Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio. Do not do not,
do not, do not touch that dial. You heard the man.
It's time for Fox Sports Sunday. We've got a lot
on the Doctor tonight, so let's get busy. On that note,
please put your setbacks forward, your trade tables upright. We
are ready for takeoff. My name is Bernie Fratto. I'm
(00:22):
coming to your live from Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio Studios.
We'll take up to three m Pacific, six am Eastern,
along with my savvy and capable crew, Brandon Trufa, Chris
Perfect and of course Monster Bolanos on the updates and
think well man the ship for mar Los Angeles compound
as usual a ton on the agenda. I talked about
(00:45):
the l I V earlier. Well, the PG fires back
and why do you suppose they did? That? Will explain
the Shawn Watson settles sort of and he's got a
meeting Tuesday. The picture is starting to get a little clear,
by the way or the nets and Kyrie Irving officially
getting a divorce under the Oakland A's moving to Las Vegas.
We're going to touch upon all of those things that
(01:07):
and of course what kind of brand new fool Are You?
And What My Name? In the Final Hour, as well
as Chris Perfen's report on the world of soccer. But first,
a final note on the polarizing Golden State Warriors and
why I think, yes, wait for it, why I think
Golden State could actually repeat next season. I'm gonna give
(01:27):
you several reasons. Look, don't look now. They might have
disappeared for a while. They were in the last place
in the bubble, but the Golden State Warriors aren't going anywhere.
In fact, they will probably be even more dangerous next season.
You heard me right, If anything, after powering through the
Western Conference and knocking off the Celtics in six games
(01:50):
and partying and running their mouth and hanging out on
the parquet floor, this to me shows And I'm gonna
tell you why in a minute, why I believe the
Warriors have a second whim to their dynasty. And they've
won four championships with this group. I don't think they're done.
If anything, the relative unexpected nature of this year's championship,
(02:14):
and it was kind of a sprint, it really frankly
lit the fire for Curry and Draymond and Clay. They
have a desire for more rings and this they sense
that more are possible. If anything, the Warriors next year
on paper are actually better set up to win next
season than they were this season or even in the
middle of the season. And uh, you know, I know Draymond.
(02:40):
You know, if you can get over the shyness, he's
gonna be alright. He's telling everybody, welcome back to the
Warrior's Invitational. Look man, Reggie Jackson said it best and
bragging if you can do it, so you know, you
could have injuries that can happen. We saw what happened
in when Draymond got suspended in twenty nine. Seen and
(03:00):
you know Kawuahi Leonard, Uh, you had something to say
about that and the law seams. But this is a
team with had I don't think anybody has talked about
this much. Golden State is a team that has three
recent lottery picks James Wiseman, Jonathan Cominga, and Moses Moody.
None of those guys played a significant minute in the finals,
(03:23):
and yet they're potentially huge pieces of the Warriors future.
And the Warriors now have proven they can win with
an almost entirely homegrown roster just the same way they
did back in they added a superstar and Kevin Durant
and won two more eighteen. And they can take on
(03:44):
a disfavored player like Andrew Wiggins and turn him into
one of the league's best postseason players and find themselves
wing another title, which doesn't even mention the fact everything
that Curry and Draymond and Clay provived provided and improved
about themselves. And I will just tell you that this
team is not on the downside. I really believe to
(04:06):
a man, they feel that as good as they were
this year, next year they're gonna be even better. As
a matter of fact, Andrew Wiggins has already come out
and said that they were conducting their season ending exit
interviews over the weekend. It's my understanding. You gotta blend.
You got the older guys, you've got the younger guys.
You know, they look for the younger guys to take
a jump. Moses Wiseman is gonna be back. Uh. And
(04:30):
so when you sum it up that way, and when
you see the talent that police people believed Andrew Wiggins had,
it just needed to come out. He's relaxed, he's confident,
a very positive sign. And what's interesting is he was
under some pretty hot spotlight, and he stayed loose and
played better and he felt great. And when when, I
(04:51):
will tell you when Wiggins was on his game, the
Warriors look frankly like they could be unbeatable. And Wiggins
is only twenty seven. And there's a larger reason the
Warriors are undefeated in the Western Conference playoff series since
Cur's arrival in When they get to the conference finals,
(05:12):
they don't lose. They seem to get stronger and deeper
when they get into a series, whether opponents seemed to
get weaker. You saw that with the Celtics. Clearly, there's
a reason they climbed up after putting the worse record
two reasons ago. There's a reason they won a championship
even though they were, you know, not looking throughout this
(05:32):
season anywhere dominant. Right, they just keep fighting harder until
the wheels come off. They're stubborn, and as Graymond puts it,
they'll fight even harder. And I'm gonna give you some
more reasons why I believe I just get't started on this.
I'm gonna give you some more reasons why I believe
the Warriors will be a superior team than they were
(05:55):
this year, at least in the regular season for sure.
And I'm barring something crazy, stupid, weird, you, I would
believe they are a lot to get to the playoffs.
All right, here's the reason. Number one, Steph Curry still
has a chip on his shoulder. Remember the last time
Steph Curry finished the season with this kind of energy
(06:16):
and he was the best player on the floor in
every game and seemed to feed off the doubts and predictions.
It would have been the end of last season when
Curry personally lifted the Warriors out of the basically they
become a mediocre team. He led them to a fifteen
and five finish in the regular season. He re established
himself as a reinvigorated type of a player who was
(06:36):
able to reach back down and and it wasn't that
he needed to go to some place, and it was
getting back to where he'd been before. He's a force
of nature. He's an m v P type player now.
I think Steph Curry and Steve Curve had a lot
of meetings about this and they frequently said this period
as the moment things really sort of turned the Warriors
(06:58):
way and they'd be came the team that it looked
like it was their championship to lose, because once the
team watched what Curry was doing that he sort of
made them believe it. Now, I'm talking about last year, Okay,
the end of the season which paved the way for
this season. Over the last two months, Curier averaged almost
(07:20):
thirty eight points a game, shot fifty from the floor
and from behind the art. That's unheard of. This year,
Curry average twenty seven points a game on UH and
UH from the floor and from behind the arc in
the twenty two postseason games, collected MVP awards for both
the Western Conference Finals and the NBA Finals. In the
(07:43):
finals against the Celtics, Curry averaged thirty two points forty
eight percent from the floor from deep. That's sick, and
I don't think anybody can deny Steph Curry played the
best defense of his career throughout the playoffs. Not only
has Curry still got it? What do you like him
or hate him? And then not only there are zero
(08:04):
signs and Curry is about to drop out the elite
level of NBA superstardom. Curry has a chip on his shoulder.
Make no mistake, he still very much has a chip
on his shoulder. Reason number two. The Warriors have what
I call our three musketeers who conceivably break out pretty big.
(08:28):
These are lottery pick players who haven't even really established themselves,
not not in the playoffs. They had some flashes in
the regular season Commingga did, but I'm talking about Wiseman,
Comming and Moody. All right, here's why this is important.
When the regular season, you know, progresses three, you'll find
(08:49):
that the veterans will play, you know, they'll take nights off,
and Cura is gonna have to find out what the
young guys can do. And frankly, they should be ready
for it. Uh, they've talked about it. Why is and
as told the team, he's on track. Barring any further
complications from his knee. He's gonna be in the Summer
League this year for the first time in his career.
I've covered the Summer League every year since two thousand eleven.
(09:13):
I'll be back out there. I'm gonna try to talk
to him. I think this guy sees what the Warriors did.
He wants some of that. Last season, Kura used the
preseason and in most of the minutes in the regular
season to sort of shape the veterans into this cohesive rotation,
and what that did is that built the team's confidence
because they were coming off at two down years. I
think a lot of people really did count the Warriors out.
(09:35):
I never count on him out. I didn't predict they
would win it this year. I didn't see it is coming.
But they proved me wrong. Obviously, the confidence builder psychological
treatment isn't necessary anymore. Next season, Kura doesn't even have
to worry much about any playoffs sitting I think the Warriors,
I I you know, I don't think they're the least
bit worried about losing home court advantage in the three playoffs,
(09:59):
and and I don't. If they get it, great, that
s again the cake. If they don't get it, that's
okay too. Meanwhile, Jonathan Commingga did get some important, a
little bit sketchy playing time in the Memphis series. Moodey
was a type of guy who's always on called. But
the bottom line is all three of these Musketeers, all
three of these young youngsters watched Jordan's pool established himself
(10:21):
as a prime time player in his third season, and
they got a field for the highest level of basketball
on the planet. None of them should start next season
his wide eyed rookies anymore. They've they had the best
seat in the house and they got to work with
these guys every day. Uh. You remember Jonathan Pool, They
had to put him in the G League for a while,
but they developed him all right. So for the younger guys,
(10:42):
when you watch the older guys do what they did,
it's it's incredible. Jonathan Comingga is only nineteen years old.
I think he doesn't turn him twenty for another two months,
and so all of a sudden, nineteen, He's got this
world of experience and nothing like being part of a
championship DNA team to be that young. You get all
that experience under your belt. You feel with that championship
(11:03):
energy feels like at home on the road. You start
to learn the small things that lead to a championship.
You start to understand what your role could be, whether
it's a smaller role or potentially develops into a huge role.
The key is he'll have a pivotal role. And that's
one of the great things about the Warriors. They've got
superstar quality players, but the role is always greater than
(11:25):
some of its parts. They want to get back They've
got the experience to get back, They've got the roster
to get back. Coming up, I'm gonna give you three
or four more reasons on why I believe the Warriors
have a very good chance of repeating next year. You
(11:45):
may not want to hear that, but facts is facts,
and I'm telling you when you start to hear this rationale,
it's gonna cause you to pay attention. The Warriors are
for real. I'm Bernie Fratto. We're coming to you live

Fox Sports Radio Studios will take you up to three
am Pacific and six am Eastern. Continuing on with the
Golden State Warriors and the admission that you may not
want to hear that they're likely to be back in
the finals next year and have an outstanding chance of repeating.
(13:10):
I mentioned Jordan Pool a minute ago. Remember the first
couple of reasons I gave right. You have a situation
where Steph Curry, he's got a chip on his shoulder,
he's not done yet, and you've got three youngsters that
are lottery picks that haven't even had a chance to
contribute yet. Jordan Pool stepped up huge. He just turned
(13:32):
twenty three on Sunday's about to head into his fourth
NBA season. He played six minutes plus very significant minutes
in the Warriors title run. He never disappeared. He wasn't
perfect all the times when he delivered some of the
biggest shots in the finals, and it's possible he may
have a really important role next year, and that's to
take pressure off a Curry and carry the offense from
(13:53):
Curries out and give Curry a little bit of a
playmaking partner for some stretches. He's also eligible Jordan Poole
for a huge rookie extension, so maybe he gets a nice,
you know, pay day. Maybe not quite yet, we'll see.
But in in addition to everything I've mentioned Jordan Poole,
he's back now. I also mentioned Andrew Wiggins and what
a huge factor he was in the playoffs. Frankly his
(14:16):
best days. I believe ahead of them. The Warriors know it.
I am predicting the Warriors are not letting Wiggins go
now or in the future. They simply don't have a
realistic way to replace his defense, his athleticism, his versatility.
He's got a key role, he plays a key position.
I believe the Warriors will pay what it takes to
keep Wiggins. Also, Andrew Wiggins might not demand a full
(14:39):
max since he's already made plenty of money in his career.
He loves he loves it in San Francisco. The Warriors
love him. He's never been better, He's never been more valuable.
To a team. And he doesn't seem like the guy
who would just chase dollars for just chasing dollars. Six
he he let all postseason players with a cumulative plus
minus one forty. But the long short of it is
(15:01):
he you know he's gonna get paid. I would say
there's a middle ground, maybe something in the neighborhood of
thirty million a year. He's do thirty three million next season.
But Andrew Wiggins, if you like what you saw, hey,
the best is yet to come. And he's already said quote,
I would love to stay here being here as top match.
(15:21):
The way they treat the players, the way they treat
your family, were all one big family. A lot of
places might say that, but here their actions show it.
So in addition to everything I've mentioned, let's not forget
you're gonna have Andrew Wiggins next year. Let's give some
top credit to the front office too, Because Bob Myers
and Joe Lecobe never let up the Warriors. They play
(15:45):
to win, simple as that. They'll spend money. They'll spend
more money than anybody. They'll make more than anybody. They'll
talk about it more than anybody. They're they're hungry for titles.
People mocked them, They don't care. They feed off that.
They say it, they do it, they back it up,
they keep saying it. And if they keep doing what
they've been doing, why can't the Warriors continue to win
(16:06):
at least one more title? I think they are because
the truth of the matter is people don't expect him
to do it. They expect themselves to do it. And
they've done it four times already. And Bob Myers is
the guy who plotted out the plan to sign Kevin
Durant two years before during even actually became a free
agent in so who knows what they've got up their sleeve.
