Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to what's going on everybody. Hope you enjoying
your Friday evening Saturday morning festivities. I'm gonna get to
the coaching carousel here in a little bit and we're
gonna let our hair down and have some fun all evening.
I do have a couple of adult comments, I know,
very unfun, A couple of adult comments coming up here
(00:22):
shortly with the coaching carousel. But let me start with
the Bucks hashtag fear the deer. That is right, Janice
and the Bucks throttled the Atlanta Hawks in Game two.
Bucks led by as many as forty one points. They
cruise to an easy win. And it's another little tap
(00:44):
on the shoulder. It's just a little reminder, a little
whisper in the year that a series is a marathon.
It's not a sprint. We've seen this time and time
and time again in the playoffs this year. Look at
the clip pers. They've done it twice. They came back
from a two oh deficit in the first round against Dallas.
(01:07):
In the second round against Utah, Clippers came back from
a three two deficit in the first round against Dallas,
right and had to win two straight games. The box
came back from a three two deficit against the Nets.
So the point is, after a Game one surprise win
by the Hawks, very nice win, sometimes there's just an
(01:29):
overreaction of oh Trey Young and oh this feisty Hawks team,
and all right, they won a game, they won a game,
and yet you still get the overreactions left and right.
But Game two was a a message that was received
loud and clear that it is a marathon in these series.
(01:52):
It's not a sprint. And so the Bucks are right
back in it. Man, it was a stink fest for
the Hawks that was brutal. You try all by as
many as forty one points, it is extensive garbage time
at the end. There Trey Young, he weighed in after
his awful evening, only six for sixteen from the field,
nine turnovers. Here's what Trey Young had to say about
(02:15):
his stinky performance. I gotta be better at tink care
of the ball than uh just doing it better job
of just at least getting us a shot and uh
none turns away too much. And I gotta do better.
I will be better next game. So uh definitely a
big reason. Yeah, I have to do better. I will
do better. So says Trey Young. But hey, Atlanta got
(02:38):
the split that they were looking for on the road.
They have to go back and take care of business
in Atlanta. My money is on them not doing so.
My money is on the Bucks at least earning a split. Now,
let me hold it on Janice here before I get
to the coaching cairasel, there's a couple of thoughts on
Jannice twenty five points, nine rebounds, six assists and had
(02:59):
just a sweet finger roll. Remember back in maybe you
don't you might have been born in ninety one at
this ray, Good lord, it's crazy one. For a second,
it's like, that's that's not that long ago. Yeah it was.
It's like a really long time ago. Now we're talking
what thirty years, We're talking three decades ago. It's insane.
(03:22):
But anyway, back in ninety one the finals, if you
weren't a live back then maybe you saw the highlight
of Jordan's with the spectacular move. As Marv Albert said, right,
he looked like he was dunking the ball and then
switched to a sweet lefty layup. It's similar to what
Janice did. It looked like he was gonna just yam
on capella, and then he's like, why don't I just
(03:44):
do something very finesse and switched to a sweet little
finger roll. Here's what Janice had to say about that
dunk turned lay up. I was, you know, going to
my usually move home talking in the basket. But um
at first I wanted to do the bo but I
saw a couple of me one of the best shop
(04:04):
blockers in the league, so I decided to, uh, you know,
avoid him me. Um so, I'm sorry, I just I
this is a glimpse inside my silly mind, so listening
to you, honest. And he is, by the way, a
little little d two are over here. He is the
king of the uh right. And so I've done this
(04:29):
goofy thing where I take Janice's sound and other players
like this, uh, and I mix it with masterpiece, make
him say, uh so, here is one of the Janice remixes.
Uh uh. You'll never hear Janice in a postgame press
(04:52):
conference the same way. You'll never hear the same way.
I've got two. Here's my other Janice. So you know, hey,
this is what you have to look forward to for
the next four hours this evening. But yeah, welcome to
my mind. Over here. But here's my quick thought on Joannice.
(05:15):
We act so spoiled when it comes to Janice. Really,
do you ever see just a spoiled kid. It's like
a little ten eleven year old, just a little torp
just has a lot of advantages, some luxuries. Maybe their
parents shower them with gifts, and they'll have the audacity
to complain about something like, oh, I don't know, like, uh,
(05:42):
I can't even think of something to complain about, right,
I'm not more of I'm not known as a complainer
over here. But a little kid that's too much ice cream?
I I don't know, like right, it's like you're getting
ice cream? Shut up. That's how I feel about Janice.
Janice is an exceptional player, and yeah, absolutely he's got
holes in his game. We all know he can't shoot
(06:03):
the ball. He goes the free throw line, he's a
disaster shooting from outside. He was oh for three from
three point range in game two. So it's not perfect.
But here's the deal. You can't get consumed with perfect
in life. It's like, what are you getting? Are you
getting something that's incredibly good great in instances? Well then
(06:29):
it it doesn't seem to make a ton of sense
to me to only dwell on what isn't perfect or
what is bad with the honest is outside shooting, if
you want to talk about it, great, I'm all ears,
And yeah he does think shooting the ball, but that
isn't all there is to the honest equation. You know,
(06:50):
there's so much more to be honest than just outside shooting.
So a night like game two points, nine rebounds, six
assists and it's a sort of a yawn and nine
no big deals kind of what I do? You know,
that's your honest He didn't even go for thirty minutes.
If that's a full game and they're not blowing out Atlanta, hiss,
(07:10):
that sheet is stuffed even more so. I just think
that was one of those performances where you're reminded, hey,
it isn't all doom and gloom when it comes to Janice.
He does bring a lot to the table. Also, I'm
Brian no here on Fox Sports Radio. Now let me
get to the coaching carousel here. Jason Kidd hired as
(07:31):
the head coach of the Dallas Mavericks and also Dallas
is hiring Nike executive turned GM Nico Harrison that's right.
It's the old let's hire a Nike executive move over here,
straight from the NBA Ownership Handbook of Hey, when hiring
(07:53):
a GM, hire a Nike executive? Weird. I don't know
what Dallas is doing. What are you doing right now now?
One of my two adult comments. We're gonna have fun
all the evening, but you know we gotta pause for
a couple of adult conversations. Here for a second, real
fast with Jason Kidd. The man has a losing record
(08:15):
as a head coach in the NBA. He's three and
one nine and also, Jason Kidd was convicted of spousal abuse.
I was back in two thousand one. So let me
get this straight. He's got a losing record, his wife Peter,
and he's got his third NBA gig real fast, and
(08:36):
I'm not gonna harp on it. If Jason Kidd was
a white guy, Stephen A. Smith would be screaming about this,
just as white privilege over here right when, we won't
hear a word about it. Won't hear a word about it? Now,
if we move past that, Rick Carlyle, who resigned he
(08:57):
had two years left on his deal as the Mavericks
head coach. He left and on his way out, he
endorsed Jason Kidd. Now this is from Rick Carlyle. He said,
I just think that it would be a great situation
for Luca and I think it would be an amazing
situation for Jason. I'm the only person on the planet
that's coached both of these guys and that knows about
(09:18):
all of their special qualities as basketball players. To me,
that would just be a great marriage. But that's just
an opinion. End quote. That's what Rick Carlyle had to
say about it. So he endorsed Jason Kidd. Kid played
eight years for the Dallas Mavericks. Of course, he was
on the championship winning team inven. I just look at
(09:38):
it and say, this is the best opening in the
NBA over the off season, and it goes to a
guy that isn't the best coaching prospect. That's how I
break it down. But hey, look, Jason Kidd, former point guard.
If he's on the same page with Luca, who is
(10:01):
just an absolute phenomen yeah, they could have success. But
I just think that we this is the deal. We
look at Jason Kidd as Jason Kidd, the former player like,
oh man, this guy is really good. Oh Jay Kidd
one of the best point guards of all time. It's like,
we need to look at Jason Kidd the head coach.
Now he's transitioned. Okay, we don't look at Michael Jordan,
(10:24):
the former great basketball player who in my mind, in
most people's mind, is the greatest. We look at Michael
Jordan's who's now a team owner. We're not like, oh
Jordan the go like, We're like, yeah, he stinks. I mean,
getting LaMelo ball is a big deal. But overall, Jordan's
track record as a team owner is awful. It's freaking terrible.
(10:47):
We don't grate on a curve, and I don't think
we should grade on a curve when it comes to
Jason Kidd either. Yeah, he was a fantastic basketball player.
The thing I remember most about his coaching career is
when he was telling one of his players to bump
into him so he could buy some time while he
threw his drink on the floor. Remember that when he
(11:10):
was with the Nets, They're playing the Lakers, trying to
buy some time. He's like, hit me, hit me, It's
like a black jack. He was saying that to a
blackjack dealer. Hit me, hit me. It's kind of like,
what's his face in casino? Help me out? Chris? Who
is the uh pesci Joe? Remember? Like hit me, hit me?
Like That's how Jason Kidd was acting as a head
(11:32):
coach when you are drink in his hand and he
was telling one of his players to hit him so
he could spill his drink. Got find fifty dollars for it.
That's what I remember most from Jason Kidd's coaching career.
So I think we need to think less of Kid
as the former player and more as Kid as the
head coach when he's getting his third head coaching opportunity.
(11:55):
I just think that you could have done better than
Jay Kid. That's just me. Your comments more than welcome.
Feel free to hit me up at the no Show
is where you can find me on Twitter. I'll get
to the other coaching carousel comings and goings if you will.
I'll get the Chauncey Billips with the Blazers, Rick Carlyle
(12:17):
lands with the Pacers real fast, think about this. Rick
Carlyle was in Dallas with Luca don Chitch had two
years left on his deal. He was like, I'm out
of here, I'm resigning, and he goes to the Indiana Pacers,
a team that he coached for four years previously. Who
do you think has the better gig right now? Is
(12:38):
it Jason Kidd with Dallas or is it Rick Carlyle
with Indiana? It's Jason Kidd by Miles. I don't know.
I would love to know. If it was just friction
between Carlyle and Don Shitch, there is way more than
that story. Then we seem to know to leave that gig.
(13:04):
When Mark Cuban he even came out and he was like, look,
Rick Carlyle is not going anywhere, and he said, this
is my philosophy on coaching a lot of people that
think the grass is greener on the other side unless
you get much much much better. No, I'm not making
a change. Carlyle will be back. He had the backing
of Mark Cuban. He's got a phenomenen Luka don Chi
(13:26):
and he's like, I'm leaving Indiana. Sounds better? What that is?
Mind blowing stuff right there. But it leads to the
thought of hey, maybe lucas hard to get along with.
May maybe Luca understands how great he is and that
that's not a great thing for certain players. Right, some
(13:48):
players realize how great they are and it doesn't go
to their head. They don't get power drunk other players
that swings the other way, and with Carlyle just up
and bolting, it leads to serious questions about how easy
is Luca to get along with. There were all these
those reports about Luca and Carlyle butting heads, so it's
something to pay attention to going forward. But Carlyle lands
(14:11):
with the Pacers, Jay Kidd with the Dallas Mavericks. Okay,
plenty to get to. Like I said, I'll get to
Chauncey with the Blazers. Also, let's switch gears here coming
up next. Uh, there is a change that's about to
happen in the NFL, and it leads to I guess
(14:33):
I'm not trying to swing the other way just for
dramatic purposes, but it seems like I'm the only one
that thinks this. We'll see if you're on board with
me or not. I'll lay it out for you. I'm
Brian no Oh. By the way, let me remind you

Jonas Knox tonight man, they've been working j Knox like
crazy over here, right. I was. It was funny. I was.

it was almost three am, and I uh I noticed
Jonas tweeted He's like, hey, catch me in Brady Quinn
right now live on the air. I'm go shoot Jones
(16:00):
about to go on the air right now. This yeah,
Jonas is uh, it's a hard working man these days.
You know, Clay Travis doing the political radio now, so
Jay knocks getting a lot of fill in work, so
um in for Jonas. So we'll have some fun tonight.
But feel free to hit me up eight seven seven
nine on Foxes your phone number. I'm gonna get to
(16:22):
the crew here momentarially, but let me throw this at you.
So I'm sure you heard the NFL will allow throwback
helmets starting in two So next year we get to
throwback helmets, which opens the door for a throwback uniforms.
Let me some throwback uniforms. So I didn't realize this,
(16:44):
but teams were not allowed to have a secondary helmet.
This was back in the NFL did the campaign Matumbo,
no no, no, no, no more secondary helmets because there
were concerns that wearing more than one helmet might lead
to a safety issue for players. And so the NFL says,
(17:06):
you know what, we could probably just have them where
an alternate helmet that's the same as their primary helmet
in terms of make, model size. And they also threw
this out there too, that the alternate helmets have to
be worn in practice. The week of the game that
(17:26):
they'll be used in if not beforehand. So that's what
the NFL is doing. This won't be this year, it
will be in now. It leads me to this. When
the news broke, of course, we start reminiscing about the
great uniforms of years ago. Oh man, those those Houston
(17:47):
Oilers uniforms. I love those uniforms, right with the old
school oil Derek and beautiful uniforms. And then it gets
to oh and yeah, those those Tampa Bay cream Sickle uniforms.
And that's where I go exit stage left on you.
I don't understand why the Tampa cream Sickle uniforms are
(18:13):
just drooled over as if they were good. They were
freaking terrible. They are the most overrated throwback uniforms ever, ever, ever.
You know what Tampa's cream Sickle uniforms are. I was
giving probably way too much thought to this, Tampa's cream
Sickle uniforms. They're like reminiscing about an X. You know,
(18:37):
do you ever have an X where you're like, oh, yeah,
I remember where we went to wherever or we took
that vacation. Oh that was a fun memory. You remember
the happy times. That's kind of what Tampa's uniforms are, like,
Oh yeah, I remember those days with that dude on
their helmet and the the creamsicle uniforms, Like, yeah, we
had some good times. But similar to a relationship, if
(19:00):
you actually got back together with that X instead of
just reminiscing you got back together more times than not,
you would realize, oh, this sucks. No wonder we broke up.
That's what Tampa's uniforms are, like, all of these Oh,
(19:21):
that's awesome they're bringing them back. Yeah, maybe for week eight.
The nostalgia. Fine, if you're seeing those Tampa uniforms weekend
in week out, it'd be dreadful. That is the way
to gauge whether a throwback uniform is top shelf or not.
(19:41):
If you saw those things weekend and week out, would
you still think they're awesome? For me? Tampa? No. Then
I went back in the hot tub time machine the archives.
Over here. This was Warren Sap. He was on NFL
Networks America's Game Now. He was talking about growing up
in Orlando as a kid, they used to get the
Bucks games. Listen to what he said about the team
(20:04):
and those uniforms in particular. Here it was an absolute
nightmare to watch that ugly teaging playing those ugly uniforms
in that big high school stadium. Yeah. Amen. It just
cracks me up when I hear all these comments, Oh
my gosh, we get to break out the cream sickles,
this is amazing. Now, not really, it's not at all.
(20:28):
Uh if you had to break those out weekend and
week out. I do like some of the throwbacks, so
even you know what, even the Seahawks throwbacks. I'll be
honest with you here. I like the nostalgia of it.
Think about the Kurt Warner like Steve Large and old
school uniforms, right, but their uniforms now are way better,
(20:52):
like just not even close, way better. It's just funny, man.
There's just something about the asked. It's a little bit
like this too old school video games. I'm not a
huge gamer, but there is there's something near and dear
to my heart. There was this old school game for
Nintendo just called Baseball. That's it. It is the first
(21:15):
game I had, and it sucks. It's a terrible game.
At the time, I didn't know that. I thought it
was stated the art if I just for the nostalgia
of it. If you hooked up the old school Nintendo
game Baseball for me. In my mind, I would know
it sucks, but there's just something about, ah, it's a
blast from the past. I think that's mainly the deal
(21:38):
with throwback uniforms. But I think you gotta say it
like that. If you say, you know, I kind of
like the nostalgia of the Tampa uniforms. Great. But if
you're like, oh man, those uniforms are clean, those uniforms
are legit. Love those things, I'm like, ah, you lost me,
You lost me last little nugget on this, and I'll
get to k fig true NFL style, typical NFL jess
(22:00):
when they're unbuttoning the top button and let's let it
breathe over here. Let's not be so serious. NFL. They're like,
all right, let's get the throwback helmets back. Let's have
some fun over here. The NFL is saying that teams
have to alert them by July thirty one this year
(22:24):
of their plans for their alternate helmet next season. Does
that make any sense to you? The NFL is like, okay, teams,
we're gonna have some fun, but we got a timeline
here by no By July thirty one. We need to
know what your plans are for your ultimate alternate helmets
for the two season, like, well more than a year away,
(22:48):
we need to know your plans. It's where do you do?
