Speaker 2 (00:31):
Your metabolism slowed down, you know it's your thyroid and
so you start fasting. Is that good or bad? We
will dive in Welcome to Accelerated Health of Sarah Banta,
where I cut through the noise fast track your journey
to better health. I'm the CEO and founder of Accelerated
Health Products and certified by the National Association of Nutritional Professionals,

(00:52):
and I'm here to share the latest done supplements, wellness hacks,
and natural health solutions that work and don't from boosting
energy to detoxing, to balancing hormones and everything in between.
So let's dive in fasting and hypothyroidism. What you really
need to know before you start. It's a great question

(01:13):
because while fasting can be a powerful tool and everyone
was talking about it intermittent fast, three day fast, five
day fast to increase the weight loss, success, the energy,
metabolic health, they claim that you won't burn through your muscles,
it'll go straight to burning fat. And if you've got

(01:34):
hashimotives or autoimmune thyroid issues tied to inflammation, it can
get complicated, right, But fasting is supposed to reduce inflammation.
So we're going to break all of this down. And
what happens to your thyroid during fasting when it can help,
when it can't. When to listen to your body, Well,

(01:56):
your thyroid isn't just about metabolism. It is in charge
of your whole energy system. It is the master indo
quine gland. It controls your adrenals, your stress, it affects
your gonatal system, your sex hormones that progesterone, estrogen, testosterone
men and women, and if your thyroid is underactive, these

(02:19):
small changes can have a huge effect over your whole system.
For some intermittent fascting helps regulate the blood sugar. If
you are an insulin resistance, it's great calms inflammation well,
number one. Inflammation comes a lot from inflammatory foods. So
if you cut out some of the foods, then the

(02:40):
inflammation is going to go down. And this is something
that you should think about before starting an ozebic or
one of those weight loss drugs because the studies done
on showing inflammation reduction with them is in obese and diabetics,
not in normal people, and those people are cutting down

(03:01):
on their intake of inflammatory foods. So what came first
juries out? I want to see a study of healthy
individuals put on semaglutide and see if it lowers their inflammation,
not changing the types of foods they're eating because they
aren't craving those inflammatory process fits. That's a side note.

(03:26):
But for intermittent fasting, it helps people with insulin resistance
type two diabetes obesity because it's lowering that the insulin
resistance and insulin resistance can tell your body to store
more fat, so it makes sense. But for others, if

(03:47):
your thyroid levels aren't stable, fasting can feel like pouring
gasoline on the fire, more fatigue, more framefog, more weight
loss struggles. If you're thigh slow and your body is
really tapping into those adrenals for the energy and cortisol

(04:08):
is just trying to keep you going, fasting is another
stressor adding in to that cortisol demand. When your adrenals
are tapped or when your adrenals are stressed, you use
more iodine and more salt than when you're not stressed.
Keep that in mind to when we get to the

(04:30):
supplements at the end. But iodine is needed for thyroid.
So if you are more stressed out because of the fasting,
and your adrenals are using up more iodine in salt,
and that iodine is not going to the thyroid hormones,
the T four and T three that stand for four
and three molecules of iodine, you're pulling away the thyroid

(04:53):
hormone building blocks. So then your thyroid's going to slow
down even more. And then and it becomes a stressor
what happens when your body's stressed. Uh oh, am I
going into a famine? Am I being chased by a tiger.
We are going to store body fat. I don't care
how many calories you put in me. I'm going to
take every single one of those calories and put it

(05:16):
in a fat cell for later use. And not only that,
I'm going to build it around my gut, that central
abdominal fat which protects you. It protects all of those
expensive organs, not your arms or your legs, but the gut,
the liver, the kidneys, the intestines. Because that is what

(05:37):
you need to protect for survival. Your body is smart,
So this is where you really have to know your
own body, and you've got to listen to your own body.
If you are in a huge stressful strait this estate,
going through a divorce, having a loss of a family member,

(05:58):
financial stressors, fasting might just be that tipping point that
makes things worse. When you see people that go through
a big loss, typically there's this immediate weight loss because
they're not hungry, their appetite is suppressed. The energy the