(16:27):
And Bob Myers is the guy who figured out how
to turn Durant's departure into getting Andrew Wiggins and Genathan
cominga No one talks about that this time. I think
Myers will plan to keep this roster intact. I really
believe they want to keep everybody. Bob Myers said for
a few years that he he truly believes that Steph Curry,
(16:48):
Clay Thompson, and Draymond Green have earned the right to
play this out until it's proven they can't win championships anymore.
And guess what, they still can and I think they're
gonna be right back in the mix next year. Right now,
I get it that the Warriors are facing some financial
decisions that would really crush other teams. They're already paying
a record total amount of luxury tax of over three
(17:10):
hundred million dollars, and they have some key free agents
that will be free agents this summer. If resigned, that
could I can add another four hundred check that at
another hundred million, making that luxury tax four hundred million.
And when you consider that, you know that money adds
up pretty quicker. And they've got more key players to resign.
(17:31):
You could look up a year from now and that
could you could be the Warriors could be looking at
half a billion. So what will they do first? All right?
If they if they can sign Wiggins to an extension,
they'll do that. That will jump him over the four
hundred million dollar line in the next two years. If
they can't sign Wiggins, which I don't believe is going
to be the case, they'll play it out. Let Wiggins
know that they still have every intent to make sure
(17:52):
that uh Andrew Wiggins remains a Warrior for the rest
of his career. Now, they'll be willing to pick Kevon
Looney market price, whatever that turns out to be. I
think they do the same for Gary Payton. And what's
interesting is both players are perfect for the Warriors system,
which makes them very valuable to the Warriors. Maybe not
as valuable for other teams, but very valuable to the Warriors.
(18:15):
And both players will probably want to stay with the Warriors,
even if the dollars, you know, aren't what they can get.
But if they're equivalent, why would they want to leave
this situation. So again, those two contracts alone, that takes
the Warriors back over four hundred million, even before you
kick in with an Andrew Wiggins extension. But I really
believe strongly the Warriors franchise, by the way, they make
(18:39):
a lot of money. Okay, they print money there, I
don't mean literally, But the Warriors are gonna have some
open roster sponse this summer. What do they do last year?
They got out of Porter Jr. And Andrea Goodalar. Look,
they could resign some of all these guys, but they're
restricted as to what they can pay in because they
have one year deals unless they use the mid level
(18:59):
tax payer. But look, the Warriors could just see what's
available on the veterans minimum market. And I really believe
there are a destination that a lot of interesting players
would be more than willing to not only take the
Warrior's call, but go there. Right again, I keep coming
back to Andrew Wiggins. He had a complete career rebirth
Otto Porter, was a very valuable cog and loved every
(19:19):
second of his tenure. Igudala came back, traded away to
make room for D'Angel Russell. In that championship party a
TV garden, you don't think the Warriors love celebrating on
the road there, And you know that hundreds of players
and all the folks who hate people hate the Warriors too,
but they hate the Celtics worse. And that was quite
a sight to see. I think Draymond will be incredibly motivated,
(19:43):
right and I know that I don't know that the
Warriors are going to be in a rush to give
Draymond more years behind, you know, beyond the final two
he's got left. He still got two years left right,
fifty three million on his current deal. They need to
be eligible for a non extension. But Lakhimer hate him.
Draymond is the heart and soul of the team. There's
nobody else Curry would rather play with, and that's a
huge point. Draymond has two years left on his deal,
(20:05):
so Myers, Bob Myers, no, no rush to do anything there. Finally,
let's not let's not bury the lead. Okay, Steve Kurge
just simply knows how to do this. The Golden State
Warriors are twenty two and two in playoff series in
playoff series in curs eight seasons two and two. The
two series they lost tore in seven games in the
(20:26):
finals to Cleveland in and in six games in the
finals to Toronto in I already mentioned earlier. When they
get to the Western Grandfic Finals, they close the deal.
It's time to acknowledge the obvious. Steve Kerr is one
of the great playoff strategists you can and playoff winners.
(20:47):
You can now mention him in the names of the
you know the statue West coaches, Greg Popovich, Phil Jackson,
pat Riley Red Arbuck. Yes, why can't you mention him
among those names, because when you go through some of
the moves this postseason, he agreed with Draymond and and
Curry that Looney should start Game six against Memphis. That
(21:10):
was Steve Kerr. He put Draymond on Jalen Brunson in
the Dallas series, pulling Draymond for a long stretch and
the pivotal moments of the Game four in Boston. That
took some coyones to do. But while doing it, he
got quality minutes from Magelica against Dallas in Boston. Plotting
out the perfect rotation for Curry. All season and in
(21:33):
the playoffs, every rotation, every combination seemed to produce results.
All right, Plus you figured out once they got the
Game four. Let's face it, they figured out the Celtics.
They figured out what to do. Think back to the
three game winning streak after going down to one to Memphis,
or the three game winning streak to beat Cleveland two
(21:54):
series after falling down two to one, or the three
game winning streak to beat Oklahoma City when they were
down three to one and to remember that team at
Russell Westbrooken and Kevin Durant, or the two game winning
streak to knockoff Houston after they went down three to two,
and they when the Chant went on to win the championship.
Now this one they went on to win three consecutive
victories after Boston played tremendously to take it to one lead.
(22:18):
You don't do that unless you're very smart. You're very strategic.
And if you're gonna knock off a Steve Kerr team
and the playoffs, you better pack a lunch. It just
doesn't happen twenty two and two in Steve Kerr's tenure
in the NBA Playoffs, two and two in every series. Now,
(22:39):
what did I just say? I think the Warriors dynasty
got a second win this year. They're gonna be back
next year. We'll see if I'm right. Coming up, I
mentioned earlier the p g A is striking back. They're
starting to readjust how they established purses for tournaments and
the calendar years scheduled. G I wonder why I thought
(23:02):
the l I V wasn't a threat. Well, this kind
of proves that they are. I'll talk about that in
just a second, but first let's go back to Moncy
with the latest Ernie. I totally agree with you with
what you're saying about Golden State. Totally agree. I don't.
I don't see how they don't win more championships in
the next coming years. Obviously, they got to keep some
of the players, like you said, but I totally am
(23:23):
with you. I think they're they're solid, and I think
they're good, and I think they can do a lot
of damage for the next couple of years. So we'll
see kind of like the damage that Live Golf is
doing to the p g A, which, oh yeah, that's
a whole different thing. Well, let's start with the US
women's soccer. I'm gonna give some love to the ladies.
They had an exhibition game against Columbia and Colorado. They
beat them three zero. They have been undefeated in their
(23:46):
last sixty eight home games. Go gals. That is amazing.
They're gonna have a rematch against Columbia on Tuesday in Utah.
But in Major League Baseball lots going on. The Orioles
beat the White Sox, where their fourth straight win, while
the Red Socks have now won six in a row.
After beating Cleveland forward to two. Alex Verdugo hit a
three run homer in the victory. The Rangers walked it
(24:06):
off with a solo homer from adoles Garcia in the
ninth inning, while the Bruis etched the Blue Jays five
to four. The Bruis and the Cardinals are now tied
for first place in the National League Central. There was
a combined no hitter last night in Major League Baseball.
The Astros through a combined no hitter against the Yankees
for the first time in nineteen years. They shut down
the best team in baseball three to zero. Well, the Mets, well,
(24:29):
they continue to have the best record in the National League.
They beat the Marlins five to three. Pete Laanso hit
two homers in the victory, giving twenty two for the season,
which leads the National League, while the Phillies beat the
Padres for to two. Unfortunately for the Phillies, outfielder designated
hitter Bryce Harper has a broken left thumb after being
hit by a nineties seven mile proper per hour fastball
(24:50):
from Blake Snell in the fourth inning against the Padres.
Harper joins a list of stars that are on the
injured list. So many injured stars in baseball, Mooky, that's
Jacob the Grand Fernando Tattoos Jr. Walker, Bueller, Chris Sales,
Steven Strassburg. Bryce Harper will now be joining that group.
And the Dodgers lost to the Braves last night. Marcello
Zuna hit a two run homer in the eighth inning
(25:12):
to beat the Dodgers five to three, while the Cardinals
scored two in the eighth inning to beat the Cubs.
They're still tied, like I said, with the Brutals for
first place in National League Central. Back to you, Bernie,
all right, thanks so much, good stuff. All right. I
talked earlier about the l I V. He's no longer
a theoretical threat. They're real. They've got a second tournament
(25:33):
coming up in Portland's this week, and Jay Monahan initially
seemed dismissive. Well, if he's dismissive, why did the following happen?
This last Tuesday? Jay Monahan met with the players at
the Travelers Championship and what he did he used that
as an opportunity to outline some ideas meant to combat
(25:53):
the quote I see this and quotes up start l
I V. Go off and turned to call him up
start at this point when you got a trillion hours
behind you, And he had said this idea had been
in the works before the new tour began. So look,
the PGA Tour has headed for a return to what
they call a calendar year schedule that would see a
(26:14):
series of big money fall events for top players as
well as the tournaments for others to improve their position,
and they would not be a part of the FedEx
Cup schedule. Now I mentioned this past Tuesday, J Monahan
met with the players at the Travelers Championship to outline
some of the ideas. But some of the specifics include
(26:35):
increased purses what a novelty. Increased purses translation, more money
for the golfers, and this would be for the elevated
events such as the Genesis Invitational and the Arnold Palmer
Invitational and the Memorial Tournament, as well as the PGA.
Well they're you know, they have a flagship event of course,
the Players Championship. Now, as you know, the PGA does
(26:58):
not governed the Majors, the Master's, the US Open, the Open,
the PGA they don't they don't govern those. And the
PGA is also structured as a nonprofit organization. They say
about two two million dollars a year in taxes by
doing that, but in doing so, they're prohibited from paying
players directly. But what they're not prohibited from doing is
creating these huge money pools and um and allowing the
(27:24):
players to avail themselves depending on if they performed. So
apparently there was a there was a player at the
meeting who had an interview I don't know who the
player was, in an interview with Sports Illustrated, and he
basically told them that several there will be several limited
field events that will have twenty million dollar persons. Now,
this is big, Okay, this is big, by the way,
(27:45):
just so you know, for comparison, all eight events in
the Live Tour this year will have minimum twenty five
million dollar persons. So, but the PGA persons have not
been this big in the past. Others will be part
of the fall schedule, and so you'll see some of
the events rotate throughout Europe and even in the Middle East.
But also Monahan will continue speaking out on this. He'll
(28:07):
have more details, it's my understanding. The Golf Digests report
of the details of the meeting and said that the
special events in the fall would be for the top
fifty in the final FedEx Cup standing. So see, you
can't just show up and get paid like like you
do in the In the l I V Tour, the
remainder of the players will come in sort of an
alternate series of tournaments. This will give them a chance
(28:28):
to enhance their tour cards or their status, and they
want to be able to qualify for the more elevated tournaments.
Now this no system. Interestingly enough, though it doesn't go
into effect until the fall. With the calendar your season
to begin in January. This is the same as it did.
They haven't done this since. Clearly this move is viewed
(28:51):
as a response to the l I V Golf Invitational Series,
because that's caused considerable disruption in recent weeks by ning
guys like Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson and Bryson de Shambo.
These are guaranteed contracts to play in purses for fifty
four whole events, not seventy two whole events. Remember that's
(29:15):
why they call it the Live Tour. LV is the
Roman numeral for fifty four, and they playt whole tournaments. Also,
of course, if you were to birdie every single hole
in a seven in a par seventy two course, you'd
shoot fifty four. So clever, huh. But a good bit
of what the PGA Tour has been doing was already
in the works, allegedly before the Saudi backed LLIV Golf Series.
(29:38):
Regrouped this last spring and came out with their eight
tournament lineup this year, which is going to be followed
by ten tournaments. And right now they have plans on
the table the l V to launch a full fourteen
tournament league schedule. I'm betting that Greg Norman is going
to move that up a year and make fourteen tournaments
(30:02):
because he knows that the l i V has momentum.
By the way, the Associated Press also reported last fall
that the tour was considering quote a global series of
events with big purses, no cuts and guaranteed money. And
the PGA Tour discussed this outline at the meeting with
the players back in February. See there, you really think
(30:23):
they'd be doing this as the l i V was not,
you know, prevalent. Now they say the PGA Tour was,
you know, already set to see an increase in purses
due to their you know new TV network contracts that
some of them which just started in two and as
part of the plan plan, the FedEx cut pay out
(30:44):
of seventy five million this year with eight ten million
to the winner, would increase to a hundred million in
four with twenty million to the winner. All right, so
see it's it's it's money talks, right. Any of the
new plans still gotta be approved, by the way, by
the PGA Tour Policy Board. But I think to a man,
they know some sort of change is necessary, right. Adam
(31:05):
Scott talked about it earlier this year. He said, we'd
all like to see, uh, you know, the situation where
you're not penalized for taking a break. That's one of
the big things. I still go back to my Lee
Trevino story TPC dearborn in Michigan. Lee Trevino's teeing off.