I thought we were gonna have a little fun here,
and they're like, let's have some fun. There's a timeline.
There's a deadline over here. Let us know a year
plus in advance what your helmets will be. So it's
it's a process. The NFL is not the uh, the
(23:10):
loosest organization, not the loosest bunch over here, but God
bless them, they're trying. Okay, let's get to k Fig
and the crew. First off, Kevin figures to spin us
around the sporting landscape. What's going on? Oh, a lot
going on, especially in the college baseball worl out there.
Brian knows some breaking news. Number one just came off
of a two and a half hour weather delay. They're
(23:31):
still playing baseball in Omaha, Nebraska, although it just went final.
Sex is able to hold on for an eight to
five victory over Mississippi State, so they forced an elimination
game coming up on Saturday. But also just moments ago,
the n C double A Baseball Committee announcing that dudes
A health and safety protocols. Saturday's scheduled contest between Vanderbilt
and NC State has been declared a no contest. The
(23:53):
Commodoors will advance to the championship brown. Of course, this
is on the heels of NC State, Yeah, only having
thirteen available players doing Friday's game. They put up a
pretty good effort, by the way, at the tying run
on first base in the final inning. Now, whether or
not there have been more WOLFAG players placed on protocols
or not, I'm not really sure about that. That hasn't
been reported as of yet. But the committee did cite
recommendations from the local health department as well as the
(24:15):
World Series medical team. So yet again, Saturday's elimination game
between Vanderbilt and NC State ruled a no contest because
of COVID protocols, Vanderbilt advancing to the championship round, which
will start next week onto the NBA. The Eastern Conference
Finals tied at one a piece, Bucks Moley whapping the Hawks,
Yeah said to the couple lead all scorers with twenty
(24:37):
five points, Trey Young fifteen points, but committed nine turnovers
in the loss. Kauai literally listed as out for Game
four of the Western Conference Finals. The Clippers will host
the Sons on Saturday night. Chauncey Billips Clippers assistant, reportedly
finalizing a contract to become the Blazers new head coach.
Jason Kitts had to become the head coach of the
Dallas Mavericks. Tampa Bay Lightning headed back to the Stanley
Cup Final after and one nothing victory over the Islanders
(24:59):
in Game seven Friday night, Yanni Gord scoring the goal
winning goal in second in the second period. Tampa host
Montreal in Game one of the finals on Monday, and
some Major League Baseball Fernanatas Junior declining an option to
go to the Worm. Run Derby had his own personal
home run. Derby on Friday night, three home runs leading
the Padres over the Wolf all Arizona Diamondbacks, who have
lost twenty four consecutive road games, and j Pollock to
(25:21):
go ahead home run for the Dodgers with a six
two victory over the cub snapping a four game losing streak,
and the Giants with a shutout victory over Oakland to nothing.
Back to Brian No thank you, k Fig Man, I
feel horrible for the wolf Pack, right, I thought you
were gonna say, and they're they're postponing it, right, I
thought they were going to delay it, and you're like, no,
just we're just saying that's a no contest. In Vanderbilt
(25:44):
they advanced to the next round. That's rough, right. You
really feel for those kids who have worked so hard
all season long to make it to this point, and
they basically didn't even have an opportunity to leave it
out on the field, even if I had to play shorthanded.
You know, look, their head coach even asked them before
the game on Friday, do you guys want to forfeit
this game and take our chances in an elimination game tomorrow?
And they said no. So my guess is I have
(26:05):
to again this is just a very uneducated guess. More
players have been placed in protocols to where they just
cannot feel the full healthy roster. You know, it's crazy
to k fig where you mentioned they they played them tough.
I think it was three one. Yeah, what if they won? Right? Like,
where's the College World Series of fancy State pulled it
(26:26):
out on Friday night. It's a good question. I don't know. Well, yeah,
they're not gonna say well, regardless if they face Texas
or Mississippi State, like, uh, you know, we're just gonna
rule it in no contest, they wouldn't be doing that.
So but you also have to wonder how long can
you delay it. I mean, these protocols are anywhere between
(26:46):
ten days and in ten and fourteen days, you obviously
can't draw out the tournament that long. So sure, I
don't know what what they will be in in the
in the heck of a bind at that point, I
really don't know what they would do had that situation
presented itself. Yeah. Wow, that's crazy. And it's one of
those things too. I listen, I think that you know,
when it comes to the vaccine and COVID and all,
(27:08):
this is like I think people are over it. But
here's the thing, it's just another reminder where you know,
like with Chris Paul, we saw that in the NBA
contracted COVID and with NC State, but you mentioned only
thirteen active players were available. It's it's one of those
where I think just because you're tired of the pandemic
(27:29):
doesn't mean it's over because of that, right, Like and
I'm not saying you've got to sit there in your
home in the feudal position, scared to do anything. But
it's one of those deals where I think it can
be misleading where you have this false sense of it's
over when it's actually not. You know, like you see
these crowds at the College World Series and they're just
(27:49):
going nuts their maskless, and it's like, all right, we're
through this thing. And NC State their baseball team, half
of it contracting COVID. It's like, oh, that's right, it's
it's not quite done yet. Yeah. And the the vaccine
or not the vaccine. This happened with the Yankees at
eight or nine. No coaches and players all of them
were vaccinated, and yet all of them were positive. So
just because your vaccine, it doesn't mean you can't get
(28:10):
it on. Your symptoms are are less if you have any,
but even then you can still put other people at risk.
So I I understand why they made the decision they made,
But again, you feel for the NC State kids for sure,
no doubt. I wonder if the N State players were vaccinated.
That's the other question, Like, and I believe their head
coach was asked about it. And he didn't really comment
(28:31):
too much on it, so I don't I don't blame him,
you probably you know. It's look, I I wouldn't be
in the business of, you know, uh, divulging that information
if my players didn't want it out there. So I'm
faults him for that. But if you're not vaccinated right now, man,
you gotta be kicking yourself. If dude, you're one game
away from getting to the College World Series. Like really,
(28:54):
if if you haven't been vaccinated, I don't know what
you're doing. If you're in athletics unless they're some health reason,
there's religious reasons, there's something legit. If you're like no,
I don't know, I'm kind of yeah, yeah, yeah, I
think you'd be kicking yourself right now if for nothing
else to have, you know, fewer restrictions held against you,
like like everyone has the right to do what they want,
(29:16):
you know. Cole Beasley got into some you know issue
last week when he went off about this, and look,
if you were well within, you're right to not be
vaccinated if you don't want, but realized there are certain
restrictions that are laved against you. So I mean, if
you're okay to live with that then by all means.
But if you're not, don't complain about it. You know
what the solution is? Yeah, each of the stuff, good stuff,
(29:36):
k fig. We'll uh, we'll chat some more. We'll chat
it up all evening. Yeah, look forward, let's get into
the Raiders offensive line depth chart and everything a little
bit later in the show. It's not that good. How
about there's here's your looking to the Raider's offensive line depth. Nope,
Where's I don't see Rodney Hudson. Where's Rodney Hudson that's
made his way down to the desert the No? Yeah, well,
(29:59):
one of the best sent was in the game the
last six seven years. Yeah, let's get Chris in here
while we're introducing the crew. Let's go around the room here, Chris,
you are on cloud nine? Is that correct with your
Detroit Pistons landing the number one pick? Yeah? Are you
one of these fans that you know? We get all
(30:19):
these superstitious fans over there. Do you do anything for
the draft lottery as a Pistons fan trying to get
the juju in your favor? I'll be honest, I didn't
even watch. I forgot that the draft was on that night,
I completely but I saw my timeline explode explode. I
saw one of the beat writers like counting down and
as soon as they said, you know, oh here it
(30:40):
is okay Houston second, I'm like, all right, yeah, no,
this is great. Wait a minute. So there was a
Pistons beat writer that was counting down on Twitter. He
was like announcing which teams were have we're getting which pick.
It was just like rapid, like three tweets in succession,
and I started counting the teams in there. I'm like,
wait a minut that we just got the first overall pick.
(31:03):
How cool is it that Katee Cunningham is only working
out He's only working out for Detroit And it's made
a lot of fans on Twitter, Matt, It's a lot
of It's a lot of league fan boys and fans
of other teams. Who wants to go to Detroit? Who
wants to go there? I I also have to know
(31:23):
push back on some of the Pistons fans who have
who are talking about how successful the team is maybe historically,
but I'm of a big belief of if you wait
first year last and honestly, the Pistons championships are a
little tarnished. It's been a minute, it's even a minute
since they've been good and in the playoffs. But this
is kind of life in the n b A. You
get to either be a nobody or somebody, and only
(31:45):
a couple of teams basically get to be a somebody
seemingly every year in the eyes of of the media.
And that's like the Lakers and the Celtics, and that's
really about it. Everyone kind of rotates, and yeah, the
Pistons haven't won anything right now, but it feels good,
and it feels like maybe there's a light at the
end of the tunnel of what has been just an
atrocious gosh over ten years now andous just a decade
(32:12):
of just non competing ever since, ever since we trade.
There's the deal. You're turning into Andy Ferman talking about Cincinnati. Here,
I throw your bone with Detroit and you're off on
a tirade, right, it's just soliloquy city. And then it
was it was And I've been trying to get season
off my chest and as yours a thought about oh six,
(32:33):
and you know you're often running over here, Chris, I
start the whack off right now, No I I did
want to say though, on the on the COVID vaccine
that you guys are talking about, it's this isn't gonna
go away too. Like you know, I cover the NFL,
and man, you I I know we just rate Cole
Beasley over the fires. But he's not alone on players
(32:56):
just not just interested in taking the vaccine for one
isn't or another. And I'm not saying that's right or wrong,
but it's just the reality of the situation. It's reality
situation with NC State is that for whatever reason, there's
a lot of athletes who are not taking the vaccine
and that's going to be the result is you're just
gonna see a lot of games postponed, canceled, held off,
(33:17):
or players held out because they test positive. Well, that's
the thing, real fast is with Cole Beasley, my whole
thing is just make a good argument, whatever your stance is.
That's why I love debating, because if somebody thinks of
something differently than I do, but they support it really well,
I find that to be incredibly compelling. So I don't
(33:39):
automatically just disregard someone that has a different like stance
than I do. It's just when you support your stance horribly,
and that's what Cole Beasley did. Cold Beasley is basically like,
I want to live my laugh ouver I want to
and it's like, not as an NFL player, you're not.
That'd be like saying, these NC State players that contracted COVID,
(34:02):
they can't sit there and be like, so what, let's
just play. It's like, no, you can't do that. You
have to be tested every day if you aren't vaccinated,
like Cole Beasley will have to be you got a
mask up. Yeah, yeah, it's just I I respect a
good argument, but at the same time, it is a
cold hard fact if you are not vaccinated, you can
(34:22):
contract the the virus. And guess what if you're an athlete,
that means you're putting your playing time at risk, You're
putting your team's eligibility at risk. That's just the react.
That's just the fact. You cannot argue with that. It
doesn't care about your feelings there, end of story. I mean,
but if that's if that, and again, if you want
to roll the dice, then that is your prerogative. Just
and I think fans should at least be aware that
(34:44):
you know, if you have fun vaccinated players this is
gonna be the reality of it. You're gonna have games
postponed or canceled. You will. And that's why you see
some so many of these teams, the bills included, they're
pushing like please get vaccinated? What are you doing over here?
And with Cole Beasley just made a bad He made
a bad, bad argument. That's the thing. It's just support
(35:06):
your stance better. He Why would I? Why would I
take preventative measures? I don't have COVID. It's like, dude,
are you he's really that's your that's your argument? Here?
Are you kidding? Yeah, he's made a bad argument, but
he's definitely he's got himself an audience at least now,
so I guess he scores a little bit. It's like,
I don't want an audience for making an idiotic statement.
(35:29):
Anybody can make idiotic statements. Um, and that's what he did.
But uh, you're right, he does have an audience. All right,
coming up next. This is not a ringing endorsement whatsoever.

(36:11):
time for positivity, just all over the place right in
the NFL. It's the off season. Just reign supreme, just
gushing comments. Ah, this quarterback looks amazing. Oh man, this
wide receiver. I can tell why we use the first
round pick on this guy. YadA YadA, YadA YadA. So
(36:32):
let's get you a taste of some of the ringing endorsements.
When I say great leader as a head coach, just
think leadership. You know, Stoic who comes to mind, Maybe
you have a couple of guys in mind, maybe Belichick
comes to mind. I'm very, very excited about it. First,
here is Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. Daniel Jones talking about
(36:56):
that great leader, Joe Judge. He's a great lead or
I think, you know, every time he's up in front
of the team, everyone's, you know, listen to, everyone's sitting
up straight and locked into what he's saying. I think, uh,
he certainly has a respect of the team and the guys.
And you know that's because you know how well he
knows the game, how well he knows the game across
the board, offense, defense, special teams. He just knows football. Okay,
(37:18):
all right, so Giants keep be talking about his head coach,
Joe Judge. Great leader, great leadership, knows his stuff. Okay,
you might have heard this about a week ago. We're
talking about offseason optimism. This is top shelf. This is
first ballot Hall of Fame, in the SoundBite Hall of Fame. Now,
(37:39):
this is Robbie Anderson at the Carolina Panthers talking about
Sam Donald. Here you go. You know when a person
that you can see like a glow on them, you
know they're energy to or I can kind of view
that when I walked into building and you know, just
being around him, that is my favorite. I would hug
that audio if I could. Robbie Anderson can see Sam
Donald's ara. That is a June sound bite right there.
(38:05):
You know what I'm saying, like, it's just optimism reign supreme.
Now I lead you to this Urban Meyer. Okay, he
was talking to USA Today Sports. I was talking about
one Tim Tebow. Now listen to what urban Meyer says,
Now again, this is the time for mass optimism. Just
(38:27):
class half full. Oh it looks great in practice, like
fill in the blank looks amazing in practice. That's how
it goes. Not so much what urban Meyer talking about
Tim Tebow? Check this out. To me, he's one of nineties.
He's a guy that's you know, what's the difference between
him and the other forty guys trying to make the team?
To me, it's all the same. They're it's this is
(38:49):
they're likely know what, this is a job. This is
a way to make the living in reality is that
you know, a good percentage of your roster is gonna
get cut or transitioned out of here, which to me
that that's completely new. In college, you got guys and
fit them in and you put the puzzle together different here. Yeah,
that's uh, that's it's not a great sign for the
(39:14):
for the people out there that are envisioning great success
for Tebow. Yeah, again, this is the time for mass optimism,
just almost to a h a lunatic level, if you will.
I've heard that's where it's like, wait, what run that
(39:37):
by me again? We're seeing Sam Donald's aura and urban
Meyer is like Tim Tebow's one in ninety right now,
he's one of ninety guys trying to make the squad.
That's telling to me. And you might sit there and
be like, Brian, you're reading into it too closely. I
don't think I am when this is the time for
gushing optimism. And urban my her, his former college head coach,
(40:02):
is like, hey, it's one of ninety. Spoiler alert, Tim
Tebow is not making that team. I'm sorry, and we
don't need to get into the whole thing. No, I'm
not rooting against the guy. I'm just looking at it objectively.
He's playing a brand new position. He's going to turn
thirty three here, he's not making that roster. And I
(40:25):
think urban Meyer's non optimistic, non gushing comments and the
time for exactly that alludes to that. All right, coming
up next? Was it one hideous performance or a sign
of things to come that is on the way? Keep
it locked. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk

(41:28):
what I love that the warm weather is here. Hey listen.
If you're in a drought or something crazy like, that's
not cool. But man, it's nice to have the warm
weather back again. I was grilling out on the porch today.
It was beautiful. It's beautiful thing. I told the guys
(41:49):
just a little bit. Agum, I'm like, I'll be right back.
I had to turn the air down. It's hot near.