(06:19):
cortisol increases in the acute state, and that can cause
fat burning initially, But then you see those people six
months twelve months down the road, they've actually gained more
weight because they've slowed down their metabolism and the chronic
stress has depleted their thyroid and their adrenal storage or

(06:40):
that battery pack, and the body says, I got to
store fat for survival. I don't know when she's going
to eat to the right amount. And you've slowed down
the metabolism because you have stopped eating what you used
to eat. Your body's smart. You only spend money when
there's money in the bank, or if you've got to
credit card, but you're eventually gonna have to pay that

(07:02):
credit card. Think of your body that way. So personal story.
I loved fasting. I would fast all day and have
one meal a day, and my appetite was gone. It
was super easy, and I'd eat this huge meal at night,
you know, over twenty ounces of protein, getting in my grams,

(07:26):
doing all the right things, and I felt my metabolism
slow down so against my own will, because I wasn't
hungry in the morning. I started eating in the morning
and I thought, oh my gosh, I can feel my
thyroid turn on. I can feel my body heat up.
I can feel my muscles go, oh my gosh, I

(07:48):
love these amino acids that you're giving me. I trust you,
You're gonna feed me all day. And my metabolism went up.
And then I had to eat even more more today
than I've ever eaten before. And I'm feeling more energetic,
i feel more in control, I feel like my body

(08:08):
trusts me. So not to say that fasting is bad
for everybody, but these are things that you need to
think about as you partake in a shorter fast, a
longer fast. Too much fasting, and a lot of people
out there who were big proponents of these long fast
period are now retracting what they said. Same people that said, oh,

(08:33):
carbs are horrible for you are now incorporating some carbs
into your diet. We never needed any of this discussion
during our grandparents' ages. Why there were no processed foods
and no toxins. The food supply has been hijacked and
our bodies have been hijacked, and we don't even know

(08:54):
what real food is anymore. So we're just trying to
find a secret way to get that weight loss, the
reduction in inflammation, the increase in energy, and getting our
hormones back on point. But when you stick to whole
foods and your body trusts you, and your stress is

(09:17):
managed and your sleep is good, and you're moving your
body and you're eliminating the toxins as much as you can,
and you're detoxing, and your body confunction, it will it
will function optimally. Okay, So what happens to the thyroid
hormones during fasting? The T four is your storage hormone.

(09:40):
It's inactive usually stay steady during short fast. This is
why many hypothyroid patients can tolerate twelve to sixteen hour
hours without food. But the T three is your active hormone.
T four converts into T three. About twenty percent of
that conversion happens in your thyroid. Most of it happens

(10:01):
in your liver. You've got to take care of your
liver health. When your liver is clogged, your metabolism's going
to slow. Your fat burning is going to go put
your protein assimilation isn't going to work. This is where
you want to look at. Okay, am I able to
put muscle on? Am I burning fat? Am I feeling

(10:23):
nauseous when I eat a faty meal. These are all
signs that your liver's not working, or if you are
doing all the right things but your thyroid hormones aren't converting.
Your T three is low, your ferretin or iron or high,
your cholesterol levels are creeping up for no reason. These
are signs of liver dysfunction. So the T three, the

(10:48):
active hormone, can dip if fasting goes beyond twenty four
hours and I feel it, you know when I do
my liver flesh that last day, I fast until I
do the liver drink at night, and I don't fast
all day anymore. But What happens is I can feel
my metabolism slowed down and towards them in the afternoon

(11:11):
because you know, oh, she's not giving me food. What's
going on. I'm going to slow things down so your
body is conserving energy. If you already run low on
T three, this can hit you harder and you might
get cold hands, a sluggish digestion, brain fog. These are
signs to look for. Then that reverse TE three is

(11:34):
the emergency break that is your stress hormone. So if
your body doesn't trust you and you're stressed, that T
four is going to convert into reverse T three, causing
you to store fat, slow the metabolism, all the things
that you're not wanting to do. And this is like
if you are on a caloric restrictive diet, you're overtraining

(11:59):
your dressed out for because of finances or a death
in the family or something like that, and then you
add on fasting. Your body says, nope, I don't trust you.
I'm going to convert that T four into reverse T three,
not free T three. Your metabolism griidens to a halt.
Doesn't matter what you're eating, Every little morsel of food

(12:22):
is going to be stored into those fat cells. Now,
the TSH is that signaling hormone thyroid stimulating hormone, and
it can go either way depending on your stress level
and overall health. That's why you need a full panel.
Typically TSH at a high level can be saying screaming
to your thyroid, saying produce more, more and more. T four.

