Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio. We finally made it.
That's coming right up at first. It's time to say,
as we always do, wake up America. There we go,
it's time to wake up. It's fun time at Fox
Sports Sunday. That he's probably no many firm with them
right now. We wish you a happy Easter. But let
(00:21):
me roll out the red copper for my guy, my partner,
my friend. Yeah, the hottest working man in radio today,
the man who said how much would you see l
A lose my last night thirty on Twitter? Yes, I
did see that, but I tell you what, I love
him to death. I really do. The one they only
Mr Brian Hello, Beth was as affordable as it is.
(00:44):
Hello Kentucky and slap you around. Listen to you. Wow,
I see where your son, Brian Fenley gets it. Your
son has been on a rampage lately. Holy cow. Brian
Finley's video is about his beloved U. C. L A. Bruins.
You know he is quote tweeting people like Benson. He's
(01:12):
been on one here lately. Goodness. I think, first of all,
I hope you're doing well. You sound wonderful, You're you're
my guy, and you know that. But I want to
do this, and I'm glad you brought the Brian Fenley situation.
I want to go behind the curtain here on Fox
Sports on that. I was gonna do it, but you
brought it up, and I gotta do it. Okay, are
you ready go behind the curtain? Peeled back the onion
(01:32):
a little bit. I got a message this morning and
I'm sure it's from bb BO Benson and he says,
you guys gotta go after Brian Fenley big time today.
And I'm saying to myself, you know, that's okay, that's fun.
You know, it's all in good un But I thought
we were a bit of a family here, you know.
I thought there was like love throughout right. I mean
there's a common denominative. I guess not. I guess not.
(01:54):
So we're gonna go after We're gonna slap him silly today,
all right, because what he's done, right, what he's done
is not right. It really is. He goes to tax us, Well,
we're not there to kind of counteract the attack. I
can't do that. Here's the thing here, here's the thing. Uh,
you know you're gonna have to fend for yourself today
because I can tell you're no tag team partner at all.
(02:14):
You threw me under the bus before Brian Finley even
got one word in here, you know, So it's send
for yourself this morning, apparent for himself. We're all okay,
all right, we're all for But you did put them
on Twitter, and I was amused by it. I really was. Yeah,
I was just trolling our guy, Brian Finley. But I'll
tell you this. We'll slap him around here, you know
(02:35):
a little bit. But first things first, what a game, man,
What a classic? That was an all timer last night
between Gonzaga and U c l A. And look, I'll
take my hat off to the Bruins. I thought they
were gonna get smacked pretty good against Gonzaga. And if
you go back and listen to me on with E
from Salam last night, it was about three hours of
(02:57):
me saying U. C l A Was gonna get slapped
silly and didn't. And you weren't alone. I'm sure you
weren't alone. I mean absolutely not. Be Gonzaga was favored
by fourteen and a half, right, they barely survived. There
was a buzzer beater in overtime. From them to get
by U c l A. So U c l A
played a tremendous, tremendous game, and I give him all
(03:18):
the credit in the world. I didn't think it was
gonna be nearly that close, and they kept it close
basically the entire way. They weathered a little bit of
a storm. Gonzaga went up by seven, and that was
the time I'm like, oh, here we go. This is
what I was expecting, and Nope, didn't happen. U c
l A hung tough the whole time. Yeah, I'll tell
you what U c l A. You look at mc cronin.
(03:38):
I mean, he had a tremendous game plan. He kind
of slowed it down, even when he had the the
advantage of like a two on one, three on one,
he slowed it down. He slowed the pace down. That's
exactly what he had to do to kind of stay
intact with Gonzaga. And you look at the status. I'm
not a big time stack geek. I'm really not, but
I gotta look at this because I'm shocked. I don't
think you'll ever see a game where you have two
teams that shot over fifty five percent. U c l
(04:00):
A fifty seven percent from the floor, Gonzaga fifty eight
percent from the floor, which is a tremendous really, a
tremendous number three points that they really are. U c
l A was eight for seventeen from three and Gonzaga
was something like seven for one from three. So basically
the key for Gonzaga, I think, and it has been
all year long, is the fact that they can shoot
(04:21):
the three, but their bread and butter is inside in
the paint. And I think U c l A did
a tremendous job trying to keep that out of there.
That really did rebounding wise thirty two to twenty six
U c l A's favor. And again, why was U
c l A so successful all year long? They don't
turn the ball over. Both teams had only had ten
turnovers all night. Well, yeah, you typically see the fancy
(04:44):
footwork by Gonzaga with Timmy down low. That dude is
unbelievable in the paint, and he did his thing. He
had twenty five points last night. But that's what you're
talking about, that in the paint, hypercentage type stuff. I
thought it was actually nice. I don't want to sound
like all these threes. I hate three pointers. I'm fine
with three pointers being shot, but there are times college basketball,
(05:06):
NBA it's overdone. There's just too many threes. And at
halftime u c l A Was four for seven. Gonzaga
at halftime was four for eight. Now they pumped those
numbers up. They had a lot more attempts in the
second half with overtime combined, at least Gonzaga did, ending
with twenty one. But it was nice. It was nice
(05:26):
to get a little bit more variety instead of just
a three point fest last And it's enjoyable watching teams
like that because it's almost pure basketball, which I really like.
Like you say, I don't like teams just going down
and throwing the ball up, and you're seeing I love
this because you're seeing a different tune, and so am
I to some extent, as you did last Sunday when
we looked at the games and they were just like
Drek really was terrible. I mean, they were just bad
(05:49):
ball games last week and last night. Really, I think
we'll go down into the anamals of maybe one of
the greatest college games of little time. Remember the Butler
game when they threw the ball up at the to
the game and they almost beat Duke. That it was
similar to that, and also the Kentucky Duke game as well.
I mean goes right up there with those three games, right.
It was a classic game, a classic buzzer beater if
(06:12):
you think about that Sugs buzzer beater at the end
where you put that alongside other shots with the Villanova
game winner. Of course the Latener shot that was in
the final four, but um, if you compare it to
the Villanova game winner where that was a championship game,
that was the Sugs thing that is right up there,
(06:34):
I would still I know it wasn't a championship game.
I would still have Latener shot. It was just legendary
man with the throw by Grant Hill and the fake
by Latener, and that was just an unbelievable game. Back
there went Petina decided not to cover the inbound pass,
which I'm sure he had nightmares when he went to
bed that night. Amount of times you get a big
(06:55):
guy to get his arm stone up there to kind
of stop that football type pass, and he didn't, and
she had five guys on on the other four, so
you know it that fired that he and look there
was at the end of regulation. There was a big
um sequence there where U c l A Was going
in for a dunk and I was looking at the
(07:16):
defender from Gonzaga. He got the hand, but the hand
is part of the ball. He also got some elbow
that was foul and they didn't call it in Gonzaga
got a bucket on the other end on a fast break.
That was a big sequence right there. There was four
point turnaround in a game that ended up being tied
and going into overtime. You know, I wouldn't mind hearing
if we can, I'd like to hear that we should
(07:38):
should say some negative things about U c l A
before we bring We will, but this will hurt him
a little bit. Let's hear the game winner. Can we
do that? Here comes Sucks long three for the way
Backs at home. Jalen Sucks deep banked just then Gonzaga
(07:58):
one step oh sirt history amazing, very good timing. I
like that all right. Then that was a courtesy for
Brian Fenley, really, but courtesy for him. I don't know
what courtesy of it was that, Uh, I know was
one O one call. You know, I will tell you
(08:21):
this much. As soon as I saw that and the
kid knew, you know, Sucks knew was going in. I
mean he heaved it up, he banked it in, and
he just as soon as it went up, he walked
up to go he knew, and then he jumped on
the table and ripped up his shirt. I mean, everything
was great, and I don't know why, but my heart sunk.
I kind of know Mic Cronin from Cincinnati, and I
felt there for my son, Brian Fenley. I did a
(08:41):
little bit, just a little bit, but you kind of
wonder what was going through the manch. What does Mitt
Cronin say to those kids in the locker room after
that great season? What could you do? I mean really,
and I thought that Gonzaga may call it time out
to set up a shot at the end. They didn't
get ball went through the basket. They heaved it boom,
Sucks topped the shot bingo. Oh her. I mean I
(09:02):
disagree with all of that. Like I don't think that
Suggs knew that he was he was going He banked.
He did thirty plus feet out and it was online
had a chance, but you didn't count on it being
banked in from thirty plus. But listen, it was a
great shot. And as far as Mitt Cronin, yeah, you
just you tell your guys how much you love him.
(09:24):
It's a tremendous season. Of course, you know that. I
felt bad just watching Johnny Jung's brother. His brother flew
in from Vietnam. They hadn't seen each other and close
to a year, and he was there for the game,
and they showed Johnny Jung's brother in the crowd, and
he's just letting it sink in. This is right after
the Sucks game winner, and then he sort of just
(09:45):
hunches over and puts his head down, like, are you
like you got punched in the stomach. That is just
a brutal way to lose a game when you were
that close to beating an undefeated Gonzaga over time. Really,
I mean when Jewsang scored about three seconds to go
that tied and at ninety I thought I should have
(10:05):
gone to another and they should have really, you know what?
And and then I shay to myself and this is
really beat I know, and you're gonna go think I'm
really out of my mind. I think I'd rather lose
a game by and lose like that. I really would.
I'd rather be like the Houston Cougars. I'd rather be
like the Cougars did Baylor. We always have these discussions,
and I can understand that argument. I go the other way.
(10:27):
I'd rather have my heart ripped out. Now, for full context,
I'm sure this has a lot to do with me
being a Notre Dame football die hard, where Notre Dame
has gotten boat raced a few times. Of course, you
remember that forty to fourteen beat down from Alabama in
the championship game, at least from that season, and I'm
(10:47):
this last time them getting boat raised by Alabama again.
I think it was so I would rather. I would
after seeing all these crushing defeats in terms of losing
by three or four touchdowns, and then the aftermath, they
don't even block there they stay, they can't even stay close.
I would rather get my heart ripped out on the
(11:10):
final play. I really would then get trounced. I would
rather be in the fight than just get dominated. But
I understand what you're saying based on last night's U
and I think it depends on the individual. I mean,
there's some guys on the U c l A say, look,
we lost on a heartbreak, and we lost by a
prayer of a shot and we know that we could
compete them and we're good. Will come back next year,
(11:31):
or you lose like fourteen like you did. What you
talk about the No Dame situation, lose big time in basketball,
the Cougers das. You know what, we're just not as
good as then when we're not at that level yet,
we need better plays. We're not We're not that good.
So I at least you say to yourself, we're good.
U c l A. Remember this is a team that
had to play in to get into the tournament, and
(11:52):
I didn't think they'd beat Michigan State. I really didn't
they That was an overtime game. To think about that,
That's what's wild about U. C l A's run. I
get him all the credit in the world. They're an
eleven seed that made it to the Final four and
was neck and neck with an undefeated Gonzaga team. So
I give him all the credit in the world. And
it's gonna sound like I'm not, but I don't mean
(12:13):
it like that. They just got hot at the right time.
You think about that game against Michigan State. They were
down big in that game. They had to go to
overtime and beat Michigan State in the first four in
that game as well, if you rewind also to the
PAC twelve Championship where they had a sixteen point second
(12:35):
half lead on Oregon State and they lost that game
in overtime. So it's amazing. How you know U c
l A could lose a game like that in the
PAC twelve Championship or the PAC twelve tournament, I should say.
And then they go on their run and almost take
down Gonzaga. It's they got hot at the right time. Man,
they really should have. And by the way, after that
thrill of Saturday night, and now that there's only two
(12:57):
teams standing short a chick. Where you rank in the

If you want to bang all over Brian Fenley, we'd
love to hear it. Eight seven seven ninety nine on
Fox eight seven seven sixty nine, we have bron Stalk
Radio with the amazing Chris p In this hour, our
number two Bond and Barrel betting an our number three
caught a little bit of bits and pieces and of
course Brian no one knows picks, but how do they
(14:00):
stack up? That's next the best ever? Well, we'll let
you know in just about a minute, yes, about twenty
one minutes past the hour. This is Fox Sports Sunday.
He's Brian No. I'm Andy Ferman. I was getting ready
to rock and roll right now and be I got
a beautiful, beautiful Twitter and it is from our guy
(14:24):
Justin and he wants to know, Brian Finley, are you
going to set that game winner from Gonzaga the audio
as your ring tone on your phone? I thought it
was cute. I just want to know blow and you
can use that as a text tone if you really
trim it down it When sus hits the three, it
could be that every time someone texts him, Well he could.
(14:47):
I mean, we'll assuming he doesn't have a boring iPhone.
You can't do that sort of thing. If you have
a droid, you can have some personality and you know,
cutting my stuff and have fun in life. So I
don't know, Brian Finley, I'm guessing as an iPhone. Well,
speaking of boring, I tell you what I thought of,
Not that you're boring, but I thought of you while
watching the Bailor Houston game because Bailor just would did
everything correctly, just ran them out of the gym SE
(15:07):
So not much to talk about that. A little disappointed,
a little disappointed to Kelvin Sampson. I don't know if
the team was just not as good as Bailory because
Bailor's tremendous day. They really are, but I thought they'd
give him a little bit of a better game than that. Well,
here's the thing I take away from it. I look
at Houston's path to the Final four, and I'm not
taking credit away from them getting to the final four.