That's a I'm about to skate town in Portland here momentarily.
Um probably next week I'll be leaving here. But that's
where I physically am right now, but it was it
was nice in Portland's You know, I'm not gonna give
you a full weather reports. Probably don't care, but there's
(42:10):
about two months, roughly two months where the weather is very,
very nice, and so we're finally there and now I'm leaving.
It's kind of crazy all that works out. But in
any event, I was on the porch grilling a stake
today and it was just beautiful love that. I love
the heat. I'll take the heat over the cold any
any day, even blistering heat. I'll take that happily over
(42:34):
the cold. I can't do the cold anymore. All right,
let me start with this here. Let's go to uh
Los Angeles where the Clippers they took down the Suns
in Game three, and I just wanted to focus in
on Chris Paul because Chris Paul was abnormally stinky. Right.
He was five of nineteen from the field in Game three.
(42:57):
And before I give you my throwing my two cents
on Chris Paul, let's hear from Chris Paul himself. Here's
what he had to say about his evening in Game three.
Night we didn't make shots. You could tell they had
you know a lot more energy. I gotta be better.
I shot terrible. I gotta pick up the pace. We'll
be ready game four. Okay. Now, Chris Paul is never
(43:20):
gonna point to COVID as a reason. He's not gonna
make an excuse, nor should he. But here's something to
keep in mind. I really do think that we are
missing the mark when it comes to a lot of
players coming back from COVID. I think that we treat
a player contracting COVID like I just sort of barely
(43:43):
tweaked his ankle, you know, min minor ankle. Sprain missed
a couple of games. We'll be back to his normal
form here, Like, that's not the way it it automatically
works with COVID. There have been a lot of situations.
I think of Seth Curry with the Sixers when he
came back from missing time. He let it be known
(44:04):
he was like, oh man, I was fatigued. I was
having to take naps. I just couldn't get my wind
in games. It took him a long time to get back.
I think back to Cam Newton also. Now, Cam Newton
didn't have a good season altogether, throwing more interceptions than touchdowns,
but in particular when he came back off the COVID list,
(44:29):
it's like there were times he just didn't look right.
He almost looked a little drunk out there. Seriously, he
just he didn't look like his normal coordinated, smooth self,
just like even running the football, you know. And so
that's something to keep your eye on with Chris Paul.
Is he significantly affected, not just because of the layoff.
(44:53):
And I'm willing to think, hey man, he was off
for about ten days. He's a little rusty, he's got
to work back in and yeah, absolutely, but maybe we're
not thinking of this correctly. If it's just give him
one game to get back in the flow of things.
Sometimes your body, depending on how it reacts to the virus. Look,
(45:18):
somebodies are asymptomatic and they're back to normal, and that
could be the case with Chris Paul. Other bodies that
it takes longer. It takes a lot longer to get
back to where you were. And look at Chris Paul
the last series against the Nuggets at a stat line
twenty five and a half points, tennissists, five rebounds. He
(45:40):
was spectacular against Denver. So I don't expect him to
be five of nineteen along those same lines throughout the
rest of this series. But what if he isn't close
to being the spectacular dude he was in the previous series,
that could be enough for the Clippers to win it.
(46:03):
So it's something to keep in mind. And also when
you coupled that with Devin Booker and his nose that's
broken in three places and he's wearing that mask. He
only shot five of twenty one in Game three, So
was that a one time thing or is he gonna
(46:23):
have some problems adjusting to the mask. Like Chris Paul
and Devin Booker to have legitimate major questions about both
of those dudes, Booker with the mask, CP coming back
from COVID, those are legitimate questions. And I just think
with CP, I compare it like this. Think about James Harden.
(46:45):
When you saw James Harden in that series against the
Bucks laboring with the hamstring issue, and you could just
tell it takes you like two possessions and you could
just tell he's not right, he's limited. He stole the ball,
had a fat us break and held the ball up
and you're like, oh gosh, he's not close to being
himself and with Chris Paul. I think it's it's not
(47:10):
as obvious with him coming back from COVID, but it's
like that with other players too. Jayson Tatum of the Celtics,
he came back and he was awesome. He was a stud,
but he was like I had to use my inhaler
as this whole thing, the whole thing coming back from COVID.
So it bears watching. And all I'm saying is, don't
(47:30):
fall into this trap of treating someone coming back from
COVID like, Oh, they just had a minor injury. Hey,
he kind of had this like a little elbow problem.
He missed the game. He'll be back to normal, no problem. Like,
it doesn't always work like that when you come back
from COVID. I'm probably no here on Fox Sports Radio
eight seven seven on Fox is your phone number? Let
(47:54):
me go out to the phones here. Emmett wants to
check in. He's got a thought for me on Trey Young.
I'm curious about this. What's going on, Emmett? What's going on? Brian?
How are you doing tonight? Good? But what's on your mind? Um?
You know, I just think it's not I like Trey
Young I want him to win. I think he's a
really good player and everything. But when you got fifteen
(48:16):
points and you shoot thirty seven percent from the field
and you're your number one option, I just don't see
you winning. I think the Bucks guy figure out, oh
we can lock down Trey Young. They figure out how
to do it, and it kind of concerns me if
I'm a Hawks fan, you know, it kind of concerns
me that the buff can easily start Trey Young. Series
might be a little easier than we think. And I'm
(48:38):
a Waizer fan, by the way, so really hashtag rip
city over there, all right? Nice? Like I would disagree.
I don't think that they've solved Trey Young. I think
you just had an off night. It happens, you know.
It's like and you, yeah, did the Clippers solve Chris
Paul or did they solve Devin Book or I don't
(49:00):
think so. I think some players have off nights, right,
and that was an off night for Trey Young. Nine turnovers.
That's uncommon. Also, I think it's just one of those games.
It's snowball that got away from them. They lost focus.
But like you said, forty eight points in Game one,
I don't think they've they've solved a player like Trey Young.
He's too good for solving for the like the whole
(49:21):
course of a series, you know. But yeah, that was
a step in the right direction for the Bucks though,
that is for sure, no doubt about that. By the way,
talking about the Blazers here, real quick thought, um with
Chauncey Billips being the new head coach of Portland's. So,
like I mentioned, I'm physically in Portland's right now before
(49:44):
I leave, but I'm physically here right now, and there's
been a lot of conversation leading up to this with
just Chauncey Billips being in the mix to be the
head coach. And first things first, I like the Higher.
The main reason I like the hires because Damian Lillard
likes the Higher and you've got to keep your superstar happy.
(50:06):
And so they mentioned Jason Kidd and Chauncey Billips, where
those are the two names that he said that he
would be interested in for the next head coach. So
I think it's important to keep Dame happy and Chauncey Billips.
It's not as if Neil Olsha is hiring some dude
that's just like just this outlandish higher, like, why on
(50:27):
earth would you hire that guy just to appease Dame.
Chauncey is a smart dude. He's been an assistant coach,
he was an All NBA defensive team member twice. That's
been the Achilles heel of the Blazers for a long
time now, especially last year, their defense has just been wretched.
So for Chauncey to come in, he's definitely gonna have
(50:49):
more of a defensive mindset than Terry Stotts had. So
I like the Higher. Now we get to the nuts
and bolts of this thing, we get down to what
truly matter. The reason that Chauncey Billips has been mentioned
a lot here in Portland is because he was accused
of something very serious. He was accused of rape back
in This was a civil lawsuit and it was settled
(51:13):
out of court in two thousand. Now, this is really tricky.
I'll be honest with you, guys. I think it's a
very tricky conversation to have. And this is just my opinion,
not telling you this is what you should think. This
is how I think. I think it's dangerous to act
as if an accusation is the same thing as a conviction.
(51:35):
And don't think I'm saying anything more than what I'm
actually saying. I'm not sitting here saying, oh, because he
wasn't convicted doesn't mean it means it didn't happen. I'm
not saying that. I'm just saying that it's dangerous to
think that they're equal. You know, Chauncey was accused and
(51:56):
he settled, he was not convicted. I think it's very
dangerous to act as if he was convicted, right. I
don't think that's unfair at all now, to be fair,
it's dangerous the other way. Also, I don't know if
he's innocent or guilty. I have no idea. All I
know is that he wasn't convicted and this was just
(52:17):
an accusation. It wasn't even a charge. So with that,
I'm not gonna behave as if he is guilty when
I don't know that to be the case. And I
understand it's a very very you're walking a tight rope here.
I get that, I understand that, but I just think
it's dangerous to assume guilt. I think when you just
(52:39):
hear a certain word, and you you hear a sexual
assault or rape, and I think you sometimes forget what
you typically think or what you tend to agree with.
Where if I just throw this out innocent until proven guilty,
most people would be like, yeah, right on. But I
(53:01):
throw out Chauncey Billups was accused of rape, and there
are a lot of people in this area. They are like, whoa, whoa,
I'm out. I'm out here, and I'm like, wait a minute,
innocent until proven guilty. Yet you're out. And some people
are outraged over this thing. And look, I can absolutely
understand someone saying, ah, you know that, that's a really,
(53:25):
really significant accusation. I'm uneasy with this. I'm uncomfortable. Okay,
I hear you on that. That makes some sense. It's
just for the people that take it to the next
level and they're like, this is garbage. Why would you
hire this guy? And it's like, wait a minute, wait
a minute. I thought you said innocent until proven guilty.
You were down with that, and now you're doing a
(53:47):
one eight. I'm just not going to act as if
someone is guilty when they weren't convicted. That's all I'm saying.
So it is it's a very very tricky situation. But
that's just my two cents. I Um, I think it's
dangerous either way, I really do. I think it's dangerous
(54:08):
to be like, Wow, I wasn't convicted, So I think
it's also dangerous to be like he was accused. Therefore,
what it's the same as being convicted. No, it's not
the same. It's a tricky situation. But it's been a
lot of conversation about that, just when he was in
the like the uh, the interview process, just when he
(54:28):
was being talked about as a candidate for the job.
And now Chauncey has landed the job. And that's a
part of it. I mean, that's a part of the
whole equation here. But in terms of the basketball side,
when Damian Lillard, who like he's got the devil on
his shoulder, whispering to him, hey, do you really want
(54:49):
to stay here? Right like each year like first round
exit disappointment. We've lost in the first round four the
last five years. That devil sprouts up on their shoulder.
Maybe maybe l A, I don't know, maybe maybe New York.
Maybe we just get out of here. What do you think?
So he's been tempted and he's still held true. I
(55:12):
think you have to listen to a guy who has
been that devoted in that loyal to Portland, who is not.
It's not exactly a hotbed for free agency over here.
If he's like, yeah, man, Chauncey Billips, I like what
he brings to the table. You gotta listen very closely
to that. And the Blazers did so. From a basketball perspective.
(55:33):
I do like the hire. And when it comes to
the the civil lawsuit the accusation, I made my thoughts known.
I would not treat an accusation as if it's the
same thing as a conviction. That's just me. You think
what you want to think. But that's how I break
it down, all right. Eight seven seven nine nine on
(55:53):
Fox is how you can reach me? Eight seven seven
six three six nine. Coming up next, the next great personality.
It might not be a name that you're thinking. I'll
give you that story on the way. I'm Brian No,
keep it locked right here on Fox Sports Radio. I'm
Brian here on Fox Sports Radio. And for Jonas Knox
(56:17):
by the way, real fast, I gotta talk some music
with my guy, Chris. Have you ever seen Megadeth in concert? There? Chris,
I don't go to a lot of concerts. That's not
what I asked you. I asked you if I haven't
got a lot of concerts, and thus the odds on
he's saying Megadeth are no, I haven't. So you're telling
me you've never seen Dave Msstain in concert before. If
you're telling me I usuld go to a lot of
(56:39):
very small concerts and when I lived in Savannah, but
concert is not big enough for Megadeth to show up at.
What's the biggest name of a very small concert that
you went to? Probably mastered it on Okay, I saw
a flogging Molly one time in uh, Vancouver, those are
probably the two biggest names. By the way, Um I
(57:00):
saw Megadeth. We call it the Air is Gone Ballroom.
It's the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. It's a great venue,
awesome venue to go see a concert, especially a metal show.
But I saw Megadeth there one time, and so I
pushed my way to the front. It's general admission. That's
the only way to go see a metal show. And uh,
(57:21):
it's funny, like we were packed in there and it's
just it's so hot in there, and I had my
hand just because you're you're so packed. It's like my
left hand was touching my chest. You know, like you're
kind of almost like you've got your arms in front
of you and you're just kind of bracing yourself with
the next dude in front of you, right and uh,
(57:43):
after the show, it's as if, you know, like when
you used to take a bath as a kid, and
your hands turned to like as if you were ninety
years old. That's how my hands were. And I was
passed out. Dude. I don't know what happened. If I
was just I probably just completely hydrated, but I do
I was done. I was like, uh, you know, I
(58:05):
I sweated everything out of my body at that concert.
Since you go to a lot of metal shows, do
you ever go into the mosh pit? Do you do that? Yeah?
I dabbled, Guy, I dabble with the mosh pit. I
don't go crazy, but yeah, I mean you have to
if you go to a metal show, you have to
dabble from time to time, you know. So I mentioned
I went to that Flogging Molly concert that was in
(58:26):
Vancouver when I was up there. That was like about
ten years ago. I went there. So Flogging Molly it's
not exactly metal. It's like kind of Irish rock. But
I went there with a friend who was an Israeli
x I d F guy almost seven feet tall, and
he wants to get into the mosh pit, and I
just look at him and there there is more than
there's almost a foot and a half of difference between
(58:48):
me and him. So I'm just like, you know what,
big guy, you you enjoy yourself. I'm gonna get killed
trying to go in there with you. Yeah, maybe a
wise move. I'd be a wise move on your part.
You're gonna get it no matter where you're at, if
you're at the metal show, if you're closer to the front,
you're just watching the show, and then all of a sudden,
someone's upper torso has just landed smack dab on your head,
(59:11):
and you're like, oh, crowd surfer, and then you know
you kind of pass them along, but you're just minding
your business and foot right to the forehead. Oh, welcome
to the metal show. Head on the swill, Absolutely all right?
With that might not be the smoothest segue. We go
from talking about metal shows to something far more serious.
(59:33):
Now we have to I have to preface this Todd
and Alabama. Now, I guess he works in the criminal
justice system, so I feel comfortable taking the call. We're
talking about Chauncey Billips, and there was a serious accusation
in his past. It's been talked about a lot in
the Portland area. He's just offered the Blazer's job. So
I'm curious what Todd has to say about this situation.
You go ahead, Todd. What I want to say is that, um,
(59:57):
you've got to be careful about the terminology you use
in dealing with Chauncey Billips situation. And I have no
idea whether he did it, didn't do it, whether he's
a great guy, whether he's a horrible guy. So I'm
not talking about Chauncey Billups, but just the legal case
in particular. He was never accused of a crime. If
(01:00:19):
he's in civil court and this was a civil and
and it was a civil settlement, there was never enough
evidence for there to be a criminal case brought against him.
So he's gonna be careful in saying that he was
never convicted. He never had the even option of being convicted.
He could win or lose a civil case, but he
(01:00:40):
could never be convicted so when you say, well, he
wasn't convicted, it implies that he was accused of a crime,
and he actually was never accused of a crime. No,
I understand what you're saying, but that wasn't what I
was saying. Now, I understand that would be your reaction
to it. I was more so so walking about if
(01:01:01):
I'm comparing it to Jason Kidd, who was accused of
a crime and was convicted of a crime. I was
looking at it along those lines where I was just saying,
you know, Chauncey Billips wasn't even convicted. I understand what
you mean is you can't be convicted in a civil lawsuit.
But I'm I'm not saying it along those lines. I'm
(01:01:22):
saying he was never convicted at all. Right, Like so
for anybody who's thinking of, oh, he was in a
civil lawsuit and there was an accusation, that's the same
as a conviction, Like, no, it's not. In my mind,
That's all I'm saying. So I, oh, that makes sense.