(12:47):
I don't feel it. But this is something that no
one talks about. Your blood test does not tell the
whole story. You might have the same blood test as
me and I'm feeling great and you feel horrible. That
means that my cells are more sensitive to the thyroid

(13:08):
hormones than yours. Your cells are resistant to those thyroid
hormone signals, just like they're insulin resistant or leptin resistant.
You need to look at the cellular level. This danger
response at that cellular level, and that does not show

(13:29):
up on a blood test. And it's so frustrating because
most doctors don't even look at the full blood panel,
let alone look beyond the blood panel. They're not looking
at the cell danger response, they're not looking at your symptoms.
I had a blood test where one doctor said your
hype O. The other doctor said you're hyper. How can

(13:52):
two practitioners from the same blood test come to different conclusions?
What can I tell you? I can tell you as
hyper because my body was in an acute stress state
from a viral and parasitic infection and it was burning
from the inside out. So that's where you look at

(14:13):
yourself and your symptoms and how you feel. So what
are the benefits of internet fasting? Yes, weight management. It
retrains your metabolism to burn more fat efficiently, even when
your thyroid is sluggish. It improves that insulin sensitivity. And
most people are insulin resistant, and most insulin resistance leads

(14:35):
to a sluggish metabolism and slow thyroid, so they go
hand in hand. So when you lower insulin resistance, you
may help your thyroid and your metabolism. Your cells respond
to insulin more effectively, helping you stabilize your blood sugar
and avoid energy crashes. Inflammation comes down, so this is

(14:58):
huge for people with hashimotoves since inflammation drives that autoimmune
attack on your thyroid and then the cellular renewal the autophagy.
So this is what one of the biggest things for
fastiness is your cells kill off the bad ones and
regenerate new good ones. Now, typically you have to fast

(15:21):
for longer periods of time to get to that state,
and no practitioner has a test for testing how what
level of autophogy you're getting into. So if they're claiming
they do, don't trust them. So a fasting pushes the
cortisol too high, it can flip the switch in the

(15:41):
wrong direction. So warning signs that you're overdoing it. You're
more fatigued, you have colder hands and feet, you're constipated,
your digestion is slow, you have mood swings, your brain fog, anxious,
your regular menstrual cycles. Your cycle is a clue, a

(16:01):
window into what is going on in your body. With trust,
is your body in a good position to support another
human being? If not, hey, we're going to put the
brakes on that and we're not going to allow you
that opportunity. So that is number one. So how can
you fast safely? If you have hypothyroidism, Now I believe

(16:27):
ninety percent of you have suboptimal thyroid function. If you
have unexplained waking, if you have any of the symptoms
we've talked about, your thyroid is probably not up to park.
So here's what I recommend. Start small. Begin with a
twelve hour overnight fast. Finish dinner at seven have breakfast

(16:48):
at seven am. If you feel good, gradually increase to
fourteen or sixteen hours. That's easy, you're just sleeping most
of the time. Get when you are fasting, you must
focus on nutrient dense meals, protein, protein, protein. I am
not a proponent of a high fat ketogenic diet for

(17:10):
most of you, not because it was once good, but
because most of you have sluggish or suboptimal liver function,
and our livers are backed up. We cannot process fat
very well. So this is where you want to prioritize. Protein.
Wild animal protein's the best. It's the most nutrient dense,

(17:31):
easiest to digest, and doesn't have those amyloid proteins that
cause leaky gut trigger more inflammation in the body. These
amyloid proteins are found in chicken, pork, conventionally raised beef,
and the spike protein from the pandemic have made things
a lot worse and made these amyloids much more damaging

(17:53):
to the body. I used to eat chicken all the time.
I used to eat pork and beef. I don't touch
the stuff anymore. I love my protein, but if the
option is vegan or chicken, I will be vegan that meal.
So you want to load your eating wheel window with
the wild animal protein and hit. If you are in
a chloric restrictive diet, I actually recommend hitting more than