Somebody's talking to the peanut gallery. Trevino turns around and
(31:27):
tells the guy to shut up. You know, Lee Trevino,
he's not shy. The guy starts barking back at Lee
and says, hey, Lee, come on man. Cecil Fielder can
go to bat in front of fifty thousand people screaming.
He doesn't tell anybody to shut up. Trevino look back
at the guy and said, yeah, well, cecil Fielder can
go over four inch track out four times. He's still
(31:47):
getting paid. You get my drift. The l I V
is paying people just to show up hundred and twenty grand.
You can finish last. The gentleman who finished Adams something
we tree, I think it was his name a cool
over par for his efforts, he collected a hundred and
twenty grand And by the way, Charles Schwartzel, who's four
(32:09):
point seven million was more than he had made in
the last five years, did it in one three day weekend,
while that same weekend Rory McElroy was collected one point
five million in the Royal Canadian Open for winning. Not
a bad day, but a third of what Charles Schwartzel got.
Coming up, a big name this week bolted officially for
the l i V. Now is this the problem and
(32:31):
how big of a loss is this for the l
i V Tour? Work with me. I'm Bernie Fradower Company
Alive from the Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio Studios. Keep
it locked. You're listening to Fox Sports Sunday on Fox
Sports Radio. All right back on Fox Sports Sunday, Fox
Sports Radio and Bernie Fraddo coming you live from the
Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio Studios. Take up to three
and Pacific six am Eastern. We continue with l i
(32:54):
V Talk because another big name bolted this past week
the hits keep coming. You may heard of this guy.
His name is Brooks Kepka. He bolts for the l V.
And is this a problem and how big? Is this
a big bloss for the PGA Tour? Because I say yes,
this leaves the Mark Keevco becomes the fourth player from
(33:15):
last year's Player Impact Program top ten to leave for
l i V, joining Johnson, Michelson and Dschembo. That's Dustin Johnson,
Phil Michelson and Bryson d Shembo. Now, this Player Impact
Program was created by the PGA Tour to funnel more
money to the top players. In theory, the idea is
(33:36):
to make them less likely to join a rival league.
And these aren't Hammond Eggers. Kepka has four majors, he
has a huge social media presence and remember last year
his rivalry, his feud with Breston Dsmbo that made them
one of the PGA Tour's most recognizable players, which is
(33:57):
exactly why it's such a boon for the l I
V and why they're happy to have him. Now, the
question is if you talk to people who cover golf,
are they surprised by Brooks kept goas defection? No, because
of course Brooks is going to go to the l
I V Golf. He grinded it out on the Challenge
Tour to get to the European Tour, and then he
(34:19):
earned his PGA card through a top five finish in
the US Open. Keptica has never been a PGA Tour
player like a Jordan's Speed or Justin Thomas Roy McElroy.
He's been like a Baker Mayfield type. Right, are you
surprised at brooks kept goas defection. We're talking about the
guy whose entire identity he's been about making it clear
(34:40):
he doesn't really like golf all that much, but he
does like whey majors and he does like making money essentially,
that's why he plays. So I would say this is
a fit for him because he gives kept Goo a
chance to play less golf for about ten times the
(35:00):
money and still get to plan majors also. But it's uh.
While he kept being interviewed during the US Open, he
said that, you know, the the the reporters were basically
taking a black cloud over the over the U s
Open because of the l I V. And what does
(35:21):
he do? He joins the LV forty hours later. It's
a perfect fit for Kepca. By the way, his brother Chase,
who's I've never heard of until recently most of the world,
isn't even always a professional golfer until he joined the
l i V. He he was part of that opening
wave of players who joined right out of the gate. Now,
I will tell you this is good for the l
(35:43):
i V in the sense too, because brooks Kepka has
a social media presence that that indicates people are interested
in him as a person beyond just golf, okay, and
and so he's got a little bit of an attitude
to you know, he always acted like he was God's
gift to the game. If it wasn't a major, he
(36:04):
was like going out of his way to playing tournaments
that weren't majors. But this is also a guy that's
a four time major winner who's in the prime of
his career. And I would just say, when you look
at the guys, when you look at the fact that
the soddis you're just throwing big time money at these guys.
Um you could say, Bryson Deshambo is leaving not just
(36:27):
for the cash. Maybe he wanted to get away from
brooks Kaepca However, Brooks is there now. And by the way,
De Shambo is not actually liked greatly by his peers
from what I've been told though, and uh, you know,
he just kind of took his bag and one elsewhere.
But the long and the short of short of it
is is that how can it be bad if Kepca
(36:48):
and and De Shambo continue the rivalry but nowunce on
the live tour and then maybe they step over and
play the majors as well, which the PGA Tour doesn't govern.
So on a scale of one to ten, and how
much is the PGA Tour in trouble? Okay, I don't know.
I'd give it maybe a five at this point, but
that's not zero, is it. See the reality of it
(37:09):
is the PGA Tour very much underestimated to global market
for golf. This is all about money. It's all about money.
It's all about money. And I will tell you the
j monahand just said it last week. If this is
an arms race for money, we can't compete. And if
it continues to be about money, the p G A
could could be in trouble. Uh what that means, I
(37:31):
don't know. Uh. Some reporters think on a scale of
one to ten, there are seven or an eight, because
there's there's a few legacy golfers who have the luxury
worry about, you know, their glory and their career. They're
they're a small number guys like Rory McElroy justin Thomas
Jordan's speed, they'll never go. I don't think there's a
(37:51):
handful of others that won't either, because there they want
to protect their legacy and they do like the the adulation,
and they do like the glory, and they do, you know,
the respect. But when you start seeing these massive payments
coming in mid range PG or p G A tour
players keep cashing these massive checks like Charles Schwartzel, all
of a sudden, you are going to wonder, how, you know,
(38:15):
how hard is it going to be for these guys
the same No, if they have their chance, you know, uh,
the lv IS isn't going anywhere, and these guys can
take their time. Maybe they jump next year, maybe they
never jump. I don't know. But the PGA Tour can
make changes and try to fix this messive. You know
that they've got themselves into a little bit. But there's
also a scenario where many more players continue to defect
(38:39):
before these changes fully go into effect. Right, I think
for the short term, all the LV tour and all
the noise they're making right now, the question is can
they sustain this? Okay? Um, and the questions are worth
the society, government get out of this. As I've told you,
I think this is a vanity play. I think that's
an image play. And and but the bottom line is,
(39:03):
regardless of what their motive is, it's still a big
problem for the p g A. They still have time
to handle it. Okay, but the PGA is going to
have to evolve. And you know, they give out suspension,
they give out bands, and you know, the long and
the short of it is is that they do have
a tax exemp status which limits the kind of money
they can raise for payouts and their kids. Very complicated.
(39:25):
But as the lure of these big persones grows stronger
and more big names leave to defect, I gotta tell you, man,
the PGA as we know it might not look the same.
The bottom line is, yeah, I think they're in trouble.
To what degree, I don't really know. You're gonna have
to see how this plays out. The LV has six
(39:45):
more tournaments this year. They're gonna have probably fourteen next year.
And as these payouts continue and his golfers continue to
defect and big names go, We're gonna get our answer
coming out. Speak of an answer, or the N's and
Kyrie Irving about to get a divorce, We'll talk about it.
Keep it locked. I'm Bernie Frider. This is Fox Sports Sunday.
The Fox Sports Sunday train keeps rolling right along. I'm
(40:06):
Bernie Frida, where comedy Live from Las Vegas. Fox Sports
Radio students will check you up to three am Pacific
six am Eastern. Still lots to get to on the docket,
including in the final hour, what kind of brand new
fool are you? Followed by what my name? And then
of course later on Chris Perfet's World of Soccer. Yes,
it is a World Cup year. But are the Nets
(40:27):
and Kyrie about to get a divorce? You know? They
throughout the word impass I don't even know if that's
the right word, right, because that would imply that both
teams are trying to make a deal. They've just hit
a rut. I just get this feeling. I can't prove
it that the Nets, deep down might be done with Kyrie. No,
I didn't no extension. Please don't opt in, Please don't
lift the door hit you in the butt on the
(40:47):
way out. Yeah, you missed a hundred and twenty three
games in the last three years, and you played a
whopping twenty nine games last year. And every time uh,
Kyrie talks my teeth hitch, he reminds me of a
Woody Allen movie. I mean, I don't know if you're
Woody Allen movie buff. People either like him or hate him.
I loved his movies. One of the very first movies
(41:08):
he ever made was a movie called Bananas. It came
out many many years ago, and Woody Allen was in
the movie. He played a character by the name of
Feeling Mellish and Fielding Mellish was an inspiring journalist and
he was commissioned by the media outlet he was working
forward to go down to El Salvador to cover this war.
And while he was there, he meets a young lady
(41:29):
and he tries to impress her very much and tells
her he's a world traveler, and she says, well, have
you ever been to Denmark? He says, yeah, of course,
I've been in Denmark. I've even been to the Vatican.
She was a Vatican. The Vatican is not in Denmark.
He says, well, they were doing so well they opened
one up in Denmark. That's how I feel about Kyrie Irving.
He just kind of makes it up as he goes along.
(41:50):
But being that as a may alongside Zach Levine and
Bradley Beale and DeAndre Ayton and several other NBA free agents,
the most anticipated one I think people are watching is
gonna be Kyrie Irving. Right, he has a June twenty
nine deadline. We talked about this with UH with UH
my guest at eleven fifteen earlier tonight, Mark Medina. He
(42:13):
has a June twenty deadline that he can opt in.
Kyrie can opt in and he'll be paid thirty six
point nine million. He's got the player option for next season. However,
the truth of the matter is is that the relationship
between him and the Nets is very stagnant. Right, I
get it. Irving is a seven time All Star and
but he's he can consider the open marketplace. But what
(42:37):
is you know, what is he really accomplished since he
joined the Nets along with Kevin Durant in the summer, right,
Irving did make the All Star team in one and
he he did help the franchise to the Eastern Conference
semifinals along Durant and James Harden, but then he suffered
an ankle injury in Game four against the Bucks. And
after this past season in which Kyrie played just games
(43:01):
and missed most of the season's home games because of
his decision not to comply with New York City's vaccine mandate,
or if he made it clear that he intended to
return the Nets, return to the Nets in the summer
and continue to build with Durant and newcomer Ben Simmons,
the question is why isn't he out there in yet? Then,
(43:21):
because this guy is all the credibility of a dermatologist
with acne right now, he did stay back in April,
I don't really plan on going anywhere after the Nets
got swept by the Celtics in the first round of
the Eastern Conference playoffs. Now, of course, the Celtics were
one of the other teams that Kyrie has left the
(43:41):
trail along with Cleveland. The guy's got a dudes, got
a body of work, let's face it, right. So it's
been two months since April, and I don't think the
signs are any closer in terms of trying to find
a resolution that brings Kyrie Irving back to Brooklyn and
we you know, keep him united with Kevin Durant, who's
who's actually under contract with the Nets through and I
(44:05):
know some some teams are keeping some tabs on the situation.
Could he end up with the Lakers Kyrie? I doubt
it unless he's willing to take a six million dollar
mid level exception, which means a thirty million dollar pay cut.
Karrie does wacky things, but this would be wacky for him.
The Clippers. I don't think I have any interest. I
doubt that Knicks have interest, right, I think it's been
(44:27):
talked about that they might have interest, But I just
doubt it, into which I respond, are you kidding me? Well,
then again, why not? Kyrie is very durable and reliable,
and he's not high maintens at all. It's very dependable.
I mean, listening to him speak in front of a
microphone is like listening to a modern day Socrates. Man,
the dude just losing with wisdom. He never misses games,
(44:48):
he always communicates with the coaching staff, and everyone's in
a loop. He's the consummate teammate. That was hashtag sarcasm
in case you couldn't figure that out. In case you
missed it, Carrie played a total at the twenty nine
games last year with Brooklyn, and in his three illustrious
years with the Nets, Irving's missed a total of a
hundred and twenty three games. Now, let's why not. Let's
(45:11):
play this out for the Lakers. If they were going
to acquire Irving and reunite him with Lebron, which didn't
work out in Cleveland, this guy's got a body of work.
This would be maybe Irving opting in to facilitated trade
because the Lakers realistically they cannot clear any cap space
to sign them themselves, and assigning trade would trigger their hardcap.