(15:28):
They beat who they beat, right, But I think that
having a historically easy path to the final four it
hurt them against Baylor. Houston was the first team ever
to not face one single digit seed to the final four. Yeah,
and when you step up in weight class and go
(15:49):
up against Baylor, that's a tough ask. I compare it
to take a boxing match. You think about the first round.
Oftentimes you're feeling your opponent out. You're not throwing like crazy,
you're not letting your hands go. It's just you're calculating,
you're measured right, You're just easing into it by that
eighth rounder, So you might be throwing haymakers. Baylor like
(16:14):
facing them. It's as if Houston started that fight in
the eighth round and they're like, what is going on here?
I think their path it had something to do with
them getting boat raced from the get go there down
by twenty some points at halftime. Well, Jared, but that's
seventeen points in the first half. I mean, I couldn't
stop the guy. I mean, I just thought that Houston really,
(16:34):
in fact looked out of whack, perhaps because of Bailess
strength and what Baile. It is bail. It comes out
at you just in so many ways that could beat you.
Had the best backcourt in college basketball. That's what I'm
really looking forward to Monday Night's gate to see, you know,
the counter punch between Baylor and Gonzago. I will say
this though, I would think that that game last night,
that Gonzaga did play in that overtime and they were
(16:55):
pressed for the first time maybe since they beat West
Virginia because that was a single digit win way back
in December, I think it's good that it may drain
them a little bit emotionally and physically going on the
court against Baylor. Well, it does show that they are
They're absolutely beatable. It's sort of like Rocky five where
they're like, he's not a machine, he's a man. That's
(17:17):
what we saw last night from Gonzaga. They are absolutely beatable.
And we all know their credentials. We know what they
did in the nonconference portion of their schedule and they
beat some really impressive teams. So they're a heck of
a squad, but they can be had and we saw
it last night. It's not to take credit away from
u c. L A, but we did see that like
(17:39):
the argument with Gonzaga, it's never been if they're good
or not. We know they're good. The argument has been
whether they're historically good. That's not where they're at. I
know that they've got some NBA players on that squad
and they're really, really formidable, but make no mistake, their
credentials are greatly boosted by a hack conference. Let's call
it what it is. I I they've had some impressive
(18:02):
nonconference wins, but you look at their conference and they're
getting fat off of threes and fours in that thing,
you know, So let's let's not go crazy with them.
They have an inflated undefeated record at this stage. They
have a great team. Uh, they boosted up their nonconference
schedule this year for the first time in a long
long time, which I think helped them. But they have
great talent. But to put them and make a case
(18:24):
for them is the best college team ever, I don't
think so. I think that if you're maybe the top
ten college teams of all time, you may they may
make that list, because I think that any team that
could go thirty and oh, thirty one and oh and
maybe thirty two and oh right now and win it
all you have to say, Look, you're you've won the
Anti Double A on the big stage, and you did
it all and you never lost a game. You gotta
(18:45):
give them credit for that. But the greatest team of
all time, I will not do that. I will not
give it to them. No, no, no, no, yeah, exactly no,
They're not there. But look at the end of the day,
who cares if they won a championship that really matters.
But they and that game against U. C. L A
last night, that took some air out of the balloon
in terms of them being the greatest of all time.
(19:06):
That's They're not gonna be known as that. And I
would compare it a little bit too. I couldn't help
but think about the oh seven Patriots last night. When
you think about the O seven New England Patriots being
eighteen and O and largely boat racing opponents and Super
Bowl forty two rolls around and it's a tight game,
(19:28):
and they weren't used to those type of games. You
look at the Giants back then, that's all they played
seemingly were tight games. They were comfortable in a situation
like that. And so I look at Gonzaga, like last night,
they pulled it out. But make no mistake, when they've
won almost all of their games by double digits, that
is not their comfort zone playing in a tight game
(19:50):
like that. And we've seen plenty of tight games from
U c l A, going back to the Pack twelve Tournament,
the n C Double A Tournament. I just thought that
they they looked more comfortable. And there's also that weight
of trying to finish off an undefeated season. It's just
a different pressure when you're a huge favorite. It was
(20:11):
all it was a perfect storm for Gonzaga last night,
where it makes it even more difficult to finish off
the job. Well, I'll say this about Gonzaga. They play fast,
they play smart, just like maybe unlike any other team
in college basketball. And more than that, they are a
fun team to watch. And I'll give them credit for that.
I'm not gonna say best team ever, top ten, whatever,
Maybe they're just a fun team to watch. Now. Do
(20:31):
I have a really interest in him, No, But I
will tell you this much. I was pulling for U
c l A for two reasons, actually for three, my son,
because I know he'd go crazy Brian family. That's number one. Okay,
I gotta admit that. Number two, I'm a big Bob
Night fan. I don't want to see anybody go undefeated
except Bob Knights Indiana Hoosies, So that's not gonna happen. Hopefully,
maybe Baylor will take them out of that tomorrow night.
So that was my second reason. The third reason I
(20:53):
can't remember, but I don't know three reasons. I maybe
it's Brian Finley related also, but they are a fun
team to watch, There's no doubt about that. And and
you know what, it's enjoyable to watch a team that
plays as a team, which I like. Now Baylor does
the same. And it's gonna be a great game tomorrow
and I I expect somewhat of a shootout tomorrow and
(21:14):
I will see what happens. Well, listen, Johnny Jusang there
were videos from your son just he was so upset
with anybody saying Johnny Jusing is just a shooter, and
he's like, he's more than that. He's a scar and
he can do it all. I'm faaraphrasing, but Johnny Jusing
was tremendous in the tournament and was eighteen. He was
(21:36):
twelve or eighteen last night for twenty nine points. He
was awesome and also him a Hacke has that dude
has no fear. They were a fun, fun team. If
not for Brian Finley, I really would have embraced U
c l A. But Brian Finley represented any U c
l A fan who was like scolding the world, how
(21:58):
dare you say this? He doesn't have a chance over.
He was the poster child for anybody saying that. And
it's just funny to me because half these people scolding
the rest of the country didn't have you c l
A in the final four going toe to toe with
Gonzaga either sonament. I mean they had to play in
(22:18):
to get into the tournament. That's fine. Well, I think
my third reason was Mick Cronin because certainly I'd like
to see the local ties he coached here in Cincinnati,
so I feel I was feeling Formick and he did
a wail of a job coaching that team. He really did.
And he's a tough guy. His personality showed with his
players the great toughness not to back down things like that.
But I will tell that I was surprised with Brian
(22:40):
Finley's love for U c l A. I mean, you
talk all the time about the fan the fan boy
who was the logo Pajamas to Bed. That's Brian Finley. Now, really,
I never ever thought he'd be that way. I didn't
think he was that guy, didn't, right. You hear his
updates and he's goofing around, he's talking about vomiting. It's
you know, but man, U c l A bruin serious,
(23:01):
That top button is button, that hair is done. You know,
he's like tweezing his eyebrows. He's serious, freaking serious. When
it comes to u c l A. Man, you don't
mess with his bruins. Now. Is he that way with
u c l A Football, U c l A Baseball?
I mean, I don't know. I mean these are just
I don't know. It's so far on the list. It's
(23:22):
tennis and it's u c l A basketball. All the jokes,
all the kidding around, that's hitting the cutting room floor.
It's business man. We're getting down to brass tacks over here.
When it comes to u c l A hoops and tennis,
that's Brian. Find that momentarily he is Brian. No, I'm
Andy Ferminan. One sport may have all the steps, it's
bounds that sets, but for all the sports and much
(23:43):
much more. Here's our guy. Mr Brian sucks long three
for the week, bag shet home Jaalin sucks deep bag
to three just then gun Sega one step closer to restory. Daddy.
I feel like there're ten people restraining me right now,
(24:04):
and I'm looking at both of you and saying, let
me addam, let me addam, because you guys have been
throwing so many haymakers. You guys have shifted the attention
on me. Let me remind the United States of America
and our radio listeners that you said last week that
you did not think of Pack twelve team would make
the Final four. You guys have swung and missed on
a lot of different projections, including you're exactly right. We
(24:28):
do make predictions and they're wrong, and that's okay, Well
hold up to that. But we're not fanboys and bullwashes
like you. I mean, you're crazy with this stuff. You
gotta let it go. You more upset than m cronin.
You're upset because Mick Cronan came to u c l
A and had better talent to work with, and the
better talent would come to u c l A. As
opposed to Cincinnati. And of course it's better facilities, more
(24:49):
money to spend, and more of a basketball tradition. I
get that, and anybody would leave Cincinnati to go to
u c l A. Yeah, and I don't play shrink
on the radio. But I understand the envy from you
and you wish that he would have ever gotten to
a final. I was, I was reading for him. I
would that you see later win. I told you the
reason why I don't want to see them defeated team
as opposed to Pop Knights on defeated team Moosiers. That
(25:10):
I have no idea why we were arguing right now,
because we should be on the same side because you're
a fanboy. Well, I do have a dog bed that
has a U c l A logo on it. And yeah,
see well Wi Brian helped me out here, Wisby, I
got some more. I got some more ammunition for you guys.
All right, A gonzag is Jalen Suggs needed a thirty
foot prayer at the end of overtime. As the number
(25:32):
one overall seed, the Zags hyper ventilate pass the eleven seed,
the first four team and U c l A ninety
three ninety in the final four by the way, by
the way, real fast, by and friendly. If it had
been the other way around, if you see l a
hit the same shot, would it have been a prayer
or would have been a skillful shot just a marksman
with the dead eye accuracy, or I'm just curious, would
(25:55):
have been a prayer at that stage? No, it would
have been a play that has converted. It would have
been executed just as it was drawn up, obviously. I mean,
let's be honest, now, this is something they practice every
day as well. Hey, Johnny Chusing, you guys were mentioning him.
He had tied the game at ninety with three seconds
to go after following up his miss and going hard
(26:15):
to the rack with the right hand. He had twenty
nine points in this game, and there were several moments
where he had a chance to even win it. You
remember at the end of regulation he answered a lot
of buckets on the Zag's end with buckets of his own.
There was also that sugs block of Cody Riley at
the rim with about two minutes to go and a
tie score. That was a difference maker Drew you call
(26:37):
file on that one. Well, I saw what you were saying,
and you thought that there was some contact around the
elbow area, but it looked like he got the majority
of it the ball. But I could see a little
bit of hand as well, and I know that the
majority of it was the ball. So I want to
go with you, and I can't believe I'm agreeing with
you on something afterwards, Bulldog said coach Mark Few, realizing
(27:01):
his team got a really good break at the end.
Hats off to U. C. L A. They are really
really really good and just so so well coached. It was.
It was quite a chess match going on out there,
and uh, you know, we had the last possession, and
like I said, we're lucky enough to had aft. I
guess the one word that stands out there is fifty.
(27:24):
You said it was a thirty. He said, I want
to go fishing with Mark Few, like every minot he
catches is gonna be large mouth bath. Yeah. I hear
he has a lot of fun on his lake or
wherever he lives by, and Spokane has a fun lake
that he likes to run around in. The Bulldogs keep
that perfect record intack somehow thirty one to nothing or
(27:44):
thirty one? Oh, is that record. They will face Baylor
in the National Championship Game tomorrow Monday. After the Bears
embarrassed Houston nine and the other semifinal Jared Butler was
seventeen points. The Bears were forty five to twenty at
the half. Too school was in the NBA. The Bucks
rattle the Kings, No Janis onto the coumbo dealing with
(28:07):
left Nie Ortis drew Holiday thirty three points in the
Trailblazers gobble up the thunder one three to eighty five.
That must have been a tough one for Okay, see,
but I will say Andy Furman and Briano as I
said it back to you guys, I don't know Andy
how much you actually watched the U c l A.
Gonzaga game, because I heard you're throwing out all these stats.
(28:27):
You remind me of that box score reader, the guy
that shows does the show and just says, oh they
had I think I got you as a box score reader. Wow.
Harsh accusation and a bed Weather that hurt. Okay, Bedweather, Okay,
I can handle that. Really, that's okay, there's the two
(28:48):
beest bed Weather. I was wetting myself watching the game. Actually,
really but what did I say. I mean, I was
I was watching. Okay, we move out seeing an hour,
take it easy, al right, take that you see a
lay shirt off? Will you all right? A major curve
for this sport that's coming right up. And we have
some tweets, maybe have some calls and by the way,
Bronx Talk radio in less than ten minutes, let's see,
(29:11):
let's switch it over to baseball for just a second,
bit less. They're taking this year's old Star Game and
the Draft out of Atlanta. And perhaps the biggest story
in that is should sport divorce itself on politics, because
I think we've seen, at least in the NBA, it's
hurt them. It's hurt them ratings wise, fan wise, whatever
it may be. But again I will say this be
(29:31):
athletes and activism has always gone hand in hand. This
is nothing new, and they're moving it out of Atlanta
because of, uh, the the situation in the state of Georgia.
They signed lest make the Law by the Governor Brian Kemp,
the first major bill of voting restrictions to be passing
in the state. Added a new identification requirements for absently voting,
(29:52):
limited the use of dropboxes, greatly more authority over elections
to the legislature made it a misdemeanor, believe it or
not for groups to offer food or water to voters
waiting in line near the polling places. So Baseball said, uh,
we're not gonna do this with with moving out of there.
