):
And wouldn't you even say that Shockingly, he has stepped
up his game offensively, Like if he would have just
stayed as awesome as he was, he would have been like, great,
he's actually better. He is better than what he was
already doing offensively, which is incredible. I don't know if
it's just you. You want to be better when you're
part of an organization that wins. There is no dis
(45:47):
to the Angels, but let's be real. So I'm just
amazed that he's actually even better offensively, and surrounding his
conversation of MVP, the NL race all over the place
is so tight that baseball right now is actually quite exciting.
Speaker 2 (46:04):
Okay, I got to slow down Monci for a second.
Everyone knows that she does works with the Dodgers organization. Okay,
So the last two years of Dodgers are combining one
and six in the playoffs against division rivals, the Podres
and the Diamondbacks. And we've been saying all along, most
likely they would face one of those two teams in
the first round this year. But all of a sudden,
(46:25):
you look at the wildcar race in the National League,
and here come the Mets and the Braves, And so
you got the Podres, the d Backs, the Mets and
the Braves, and they are bunched together. Two of these
teams are going to get in, two are going to
be left out. And I asked Monci off Airr any
preference in any one of these teams that you want
to match up with if you're the Dodgers in that
(46:47):
opening round?
Speaker 3 (46:48):
And I had no answer.
Speaker 4 (46:49):
This is what's making me hyperventilate. Steve, this situation right
now with the Dodgers. When you ask me that, I
was like, I don't I don't know none of them.
Speaker 3 (46:58):
Can I pick? Can I pick a fit?
Speaker 2 (47:00):
In other words, you're not really all that confident with
the diet in the face on what you saw the
last couple of years.
Speaker 4 (47:05):
How can I be? How can I be our pitching staff?
We have seventy two people injured, Like, come on, it's
not it's we're not comfortable. But the good thing is
the Dodgers for many years have gone into the postseason
too comfortable and it has not worked out. So maybe
being uncomfortable headed into October is actually going to help
the Dodgers.
Speaker 2 (47:26):
Another thing, we were conceding the MVP awards to Aaron
Judge and sho Hey Otani, but there's a couple of
guys that have gotten themselves into the conversation. Yes, they
have Francisco Lindor of the Mets. Again, the argument of
a DH versus an everyday player. Yes, And this rebound
(47:46):
season for the Mets obviously very exciting for Mets fans.
And the key guy obviously has been Lindor. I mean
he's always been a really good player. Obviously, you know
he's a possible Hall of Fame or projected down the road.
But again, when we talk about value to a team,
(48:07):
Lindor has really stood out for the Mets.
Speaker 5 (48:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (48:10):
I really don't mind this discussion because I think he
deserves to be in the conversation. A couple of months ago,
the highlight of the Mets was Grimace throwing the first pitch.
That was the highlight for the New York Mets. Grimmace.
Now all of a sudden, they are in it. I'm
pretty sure they have a one game lead on the
Braves right now for the final waldcard spot in the
National League. Francisco Lindor, there's a story that he brought
(48:34):
the team together when they were I don't know how
many games below five hundred, and they were like, he
said to them, we have to get it together, literally
turn the ship around. They put him in the lead
off position, Mets start winning. I mean talk about value, right,
he is the most valuable player on the Mets well.
Speaker 2 (48:50):
And a guy that also could be in the argument
for American League MVP is Bobby Wood June, Bobby Witch Jenny.
The Royals right now are in the playoffs. Yes, he's
about to go thirty thirty. He's already got thirty one
home runs, twenty eight stolen bases, leads the American League
in batting average. You know, Judge all of a sudden slumping.
But I don't know a lot of people that thought
the Royals are gonna be in the postseason right now.
Speaker 3 (49:12):
They're in a position to.
Speaker 2 (49:13):
Do that, and Bobby Wood Junior is having an MVP
type season.
Speaker 4 (49:20):
Not only are the Royals in the playoffs, they have
won eighty two games. Who thought they were gonna win
eighty two games? No one, nobody, And if you did,
it's because you're a Royals fan. I yeah, Bobby Wood
Junior definitely making a case for himself. And with Aaron
Judge's slump, you know, we talk about, like what have
you done for me lately? You're gonna remember what happens
(49:40):
now more than the start of the season. So yeah,
Bobby Wood Junior definitely making a case for himself.
Speaker 2 (49:45):
Well, the thing about with Aaron Judge is, let's not
forget one soda.
Speaker 3 (49:49):
Oh my goodness, it's kept them afloat.
Speaker 2 (49:51):
Well, and that's the whole point, in other words, is
you're sitting down and filling out your mvpvallleve the way
worse the most Valuable player. And by the way, this
has been the case since the beginning, and that's why
there's some validity in using MVP voting and evaluating a
guy's career because you vote won through ten. It's always
been that way since the beginning of the modern MVP
award back in nineteen thirty one. So if you finished
(50:14):
in the top ten, you earn that spot. But I
gotta believe, as you're filling out trying to determine, well,
who's been more valuable to the Yankees this year? Is
it Aaron Judge or is it won Soto. He could
start splitting the vote a little bit and then all
of a sudden, Bobby Wood Junior could sneak in there.