(45:32):
That's making acquiring Irving significantly more difficult. Right. If Irving
opted in, then Rob Polinka, who's the Lakers GM, he
would have to satisfy the collective Barty in agreement salary
matching rules. Meeting of Irving's thirty six million was the
only incoming salary. The Lakers could send anywhere from twenty
(45:53):
nine million to forty five million to the Nets, or
a third team, and that would this would actually be
illegal transact. Okay, or, as I mentioned a minute ago,
Kyrie could take a thirty million dollar discount and play
for a mid level exception at six point three million
this year and moved to l A ha ha, Yeah,
I think he had a better chance of Led Zeppelin
(46:15):
re recording the Gilligan's Island theme song and selling a
million copies for that to happen. Now for the Knicks, Luisa,
I also don't think he ends up with the likely
path to acquire Irving depends on what the Knicks check
That the Nets prioritize seed New York. They're basically even
with the sary cap line three, so they could clear
(46:36):
enough space to sign Irving on a maximum contract, they
have to have offload a few saries, you know, maybe
they just they move on Evan Fournier or Alec Burks
or New Orleans Noel or Kemba Walker. But the Knicks
could also offer some or all those players to the
Nets or a third team in a possible sign and trade.
(46:57):
Not for the Clippers, And again I don't think the
Clippers are interested. But what would be the path for
the Clippers to get Irving? And that would require him
to opt in opt in because there's significantly not only
both over the luxury tax line, then the other over
the hardcap line, and again to satisfy salary matching, the
(47:19):
Clippers would need to send out between thirty and forty
five into the Nets or thirteam if Irving is the
only salary headed their way. Now, the Clippers scenario is
a little less complicated than the Lakers because the Clippers
have a series of players making between eleven and seventeen
million dollars to potentially work with. I mean Norman Powell,
Marcus Morris, Luke Nard, Reggie Jackson. You move two or
(47:42):
three of those guys that satisfies the collective bargainings trade rules,
and actually they could. This would be stupid, but you know,
Terrence Man, Brandon Boston, you send those guys onto the
sweeten the deal in Brooklyn gets a few good players back. Now,
a potential Irving departure would be incredibly damaging to the
(48:03):
Nets because they don't really have much ability to replace
him and his salary slot. Should Irving sign elsewhere was
a free agent, I say that that big dam deal
they got swept last year Branchreaky said, at best, we
finished last with you, we can finish last without you.
I have zero trust's zero faith. And Kyrie Irving, I
am not denying his physical ability. He's a seven time
All Star, he's brilliant when he plays. That's not good
(48:26):
enough for me. It shouldn't be good enough for anybody. Unlikely,
your path to any departure would be a sign and trade. Okay, Now,
Brooklyn currently owes a hundred and eleven million dollars to
six players in this upcoming season, not including Irving, so
we've been filling out. A roster with minimum salaries would
put the Nets over the cap next season. And if
Irving bolts, Brooklyn's strongest path to adding talent would be
(48:50):
all they could offer people would would be the ten
million dollar mid level exceptions. And by the way, Irving
is eligible for a new deal if he exercises the
player's option and the that's you know, they decide to
extend him from there, which could land him a starting
salary of forty five in twenty three or twenty four.
(49:11):
Why would you do that? Why would you do that?
And I thought that the Nets tipped their hands saying
the thing they covered most is the reliability, and the reliable,
you know, the someone who's committed and talk is cheap.
You gotta show me, right, Shawn Marks, I thought was
very articulate a couple of weeks back when he basically said,
(49:32):
we're looking for guys that want to be part of
something bigger than themselves. They want to play team basketball,
they want to be available. That goes not only for
Kyrie but everybody here. All right, but we all know
you were speaking and cod you're talking about Kyrie who
needed to take time off last year just because he
doesn't even bother the call. It's my understanding he didn't
(49:54):
even call Steve Nash's head coach, just disappeared for ten days.
Then you had the vaccine situation, and you get these
crazy mood swings he did in Cleveland, he did in Boston.
They booed the heck out of when he came back
to Boston. The long and the short of it is
the drafts behind this free agencies around the corner, and
it's a bit of a game of chicken right now.
(50:15):
I'm surprised Kyrie hasn't opted in, and I'll tell you why.
That's a free thirty six point nine million go out there.
What if they did the unthinkable, played seventy six games,
average thirty points a game, Brooklyn gets to the finals
or gets to the NBA Finals. He SHOs put himself.
Kyrie has put himself in prime position to get a
max steel. Prove it on the floor. Don't talk about it,
(50:38):
don't try to manipulate the system, and you're living off
the past. Again. I said it again a minute ago.
I think Kyrie Irving has the credibility of a dermatologist
with acne. So it doesn't matter what he says. Don't
tell me, show me coming up. Let's bring in the crew.
They're all big sports fans. They all have teams they like,
(51:00):
and they all know what they look for in players
on their roster, not only on the floor, but off
the floor, and in terms of how they mesh with
the organization and their fellow teammates. I spent the first
hour talking significantly about one of the things that makes
the Golden State Warriors so great. They all know the role.
The sum is much greater than there's some the total
(51:21):
is much greater than some of its parts. And that's
why there's not only one four championships in the last
eight years. I think they're gonna be right back in
the finals next year. So coming up, let's bringing the crew.
Let's get their thoughts on the phenomenon known as Kyrie Irving.
I'm Bernie Fratto. We're coming to you alive from Las
Vegas Fox Sports Radio Studios. Keep it locked right here.
You're listening to Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Sports Radio.
(51:43):
All right back on Fox Sports Sunday, Fox Sports Radio.
I'm Bernie Fratto, coming to you live from the Las
Vegas Fox Sports Radio Studios. We're talking about Kyrie Irving.
We hear that his negotiations with the Mets the Nets
have become very acrimonious on Although Irving has made a
list of a wish list of as many as six
(52:06):
landing spots, not all of them love him back. Right.
One team that's possible that's looming as Lakers, and I'll
get to that in a minute. But I'll tell you
why I think that's even a long shop. Let's go
around the room. We've got some sports fans here and
they've all got their favorite teams, and I'm curious what
you want Currie on your team? Acknowledging he's just seven
(52:27):
time All Star, won a championship, but you get all
the Michigas that comes along with it. Now, monc, I
gotta believe. Are the Golden State Warriors your favorite team? No, No,
they're not. I'm a Clippers fan through and through. And
let me tell you, we do now want Kyrie. Okay,
you got you got the floor. Do not on Kyrie
at all. I like the guy. I mean he's a
(52:48):
cuckoo bird a little bit, but I like the guy.
I just think after last year, year and a half,
you have, you have so much to prove, so for
this season now, I'm good hard pass, hard pass in
a couple of years. If you kind of got your
ish together and you want to play for the Clippers,
I'd welcome you with open arms right now. I'm good.
(53:09):
But how do you know? How do you know this
guy will ever have his stuff? Right? Exactly exactly. I
don't like the guy. Why do you like the guy?
I flat on, I'm just calling. I'm just calling a readier.
I do not like the guy. What do you like about?
I like his game. I like his style of play.
That's undeniable, right, So, And like I said, he's a
Coo Cooper. But like I, it doesn't bother me. That
doesn't bother me. I don't dislike him. And if we're
(53:33):
talking just skill. He's so good, he's so good, And
I think he keeps a calm head at most stressful
situations when others don't know how to do that. Yeah,
he's a money player. I will just say this. You know,
I'm kind of a hardass. I kind of like people
to show up to work for sure. I can get that. Yeah,
(53:54):
forgive me that confession twice. I don't see how anyone
takes Kyrie. I think he's dug himself in such a
hole that it's going to take a while for him
to dig himself out of it. Yeah, right, and and
and what price too? Because and I can't believe he
has an opted in all right, christ pop Fette, I
(54:16):
have a feeling. I know what you look for in
a player and a teammate. Give me your thoughts on
whether or not you'd like to see I'm gonna assume
the Pistons are your favorite team. Yes, yes, I have
grown up with the Pistons in my blood. I actually
want to be my family new Bill Amber. I got
to be a ball boy for warm up throwing a
bown to U Joe Dumars into Grant Hill. So it's
(54:39):
it's in my pace, it's in my blood to a
very core. We trust so so here. So you understand
the culture of that team as well as anybody, and
I covered that team. Would you want Kyrie and the
Pistons if it's for the Pistons, No, But that's that's
in a case where the Pistons have clearly decided that
their model is to build around a very young core
(55:00):
right now. Maybe they get a veteran at some point
to show them some some of the ropes. But I
mean their their future is pretty much set. They know
who they want and their timetable is years out from Kyrie.
If I was a team on the edge, though I
would consider Kyrie to be it was supposed to be
Brooklyn talent Trump trouble at the end of the day.
(55:20):
I I always default to you know, I'm mixing sports here,
but I always just default to Steve to uh, Steve
Kim about the quote about Hannibal elector if he ran
a four three, Uh, we'd say he had an eating disorder.
Kyrie Irving Cardinals, Yes, but I what it comes down
to it is like I understand the reputation Kyrie has.
(55:43):
I would say that that just seems to be part
for the course for the NBA at this point. A
lot of guys miss time. Ben Simmons misses a lot
of times, a lot of guys git riled up about
social issues. Um, just there there seems this seems to
be a current there. And I think that if you
are someone on the cusp and you have a good
culture already, you trust in yourself to try to reign
(56:03):
in Kyrie Irving and you would hope that as COVID
nineteen kind of slowly as everyone returns to normalcy, that
Kyrie kind of gets off the horse a little bit.
But I I could understand giving the side eye to it.
I just think that there's a lot of teams out
there that talent would trump trouble in this case, especially
when the NBA is concerned. You're gonna have rope burns
(56:24):
from your rosary hoping this guy straightened out. I have zero,
zero faith in him, and he has the audacity I
heard from a source. I trust that new the Nets
are actually willing to extend him, which is crazy to me.
On top of the thirty six million, he gets this
year two more years at eighty four million, but Irving
scoffed at that. He wants a five year, two hundred
(56:44):
and forty five million dollar deal on top of the
thirty six million. Are you crazy? Would you like fresh
ground pepper with that as well? Okay, we're all for two.
I don't know why you anybody would want Kyrie on
their team. Dude, you've done it, Brandon. I'm assuming you're
with us, Brandon truthfully there, but yeah, I'm right here. Okay, So,
first of all, who's your favorite team? So? I am
(57:05):
from San Diego State, so I follow Kauai, so I
consider myself to be a Clippers fan. I guess now
I would not want Kyrie. Uh kind of echoing the
same you know, agreement as Monsey and Chris. I think
that Kyrie kind of has burned a bridget with every
team he's been out. He's a great player, do not
(57:25):
get me wrong, but I think like his he's not
a great teammate. And you know, with the way he
left Cleveland, the way he left Boston, and now with
the way he is kind of easing his way out
of the nets. I don't think I would want that
kind of presence in the locker room. And uh, you
know Kauai is that trouble staying on the core as
(57:46):
it is. I don't think the Clippers could have two guys,
uh who they're paying a lot of money not be
present on the court fair enough. And it's the reasons
Kyrie doesn't show up to drive me a nets. All right,
let's are on the ruin more time. Let's looking to
our crystal ball. Well, Kyrie ever be part of a
championship team again, Monsy will I'm gonna you know, I'm
(58:13):
gonna say no, but I'm not confident. Yeah, it depends
where he ends up. I say no, I say not, no,
hell no, he's his best danswer behind him. They did
have the Miracle Series and with Cleveland back in Oh
by the way, Kyrie left. All right, Well, I'm gonna
you know, all right, Christoper Fett, Well, Kyrie Ever find
his way onto a championship proster again. That's kind of
(58:36):
rough because the NBA has kind of opened up as
far as who's going up to these championships. I I
I'll lean yes again. I feel like if it's not
with the Nats, he'll probably end up with someone like
the Lakers and they'll try to make one more run
for it and maybe they get to the finish line
as long as they get the availability out of him.
But I'm I'm I'll hedge that and I'll say, yeah,
(58:56):
I could see it. I could see that as a possibility. Yeah.
The key is is that if Kyrie will either regardless
of whether or not he stays with the Nets or
he ends up somewhere else, the premises that he's going
to be that that that cog in the wheel, that
that uh that uh you know, helps you win a championship. Otherwise,
(59:18):
what the hell for? Right? Uh? Brandon, Will Kyrie ever
hoist the Stanley Cup again? Hoist Stanley Cup? I don't
think you know what I mean. Um, I I think
I'll say yes, but with kind of a caveat, I
don't see him winning it kind of as a star
on the team. Maybe later on in his career, as
(59:39):
like kind of a role player towards the end of
his career. I could see it, but not as a star. Um. Yeah, interesting,
So you you guys think there's some gas in the
tank there and there could actually be a situation where
Kyrie again becomes part of a roster that finds himself
(59:59):
in the end be a finals and actually actually wins.
