Feeling constantly exhausted despite eating well, sleeping enough, and taking supplements? The root cause might not be your willpower—or even your thyroid. It could be a deeper biochemical process called methylation.

In this episode of Accelerated Health with Sara Banta, I talk about how methylation impacts every cell in your body, influencing gene expression, detoxification, energy production, and hormone balance. When methylation slows, fatigue, brain fog, mood swings, and other chronic symptoms can appear—and traditional solutions often fall short.

Learn how understanding methylation could be the key to unlocking your energy, clarity, and overall health. Don’t let chronic fatigue control your life—discover what your cells are trying to tell you!

Speaker 2 (00:30):
You're always tired. No matter how clean your diet is,
how much you sleep, how many supplements you take, You're
doing all the right things. The problem might not be
your willpower or even your thyroid. It might be something
called methylation. Well, welcome to Accelerated Health with Sarafanta or
I cut through the noise and fast track your journey

(00:53):
to better health. I'm your host, CEO and founder of
Accelerated Health Products and certified by the National Association of
Tutritional Professionals. I'm here to share the latest unsupplements wellness
as natural health solutions that actually work. From boosting your
energy to detoxing to balancing hormones, all those things are related,
by the way, and everything in between. I will help

(01:17):
you reach your optimal health. So let's dive in. Methylation
might be the cause to your chronic fatigue. When methylation slows,
your cells can't produce enough energy. Detoxify waste, regulate your hormones.
That's when fatigue, brain fog, mood imbalances begin, and we

(01:39):
all want to blame it on perimenopause and menopause. Well,
this makes all of that worst. So what is methylation.
It's one of the body's most important biochemical reactions. It
tells your cells to turn genes on and off, repair
DNA after damage, toxify those chemicals and heavy metals we

(02:02):
talk about every single week. Regulate the inflammation the hormones
in the mood. It involves the transfer of a methyl
group to DNA, proteins or other molecules. We're going to
get into the weeds of chemistry a bit, but we're
gonna also get the bigger picture, so stay tuned well.

(02:23):
Which is so with this. It is essential for regulating
so many cellular processes. So every second, millions of methylation
reactions occur inside the cells. And it depends on certain
enzymes which rely on minerals like I had I and
imagine that zinc, selenium, magnesium, as well as the B

(02:45):
vitamin cofactors such as folate. We hear a lot about
it B six, B twelve, but we need them in
the right form, they could backfire. These B vitamins are
crucial for supporting that methylation in managing homocysteine levels. Without
these cofactors, enzymes can't do their jobs and you're gonna

(03:07):
have inflammation and horrible reactions, allergies, histamine reactions. The gene
variant that you have could be part of the problem.
So what happens when methylation fails, Your energy drops. Methylation
supports the mitochondrial ATP synthesis. We need that ATP it's

(03:29):
your energy. Without it, you feel drained. Toxins accumulate, so
poor methylation clogs the liver. The liver can't do its job,
and it's got so many jobs to do, especially in
this world, and so it gets overwhelmed and it says,
I give up. And then all of your symptoms get
so much worse. Neurotransmitters deplete, the brain runs low on dopamine, serotonin,

(03:54):
nora per nephyrin. We get stressed, easily anxious, easily depressed, easily.
Hormone metabolism slows, estrogen, thyroid, hormones, cortisol become umbalanced. So
then the menopausal symptoms gets worse. Your hypothyroidism gets worse,
your stress gets worse. You can't manage anything. Inflammation increases.

(04:16):
Inflammation is the cause of all disease. Without methylation, elevated
levels of homossystine and oxidative stress increase even more. The
result you feel wired but tired, unable to concentrate constantly
fighting that fatigue and sleep isn't helping. So there's this
thing called the mthfr gene why some of us struggle

(04:40):
a little more than others. I've got it, Everyone in
my family's got it, and at least half of you do,
so roughly half of the population carries this genetic variant.
It's called the mthfr enzyme, the gatekeeper for activating folate
into methyl folate, so this is often referred to as

(05:03):
the mthfr gene, mutation or variant. So the mthfr gene
provides instructions for making the mthfr protein, which is essential
for the folate metabolism, and this plays a role in
converting folate into its active form. There are several mthfr

(05:25):
gene variants, including the one that most of us have,
And then we get in trouble and things aren't working.
These mutations can lead to mthfr deficiency which may impact
that homocysteine level folate metabolism, and if you've got two
of them, homozygis in the MTHFR gene, that will increase

(05:49):
the risk of elevated homo sistine levels and related health
issues such as heart disease, blood clots, all the issues. Right, So,
even if you eat the good foods full of fol
eate or you take the standard vitamin bs right this,