So I think that both of these MVP votes which
(50:35):
seem to be over at the end of August, are
far from it. We'll see how it goes over the
last couple of weeks.
Speaker 4 (50:41):
I mean the fact that despite I think you're right
about the sixteen game slump that Aaron Judge had, He's
only second in batting average to Bobby Witt. He still
leads in homers in the American League ERA runs batted in. Yes,
Bobby wood Unior has more hits than him, but I
don't know if that has as much value as the
other categories.
Speaker 3 (51:00):
Aaron Judge could if Bobby wit.
Speaker 4 (51:02):
Takes a dive, a nose dive to end the season,
and then Aaron Judge all of a sudden gets hot,
he could pass him in batting average.
Speaker 2 (51:11):
By the way, there's no doubt about the Cy Young Awards,
although with scooball of the Tigers and Chris Sale with
the Braves, we actually could have a situation that has
never happened in the history of Major League Baseball where
both leagues have a pitcher that wins the pitching triple crown,
which is wins, strikeouts and e RA. Both of these
(51:33):
guys right now are leading the respected leagues in wins
ERA and strikeouts. I think Cease last night, probably, Yeah,
Cease actually passed Sale by two, but Sale will get
his next start and probably pass him again.
Speaker 3 (51:48):
There's a chance that would be crazy.
Speaker 2 (51:50):
I mean, it's rare that a pitcher pulls off what
we call the pitching triple ground of wins strikeouts in era,
but it's never happened where both leagues have actually had
it happen, and these two pitchers have clearly.
Speaker 3 (52:02):
Been dominant this year with their respective leaks. Yeah, yeah,
something facebook exciting right now.
Speaker 2 (52:09):
It is.
Speaker 3 (52:09):
It is getting to that point.
Speaker 2 (52:11):
But obviously we're Fox Football Saturday for a reason, and
we're gonna get back to exactly what's happening in the
NFL this week too, which teams actually need to do
something this week already have to prove something. This is
Fox Football Saturday. Steve Harvey, Montsei Belanios Here Fox Football Saturday.

Speaker 3 (52:51):
How did your big run go?
Speaker 1 (52:53):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (52:54):
Well, I did it? You did the half marathon? Did
this was the last Sunday? Correct, last Sunday?
Speaker 1 (53:02):
I did?
Speaker 4 (53:03):
I went. I did like a twelve minute mile. I
typically do around a ten minute mile. I ran with
my brother and I kind of stayed with him. I
didn't leave him until mile twelve.
Speaker 3 (53:13):
Well, was it is hot? We had a lot of hot.
Speaker 2 (53:16):
It's actually cooled af dramatically since last week, but last
week was really hot.
Speaker 3 (53:22):
Sweating before I started running. Wow, sweating as I got
out of the car and walked to the start line.
And this is before five am. This was yeah, like
right at five am, it felt really rough.
Speaker 4 (53:33):
And so we both went in to the race without
trying to break our previous records of going fast. We
wanted to kind of take it easy and we did
and we finished. And you know, I don't know if
you heard a guy passed away after crossing the finish
line at seven am, a fit guy who had ran And.
Speaker 2 (53:55):
Well, this happens on almost every marathon. People passed away.
I mean, you're putting your body under a lot of restrain,
and a lot of people don't understand about athletes in
general when you're pushing your body. A lot of times
they have in large hearts. I don't know exactly the circumstances. Yeah,
(54:15):
I love this person that tragically passed away. But yeah,
I mean, you know, you can push your body.
Speaker 5 (54:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (54:21):
When I finished, because I finished before my brother, but he,
like around mile eight, he looked at me, He's.
Speaker 3 (54:27):
Like, you can go. You don't have to run with me,
because he felt that I was going a little slower.
And I was like, no, I'll stick around.
Speaker 4 (54:32):
And so I kind of stuck with him for the
most part, and then finally when I got to mile twelve,
I was like bye, and I like took off. But
when I finished, I sat on the floor for like
twenty minutes. I did not feel well. I felt like
I was going to throw up. I felt and it
was the heat.
Speaker 3 (54:48):
It was it was how hot it was.
Speaker 4 (54:50):
Yeah, And they give you as soon as you cross
the finish line. You know, they give you anything you
could possibly need, ice for if you need ice, something
cold water, a banana, food, They'll give you any thing
you want.
Speaker 3 (55:00):
And I could not the idea of eating something.
Speaker 4 (55:02):
In that moment, I was like, I'm gonna throw up.
I felt it was a heat I had not I
had to sit down Steve for like twenty five minutes
on the floor without moving before I could get myself
to walk to the car.
Speaker 12 (55:13):
Like it was.
Speaker 3 (55:14):
It was intense, but I did it.