It's interesting because here's why I say, it's it's almost
zero that that's gonna happen, and we'll see. I hate
my words. I don't care. I've already taken two victory
lapse when they when they constructed the Brooklyn nets two
years ago, I was on the air and I said,
this team will never win anything, and I gave three
(01:00:20):
reasons why. Even if all even if all three Musketeers
were were healthy, they didn't have the depth of the defense. Uh,
you have to go back twenty years to find a
team that didn't win an NBA championship. They didn't have
a top ten defense, and they had two guys named
Kobe and Shack. So without a top ten defense, you're
not winning an NBA championship. Uh, Brooklyn was always around
(01:00:41):
twenty three. Their defenses did not rank high. Secondly, there's
there are depth issues. You couldn't just win with those
three guys. You do need the plumbers and pipe fitters,
you need the rebounders, defenders, you need a team, a
complimentary team around those three guys. But the third thing,
and this turned out to be their death knew, is
the fact that they all missed games. They're they're injured,
(01:01:03):
all of them. And so you know, I don't care
how good you are. If you can't can't suit up,
it doesn't matter much. The reason I'm also doubling down
is you look at the Nets where he's there right now,
best laid plans, his team was supposed to win a championship.
I never believe they would. But the negotiations between Kyrie
and the Nets, they're not only not progressing in a
(01:01:23):
positive manner, they've stagnated and they become acrimonious. There you
have it, he I mean, right there, he's telling you
how he You know, when someone tells you who they are,
believe him. So we'll leave it right there. We've got
to see what happens Wednesday and if Kyrie opts in
or not, and where the dominoes fall from there. The
fact that he's let it go this far just shows
you who he is. He's a crazy maker. Coming up,
(01:01:45):
DeShawn Watson settles on twenty of the four civil lawsuits.
We'll tell you what's coming up this Tuesday and what
this means for the Shaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns.
But first, back to Mons Beloos with the latest Yeah,
how about use of Nurkic of the Portland Trailblazers tweeting
a photo of Damian Lillard and Kevin Durant wearing a
(01:02:10):
Blazer's uniform. He also yeah, he also put a little
green puzzle piece, you know, indicating is this the missing
puzzle to the Blazers If Katie moves again? I can't.
I can't Katie cannot move again? Can he is? He?
I don't know, but quite interesting that nurkicches is kind
(01:02:32):
of playing with this idea. If he ends up in Portland,
I will be of surprised. I just don't know where
he's going to possibly go. But let's move on to
a little bit of baseball, shall we. So much happened,
So much happened last night, But I want to start
with Chris's uh Detroit team. Yeah, the Tigers. They not
only beat the diamond Back six to three, but Riley
Green had an amazing catcher. Riley Queenlier plash ups a
(01:03:02):
cap on the bed of Kennedy. Riley Green flies through
the air with a back in grab and takes extra
faces away. Amazing catch Tigers Radio Network on the call.
While the Rangers walked it off with the solo homer
from Adolis Garcia in the ninth inning, we also had
another walk off by the Rays, actually their second walk
(01:03:23):
off in a row against the Pirates. He's at He
hit a solo homer in the eighth inning and a
two run single with two outs in the ninth sending
Tampa Bay to a six ft victory over the Pirates.
With the Mets, they're just the best in the National League.
Forty seven and twenty six. They beat the Marlins. Peter
Alonso what can he do? Is he m V pete?
I think so? He had two homers in the victory,
(01:03:43):
giving him twenty two for the season, which also leads
the National League. Now, the astros A threw a combined
no hitter against the Yankees. This was the first time
in nineteen years that has happened against the Yankees. It
was the fourteenth no hitter in Astro's history. Down well,
the Phillies, well, they beat the Padres, but wasn't it
Unfortunately for them. Bryce Harper has a broken left thumb.
He was hit by a pitch from Blake Snell, a
(01:04:05):
pitch going nineties seven miles per hour. And this is
what it sounded like actually during the game been hidden.
Oh my goodness, Bryce Harper gets hit up and he's
clutching his hand right now. Harper is in some real
pain and he's screaming right now, and he's yelling at
Blake Snell. And Blake Snell got a few words to
(01:04:28):
say back at Bryce Harper right now. But Harper is
coming off this field. They're gonna do more tests and
see how bad it is, but he is out indefinitely.
Philly's Radio Network on that call back to you, Bernie,
all right, thanks so much, mons and good stuff. All right,
DeShawn Watson, it's about to heat up again this week,
(01:04:48):
and uh, in a minute, I'm gonna get I will
share with you their canal, the chronology of what we'll
start to take place beginning Tuesday, and why we believe
now that by July four, we're gonna know what's gonna
happen with DeShawn. And I'll give you a little clue.
(01:05:08):
But first let's uh, let's set the stage. You may
have heard that this past week, settlements were reached in
twenty the twenty four civil lawsuits that we're involving the
sexual misconduct and assault allegations against DeShawn Watson. These are
reports coming from his attorney, Tony Busby. He's the he's
not Watson's attorney, he's the attorney for the plaintiffs. And
(01:05:31):
so they were just you know, sorting through the paperwork
to get the settlements done. And what's they've done, and
the cases will be dismissed and as as we expected,
the terms and the amounts of the settlements were confidential
and no one's gonna comment on those, and those will
be you know, sealed as it were. But Ashley so Leice,
(01:05:52):
who the who was the first woman to file suit
against Watson, and three others, they're going to continue. And
Tony Buzby, the the attorney for all the women who
are suing the Shawn Watson basically has referred to Ashley
so Leice is one of the heroes of the story
because her case is not settled. So therefore her story
(01:06:16):
and that of the other women who he considers very
brave women, they're going to continue. And unless something changes,
these are headed to court, okay, and these are gonna
be consistent with all the other docket obligations and the
court schedule, and they may not get to court until three.
But unless they settle, that's where they're headed now. Also
(01:06:36):
this last week, Deshaun Watson spoke to the media for
the first time in about ninety days. It was after
a Browns practice, and once again the same old hackneyed
pre program statement quote, I never assaulted, disrespected, or harassed anyone.
I'm not sure what his definition of those terms are,
but something happened regardless, that's his story and he's sticking
(01:06:59):
to it. As you well know, Watson has a fully
guaranteed five year, two thirty million dollar contract after he
was traded from the Texans, and I was pretty veheman
on the show last Saturday night, not saying he listened
to the show. I said, settle, don't be an idiot.
Settle And and obviously this has probably been underway, right,
(01:07:20):
but he's Everything about what Watson has done since coming
to Cleveland has really triggered a lot of people. You
had that clunky press conference and he said a lot
of silly things that I think that we're again pre programmed.
And although he's not facing criminal charges for these accusations.
He still continues to to tell us that he's being
(01:07:44):
wrongly accused. All right now, he still faces a possible
suspension as the NFL, you know, continues it's investigation of
the allegations and and and the reason I bring that
up is because the NFL was quick to state, after
the announcement of these settlements twenty four or that quote,
(01:08:06):
this will have no impact on the collectively bargained disciplinary process.
That was the statement that the NFL made. Watson claims
that he met with the NFL and answered every question truthfully.
All I can do is be honest and tell them
exactly what happened. So what does this mean for Cleveland,
for the Browns fans, the great city of Cleveland, and
the great fans who I think deserve a winner. Well,
(01:08:30):
this past week, Watson was a full participant in their
off season program. The Browns just completed their off season program.
I guess he missed a couple of the days while
he was interviewing with NFL investigators. But until there's full
resolution from the NFL's disciplinary process, it's really it's really,
I mean, the Browns are kind of being held hostage
(01:08:50):
in terms of how they're going to plan. They may
even be in the market of another quarterback. I just
can't see Baker Mayfield being in the mix because that
relationships seems to have sailed. But they also they can't
start Jacoby proci is a good quarterback, but not a
sixteen game seventeen game quarterback. Right. The Browns were hoping
that any ruling on a suspension would have come in June,
(01:09:11):
prior to the July precamp window, and so, and you know,
they are assuming and hoping that that DeShawn Watson is
going to be on the field for at least a
portion of the season. I'm not so sure that's gonna happen.
And I'll get to that in a minute. Regardless, people
have asked me, you know, how does Cleveland really feel
about this? Well, I am I am told. I am
(01:09:33):
told that Their belief is they knew going into this,
this was going to be a mountain to climb, This
is going to be a speed bump to get over,
This is gonna be an obstacle that they had to navigate.
But once it was done, however long it takes, whether
it takes a year from this point six, whatever the
case may be, that the Browns believe when this is
all behind them and they've paid quote unquote there there
(01:09:53):
Deshaun Watson tax, then they've got their franchise quarterback for
the next seven years, and they are willing to pay
that price, and they have no choice. They have to
pay that price. Remember, the NFL completely overhauled his personal
conduct policy in in large part two. You know, there
were multiple league disciplinary decisions from the legal process, and
(01:10:17):
I would say that regardless of what happens in court
or whether these are settled, it's not going to affect
what Roger Goodell and his team do because according to
the personal conduct policy is you know, once you have
engaged in conduct detrimental and and at some point maybe
(01:10:39):
I'll go over the personal conduct policy again, I'm not
gonna do tonight, but it really sort of spells out
right the the behavior you can be engaged in irrespective
of legal issues and find yourself on the wrong side
of the NFL. Now, Uh, the investigators continue to look
at this and they're can by the way, that's going
(01:11:00):
to continue this week. I'm gonna get to that in
a minute. And uh, what will happen is they'll present
their findings to a lady by the name of Sue Robinson.
She's a former federal judge. She was appointed by the
NFL specifically and the NFL Players Association as the disciplinary
officer in this case. Now, I will tell you based
(01:11:22):
some people off talk to, we do expect Sue Robinson
to issue a ruling before the start of training camp,
if not sooner, And if Watson receives a suspension, he
would likely appeal and that appeal would be heard by
Roger Goodell. But I also have heard news subsequent to
that that he's working with the league. So whatever he
(01:11:42):
agrees to that will be negotiated out and there would
not be an appeal. What you see is what you get.
Now coming up, as I mentioned, I want to talk
about what's happening this week specifically, so you can get
a little bit more of an idea about where this
ends up. If you're a Deshaun Watson or Cleveland Browns fan,
(01:12:03):
or both or neither. On Bernie Froddock come to you
Alive from Las Vegas, Fox Sports Radio Studio. Stick and stay.
You're listening to Fox Sports Sunday and Fox Sports Radio.
Right back on Fox Sports Sunday, Fox Sports Radio and
Bernie Freddock coming to you live in the Las Vegas
Fox Sports Radio Studios coming up top of the hour.
What kind of brand new fool are you? Followed by
(01:12:24):
what my name is speaking of? Nowhere to run, Nowhere
to Hide? Well, I think Deshaun Watson might fall into
that category. As we come to find out now, the
NFL is seeking an indefinite suspension of Deshaun Watson starting
with at least one year. I had a I had
a real strong belief that once Trevor Bauer got what
(01:12:45):
he got then that was going to force the NFL's hand.
And they don't want to be put in a position
where they're seen as cavalier, uh towards women's rights, etcetera, etcetera.
So you know, maybe Deshaun Watson will get three four games,
to which I guess that way put him back. I'd
be able to go a week fivee for you fantasy fans.
But I digress. This is what we do know that Tuesday,
(01:13:08):
Deshaun Watson will meet with Sue Robinson and that will
be the first of their meetings, and I don't know
how long they will meet for, but she's going to
be the one making the decision former federal judge appointed
by the NFL and the players Association to make this decision. Now,
what is happening here. The league is pushing for it
(01:13:29):
into that an indefinite suspension that would last no shorter
than one year. And now the NFL Players Association has
a duty under federal law to defend Watson and all
members of the union. They'll fight it, right, There's no question.
One of the tacks will take is they argue that
the proposed punishment does not mesh with the discipline or
(01:13:49):
or lack thereof for multiple owners who have actually also
run a file of the personal conduct policy. But that's
to me not that's to me a false equivalency. Okay.
By pushing for an indefinite suspension, the league would be
protected against any possibility that more women will sue Watson
between now in the middle of March, when all relevant
(01:14:11):
to your statutes of these there's a statue limitations okay,
of these alleged acts that Watson committed, and that I
believe that statute limitations expires, which means that if they
haven't filed suit by March of that statute limitations expires,
and they will no longer be able to file suit,
(01:14:32):
assuming that Watson cease the practices of securing private massages
through social media after the first lawsuit was filed in
March of one. But the League is going to make
a pretty strong case for this lengthy suspension. They're gonna
focus on five of the women who have sued Watson
in those cases have been corroborated from text messages and
other evidence, and and League officials believe those allegations in
(01:14:56):
particular are very provocative, They're very prou movable. They established
a clear pattern, a very disturbing pattern of behavior from Watson.