(18:18):
one gram per pound of body weight in protein. So
that is the baseline. But when you are lowering your calories,
it's more important to actually increase that protein amount to
sustain the muscle. Make sure you're not breaking down your good,
healthy tissues. And this is why when you go on

(18:40):
one of the weight loss drugs and you just don't
eat very much, but you don't prioritize protein, that's when
you lose muscle and fat at the same time collagen.
The face starts getting creepy and old. And that's where
if you're going to do those drugs, you need to
prioritize protein and lift heavy weights. So you've got to

(19:02):
focus on your protein. And then you want to align
your body clock, so eat during the daylight, finish a
dinner early. This improves sleep. Balances your cortisol, watch your
blood sugar. If you feel shaky, irritable, or dizzy, you
want to get stabilized first. So if you have high
insulin resistance, you're not going to be able to go

(19:22):
straight into a long fasting because you're going to have
big dips and you're not going to feel good at all.
This is where salt comes in. That helps stabilize blood
sugar'll also helps hydrate the cells intracellularly, the accelerated ancient salt.
I keep mine in a little jar like this, and
I keep it with me in my purse and I'll

(19:44):
just put a little bit on my tongue if I
feel dizzy, light headed, or I'm going to do my
workout and I don't have enough electrolytes. That is a
game changer. So that is something to watch for. The
blood sugar too, And you want to time your thyroid
supplements so that you take them on an empty stomach
thirty to sixty minutes away from food. So fasting can

(20:06):
make it a lot easier when you need to take
supplements without food. Right, So what supplements can help you
and get you out of this stress response, because the
whole trick is to be able to fast but not
tell your body you're stressed out right. We want the
detoxification the metabol heeling, the fat loss all from this fasting,

(20:30):
and you want to focus on that nutrient dense basis
of a diet. But you've got to be strategic with
your supplements. And number one is accelerating iodine. Why because
the idine is that four and three molecules of iodine
in the T four and T three. But not only
that idine supports that cell membrane the brain of the

(20:54):
cells that allow toxins out and nutrients in our fat
cells are stored units for all of these microplastics, endocrine
disrupt eruptors, the heavy metals, the halogens. If our cells
don't feel safe to release these toxins, we're going to
hold onto those filled fat cells. We're not gonna let

(21:18):
go of anything. So our bodies have to feel safe
to release the toxins. And that is with the cell membrane,
and that is made up of iodine and fat. I
like using FOSPHOTITYL coaling to pair with the accelerated dyne
iodine to support that cell membrane. You also need iodine

(21:38):
inside the cell for that increased ATP in the mitochondria.
What does that mean? That's your energy, not the monster
drink or the coffee. It's the ATP inside your cells.
And you also need idine to support the T three
and T four synthesis, especially important during the fasting. When

(21:58):
hormone regulation becomes it's more sensitive. It detoxes and displaces
the toxic calagens like fluoride, broaming chlorine from the receptor sites,
freeing the space for the idine. So ninety six percent
of you are idine deficient when your cells don't have
the idine in those parking spots. Those parking spots are

(22:20):
going to get filled with the chlorine from your water,
the fluoride from your water, the fluoro chemicals from the pfhase,
and all of the plastics and toxins that are fluoro based,
fluoride based, they fit right into those iodine receptors. Right.
Most women with breast cancer are full of bromide and

(22:45):
idine deficient. So idine also enhances the detox pathways, stimulates
the liver enzyme activity, improving oxidative stress response, and it's
also antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, all the things. Did you know
your thyroid's going to slow down and your metabolism is

(23:05):
going to slow down if you're finding a virus or
a pathogen. So that's where idine comes in on so
many levels. So it's not just for your thyroid and
the T four and T three, so many other things.
It is the number one thing for fasting. It helps
with the fat burning, increases fat oxidation, and gives you

(23:25):
the energy so that your body says, hey, I don't
need to eat right now, I'm good. And then pairing
with that is accelerated thyroid. These two together have gotten
a lot of people off of their medication, of course
with the guidance of their doctor. But accelerated Thyroid is
three and one. It is thyroid, adrenal and immune support,