Speaker 2 (55:15):
So yeah, well this is why so many of these
long distance runners from Africa, where they're used to training
in extreme.
Speaker 3 (55:23):
Heat can do this.
Speaker 2 (55:25):
Yeah yeah, but even then, I mean, you're you really
put it.
Speaker 3 (55:28):
It's a risk for sure, you will never see me.
Speaker 13 (55:30):
At the starting line ever in a race like that.
I actually try to do like a a three K,
like a five K. Five k's like three miles.
Speaker 2 (55:41):
I tried to do a five k. I actually was
given the A six use. It was a big promotion
for them they had. I thought, all right, I'm going
to do sort of like a half jog half watch
three hours. And I got running at the start, and
you know, I'm in decent shape, ye running a little bit,
and all of a sudden, the major side crap like
like a little like less than half a mile into
(56:03):
this thing, and I'm like, yes, you have.
Speaker 3 (56:05):
To know how to breathe when you run. It's not
normal breathing.
Speaker 1 (56:08):
It is not.
Speaker 2 (56:09):
By the way, our thanks to Rapid Radios, the official

we had these. They were everywhere. Everyone was using this
because you know, by the way of ten games tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (56:46):
Yes, yes, thank you for forfaring.
Speaker 4 (56:47):
Me so we have ten games kickings tomorrow and get
an extra burrito.
Speaker 2 (56:51):
Speaking of those, thank you. We we didn't have the
burritos last week.
Speaker 3 (56:54):
Yeah, I felt bad. I felt bad. Actually, Big Mike
did bring in some donuts. It helped us a little bit.
Speaker 4 (56:59):
Oh good.
Speaker 2 (57:00):
We got to talk about some of these teams though
that really, I know it's early, but all you have
to do is look at the odds for teams that
start zero and two and make it to the postseason.
And it seems ridiculous when you're talking about a seventeen
game schedule, but you you go, oh and two, and
it's not impossible. There are teams that have started zero
(57:23):
and two and won Super Bowls. But the odds are
definitely greater. So all of a sudden, you're like, you're
looking at teams that already have a loss, saying what
teams need to suddenly wake up and get a victory
in Week two. I mean, let's start with the Jets
right now on the road against the Titans. The Jets
in that money game. Forget the Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers
(57:45):
will be fine, but that run defense, no McCaffrey, and
they give up one hundred and eighty yards on the
ground to the San Francisco forty nine ers with a
free agent running back. That is not what the Jets advertise.
I mean, Robert Sala to me, should be fired. And
I don't like people to lose a job. So Robert
(58:06):
Sala has not shown me any aptitude of being an
effective head coach in the National Football League none, And
he got a reprieve so to speak, last year because
of the injury to Aaron Rodgers. But this team just
did not show me anything in that game against the
forty nine ers. And now you go on the road
(58:27):
against that Titans team that Will Levis picks six pass
has to go down.
Speaker 3 (58:32):
It was a well, no, it was forget heartbreaking. How
about the worst ever.
Speaker 2 (58:37):
You're up by a point, I know, and you flip
the ball, flip it to the sideline.
Speaker 3 (58:43):
It wasn't like he flipped it.
Speaker 2 (58:45):
To somebody that's right in front of me. He literally
tries to flip it to the sideline as he's going
down and it's a walking pick six.
Speaker 3 (58:53):
Yes, yeah, he is awful. Awful.
Speaker 4 (58:57):
Yeah, that was definitely a really bad decison a young quarterback.
Speaker 3 (59:02):
He's young. Let's let's give it a psychon care.
Speaker 2 (59:05):
You could be a you could be playing pee wee football.
Speaker 3 (59:08):
You don't don't do that. Don't do that.
Speaker 5 (59:09):
I know.
Speaker 3 (59:10):
I'm just trying.
Speaker 4 (59:10):
I'm just trying to help out the kid, because you
can see his heartbreaking as it happened.
Speaker 3 (59:14):
Literally on the wall.
Speaker 2 (59:15):
They had just shown him like getting all fired up
with his teammates on the sidelines and everything, and then
you do.
Speaker 3 (59:20):
That, yeah, yes, now, yeah, the Jets.
Speaker 4 (59:23):
Here's the thing that's like really disappointing on their performance
is because we spoke about last season without a quarterback,
they managed to stay in many games because of their defense.
And here you come out, you have Aaron Rodgers and
you you're not prepared. Now is that on Robert Sala,
Because that's what it looked like to me, Like you
want to.
Speaker 2 (59:42):
The possession was what thirty nine to twenty one? Yeah,
there's no use of Aaron Rodgers if you can't get
him on the field.
Speaker 9 (59:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (59:50):
Yeah, it didn't help. The guys are dropping the ball oheesh.
Speaker 4 (59:54):
Jordan Mason had the most carries for a forty nine.
Speaker 2 (59:57):
Er in years twenty eight carries most.