And there have been multiple reports that have basically talked
about this, and one of as part of the reports,
this hearing before Judge Sue Robinson. Market calendar Tuesday, Jun Okay,
(01:15:19):
that's this Tuesday. The fund starts. Now, we don't know
how long the process is gonna take. Nobody does. There'll
be an effort by the Players Association to defend Watson.
I get it, and defend those consequences, and uh, you know,
Watson does have the right to argue that its punishments
to be commenced with other cases. You know what Ray
(01:15:39):
Rice got you know what been you know, Ezekiel Elliott got,
you know, at Ben Roethlisberger got. We're in different times now, though,
and I don't I don't think the NFL is gonna
be playing around here along the way. I suppose the
nflp could uncover some evidence, uh, you know, having to
do with you know, the Washington Commanders and Daniel Snyder
(01:15:59):
and whether not Snyder's punishment properly fit his misconduct and
that type of thing. But that's like when you know,
when you're in the third grade and you say, well,
you know, you're telling on your tattle, taling on your
on your classmate. There. Um, this is interesting. Uh, this
I'm going to pay a lot of attention to do.
You know, I cover the NFL for many years, part
(01:16:20):
of the Detroit Lions pre and post game shows between
ninety eight and two thousand eight. What's interesting about this
is lots of things are interesting. The fact that you know,
he was sued by twenty four women allegedly you know,
seeked out sixty six massagies, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. But Watson's
(01:16:40):
case is the first case under the NFL's new collectively
Bargained Personal conduct policy, and this place is the initial
ruling in the hands of this arbitrator, Sue Robinson, who
was picked mutually by the league and the union. Okay,
but this is the first case of this nature under
the new policy that the league established, and as Sue
(01:17:00):
Robinson determines that Watson violated the league's personal conduct policy
and suspends him. Now, either side can appeal the link
to that suspension to Commissioner Roger Goodell or someone he designates,
although Goodell, I think here's most appeals. Now. The truth
of the matter is, I think that they're in a
negotiation right now. This is a guess Watson, and they'll
(01:17:24):
do their due diligence. The League Tuesday and Sue Robinson
will have their meeting. But my feeling is because Watson
is now cooperating, because he settled these cases, I think
that mitigates his situation a little bit. Not that doesn't
mean to imply he's gonna get less than a year.
I just mean means it provides an impression to the
(01:17:45):
NFL and the powers to be that perhaps he's going
to be a little more contrite about his actions, and
therefore they can have fruitful conversations and say all right,
you know we're gonna suspend a year. You can't you
know that you got to accept this. He'll say, okay,
I won't appeal it. Or they could say we're gonna
spend you, you know, through week eight and he can
(01:18:07):
appeal that and good luck. Or he can say, all right,
I'll take the lesser deal now, even though I don't
like it, but we both agree on it, and we
both know what we're dealing with, and you sort of
bring you know, some finality to this as it were, right.
But I think the NFL wants it indefinite suspension because
that would also give them the flexibility to keep him
out for longer based on another variety of factors, whether
(01:18:28):
are which I think the most concerning thing is whether
or not more cases surface. And there's no question that
the NFL believes that should institute what is the strictest
discipline it can assess based on its investigation, which is
now taking the better part of a year. And I
believe the breadth of the allegations against Watson, and some
(01:18:48):
of the accusations that the NFL officiates have included are
are pretty damning. This is this is not lightweight stuff here,
there's a broadway array of accusations against Watson. In addition
into the twenty four lawsuits, there have been other women
who have accused him of wrong doing without taking civil
action and if but officials of zero in on five
are the victims whose cases they believe have the strong,
(01:19:11):
strongest evidence, and those include, okay, all kinds of corroborations
such as text messages, email, all that kind of stuff
that you know provides proof. So Tuesday, the picture starts
to come clear a little bit for Deshaun Watson and
the Cleveland Browns. Keep it locked because we're gonna want
to know where this is gonna go. All right up next,
(01:19:33):
you can't wait? What kind of brand new fool are you?
Keep it locked? The Fox Sports Sunday train keeps rolling
right along. I'm Bernie Fratto Company live for the Las
Vegas Fox Sports Radio Studios. Three down, one to go.
A little later in the show, I'll give a few
NBA Draft first round grades. Why not part of our contract.
(01:19:55):
And at the end of this year, I'm gonna tell
you about a guy who opted out for the draft
but ended up making more money doing so. And that's
the world We're living In course, we've got Chris's World
of Soccer at the bottom of the hour after Moncy's update,
much much more, but first this time every week, you
know it, you love it, you can't live without it.
The dance sensations sweeping the nation, and we affectionately call it.
(01:20:16):
What kind of brand new fool are you? What kind
of brand new that's right? What kind of brand new
fool you? You see? Every week in this great land
of ours, from seed to Oily Sea, in America and
even around the world, people do things that are so
(01:20:36):
foolish and so crazy that we have to highlight them,
and something we love only call what kind of brand
new fool are you? So let me start and meet
Dennis Raider. You've probably never heard of Dennis Raider, and
that could be a good thing. Nana said. It's finally
time for him to work through some of his many
personal issues, like, you know, being a serial killer. Dennis
(01:21:00):
is actually housed at the Eldorado Correctional Facility, but he
said Tuesday that quote he's ready to start dating again.
I'll quote him though I haven't been the best partner partner,
do you think, or even the best person in the past.
I've done a lot of self reflection over the past
few years, and I think it's finally time for me
to get back out there now. Raider, in case you
(01:21:22):
didn't know this, used the pseudon him. He was known
as the B T K Killer, which stood for buying,
torture and kill when he murdered ten people in the
seventies and eighties, adding now, while he made a lot
of mistakes in his younger days, that's all behind him.
Now he's hopefully can still find the one. Am I
the one to blame for my relationship failures? Dennis said, yes,
(01:21:44):
but you know it takes two to tango, and there's
no sense playing fingers. Yeah, our knives are guns, I
guess from that matter, better let bygones be bygones and
open myself up to new possibilities. Here's the part you'll
find touching, Dennis admitted, Am I afraid of getting hurt?
A little bit? Sure, But I'm a hopeless romanic who
loves the chase, and I'm ready to let myself be
(01:22:04):
a part of someone's life again. Rader went on to
say it wasn't worried about finding someone who shared his kinks,
noting that he'd never let us stop him in the past.
Isn't that so wonderful? And if you date this guy,
what kind of brand new fool you? I got one
bit of advice for you. You better block his ASSU
tumbler now, Manlans, you're up next. All right, listen. I
(01:22:26):
don't know what kids are doing these days, but this
is not the way to ask someone to prom. This
happened in Palmdell, California. I guess last week a teenage
girl named Stephanie, that's all we know, asked her boyfriend
to prom by getting him arrested. Uh so, yeah, So
(01:22:47):
he was arrested by a sheriff deputy in front of
all of his friends, and when he got to the car,
there was a sign that said, dave On, can I
cuff you at prom? And that's how she asked him
to prom. I don't know why anyone would do something
like that. That is not how you ask someone to prom.
And I guess some people really criticized her for doing
(01:23:08):
the stunt, but she said that I know that he
loved it, and I guess he said yes, No, no,
absolute fools, both of you should break up. Nope, nope, nope, wowed, arrested,
the left handcuffed. None, the left handcuffed, handcuffed to the
car in front of his friends. They got a cop
(01:23:29):
to agree, would agree to do that? I don't and
why would you? Exactly exactly, So everyone's a fool involved
in this story, even the cops. Was your alcohol involved? No,
it doesn't say that. No Jesus all right, Well that's
why we call this segment. What kind of brand new
fool are you? Christoper Fette? You're up well, Bernie. Seems
love is the theme tonight because we take you over
(01:23:51):
to the world of not not quite from TikTok. TikTok
is just happens to be how I found this particular
woman Um. Love is found in the strangers of places,
including a fence. UH. Woman by the name of Erica
Labrave recently starred in a documentary. I believe the doctor
in memory's name was Strange obsession. Either way, people found
(01:24:13):
this um. She made headlines first by became very famous
because she married the Eiffel Tower UM, but doesn't stop there.
She is apparently what is called a objectim sexual, which
is a person who can be romantically and sexually attracted
to inanimate objects now. In this viral tech top clip,
(01:24:33):
uh Erica is seen caressing and admiring, caressing, and eventually
straddling a red wooden fence. UM. She says that the
fence is basically perfect for her. Um. Fences are such
dangerous objects for me because they are so perfect in
their geometry. Claims that the fence is sweet and I
(01:24:54):
am definitely physically attracted this fence and I would like
to get to know this fence better. I've got nothing
else on this, Bernie. Um, this is very foolish. I'm
all about people finding their kink. This is uh, this
is a little too far out there for me. Was
it a picket fence? I got to know, man, Yes
it was. It was a picket fence. We've got a
(01:25:19):
serial killer, we've got an arresting officer handcuffing, and we've
got a nice young lady in a red picket fence.
Brandon Trufa. No pressure at all, man, Can you top that? Yeah?
This one's not about love us. But this one comes
from the from a from a small pub called the
Goat Island Lodge in the middle of the Adelai River
(01:25:42):
in Australia. So the owner who goes by King Kai.
His name is Kai Hansen. His nickname is King King Kai.
He opened up the remote lodge and actually keeps a
moat around it filled with crocodiles. One of them, particularly
in particular, UH is named Casey, and it's his pet.
(01:26:04):
And and actually in two thousand and eighteen he had
one of his dogs was eaten by one of these cars,
one of these crocodiles. Hanson told UH, the outlet my
kingdom has the only croc infested moat all around it. Well,
a couple of days ago, one of these crocs got
a little too uh, a little too crazy, and he
(01:26:25):
was forced to fend off a crocodile with a frying pan, uh,
which he cooked food with later on in the day. So,
I I don't know what kind of fool keeps a
moat around there their pub. I mean, this isn't the
Middle Ages. I mean, this isn't the medieval times anymore. So, yeah,
(01:26:46):
what a foolish, foolish thing to do. All right, you
guys are coming sick with it tonight. Everybody. This was
like our best one ever. Everybody came with some really
good ones. Man. This is uh, this is craziness. All right,
there you have it, another rising addition of what kin
a brand new fool? Are you tough to top? All right? Well, that,
(01:27:07):
of course leads us to our other favorite feature that
the nation waits patiently for every week, and it's something
we also call very lovingly. What my name? There? You
go right on Q. All right, so you know what.
The Knicks are a popular topic on these airways, especially
(01:27:29):
if you listen to Jason Smith and Mike Harmon week
nights from seven pm to eleven pm. I know, Monster,
you've worked a lot on that show. All right, so
let's start there. This will speak to the Knicks futility.
Forgive me, Jason. I am the last New York Nick
to make an NBA All Star team, and that was
(01:27:50):
clear back in two thousand one, Monster Bolanos, what my name?
Two one? Um? Nick? That's that's a good one, not
an easy one, right, Okay, I'm the last New York
Nick to make an NBA All Star team, And yeah,
it was clear back in two thousand one. Chris Perfette,
(01:28:11):
what my name? Um? Stuff on Marbury, Let's go with
the starbust. That's not a bad that's not a bad guy.
Unfortunately not the right one, but still not a bad guess.
All right. On the last New York Nick to actually
make an NBA All Star team, and it happened clear
back in two thousand one, Brandon Truffa. What my name? Um,
I'm gonna go with Latrell Sprewella. Not not a bad guest. Uh,
(01:28:38):
it's actually Alan Houston, Alan Houston, former Piston, Alan Houston.
I'm sure you remember Alan Houston Chris in the mid
nineties with the Piston in those sucky uniforms when they
changed for a couple of years. Okay, this one just
happened recently, So let's see who's on the ball here.
I'm the only goalie in NHL history to assist on
(01:28:59):
an overtime time goal and the Stanley Cup playoffs, Mons
Blane's what my name? Andre Vasileski? Good guests? Close. Damn
that was a good guess. Okay, I'm the only goalie
to assist on an overtime goal in the NHL Stanley
Cup playoffs. Because prefet what my name? Let's go with
(01:29:20):
Sergei Bobrovskirovsky, It's nicely done. Yeah, I had I had
a Bobrovski for dinner. Tonight with the locker beer. All right, close,
but no cigar. I'm the only goalie to assist on
an overtime goal in the Stanley Cup NHL playoffs. Randon Trufa,
(01:29:40):
What my name? This was? In Game four? Darcy kemper
to damn exactly you you're you were, you were right
on track, just right. I just wanted to say, Bobrovski,
honor of former f S one j On Right, the
man who made Provski famous. I think it's outstanding. I
(01:30:02):
think it's we know how to have fun here. Picket fences,
police arrest moats with frying pans, hitting alligators over the head,
cook in the pan later. And let's not forget serial killers.
You can find him on in case you missed it,
his name is Dennis Raider. You can find him on tumbler.
I'm sure have fun with that one, all right, all right.