(06:09):
your body might not be converting them into usable forms.
It's not about what you take in, it's about what
your body does with it. So if your body can't
use it, doesn't do you any good. You're wasting your
money on those vitamins. Now, what weight makes it even
worse is our environment. Our modern day toxins have made

(06:30):
this so much worse. So even those of you who
don't have the gene mutation like I do, could be struggling.
Why halogens, fluoride, bromine, chlorine compete with iodine. This makes
it worse. The heavy metals like mercury and lead block
this enzyme. Glyphosate and pesticides destroy the gut flora and

(06:54):
nutrient absorption. The seed oils that we all talk about
the processed ones, increase inflammation, all sedative stress, the chronic
stress we're all under that hijacks the methyl groups for
cortisol production. So supporting methylation means defending against these daily
insults through detoxification, mineral repletion, and targeted amino support. We're

(07:18):
going to get into that in a minute. So researchers
use restriction enzymes to analyze the methylation patterns in DNA,
and this is what's helping them understand how these environmental
stressors influence our gene regulations. It's not just about our genetics,
it's about our environment. How do they play with one another. Now,

(07:41):
this is where it gets interesting and no one talks
about it. Iodine, at the center of methylation lies one
of the most often over minerals that connects energy, detoxification,
DNA protection, and longevity. It's not just all about the thyroid. People,

(08:03):
not just a thyroid mineral. It's a biochemical activator that
powers the enzymes responsible for maintaining your body's most vital
repair systems. So let's break it down. So inside your cells,
iodine supports both methylation and apoptosis. That's inside the cells,

(08:25):
and what is apoptosis. That's that self cleaning process. So
here's what happens in your DNA. Methylation helps regulate which
genes turn on which ones are turned off, resulting in
methylated DNA that influences gene active activity and maintains that
genetic stability. Gene variance can also affect how an individual's

(08:48):
responds to iodine and methylation. When a cell becomes too damaged, okay,
cancer cells or thing, it can't repair it. It's supposed
to self destruct. Your body's supposed to say, hey, that
one's not good, let's get rid of it. Now. What's
happened since the pandemic? And I got to be careful
with how I talk about this. You've seen skyrocketed cancer

(09:14):
cases across the board, right, chronic disease inflammation through the
roof people who have been healthy, who eat clean, who
do all the right things, diseases showing up in them. Why, well,
there's some disconnect in this messaging in the body that says, hey,

(09:35):
that one's bad, we need to get rid of it.
And what happens to that is it is allowed to
proliferate because nothing in your body is stopping it. So
when a cell becomes to damage. It's supposed to self
destruct through this apoptosis, preventing mutation and disease. Iodine helps

(09:58):
regulate these processes. It works alongside a vital tumor suppressor
gene called P fifty three. This is known as the
guardian of the genome. So, when your DNA is exposed to toxins, radiation,
oxidative stress, Okay, we've got to think, what's what have

(10:21):
we been exposed to since twenty twenty, Your body has
a built in protection system, the P fifty three Castpase
nine pathway. So here's how it works. Naturally, DNA damage
occurs exposure to the pollution the halogens or free radicals,
injures the cellular DNA. Then P fifty three activates this

(10:47):
guardian gene, detects the damage and decides whether to repair
the DNA or get rid of it. Caspis nine responds
if the DN if the damage is beyond repair, Okay,
we want to get rid of it. It's a bad cell.
P fifty three triggers cast space nine, the first enzyme

(11:10):
in a cascade that dismantles the cell safely. The body's
a miracle, people. The body has all of this intelligence
in it. Then you've got healthy apoptosis. The damaged cell
dies clean in it makes room for new healthy cells,

(11:31):
preventing cancer, autoimmunity, premature aging. This pathway keeps your DNA safe,
your tissues young, and your immune system sharp. Like I said,
your body's the miracle. When p fifty three or castpase
nine are disregulated, then the damaged cells survive. They multiply,

(11:55):
they take over. They lay the groundwork for certain cancer
and other human chronic disease. Okay, very complicated, very science y,
I get it. Let's pull back now. Essentially, the intelligence
in your body is broken from these toxins, from exposure

(12:18):
to what we've been exposed to. The intelligence is brought broken.
You are on a phone call on your cell phone underwater.
You can't hear the person talking to you. The communication
isn't there. So how does idine support the guardian of
the genome. Think of it as fuel for the internal

(12:40):
repair system. It doesn't edit the genes. Instead, it empowers
your own biology to maintain the balance, repair itself, and
protect its DNA. It bypasses. Okay, it pulls the cell
phones out of the water. You're now on top of
the bridge and you're talking. It's stim emulates healthy apoptosis.