Speaker 3 (59:59):
Yeah, Like it just seemed like they anybody not prepare.
Speaker 2 (01:00:02):
Anybody have them play in that game for their FANTASYLT want.
Speaker 4 (01:00:05):
I don't think so, because I told you, I said
to Adam, I thought we were bamboozled. Nobody was expecting
Christian McCaffrey to not play. Yeah, and if you had
them on your fantasy league, it's super sucked because it
was a Monday night game, so you had nobody else
to play for him like you were stuck having an
out a player who was not playing. That's why I
felt like we were bamboozled when it comes to that. Yeah, no,
the Jets absolutely have to come out and win on
(01:00:28):
the road or else.
Speaker 3 (01:00:30):
I take all the things I've said positively about right,
I'm going to tell.
Speaker 2 (01:00:33):
You another team that needs to win on the road
and they're actually one to Oh and that's your Chargers. Yes,
so you're on the road against a Panthers team that
was worse than advertised, like they were bad last year,
and then they open up with an absolute embarrassing loss
for their season against the Saints. So it's not like
(01:00:54):
some powerhouse team, right, and they are just literally getting
run off the field. But these are tricky games. West
Coast the East Coast trips, yeah, are always a challenge.
The Chargers. Look, they got two big runs. Two big
runs basically made their day against a interp Raiders team.
(01:01:15):
Chargers defense look good, but again it's the Raiders. So
it wasn't like, you know, Gardner Minshew is not exactly
you know, getting ready for his bust there in Canton, Ohio.
Speaker 1 (01:01:24):
So this to me is a.
Speaker 2 (01:01:25):
Tricky game, but a game that The Chargers have to win.
You can't undo that first win at home against the
Raiders and then go and lose to the pathetic Panthers.
Speaker 4 (01:01:38):
Yeah, I agree, I don't. I'm not really worried. I know,
I agree that they have to win. I'm not very worried,
to be honest with you. I'm looking forward to seeing
more of Justin Herbert though.
Speaker 3 (01:01:52):
That heats, But they're a run team.
Speaker 1 (01:01:54):
JK.
Speaker 2 (01:01:54):
Dobbins had those two big runs. That really was That
was the offense for the Chargers. They don't have a
lot in the receiver. McConkie did have a touchdown he did.
I mean, you can see that they're limited in their
receiving corps.
Speaker 1 (01:02:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:02:08):
But and Jim Harber likes to run the ball.
Speaker 4 (01:02:11):
He does like to run the ball. And I know
we're going to see majority of that, but hopefully we'll
see a little bit more Justin Herbert.
Speaker 3 (01:02:17):
But can we give Joe Alt some love? Did Max
Crosby do anything? Joe All?
Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
If you saw this guy at Notre Dame and you
heard me on the draft day, I applauded standing ovation.
The Chargers have been drafting offensive linemen in their first
round picks. When you have a quarterback of the caliber
of Justin Herbert. Now the problem is you need to
get some receivers. Yes, yes, you know, and but Joe All. Look,
(01:02:46):
Joe All could be Joe Thomas, you know, hopefully with
a better team. But a guy that steps in immediately
and almost immediately you say, all right, this guy's going
to be in the Hall of Fame. Yeah, yeah, that's
how good.
Speaker 4 (01:02:57):
Joe Alta loved to watching him out there. There's another
team that I think needs to win and it's not
even the team. I think it's a player that needs
to perform. Deshaun Watson. Yes, this is he needs to
perform yesterday.
Speaker 2 (01:03:11):
Well, now he's got all more litigation on his doorstep.
This is an interesting early morning matchup Browns Jags, both
over the season with losses. You have two quarterbacks that
Shawn Watson Trevor Lawrence getting paid a lot.
Speaker 3 (01:03:26):
Of money money.
Speaker 1 (01:03:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:03:29):
No, this is I think bigger for the Browns than
it does for the Jogs.
Speaker 4 (01:03:32):
To be honest, Let's.
Speaker 2 (01:03:33):
Remember the Browns made the playoffs last year. Yeah, Stefanski
was the NFL Coach of the Year. They had the
defensive player of the Aaron Miles, Garrett.
Speaker 3 (01:03:41):
Oh, that's right. The comeback player of.
Speaker 2 (01:03:42):
The year in Joe Flacco, straight off the couch led
them to the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (01:03:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:03:47):
Yeah, I mean the worst contract in history for a
reason you think it is? Now, how is it not?
I don't know if he turns it around. Okay, yeah,
let's wait. Yeah, I don't think he's going to turn
it around.
Speaker 2 (01:03:58):
That's right. I'll see you're saying that you you're betting
the bank on the Jags in this case.
Speaker 4 (01:04:02):
I am, I am, and I think it's just time
for the Browns to accept that it was a terrible
decision and you move on.
Speaker 3 (01:04:08):
Move on. Yeah, you're gonna have to eat that contract
a gane. Yep, yep. So you're gonna just keep.