We just had an NBA draft, Okay, now, the Duke
(01:30:26):
Blue Devils. Paula ban Carroll was drafted number one overall.
And in the history of Duke basketball, there's actually been
five players now that we're drafted number one overall from
the University of Duke. Okay, I was drafted number one
overall back in two thousand and eleven. Monty Belan's what
my name? Two's on Zion Williamson. He was probably ceas
(01:30:55):
all good. But you see you're coming with it now. Okay,
all right. I was drafted number one overall back in
two thousand eleven. Christoph Fett went my name? Oh, um, nope, no,
I just lost track of time. I'm trying to remember.
This is not an easy game, folks, Just not for
(01:31:17):
the faint of heart here, Okay, all right. I was
drafted number one overall in the NBA draft back in
two thousand eleven. Brandon Truth of what my name? Julil
Local four? Oh good, good boy, you guys are coming
up with some excellent names. You're all going to kick
yourself when you hear this. You remember was Duke the
hook was Duke Kyrie Irving, Kyrie Irving. Okay, let's have
(01:31:41):
one more. This one should be an easy one. Somebody's
going to get this one. I was the first player
picked overall in the NBA draft back in two thousand three.
Mont Belan is what my name? Two thousand and three? Um,
Kevin Garnett, Kevin Garnett. He was back around nine, I think, okay,
all good? Actually no, no, he was actually saw Hi
(01:32:04):
playing high school game at fair Aget High School, Chicago.
But I digress. Okay, I'm the first overall draft pick
in the NBA two thousand three, christ per Fete, what
my name? Yes, sir? Are you guys did a good job,
really really good stuff on the on the what kind
of brand new? What kind of brand new? Fool? Am I?
(01:32:25):
And are you? And uh? And and what my name? So?
Excellent work, folks, All right, coming up? What the hell?
You know? You have to do it whether people like
it or not. And they do like it. Let's give
out a few draft pick grades because the draft yether night,
Doug Gottlieb called it the best draft he's scene in
quite a while, and he would know, so I would say,
this is a situation where you've got star power going
(01:32:48):
to teams that fit them right away. I'm gonna give
out some really good draft grades here because they deserve it.
I'm Bernie Fraddock Company Alive in Las Vegas, Fox Sports
Radio Studios. Keep it locked right here. You're listening to
Fox Sports Sunday in Fox Sports Radio. All right back
on Fox Sports Sunday, Fox Sports Radio and Bernie Fratto
come to you alive from the Las Vegas Fox Sports
(01:33:08):
Radio studios. We're about forty eight hours removed from the
NBA Draft Thursday night. He was a good one and
in the top ten. Just about everybody came away with
a player that steps on the floor and helps them
year one, not the least of which by surprising everybody.
Orlando pick Paulo Band Carrol out of Duke. Who's NBA
(01:33:30):
ready right now? I've talked to people who would have
rather had Chet holing Room, and of course people like
well wild I guess that thought it was gonna be
Jabari Smith. But regardless, you can't see you took Paula
Bank Carroll and it went wrong. Impossible. He's gonna be
a very impactful player right from the jump. Right now,
he's the favorite to win the Rookie of the Year
(01:33:52):
and it's a sensible pick. It's a bit little surprising,
but this is a guy who's a big, strong, skilled
forward and he'll be a very He'll be a tremendous
building block in Orlando. And if you ever heard him talk,
he's really got his head on his shoulders. Eight I
give Orlando a solid A chat. Homegroun goes number two
to Oklahoma City. I realized there are some concerns about
(01:34:14):
homegren slight frame, but as a unique prospect, and he's
got a tremendous amount of potential. Right, he's a seven
ft he's seven feet, but he's got guard skills. But
he's also a rim protector. He can dribble like a guard.
He can reliably make three pointers. He has the highest
here's the thing, He's probably got the highest ceiling in
the draft. And for that reason, he's gonna be a
(01:34:34):
great asset to Oklahoma City. Again, I give him an
a how do you not? Of course, Jabari Smith going
to the Houston Rockets third out of Auburn went an
athlete right. For much of the draft process, I I
see everybody said that Smith, who was assumed to be
the number one overall pick. But when you got three
high level big man prospects, look when the first to go,
(01:34:54):
it was an obvious easy decision for Houston when he
slipped a third overall. Now, part of the issue here
is he's not a finished near near the finished product
like Paula ban Caro. Is He's gonna need to develop
in multiple, you know, facets of his game. But he's
already a very good shooter, if not a great shooter,
He's a switchable defender. He plays with a ton of energy,
and you pair him up with Jalen Green and Houston,
(01:35:17):
he's gonna fit very nicely. Again, I give them an A. Now,
this may be the only B I give in the
whole first round, because when the Sacramento Kings picked uh,
Keegan Murray out of I who was a terrific player.
By the way, don't get me wrong, It's just that
I would have rather had If I'm sacrament I would
have rather had Jaden Ivy. But apparently Jake and Ivy
(01:35:38):
made it very clear he did not want to be
in Sacramento. So I guess you really can't blame the
King's Now that is maybe not enough to not taking him,
But I guess why I want somebody take somebody who
doesn't want to be there. If you watch Keegan Murray
play at IOA this year, he was tremendous and I
would say you could he was one of the top
(01:35:58):
two or three players in the country period. Let's get
to the Pistons. Jade and Ivy. I watched him play
a lot at Perdue. This guy is an explosive athlete.
He's big, he can attack the rim and a variety
of ways. I wouldn't say he's John Morant type athletic,
but I'm telling you I saw d Wade coming out
of college twenty years ago. I saw him his first
(01:36:19):
couple of years with Miami before he came into his
own Jade and Ivy reminds me of a of a
younger d Wade. Now there's some questions about whether he
can be a point guard in the NBA, but you've
got them paired up with Kate cuming him and pits
in uh uh Detroit, and Kate Cunningham is a natural
distributor of the ball. This is an a plus for
the Pistons, no two ways about it. Now, another stud,
(01:36:42):
the shooting guard Benedict Mathurnon out of Arizona, Indiana, got
themselves a nice one. They're right. This is a guy
who's been a projected lottery pick all along, and he
is the type of guy he's you know, he's an
athletic wing and this man's NBA at six ft six,
he can do all the things you look four and
the way that the NBA game has played Circao and
(01:37:04):
he should fit in nicely with Indiana. Again, I give
him another A. Now, Shaden Sharpott of Kentucky went to Portland,
and I would say that this is pick is interesting
because with the Jeremy Grant trade that the you know,
I would just say Sharp is an interesting fit because
he has a very high ceiling, and he's very explosive scorer,
(01:37:26):
and he's got great size for the position he's gonna play.
Here's the issue. I'm not so sure he's ready to
start in the NBA Day one he's gonna play. Remember
he didn't play last season in Kentucky. So I give
them a B plus. You're drafting there on potential and
he has a lot of it. The Laker that the
New Orleans Pelicans, they ended up getting the eighth pick
(01:37:49):
overall they traded from the Lakers, they got a kid
named Dyson Daniels out of the G League. But here's
here's again, here's a here's the situation with a guy
who's got all this fascinating potent child, he's got sized,
he can play with her without the ball. He's not
a great jump shooter, but this is something you could
learn and if the Pelicans can teach him that, um
(01:38:10):
and the Pelicans are close to being a legitimate contender
as long as Zion Williamson comes back and plays healthy.
This is why this draft pick is so great because, uh,
Dyson Daniels will fit nicely into the core and he's
a really super good perimeter defender, no doubt about that. Uh.
(01:38:30):
San Antonio Spurs took a guy by the name of
Jeremy Socane out of Baylor. Now, this guy is an
interesting guy because he was a really highly regarded, super
super highly regarded high school recruit and he became a
(01:38:51):
one and done top twenty pick after just one year
at at Baylor. And Baylor they were not the team
they were in. They weren't they weren't going to, you know,
repeat again or get to the Final four or anything
like that, but they were very good. And and the
key with Silken as he can play multiple guard positions
(01:39:12):
and he has great potential as a shooter and again
he's very versatile. Again, it's a situation where he's he's
got potential, you're drafting the potential, but the fact that
the Spurs are taking him, see that says something because
the Spurs will often find and be able to look
deep into a player and look deep into their potential
(01:39:35):
and what they can be, and they develop those guys. Right,
And if you just go back over the years, as
long as Greg Popovich is still there and that system
is still there and that culture is still there, this
is a guy that could really develop. And you've seen
the Spurs do this with players over the years. I mean,
Tim Duncan was four years at did Wake Forrest and
(01:39:57):
he's a Hall of Famer and he was developed once
he got into pros and I think you'll see him
developed the Washington Wizards. I really like Johnny Davis. When
he was with Wisconsin. He went from really kind of
this anonymous player who have to be playing at a
big time school at Wisconsin too, a candidate for National
(01:40:17):
Player of the Year by the time he was a sophomore.
Now he had a little bit of a slip at
the end of the season. And again part of the
reason these grades I'm gonna give Washington and age because
when you pair Johnny Davis along with a guy named
Bradley Beale, if those two are healthy and those two
stay on the court, a lot and they both get
(01:40:40):
you know, play seventy five games all of a sudden,
you got yourself a situation where Washington starts to win
right away. They were competitive last year. They just cannot
play four quarters with teams. But of all the players,
I'm most looking forward to watching of a curiosity standpoint,
because we saw him here in Vegas multiple times. His
chet Holgren out of Gonzaga. Do not be fooled by
(01:41:02):
his you know, baby face and his skinny body. He's
got a chip on his shoulder. He plays hard, he defends,
he's not gonna have to be stuck in the low post.
But he is a rim He's a rim protector. He's
a shop locker. He's not afraid indiep But he can
play the wing. He can dribble like a guard, and
he can shoot threes. And I'm very interesting to see
how he pans out in the NBA. Coming up Chris
(01:41:26):
Parfet's World of Soccer. Yes, it is a World Cup year.
Always plenty of things in the news, and Chris will
have those. But first go back to mont Blannels with
the latest. Well, let's go back to an NBA draft
pick number six, Ben Mathroin I think it's how he
says that night, Benedict, did you see what he told
the Washington Post about Ron James. This is the quote
(01:41:48):
A lot of people say he's great. I want to
see how great he is. I don't think anybody is
better than me. He's gonna have to show me he's
better than me and quote this guy already cooking, She's
going to be okay. I think so. I can't believe
that that. I mean, you do you if you feel that?
If you? I wonder if he's just trying to stir
(01:42:10):
a little bit and make Lebron maybe, you know, pay
attention to him. Who knows. But I cannot believe he
said that. Now TMZ reports that they ran into Matt Barnes,
and Matt Barnes is saying that if Kyrie goes to
the Lakers, they're gonna win their eighteen title. That is
what Matt Barnes told at TNZ at l a X.
But let's move on to a little bit of baseball
(01:42:30):
that happened last night. Like the Phillies, they beat the Padres,
but unfortunately for them, Bryce Harper has a broken left thumb.
He is now going to be on the injured list
for who knows how long they need to do further tests,
but he was hit by a nineties seven mile pour
fastball from Blake Snell. He was complaining, yelling. He seemed
like he was in a lot of pain. The Astros
they threw a combine no hitter against the Yankees. Uh.
(01:42:52):
They're the team that has done it twice to the
Yankees in the last fifty years. The last time they
did it was like nineteen years ago. They shut them
down three to zero. It was a fourteenth hitter in
Astro's history. While the Mets, they're just the best in
the National League at forty seven and twenty six. Pete
Alonso m v P I think is what they were
chanting two homers in the victory, giving him twenty two
for this season, and he leaves the National League with
(01:43:14):
twenty two homers. The Mariners beat the Angels. Angels continue
to struggle but show Heyo Tani hit a four hundred
and sixty two ft homer in the loss. That was
the sixteenth homer for him of the season. The Rays
walked it off for a second night in a row
to beat the Pirates. East Feriz hit a solo homer
in the eighth inning and a two run single with
two outs in the ninth to get that victory, while
the Cardinals they scored two in the eighth inning to
(01:43:36):
beat the Cubs, and the Dodgers lost to the Braves.
An emotional night two nights ago for Freddie Freeman, but
that was enough for the Braves to come back and
say nope as they beat them five to three. Marcelo
Zuna hit a two run homer in the eighth inning
to beat the Dodgers. Back to you, Bernie, It's been
funn great job tonight. Energy all right. At this time
(01:43:56):
every week, Chris Perfett, he reveals us with his World
to Seller. Interesting topic this week because over the years,
the MLS has sort of been where guys come over
to squeeze at last bit out that they have. I
think play came over and paid when he was eighty
one years old, and I just came. But I love
guys like lot on. But the question is, in Christal Lanstrade,
can the MLS actually become a league where it's a
(01:44:17):
destination for upcoming soccer talent. Chris Perfette with the World
of Soccer, I don't know about upcoming soccer talent, Bernie.