I understand what you mean, but don't let that throw
(01:01:45):
you off. I don't know how to say it perfectly
where um, I I don't know how to say it
where yes, that it's it's a it's a tricky thing
because no, that doesn't apply to a civil lawsuit. But
I'm just saying in general, some people are acting as
if he is guilty, and he was he wasn't found
to be guilty, So I think it's dangerous to walk
(01:02:07):
down that road. Hopefully that makes some sense. Okay, Um,
I'm gonna get to this coming up next, the next
great personality. It's really interesting, uh. Column that came out,
So this is from Richard Ditsch, and he interviewed a
couple of TV executives and he's asking them, Hey, who
(01:02:28):
might be the next NFL star, either in the booth
or in the studio. If we're talking about the next
great NFL color commentator or the next great studio analyst,
who do you think it is? So I'll get to
this momentarily. He talked to a couple of heavy hitters
in terms of TV executives when it comes to covering
(01:02:51):
the NFL, and one of the answers really did surprise me.
So I'll run that by you here. Coming up first, though,
k fig our guys spinning us around in the sporting landscape.
What's going on? Kate sick all right, Brian will start
in the NBA the Milwaukee Bucks tying the Eastern Conference
Finals at a game of piece. They notched a one
victory over the Hawks on Friday, the Deer using a
(01:03:13):
twenty to nothing run in the second quarter. There were
fuel by Jansa to Takompo's game high twenty five points.
Trey Young committee a career high nine turnhovers. Game four
of the Western Conference Finals will take place Saturday night,
and Clipper star Kawhi Leonard has been ruled out with
that lingering knee issue. In the College World Series, after
a two and a half hour weather delay, Texas held
on to beat Mississippi State eight to five, forcing an
(01:03:34):
elimination game on Saturday afternoon. Vanderbilt has advanced of the
championship round after the n c Double A Baseball committee
declared Saturday's schedule game against NC State as a no
contest due to Cobra protocols within the Wolfpack program. On
the diamond, the Dodgers got late home runs from Max
Munse and AJ Pollock to beat the cub six to two,
snapping a four game losing streak. Fernanototzi's junior with three
(01:03:55):
home runs for the Padres has A hammered Arizona, Boston,
Atlanta and Tampa Bay with victories. And speaking of Tampa Bay,
the Lightning beating the Islanders in games seven of the
Eastern Conference Finals. They will host Montreal in Game one
of the Stanley Cup Final on Monday. Back to Brian No.
By the way, Kate fig that NC State thing is
really interesting to me. Where the deciding game on Saturday, right,
(01:04:17):
it's ruled to no contest, Like if they had enough
players to feel the team like in the previous game.
Did that change. There's been no official reports on that,
but I have to imagine it had to live, because
otherwise why would you you know, I wouldn't imagine even
if the picture comes out and my arm is tired,
(01:04:38):
they still want to go out there and play. You know,
I'd rather lose on the field than you know, have
to forfeit the game. So my only you know, guess
is they have more players after the game be placed
in protocols to where they just don't have enough healthy
players to actually feel the team right. Yeah, And for
the people listening, don't quote me on this, but I
believe they were down to like four pictures or something,
(01:05:00):
so yes, they were. I don't know all the right, like,
are these relievers? Could they just not make it work?
I'm like you, if you could field a team, even
if it's your middle reliever, has to go with a
a CG. Shut piece over there right like I'm playing
the game. If we can field nine, we're playing. So
(01:05:22):
I would assume something changed, and I'm sure more information
will come out in the coming hours, but as of now,
nothing official from the school obviously, and at this late
an hour, I'm not exactly sure what we would find
out to begin with. But I said they we have
to believe that they just cannot field a full roster,
because otherwise I wouldn't imagine they'd want their season to
end this way. And just think all the layers to
(01:05:43):
where Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt moves ahead, and just think about how
that could change how they go about their business. Right
if they had this deciding game on Saturday, well, and
let's say they win, that's still way different than not
having to play it, and they can change things around.
It could affect there the pictures they use and like
(01:06:06):
all sorts of stuff. So it's a huge advantage for them.
An extra day off is in me as prime real estate.
Now what I mean? That's amazing in a situation like this. Wow,
that's wild right there. All right, thanks Kate fig we are.
We're brought to you by Navy in for hot water

(01:06:30):
Visit Tankless made Simple dot Com and save hundreds with
local rebates. Tankless made Simple dot Com. I'm Brian no
here on Fox Sports Radio. Now I ran across this.
I found it interesting. So Richard Ditch of The Athletic
he interviewed a couple of heavy hitters TV executives and
(01:06:50):
he was asking, Hey, who do you have your eye
on as the potential next NFL star, either in the
booth or in the studio. Oh and so he talked
to Fred Goodelli of Sunday Night Football. He's the executive producer.
And so Fred Goodelli is all about Steelers head coach
(01:07:14):
Mike Tomlin. Now here's what Fred Goodelli says about Tomlin
being possibly the next NFL TV star. Goodelli said, Tomlin,
to me, he would be transformational. He's got a language
all of his own that everybody can understand. He's got
a really expressive personality. You'd want him in the studio
(01:07:37):
so you could see him more. But I think he'd
be equally good on a game. If you said to me,
you can take one guy out of the league right now,
it's not even a hard call. It's Mike Tomlin end quote. Wow,
Now of course that's Goodelli. With al Michael's Chris Collinsworth.
(01:08:00):
Al Michael's routinely shouts out Fred Goodelli, right, and so
Fred knows his stuff. Maybe he's right on this. That
does surprise me, though. Can you, I mean, really close
your eyes and imagine Mike Tomlin either in the booth
as a color commentator or in a studio kind of
(01:08:21):
like a I don't maybe saying Charles Barkley is unfair
to say, because he wouldn't. He wouldn't be Mr Comedy
over there. But whatever, we've seen other coaches, Bill Cower right,
he's been a studio host for a long time. Do
you see stardom written all over Mike Tomlin? I don't.
I think he would be serious. I think he'd be
(01:08:43):
sort of almost drill instructor like, But I I don't know, man.
I think he makes some great points. Is obviously a
very bright dude. But the entertainment factor there like, I
don't know, man, I don't see it there. There was
another person that Ditsch interviewed. This was ESPN vice president
(01:09:05):
Seth Markman. He's asked the same question who was the
next NFL star, either in the booth or studio, and
he was all about Cam Newton. So this is what
Seth Markman says about Cam. He's an interesting one, great
smile and use his personality. I'm intrigued by him. Could
(01:09:26):
you see Cam Newton either in the booth or in
the studio? I could. I could absolutely see that. That
would make sense to me. Cam's got charisma, He's got style.
I think he'd have a lot of personality. He'd be
fun and he knows his stuff. I think he'd be
insightful to I could see Cam working, I really could.
(01:09:48):
But Tomlin, I look, I I'd be surprised. I would.
And I've said that before about a few people either
in the booth um or in the studio, and I've
been pleasantly surprised. I listen, I thought Peyton Manning, I
thought Peyton Manning would be way, way, way too serious. Now,
(01:10:11):
obviously he's not in either just yet. But on Peyton's places,
that's it's hilarious. He's actually really funny. He's he's got
a lot more personality than I ever thought he would.
I thought he would be way too serious, and so
I I don't see the same thing with Mike Tomlin.
But I was pleasantly surprised with Peyton. Maybe I'd be
(01:10:33):
pleasantly surprised with Mike Tomlin. I don't know. But if
you run down that, who do you think would make
either a current NFL head coach or a current NFL
player would be great in the booth or in the studio? Now,
a couple of the coaches, I mean, John Gruden's a gimme,
because he was already great in this in the booth.
(01:10:54):
Bruce arians was in the booth for a little bit,
and he was fun here and there. Like Bruce didn't
take off the same way I thought he would have.
I thought he was gonna be even better at it.
Maybe I don't know, he just needed some more reps
or whatever. I think Sean Payton of the Saints could
do a pretty good job he's kind of a he's
kind of a smartass, right. I could see saying some
(01:11:15):
things and not being ultra pc. I could see him
just letting it rip. And he obviously knows his stuff,
so I think he could work the players, though I
wrote down a couple of players here. I think they
could work either in the booth or in the studio.
I think George Kittle would be great, got a lot
of personality. I think Cameron Jordan's of the Saints would
(01:11:38):
be really good. He does a lot of media stuff
right now, very savvy, funny, smart. I think Jason Kelsey,
that's right, Travis Kelsey's brother. I think Jason Kelsey would
be really good the center with the Eagles. I think
he could tear it up. I think he'd be really
good either in the booth or in the studio as
(01:11:58):
an analyst. I also think Calais Campbell the big man.
Klais Campbell is He's funny, he's an engaging dude. UH
knows football in and out. Really smart guy. I think
he could work really well too. Now some might roll
their eyes at this, and I don't think it's gonna happen,
but I think if he wanted to. I think he'd
(01:12:20):
be pretty successful. I think it's Tom Brady. He obviously
knows the game. I think anything that he would say,
if he's like, yeah, I don't know what that I
don't know why he would call that player, like, think
about that. Anything that Brady would say, it would be
a big deal. If he was ripping a coach or
a decision, or especially if it's another quarterback and I
(01:12:43):
don't know what he was thinking on that plays, that
would be a big deal. I think he could work.
I do, and we've seen over the last year Tom
Brady has a lot more personality than we thought compared
to when he was with the Patriots. I think he
could work. I also think one last one if wanted to,
he can make it work. Aaron Rodgers could, but I
think Rogers would be more of kind of like Jake
(01:13:05):
Cutler right like it amazed me. They gave Cutler a
gig right away and he never went into it. He
went back to playing football. But I think Rogers would
be a little bit like Cutler. If they really wanted
to do it, they could be really good at it,
especially Rogers, but I think they're just like, I'm kind
of over it. Not really into it, and if you
(01:13:26):
have that vibe, it just wouldn't work with the NFL.
The NFL, it's just such a rabid fan base that
a vibe of yeah, this game isn't actually do or
die bro like. I don't think that would fit very well,
but that would be my list. I would go with
Brady Kittle, Cameron Jordan's, Jason Kelsey or Calais Campbell. I
(01:13:50):
think they could all be very successful. Your thoughts more
than welcome at the no Show is where he can
reach me on Twitter. Also, you can call in eight
seven seven on Fox all right, coming up next, This
was just weird. I'll dive into that. I'm Brian no
In for Jonas. This is Fox Sports Radio. I'm Brian
(01:14:10):
no here on Fox Sports Radio. My teas was, this
was just weird. It's about a sports thought, but building
off of that, some would find this to be weird.
I took my Christmas tree down today, took it down
on Friday, and yeah, I left it up for half
the year. It's the last couple of years I've left
(01:14:33):
it up until June. Yeah, I just thought, you know,
my dad's birthday was on Friday, June and I'm like,
happy birthday. Yeah, shout out, Pops, happy birthday to you.
I think he's in dreamland right now. But uh, you know,
uh I thought June, that's that's probably a good day
(01:14:57):
to bring the take the old tree down. You know.
I took it down, and then it dawned on me.
I'm like, we're exactly a half year away from Christmas.
I didn't mean to leave my Christmas tree up for
half the year. I actually left it up for more
because right I put it up before Christmas, It's been
up there for a good seven months. That's a little abnormal,
little abnormal. I love that freaking tree. I love that tree.
(01:15:19):
I i'd, uh, you know, crank that tree up every day,
every evening. You know, it's festive. It's like, you know,
a little smile on my face. But I'm like, you
know what, I wanted to be special when Christmas rolls around,
so I had to I had to take it down.
I had to take it down. Now this in a
(01:15:40):
sports sense, this was just weird to me. We're getting
set for Game four on Saturday night, Big Game, Clippers
hosting the Sun's. Clippers obviously need to win this game
to avoid falling into a three one hole, so it's
a big one when you go back to Game three.
(01:16:03):
I just found it strange. I don't know if I
was the only one, but Kauai Leonard wasn't on the bench.
Kawai Leonard was like in a suite. That's freaking weird
to me. Why why why might not be on the court.
Why not be there with your guys. Kauai has got
that knee injury. It's not like, you know, Kauai was
(01:16:25):
in health and safety protocols or something like that. He's
gonna knee injury, you'd be on the bench. I've seen
many people with many knee injuries that are on the
bench with their teammates. I just thought that was strange
that Kauai wasn't there next to his guys. And look,
Kauai is not your Chris Paul like leader. He's not
(01:16:46):
gonna be a vocal guy. He's he's just gonna do
his thing. He's going to, if anything, lead by example
and by example alone. He is not going to be
that guy on the bench with his teammates, which I get, Okay,
he's not that guy, but I still looking at the
same time, and I'm like, but I think he should be.
(01:17:08):
We're not asking for the sun in the moon over here.
It's like, if you're banged up, why don't you want
to be with your guys? No, you want to be
in a luxury box. I just thought about what if
Lebron did that? Can you imagine the reaction. Lebron has
a knee injury, He's not on the bench with his guys,
(01:17:30):
but he's in the the arena in a luxury box.
Can you imagine what would be said about that? Oh
my gosh. The first thing that would be said, and
I had to even say this, but you know it
would be true, is that's not what Michael Jordan would do, right.
It would be one of those who is Lebron think
he is? Huh? He needed to be fanned and fed
(01:17:51):
grapes while he's up there in the box. It would
be people often running would be open season with Lebron
not being on the bench while injured and in a
luxury box. And with Kauai, it's like, shrug your shoulders.
It's just it's Kauai. It's weird. There was something floating
around the internet. This is I don't know, a year
(01:18:11):
or two ago and it wasn't true, but it was
something about Kawhi Leonard eating an abnormal amount of apples
and then he had some funny line about bring me
more apples. I can't even remember. Yeah, and it's not
even true. Yeah, is that are you on the air, Chris?
Is that what you're saying? Yeah, that's that's that's what
(01:18:32):
he said. That was the fake post, is that he
would cut up a an apple with a knife and
eat it with a fork while saying apple time. And
you'd have him in like a plastic bag. Yeah, right,
Like at first, I'm like I could see that happening
because Kauai is just different, right, It's just a different dude.
(01:18:53):
And uh, it doesn't shock me that he was in
a luxury box instead of on the bench with teammates
because he he just kind of he's his own dude.
But I just I thought that was weird. I thought
that was very strange why he wouldn't be there on
the court with his guys. But we'll see game four
(01:19:14):
if he's gonna be in the box again. I just
the other thing, real fast is I wonder how much
more the Clippers know about the injury than they're letting on.
Do they know that he's got a significant a c
L injury and there's no chance he comes back in
the playoffs. I'm just curious if they know that or not,
(01:19:37):
because it's just do you ever play like a racing
video game and it's got checkpoints. You gotta get to
the checkpoint to keep driving and keep the game going.
It's sort of like that with Kauai. It's just like
checkpoints during the playoffs, but it's Kauai not playing every
single time. You know. It's like, hey, Kauai is gonna
(01:20:01):
be out in game five against Utah, and then it
turns out, well they fear that it's a c L
related and they're like, okay, that doesn't sound good. All right,
It's gonna miss game six against Utah, all right. Then
we got to this series against the Suns. Kauai is
gonna be out games one and two, Okay. Then it's
(01:20:22):
he's gonna be out game three also, right, Like it's
just these little oh by the way, he's gonna miss
this game, and oh, by the way, he's gonna miss
that game, and oh, by the way, he's gonna miss
this other game. I wonder if he's even capable of
coming back. And what's interesting to me is if they
know a lot more about the severity of the injury
than they're letting on, is that the better way to
(01:20:45):
handle it. Yeah. I don't even know if that's the scenario,
but it's an interesting question to me. Let's just say
the Clippers know that it's a severe knee injury and
he's he's not coming back. Is it better to be like, yeah,
he's done for the playoffs here, or is it better
what they're doing and it's just gradually, oh, yeah, he's
(01:21:08):
not playing in this game, but maybe maybe going forward.
I don't know. I don't know if it's for the
psyche of their team or they they think it's better
for their mindset, or I don't know. I don't know,
But all I know is we're getting these gradual checkpoints
of oh yeah, just so you're aware of Kauai is
not playing again, and he's gonna be in the booth
(01:21:29):
or the luxury box, which is freaking weird in my book.
By the way, we'll get back to the coaching carousel
at the top of the hour. I have this question
mark with Gregg Popovitch the Olympics around the corner. Is
Gregg Popovich gonna cut his hair? I've had that on
my mind throughout the day. Is Gregg Popovitch gonna cut
his hair for the Olympics. He's got a long, flowing locks, right.
(01:21:52):
It's it's I think he's gonna have to take that down.