Speaker 4 (01:04:14):
Going out there.
Speaker 2 (01:04:16):
Not everyone, and not everyone is like the Walton family
in Denver, where you got more money than the entire countries,
where you can eat a Russell Wilson contract.
Speaker 3 (01:04:25):
But if he's not delivered, you're just gonna keep playing
with him.
Speaker 2 (01:04:28):
All right, Well, let's let's get another voice in this,
because yeah, that is a big question moving for Let's
find out what it's trending right now.
Speaker 3 (01:04:36):
All right, Martin, are you completely.
Speaker 2 (01:04:39):
Like Moncey giving up on any hopes that Deshaun Watson
is gonna be worth anything to the Cleveland Browns.
Speaker 3 (01:04:46):
Like Monty, I'll say.
Speaker 2 (01:04:48):
Yiss, yes, yes, yes see, I'm not giving up on
him quite YENGI. I'll tell you what it was the
last half that he had before he got hurt. He
played a perfect half.
Speaker 3 (01:05:03):
That's what you're holding on to half of a game.
Speaker 2 (01:05:06):
Well, I'm not going to hold him on one game.
One game, and they played a pretty good team, did
they not? The Cowboys are a good team.
Speaker 1 (01:05:14):
Sure it might be.
Speaker 3 (01:05:16):
We don't know one. The Saints just one by forty.
Do we think they're a good team?
Speaker 5 (01:05:20):
Right?
Speaker 1 (01:05:21):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:05:21):
But we know that the Panthers are a bad team.
What would you say if the Panthers beat the Chargers
this week?
Speaker 8 (01:05:26):
I would say, good Rittange Jim Harbaugh for leaving this
coverads so empty.
Speaker 3 (01:05:30):
I hope you reap everything you saw.
Speaker 2 (01:05:33):
So wait, go home on the second here, After everything
that Jim Harborugh did to revive the Michigan football program,
including every cheating method known to man, you're now going
to turn.
Speaker 3 (01:05:45):
Your back on Jim Harbaugh.
Speaker 8 (01:05:48):
First of all, Jim Harbaugh turned his back on the
University of Michigan.
Speaker 2 (01:05:52):
Well he knew what was left behind. Yes, he's been
there you go, Yeah, there you go. It's the same
thing as same thing that Carol did at US twice
a year. Yes, I'm not better.
Speaker 3 (01:06:02):
I'm not salting none of you. I didn't think you're.
Speaker 2 (01:06:05):
Definitely not a Jim Harbaugh Chargers coach fan.
Speaker 3 (01:06:08):
Well here's the thing, Steve. I was told that Jim
Harbaugh turns it around immediately everywhere he goes. That may
be true, except it wasn't at Michigan.
Speaker 8 (01:06:17):
It was five years in which he only won one
Bowl game off to his rivals had doing rugby style
punch and Jalen watch Jackson blocking it and returning for
a touchdown against.
Speaker 12 (01:06:28):
Hurt.
Speaker 3 (01:06:29):
Your preaching dead gospel here, I've been saying.
Speaker 2 (01:06:32):
He was zero and six against Ohio State to start
his Michigan run after and then he had the last
three years.
Speaker 3 (01:06:37):
So that's my thing.
Speaker 8 (01:06:38):
If you mean to tell me that all the winning
turned around conveniently after you were playing by what seemed
to be a different set of rules, So I ultimately
think that it mattered.
Speaker 3 (01:06:47):
I think that would have won regardless. But if you're
gonna cheat like this, at least be dedicated. Be honest.
You know this is just golly two phones. Man, he
had had two phones.
Speaker 8 (01:06:56):
If you're gonna be cheating with this, Florida kind of
wish is they were doing the same thing right now
because there it's been ugly. I mean a fire billy
chance midway through the first half, big long rain delay,
so the swamp is empty, so the fire billy chances
are that much louder because you know, only people that
stay through rain delays for a team like Florida right
now are the ones that want to express their displeasure.
(01:07:16):
Texas A and M thirty three Florida fourteen, right now,
ten minutes left in the fourth quarter. Texas A and
M with the ball. Sam Pittman having a rough time
at Arkansas too. By the way, Steve, I'm sure you've
been keeping a breath of this. Auburn's about I mean,
Uab's about to score here. It's twenty seven to thirty
Ukansas with the lead, four minutes left in the fourth quarter.
But they've been going back and forth with the fighting
(01:07:37):
Trent Dilphers since the number twelve weeks Utah thirty five.
Trent dilferm what he's doing at UAB Taylor Green's pretty
good man. They got some talent out there. Have ever
been to Birmingham great place. Miami was also a rather
delay for quite some time. Miami ended up right now
at halftime with a thirty one or nothing lead over
(01:07:57):
Ball State the Apple Cup. Washington State beat Washington twenty
seven to twenty four earlier to No.
Speaker 3 (01:08:04):
Twenty four to nineteen earlier today in the Apple Cup.