My question is this what happens if the Braves made
the playoffs they're gonna move it out of the out
(30:13):
of Atlanta then too. I I just think it's messy,
I really do. They're no, if they made the playoffs,
they'll they'll play in Atlanta. There the Atlanta Braves, Like
that's where they would play. It's the you know, MLB
made this decision. This wasn't an Atlanta Braves decision. So no,
that's not a question going forward. But I mean, listen, um,
(30:34):
it's a tricky thing to talk about, especially in one minute,
because we probably want to recircle and bring this up
in the top of the hour. But um, look, the
first question you asked is should sports just stay strictly sports?
And there are a lot of people that I can
picture like almost foaming at the mouth, like yeah, yeah,
(30:55):
please please do that. But it's just in this day
and age, it's a'm not going to happen, um. And
I think there are plenty of times where it makes
sense for it to be beyond sports. UM. I just
think when people dislike sports getting involved with anything political
or anything non sports, it's just because they disagree with
(31:17):
specifically what they're getting involved with. There are plenty of
examples where there's a whole month in the NFL salute
to Service, nobody sits here and says that has nothing
to do with sports. What is that? What were we doing?
It's just when you disagree with what they're supporting or
what they're talking about. It's not about it not being
sports whatsoever. So I just think people don't say what
(31:39):
they truly mean when it comes to that. And more
than that, this is not the first, because you saw
the NBA Political Star Game out of Charlotte in ten
at the North Carolina pisted had bathroom bill discriminating against
transgender people. So it's not a first. And basically, if
athletes had that stage, if athletes had that big platform
and they believe in something, I have no problem with
doing this. And again, athletes and activism go hand in hand,
(32:03):
and it's just the way. It's the little of the land.
It really is. It's just the way it is. And
and Dave Roberts, the manager of the l A Dodgers,
who was supposed to manage the All Star Game this
year because the Dodgers wanted all last year. Uh, he
was saying in some published reports that he was thinking
of not managing because of the situation in the state
of Georgia. Well, and listen, that's his uh, that's his
(32:26):
rights prerogative. He can do what he wants. He won't
have to make that decision now that the game has
been moved out. But look, it's a tricky subject because
I can understand how something feels a certain way, and
it it seems like, hey, what's up with this and
where you're trying to restrict our voting ability, And I
can understand how that's a sensitive issue. But I just
(32:47):
look at it where thirty six states they require some
form of I D. They have similar or stricter voting laws.
So a lot of this stuff it seems like something
that it really isn't when it comes right down to it,
Like you have to show I D to get a
COVID shot, you have to show IDDN get you got
(33:08):
to the will call window. In a baseball game, you
have to show an idea to get get take it.
If you're gonna board a plane, you gotta show I
d That's the way it is. So this whole thing
seems to be way more sinister in the minds of
a lot of people, and it really is right. I'm
with you right there, and let me just wrap it up.
Maybe we'll pick it up as you see at the
top of the hour. You know, I have a hard
time what people say baseball. I'm finished with it now.
(33:31):
I've seen it on social media, the list forty eight hours,
what they're doing right now, moving out of Atlanta. I've
had it with the game. You have to separate your
love for the game of the fact you do love
the game and what these political situations are or social
activities are. And I've done that. I mean, I love basketball,
I love the NBA, and do I like to see
what's going on off the court. It doesn't bother me
(33:52):
because I watched the games and I love the players.
What they believe in, that's their business. I'm not getting
involved in it. Sorry, I still watch basketball, why hear you?
But there are a lot of people I see it
the same way as you do. But man, there are
a lot of people that they say that they talk tough.
I think a lot of people talk tougher than they
actually follow through. It's easy to be like, I'll never
(34:12):
watch again. I don't know how many times I've heard
that for a variety of reasons, for Major League Baseball
or the NFL or anything. I've heard that a lot.
I'll never I heard that with the NBA putting those
little advertisements on their jerseys, you know, like if you
watch the Blazers have bio freeze and it's tiny, it's
(34:33):
like an inch by an inch. Basically, when they were
thinking about doing that, I got messages left and right
from people I'll never watch the NBA again. I just
think people get caught up in the moment. I don't
think they more times than not actually follow through on
something like we're gonna follow through on this just topic
a little bit, a couple of more things to discuss.
But he's probably Allamandy Foreman. And by the way, we
(34:54):
all of a sudden, the pressure is starting to build
on Aaron Boone. So let's go to the Bronx because
Bronx Talk Radio it's freaking next, Bronx Talk Radio coming
right up about eleven minutes before the top of the
hour of this is Fox Sports Sundy on Fox Boats Radio.
He's Brian Nohamany Furman. But we need to go to
the Bronx. Let's do it now, guys, It's time to
(35:18):
channel your inner New York here. We want to hear
all the rationalities you can spew on the hottest topics
of the day. Here's something we like to call Bronx
Talk Radio. Posted by the Great Chris. It's the biggest
(35:40):
freaking time of the year, and the Bronx Baseball's freaking back.
Let's go get the rings. I know you're all fired
up over there. I ain't wearing pinstripes. I know I am.
I'm I'm ready to go. I you know, Yankees get
that win. I'm I'm loving it. You know what, You're
a savage in the box. I am a savage the box.
You're all savage in the box. I love all of you.
I love following you Baseball that guy. The Yankees are back.
(36:02):
The Yankees not bad. Yes, However, we gotta start, you
know me, I like my fights. We're gonna start somewhere else,
We're gonna go over to Cincinnati and St. Louis where
Nick Castiano's gets hit by a pitch in Red's Cardinals.
He wasn't really feeling. He was drawing off a little bit,
holding up the ball. He's like, hey, what is this?
(36:23):
Later he scores in a wild pitch, right and he
jaws off and Yadiya Molina doesn't like that. Boom. We
gotta first fight the season. Molina pushed him, I need
to get tornsed out of the game. I don't get it.
I don't understand that push. Nothing wrong with the little
poison pushed for that. Goodness, you're getting soft over here, alright,
you guys are getting soft. That is a lot. But
(36:44):
they're good fighters. They may not win a lot of games,
but they could fight, by the way, real fast. They
Chris the quote from Castanos. He was talking about his
mad respect for Yaddi. He said that guy could punch
me in the face and I'd still ask him for
a sign jersey. That was really beautiful. That was great.
But big story this weekend baseball came from the Dodgers.
(37:04):
Cody Bellinger hits a home run, but he was called
out because he hit the home run is off the
glove with outfielder raymil Topia, but Justin Turner thoughts top
he had caught it, so he retreats the first pace
he passes Bellinger's bell and just trotting. Get out. That's
an out by the rule book. What are you gonna do?
That's something you see in Little league baseball, not the pros. Right,
(37:27):
your heads up, heads up, you gotta you gotta know
where that you run us at. You gotta do that,
just telling him what the dude, the coaches should be
telling them, right, yeah, No, The second base coach was like,
I mean third base coach. Whatever he's telling me, Come on,
come on, what are you doing? Come on? Because keep running,
keep running by right? Bad job, bad job robs everything
(37:48):
well speaks. Let's talk about other signals that should be
to be thrown out. So we got the women's tournament, right,
Stanford Louisville women's basketball game. In the tournament guests, who's there?
Russell Wilson's in the stands? Right? So why is the
freaking story because he was wearing forty nine? Is gear?
He was wearing a forty nine? Is he being passive
(38:12):
aggressive of what? That's low that's if I'm a teammates that,
come on, what are you doing really being? It's not
passive aggressive, it's aggressive aggressive aggressive? What is he doing
over here? Good? He didn't even have the nine is
on his initial trade list? Is he going to add
that going forward over here? Yeah? He might have to.
(38:33):
Who knows that they got the number three overall? Pick
that that go? And after Russell Wills I the best
thing about the woman's tournament the Arizona coach giving the
one finger salute. That was great, That's fantastic. We always
like a good angry gino are emma to How about that,
lady Laurence. He's a bully. He's a bully. Well, we're
(38:55):
all bullies over here too. And speaking of bullies and
the it and the consequences of such, let's go to
m M A where let me get this sname right,
Kit hog Pleev who's fighting in the Cage Fury Fighting Championship.
The fight had to be stopped because he suddenly looked
down and realized that he has left ring finger was missing.
(39:20):
It fell off off his hand. Yes, his finger fell off,
and he says, where's my bleeping finger? They even got
on the p a and asked the fans to look
for the finger around the arena. It was found in
his own glove. It had come detached during the fight.
(39:42):
It had to be surgically reattached. Here. Here's my question,
you guys, if he was really such a tough guy,
they would have kept fighting, right yeah, because Ronnie Lott
is like, what what's this guy is helping up? Keep going?
You can keep going? You wouldn't even you don't even
know what was gone. Why are you stop the fight?
Why are you stopping the fight right now? Huh? Well,
(40:04):
final story of the morning. We have a twenty one
century scarface. Gross Point Park CEO, Marty Tibbitts. He died
back in a plane crash, but court filings are going
on by day. The CEO, he's a CEO by night.
He's working with drug cartels to develop a miniature underwater
drone to attach to freighter's to deliver drugs across the Atlantic.
(40:28):
It's a new way to seap meth over there, apparently,
Are you really surprised? That's right around the corner. But first,
it's that time. It's not to say, as we always do,
wake up America. Here comes sugs. Long three for the
Wee Bag's at home, Jalen songs, Deep thank three, Just
(40:52):
then gunn Saga one step closer, tight history dely. Yeah. Really,
if you're on the East coast, maybe you didn't hear it,
didn't see it because it ended maybe someone around the
eleven o'clock hour on the East coast. But a great
a game for the Ages. It certainly was. I mean
that Gonzaga. You see, ALUSI had U c l A
(41:15):
is a Cinderella, the Cinderella rount of the n C
Double A tournament, and then nearly took down another victim,
and that was U c l A. There was a
Gonzaga in overtime last night. A tremendous game and b
I tell you what, it fooled a lot of the
so called experts, that's for sure, Absolutely it did. It
fooled a lot of the non experts as well. Where
(41:37):
Gonzaga they were favored by fourteen and a half and
the Bruins hung tough, So it was it was one
for the Ages. That was a tremendous basketball game. And
like you, I was convinced we were going to a
second overtime and then sucks hits that whatever thirty plus
foot or Mark, if you called it a fifty foter,
(41:58):
you realize I don't want to be you know, the
court is only like from beyond half court. Some of
the publish reports that it was a forty foter, so
I don't know how long, but it's a tremendous shot
and it was halfway between the top of the key
and the half court line. Well, I like mark fuse
(42:20):
reaction where they just showed him he's about to shake
hands with Mick cr Cronin and Mark few was just like,
really that went in, Okay, We'll take it right. It's
almost apologizing to Mick Cronin, like, wow, man, you don't
deserve that. I he does, He really does, you know.
And they had deviewed him at the end of the
(42:41):
game and it was almost like he was in a
state of shock. He really was. He didn't know what
to say. I mean, I think the major interview obviously
was Suggs and he was jolly laughing. He he says, uh,
they asked him, what do you feel like? And he
basically said, uh, I can't explain it. He couldn't and really,
at that point in time, you really can't explain it,
but few was just standing on the court and they
(43:03):
came to him. It was like he didn't even know
what was going on. Really, he wasn't. I can understand
he wasn't a state of shock. Well, I just think
of so many different teams when it comes to Gonzaga
and the comparisons, just comparison city here and there. We
talked about in the first hour. They remind me of
the Oh seven Patriots, where the Patriots had steamrolled through
(43:25):
most of the competition that year. They were not used
to playing close games, and then when they played a
close game against the Giants and the Super Bowl, they
weren't as comfortable as the Giants were. The Giants had
played way more close games, so I thought that was
a factor. Last night U c l A. Goodness, they
had an overtime game against Alabama. They beat Michigan by
two points. They survived a couple of three point attempts
(43:47):
by the Wolverines at the end of that game. U
c l A. Is more comfortable playing closer games than
games in the tournament. Yeah, Gonzagas won almost all of
their games by double digit points, so that stood out.
I also think of Now follow me on this one
andy think about the Clippers. If you think about the
(44:07):
l A Clippers, they a lot of people thought they
were gonna win a championship last year. There were a
lot of people singing their praises, and then they didn't.
They kicked a three one lead against the Nuggets and
they got absolutely crushed. They're still getting crushed for what
happened last year. And if you think about Gonzaga, if
they don't win a championship this season, when they are huge,
(44:31):
overwhelming favorites, it's going to be Clipper like backlash for
them not finishing the job. The only difference is that
Dr Rivers lost his job and Mark Few won't. Well, sure,
sure they're gonna be plenty of differences, but it's that
And I think the the back history is what stands
out as well. The Clippers. They haven't won numerous titles
(44:53):
in their past, so when they didn't live up to expectations,
the backlash was even harsher. You know, for Gonzaga, make
no mistake this quest to win a championship. This is
a program defining path to a championship, and if they
don't close the deal, it is backlash city man. And
(45:15):
we almost got that last night. They've got one more
game to go, but they have to polish this thing off.
They're such huge favorites. When the final four began, they're
like minus two. You hardly ever see a favorite that
big to win a tournament in the final four. That's
where Gonzaga is. And if they don't live up to expectations,
the backlash always follows. If I may, if I may,
(45:37):
I want to borrow something from the Brian notebook? Can
I do that the Brian no comparison? If in fact
they don't win tomorrow against Baylor, you can compare them
to maybe Lamar Jackson on the big stage, which is
happening to Lamar Jackson now when he gets to the
big stage in the big game, can't can't close it,
can't close it out, And maybe Gonzaga won't be able
(45:57):
to close it. I'll tell you what they got some
problem is now obviously they would never threatened. The only
time they had a single digit game prior to last
night is when they played West Virginia in December. West
Virginia had him, had him by the throat, and they
beat West Virginia by single digits, And every other game
was a double digit win. So I think in the
psyche right now they're saying to them, says, hey, you know,
(46:18):
maybe we can be taken number one and number two.
