Radio. Welcome to outdoors people withme. Cw Getz and her Maya mar
Zaki. Good evening. It's Wednesday, November twenty second, twenty twenty three.
(00:53):
I have to check that for asecond, Like, am I reading
that right? This month is flyingby man, It's just crazy, crazy
the whole year, but this yearis special fest. Yeah. Absolutely.
It seems like yesterday we were inAruba, you know, the sun and
sweating our Heine's and drinking Heiney's.Yeah, absolutely, Why I was there
(01:14):
anyway? Yeah? So well, our weather here at north central Illinois tonight
is forty five degrees fahrenheit, cloudy, which equates to seven degrees celsius and
the rest of the world. Maya, what do you got there in Brazil?
Oh, I am so jealous. It is so hot in here,
with twenty six degrees southius degrees sorry, and at seven eight degrees fahrenheit.
(01:42):
I think that's pleasant. You thinkthat's hot? It is hot, yes,
way too hot, yes, mainlybecause the summer even started. We
are in the spring too, soyeah, I am concerning how it's going
to be. You know, Iwas. I was with our mutual friend
Marrilli in the story the other day. We were talking about, you know,
(02:07):
the temperature, and I guess itwas a little chilli in the store
and I said, you know, you could be in Brazil like at about
one hundred degrees right now, whichwas May is putting up. This was
probably about a week well not evena week ago, a few days ago.
But it's been really hot there. So yeah, I've been seeing some
things on the internet going, man, those Brazilian it's kind of crazy.
(02:29):
Actually, we are really worried aboutwhat's going to happening and what is happening
right now because it is way tootoo hot that should be, and it's
been like the hottest week like everin this tycle of the years. So
it's really scary. So you're onboard with the whole global warming program,
(02:49):
then I was. I am feelingin my skin. It's not fake,
people, it's not fake. It'sright now, just to ask my Yeah,
it's the real deal. You're livingit. Oh my god. Well,
hey, I'm just glad i'm heretoday. I was almost killed by
a bicyclist today on a trail ona I was actually a walking trail.
(03:10):
I guess you could write bicycles too, but there's air old directions, and
of course I was going the wrongway. But this guy was going like
forty mile an hour in a bicycleand just went wizzened by me. And
I thought, man, if Iwould have just sidestepped, I'd have been
like cream. So you bicyclist, watch out for the old people. We're
you know. Oh my god,Oh my gosh. Well, Tonight's episode

(04:24):
and was also awarded the best twintarp I'm Sorry twin Tip Female kite writer
in Stockholm. Mina's most recent endeavorhas been the Maritus Luxury Kite camp Y
twenty twenty three st st st stst st stop Dispect something and with that,
(06:12):
welcome to the show, a Mina. Hello and good evening to you
and everyone watching us. It wasmy honor to be here in this TV
show. I'm in Stockholm. It'scurrently like midnight and around twenty fahrenheight.
We are so we are so sorryto keep you up so late. We
have a bad habit to do ithere. That's really fun. I mean,
(06:35):
I am sorry, but I'm notsorry because I'm glad you're here with
us. Thank you very much forbeing awake. Yes, thank you for
staying up for us, Mina,it's a pleasure. And how did you
come up with the idea of creatinga kite surf Adventures company? Yeah,
(06:59):
you know, like kite surfing changedmy life completely from normal stressful city life
style to almost one hundred happy lifestyle. So surfing gives me the most amazing
feeling of freedom. And you know, when you are in the middle of
the ocean and sturtening by the nature, you are free like yourself from all
(07:21):
everyday life war is all the problems. Like if you ask kite surfers,
they say, we don't have anyproblem. They don't know the problems.
So and then I just realized thatwe are all connected to the nature,
and like we most like rescue thisconnection we human being. It's to be
(07:44):
the nature and then do the activityin the nature. So and this kite
surfing gives me like high pasts ofthe autonaline and then the satisfaction of being
high as a cloud. So soyou know, like nowadays, unfortunately,
like many people turn it away fromthis nature connection. And clearly I see,
(08:09):
especially in a Western country, theyhave like one hundred percent freedom,
but they don't have this enjoyment senseof freedom. So like loneliness, like
loneliness, like social isolation, it'slike one of the biggest problems of society.
So all my friends start to askme how you are so happy,
(08:31):
and then like how you do thiskind of activity and etc. So I
as I start to consult my friends, I just come to this idea,
why not to allow other people comewith me and just enjoy the life as
I enjoy. So I started toopen a Facebook called the Adventures of Glib
(08:54):
and then it's really really well receivedby the people, and I started with
different activity in Sweden. So andin twenty twenty two I decided to take
my kite instructor certification in Portugal andworking as a kite instructor beside my main
(09:15):
job. So and then twenty twentythree I founded the opin Adventures, a
venture to offer one stoff vacation solationto people who love the chaiscerfing and also
people who want to be a chaysurfer and like generally adventuremented people. So
you know, my passion of chaityscurfingand my love to the ocean inspired me
(09:41):
to create the oppin Adventures to takethe people to the beautiful and re taking
place in the world, like connectedthe people to the other. Look how
people get to know the cultures likeand like experience the new adventures. So
yeah, that's why I created upin Adventures. That's pretty cool, you
(10:03):
know. And you have quite astory actually, and that's a very cool
story. You also have another story. You started life and you know day
one in Iran and now you're inStockholm, Sweden. What's the story?