Speaker 8 (01:08:07):
And let's see earlier today we saw Alabama lose to
Wisconsin forty two to ten. Jalen Melroll with five total touchdowns.
Missouri handed Bill O'Brien in Boston College its first lost
twenty seven to twenty one.
Speaker 3 (01:08:18):
Missouri the sixth or eighttheme in a nation.
Speaker 8 (01:08:19):
Boston College that's snuck into the top twenty five at
twenty four, thirteenth ranked to Oklahoma State beat Tulsa forty.
Speaker 1 (01:08:25):
Five to ten.
Speaker 8 (01:08:26):
Cowboys quarterback Alan Bowman just short of four hundred dards
passing five passing touchdowns, formerly of the University of Michigan
who transferred to Oklahoma State thanks a lot pal Michigan
speaking of fell to eighteenth after losing to Texas last week,
Who's an action right now? Against UTSA Longhorns with a
touchdown lead at nearing the end of the first quarter,
but Michigan beat Arkansas State twenty eight to eighteen and
(01:08:50):
ended up benching at starting quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (01:08:51):
So great things going on in n Arbor. Better things
going on right here. Back to you, guys, Moncei and Steve.
Speaker 2 (01:08:56):
By the way, Trentilver is my one of my all
time favorites. He was the starting quarterback when the Ravens
won a Super Bowl. He was actually if you include
the playoffs ten and won that year. He had signed
before the season with the Ravens. He is the only
quarterback ever to get released by a team after winning
the Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (01:09:14):
That was it.
Speaker 2 (01:09:15):
They released him after winning the Super Bowl. I don't
know if that'll ever happen again, but Trent Tilfer is
the only quarterback ever to actually win a Super Bowl
and then get released by that team after that season.
Speaker 3 (01:09:29):
I wonder what that feeling is like.
Speaker 2 (01:09:33):
I didn't. I mean, Trent played a lot of years.
He was, you know, a mediocre quarterback. I thought it
was a good commentator for years. Now he's you know,
trying to get this coaching going with the UAB. But yeah,
that wasn't all. I mean, obviously their defense was the
key in winning their Super Bowl that year. But yeah,
he got released after winning the super Bowl. Thanks for
the super Bowl. Now hit the road, all right, I'm
(01:09:53):
looking right now. We're coming to live from the tire
rack dot Com studios. Do we want to start on
our picks right now and get this thing started? Here?
This is Last week was interesting week one where Patrick,
our producer, randomly without telling us in advance, chooses three
games for us to make a pick on. Can you
(01:10:17):
remind us again of which three games you chose last week? Why?
Speaker 9 (01:10:21):
Sure, Steve.
Speaker 12 (01:10:22):
The three picks were the Broncos at Seahawks, Vikings at Giants,
and then the Jets at Niners.
Speaker 2 (01:10:30):
Okay, and how did Manci and I do with our
picks last week?
Speaker 12 (01:10:34):
Well, Steve, I'll say this, one of you was three
and zero. The other one was unsurprisingly one and two.
Speaker 2 (01:10:44):
I want, I want to I want to say this.
I feel like it's a one plus and two one
plus and two.
Speaker 12 (01:10:50):
You know what I will say this, I did bolden
your one in that one and two because of the
beat down for that big one, because he said Niners win,
and it's a beatdown.
Speaker 2 (01:11:03):
I qualify that as a beatdown. So I said double
digit win for the Niners. Yes, and it was a
double digit win.
Speaker 3 (01:11:08):
For the Niners.
Speaker 9 (01:11:09):
I'll give you a golden one for that.
Speaker 3 (01:11:10):
Okay, now my pick of the.
Speaker 8 (01:11:12):
G men.
Speaker 3 (01:11:15):
Again, I asked you here are you smoking? Last week?
I didn't know why you made those It was week one.
Daniel Jones still have a job. He does. He does,
poor guy, but he does.
Speaker 2 (01:11:27):
And Sam Darnell looked like a Hall of Famer in
that game against the Giants.
Speaker 3 (01:11:31):
Yes he did.
Speaker 2 (01:11:31):
As far as the Seattle pick on the road against
the or the Bronco pick on the road against the Seahawks,
and by the way, the only Broncos only lost by six.
Speaker 4 (01:11:39):
They did.
Speaker 2 (01:11:41):
I felt compelled because I'm a big believer. This is
my surprise pick of the year that the Broncos are
going to sneak in as a wild card. I'm not
going to change that.
Speaker 3 (01:11:48):
I think bo Nicks was rough.
Speaker 2 (01:11:50):
I mean, it's a rookie quarterback on the road, but
I think the I think Denver will be okay this year.
Speaker 4 (01:11:56):
And I told you the only reason I didn't agree
with you is because it was week one. This would
have been a pick in week seven. I would have
had maybe a different answer, but I just was like
week one. No, I'm giving it to Seattle at home
of course.