(23:46):
and it combines grass fed freeze dried thyroid glandular from
New Zealand, the best source in the world, providing the
bioidentical hormones, glandular peptides and moon boosting factors that nourish
and support the thyroid. And then it has other cofactors

(24:06):
to help restore thyroid health. Of course, like all of
the accelerated products, it's enhanced with scalar frequencies that are
designed to support restoring your thyroid back to normal health
and your parathyroid. Your parathyroid and your thyroid work together.
You've got to address both, and no one talks about

(24:27):
the parathyroid, right, Okay, So then this is the key.
Accelerated Fast. I don't ever go without this supplement. Whether
I'm fasting one hour or seven, I will never go
without accelerated Fast. It gives me a great boost in
the morning before my workout. It helps stabilize my blood
sugar and give me great keytones for my workout and

(24:50):
my energy. I am not hungry. It has ingredients to
spark that fire in your liver to be able to
to convert more fat into ketones. It gives you some keytnes.
It helps with the trace minerals that you need for
your thyroid function. It has mucal in it, which is

(25:11):
an arovetic herb that promotes fat burning and metabolism, supports detoxification,
and helps with thyroid activity. It also acts as a
mild diuretic to help with the water retention, which you
probably suffer from if you have hypothyroidism. Trikcottu enhances digestive function,
improving that nutrient absorption, and then there are some other

(25:35):
ingredients that help with the fat burning, stabilizing the blood sugar, energy,
increased ATP so many things. So I wake up, I
sleep walk to my idine, I take my eye indose.
I wait twelve minutes. I take my accelerated thyroid. I
wait forty five minutes. I then take my accelerated fast,

(25:57):
my accelerated aminos. Why do I take my accelerated aminos.
They do not break a fast, there's no calories, but
they will help maintain that muscle, but mass support the muscle,
increase ATP, increase the ability to perform during my workout
way beyond what I could without it. I forgot it

(26:20):
on a weekend away. This last weekend, I'm like, God,
why am I so tired during my workout compared to normal?
I'd forgotten my accelerated aminos. They go so well together,
and you can actually take the accelerated liver care at
the same time, and that way you're supporting your detoxification
and rebuilding of your liver. Most of you are suffering

(26:40):
from fatty liver disease, which will only make your thyroid
function worse and your weight gain more prominent and your
ability to burn fat worse. So you want to address
the accelerated or the liver, and you can take all
three of those together, it's fantastic. Now. The other thing

(27:01):
I mentioned was during your fasting period, you can use
minerals and salt, and you need it because your cells
need to be hydrated. Energy comes from hydration, not necessarily food.
You can't live for very long without water and minerals.
You can live a lot longer without food. And accelerated

(27:24):
Ancient salt is a unique blend. No microplastics, no bird droppings,
no nothing, handmned over sixty naturally occurring minerals, not just sodium,
and it's enhanced with scalar frequencies for better absorption, intracellular
hydration and helps with your digestion. So I love using

(27:46):
the accelerated Ancient salt throughout the day when I'm fasting.
And then what I do is I will eat when
I'm hungry, and I usually break my fast with some
wild animal protein maybe some vegetables with it, and I
feel amazing. I make sure I'm hydrated. You want to
make sure that you are not overstressed. This is the killer,

(28:10):
because if you're overstressed, fasting is just another stressor So
talk to your doctor about your blood test, get a
full thyroid panel, get your cortisol tested, get your cholesterol tested,
your ferretin, your liver enzymes zs are the most important.
But then also listen to your body. Your blood test

(28:33):
does not tell you the whole story, and you are
your best doctor. So when you do the thyroid blood
panel TSH free T four, T four total free T
three reverse T three thyroid antibodies for sure, liver enzymes, cortisol,
sex hormones, fasting, glucose A one C those are really important. Okay,

(28:58):
So listen to yourself, think through what supplements you're taking,
think through what you're putting in your mouth. And really
it is about eating real foods. I don't care if
you're eating carbs or fats, whole foods, the fruits and
the vegetables and even some of the grains from the

(29:20):
Accelerated Food Guide, but stay away from the ones that
are oxolate, sulfur, lectin or mold and pair that with
that wild animal protein. You will feel so much better
and your thyroid and your body will love you. Thanks