The fact that the game went into overtime, it drained
them not only emotionally but physically. I think that could
be a factor tomorrow night against Baylor. It could be.
I think that there's two ways to look at it.
If you look at another comparison, We've got comparisons galore
over here, but think about the Kentucky Wildcats coincidentally in
(46:44):
Indianapolis also and they fell to Wisconsin in the Final four,
and they were undefeated at the time. Then they were
a tremendous basketball team. But the weight of trying to
finish off a perfect season and getting everybody's best shot
and then some it is so difficult to do. So
(47:04):
there's that way to look at it, where man, they're
trying to finish the job and be undefeated. But I
also look at it like this to Andy, where it
seems to be doom and gloom. Oh man, Gonzaga they
are They're not a machine. They're a man, right like
Rocky four. But when you come that close to losing
(47:26):
and Gonzaga is really really close. Sometimes it makes the
team even more dangerous, where it's almost they have new life.
They survived it, they're stronger now type thing, So it
could go that way. Also, I'm just tomorrow, you know,
I'm happy for you, and I'll tell you what it
was last Sunday when we chatted about the games that
were played last weekend, and I agree with you, really,
(47:49):
but you really were so much sour, soured with the
with the reaction and the results of again, how they
played the gage rugly. They just ball games. So when
the gage was that good, I mean, at least a
second game lest first game should have been played last week.
That's stunk, really, But when when I watched that game
last night, I thought of you. I said, Wow, be
is gonna be in a great mood tomorrow. Forget about
(48:11):
who one who launched, but the fact that was such
a great game. Yes, no doubt. When we did the
show last week, and it was after some dog games
on Saturday, it was brutal. Syracuse made fourteen shots the
entire game against Houston. They were fourteen for the Oregon
(48:32):
State Loyola Chicago first half was one of the worst
displays of basketball I've ever seen in my life. It
was freaking terrible. Baylor and Villanova couldn't buy a three
to save their life. It was horrible basketball last Saturday.
But that Gonzaga u c l A game. It was
the opposite of last Saturday. It was off the charts, tremendous. Right.
(48:55):
I'll tell you what I said this early on, in
the first hour. I'm not gonna pick on it. I'm
not gonna pick on you. But when you had Twitter
and you wrote on Twitter that how much as you
see they're gonna lose by twenty thirty. I looked at that,
and you know, prior to the game, I said, you
know what, he's onto something. I think it's gonna happen. No,
because you're you're good. You're a good gamble. You gamble
(49:18):
on games, and you know, and you you have the
right touch, so to speak. I don't. I bottom barrel
bettings proof of that. I don't have the right touch.
But you do. And I'm saying, hey, the line was
fourteen and a half. Hey, they may lose my thirty
full back early like Houston did early on, and I
get blown out. So I wasn't expecting the game that
I saw last night, and maybe that's one of the
(49:39):
reasons why the game was so good, because we didn't
expect it to be good. Yeah. Well, two things. One,
I was just totally trolling our back Brian Fender. That
was just straight from the Troll one oh one handbook
with him singing the praises of his beloved Bruins. I
was just trying to rattle him a little bit. It
(50:00):
was riling him up. But listen, if I was gambling
on that game last night, Andy, it would have been
a blood bath because I would have I would have
laid the fourteen and a half. I thought Gonzaga was
gonna steamroll U C l A. And it would have
been one of those stories where the first half didn't
go as I expected, Gonzaga with the one point lead,
(50:20):
and I would have started chasing. You know, I would
have been like, all right, let's get in on this
second half lead, the second half line, and it would
have been brutal. Thank goodness, I was not gambling on
that game last night because I would have been totally wrong.
But you could have taken the fourteen and a half though, right,
you would have taken the fourteen and a half. That's
why I just said I would have run with the Yeah,
I would have taken Gonzaga minus fourteen and a half
(50:41):
and I would have been nowhere close to that thing. Unreal,
it really is. And I'll tell you what. We kind
of discussed this and I'll probably moving to our number three.
But the breakdown for tomorrow night the Bailer game against Gonzaga,
And again I'm gonna pull for bail and not so
much because I just like Brian Finley. No, that's not
the reason. It's because I don't want to see a
team go undefeated as opposed to the one undefeated team
(51:03):
that Bob Knight did a seventies SIS with, the Indiana Hoosiers.
I'm a Bob Knight guy, I'm an Indiana guy. I
love Bobby Knight. I don't want to see a school
like on Zaga, which really and truly I don't think
they deserve it. They don't be they don't be deserved
to be in the same breath as that Indiana team,
certainly because of the schedule in the conference that they're in. Well,
that was a blow last night for the West Coast Conference.
(51:24):
Let's be honest about it, because it and I hate this,
but it's true last night's game against u C l A.
While I give the Bruins all the credit in the world,
it does to a degree discredit the West Coast Conference
and it does water down Gonzaga being undefeated. You can't
tell me you didn't think for a second, Hey, would
(51:47):
Gonzaga be undefeated if they were in the Big Ten,
if they were in the A c C or would
they be undefeated? So it brings into question the competition
that they're facing in conference. And I know there are
some people probably yelling at the videos right now. Look,
we'll get what Gonzaga. Then in the nonconference, yeah, they
played some tough teams and they beat them. But we're
talking about undefeated. We're not asking, hey, is Gonzaga a
(52:11):
good team. We know they're a good team. We're asking
are they a historically great, undefeated caliber type team? And
when you play in a dog conference that absolutely helps
you remain undefeated. Let's just call it what it is, right.
We mentioned this early on when they had the COVID
restrictions that a team, if a team had COVID, they
(52:31):
would be replaced by another team in the conference. We're
keeping our fingers crossed that there would be no COVID
outbreak of Gonzaga because God forbid, you have the University
of San Francisco represent that conference in the ant double
Really think about I mean, Portland's state is Portland state
even in that well, I wouldn't have worked that way,
I hear you. But they had their four teams that
were on standby. It's kind of like, you know, flying standby,
(52:53):
We're just looking at seconds gone on this flight. I
don't know I'm gonna go on this flight. Are standby teams.
They would have been the ones to replace anybody. They
should have taken an all star team from that conference
rather than the four team. Really, but thank goodness Gonzaga
was there. But hey, look, you know, they were in
a conference they dominate the conference and and that's great
(53:13):
and it works for them, and they got a great team,
they really do. But to say that one of the
greatest teams of all time, I'm not buying it. I'm
not there. And they have to finish the job. They're not.
They're not a shoe and to beat Baylor. But that's
the thing, man is. Look, sometimes there's some get off
my lawn type radio where it's just let's not give credit,
let's be critical in every single turn, right, And that's
(53:37):
not what we're saying. And sometimes sports radio is two
nice or it's just orange slices for everybody. And I
think it's in the middle with Gonzaga here. I don't
want to be get off my lawn, guy, but I
can't sit here and act like playing in the West
Coast Conference didn't have a great deal to do with
Gonzaga being undefeated at this stage. Of course it did.
(54:00):
It's got a huge role in this whole thing. Right.
When was the last time West Coast Conference was on
national TV on the weekend game? I don't think so
really like a non Gonzaga game when I mean, I'm
not that I would watch it anywhere, I don't think,
but I don't remember. Maybe, you know what, maybe late
at night. I'm just thinking maybe because sometimes I do
(54:21):
fool around with the with the TV late at night
when I'm up and the CBS Sports Network they have
those kind of games on. There could be well, you
know what I'll say this real fast to Andy is
think about the last two games for Gonzaga Polar Opposites.
They crushed USC that was their best game of the tournament.
They looked really impressive against USC and then against u
(54:43):
c l A team obviously in the same conference, they
were on the ropes. So it's it's weird game to
some extent, he slowed it down even when they had
an opportunity to break. He just slowed down the pace,
which that's the bread and butter that on a gun,
and he slowed him down and kind of took him
out of the game. And you made shots. You gotta
(55:04):
make shots, and both teams shot of a fifty, which
is unreal. And basically Gonzago won the ball game, but
U c l A had him on the boards beat
him by six rebounds. So and the turn It's just
a pleasure to watch both of those teams last night
because it was fun basketball and I wasn't sloppy basketball.
Ten turnovers for each team, that's unheard of, really, And
we look at Houston did in the first game. How
(55:26):
many turnhomns do they have? They couldn't even get the
ball passed half court. It was ugly. Yeah, but that's
one for the ages man. And I thought that was
cool to where, um, I just think of like I
don't have any kids, hopefully one day, Andy Ferman, I
don't know if you want Brian, do you want you unfriendly? No? No, no,
I don't know. Okay, let's start from scratch here. It's
(55:48):
kind of like me trying to get a dog. I
want to start with a puppy. I don't want to
start with you know, a six year old or something.
The same thing with kids. But anyway, I just thought
of parents of younger kids. And if you've been a
basketball fan for a long long time, how cool it
is where the Jalen sug shot. And I'm sorry for
any U c l A fans, but that is this
(56:10):
generation's Christian Latener shot. Yeah, good point. And if you
have a young son or daughter and you were watching
the game and that's they weren't alive for the Christian
Latener shot, Like this is the new school moment that's
gonna be replayed and replayed and replayed over and over
and over again for years to come. I think that's
(56:31):
really cool. And even if you don't have kids to
see that, you saw history last night. You saw something
that's gonna be replayed over and over again. That's awesome. Yeah,
you're right, that's a tremendous point. It really is. He
is Brian No. I'm Andy Furman. You can get us
on Twitter at the No Show. That's n O E
Show at Andy Firmin FSR or AH seven seven ninety
nine Fox. Don't be afraid. We'd love to hear from you,
(56:53):
Ah seven seven sixty nine. We have button barrel betting
in this hour our three that a little bit of
bits and peace and of course Brian No has no picks.
Be interested to hear that. Now, how long will this
go on? That's next? How does this mess end? What
we'll tell you in just about a minute, about twenty
three minutes past the how this is Fox Sports Sunday
(57:15):
on Fox Sports Radio. He's probably know him Andy Ferman
and uh getting into some I guess uh ugly news.
Let's call ugly news. We had some upbeat news, positive news,
beautiful news, basketball and bring it down and yeah, and
I'm good at that. I'm like an anchor. I'm the
anchor that we're feeling good. Let's bring this thing on down.
(57:35):
I'm gonna bring a real down to the bottom of
the ocean. That's'm gonna do right now. The Easter Sunday
to you know, like Easter egg hunts. Let's doing funny rabbits.
I'll tell you what you know. I gotta do what
I gotta do, right to Shawn Watson to Houston police
launched an investigation concerning him. Two more lawsuits alleging sexual
assault and inappropriate behavior were filed against Watson. One state
(57:59):
that he has said get is unsent messages on Instagram,
and he contacted the women who had previously missaged him
through into Mediari's not good, not good to Seawan get uf.
Do you have an attorney telling you not to do
these things? I don't get it. What's gonna happen with
this guy? Well, hey, I don't know what's going on
with the the latest round here. I know he's under
(58:20):
a police investigation. That's where we have it now. And
this just broke what was it, Friday? The Houston Police Department,
they let it be known that they're investigating DeShawn after
a complainant filed a report against him. This was on Friday.
So Rusty Harden, the lawyer for Deshaun, is like, good,
finally we're fully ready to cooperate with the Houston Police Department.
(58:42):
And they're acting like this is a great thing. I
don't know where this goes, Andy, but it was earlier
in the week. It was odd where the defense Deshaun
Watson's lawyer, Rusty Harden, they have women that massaged Deshaun Watson,
and they went on record saying, ah, this guy acted
(59:04):
completely appropriately. Like so that's the defense, and that was weird.
That didn't land well for a lot of people. Where Okay,
I'm sure Deshaun probably did act professionally with some of
these missus, is it doesn't mean he didn't act inappropriately
with others. So it was I mean, maybe a couple
of them he did not appropriately, but out of one,
(59:27):
I mean, come on, it wasn't good, right, no doubt, well,
at least the allegations. Um, it was just strange. It's
not going to land well because if I punch you
in the face, Andy, my defense can't be well, I
didn't punch Brian Finley in the face, and I didn't
punch you know, Chris or Bo Benson in the face.
So I think these are false allegations by you, Andy Ferman.
(59:47):
It's but it does it's points to this. It's and
I hate this, Andy, but it's one side's word against
the other. Side's word. This whole case is where's the proof?
Eventually it comes down to where is the proof of this?
I don't know if the sean if he was acting inappropriately.
At least those are the allegations, but a lot of
(01:00:10):
this comes down to what is the proof exactly? And
if there's an absence of that. These defense attorneys like
Rusty Harden, there's a reason why they feast on cases
like this. He's a lack of proof. He's just like
fish shooting fish in a barrel over here. You kidding me?
But the only thing he's got going for him is
(01:00:30):
the fact that there are a lot of women who
have come forth and maybe he's coursed them to do that.
I don't know. I don't know a lot about this
is but I do know. One are the lawsuits alleges
that Watson quote made up scene sexual gestures, and another
one says that over the course of fourth sessions he
purposely exposed himself to the massage therapist had touched her.