I do. It's not a good and pick. Look alright,
coaching carousel coming up. And also it's another reminder not
to make this mistake. What's going on? I hope you're
enjoying your Saturday morning. So, uh, the Bucks, good lord,
(01:22:16):
Friday Night just waxed the Hawks. In Game two. The
Bucks led by as many as forty one points. That
is an epic beat down right there, led by forty
one and they won going away one by thirty four.
So the Bucks even the series. What what stands out
(01:22:38):
to me is two things. One, it's a reminder not
to overreact to the first game or the first couple
of games of a series. This has happened numerous times
throughout the playoffs. I go back to the Utah Clippers series.
Remember when Utah won the first two games Tames. Oh
(01:23:01):
my gosh, it was like Utahs could accept it. They're
legit and I remember saying at the time, I'm like,
they wanted home. Why are we going nuts for them
winning at home? I didn't buy the fool's gold jazz.
But one of those two wins, the Clippers had beaten
(01:23:25):
Dallas in Game seven, and then two days later we're
playing game one and it's just like, Oh, Utah's for real.
Just overreaction city, total overreaction. And I bring this up
because there have been steady overreactions throughout the playoffs. Take
(01:23:47):
the Clippers again, their first round series against Dallas. They
were down to nothing, they were down three two, and
they came back to win that series. So if you
look at Atlant in a I don't think people were
going crazy that Atlanta won game one and they're like,
they're gonna win this series. But there was a lot
(01:24:08):
of Wow, Trey Young and how are they gonna defend
this guy? And oh, this dude, he's unstoppable. Yeah, the
six for sixteen in game two, he scored fifteen points
on sixteen shots with nine turnovers. You know, Trey Young's
a special player. You're not gonna keep them down like
that the entire series. But they've just been overreactions. Go
(01:24:31):
lower in the playoffs. And it's just funny because every
step of the way in the playoffs, it's another reminder
and another reminder and another reminder not to overreact and
not to forget that these series are marathons. It's not
a sprint. There a long series. Think about Kevin Durant
(01:24:52):
and his epic performance in Game five against the Bucks, tremendous.
Nobody in the history of the NBA playoffs had put
up a stat line like k D did, over forty
five points, at least fifteen rebounds, and tennissists. He's the
only guy, the only one Net's one that game. It
was tremendous. I was actually, I'll tell you a quick
(01:25:15):
story here. So I was doing my weekday show in
Portland when I still had it um, but I was
interviewing Brad Bodkin. Love this dude. He covers the NBA
for CBS Sports. And I interviewed Brad the next day.
So the Bucks lost Game five, k D was tremendous.
(01:25:36):
Nets win that game, and I said to Brad, I'm like,
this might sound like a stupid question, maybe, but do
the Box have a better chance than the Nets, even
though they're down three to to win this series because
the Nets have a hobbled Harden and no Kyrie Irving.
And Brad was like, that's stupid. That's just a stupid question.
(01:25:58):
I'm paraphrasing, but that's basically what it was. And he
was like, you know, Reggie Miller, he went out and
threw it on Twitter and he was like, is it
better for the Nets to rest k D in game
six and just prepare for Game seven? And he was like,
you said something that was about as stupid as that.
So long story short, we made a bet on it.
(01:26:20):
We bet a hundred bucks. I went with hashtag fear
the Deer and then he had to give me odds,
so he put a steak dinner on top of it
and the Bucks came back to win. But the point
is this, I think that a lot of times we
overreact to the thing. We just saw it last I mean,
(01:26:40):
now that we're in the conference finals, it's happened in
the West. The Sons won two games at home. They
shouldn't have even won one of those two games, right
with Paul George missing the two free throws and then
the inbounds passed from Jay Crowder to DeAndre Ayton like
had no business winning that game. The Suns did, and
(01:27:03):
it turns into oh my gosh, the Clippers Sons are
gonna take it, and it's like, I don't know, I'm
not too sold on that happening. It's these are long series,
that's all. So with the Bucks coming back after a
disappointing Game one loss, Milwaukee failed to execute late. They
(01:27:25):
just opened a can on the Hawks and game too,
leading by as many as forty one, and it's just
an important reminder of, hey, hey, don't blow things out
of proportion, especially early on in the series and especially
this year. Also, you know, it's weird Chris Paul comes
back and it was a bad thing in Game three. Now,
(01:27:49):
don't get me wrong, getting Chris Paul back is overall
a very good thing for the Phoenix Suns. They're going
to need him to win it all. So I'm not
gonna be I'm not gonna be a victim of what
I'm just explaining. Don't overreact to what you Jess saw.
I'm not gonna sit here and be like Chris Paul
was bad in Game three. He's bad for the Sun's No,
(01:28:10):
that's stupid, that's overreacting to one game But the weird
twist is getting Chris Paul back for Phoenix is a
good thing, but at least in the short term for
Game three, it didn't work out. One thing to keep
your eye on. Sometimes dudes that come back from contracting COVID,
it takes them a while to get back into the flow.
(01:28:34):
So I'm just curious. I'm curious how long it's going
to take Chris Paul to get back to where he was.
He was unbelievable against the Denver Nuggets. His numbers were outrageous,
over twenty five points, ten assists, right five boards. He
was outstanding in that series. So how long does it
(01:28:55):
take him to get back to that after the long
layoff and after contracting COVID. Some players bodies, they don't
respond well. Seth Curry with Philadelphia took him a long time.
He went into great detail. He's like, I'm just sluggish,
I have no energy. There are plenty of games he
couldn't buy a shot. So I'm just curious, what are
(01:29:16):
we exactly looking at with Chris Paul going forward after
he contracted COVID. I think we missed the mark a
lot of times with that. We treat COVID like, ah, yeah,
yet uh kind of like a tweaked wrist missed a
gamer too. He's back, He'll be fine, as that doesn't
work all the time with COVID when you come back.
So we'll see. I'm curious if Chris Paul rebounds in
(01:29:38):
game four or not. But don't be shocked. Don't be
shocked if Chris Paul doesn't resemble his studley self from
that series against Denver, it might take him a handful
of games to get back into the flow. I'll Brian
know here on Fox Sports Radio eight seven, seven ninety
nine on Fox is your phone number, by the way,
shout out here. This is from Jordan's I was randomly
(01:30:01):
talking about Kauai Leonard and I just said I thought
it was weird that he was in the luxury box
for Game three instead of on the bench with his teammates.
If you're a leader, if you're not playing because of
a tweak knee, a true leader would want to be
there on the floor. He'd want to interact with his guys.
(01:30:22):
He'd want to give him some advice, he'd want to
fire him up whatever. And Kauai is not that guy.
He isn't I think it's weird that he's in the
luxury box. I think he should be on the floor.
But I just said also that Kauai is a different dude.
And there was this story about Kauai eating apples. The
(01:30:43):
story is not true whatsoever, but man, whoever came up
with it, they did an exceptional job of coming up
with something that was totally believable. He just totally believable.
So shout out to Jordan's He tweeted at me this
story again, this is fake, but just listen to it.
(01:31:03):
While with the Spurs, Kauai was known for his love
of red apples. One time, after practice, everyone decided to
go out for a team dinner. When it was his
turn to order, Kauai waved off the waiter and instead
pulled out a bag of twelve apples. Coach Popovich asked
what he was doing in Kauai simply replied, apple time,
(01:31:26):
Apple time. He then ate all twelve apples with a
knife and fork. I I so wanted that to be true,
and it is. It's so believable. And I remember in
the moment thinking, man, that does sound pretty believable, and
then shortly after that it was like, now it's it's
(01:31:47):
not true. It's like some onion type stuff, you know.
But man, they did a great great job making up
something that was totally not true whatsoever. It's a shout
out to whoever did that in a way. But yeah,
I think it's weird. I think it's weird that quiet
and on the bench with his guys. Now, one other
(01:32:07):
thing I wanted to get to here real fast, So
I mentioned there was this story I ran across from
Richard Ditsch. He's with the Athletic and so he interviewed
a couple of TV executives and he was asking them
who they had their eye on to be the next
NFL star, either in the booth or the studio. And
so Fred Gidelli, executive producer for Sunday Night Football, he's
(01:32:32):
got his eye on Mike Tomlin, the Steeler's head coach.
Toblin would certainly be no nonsense, just a matter of fact.
I don't think he'd be Mr Comedy. I don't think
he'd be cracking jokes left and right. I'd be pleasantly
surprised if that were the case. So I don't see
that one. Also, esp AND Vice President Seth Markman said
(01:32:55):
he thinks Cam Newton could be really really good. I
could see that now, Nick Battalia, do not pronounce the
G in Battalia. He's got a couple of thoughts here
on the potential next great NFL star in the booth
or studio. Who is on your shortlist? Nicky b So,
(01:33:17):
I have two names, starting with the coach. You know,
you need someone if you're doing an analyst job, I feel,
or even in the booth, need somebody with energy. I
think Pete Carroll would be interesting. And then for player
Taylor Lawan the Titans. Okay, yeah, he does the podcast
and all that. He's very you know, high energy guy.
(01:33:37):
I think you know he it's It's interesting, it would
be I think it'd be an interesting, uh dynamic we
put Taylor Lawan on the I think I don't think
you put in the booth. You probably put him in
the studio. But I think it would be an interesting
dynamic form you know, being offensive lineman. You know, just
it would be would be really really interesting. I could
(01:33:58):
see it working out. The one thing I thought about Pete,
and this sounds like a weird comment, but I think
it's true. I think Pete would be like Gruden. You
know everybody. So here we go again with the positivity
of Gruden. I think Pete would be like that times ten.
He's such a positive dude. I have a hard time
envisioning Pete being like, what was that coach thinking when
(01:34:22):
he called the goal line fade? Or well, you know
what I mean, Like, I think it would just be
this player is awesome. Oh man, what a what a throw?
Oh what a catch? Like I think it would be nauseating.
I mean, this is also you know, the guy who
coached the team that didn't run the ball. With Marshaw
on the goal line, you get that interesting dynamic if
he ever did question someone, especially on the goal line,
(01:34:44):
for what they ran. Of course everybody would harken back
to the Super Bowl you're talking about against the Patriots. Yeah,
you get some entertainment. But uh yeah, I don't know.
I think you'd be uh. I think he'd be so positive.
It might be to the point where it was distract thing.
I don't know, But he'd have enthusiasm, he'd have passions.
Maybe it would work. Maybe. So you know what's crazy too,
(01:35:07):
is last thing I'll say about this is Pete Carroll
is getting up there in age and The first thing
I think of is if he went into the booth
or the studio. It's like, how long would he do it?
And then I think immediately, but he's still coaching in
the NFL right Like, it seems kind of like a
silly thought to be like, yeah, but how long would
(01:35:28):
he be in the booth when he's still on the
sidelines right now? But I don't know how long he
would do it either. In any event, feel free to
hit us up eight seven seven six three six nine
is where you can reach me. Also on Twitter at
the No Show Israel, you'll find me as well. Okay,
(01:35:49):
coming up next, What in the world is this organization thinking?
I'm Brian no keep it locked right here on Fox
Sports Radio. I'm Brian No here on Fox It's radio.
I don't know. It's something some of the music that
you play, Chris, I just feel like trading concert stories,
you know, curious trade. Yeah, yeah, I'm curious of k
(01:36:13):
fig or Nikki be have any crazy concert stories. Let
me start with you, k fig Um any of the
concerts that you've gone to, whatever genre, anything wild happened
or memorable, anything funny, just something that pops to mind.
Most memorable thing. There is a there's a rapper named
(01:36:33):
lib Quilly and David Benn. There is another rapper, not
the Incredible Hulk, but a rapper, uh, and he opened
for him and had a It was a small avenue,
would say there. There may have been about four people
here and a giant fight breaks out in the middle
of the floor and like Banner just kind of stops
(01:36:55):
laughs at office, I'm gonna let you all finish, So
why I can finish? Uh? And that was maybe about
seven eight years ago. Outside of that, for the most part,
the concerts I've been to have been fairly tamed, but
that that was the one that stood out. And it
was such a small venue. Everybody stopped and look and
everybody saw everything very vividly. So where were you in
proximity this fight? I wasn't closed, so I was on
(01:37:16):
the I was on the second level. That's it was.
It was a two level sort of theater, so I
heard what was happening. I don't know how it started,
but somebody somebody got pound there pretty badly. Okay, Nikki
b what do you have on your your concert list
over there? So a lot of the contents I've been
to I've seen nine inch Nail's Live with Sound Garden
(01:37:38):
and stuff like that, but the one concert really stood
out to me. There was one I'll tell you off
the airs. I can't say it on the air what happened, um,
but uh, I will say this. So, uh, my stepdad
took me to go see Alice Cooper and Cheap Trick
in New York and the guitarists were Cheap Trick. I
guess Toby Keith played a concert the previous night, and
(01:38:00):
the guy who was a guitarist for Cheap Trick took
a shot at Toby Keith during the concert, like right
like like open mic. He's like, so, I guess Toby
Keith was here last night, and uh, you know he's
saying his songs. He's like he's like he's basic like
questioning like the titles of his songs. He's like, oh, well,
we'll do you know, he's just naming naming him. He
was mocking, basically mocking the name of Toby keith songs
(01:38:22):
during the like like in between songs he would he
would mock a couple of them, and it was it
was pretty hilarious and whole crowd went wild. It was
impouring rain too was an outside venue, so it was that.
That's one of the most memorable. I'll tell the other
one off the air. I'm so curious this off the
air story. It's like there was a meth deal that
went down, Like, what's going on here? No, it's it's
it's I'll just say this. It's a very adult themed,
(01:38:43):
uh thing that happened, not with me, but with somebody.
I'll just say this. That was people that were sitting
a few rows behind my cousin and I at a
disturbed concert. Okay, I'm well, hey, I don't know, I'm
interested to hear that. I'll tell you two quick stories here,
real fast concert stories. One of my favorite ones. So
we're going I don't know where we're going, like a
Pantera show or so whoever it was. And so, uh,
(01:39:07):
me and one of my buddies, Jay, were about the
same age and he had this younger brother. So we're
young at this stage, and Jay's little brother is I
don't even know he's young. But anyway, we're going to
the show and uh, they're frisking everybody and out of
nowhere like uh, someone says, yeah, they're they're frisking us.
(01:39:32):
To see if they're anybody has paraphernalia or whatever, and
all of a sudden, you just here tink tink ting
ting ting. Jay's little brother got freaked out. He had
a little one hitter and like his boot or something
and he just flicked it like you're you're like skipping
rocks at a lake or something like that. I that
(01:39:54):
that's one of those. You just had to be there.
It was hilarious, though. The other one that is stupid
yet funny, so it was actually really cool. So this
is back in the Final Four. I was living in
Indianapolis at the time and Fox Sports Radio had me
cover the Final Four. And that was the year that
(01:40:15):
UM Kentucky lost to Wisconsin and that Kentucky was undefeated
and Duke went on and won the national championship. But
I was there. I was covering it, and uh so
for the Final four, I went to the games and
then I just met up with some friends for dinner afterward,
and then they were doing this free show. It was
Zach Brown, this free show after dinner, and I'm like,
(01:40:38):
we all went our separate way, so I'm like, screw it,
I'll go see Zach Brown. I'm eclectic I love heavy
metal the most, but I'll go see anybody practically for free.
And so I'm walking over there and someone stops me
at the entrance and he goes the parks closed, and
I'm like what He's like, parks closed, We're not letting
(01:40:59):
anybody in. And so, for whatever reason, it was my
goal in life to break into this Zach Brown band concert.
Like he's fine. I've never seen him in concert. It's
not like, oh, this is my guy. I gotta see him.
It was just because they told me I couldn't. And
so I'm all right, game on. So I go to
(01:41:20):
the very opposite end and try to get into that entrance.
Same thing. They're like, parks closed, we're not letting anybody in.
I'm like, okay, cool. And so they've got a tarp
around the entire perimeter of this concert venue, and uh
so I'm like, I gotta hop de fence, you know,
(01:41:42):
That's what I gotta hop defence get in on this thing.
And so I was strategic. I look around, there's no
security guards, there's nobody around the secluded area, and I'm
about to hop the fence and I look very closely.