Speaker 2 (01:12:07):
All right, so I'm spotting already two games to you, yes,
after one week, after one week, so I'd sort of
like to be the underdog.
Speaker 3 (01:12:16):
In all of Sure, sure, sure, that's the plan.
Speaker 2 (01:12:18):
Okay, So I'll tell you what on the other side.
On the other side, we'll get to these three games.
I'm going to give you plenty of times so we
don't have to rush through all these picks. All right,
our picks. We have no idea which gains. Patrick is picking,
and we're going to give you our winners. And people
are always anxious with my picks because they run to
the bank and bet against my picks.
Speaker 3 (01:12:39):
I mean, it's legendary.
Speaker 1 (01:12:42):
Keep it here.
Speaker 2 (01:12:42):
This is Fox Football Saturday, Steve Harvey, Montzi Belanias Here,
Fox Football Saturday. We're coming live from the tire rack
dot Com Studios. One to think Martin today, you put
up with a lot, Yes to sit in as he
does interacting today, Yes, trying to do his job. I
did a public apology. Sorry, I hope he's okay with that.
(01:13:06):
Mary mac who was in the room as well, but
she was not interrupting him. She was.
Speaker 3 (01:13:13):
She knew what time it was. She knew what time
it was.
Speaker 2 (01:13:17):
So Mary Mack doing a phenomenal job as always, and Patrick,
of course, our brilliant producer. We're in the midst right now,
folks of trying to come up with a name for
our weekly NFL picks. Yes, you know, Moncey versus Steve
Belanios versus Hartman. You know, we're looking. It's it's a
(01:13:37):
working process. It is process. And then we're going to
actually have an opening for this segment saying so.
Speaker 13 (01:13:44):
You know, make it, make it official, all right, So
after week one, Monsey is three and zero.
Speaker 2 (01:13:49):
We're not going against the spread. We're just picking winners
here straight up. And I'm one and two, so already
a two game lead, which by the way, projected over
eighteen weeks. Remember there's an eighteen week season. That means
you would win by thirty six games at this point, which.
Speaker 3 (01:14:05):
Is, in the words of Adam Kaplan, it's just.
Speaker 2 (01:14:08):
Week one, just week one.
Speaker 3 (01:14:10):
Let's let's see where we are.
Speaker 2 (01:14:12):
So Patrick is selecting three games for US to pick,
and we have absolutely no idea which these games are.
Speaker 3 (01:14:18):
So Patrick, throw it out for us.
Speaker 12 (01:14:21):
All right, Well, with our first game, we're actually it's
a good little more early morning game. We got the Buccaneers,
Tampa Bay had the Detroit Lloyans, and Steven Montsey Lions
are favored by seven and a half as of right
now this moment, Steve, I'm gonna go with you first.
(01:14:41):
Let's see if redemption is in your path right now?
Who you picking?
Speaker 2 (01:14:44):
Well, part of redemption for me is to not make
stupid picks.
Speaker 3 (01:14:50):
Look.
Speaker 2 (01:14:50):
I said before the season that Baker Mayfield maybe the
come down player of the year, and then he goes
out and throws for two eighty nine and four touchdowns
and against the com so he looked really good in
that game. The Lions did not look great against the Rams,
but I think that had a lot more to do
with the Rams defense surprising a lot of people without
Aaron Donald. I think the Lions will be fine in
(01:15:13):
this game. I will pick the Lions. In fact, I'll
even say the Lions cover the spread in this thing.
So I look for a nice easy win for the
Lions at home against the Bucks.
Speaker 3 (01:15:24):
So I actually agree with part of what you said.
Speaker 4 (01:15:26):
But I think the Buccaneers are not getting the credit
that they deserve, and I think it's going to be
a much closer game with the Lions escaping and coming
out on top. I don't think they cover. Oh really,
I don't think they cover. Okay, but I think they win.
So yes, I take the Lions too.
Speaker 12 (01:15:47):
All right, all right, So we got Lions, and I also, Steve,
I did parenthesize cover spread.
Speaker 2 (01:15:52):
Cover spread on this one. There's got to be something extra, yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:15:57):
And especially if we disagree, right because I just.
Speaker 9 (01:16:00):
So, yeah, there we go.
Speaker 2 (01:16:01):
I love that.
Speaker 9 (01:16:02):
So we're gonna go. Game number two.
Speaker 12 (01:16:05):
We got the Chicago Bears at the Houston Texans. Texans
Wolf Indeed, Texans are six and a half point favorites.
Kick you back to Monsey, Miss three, and oh how
we feeling?
Speaker 3 (01:16:18):
Listen? CJ.
Speaker 4 (01:16:19):
Stroud surprised everyone last year, and I don't think he's
coming down. Not only are the Texans a little bit
more of a well oiled machine compared to the Bears,
but Stefan Diggs looked real comfortable out there with CJ. Stroud,
and I think he's gonna look just as comfortable. Bears
are still figuring things out. I don't see Caleb Williams
(01:16:40):
going from week one to week two.