All right, So I I just it gets worse and
(01:00:53):
worse as we go on and on, as the lawsuits continue,
and I don't think it's gonna end well for the
Shawn Watson. But again I've always said talent and Trump's trouble.
He'll play. I do believe he'll play, but he's gonna
play for detections because I don't think anyone else is
gonna want to touch him. Well, it's probably a better
way to put that at the what we're talking about anyway. Uh, Look,
(01:01:17):
I've heard this quite a bit where um de Shaun
might go to prison for years. It's gonna again it
comes back to prove it. What's the proof? And look,
if he's guilty, I want him to be punished to
the full extent of the law. I don't know if
he's guilty or not. I don't know that. I know
that where there's a lot of smoke, it's hard to
(01:01:39):
believe there's zero fire whatsoever. But also it has to
be proven. And I know this is a civil lawsuit,
it's not a criminal lawsuit, so the standard is different.
It's the preponderance of evidence in a civil law suit.
It's basically more than so it's a lot lower of
a threshold here. But even with that being the case,
(01:02:00):
there has to be some proof other than hey this happened,
believe me, Like you have to have some proof at
a stage, and if there's an absence of that, I
just don't see the shan unless something changes and there's
new evidence brought to life, unless there's some sort of
smoking gun, or there's legitimate proof instead of just hearsay.
(01:02:21):
I don't see him going away to jail for years
and years in this destroying his career. You have to prove,
And the only proof I could see would be videotape, correct,
I mean what other proof can it be? Yeah, that
would be number one? Possibly audio tape if um, you
know he's requesting certain things and you're able to gather
(01:02:41):
he's doing things that are inappropriate. But short of that,
it's you're saying this is what happened, believe me, and
that's not gonna be good enough. You need to do that.
If you have the attorney, you would have to argue, say, look,
if it bothered you that much, why did you permitted
to come back for a second or third time? If
in fact he go to the same as suits more
than once. I don't know. We don't know a lot
(01:03:03):
of these things in the situation right right well, I mean, listen, man,
in my mind, it just keeps coming back to look
at Rusty Harden. He has built a living off of
being a great defense attorney. And what he's gonna do
where I was already seeing the game plan. He is
going to attack one case head on and try to
(01:03:26):
discredit all of the other cases if he's able to
successfully prove or show that there are a lot of
holes in this one particular lawsuit. That's the first thing.
And the other part of this is if there's a
lack of proof, and right now there is, then, dude,
that is just that's lawyering one oh one for a
(01:03:47):
defense attorney. You're you're just hammering that home, like, how
do we know this? How do we know that's their story?
I hate that we're talking about it like this because
I hate, hate, hate. If someone was violated and now
they're hearing, potentially I don't know, they're potentially hearing the
violator saying no, I'm innocent. I've only treated women with
the utmost of respect. That is awful. So if he
(01:04:09):
did these things, if if if underlined in bold letters,
I want him to be punished accordingly. It's just gonna
be hard to do that if there's a lack of proof,
right and there won't be a lack of proof of positives.
It would have come out already. And that's why he's
gonna play next year with a big cloud over his head.
But he'll play. That's what's gonna happen. All right, we
move on. He's Brian Nolam Andy Ferman. Of course you
(01:04:31):
get us on Twitter with your comments at the no
show at Andy Freman f SR. But they will never
be even again, and we're gonna explain that next. But first,
all the sports you want without guy, Brian Familey, Thank
you so much, Andy, And I couldn't figure out if
you had swung and missed more with your projections, your
predictions in the NT Double A Tournament as it relates
to U C l A or the amount of swinging
(01:04:53):
and missing you did growing up in your early dating life.
I think that there here come sucks long free from
Bad Home Chlen Songs, Deep Banked three just then Gunzaga
one step closer to history. I think that's kind of
like the penalty box for you, Brian Finly, anytime you
(01:05:16):
just take a swipe at your dad, Andy Ferman, boom,
that sound bite starts to be played. What do you
think back to your room? Got back to your room.
I need a little venting here. By the way, Brian,
you said you were trolling when you tweeted at me
and thought that the Bruins were gonna lose by twenty
or thirty. I think you were being honest because the
way you were talking about how you would have bet
this game sounds like somebody who thought this game was
(01:05:37):
gonna be a double digit difference in favor of the Zags.
So nice try there home. Hey, hey, listen, if I
said I'm gonna lay the fourteen and a half and
take Gonzaga, that doesn't mean I automatically believe they're gonna
win by thirty. You know the big difference. That's what
(01:06:00):
you said. Here's the question of the hour. You're a
big us t l A Brew. We know that in
your hot of hearts? Did you think they win? Honestly? So?
I thought, to be completely honest with you guys, I
thought they get to the round of thirty two and
then I wasn't sure from there and there are a
lot of people that didn't think they would have gotten in.
And that's not what he asked you. Did you think
they were gonna beat Gonzaga last night? I thought they
(01:06:20):
were gonna have a lot better chance than the majority
of people thought. Did you think they were going to
beat Gonzaga last night? Did I think that they're gonna
beat Gonzaga yesterday? I was, Oh, my gosh, I don't know.
You are trying to wiggle off the hook. No, you
didn't expect them to beat Gonzaga. It's okay to say it,
and it's okay to have like pom poms in all
(01:06:43):
of the foam fingers that I have, because you know,
my mom went to u c l A. And she
did I told you what she did. She did a
little pack ten at the time, like little Playboy Playboy stuff. Yeah,
I did some modeling. Here comes sucks Long at home.
Give you a little bit a little background. You know,
mid Cronin called Bob Huggins for the game plan because
(01:07:04):
when West Virginia played Gonzaga, they help they should have
beat him. That looks by single digits. And I'm sure Cronin,
who was an assistant and worth did you see with Huggins,
He called Huggers to get the game plan how to
beat Gonzaga, so he helped him. You know, if if
I actually went up to MC Cronin. I said, do
you know Andy Furman? Because you speak so glowingly of him,
like you punch you in the face. He would say,
(01:07:26):
I've never heard of him. I don't know who the
hell that guy is. That's a lot, Yeah, that's a lot.
As a matter of fact, if if you call him tomorrow,
because he'll probably be in his office, if he doesn't
stay stayed around for the final game, he'll he won't
be able to open the door of his office, will
be so much mail stacked uff from me to him. Well,
you two are both really into horse racing, so you
have some yeah, yeah, and you are as well, but
(01:07:47):
not as athletic, that's for sure. So Gonzaga was able
to get a win against U. C. L A ninety
three to nineties Saturday in the final four. You had
the big thirty footer from Jalen Suggs, as you heard
it repeatedly by our man Crisp playing that highlight over
and over again at nauseum. And it was a game
that featured fifteen ties, nineteen lead changes. Johnny Jus had
(01:08:10):
twenty nine points, Andrew Timmy had twenty five, and he
scored a couple of big Buckets. In overtime, Baylor takes
a sledgehammer to Houston seventy eight to fifty nine. So
the Bears we'll meet up with his Zaggs tomorrow in
the National Championship Game. In the NBA, the Bucks slide
on by the Kings on to one. No Jannis onto
the Kompo out with left knee, Sornis Drew Holiday stepping
(01:08:33):
in admirably with thirty three points. The Jazz devour the
Magic One seven to ninety one. Donovan Mitchell had twenty
two points. In Major League Baseball, the Padres improved to
three and o after fly swatting the Diamondbacks seven nothing.
Joe Musgrove pitched six scoreless innings as he notches the win.
The Dodgers get by the Rocky six to five, and
(01:08:55):
it's all thanks to AzaC McKinstry inside the park home
run in the eighth inning. It put the Dodgers up
for good, and the Astros terrorized the Athletics nine to one.
You're don Alvarez, a big three run blast for Houston.
As we get it back to Andy Furman, who likes
to watch HBO late at night and his partner Brian
(01:09:20):
thank you very much. I have so many drops of
Brian Fenley. I've got a soundboard of Fendly drops is
based on his U c l A videos, one of
my favorite ones here, Andy, take all of that. Haters.
You guys have been haters, no one, not wait a minute.
(01:09:41):
Call me whatever you want, but never called me a hater.
You know, we're realists, That's what we are. You're not.
You're living in a dream world because you're a bull washer.
That's if I'm a ball washer, you're a bedweater. Well
that's fine. I mean, that's a problem I was born with.
It's a problem to have if you're born with type
is okay? And so and we when I know, came
(01:10:01):
to visit me when the regal playing in the St.
Louis Cardinals, Addison two seats from him in the bullpark
because he was a Fredie Get wet, right, Everyone's not right.
I'm just saying I was going that way. Don't make me.
You are born as a bull washer. Oh my gosh,
I'm related to you, so I must have that too. Well,
maybe he'll catch up to you later in life. You've
(01:10:22):
got the jeans. We'll see what happens. Okay, they're always
gonna be an odds. We're gonna get to that right
now with Brian Nohamany Firman, of course, is his Fox
Sports Sunday on Fox Sports Radio and bonta barrel betting
at about five six minutes from now. Now, NFL goes
to seventeen games next year, and uh, you know, really,
if the lead is concerned with injuries, it's not really
the way to go. But obviously one less preseason game.
(01:10:44):
But it's all about the Moon Law, the Green Cabbins.
You're gonna get a ton of money with this extra game.
But the funny thing is, you know it's gonna hurt
stats and old time records because for the first time
since nineteen seventy eight, the NFL regular season's expanding and
starting as I mentioned, next year, all thirty two teams
will play of a team games and there will be
no ties, right, and if the team wins double digits
(01:11:04):
ten ten games, I don't think the tennis seven record
is gonna be that good. Well, to me, the first thing,
and I hear everything that you're talking about right there, Andy,
let's start with the first part of it. You know me,
I am an NFL junkie, But I would have preferred
sixteen games. Sixteen just worked better, seamless records in terms
of team records at the end of the season, individual records,
(01:11:28):
not having to hear and we're gonna hear this for
years and years and years by the players. Oh, the
NFL says they care about our health. They added a game.
They don't care. Repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat. I'd rather
have sixteen. But like you said, they're doing it for
the moolah, the cash baby. But this is what stands
out to me beyond all of that stuff, the seventeen game.
(01:11:48):
It features teams from opposing conferences that finished in the
same place in division during the previous season. So what
it tells me, Andy is you're going to see more
and more parody. It's gonna be tougher for the teams
who finished in first place the previous season to remain
in first place because they're playing another tough game. Meanwhile,
(01:12:11):
the teams that finished in last place, they're playing another
last place team from the previous season. So if you
play this thing on out, let's take a team like
the Chiefs. So they won their division. Their extra game
is against the Packers, who were in the NFC title game.
If you look at Denver, they finished in last of
(01:12:32):
the a f C West, so they play a last
place team. They host the Lions. That's a huge difference
between playing the Packers or the Lions. So what you're
going to see that is the main formula for success. Parody.
It drives popularity in the NFL because if you root
for a team that sucked the previous season, you have
(01:12:53):
legitimate hope that they can be way better going forward.
We see this. It happens time and time again in
the NFL. I think you're just going to see more parody.
With an extra game added, the teams on top, it's
gonna be harder for them to remain on top. Yeah,
and parody is good. It's good for business, it really is.
I'll tell you it's not good for business. The seventeenth
game right now. Statistics and you know stat geeks, which
(01:13:17):
I don't consider myself a stat geek, but I think
that that's the thin line that travels through the time
period from one era to another where you can compare statistics,
which players better or whatever. Peyton mannings at the NFL
season and see the record for passing with five thousand
four just seventy seven yards. Imagine what you could have
done with that extra game. And it doesn't mean anything.
You know, right now people say, oh, guy rushed for
a thousand yards, Well, you know there was a time
(01:13:39):
they did it in twelve games. You do a thousand
yards of seventeen games, it's no big whoop. You gotta
rush from eighteen hundred yards in seventeen games. Yeah, you
really do have to recalibrate everything. And if somebody has
two thousand yards receiving that's never been done before. As
soon as it happens, you can't help but have that
(01:13:59):
little football devil on your shoulder whispering to you saying, yeah,
it was seven team games though you know, like, yeah,
there's no baseball. It was an aster and Roger Marris stems,
why is there any asterock in the NFL? Well, there's
not gonna be a real one, but it's an imaginary one.
And I know some people are gonna be like, well,
(01:14:20):
they expanded the season before. Yeah, you gotta go back
to nineteen seventy eight when they expanded it to sixteen games.
It's been forty three years of sixteen games, so adding
an extra game for single season records. That's significant. That's
a huge deal. It really is. I guess no I
(01:14:40):
haven't heard. Is there's gonna be two bye weeks of
just one now just one, which is crazy to me. Yeah,
I thought there should have been two bye weeks for
a sixteen game season, agreed, but especially for seventeen. I
don't know why. I really don't know why, because you
can still have games every week. It basically gives you
an extra week of games that are broadcasted on TV.
(01:15:04):
I don't know the NFL would be against that. It's
crazy to me. I'm surprised that players usually have a
gone crazy about that deal. I really have. We'll see
what happens. And I guess the super Bowl is pushed
back now to like President's weekend. Yeah, it'll be I
think it's February. It'll be in two so yeah, push
it back one more week. And uh, bringing that money.
(01:15:25):
Man's got a lot of cash for both sides. It's
not just ownership, it's the players as well. You know,
speaking of money, we're gonna be playing with someone just
about a minute, because it's Brian Nolan, Andy Furman, Botto
Barreto betting right around the bend in this game, it's
like finding a cold beer in the desert. It's that good. Really.