It's the dead of night. I look very closely, and
on the other side there's some dude in like a
(01:42:02):
lawn chair, in a folding chair, just watching the fence.
And I stopped right away. I'm like, oh my gosh,
as soon as I hoped this fence, he's gonna scoop
me up, He's gonna grab me. You know, I was
gonna be busted. And so I'm like, all right, I
gotta rethink this thing here. So I go back to
the other entrance and I'm like, hey, so, what would
(01:42:25):
happen if you got caught breaking into this thing? You know,
just per se is for instance? What would happen? Total hypothetical?
And he's like, oh, yeah, we we probably throw you
in jail for a little bit. I'm like, oh gosh,
so um yeah, I abandoned that mission. I said, yeah,
it's probably not worth it. Because the funny thing is,
(01:42:46):
if I got hauled off to jail for trying to
break into the Zach Brown band concert, from that moment on,
I would be branded like an uber Zack Brown fan.
And I'm like, I mean he's cool. I mean, yeah, right, no, whatever,
you tried to break into the show. You love Zach Brown,
you can't get enough of that that band over there,
(01:43:07):
So luckily I didn't get uh thrown in jail. And uh,
I don't know how I saw that, dude, I swear
I did. I know I did, because I even backed
up and I looked again. I think I must have
thought I was crazy. I was like squinting. It's all right,
like you almost like it's a I don't know a
good example where it's it's almost like a window that's
(01:43:28):
blurry or something, and you just kind of like peek
in closer, like am I seeing what I'm seeing? That's
how I was looking at the guy through the fence.
He's just sitting there watching the fence in case some
idiot like me hopped it, so it almost went sideways there.
We avoided disaster, though. There you go, Okay, I gotta
get to the coaching carousel. Momentarily, I didn't realize we're
(01:43:50):
gonna it's me. I'm way too chatty when it comes
to story. I'm glad you didn't get arrested trying to
get into the Zach Brown band concert. Can you imagine two.
I didn't even think about this until you said that.
Christ whatever dumb story I had, Yeah, I was covering
the Final four four Fox Sports Radio. I really wish
(01:44:11):
you had gotten arrested just so we could have that all.
Imagine that in your brand about this. Yeah, that would
have taken it to the next level. That would been
the running joke around here of like, we can't have
no cover the Final four or whatever, the college football
playoff for whatever. He's gonna get arrested again like he
did the one year for Zach Brown Band. Can't send
you anywhere near college game day because they might have
(01:44:33):
Zach Brown Band. You know, before we know what, you'd
just be climbing all over Leak Horse, so just you
can see the Zach Brown Band. Yeah, unbelievable. All right,
we got k fig He's here to spin us around
the sporting landscape. What do we need to know here?
Kevin figures, Well, we need to know that unlike Brian know,
the Atlanta Hawks did not avoid disaster on Friday night.
(01:44:56):
They were worked over seriously by the COOPO and the
Milwaukee But uh, Mark is the Milwaukee Bucks. Excuse me?
Jonstince the cool scoring twenty five points to nine one
was the final score in favor of the Bucks, who
outscore at the Hawks forty three to seventeen. There was
a twenty two nothing run in the midst of that
as well. Game three will take place on Sunday. Game
(01:45:18):
four of the Western Conference Finals takes place tonight, and
the Clippers did announce that Kawhi Leonard will not be
in the line up. Marcus Morris will be a game
time decision. Cameron Payne is probable for the Phoenix Suns.
Clippers assistant coach Shauncey billups in contract talks to become
the next head coach of the Portland Trailblazers. In college baseball,
Saturday's College World Series game between n C State and
(01:45:39):
Advanderboth has been ruled they know contest. The Commodorees will
advance to the title round. This is on the heels
of NC State, playing shorthanded in Friday afternoons loss to
Vanderbilt three to one. They only had thirteen available players
and they will not be able to advance or have
the opportunity to advance with the game. Later today, Texas
defeated Mississippi State eight to five, setting up a winner
(01:46:00):
take all contests for them later this afternoon. In Major
League Baseball, Fernando tatzis Junior had three home runs for
the Padres. They molly wop Arizona eleven to five consecutive
role losses for Arizona. Dodgers beat the Cups six to two,
snapping a four game losing streak. Red Sox over the Yankees, Giants, Brewers,
and Mariners with victories, and in hockey, Game seven of
(01:46:22):
the Eastern Conference Finals goes to Tampa Bay, who advanced
to their second straight Stanley Cup Final with a one
nothing victory over the Islanders. Back to Brian no Man,
I still ka fig We've been talking about a decent amount.
I'm still fascinated by that NC State story, where, uh like,
to your point you said this, I think, going back
in the first hour, you can't just reschedule these games
(01:46:46):
and leave teams there in Omaha, right like. Business has
to move forward. But what what fascinates me is if
NC State had one on Friday and they advanced to
the College World Series. I have a hard time envisioning
the n C double A saying, oh, n C State
(01:47:07):
can't go, well, you're the champions either Texas or Mississippi State,
right Like, I have a hard time seeing them do that.
So it's like if they're going to reschedule potentially a
championship series, then you would think, well, man, you can't
reschedule a game that's in the round prior. But at
the same time, you can't wait for either forever either.
(01:47:29):
So it's a tough spot that they're in, there's no doubt. Yeah, yeah,
it's very difficult. And the goal post would move obviously
if they had one and they did advance to the
championship Brown, I think they'd be in a much more
difficult spot. Uh here, if you were the n C
Double A Baseball Committee, I think the easier decision was,
you know, with this happening to them and with Vanderbilt
getting the victory already, it probably just it was easier
(01:47:52):
on everybody to just advance the advanced them for one
round without having to wait ten fourteen days for all
the records of players to be cleared. But at an
interesting layer, an interesting question because again, if we're talking
to in the fourteen days of avid Protocol period for
many of these players, you can't push back the championship
Brown for two weeks? Can you? That's the difficult part.
(01:48:12):
But what's also interesting too is because we've had a
lot of conversations about this, where a lot of these
leagues just treat COVID like it's an injury. And I
get the logic in that, But the difference with NC
States like they can't compete. If you compare it to say,
Chris Paul and the Suns, like they're gonna move forward
(01:48:34):
business as usual. They're not going to say, hey, we've
gotta reschedule everything because Chris Paul contracted COVID. They're gonna
move forward. But imagine if the Sons were like NC
State and there were numerous positive cases and they didn't
have enough players to field the team. Do you think
the NBA is just like, well, that's one forfeit. Game
(01:48:54):
one goes to the Clippers. Oh, you don't have enough players.
Game two goes to the Clippers. Right. You have a
hard time in visioning them doing that. There's too much
money involved in the NBA playoffs and getting games and
TV contracts. They'd almost have to from a professional standpoint,
have to do that. I know there's there's contracts and
all of that involved in college sports as well, but
not as much with the NBA, Not with as much
(01:49:16):
that's on the line for them, they would be forced,
I think, to have to basically pause the series for
a week if need be to to make sure these
guys clear protocol. I would think so too. And look,
you could mention that there's a difference between you know,
the NBA and college baseball just pros amateurs, that whole thing.
I get that, But if they would and I can't
(01:49:37):
imagine that the NBA wouldn't pause things if say, the
Sons just didn't have enough players to field the team,
they wouldn't just say, will Clippers, congratulations, you're going to
the NBA Finals, right. That's what just happened with NC
State and Vanderbilt, where NC State has all these positive
COVID cases and they're just like n c double as, like,
(01:49:59):
hey can gratulations Vandy You're going to the Championship Series.
It's like, wait, what what's happening now? And how do
you feel if you're a Vandy player too? I mean,
I'm sure you're happy to make it to the World Series,
but there is there a small part of you that
feels like and really really earned this birth, you know
what I mean? I think and I hear you on
that for sure, But I think just the mentality of
an athlete, you'd be like, we would have won anyway, right,
(01:50:20):
we would have definitely won, So it's fine either way,
We're moving forward. I think that's just how you would
you would think about that, but that's how you justified
in your head's like, yeah, we're gonna we're gonna just
saved saved our arms, you know, don't worry about it.
We'll be okay, we would have been fine. Okay. Let
me throw this out there for everybody listening, and feel
free to check in eight seven, seven ninety nine on
(01:50:42):
Fox if you got anything to talk about. Feel free.
Concert stories very much? Uh uh, up for grabs there,
you know, love the crazy concert stories. I could share
nineteen others. Maybe I'll share one here coming up. But
let's stick to a sports for a second. So the
Dallas map I mentioned, what in the world is this
organization doing? That would be the Dallas Mavericks. So they
(01:51:06):
have hired Jason Kidd, who has a losing record as
an NBA head coach, and they have also hired a
former Nike executive to be their GM. That's right, Nico Harrison.
He is a former Nike executive. He's going to be
(01:51:26):
the GM and head basketball operations. Ah okay, I'll give
Nicky b some props on this. He said this off
the year where apparently Nick Nico Harrison he comes highly regarded. Where, oh,
this guy he's a Nike executive. Of course he's gonna
(01:51:48):
come highly regarded. But is he highly regarded in being
a GM right, like actually drafting players and evaluating players
properly and making true decisions with trades and all of that. Right,
there's a whole different ball game you've been in the
shoe game, right, like being well respected. It's a lot
(01:52:11):
like Jason Kidd. Actually, if you think about it, they
both hold this similarity. Jason Kidd comes incredibly highly regarded
as a former player. That makes all the sense in
the world. As a head coach, No, he is not
highly regarded, nor should he be. He's got a losing record.
(01:52:32):
He's one eight three and one ninety. And the thing
I remember most about him coaching previously was him on
purpose spilling a drink to buy some time and came
against the Lakers where he's telling one of his players, Hey,
hit me, bump into me so I can throw my
(01:52:53):
drink on the floor and we'll get some extra time. Here.
That's what I remember him most more. He got fined
fifty dollars for that. So I don't know what in
the world the Dallas Mavericks are thinking here. Dallas is
in my mind, the best vacancy this entire offseason. When
you have twenty two year old phenom Luca don Chitch
(01:53:16):
as your core player, you've got a lot to work
with right there. So that is the job in my mind.
Damian Lillard is sensational, but he's also thirty right like
Luca is almost a decade younger, nearly. That's the best job,
easily of any that were available in the NBA. And
(01:53:39):
they land Jason Kid, really a guy with a losing
record who, by the way, was convicted of spousal abuse.
He beat his wife also, So you've got off the court,
and then you also have a lack of success on
the court as a head coach as well, and he's
(01:54:00):
at the Dallas Mavericks job. Why would be my question?
And you could sit here and be like, wow, he
was a former point guard. If he meshes with Luca, yep, sure,
I get all of that, But his coaching record, he's
under five hundred. And I also think this too. I
think that sometimes a star player can right a ton
(01:54:24):
of wrongs. I think that a star player can make
a dysfunctional organization appear to be functional. This has happened
many times. It's happened in football. I would point to
Peyton Manning, also Andrew Luck. I think Andrew Luck might
even be a better example, because talent wise, that roster
was really suffering. When Andrew Luck was there doing his thing,
(01:54:48):
he carried him to the playoffs three straight years, and
their roster was not playoff caliber. Their offensive line was
a joke. Ryan Grigson couldn't evaluate talent. And you've got,
you know, the team owner who's on benders left and right,
and like, it's the epitome of dysfunction over there, and
(01:55:12):
yet somehow they're going to the playoffs left and right.
It's because a star player, and Andrew Luck was propping
that franchise up, and Jim Mercy could go do what
he wanted to do and get caught in a car
with bills and cash on him, and it's like, what
is happening right now? Yet they're still successful. I think
(01:55:33):
what the the Mavericks, what they're doing here? Hiring a
Nike executive to be the main decision maker is the
GM and then Sub five hundred head coach Jason Kidd
on his third team as a head guy. That is
not stability right there at all. Yet, Luca don Che
(01:55:56):
is such a great player that he and he could
be the difference in winning games, winning series, advancing in
the playoffs. And yet I believe it's still a disfunctional foundation.
But time will tell. Time will tell if that works
out for them or not. It does beg the question
(01:56:18):
how much did the dissension between Rick Carlyle and Luca
have to do with Rick Carlyle saying peace, see you,
good luck. I'm out of here after thirteen years with
the Mavericks. I've got two more years left in my deal.
But yeah, I'm gonna call it good right now. I'm
gonna say this is uh? Is it for your boy? Right?
Like all those rewards about Luca calling out Carlyle, and
(01:56:41):
it might have had a lot to do with him
leaving Dallas for the Pacers. There's some layers to that
right there. But on I think that Dallas could have
done a lot better than hiring a Nike executive as
the GM and Sub five hundred Jason Kidd as the
head coach. I I don't I'm not all in what
they're cooking over there. Hey, Discover matches all the cash

believe this guy? Is he telling the truth or is
this a little bit of a fib Here I bust
out the light detector test right around the corner. I'm
Brian no keep it locked right here on Fox Sports Radio.
I'm Brian No here on Fox Sports Radio. One tweet
(01:57:46):
that I got here at the No Show from fam
z Oo. I don't even know. I'm not sure how
to say it, but he writes in says went to
a between the Buried and Me show and a couple
of was having sacks on a couch in front of everyone.
We're talking about random concert stories. That'd be one of them.
(01:58:06):
I'd be one of them similar similar to uh, Nick's storyline.
It was of the adult variety and you know, um
along those lines. And just so everybody's clear, Nick was
he was not engaging in the act. He uh, he
(01:58:28):
was just witnessed to it. But something along those lines.
But I'll keep it classy and leave it at that.
But yeah, any of those concerts stories, yeah, yeah, there
are a lot of those stories in uh with sporting
events to each other. Yeah. Oh yeah, the nosebleed seats
(01:58:48):
at Yankee Stadium, oh gosh, all the time, right, yeah,
you get those stories quite a bit. Chicago Stadium old
like the old Bulls Arena. There are stories about that
wild stuff going on concerts and sporting events. Okay, let
me get to this here real fast. So Tom Brady,
(01:59:10):
he was on The Late Late Show with James Gordon,
and he was asked a question and and listen very carefully,
do you buy what Tom Brady is selling? Here? Check
this out. There's one thing being like really good at something.
There's something else, of being the greatest of all time?
(01:59:31):
How often do you think about that? I don't really know,
because they don't never you never sit and think what
I do, I'm the best It's like saying that you know,
what do you like better? Steak fish chicken? I mean, okay, first,
thanks first. That is it's one of the worst examples
ever to make your argument. No, I don't think about
(01:59:54):
myself being the greatest, Like, what do you prefer steak chicken? Fish?
What where are you going with this? Tom? Like, I
have no idea what he was saying, But I actually
do I believe Brady? The question is this, do you
believe Tom Brady when he says, no, I don't sit
around thinking that I'm the best. I don't think that
I'm the greatest. I don't spend time thinking along those lines.
(02:00:18):
Do you believe him? Are you one of these people
that says, really, dude, you love yourself and you don't
sit there for a second and think, Man, I am
the greatest over here? I believe him, actually, because here's
the deal. To keep achieving great things, you've got to
be looking forward. You cannot be looking back and reminiscing
and oh man, I remember back in and no, man,
(02:00:44):
Tom Brady has said that before. There's a great SoundBite
where someone asks him, Hey, which championship do you like
the most? And he says the next one. That's his mentality.
So I actually do buy it. By the way, is
it Cordon? Is it Cordon? Horton? Doesn't sound right? How
do you say that, James Cordon? It's not Cordon. Huh.
(02:01:07):
It's a pretty good job. Pretty good job. Got some talent.
He can carry a tune. Hey, random story here before
the top of the hour. So I'm gonna take you
to Pennsylvania authorities there They responded to reports that a
group of people was performing in exorcism in the lumber
aisle of a home depot. That's right, it's a real story.
(02:01:29):
You would think like we had the Kawhi Leonard fake
story about eating apples earlier in the show. Do you
think this is a fake story? Is a real story.
So the group they were trying to exercise demons from
dead trees. They were escorted out of the building. Officials
didn't say if they'll face charges for trying to exercise
(02:01:51):
demons from the wood or not. I do like this
reply though. On social media social media is undefeated Paul Nichols.
He wrote, made the rice of plywood come down. The
name of Christ compels you. So there you go. We
got exorcisms of lumber at the home depot in Dixon City.