Speaker 3 (01:16:42):
And making a huge jump.
Speaker 4 (01:16:44):
So I am taking the Texans comfortably beating the Bears
at home.
Speaker 2 (01:16:49):
Yeah, I mean tho, the stories are the Texans of
the first game was Joe Mixon. Yeah, I had one
hundred and fifty nine yards rushing thirty carries carries in
that game.
Speaker 3 (01:16:58):
For the Texans.
Speaker 2 (01:17:01):
I mean, would I be dumb here to take the
Bears after what I sought from Kayleb Williams and at
opening game when there are only two touchdowns were a
pick six and a block punt for a touchdown.
Speaker 3 (01:17:12):
No, I'm not. I'm not even thinking along those lines.
I do think.
Speaker 2 (01:17:17):
No, I don't think that at all. No, No, I'm
trying to convince myself the Bears keep this close.
Speaker 3 (01:17:24):
Now they're not. No, they're not.
Speaker 2 (01:17:26):
And by the way, it's a sucker line six and
a half. Usually it's like one of those you know,
it's oh, well you know, No, No, I'm with you.
Speaker 3 (01:17:33):
I agree. Yeah, I'm gonna go with.
Speaker 12 (01:17:36):
An easy Texans win as well, easy Texans win all right, Well,
we're gonna go with our final one.
Speaker 9 (01:17:41):
Maybe this one is a little easier. Maybe it's not.
I don't know, could be a toss up. It's the
Monday night football game.
Speaker 12 (01:17:48):
We got the Atlanta Falcons going to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Eagles are finally home out of Brazil. Eagles are six
point favorites. Steve, what are we feeling?
Speaker 9 (01:18:01):
Do you believe in Kirk Cousins.
Speaker 3 (01:18:03):
That Kirk Cousins, Yes, the very same.
Speaker 2 (01:18:07):
I'm going to make a prediction that we're gonna see
Michael Pennix.
Speaker 8 (01:18:10):
In this game.
Speaker 3 (01:18:11):
Oh that one, let's go.
Speaker 2 (01:18:14):
There's got to be some kind of extra credit points
if you say something to add to a game. Look,
home teams on Monday night football are always a good play,
always a good play, especially when they're home dogs. That's
like the greatest lock of all time. I know this
because the best man in my wedding was a bookie,
(01:18:35):
so I know how that works. And with Saquon Barkley
obviously looking pretty good for the Eagles right now, remember
they've had a long rest for this game. So yeah,
I think the Eagles win huge, But I am making
a side prediction. Got to be an extra credit.
Speaker 3 (01:18:51):
Point for that if you're right about that.
Speaker 2 (01:18:53):
We'll give you. We will see Michael Pennick. Ye, see
action at quarterback.
Speaker 9 (01:18:58):
Go into your record.
Speaker 2 (01:19:00):
Michael Penick's appearance in this Monday night game for the Falcons.
Speaker 3 (01:19:04):
Wow, that's bold Week two. I'm a guy, yes, clearly.
Speaker 9 (01:19:10):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:19:12):
I don't see how you bet against the Eagles in
this one, even though I did have the Falcons. I
think winning the division and to start zero to two
is not gonna be great. But I just don't see
how the Eagles lose this one at home. And uh,
I don't know if Saquon Barkley is gonna have the
exact same game he just had, But I think the
(01:19:33):
Eagles win it.
Speaker 3 (01:19:34):
I do now.
Speaker 4 (01:19:35):
I don't think Michael Pennix Junior makes an appearance.
Speaker 2 (01:19:38):
All Right, I have a thought here. We'll do this
next week. We'll stay with our picks for this week. Okay,
but I'm thinking next week, each of us has to
make a bold prediction for the game. Okay, something away
from the winner, and there's no penalty if you're wrong,
but if you get it, if you get it, you
get a bonus point. I like it a lot. Actually, yes,
(01:20:00):
I'm into it. I'm into it so that way you can.
This is this is what happens when you're down two
games after week one. You're trying to figure out a
way to get extra points to get you back in
the game. But I think if you make some kind
of bold prediction on a game and it comes true, boom,
you get an extra point.
Speaker 3 (01:20:16):
I'm with it.
Speaker 4 (01:20:17):
I'm with it.
Speaker 10 (01:20:18):
I like it.
Speaker 3 (01:20:19):
Let's go. I I like to live on the edge. Guys.
That's the way it is.
Speaker 2 (01:20:23):
All right, So we agree on all these three games,
but I do have some and little side poems. And
we got to come up with a name for this yes,
so that that bold prediction could play into the name
yes of this. It's like a plus plus something there
right there. Our audience will probably think of something quicker
than we do. So if you got a suggestion, just
(01:20:44):
go to Monsey's social media because she's putting pictures and
everything else.
Speaker 3 (01:20:49):
Oh wait a second, we got to go, but keep
it here. This is Fox Sports Radio.