But it's definitely been one that has in this week
attracted soccer talent that I even say is not not
quite in their prime, but still a player who we
thought could go anywhere in UEFA is suddenly heading state side.
And that is and we talked about him before on
(01:44:39):
this segment. Welsh player Gareth Bale. He is leaving liver
he is leaving Liverpool and he is come. I mean,
I'm sorry, not Liverpool. Um, I'm in Real Madrid. I'm sorry, okay, alright, resets.
Gareth Bale is leaving Real Madrid. Yes, that Real Madrid,
and he had plenty of offers a quarter cross you
(01:45:00):
WAFA across Europe and he's coming to l A f C.
Now this is on the heels of Georgio Chiolini, the
famous Italian player, also leaving Italy to come to l
A f C. Now, chillan, he's on the older side.
He's thirty seven. Gareth Bale, though, is in his early thirties,
thirty two. And this is very fascinating because I believe
(01:45:21):
a couple of years ago Gareth Bale had praised MLS
and said that America could be a destination for much
top tier soccer talent, and he is buying his own words,
he is coming state side to l A f C.
This is a very fascinating move for a lot of reasons.
Jokes are out there. Obviously, Gareth bel loves golf and
there's plenty of courses around l A for him. But
(01:45:44):
at the same time, it also puts l A f
C in the spotlight. This has been you know, LA
has shown themselves MLS to be one of the big
players out there when it comes to spending for this
kind of talent. I think Bale's arrival does probably signal
the departure of they're very talented Mexican striker Carlos Vela,
but it it is a It is a fascinating move
(01:46:08):
for a lot of reasons. Bernie, I believe that well,
going where where does uh? Where's l A f C
play their home games? That would be at I think
it's it's right next to the coliseum. I forget who
the sponsor is on the stadium. But here here's why
I ask, because uh, you might be able to see
him play in person. In two weeks they play the
(01:46:29):
l A Galaxy at home. You can go to that game. Yes,
so he's going there on a free transfer. L a
f C stadium. I believe it's called Bank of California
right now, is it? And I've I've been there before.
It is literally right next to the door. It's the
Memorial Coliseum. This is big time, dude. This guy was
(01:46:49):
part of five Champions League winning winning teams, right, that's
big time. He scored, he scored a hunter goals. This
guy's gonna Hammond Egger. I mean, this is he's worth
the press of good mission. Sorry, I mean I'm in
VELAs a win or two, like I'm I'm I'm all
kind of mixed up in my notes this morning. Um it,
it is huge, Bernie, because it does signal exactly what
you know. It's one thing to praise MLS, It's one.
(01:47:11):
It's another thing to walk that walk. And I think
in recent years MLS has proven that they are trying
to be bigger about it. And I think the well,
the next big shoe, Bernie will be coming in a
few years because there has been an agreement. Ay, we're
talking a nine digit move that is reported back in
May that Lionel Messi, Yes, that Lionel Messi could will
(01:47:33):
reportedly join into Miami in three after his contract is
done with Paris Saint Germain, and he will acquire a
thirty five percent steak in that club into Miami. No
stranger to former players, right, we're talking about this is
the club that David Beckham spearhead, spearheaded when he came
over here. To get Lionel Messi, even on the end
(01:47:54):
of his career, would be huge for Inter Miami. Suddenly,
the MLS is now making big, big time splashes. They
this is this is big for America for a lot
of reasons. I have a lot of problems with MLS.
I don't like the structure of their play I don't
like how there's no promotion relegation. I even have quibbles
with their playoffs structure sometimes. But there's no denying that
(01:48:15):
they want to be a force alongside you WAF. It
is a it has been a sport that has been
really growing here in the United States and for America.
As we have seen with you know, the US men's team,
a lot of the top talent goes over to Europe,
but they still rely on a lot of MLS talent
to fill out that roster. Besides bull of sech. They
they need guys from MLS and the better, the better
(01:48:37):
competition that happens in MLS like this is. I mean,
this has been something that's been building for a while.
It's just that it's just that you watch MLS versus
any u WAFA game and you're gonna be kind of
like shaking your head a little bit at the quality
of play. But if they can change. It's a week
from Friday July AFC A galaxy and traffic that is
(01:49:00):
called El traffico here in l A by the way,
for what it's worth, Garrett, okay, Garett Bill should play
it well, should play in that game. There's no reason
why he shouldn't because they met the deadline before July seven.
Here's what I'm going with this. Bail is still set
to represent Wales at the World Cup in November. And
who Wales open up against the U s U S
Calast team. Yep, there, that's exactly Bail is. Bail is
(01:49:22):
the lynchpin to that Welsh team. He is fantastic and
I think any American you want to get a good
a good preview of what Bail can do, you go
and watch the l traffic. Oh it is a. It's a.
I've been to one of those games before, Bernie. It's fantastic.
Galaxy is the older team here in it from in
l A, from MLS, but l A f C has
absolutely captured that fire since their inception. They wear black
(01:49:46):
and gold, they captured they play right next to the coliseum.
They capture the imagination of l A perfectly. So it's
it's it's a wonderful kind of little brother big brother
in a very mixed up way. I love the rivalry. Um,
it's it's just a fascinating time right now. So next week,
I believe on the July one, the transfer window opens
(01:50:07):
for the rest of you. Waifa now right now, Premier
League's transfer window is open, which is why you've seen
some of the news coming out here like mone moving
to other places. But yeah, very soon we should have
plenty of transfer news and there's just a lot coming
down the pike. But Gareth Bale kind of kicks things
off and changes the dynamic across the pond, as they
(01:50:30):
would say, alright, good stuff, Chris, you and ange illegal
and soccer fans, you gotta get out to the yard
at the pitch on July eight because This is a
big time This is not small potatoes. This is the
kind of thing that can help really boost the popularity
of US soccer. Look, I enjoy soccer. My daughter played
at un l V and a soccer scholarship. She was
(01:50:51):
in all all state in high school in Michigan. She
had multiple offers and I learned the game by watching
her play it. And and Mike Harmon's daughters play soccer,
and the I think Jason's do as well. So look,
star power like this is what America wants. That's the
reason soccer has never truly caught on. People need their identity.
They need to know who's playing with the significance is
(01:51:12):
and the star power. That's what drives Americans. This can
go a long way in doing that. I actually that
game will be a right week from Friday, l A
f C l A Galaxy. You get a chance to
see Gareth Bale, who will coincidentally will still play for
his home country Whales in the World Cup and they
open up against the United States in World Cup November one.
All right, coming up, we wrap up the show. I'm
(01:51:32):
gonna tell you about a college basketball player who could
have entered the NBA draft instead, he decided to stay
home in school and earn a cool half million dollars.
That's plus the final thoughts on Game six Colorado Avalanche
Tampa Bay Layton and keep it locked Right here, I'm
Bernie Fradder Company live for the Las Vegas Fox Sports

(01:51:53):
Sports Radio. Now we're back on Fox Sports Sunday, Fox
Sports Radio, Bernie Fradder Company live from the Las Vegas
Fox Sports Radio Studio. Far I go any further. I
want to thank my broadcast team turning all the dials,
keeping us flew together from back on our Los Angeles compound.
Of course, mons beloos on the update, it's Christopher Fette
and Brandon Truffa and uh and uh. Danny Gradio was
(01:52:17):
with us from eleven pm Pacific to midnight. Great teamwork.
Could not do the show without you, all right. Uh.
If you watched the March Madness Tournament last year, you
saw North Carolina make their run to the finals and
one of the guys whose stock really increased during that
tournament Rose was got by the name of Armando Baycott,
(01:52:40):
and there was questions as to whether or not he
would have entered the NBA draft, or would he would
have been draft or he would have been drafted, but
instead he stayed in school. And he's about half a
million dollars richer forest. Now, this is a classic case
of n i L working perfectly at college. Basketball can
be about education, it can be about basketball, it can
(01:53:01):
be about making a little bit of money. They're going
three for three. You're not gonna leave what this guy's done.
And again, his draft stock did spike during the tournament.
And he is a business major, and he studied the
n i L bubble, and he believed that staying in
school for him would be a no brander And here's why.
Starting March one and through last week, in the months
(01:53:22):
since leading North Carolina to the National Championship Game, he
made big hot made twenty one thousand dollars selling T
shirts capitalizing on his name, image and likeness. Okay, then
he got an endorsement deal which he signed with the
company called Jimmy's Famous Seafood and that's worth five figures.
(01:53:42):
Since then, he's also signed with the thoroughbred farm in
Kentucky called Town and Country Farms, and a technology consulting
f him called cap Tech. In addition to a card
deal with Tops Plus, he does promotional work for a
social services charity called me Fi and Uh. He even
(01:54:02):
got a paid acting role on a Netflix show called
Outer Banks and get this. You're you're familiar with cameo?
All right? Maybe you sent one of your friends of
a birthday wish or something on cameo. Baycott has delivered
more than a hundred videos through cameo. He charges for
individuals and three fifty dollars for businesses. And get this,
(01:54:27):
Bacott has a hamburger named after him as part of
an endorsement deal with a restaurant called town Hall Burger
and Beer in Chapel Hill, where North Carolina is University
of North Carolina, although he says in an interview he
couldn't remember the exact topics, which is a bit of
an embarrassment because he's the one that came up with it.
(01:54:47):
But at the end of the day, his mother, who
is a real estate broker, UH, would have encouraged him
to go pro had n I L not existed. She
believed he believed he was ready physically and mentally, and
he still would have been able to figure out a
way to find time to finish his degree because North
(01:55:08):
Carolina has a very prestigious business school. But see with
n I L. Armando by Kott said that staying in
school was a no brainer because not only does he
have a chance to get better again next year with
one more year in or his belt, he's gonna finish
his degree next year. He used to hang around all
his buddies and still make all this money. So a
(01:55:31):
lot of the time the n I L conversation feels
like an argument between whether or not it's right for
the student and tread for the school is going in
the right direction. You heard Jim Harball grassing about it
this last week. But this this was a happy ending.
Not a rusty, hard and happy ending, but a happy ending,
you know, about getting an education, getting paid playing basketball.
(01:55:52):
He went three for three. Huge success for bay Kott,
who stays in school one more year at North Carolina
and he's gonna earn a cool half a million. Bravo
all right. Game six of the Colorado Avalanche and the
Tampa Bay Lightning. This was the Stanley Cup Final that
everybody wanted. This is going to be a very interesting
(01:56:17):
game psychologically. Sunday Night, Emily Arena. Why the Colorado Avs
had a chance to win the Cup on home ice
Friday night, but they found themselves playing from behind again
and they were not able to put away a team
that frankly was very tired, very injured, very warm down.
(01:56:39):
I'm talking about Tampa Bay that was coming off their
own soul crushing game four loss in overtime. And yet
the Bolts they get up off the ice, get up
off the map, whatever you want to call it. I'm
telling you they will never forget what happened to them
two years ago or three years ago when they were
the number one seed and they lost to the Columbus
(01:57:02):
Blue Jackets, the number one, number eight seed in the
first round. They not only lost, they were swept in
four games. And I think they remind themselves of that
every day. Here's the issue by by by Colorado letting
Tampa Bay up off the mat, they now had to
a very tough road game where Tampa Bay is not
only seventeen and five straight up over the last two playoffs,
(01:57:24):
but they also have a plus one point eight gold
differential per game. Tampa Bay was on the ropes, Colorado
failed to put him away. That's a dangerous thing to
do if you're facing a team with as much experience
as much playoff experience as Tampa Bay has heading into
Game six. Remember they are the two time NFL defending champions,
(01:57:46):
and remember when Tampa Bay got blown out seven and
nothing in Game two. The Lightning have not trailed in
regulations since the first period of Game three. Since that lost,
Tampa's trailed for just five minutes a stretch of we're
a hundred ninety minutes, Tampa's trail for just five of them.
So the Lightning, I think they're also in the heads
(01:58:06):
of the Colorado offense because Colorado was averaging thirty six
shots a game and they've outshot Tampa every game. But
the Bolts they keep weathering the storm, and they've got
andre Vassilevski who can still be the difference in this series,
currently the number two betting favorites for the consum Trophy. Meanwhile,
Nathan McKinnon of Colorado firing a ton of shots at
(01:58:26):
the net, but has just one goal in the entire series,
and it was deflected off as skate by the way,
not for nothing. Tampa Bay eight on and one in
the last nine games in these playoffs and their opponents
have been held to two or fewer goals. This is
gonna be a great game. Six. I think it's going seven. Yes,
the Stanley Cuff Finals. They are what they're cracked up
to be. Thanks for listening on Bernie Frattle. That's gonna
(01:58:47):
do it for Fox Sports Sunday, Fox Sports Radio, keep
it locked right here. It's Fox Sports Sunday. Continues