(13:02):
It activates P fifty three and cast base nine, ensuring
that the damage cells die off before coming down before
becoming dangerous. It supports DNA methylation. Idine allows the enzymes
to regulate genes and keep inflammation and mutation under control.
Idine also supports the function of the mtfr protein, which

(13:25):
is essential right for the folate metabolism, regulating the homos
cystine levels. It's extremely antihistamine, antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, anti parasite,
all the things, but it also helps regulate the homelessystem.
It helps process folate efficiently. So by supporting methylation pathways

(13:47):
and the mthfr protein, Idine helps the body process the
folate and it contributes to overall good healthy cellular health.
It boosts mitochondria health. Idine enhances is that ATP production
inside the cell. That's our energy. When we're talking about
chronic fatigue, we don't want to reach for the monster

(14:08):
drink or the coffee. We need to look at our
cellular energy. Because we are only as energetic as our cells.
We are only as healthy as our mitochondria. Idine neutralizes
oxidative stress potent antioxidant one of the most, if not
the most, protects DNA an mitochondria from the free radicals,

(14:31):
the pollutants, the halogens, all that stuff. So the bigger picture, Okay,
when methylation and apoptosis are in balance, right, when it's
doing what it's meant to do, then you repair DNA,
You eliminate the malfunctions of the cells. You maintain steady
energy and metabolism. You prevent the inflammation, the abnormal growth,

(14:54):
all of those things that cause chronic fatigue, makes it
so you don't want to get out of bed. Okay,
And when when they're not damaged, cells accumulate, leading to
thyroid dysfunction. Why are we all suffering from suboptimal thyroid
chronic fatigue, metabolic decline, accelerated aging. Poor methylation is assodiate

(15:17):
associated with so many diseases. That's why Iodine deficiency is
linked to fatigue, hormonal imbalance, brain fog. It is the
number one cause for mitochondrial failure. Idine deficiency is the
number one cause for depression. How can you have good
mood if you have no energy? Ninety six percent of

(15:38):
the United States idine deficient. It is no longer in
our soils and we are suffering. So it is acting
as the body's biological reset. Wouldn't that be nice to
get a little reset start over, right? So I always
say all roads don't lead to rome, they lead to io.

(16:00):
That's why I talk about iodine so often. But it's
not just about iodine. So we're going to talk about
some other supplements that you can incorporate to get rid
of that chronic fatigue. So number one is the acceleradine
iodine that is the spark for methylation in cellular repair, right,
helping with the P fifty three caspase nine pathway responsible

(16:26):
for the healthy apoptosis. But acceleridine iodine is different than
any other iodine. It is made from monoatomic iodine, one
molecule of iodine. So that's why it's super important to
only have it with water, is because it is looking
to attach to something, and you want it to attach
to those parking spots on every cell that has a

(16:48):
spot for iodine. And when you're deficient, guess what fills
those parking spots. The elements that look like it, the chlorine,
the broma, the fluoride. We're exposed to it even me.
I've got filtered water in my house, but I'm exposed
to it. I don't know how, but I am the

(17:11):
food that is sprayed at the market, even though organic food.
We don't know where we're getting these toxins, so we
need to kick them out. And that's where the idine
protects yourselves by having it fill the parking spot. There's
no room for these other toxins. But idine also supports
hormonal balance and brain function. But you want to take
that acceleratine iodine only with water because it's that one

(17:35):
molecule of iodine. It's paired with non GMO organic two
hundred proof alcohol, which is the best, most optimal carrier
of the iodine to all of your cells. It's far
more superior than any other poorly made alcohol or glycerine.
Those slow down the absorption. And then of course it's

(17:58):
enhanced with scalar frequencies to help with its bioavailability. So
idine iodine idine, we've killed that one in this in
this little talk here, But we've also talked about the liver.
Remember the liver is the command center for methylation. When
I was taking a b vitamin B six in the

(18:18):
wrong form, thinking I was giving my body energy. My
liver enzymes went through the roof. My liver was toxic.
It couldn't it couldn't handle it. Now, ironically and a
God given grace, we launched Accelerated Liver Care at the
exact same time. Within two weeks, my liver enzymes came down.

(18:40):
It is really important to have a well functioning liver
when it's congested with toxins, bio thickens, enzyme slow your
fat metabolism, slows your protein assimilation slows, methylation grinds to
a halt, and Accelerated Liver Care is designed to help
reduce uvinate the liver, enhance bile flow. You will see

(19:03):
more bile in your stools. You will actually see more
junk come out of you. It will help with those
bowel movements in a healthy way, and it frees up
methylation resources for repair and energy. Your energy comes from
your liver, right, so it's going to use ingredients like bouplarum, philanthus.