How did that kind of come about? I mean, you know, I'm
sure it's a long one, butgive us just kind of the highlights of
(10:24):
how that transpired. Yeah, itwas really long journey, really long journey.
And you know, originally I comefrom Turkish part of Iran called East
Azerbaijan and grow up in a reallyreligious family. As you know, for
over forty years, Iranian people, special women have lived under operation. And
(10:45):
living in such a close country, you will never be able to explaence the
freedom. So only dream that Ihad was to achieve freedom, and so
only solution was hard working and beable to study in European university. And
yeah, finally after a very hardworking and from the old and fair law
(11:09):
against the woman, I got admissionin Carliska Institute, one of the best
medical institute in Sweden in field ofneuroscience, and then I continued my study
in field of cancer research. Itwasn't easy also migration from the country like
Iran to the Sweden, so Istructed everything from the scratch. So first
(11:35):
three years it was like I neverfeel this freedom. But you know one
thing I will never never forgot,Like my first feeling of freedom when I
find the private league. It waslike nobody there. I just take off
all my clothes and then jump.I love it. And you know,
(11:56):
as a woman in Iran you canswim in the even with bikini in the
open sea. So it was myfirst time, like my body filled every
drop of lake water and it wasa magical feeling, you know, I
become a part of the lake. And then at that time I just started
to shock. I am free.I love it. I love it so
(12:20):
and in that moment I realized, like my goal in my life it's freedom.
Then I started looking all the waysto give myself this feeling like I
start to travel, explore the ward, and then I start to kaisurfing,
and then combining my travels and kaistering, it was like, wow, amazing,
and that's awesome. And you know, and here's the thing. Good
(12:41):
for you for sticking with it andhanging in there and not giving up,
not quittin. I'm sure. Well, like you said, it was tough.
And but look at you now,I mean, now you're you're a
business owner and you've got this magnificentuh uh you know, adventure vacation company.
I think that's that's outstanding. Andkudos to you. Congratulations for that.
Thank you, thank you very much, thank you. Yes, that's
(13:03):
very impressive me as our woman, get very emotional hearing your history, because
sometimes we take for granted the freedomwe have in the places we can have
freedom. Here in Brazil, ofcourse, we are free, but not
as much as people in Europe orUnited States because of the social and security
(13:26):
problems. But I know how hardcan be for women in general in places
like you grow up and how hardyou work it to make your best and
make the life be better for you. So that's very inspiring for everyone who
(13:48):
are in the same situation you areand for our girls in the free world
as well, So Corregulation for everythingyou have done. Thank you. And
I have freedom for anyone to getthis feeling like it's amazing. It's really
amazing to be f Yeah. Imean, as I told you, we
(14:13):
take freedom for granted. So whenyou are raised with no freedom and then
you feel that the first time,it is the feeling you want to feel
forever, and you want to makepeople feel that as well. So I
can understand why you related so wellwith kite surfing. And once I said
(14:35):
that, what else attracts you tokite surfing over other sports? Yeah,
like this amazing feeling of flying overthe water, feeling the wind in your
face and feeling freeze simply undefinable. So I can give you some reason why
(14:58):
kite surfing. So one you willbe out in the nature on the fresh
air for almost all the day.You will stimulate all your happy hormones in
your body, which will stay inyour body for several days. You will
get super fit. We thought younot take it, and you don't need
(15:20):
to go to gym and do hardworking. You can get muscles like very
easily without any effort. Like that, you will throw the most exotic places
in the world. Five you willmake new friends all around the world,
get the new like knocko peoples, local food like local cultures. Six you
(15:41):
will sharn it yourself with other happypeople because all the characters for their happy
people. Seven you will keep pushingyour boundaries because the sky is only limits.
I say, no limit. Andthen one very important things like like
chi surfing. Besides like health benefitmental benefit, it's also give like made
(16:07):
you more smarter. So this likecartrophing, is more stimulate, like all
the growth factor in your brain. And then also like improve your memory and
thinking skills because when you're training yourbody and body balance, you train also
your brain. So that's really likeamazing. So you can just switch your
question. Why not kait surfing?Everybody does look like a happy person when
(16:36):
every picture that I see a happydon't they? Right now, I'm feeling
down because I don't quite scarf.I need car turvy right now. But
just yeah, sorry, go ahead, Sorry what did you say? Sorry?
(16:57):
No, you just do just comefor just come and then the cut
surfing and learn cutsurfing. Yeah, and then you're living in Brazil, so
why note Issier, Right, yeah, I mean I am not kidding,
but I'm quite off kidding because Ifound that feeling of freedom in the mountains.
(17:18):
I'm a mountaineering and a rock climber, and the feeling I feel is
like I need to make people feelthat too. So I totally understand why
you make this company happen. Andwe have a little break right now,
but we will be back soon,so don't go away, okay, I
(17:42):
don't want. A few years ago, someone asked ru the biggest owner,
Darren Bush, Hey, how longhave you guys been selling boats? Darren
replied, we don't sell boat es. We sell time on the water.