(02:02:12):
Shout out Pennsylvania on the map over here, all right,
plenty more to get to coming up. I might be
the only person who thinks this. We'll put it to

s R to listen live. Ah. Yes, I hope you're
enjoying your Saturday morning festivities over here now. I uh.
I used to do this bit when I was doing
a weekday show in Portland. I called it No Island.
That's when I would say something and people would think
(02:02:56):
I'm kind of out there, you know, there's no one
around here, and so we made it the whole thing,
right the voice guy shout out, shout out to Pete
made some imaging over here. I'll give you a little
taste of it. It's another gorgeous day on No Island, right.
So it's just this thing like I'm just off on
an island by myself, and I really feel like that's
where I am right now. I'm not doing this for
(02:03:17):
dramatic effect. This is what I actually think. And if
I just happened to be on an island, so be it.
But I don't telegraph it. Hopefully you believe that. If not,
I don't know. There's nothing I can do for you.
But with Ben Simmons, so we initially had reports the
Sixers are like, oh no, no, no no, we're not looking
(02:03:38):
to trade him. And it's like, I'm gonna wait to
see if that actually happens or not. I've I'm not
gonna believe what Darryl Morey says. Right, he is a
he's a businessman. If somebody offers him something really good
for Ben Simmons, well Ben Simmons is going to be traded.
So this idea of all, we're not trading Ben Simmons,
(02:03:59):
you can't believe at And then there are more reports
of hey, these teams are interested, they're calling their gauging interest,
they're trying to put together a deal, YadA, YadA. So
here's the deal with Ben Simmons. Look, if the Sixers
get a great offer for the guy, yeah, fine, move
him again. It's contention on if they get a great
(02:04:20):
offer for him. But this idea of you've got to
get rid of Ben Simmons, it's over, it's done, it's fractured,
and blah blah. I don't see it that way. I don't.
I know. I know it's incredibly unpopular take right now
because most times we overreact to what we just saw.
(02:04:41):
We are guilty time and time again of being prisoners
of the moment. But if you look at Ben Simmons
as rotten as he was and their series loss against
the Hawks, and he was, he was dreadful. I'm not
gonna sugarcoat it. He was bad. He's not taking shots
in the fourth quarter. He was scared. He's freaked out.
(02:05:02):
He doesn't want to go to the free throw line.
I thought Scottie Pippett made a great point. Actually, and
we'll get to him calling out k D. But Scottie
Pippett made a great point. He compared Ben Simmons and
Janice and he said, Janice, even though he's had many
(02:05:22):
struggles at the free throw line, he's still really aggressive.
He isn't cowering away from the basketball, like, oh my gosh,
if I touched the basketball, They're gonna follow me and
then I'm gonna miss free throws. And that can't happen.
He still stays very aggressive, and Pippen said, that's not
what Ben Simmons does it all. Ben Simmons shies away.
(02:05:44):
He's like, oh my gosh, I don't want to touch
the ball past half court, you know, for fear of
being fouled. I thought that was a really good point. So, yeah,
Ben Simmons, things are messed up right now. I'm not
gonna sugarcoat and act like they aren't. But I'll give
you a couple of examples. One would be Paul George. Now,
(02:06:04):
Paul George has never struggled at shooting the ball even
close to how Ben Simmons has, So I'm not comparing that.
And listen, it's a comparison. These are gonna be identical players,
like they're gonna be differences, So I would I would
encourage you look at the similarities, don't just glare at
(02:06:27):
the differences. The only comparison I'm making between Ben Simmons
and Paul George. Paul George has had numerous playoff failures.
He was four for sixteen in a Game seven last
year when the Clippers lost to Denver. He was what
two for fourteen against Utah a couple of years ago,
(02:06:49):
when he was in Okay. See, he was terrible in
that game, scored five points in like forty five minutes,
did nothing. He's had his failures. He's been crushed publicly
over the years. Playoff P. That's hilarious. He's been crushed,
and yet look at Paul George. Now, I mean Paul George.
(02:07:12):
Going back to the Utah series when Kauai was out,
Paul George scored thirty seven points in the game five.
On the road, he scored thirty points three straight games like.
He was the biggest reason why the Clippers moved on
from that series. And the last game he played very
good the Clippers their first win against the Suns. Now,
(02:07:35):
he did miss those two free throws. But the whole
point is this. There have been many people that say,
playoff P, you can't trust him. This guy, he buckles,
he wets himself, all of those things, and yet Paul
George here and now is the most important player the
Clippers have by far with Kauai on the shelf. So
(02:07:56):
the point is, with Ben Simmons, I'd be very careful
about evaluating someone at their maximum low point. Same thing
with their high point as well, but especially with Simmons.
This is his low point, this is his valley. I
just don't see this being the constant. You haven't seen
(02:08:18):
it to this depth ever in his playoff career, in
his NBA career, So why would I evaluate him as
if this is him going forward? I don't see it
that way. And you talk about motivating, you talk about
knowing exactly what you have to work on, even more
(02:08:39):
so Ben Simmons. It's not like he didn't know he
needed to work on his shot before the playoffs this year,
but it has been emphasized one hundredfold. So Ben Simmons,
he very well could be living in the gym this
entire off season. And one other thing I find hilarious
(02:09:00):
about all these trade rumors. If Ben Simmons is this
supposedly bad, why would a team want them? Then it's
just funny to me all these people that are saying, oh,
Ben Simmons, he's destroyed, like you gotta get rid of him,
it's not gonna work in Philly, blah blah blah, the
Blazers should trade for him. It's like, wait a minute,
what how does that work? On one hand, Ben Simmons
(02:09:21):
is just wrecked, and then this other team they should
trade for that guy who's wrecked. That doesn't make any
sense to me. It's like a lot of times this
is what people fall into. The trap. They think what
they just saw will remain the constant. So Ben Simmons
was just a disaster against Atlanta and that, somehow in
(02:09:43):
their mind is going to remain the constant. I don't
believe that. So unless I got a good offer, a
really really good offer, almost like when I couldn't bypass. No,
I'm not trading Ben Simmons. The guy is twenty four,
he can guard every position. Yeah, his jump shot is
absolutely broken, and his confidence is in the toilet right now.
(02:10:07):
But things can change. And before you sit here rolling
your eyes like, oh my gosh, who is this naive
fill in host over here? Bring Jonas back? Bring Jonas back.
Right before you're thinking that, let me point to another guy.
Look at Marquel Folts. Now, he was moved to Orlando,
(02:10:27):
but before he tore his a c L. He went
from worse than Ben Simmons shot. And that's saying a lot.
Marquel Folds had the ugliest form I have ever seen
before I've seen a Lonzo ball shoot before he tweaked
his motion a little bit. Marquel Folts with the shoulder injury,
(02:10:49):
I can't even It's almost like someone doing the shot put.
How they're just trying to get the ball up to
the shooting position and then then shoot it. It was
give you nightmares back at and Marquel Folks, he improved greatly.
So like this idea that Ben Simmons this is just
who he is from here on out, I don't believe
(02:11:12):
that to be the case. And so no, I'm not
eager to just rush into any deal and let's get
Ben Simmons out of here. It's not working with them, beat,
It's never going to work. Like it's just get whatever
we can for the guy. I don't look at it
like that. And that's not just to be contrary. I
just hear everybody. It's like sheep just following the herd.
(02:11:33):
Where ah, Yeah, Ben Simmons. I just saw him be bad,
So therefore he's gonna continue to be bad and they
have to move him. I don't think they have to
move him. I think Ben Simmons is a lot like
Dwight Howard, which is funny because because their teammates right now.
But we looked at what Dwight Howard wasn't instead of
(02:11:54):
what he was, And what Dwight Howard never became was
a great offensive player, and he had all the potential
to do that, it was never realized, and we just
looked at it from that angle. We didn't look at
him being an outstanding defensive player. He's gonna be a
Hall of Famer, and we just dwell on what he
(02:12:15):
isn't instead of what he does bring to the table.
And now he's at, you know, the twilight of his career.
It was even more obnoxious going back years ago when
he was even more productive, and yet he was still
looked at it only what he didn't do well. And
I think it's very similar with Ben Simmons. I think
(02:12:36):
you can easily look at man. He cannot shoot free throws,
he cannot shoot an effective outside jumper, he's scared of
the moment. You can look at all those things and
those are absolutely glaring holes that have to be fixed,
have to be but I can't overlook what he does
(02:12:57):
bring to the table and the potential that he still has.
The dude is what twenty four twenty four and all
these people are just like, get rid of them, Get
rid of them. It's done, it's broken, will never work. Really,
I just don't see it like that, And you could
sit here shaking your head, calling me naive. I just
don't think I am. I really don't think so. I'm
(02:13:19):
Brian noo here on Fox Sports Radio. By the way,
a tweet here. I thought this is funny. So we're
talking about random concert stories. M C checks in here
mc loud and he says, weird baseball story, not concert pregame.
Jim tell Me is signing autographs for the fans. He
(02:13:40):
has to warm up nicely, runs out to first space.
A guy comes walking up and once an autograph and
he yells out in desperation. I've been to your sister's
house as if he would turn back. That's a good one.
I like that. I like that. We've we've kind of
(02:14:03):
like morphed into the next realm. We started off with
random concert stories. Now it's random sports stories. I like this.
It's good. Um. I don't know if Jim Tommy reacted
to that or whatever. Like some fans, they've got some
wild things to say. I know, breaking news here. I'll
tell you one real fast story where I thought it
was a great, great comeback. So my dad and I
(02:14:25):
are St. Louis Cardinals fans. My dad was born in Alton, Illinois,
which is just outside of St. Louis. So one year
we went to a Cardinals game happened to be in Chicago,
so we were there with the Bleacher bums in Wrigley
and uh as Cardinal fans, right. And so Darryl Kyle,
the late picture sadly passed away a few years after
(02:14:48):
this time that we were at the game. But Darryl Kyle,
this is before the game and guys are just warming
up there doing their thing. And so Darryl Kyle, he
was pretty close to the outfield, pretty lose, and you
can imagine they're just fans that I want to heckle
an opposing player. And I don't know what this Cub
fans Cub fan was saying, but you know it was
(02:15:10):
just your typical you suck man, like you're no good
but whatever, just mindless type stuff. And I'll never forget
Darryl Kyle. It was hilarious. He looks up in the stands,
looks at this guy and he goes, hey, man, you
are you play little League? And the fan it was great.
He was like yeah, and Darryll Kyle pause for a second.
(02:15:30):
He goes, you must have sucked, and the fan was just,
you didn't say anything. You don't know what to do.
He's like, wait, I heckle you. You don't, you don't
heckle me. I don't. I don't have any response to that.
I don't have a handbug, I don't know anything to say.
You're not supposed to give it back to me. It
was hilarious. It was just great. And I probably still
(02:15:52):
would have thought the same thing even if it was
a a Cubs players saying that to a Cardinals heckler, right,
if the roles were reversed, I still that was pretty funny.
Uh man, those those players. Dude. I know, no one
wants to throw a pity party for the poor, unfortunate
millionaires who are living lavish lives and all of that.
(02:16:16):
I know, no one wants to have a pity party,
But dude, some of the heckling, some of the mistreatment,
it is. It's crazy what has said at some of
these games. Man, it should never go on like that,
really shouldn't. All right, You comments more than welcome at
the No Show is where you can find me on
Twitter random concert stories. We're fishing for those random sports stories.

By the way, I don't know what it is about
this song, Like, what's the name of this band here?
Chris if forget Yeah, Offspring, gotta keep them separated. Yeah,
(02:17:41):
they've got a couple of songs, aren't bad? This one's
this all right? But I like, I like self esteem.
I like this one. I like the kids are all right? Yeah, uh,
there're a couple. I can't name them off the top
of my head and bad with offspring names, but they're
a couple of are okay. But it just made me
think of I. I probably have to lose a bet
to go see the offspring. I'll be honest with you.
(02:18:03):
You know, have you ever lost a bet to go
see a concert? Has that ever happened to you? It
happened to me. I don't lose bets, really, that's how
you get down. Huh. Just that's unless I know I
can win them. I'm gonna keep that in mind. I'm
going to make a bet with you that you were
going to come out on the losing end. I had
(02:18:25):
to go see Dave Matthews band over in New York.
I lost a bet. There's something NFL related. I don't remember.
But why are you making that sound like that's painful
though I was freaking atrocious? Just are you a Dave guy? Chris? No, No,
but I can't. I can't imagine. It's that's too unpleasant,
you gosh, And I'm sure even you could get into
(02:18:47):
some yacht rock or something. I couldn't do it. I
couldn't do it. Those guys are great musicians, really they are.
I respect them as musicians. I just I can't stand
their music. Man, I can't do it. I was explaining this.
I was on a podcast as a couple of days
ago and Dave it's not quite a hippie vibe, but
it's happy and it's a little on the hippie side. Now, Chris,
(02:19:12):
do a psycho analysis of me, if you will, right like,
give me a little psychoatric. Yeah, I'm gonna be on
the couch here because I don't understand myself. So if
it's like a happier vibe in terms of music, I
might not dislike it immediately. Say Farrell, for instance, he's
got that song Happy. I love that song. It's great,
(02:19:36):
got a nice rhythm to it, a little beat to it.
I like it a good song. But there's something about
kind of like a hippie vibe that's happy. I see red.
I don't know what. If it's like The Grateful Dead
or Fish or some kind of jam band or sort
of like Dave, it's like, I just want to I
(02:19:58):
want to punch someone who's total the innocent in the face.
You know what I mean? Do you ever feel like that?
Or am I just the maniac? No, I'm probably of
that same vibe multiple times. But I am also someone
who I just with my face looks very just dour
and angry at everything. But I am combining this with
your earlier tale about how you wanted to break into
(02:20:20):
the Zach Brown band concert just because you were told
you can't go to the Zach Brown band concert. It's
the simple thing you seem to have a problem with. Well,
since I said freud, I'm going to go straight from
authority figure to let's just say father figure. You seem
to have some weird issues with male authority telling you
what to do, and in this case, the male authority
(02:20:43):
is a societal design demand that you should be happy
and listen to happy music. And when you hear that
happy music, your defiance trickles up and all of a sudden,
it's like, no, no, I want to be negative. I
want to be negative. Now. That is in my name.
It's part of my name, is part of my brand
is saying no negative No yeah, I uh okay. I
(02:21:08):
would say this one one thing that you hit on
um like with authority. Here's my thing. I won't go
on this whole rant, but my thing is this, I'll
respect authority. I'm not going to just rage against authority,
but I hate when people take advantage of their authority,
right like when they have this you have to listen
(02:21:29):
to me sort of vibe. It's like, I don't care
for that, you know what I mean. So I won't
just automatically because you have this position, try to go
around you. But if you're just kind of like high
and mighty, like huffy puffy type thing, then yeah, I'm
not gonna respect that. Or if you're trying to keep
someone out from a Zach Brown band concert, yeah, kind
(02:21:51):
of like you're just like kid rock hanging outside you
know where? Where where did you take that picture? It
was like, hey, authority and he's giving the middle finger.
It was like outside, I'd like a bathroom or something.
I don't know. Just yeah, you're you're that, You're that,
I'm that guy. Huh that's how I roll. Okay, before
I get to k fig, let me throw this out
at you. So Scottie Pippen, he recently did an interview
(02:22:14):
with g Q, and he's talking about Kevin Durant. Do
you buy what he's selling here? So, pipp in one
of the comments he makes, he says about k D,
he needs to learn how to utilize his teams. He
has to learn how to set up his teammates to
be better. That's it. As great as he is, there's
(02:22:34):
a cap to his talent. He could have easily made
that three killed them in regulation. Is obviously talking about
the Bucks series right game seven. He could have easily
made that three killed them in regulation and we wouldn't
have been talking about this. But I knew going into
overtime he wasn't gonna make it. He was taking all
(02:22:56):
the shots. You don't play the whole game, bro, and
they've got guys physically wearing you down, You're gonna lose.
And then k D went on to make a comparison.
I'm sorry, Pippen went on to make a comparison between
k D and Lebron, and he said Lebron just wouldn't
do that. He would get his teammates involved, he wouldn't
(02:23:18):
wear down, he wouldn't be exhausted, and he wouldn't have
missed the last shot the way k D did. Fair agree,
Pippen have a point there. I see the logic in it.