We call it bottom barrel betting, and it's freaking next
bottom barrel betting right around the bend about eleven minutes
(01:15:47):
before the top of the hour. This is Fox Sports,
so now and Fox Sports Radio. He's probably no many, furman.
We got a game to play. What are we waiting for?
Let's play. It's bottom fair. Wanted to sleep? People, get
my money. I'll put your brank to sleep. Yeah. And
the man who hands it all and he hands it
like a pro bbow bench and LLB good morning fellows.
(01:16:09):
How's it going great bow Benson? How are you doing?
Are you on Cloud nine? That Brian Finley's u c
l a Bruner time? I am retiring from that um
burying the hatchet. It's all done. Um you guys are
boys again? Well? Yeah, always never not. He sucks long
three for the way home. He's gonna attack you if
(01:16:31):
the Dodges don't win. Now, I will see that's what
he did. He did that after game one of one
hundred and sixty two, So maybe now he will learn
not to do that anymore. I guess that it didn't
have the same punch as well. You know I I yeah,
I would imagine that the Dodgers losing the first game
of a hundred and sixty two is a bit different
than U. C. L A Losing in the final four.
(01:16:51):
But that's neither here nor there. I will be the
bigger person and move on. Um. Anyway, So last week,
uh Brian once again with the three to two win.
I need help. Yeah, so let's start off this week.
We have over under nine runs intomorrow Today's White Sox
and Angels game. He's the champ, he goes first. Um.
(01:17:12):
You know, I like the White Sox offense quite a bit,
So give me the over in that one, Bill Benson.
I'm gonna go the under. The Angels are terrible, alright,
same game, guys, over under four and a third inning
innings pitched for show. Hey Otani of the Angels, I go,
and I'm gonna say under. Yeah, he'll get knocked out early.
(01:17:35):
You know, it seems like I'm contradicting myself, but we're
just talking about getting to five innings. That's not crazy
to do. I'll take the over reluctantly. I'll white knuckle
it here it's you tough wagers here. Yeah, alright, guys,
some actual gambling here on bottom barrel betting. Uh. Gonzaga
is a four and a half point favorite over Baylor
(01:17:56):
in the NZ Double A Final. Oh give me the
dog dogs are barking in this one. Baylor's a quality team.
I'm worried about it being an overreaction based on the
last game I saw from Gonzaga. But it's tough. It's
tough to finish the job and go undefeated. So I'll
take two points in that one. You know what, It's funny.
I would take Baila straight up tomorrow nights. I'm taking
the points to alright, same game over under six and
(01:18:19):
a half rebounds for Drew Timmy of Gonzaga. Who's up, Andy,
goodness with you. I'm gonna go over over six and
a half rebounds going over. He had four, He had
four rebounds against the u c l A. But they've
shot over fifty six from the floor, So I'll take
(01:18:40):
the over as well. Yeah, I think he's he'll get
that that number there, alright. Last one here, we have
t SM versus one hundred thieves in the European League
of Legends Championship Series. What in the hell is that? E? Sports?
Are you begging the sports bow bends? Uh? No, but
this is bottom barrel and Chris is and he always
(01:19:02):
he always wants some sports on bottom barrow here sports?
Are we allowed to phone a friend? Can I ask
for as before I turn in my pick? Here? I'm
gonna phone Chris. He's my friend. Yeah, Chris? What do
you think about this? Are you into this? Are you're
just guessing? Uh? Real quick? What were the teams again?
I heard team H and it's just straight up here? Yeah,
(01:19:28):
I just pick a winner. I guess I would lean
to t s M here. I'm not as big up
on League of Legends as other games, but it's a
safer bet considering there's a huge max match fixing problem
Encounter Strike, but tsmraditionally T s M, I think is
the team to go with hundred Thieves. I like them.
They're l A based, but they're more about They're a
(01:19:49):
little more flashy. If you will, I'm gonna go with
the thieves. That's all I heard Bo Benson. Whichever one
has thieves in it. I think that's good. I'm going
through this showdown, you know, because if I get t
s M and lose, and I could blame it on
CRISP because you can't do it. So that's so I'm
gonna do. But I trust you because you're an e guy.
(01:20:10):
That would be a terrible idea to trust me. By
the way, I just I bought a Nintendo Switch the
other day so I can play video games with my
nephews online. And I'm excited about that, you know, really. Yeah.
The the dude was like, I haven't seen one of
these gaming systems for months. I saw it on the
(01:20:31):
truck today. I was amazed. We've we haven't had one
of these for months. I'm like, sold, I'll get it done.
We go all right, By the way, they're stuck with
it for life. That and so much more on Fox
Sports Sunday coming up to you next. This could be
a mistake, that's next. But first, as we always do,
is that time up, Wake up America? Is that that
(01:20:57):
it's Fox Sports Sunday? Is it that'll get you all right?
He's probably no many Firman announced my indeed, pleasant, it's
my pleasure to introduce my guy, my partner, my friend,
the one, the only Mr Bryan No, Hello b L.
(01:21:18):
I'm gonna come over there to Kentucky and slap your
rep morning. I feel invigorated from that Gonzaga U c
l A games, tremendous game one for the Archives Instant Classic.
And how about that. I thought we were going to
the second overtime and Jalen sugs with the banked in.
Should have been? Should have been? You know, you talk
(01:21:41):
about great games in college basketball, the Christian Layton again
comes to mind. The Butler Duke game comes to mind,
when Gordon Haywood almost clanked in that shot to win
it for Butler. That was because you love to see
the underdog like that win. And I'm gonna go back
maybe when Elvin Hayes beat low Alcinder Kareem at the
time in the Astrodome when the University of used to
(01:22:02):
knocked off U c l A. Those are the games
that come to mind that are the great college games
to me. Well, yeah, you definitely put last night's Gonzaga
U c l A game on that list. And I mean,
I just I didn't see that coming at all. I'm
just looking at the records and Gonzaga right now is
thirty one, and oh U c l A is twenty two.
(01:22:23):
And ten. They were an eleventh seed and they had
Gonzaga on the ropes like that. So I give the
Bruins a lot of credit. They did way, way, way
better than I thought they ever would in that game specifically,
but also the tournament. I didn't have them in the
final four and having a Michigan State beating them, yeah, well,
(01:22:43):
and I certainly didn't have them tied up with a
couple of seconds to play in overtime against Gonzaga. So
tremendous job by U c l A. And I. When
you spend this thing forward, Andy, I'm curious what it
says about Gonzaga against Baylor. Where are they tight? Is this?
It seem that the pressure is getting to them a
little bit. Is we need a little bit more information?
(01:23:04):
Was it just U c l A. It was they
have more to do with U c l A just
playing a fantastic game, or did it have a large
part to do with Gonzaga is starting to feel the
pressure and the burden of trying to finish the deal
and go undefeated. I think that it can be a mixture.
We can be doing some gumbo over here. It's not
just one thing. I think a couple of things contribute
(01:23:27):
to what happened last night. Well, I think number one's
gonna get to Gunzaggers, the fact that in their minds
right now, in their heads like they can be beaten.
They didn't lose, but they can't be beaten. Number one.
Number two, I'd say Baila right now has college basketball's
probably most potent backcourt with Butler and Mitchell right back
there and and their third guy. I mean that, I
(01:23:48):
think they have six points a game the three of
them back there, and the trio shoots something like three
point shots. So I think that's gonna really be a situation.
It's gonna be a problem for Gonzaga. But again, I
think it's gonna be a high scoring game, a running
gun game, a shootout. And I think also the fact
that what happened against U c l A. It's gonna
(01:24:10):
drain them mentally and physically. And we'll see if if
Baila comes out of the gates firing because of that factor. Yeah, Well,
if I'm reading you right, you think that you think
the U. C l A game makes Gonzaga more vulnerable
tomorrow night, right mentally and physically, you could be right.
(01:24:33):
I think it could swing the other way possibly where Gonzaga.
You see this all the time where teams that barely survive,
especially in the tournament. Somebody think that barely survived. Man,
they are a handful going forward because they came so
close to it being over. And it's weird. It almost
(01:24:55):
flips the switch where it makes you stronger in a
way when you survive something like that. So I'm curious
if this actually strengthens Gonzaga going forward against Baylor. I
think it's the opposite. I'm just saying it's it's on
the table. I think it's the opposite. I think the
pressure of going undefeated is a real thing. I think,
like you said, Andy, just the the mental uh strain
(01:25:20):
it put on Gonzaga to survive a game that is
beyond a nail biter against the U c l A.
And you gotta turn around and play Baylor, who's had
a better season this year. I think they're right for
the picking. I actually picked Baylor over Gonzaga in the
championship game, proud of myself. That's about the only thing
I did well in my bracket. Everything else the trash.
(01:25:40):
But you know that the question has to be asked.
I mean, bail is used to playing that up tempo offense,
and they scored a lot of points, and they got
great shooters and they make good percentage shots. What you
see l A did last night to Gonzaga, they took
them out of the game. They played that slowdown offense.
Even when they had the opportunity to fast break, they
still held it down. I think that bother Gonzaga. Now,
(01:26:01):
what is Bailor gonna do with They're gonna go out
of their game plan and trying to take a page
out of U. C. L A's game plan, or they
could continue what made them successful or year long by
running and gunning and putting out the points. That's the
big question for tomorrow night. Well, listen, um, a lot
of this is gonna come down to shooting. Let's be
honest and ask yourself this. If we're trying to predict
(01:26:26):
who's going to shoot better, especially from the outside, even
mid range, do you think it's gonna be Baylor or
do you think it's gonna be Gonzaga. I think it's
gonna be Bailor. I do too. Gonzaga's game is inside, yes,
but I also think that there's a different pressure here.
We know that both teams are going for a championship,
so there's pressure on both sides. But Baylor is not
(01:26:47):
trying to put a an exclamation point on an undefeated season,
and they aren't the favorite either. So when you're the underdog,
when you don't have the pressure of trying to go
undefeat did that's real pressure right there. That's something that
doesn't exist for Baylor, and I think that will allow
them to be a bit looser. They can't show up
(01:27:08):
and be like it's house funny if we lose, no
big deal. It's not like that. But it's not the
same pressure that Gonzaga is gonna have. You know, one
expects Bailor to win. I mean they thought Bailor would
be there. There are plenty of people who think Baylor
is gonna win. Well, I think there's a matchup we
expected here, right, they thought that, But no one expects
Bailor to win this game. I mean Gonzaga has been
(01:27:29):
I picked them. A lot of people going to win
this game. Well, I think what people think on Zack,
I think Darling, that's different that nobody thinks Baylor's Yeah,
but I think that the darlings of college basketball, because
it's a small school. They've been maybe fool but then
really want the big one of the Bailor has never
been there at all. But I just think that people
somewhat are rooting for Gonzaga because you know where they are,
(01:27:52):
a small school. You know, unknown conference so to speak,
the West Coast Conference, so you know, David and Goliath
in a sense, even know Baylor hasn't been there and
Baila hasn't dominated college basketball. This is not Baylor versus
This is not David versus Goliath. These are two number
one seeds. These are the two best teams throughout the
(01:28:12):
entire season in college basketball. I know you're trying to
manufacture David with Gonzaga because they don't have a blue
blood like history, but they're They're not David. They're undefeated,
like they're the top seed, and I'm not David. Undefeated
and accomplished. That's basically a second tier. Fine, They're still
(01:28:34):
undefeated and they played a lot of tough teams in
non conference. This is not David versus Goliath. This is
Goliath versus Goliath. These are the top two teams in
this season. Like we try to manufacture some of those
matchups because of the past. It's all about one, it's
about this season. Yeah, But I think also we have
(01:28:55):
taken consent in consideration the fact that the conference that
bailor plays you and they're playing better teams on a
nightly basis. I think the same thing. I think that's
what happened with Houston. I think it at least played
a role. If you look at Houston's path to the
Final four, they didn't face one single digit seed, not one,
(01:29:20):
and then all of a sudden, they jump up in
weight class against Baylor, and they're like, what is happening here?
They're draining shots, they're running the fast, breaking on us.
What is going on there? Down by twenty some points
at halftime. I truly believe that was a factor where
if you think of a fight, think of a fighter.
If they jump up one weight class, that's significant. If
(01:29:43):
they jump up a couple of weight classes, you go
from middleweight to heavyweight, it's like, what is happening here?
That's basically what happened to Houston where they faced all
these double digit seated teams and then jumped up to Baylor. Listen,
Oregon State played him tough. There were games, there were
teams rutters played them real tough, so they had tough games.
(01:30:04):
But those teams are not nearly as good as Baylor was,
and I thought that contributed jumping up a couple of
weight classes for Houston. You're exactly right. And they talk
about conference situations. I watched the championship game of the
a CD American Athletic Conferences. Houston and Cincinnati used to
smack them around by thirty nine points. You know, they
weren't even in the same leave. So what would Cincinnati
(01:30:24):
do if they were going to play uh school like
last in this tournament? They lose my hundred and fifty. Really,
it makes a difference the competition you played. I'm not
gonna say you plenty of competition, but you're not used
to playing against better teams. That's the problem. And Houston
was not. They rolled them. They could have beat Cincinnati
four on five in that game. Really, right, And that's
(01:30:46):
how you were applying it to the championship game tomorrow.