(19:24):
Those help decongest the liver and the gallbladder, repair the
liver cells with philanthus and eclipta, and then you've got it.
Ingredients like token and milk thistle that enhance the glue
to thion production. Now, taking a glutathion or NAC supplement,
those are sulfur based. That is really hard on your system,

(19:46):
especially if you have the MTHFRG. That's why I talk
about eliminating the sulfur foods as much as you can
from your diet. And these supplements like glutathion and NEC
can actually fire and back up your liver. So you
want to take supplements or have your body produce its

(20:08):
own glue de thion right because it is the body's
master antioxid it, so it helps with circulation so many things.
There is an herb in there, Palpereria, that has studies
on it for helping with cirrhosis and liver cancer. Accelerated

(20:28):
liver care. I won't go without it. So a maintenance
dosage is two to three caps at night after dinner,
at least like an hour before bed because I always
like to follow it up with my accelerated cellular detox
powder to soak up all the toxins from our daily
toxin soup that we're living in, and I mix that

(20:49):
with the magnesium breakthrough tarcherry. That combination tastes great, but
it also helps with sleep. But doing the liver care
an hour before or that is great because it's cleansing
the liver and then your body can soak up the
toxins with the detox powder and take them out. Now,
if you want to up the game and have a

(21:10):
therapeutic dose, you can take a second dose in the
morning time. Sometime it can be taken with accelerated aminos
and accelerated fast. That's an easy way to take it
on an empty stomach, and you can do that as well.
Two dos as a day is great. Now it is
part of the accelerated liver flush cleanse. This is something

(21:31):
that I like to do every four to six weeks.
It just gives me a reset. I have those genes,
I have the mthf R genes, and when I do
my flush, my energy gets a reboot. It's amazing what
your liver has to do with your energy. Okay, So
next is the accelerated aminos which I just talked about

(21:54):
taking with the accelerated liver care. Methylation depends on amino acids, glycine, serine.
They act as the raw materials for the same and
glue tothion production. Remember, we want our bodies to make
its own glue to thion. Most people today are deficient
due to poor digestion, low stomach acid. You're not taking

(22:16):
in enough protein. You're not breaking down the protein when
you do take it in, especially if your liver's clogged,
because that's where the body breaks the protein down into
amino acids so that you can use those amino acids
without the building box. Methylation slows down. Then you get tired,
poor recovery, increased oxidative stress, all the things. Accelerated aminos

(22:40):
not just has the essential amino acids, but it has
the cofactor ingredients that are a game changer, and it
doesn't have the fillers and toxins that For me, when
I was taking the leading brand essential amino acid supplements,
I was getting puffy, couldn't take my rings off, my fingers,
couldn't see my ankles. I was loaded. They didn't have

(23:01):
those ingredients on their label, but my body was reacting
to something in there other than the essential amino acids.
No reaction in a negative way from the supplement, even
when you take three to four doses a day. But
it has HMB that helps preserve muscle and mitochondrial health. Okay,
especially during fasting or stress. Estrogen is an ingredient you

(23:25):
haven't heard of. It helps enhance the nutrient or absorption
heel leaky gut actually increases the absorption of the essential
amino acids by over forty percent. Sinactive promotes cellular renewal
and anti inflammatory recovery, and you've got okg helps with
the ammonia build up, improves the nitrogen balance. Erotic acid

(23:48):
supports your ATP synthesis. TMG amazing for what we're talking about,
provides the direct methyl donors for SAM and gluteithion recycling.
No other essential amino acid supplement has that. So these
supplements together, the accelerated aminos, accelerating iodine, accelerated liver care

(24:11):
are a great pack for that energy the chronic fatigue,
overcoming the chronic fatigue. But then you add in my
favorite multivitamin it's called Ola Loa Energy, and it has
all of the vitamins needed in methylated form, methylated vitamins, minerals,

(24:32):
and antioxidants. So you're getting what you need in the
form your body can use. Because remember it's not about
what you take in, it's about what your body can use.
And absorb. It has the magnesium, co Q ten, vitamin C, antioxidants, electrolytes,
trace minerals. But what it has is it has it

(24:53):
in the form your body can use. So I love
using all of these together. You want to also, so
make sure you're hydrating with mineral rich water, structured clean
filtered water, use accelerated ancient salt to help with electrolytes,
eat that wild clean animal protein for a natural amino

(25:15):
acids and minerals like zinc and selenium that feed that
methylation reduce the halogen exposure. Of course, your fluoridated water.
And you want to make sure you're sleeping. But before
you were sleeping, I wasn't doing any good. It will
start doing me so good. So I hope this was
helpful in explaining what mthf RT is, how methylation could

(25:39):
possibly be part of the puzzle of why you can't
get your energy back, why you're so tired. Yeah, it
could be menopause. It could be perimenopause, but your systems
don't have to be as affected. If you were getting
the right support for methylation, for thyroid support, that will

(26:03):
help you get through these hormonal phases that we all
have to go through, but at the same time, they
don't have to be as bad as what you're experiencing.