I also think this too. But the funny thing is
Lebron has been ripped over the years for not taking
(02:23:39):
the big shot or bypassing it. Sometimes he's taking it,
but there are other times, like passing to Kyle Korver
instead of taking the shot. Lebron has been ripped for that.
I would love to know if Scotty was one of
those people ripping Lebron for not taking the shot in
passing to Kyle Korver. Right, So, it's just one of
(02:24:02):
these things. We're basically in this world of if it
doesn't work, then I'm just gonna fill in the gaps
as to why. You know. If it works, then we're good.
If it doesn't work, it's like, oh, well Lebron didn't
want the shot, and then if k D is taking
all the shots as well, KD he doesn't want to
(02:24:23):
involve his teammates and he's trying to do too much
over here. It's really just if it doesn't work, we're
mad and we're gonna make up our own reality to
try to fill in the gaps, you know what I mean.
So I look at Yeah, Pippen does have a bit
of a point. I think that k D sure at
times if he's absolutely gassed, yeah, he's gotta look to
(02:24:44):
get his teammates involved. It's just funny because it immediately
turns into a war of words and k D claps
back and he's like, oh, aren't you the guy that
was sulking on the bench when Phil Jackson drew up
a play for Tony coo coach And we're just often
running but we're getting away from Yeah, Scotty does have
(02:25:06):
a bit of a point. I think that, Look, sometimes
we can go into movie trailer mode and we're just
starting to speak in a world of and we we
just sort of get ridiculous with this stuff. But Pip
does have a point. K D didn't make one shot
in overtime of Game seven. He was gast, he was tired.
(02:25:27):
He airballed the final shot. So is there something to
be said for Hey, if you're gas like that, do
like Lebron, get some others involved here, create for others.
He's got a leg point, But then it turns into
who's making the point and what can we focus in
on and what didn't he do perfectly? And I think
(02:25:50):
it's just silly how we look at things like that,
right where sometimes some great analysts. People used to say
this all the time with Trent Dilfer. I thought Trent
Dilford was a really good NFL analyst, and if he
critiqued a quarterback, it turned into what did Trent Dilford
do as a quarterback? As if he's not making a
legitimate point as an analyst, you know. So it's the
(02:26:13):
same concept with Scottie Pippen. No, he didn't walk on
basketball water. No, it's not like he never made any
mistake in his career. Of course he made many of them.
But I think he's got a point with k D
and if he's gassed in over time, yeah, I probably
should get some others involved instead of taking six shots
(02:26:34):
and missing all of them. He's got a legit point. Now,
speaking of legit points, it's a great segue as I
hand the baton over here to Mr Kevin figures to
spin us around the sporting landscape. What's going on? Kig? Thanks,
Brian will stay in the NBA and go to the
Eastern Conference Finals. From Friday night, as Milwaukee molly wopped
(02:26:55):
Atlanta to the Coopo scored a game high twenty five
points They had a twenty to nothing run in the
third quarter on the way to outscoring Atlanta forty three
to seventeen. Hawks made just nine of their thirty six
three point attempts in the game. Going to the Western
Conference Finals, Game four will be tonight at Staples Center
in Los Angeles, and the Clippers will be without star
(02:27:16):
Kawahi Leonard, who was still nursing that knee injury. Marcus
Morris also with a knee ailment. He is a game
time decision. Cameron Payne injured his ankle early in Game three.
He is listed as probable for tonight's game. And Major
League Baseball, the Padres won their eight in a row.
Fernando Tatis Junior hit three home runs. They hammered Arizona
eleven to five. That's twenty four consecutive role losses for Arizona.
(02:27:39):
Johnny Quato had seven shut out innings for the Giants.
They got a to nothing victory over Oakland Dodgers with
three home runs in a six to two victory over
the cub snapping a four game losing streak. Red Sox
with the victory over the Yankees, raised and Braves with
victories the Tampa Bay Lightning with a one nothing victory
over the Islanders in Game seven of the Eastern Conference Finals.
They advanced to their set con straight Stanley Cup Final
(02:28:01):
and College baseball Vanderbilt will advance to the finals of
the College World Series. After the n c Double a
declaire at that today's scheduled contest between the Commodorees and
NC State will be a no contest because of a
COVID outbreak within the n C State program. Vanny will
take on the winner of today's Texas Mississippi State game.
Longhorn State alive with an eight to five victory on
Friday night. R Briano. By the way, k Fig, there
(02:28:25):
was this article I saw from UH Richard Ditsch with
The Athletic and he was talking to TV executives who
would be the next great NFL star in the booth
or the studio, and uh Fred Gidelli said Mike Tomlin,
which I was, uh, I I don't agree with that,
(02:28:45):
but anyway, that whole discussion. Joel emailed me and he said,
I might be biased, but what do you think about
Kirk Cousins. I would say hard pass on that. Do
you think Kirk Cousins would be good in the booth
or the studio, not really, to be honest, he doesn't
struck me as someone who will really say all that much,
which is probably why Frega Delly tabbed Mike Tomlin because
he is very opinionated and speaks his mind pretty well
(02:29:07):
and doesn't, you know, holding the pull any punches. So
I would understand why you would think Tomlin would be
a good analyst. He'd be he'd be a good sports
radio host Tyson. Absolutely, he'd be great that, yeah, definitely,
and maybe an analyst. I don't know, maybe maybe he
would surprise me. I just don't think he would crack
any jokes. You know. That's what makes inside the NBA
(02:29:28):
so good is you get the analysis and then you
get them cracking jokes. I don't I don't first see
any jokes with Tomlin. He doesn't strike me as the
lighthearted type. But I mean from a football analysis standpoint,
I think he'd do a good job. I mean, look,
you could say urban Meyer wasn't necessarily the most bubbly
and this for us as for for the Foxes college
football you know, pregame show. But he was good at
(02:29:49):
his job. He was good at what he did, so
you can have a more serious demeanor and still be
a good analyst. I believe so. Yeah. And by the way,
Tom was not even fifty yet, so I don't think
his days of coaching or Indian. Yeah, that's true. That's
a good point. Yeah, he is one of the more
underappreciated coaches in the NFL by far. Has he ever
(02:30:10):
had a losing record? I don't think he's ever had
a losing record. I don't think they've been worse than
eight and eight in his entire tenure there. Yeah, that's
if they've even been eight and Nate, they might have
been nine and seven or better. That's pretty special right there.
And yet it's I hear a lot of negativity about
tomler Way more than is like realistic. Definitely, he's one
of those guys. He loses his job today, he'll have
(02:30:31):
a new job, that's right, no doubt. Okay, I want
to bring in Nick Battalia. Don't say the G in Battalia, right,
I learned the hard way. But you have some fun
facts about Satan's kingdom. Now, someone might be like, wait,
what what are we doing over here? So this goes
back to last week. I was filling in for Jonas,
(02:30:51):
and we were talking about cities that sound hard, right,
they sound rough because at the time Paul George had
shouted out Palm Dale is like Palm Dale, and I
was like, that's just by the name, the name alone,
nothing else, as if you know nothing about the town whatsoever.
Even if you know everything about the town, the sound
(02:31:13):
of Palm Dale doesn't sound rough. And all of a
sudden you looked up Satan's Kingdom in Massachusetts. There, Nick,
I want to know the entire backstory as to how
this name came about. Okay, so some backstory on the
location of Saints as you said it in Massachusetts. It's
in the unincorporated community of Northfield, Massachusetts. And according to
(02:31:35):
community lore, the area got its name and read it
from the Boston Globe God's Name because of a forest
fire in the days of fire and brimstone sermons. Satan's
Kingdom his official name of the western town of three
how western half of you say, of the town of
three thousand, which is separated by the Connecticut River. So
how did it get its name? Well, apparently Herbert cy
Parsons was gave a sermon you have a fiery sermon,
(02:31:58):
and he wrote in his nineteenth thirty seven book, Uh
that when he walked out he saw that the there
was a forest fire across the way, across the Connecti River,
and said that the fires of Hell were depicted and
that King Satan's kingdom was burning. So basically, he walked
out of church one day, saw there was a forest
fire across the river and said, Satan's kingdom is burning.
(02:32:21):
And that's how it's got insufficial unofficial name. M hmm.
There's a lot going on right there with that explanation there, Nick,
It's very detail. It was I felt like I was
listening to Chris talk about his pistons for a second.
You know, a lot of layers to that one form
the public out there. We're in the No now by
(02:32:41):
the way, I gotta get to this tweet over here.
Tony checked in at the No Show and he just
wrote in Ben Simmons to Portland for c J McCullum.
It's gonna happen. Philly gets the better end of this
deal when it happens this offseason. I've been hearing this
a lot. This is the trendy rumor, and I'll just
(02:33:02):
say this, the Sixers would be freaking drunk, drunk to
trade Ben Simmons, who's twenty four years old for c
J McCollum. And look, c J mccllum is a good player.
I'm not saying he isn't. C J McCollums is a
three year old guy. Like it's the classic overreaction to
(02:33:25):
what you just saw. Ben Simmons was a disaster in
the playoff series. I get that, but you know what
he's also he's twenty four and he's he can guard
every single position. And you know what he could improve.
I'll tell you this, and this might you might look
at me like are you are you serious? Right now?
(02:33:46):
I'm dead serious. Ben Simmons has a better chance of
improving his jump shot than c J McCollum has of
improving on the defensive end. Like c J McCollum is
deficient on the defensive end, Ben Simmons is deficient as
a shooter at right now, Ben Simmons is worse at
shooting than CG is at defense. But Ben Simmons is
(02:34:09):
more capable of becoming better as a shooter than c
G is as a defender. Yet, just because we saw
this what a week ago, Ben Simmons just Wilting, it's
all gosh, trade him straight up. Like my impression if
Neil Olshake called up Darryl Morey and said, hey, Darryl, buddy,
(02:34:30):
I I've got a trade proposal for you, and Morey's like, okay,
what do you got. I'm thinking um c J McCollum
for Ben Simmons. Darryl Morey would be like, and what else?
If all Sha was like that's all, that's that's all
I was thinking, Like just straight up Darryl Morey, his
(02:34:54):
reaction would be, that's a good old man. By click,
that's it. There's no way, no way would you trade
a dude who's twenty four years old, Like no, no,
(02:35:14):
I know he has a struggle shooting the ball, but no,
you need more than just c J. Straight up. You
would need first round picks. You would need more compensation.
I know it seems like the price tag is plummeted
for Ben Simmons and what you could get on the
open market, you can get more than just c J McCollum.
I think Darryl Morey would be out of his mind
(02:35:35):
if he let go of Ben Simmons for a price
tag that cheap. And I know I'm making c J
sound like he's some scrub. He isn't. He's just way older,
way older. Last thing, Sorry, I'm going on a whole
rant on this one. Don't fall into the trap of
just thinking what Ben Simmons did in that series is
(02:35:57):
what he only has done or ownly will do. That's
that's just so wrong of how to evaluate that guy.
If you look over the course of his career, this
is what Ben Simmons has averaged every year, every all
of us four years, at least fourteen points. He dipped
(02:36:18):
a little bit this year, at least fourteen points, at
least seven rebounds, and at least six point nine assists.
Those are his lows, his lows, and that's what he
did this year. Those were career lows fourteen points, seven rebounds,
seven assists, fourteen seven and seven as a twenty four
(02:36:40):
year old guy. Like, no, I'm not dealing him straight
up for c J McCullum, that's crazy to me. He
turns twenty five and a couple of days, well, a
couple of weeks, he's nearing there, but he's still a
young guy. No, alright, coming up next, we close it
down in style. This is uh it's a great honor.
(02:37:02):
I'll mention that have some audio for you. And also
I have a crush. Yeah, I'll reveal who my crush is.
And um, there was an appearance made during the Hawks
Bucks game the source of my crush. I'll let you know.

you've seen Green Day in concert, I am gone, Okay, good, Nick,
I'm bracing for impact. Have you gone to see them?
I've not seen Green Day. I've seen Dave Matthews and
concert and loved it. Oh my gosh, what why why
(02:38:10):
do you want to do me like that? At the
end of the show here, you want to put me
in a bad mood when the show is about to end,
just think of the good times we've had. That's true.
By the way, shout out to my guy here, gumb Dave.
He said, I have to agree with you on d MB. Yeah.
I was like, I was terrible. It's awful. I lost
(02:38:32):
the bed. I had to go see him in concert.
I'll never be the same conna Be. Dave agrees, So
I've got that going for me. You Nick Battalia let
me down going to d MB and enjoying it. That's outrageous.
It's crazy over there. By the way, this is a
great honor, so Marv Albert, he's hanging him up, great
broadcaster when the Eastern Conference Finals end. That's it from
(02:38:56):
Marv as an NBA broadcaster. So this is cool. On
TNT before Game two is what Reggie Miller had to
say presenting Marv Albert with just listening to audio check
it out. You have met so much to the game
of basketball and for basketball fans all around. We want
(02:39:16):
to gift you this for you, no serious Hilary Obrian trophy.
This is for you, Marv. Thank you for blessing us
with your gift, your gift you I don't know what
to say. Is this really the larial price? There you go.
(02:39:42):
It's cool they gave him that. I don't know how
they arrived at this is what we're gonna give them,
but it was a cool gesture and I like the exchange.
Marv has just been a legend. I love Marv. There's
some people it's weird with commentators, Like every now and
then I'll hear someone like Marv m I'm like, what,
(02:40:05):
Marv is a legend? Man. I don't know. Maybe we
grew up at different times, but man, when I'm growing
up in the in the nineties with Marv and NBA
Playoff basketball and oh my gosh, there are just so
many great moments and great calls, crazy games, and I
(02:40:26):
don't know, I just I sort of grew up on Marv.
So yeah, I thought he did an excellent job. He'll
be missed for sure, but that was a cool honor
that they they gave to him. By the way, I
haven't talked to any baseball tonight. Well, actually we have.
With the NC State situation because of COVID, their series
has been ruled to no contest, so Vanderboot moving ahead,
(02:40:48):
So I false advertising. My bad. We've talked a little
bit of baseball, but real quick shout out, Phillies. Picture
Aaron Nola. You see this on Friday, ten consecutive strikeouts
against the Mets, ten in a row, ten up, ten down,
tied an MLB record said by Tom Seaver back in
nineteen seventy. You know what's funny hearing these pictures, like,
(02:41:10):
how are we gonna grip the ball? Now? We can't
use sticky stuff. This is gonna destroy everything. And yet
we've seen a couple of pitching feats. The last couple
of nights. You had Aaron Nola with ten consecutive strikeouts,
and then the Cubs they combined for a no hitter
against the Dodgers. Against the Dodgers, not like no hitting
(02:41:32):
the Mariners or something like that, the Dodgers one of
the most lethal lineups we have in baseball. Zach Davies
and three Cubs relievers combined for a no hitter. And
it's just funny to me back to back days where
you get those stud pitching performances, and I go back
to all these pictures are like, how are we gonna
be able to do our jobs now without sticky stuff.
(02:41:55):
It's like it was illegal the whole time, I just
never enforced. So I know it's unpopular also, but even
though it's happening mid season, I get it. I think
it's the lesser of two evils. You can either have
spin rates going crazy and baseball is not being hit
and play, or you can change on the fly and
(02:42:15):
there's some negativity. Some pictures are outspoken, big deal, big deal,
and you get a little bit more offense, you get
a little bit more excitement, some more action. I think
it's the right move with banning the sticky stuff mid season.
I know, unpopular. Okay, So I have a crush. I
have a crush. It is pop Sensation, Dua Lipa. That's it.
(02:42:39):
That's my crush. She's featured in a commercial for Truly
and this airs. It aired a couple of times during
the Hawks Bucks game. Yeah. So big fan of Dua Lipa. Absolutely.
I think she's fantastic. I've gone as far as to
h hear some of the things that she has said
in random video was like the meaning of her name.
(02:43:01):
Here you go having a full Albanian name like do a.
People pronouncing it. It means love and Albanian. Yeah, yeah,
did you know that? Did you know doah means love
and Albanian? You didn't before I filled in for Jonas Knocks,
You know it now. I think this was a successful
venture just based on that alone, and then the other
(02:43:24):
stuff is extra credit. Hey you guys, have a good morning.