Is like, yes, um, Baylor played in a tougher conference
certainly than Gonzaga did well. If you look at the
Empire seasons, Yeah, Gonzaga played some really tough nonconference teams.
Has a long time ago man early on. Yeah, it's
(01:31:07):
a big difference. You play somebody in late November early
December as opposed to March. It's a completely different deal
because those kids are no longer freshman, their sophomores by March.
They really are, and they molded together. And let's remember
it's just the practice time and things like that. And
also there was a lot of downtime with COVID. Really
that there's another situation. I also think too, we got
(01:31:29):
a glimpse of it last night. When you're playing against
a Gonzaga team who's undefeated, who's tremendous, They've got lottery picks,
they've got an NBA talent on that squad. They're a
real team. But when you like U. C. L. A. Did,
you're hanging with them, you're leading your neck and neck
at the end of a game, you're going into overtime.
The longer the game goes on, it just gives you
(01:31:52):
more and more and more confidence. We can do this.
So if Baylor can get off to a good star,
harder they have the leading. I just think that it
makes Baylor more confident, and it it makes Gonzaga start
to press a little bit, and the longer the game
goes on like that, and especially being a close game.
(01:32:14):
Gonzaga is not used to playing close games at all.
They blown out almost everybody this season, but they're beating
everybody but double digits except West Virginia. You're taking Baylor
to win out right, Yeah, And I'll tell you what. Look,
I think they can beat them. I think they should
beat them. And more than that, I want them to
beat them, because when they go up there and say
Gonzaga is only the second team to win a championship
(01:32:35):
and go undefeated, to compare them with Indiana is not fair.
It's not fair. Really, Indiana playing a tougher schedule and
a tougher conference, and they were a better team, they
really were. I mean, it's great. It's a great accomplishment
to win it all. It's a great accomplishment to go undefeated. Tremendous.
I don't care if you're playing little league baseball and
go undefeated or playing the West Coast Conference. It's a
tremendous feat to go undefeated. But don't compare Gonzaga undefeated
(01:32:58):
with Indiana on the feat it Well, listen, it's gonna
be compared because they're both undefeated. But like, don't let
it ruin your day. You know, just if you're making
like Indiana was a better team or they had a
more impressive path, great, fantastic, but don't let anybody say no,
(01:33:20):
Gonzaga is better. Don't let it ruin your day. Just
say no, you're wrong and move on. You know, eat
some peeps, going an Easter egg hunt, enjoy your day.
I would certainly do that. By the way, what I'm
going to do, I'm gonna enjoy spotlight comfort and save
big on your water bill with a Navy and tankless
water heater. That's what I'm gonna do. Go tanklets with
Navy and you could save hundreds on a new Navy
(01:33:41):
and tankless what a heat it with local rebates. Visit
Tankless made simple dot com. That's what I'm gonna do.
And also you could do this. You can get us
on Twitter at the no show at Andy Firm and
fs are eight seven seven ninety nine Fox. That translates
to eight seven seven sixty three sixty nine. We've got
some bits and pieces in this hour. We got Brian
(01:34:01):
Noe those picks in this hour and guess what they
test for everything? But this that's next beg you didn't
know this, We'll tell you in just about a minute.
It's twenty one past the hour of Fox Sports Sunday
on Fox Sports Radio. He's Brian No, I'm Andy Fermy.
Got some bits and pieces coming up at the bottom
of the hour and be if I may continue on
(01:34:22):
the basketball mode, not so much the games that I've
been played or been played Tomorrow, I'll talk about the
Kansas basketball coach Bill self. He agreed to a new
contract that's gonna keep him with the Jayhawks until it retires,
even as the school awaits the decision from an independent
panel investigating not one, not two, but five level one
in fractions charges alleged by the NT double A. In essence,
(01:34:45):
he's got a lifetime contract that Kansas, which I think
is nuts. Yeah, I caught my attention. Um, listen, man,
it's one of these deals with contracts where they can
always get out of them. There are buyouts, Like it
sounds fancier than it really is. Um, but okay, it's
(01:35:06):
got a lifetime contracts. He's got some security as long
as he keeps winning. Yeah. Um, but you know that's
it just sounds fancier than it actually is. And listen,
a lot of these contracts, they are, in essence, sometimes
lifetime contracts. Also they go so long. Some of these
(01:35:27):
contracts go through the you know, yeah, yeah, So it's
it doesn't sound as fancy as lifetime contract with Bill self,
but in some instances it works the same way. I'm
with you there. You know. It brings up the question
in my mind, at least, should players or coaches have
streets name they after them, whether it's still active in
the alive it will be elected to the Hall of Fame,
(01:35:47):
you know, like Rick Pottino has some major problems at
the University of Louisville, but he's a Hall of Fame coach, right,
I mean, do you wait till the guy finishes his
career or maybe even worse than that, un till he
passes on? Which is ridiculous because you want to celebrate
it while you're still alive but still at all. Is
it too quick to make that decision? I never thought
(01:36:08):
of the streets thing. Well, you just get too early
to name a street after a guy who's still active.
Well what happened since tonight they named Pete rose Way
and then Pete got into some trouble that was there
was some people in and around Cincinnati and people in
politics wanted to remove the street name, but they have not.
It's still Pete Rose Way. I know it's crazy. Come on, man, look,
(01:36:34):
you're not gonna get everything right, you know, um and
Pete he bet on baseball. Goodness, let's not act like
he was murdering people or something. You know, like, I
don't know why you're removing a street name because Rose
lying about betting on baseball and I don't know, man,
you just leave it the way. Now, everybody's betting on
baseball when you think about it, right, everybody's doing it. Name.
(01:36:58):
If you aren't betting on baseball, right, you can go.
Eventually you're gonna go to the ballpark and plays a
bet on the game while you're at the game. That's
the way it is. You know. In my mind, I
think that when a guy errs, when he makes it,
when he screws up and he gets mud on his face,
it just makes him more normal, makes it more real.
It leads one of us. You know, we screw up,
they screw up. The point is this, you're being on
(01:37:18):
it for your body of work. Rue Patino's one hell
of a basketball coach, a great basketball coach. Hey, he
had some problems at Louisville. Was it all his full Well,
he's the sort of CEO of the basketball operations, so
even if it was on his watch, it's his fault.
But still in all as a coach. And he even
took I own it to the NT double as this year.
He's a great coach. He's in the Hall of Fame.
(01:37:39):
Let it be well. Listen, it's a little weird to
be active and the Hall of Famer. There's a couple
Roy Williams shout out to Roy, what a career though
stepping away, you talk about being brutally honest with yourself,
him saying, yeah, and I don't think I'm the best
man for the job. There are a lot of people
(01:38:01):
that would come to that realization. And then also stated
on record the way he did but three wins at
Kansas in North Carolina collectively three national championships with the
tar Heels, and the way he walked away retiring saying
he didn't think he was the best guy for the job.
I take my head off to the gather a lot
of people. The hardest person to be honest with for
(01:38:22):
many people is themselves and Roy Williams to be honest
and say I don't think I'm the best guy for
the job. It's some honesty you don't hear every day.
And I think when he says the best guy for
the job, I think he still has the exs and
oos he could really relate and still coach. I think
that he's really upset with this Portland transfer portal garbage,
(01:38:42):
competing with the G League and things like that, which coaches.
It's gonna be tough. It's gonna be tough. Dick fight
Tile tweeted the other day that the transfer portal is
gonna be the downfall of college basketball. I don't think
it will, but still in all it's somewhat messy. It
really is that Like for a second with Dick ev
that's just outdated, old school thinking. Do you think the
(01:39:04):
transfer portal is destroying college football? Look at better example,
look at the NBA. Do you think free agency is
destroying the NBA? Well? I think why? College basketball? Seriously,
I know it's gonna be harder in instances, it's gonna
be easier in instances depending on which kids you get
(01:39:27):
and the talent that they have. If you lose a
talented player harder, if you get a talented player easier.
It's pretty simple. But to think it's gonna ruin college
basketball because some teams are switching squads, that's ridiculous to me. Well,
I'll go on stuff further. I think that the transfer
portal is a long time coming. What do I mean
by that? You know, for so many years the coaches
(01:39:47):
had the final say and you're basically locked in as
a player. You sign your life away at that school.
And there are many reasons why a play would like
to transfer. Obviously more playing time with visibility, but maybe
Mama Papa sit back home. You want to go home,
maybe your home sick. Maybe you want to go play
for the school in your neighborhood so mama Papa could
see you and your relatives because see you play. Just
(01:40:08):
tendly reasons why you want to transfer and get out
and go to another school you don't get along with
the coach or the coach you signed with was fired
and a new coaches coming in, So I get that.
I think finally they've agreed and let these kids have
some freedom, which they deserve. Remember, they're the show, they're everything.
College basketball is nothing went out. Then. Look, I just
(01:40:30):
think people overreact to things changing. That's really what it
comes down to. If this is how it has always
been and you're used to it, I think you're freaking
out in the opposite direction. Let's just play this game, Andy.
If the transfer portal was around for years and years
(01:40:50):
or at least, you were able to switch teams and
you don't have to sit out, and this is a
common thing, Imagine if the n C double A said
no more of that, no more transfer part, Oh my gosh,
people would freak out. And it's because of It's just change.
That's really what it comes down to. It's not so
much that people disagree with what's taking place. It's just
(01:41:12):
it's different. And because it's different, it feels wrong, Like
it's just we're freaking out every It's really what it
comes down. So they would freak out in the opposite way.
If the roles were reversed, that should tell you everything
you need to know. And that's why baseball is going
down to twos because the fans that roof for baseball
of people that at an age of forty five and up,
and they don't want to change and baseball needs to change.
(01:41:33):
They need to change big time. Other sports have changed.
I mean, let's even go about to the NBA. When
the A B A folded, they went to the three
point shot. I mean, I think it's great, I really do.
I mean they changed, They were able to do things
and be somewhat creative. Other sports change. NFL is changing.
They got rid of the uh, the the the extra
points been moved back. I mean, little things like that.
(01:41:54):
But at least they're able to change, you know, video
things and things, just so many things. When was the
last time by sepill had a major change? Think about it.
They don't change. Well, they've got some experiments going on
right there. They're changing that. Yeah, well yeah, the runner
at second base UM replay has been a big change
(01:42:15):
over the years. It's like they change, but it seems
like the worst thing in the world where they're just
gritting their teeth, like, oh gosh, change, But change does happen.
I like, by the way, real fast an experiment in
Triple A where they've got bigger bases, so it's from
(01:42:37):
fifteen inches around right to eighteen and the thought is
fewer injuries. Think about a close play at first base
or if the base is bigger there's less chance for
a collision where you're stepping on a guy's foot or
something like that. And also I found this interesting, maybe
more stolen base attempts. If second base is bigger, well,
(01:42:57):
and you reach second best second base faster, you've got
a better chance to steal that base. And they want
to see more of the small ball in there, So
I think that makes a lot of sense. So they're
experimenting with certain rules, but they're not as quick to
change in some other sports. Well, you talk about experiment
I think I saw this on Instagram about a week
or so ago called banana ble banana baseball. Have you
(01:43:17):
seen that that's going around? It's it's gonna be something.
It's gonna be on TV, I think in a couple
of weeks, and one of the rules of banana ball,
and it would speed up the game really good. Every
inning is won by points, so in other words, it
keeps the activity going. And if a ball listening to
the stands and a fan catches it, it's an out
for that team. It's really I mean, you gotta just
(01:43:38):
google banana ball and I tell you what. It's really
something that people nowadays, the younger generation, they want them
because it's speed, it's action, it's fun. It really is good.
I like a banana but to see a pick up
and it's gonna be on TV and there's gonna be
a league in Florida, I believe. So I'm gonna follow
banana ball. That's what I'm doing a run with. Thank
(01:43:58):
you very much, Brian Andy Ferman Fox Sports southing on
Fox Spots Radio. And by the way, his language was costly.
That's next. But we always love Brian Fenley's which has
all the sports for you. Next. Oh, thank you, Adie.
And by the way, probably don't try to go on
Google and type in banana ball on your work computer.
I would do it probably somewhere else. Gonzagas Jalen Suggs
(01:44:21):
needed a thirty foot prayer at the end of overtime
as the number one overall seated Zags hang on and
get it done against the eleven seated first four team
in u c l A ninety three to ninety in
the final four. Bruin's Johnny Jousing had tied the game
at ninety with three seconds left. He excited with twenty
nine points and there was the big play when Suggs
(01:44:42):
also blocked Cody Reiley the Bruin Big as he was
making his way to the rim with about two minutes
ago and a tie score. Drew Timmy led the way
in scoring for the Zags. He had twenty five points,
including key baskets in overtime. Both teams shot over fifty
seven percent from the field, and so the Bulldogs keep
(01:45:02):
their perfect record intact thirty one and oh and they
will face Baylor on Monday of the National Championship Game.
After the Bears ripped apart Houston seventy eight to fifty nine,
just fill aid them. In the other semifinal, Jared Butler
had seventeen points. There were four other Bears who scored
in double figures, and they were up by twenty five
(01:45:24):
at the half. In the NBA, A couple of scores
for you, The Bucks takedown the Kings one nine to one.
Janisanto the Kompo did not play as he was dealing
with some left knees sore nous. Andrew Holliday held his
own with thirty three points. The Trailblazers gobble up the
thunder one thirty three to eighty five. The Jazz gulp
(01:45:46):
up the Magic one seven to ninety one. Donovan Mitchell
twenty two points and four assists. The Mavericks obliterate the
Wizards one O nine to eighty seven. As look at
Chich had twenty six points in Major League based ball.
