Never Forget! A Holocaust Survivor Shares Her Story

January 27, 2025, marked the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the Nazi concentration camp in Poland. Holocaust Survivor Rita Lurie was age 5 when she and family members lived for 2 years hiding in an attic in Poland. With daughter, Leslie Gilbert-Lurie, she wrote a memoir, Bending Toward the Sun.


Between 1940 and 1945, more than one million Jews, religious leaders, disabled persons, and other innocent victims were viciously and mercilessly executed in Auschwitz