The Padres take it out on the Diamondbacks seven. I
think Joe must Grove pitched six scoreless innings. The Dodgers
(01:46:08):
hang on against the Rocky six five after a inside
and inside the park home run in the eighth inning
gave l A the lead for good, and the Astros
take a pitchfork to the Athletics nine to one. You're
don Alvarez hit a three run blast. Now, let it's
get Let's get it back to two guys in any
Ferman and Brian No. Neither of them had U c
(01:46:30):
l A getting out of the playing game. How far
did you have them going? It was at the round
of thirty two, And just say that a little bit ago. Yeah,
I mean, I'm not gonna lie to you, guys, but
I had them winning a few games. You that you
didn't have them in the sweet sixteen. After all this
smack talk, all these papers, you don't have been the
(01:46:53):
Sweet sixteen. As it turns out, when I if you
actually watched the videos, Brian, I said, not the people
that were wrong, but the people who were disgustingly wrong.
I'm talking about the people who were complaining and bemoaning
the fact that U c l A actually got in
the n C Double A Tournament. Those people need to
check themselves. By the way, did you know this and
he called us out by name? You want to hear
(01:47:16):
him calling us out by name? Videos? Listen to? This
got so much heat on Fox Sports Radio last night
from Andy Ferman and Brian No from guys on social media,
vomiting from Gallas on social media that said that there
is no way you c l A is going to win.
They got it done. Alright, Well, it's true. You said
(01:47:37):
last week that U c l A had no chance
against Michigan. I did, both of you, guys. I would
never say they have no chance. Well you said they're
gonna lose. Yeah. Absolutely. It's different than saying there's no chance.
Well guess what they did win? Okay, great, But I
never said they had no chance. It's college basketball. It's
(01:47:57):
a forty minute game with a three point line. Who
knows what's gonna happen. That's like me saying that U
c l A had a fifty fifty chance of winning
this game against Gonzaga. Here comes sucks longs back at home.
You have no if U c l A had won
(01:48:17):
that game, the crap I would have given you guys
this morning, it would have been away at home. Yeah,
back to you guys, right. Can you imagine what how
crazy Fenley would have been if you see LA pulled
(01:48:39):
that thing off. Now I'm glad they lost. Really just sanity.
It's better off. Right, we got Brian no one knows
picts In about four or five minutes from now, he
was talking about someone giving someone garbage. Actor Michael rabbit Putt.
He posted some screenshots of a private conversation between him
and Brooklyn net Stock Kevin Durant, and now k D
(01:48:59):
is apologizing for his action. Take a listen to k
d's apology. Here we go. I'm sorry that seen uh
the language I use. It's not really what I want
people to see and hear from me. But hopefully I
can move past it and get back out on the floor.
Now wait a met he said, I'm sorry that the
people have seen the language, and he should have said
(01:49:22):
I would think he should have said that he's sorry.
He said it. Period. He said he's sorry. They've seen it.
I mean, come on, Kady, you better than that, I think,
I mean, come on, look, it is so jeez. It
is a pathetic apology. It's not even an apology. All
this is, let's translate it. If Rappaport wasn't a rat,
(01:49:43):
you would know nothing about this. So one Kadi blames Rappaport,
who I have changed his name to Rat Purport, Right,
he's just a rat over there. That was yeah, that's right.
It was lame what Rat Purport did over there. But
with Katie some of the stuff said. He was writing crazy.
I can't even describe it. It was that bad, anti game, misogynistic,
(01:50:07):
was bad. And k D says, I'm sorry you saw
it because of Rat Purport and hopefully attention to basketball
and get on the court. He's not worried about anybody
who offended. He's just worried about himself. He's just thinking
about k D, k D, k D. That's it. Lame.
But he didn't get fine fifty, which is okay, which
is nothing to but you know, he then he doubled down.
(01:50:28):
It's been enough that he said it and wrote it,
and the apology was was lame. It really was, because
he should have said I'm sorry I did it. But
then he came back after Rappaport's wife and then he
challenged Rapper put to a fight on the streets of
New York. What is wrong with this guy? Get who
loves social media? Please? Yeah, he said he's gonna spit
on um Uh. There was some wild stuff in there,
(01:50:50):
for sure. Um but I just go back to this. Imagine,
I think the popularity of k D is earning him
a free pass he doesn't deserve because he puts some
wild stuff out there. Imagine if remember don't I know
these aren't the same thing, but look at the similarities.
Remember Meyers Leonard when he was going but really like
(01:51:12):
he threw out the anti Semitic slur and it was terrible.
It was disgusting. Imagine if Myers Leonard's apology was I'm
sorry you heard it, but that's not really what I
want people to hear. But hopefully I just turned my
attention to basketball and get on the court soon. Like,
do you realize what people would have said if that
was his quote unquote apology. Who would have gotten ripped
(01:51:35):
mercilessly as he should for saying something like that. But
Katie put that out there and it's not even a story. Really,
it's crazy to me because it's k D. But but
the Myers Leonard, he was cut from MIMI and the
owner of Miami and then that way he's out of
the league now, isn't he Well they released him, yeah,
they yeah, he's finished. But right I listen, here's the
(01:52:01):
here's apologizing one oh one for anybody, whether it's Meyers Leonard,
it's k D, it's that racist Oklahoma announcer, remember, and
he played with diabetes and all that. Here's the thing.
If you're apologizing, just own it, own it, own it,
own it. I said it, and I'm sorry, Yes, k D.
(01:52:21):
I'm sorry. I shouldn't have been writing any of those things.
I apologize to anybody who I offended. I will be
better going forward. Own it, own it, own it, own it.
It's not I'm sorry you saw it. But hopefully I
can just focus on getting back on the court. I'm
better and just say I'm better than that. I shouldn't
have done it. Boom, that's it. But he said I'm
(01:52:43):
sorry people seen it, seen it, not seen it seen it.
He's sorry they seen it. Means that he didn't care
that he put it on there. He just sorry that
it went out and Sun, it's crazy. Come on, it
was bad. It was bad. And yeah, his focus is
a rat Purport never dimed me out. You wouldn't know
any of this, and uh, you know, I just hopefully
(01:53:06):
I can move past this and get on the court.
When you're fighting a rabbit Port on the streets of
New York, I pay to seet that on the streets
of New York, Kevin Durant and Michael rabbit Port duking
it out in front of the Barclay Center. But you're right, man,
there are some things that just don't match. They don't mix.
There's oil and water that's k D and social media, like,
(01:53:30):
go do something else, man, social media, it's not working.
Play chess. Do something really I don't know. And and
last but not least, it's something I really want to
see beginning tomorrow night. Youaron Rodger's guest host on Jeopardy.
I want to check that out. He's put a lot
of time, like from what I've read, a lot of
time and study habits into this deal. Well, I think
(01:53:51):
you'll do a pretty good job. It's funny. It was
almost like someone told me as a little kid, you know,
the tooth fairies not real, right, And I'm like, what,
it just destroyed my whole world. I was talking about
this when it was announced that Aaron Rodgers was going
to be a guest host, and I was like, Alex
Trebeck though, he's just a legend, so smooth with the
(01:54:12):
reading all of that, like the answers, he never made
a mistake. And the guy at work with is like, well,
you know, they fix a lot of that in post.
If he screws up, they just sort of have him
read it again. And it just just my whole world
came What everything I believed was holy was no longer.
Oh my gosh, they're fixing it in post. I can't
(01:54:33):
believe I didn't know that. I'm an idiot. That hurts me.
Now I'm crushed. Really so Aaron Rodgers, He's gonna be flawless.
Also watch him tomorrow night, you know, because they'll be
busy in post production. Big time's gonna be real bitchy. Alright,
He's probably no many firming. This is Fox Sports Sunday
on Fox Sports Radio. By the way, please please don't
(01:54:53):
do this at home. That's next Noose pics coming right up.
That would be Brian No my partner, I'm Andy Ferman.
Together we are Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Worts Radio.
By the way, speaking at the top of the hour,
that would be at nine o'clock on the East coast,
you will hear the golden tones of Mike Harmon and
LaVar Arrington. Yes, Harmon and Arrington one o'clock on the
East coast. You could hear them on the I Heart
(01:55:14):
radio app on Serious XM channel Lady three, and of
course on many of the same Fox Sports radio affiliates.
But right now, my partner and friends underline that Brian
No and those picks are you in desperate need of
(01:55:35):
gambling insights? Do not fear for Brian No is here,
Yes he is, and now the time is come for
Nose alright, Andy Burman. Winning week last week two and one. Yes,
the only game I missed U C l A U
l A hit out hit it Baby Alabama eleven for
(01:55:57):
twenty five from the free throw line. What is that?
But anyway, the Bruins screwed up a Yeah, perfect week.
It's okay too and one we're still making money. We're
gonna try to keep writing this momentum over here. Okay,
I'm gonna look at the Clippers aggressive line minus eleven
against the shorthanded Lakers. I'm laying the points. I'm going
(01:56:20):
with the Clippers today. Huh. Yeah, I expected and win
by at least twelve. The Lakers are a mash unit,
I think, now, isn't he Yeah, they've got no tonail
over there. It's all right, I know this is uh
When I say the dogs are barking, this is aggressive.
(01:56:40):
So we've got Orlando. They're fifteen and a half point
underdogs at Denver tonight, second night of a back to
back in Denver. Never good. By the way, Orlando lost
by forty eight points last night against the Utah Jazz.
I see opportunity here, Andy Ferman, Huh, I've taken the
Orlando Magic, the JV Magic plus fifteen and a half.
(01:57:05):
It's like Jimmy Kimmel once said, your metallic testicles. You
gotta have metallic testicles to take this. I'm taking the
Magic plus fifteen and a half. There you go take
and a half against the Magic. No, you wouldn't. You wouldn't. Okay,
and the last pick National Championship tomorrow night. I'm taking
(01:57:25):
the points. I'm taking the four and a half with
Baylor against Gonzaga. Actually have Baylor winning the game outright,
but for the for the this pick, yeah, I'm gonna
go with the four and a half. You give me
four and a half against the pressure of going undefeated
with Gonzaga dogs in this mentally drained, the drain Gunjaggers
they are, Yeah, what do you think? Three? Just smell
(01:57:47):
like undefeated to you. The first pick I questioned a
little bit that Lake. We're not the Lakers. They're not.
They're not a strength. But the points, that's a lot,
a lot of points. But Lebron no a d I know,
no drums backed around. All right, it's time to go
your own way. Here we go. A Croatian diver. He
(01:58:08):
broke a Guinness World record and his own personal record
for holding his breath. He remained submerged get this, twenty
four minutes and thirty three seconds on a single lung
full of air. Unreal. Guy's fifty four years older than
his Buddhamir Buddhist sobat previously remained under one of for
twenty four minutes and eleven seconds and a single breath
back in eighteen and he broke his record during his
(01:58:30):
attempt this month at a swimming pool in the city
of Sissak. And the record attempt also raised money for
recovery efforts from an earthquake that stuck Sisak in December.
How do you like that? Hold your breath? All right?
I got a lot of stuff for you here. Andy.
Story one a New Mexico man. He had a bad
experience with bees of all things. So he went into
(01:58:55):
an albert since for about ten minutes, got some groceries,
went to his car, started to dry, have a waite.
Realized there were thousands of bees in his car, so
he frantically gets out. He calls nine one one, hoping
they could deal with the infestation. There was an off
duty firefighter, Jesse Johnson. He comes in. He's a beekeeper
(01:59:16):
in his spare time. He's got the proper tools and
a tire. Over here, he's got a be kit like
a hive kit. Lemon grass oil. Always remember the lemon
grass oil. Andy, if you're gonna be doing your beekeeping,
over your also gloves and so it took the guy
almost two hours to remove over fifteen thousand bees from
(01:59:36):
this dude's car. I don't know. It doesn't say that,
but uh, he relocated the bees to his property, which
I found interesting. Also, only one security guard was stung.
Nobody else got got hurt. A good right there. How
about this another story for you. There was a Seattle couple.
They heard a strange noise in their basement, so they
(01:59:59):
checked it out. It turned out to be a fifty
six year old guy out of prison living in their basement.
That's right. So they left there. It left a side
door unlocked as this guy made himself at home, was
there for a couple of days, just eating their food,
and they found him, called the authorities and kind of
(02:00:20):
like the bees were removed. I guess this guy was
removed from speaking. Remember a year ago, I think it
was maybe two years ago, there was a b situation
at a Cincinnati Reds game and they had to bring
in a guy. It seemed like a baseball thing, right, Yeah, clockwork.
Every single year there's some highlight of a game and
the Colorado Rockies are playing, or the Prays or whatever,
(02:00:44):
and it's just nothing but bees. Maybe in St. Louis, Tune,
it's really hot in the summertime, hot and dry. You know. Yeah,
that's your team, the Cardinals, the Cardinalies, that's you. Yeah.
I wonder what they're attracted to. You know, what is
it about a baseball game? Is it a certain food?
I don't know, the color of the various uniforms, maybe
like the padres you think, I don't know. Our time
(02:01:07):
is up. We want to thank you for yours. Have
a happy Easter. Hopefully we'll see you, God willing next Sunday,
right here, same place. How Fox Sports Radio see you. Then,
have a good one.