(18:03):
Of course, that comes in alltypes. We help people paddle more safely
with rudebiga outdoor programs. We rentcanoes, kayaks, and stand up paddle
boards. We sell and install racksto get you from home to adventure.
Rudabega's got everything you need to getyou out on the water, like paddles,
life jackets, dry bags and clothing. Rudebega paddlesports on the web at

D Luthpack is handcrafted for every lifestyle, making memories since eighteen eighty two,
in store at three sixty five CanalPark Drive, or online at the
luthpack dot com. We are onebig family, a community of tattlers,
and we want to make sure thateveryone has a great time out on the
(19:45):
water. We are made right herein part of Tennessee at USA. This
is where every Jackson Kayak is born. You'll buy him with a focus on
innovation. We are jack and Kayak. We are we are. We are
Jackson and Kaye. We are,we are Jackson, jo we are we
are Jackson kat Heah and We're backwith me and ericson our guest. You're
(20:15):
an outdoors people, I'm just infact, I didn't say to you what
I just set your message and hitthe good cent. I had a couple
of cool comments here. I wasjust like looking on the side, you
know what, you can put themup. I'm gonna go read him here.
Let's see there we go. Yeah, I love this wild Brains and
I pronounced her name first name, but maybe a yeah, there's another one
(20:41):
and maybe that's the one I waslooking at. Yeah, but anyway,
I thought that was very cool, and I thought, well, let's put
there a comment. She's such asmart girl and also so talented. Absolutely
absolutely absolutely, Well, let meask you this here, you do some
really cool kitesurfing trip kitesurfing trips, and you offer these like they're kind of
(21:07):
a vacation package. Am I correctwhen I say that? Is that what
you'd call them? Yeah, it'slike, you know, like we're not
really really like your travel agency, but we are a kind of family and
welcome people to the home and thenlike caf we invite them for to experience
different adventures and made of food. These adventures wings surfing and kite surfing.
(21:32):
Yeah, so that's another thing I'mjust going to ask you, like,
you know, walk us through atrip, and I know you go to
many different places in the world somevery cool places. In fact, I'm
just looking here, you've got aChristmas trip coming up, and I yeah,
I purposely left two weeks of thisshow blank open at the end of
(21:52):
the year because IM thinking I'd liketo go somewhere for Christmas. Now a
couple, I will be happy tobe your host. Loved it with you
guys, Okay, you know maya, let's do it, man. I
mean, you know, we justtell our families. Hey, maybe next
year we'll get together. But I'mgoing to go somewhere trapical. Oh wow,
it's a cool trip too. Iwas just looking at this thing and
(22:15):
people check this out. I mean, how would you like to spend Christmas
in a very cool remote part ofthe world. It's just beautiful and your
kite surfing and you have this wonderfullady as your host, your guide.
I mean, man, I doesn'tget any better than and not a beer
commercial doesn't get any better than that. But walk us through like a typical
let's just say, well, let'sjust say here this Christmas trip that's coming
(22:38):
up, where will people and tellus where you're going? Tell us where
this trip is at, what kindof you know, facility you're going to
be staying at I mean, isit going to be the Ritz Carlton or
are you going to be in insomeone's home. Just walk us through a
little bit of that for a coupleof minutes, if you would. Yeah,
it's a Christmas concept. It's likeyou like you you know, I
(23:00):
work it. I was been inMarcius before and then I worked with Kaiti
School, and then they come inwith this idea to build a big katamaran
like forty two feet but this katamaranit's just a special build for kait surfing
concept and it's completely mustless. Andthen they powered by two big engine and
(23:21):
then big very huge kite. Sothis is like I think it's the first
time in the world they build thiskind of kite only for kaie surfing reasons.
So we will live in a verybeautiful panthers front of the ocean.
You have a nice beach view. And then we will have this katom aroun
(23:41):
front of the school Kaiti School, which will take us to different part of
the islands. And this like MauriciusIsland is very beautiful. And then they
have a lot of small small islandswhich is which is like I cannot explain.
It's like a bit breaking amazing amazingamazing nature. Oh, it was
like super beautiful. And then wewill like hunting the vinds and find the
(24:07):
best sports to cuttterping. And thenwe have also like a beginner package.
I also offered the Black Friday forlike one day free listens, so we
will have all day podcaster, ringfoiling free listens. If you have a
deal, that's a great deal.Yeah yeah, I'm sorry, Mike,
(24:27):
go ahead, go ahead, No, please go ahead. Well I was
just going to ask, so whenyou okay, So what about accommodations,
like like you know your meals andwhere do you stay things like that.
How does that work? Yeah?I always like include everything, so it
was more easy, like you justyou just buy your ticket and just come
(24:49):
to airport. So we will comeand then take you and then the rest
of the traveling with us. Sowe will do a lot of activity like
when it's you know, I amlike adventurement people, so it's not only
character thing. If it's not wing, we want to do wakeboarding. We
want to like electric foiling and snorkeling. You know, the island is beautiful,
(25:15):
really really beautiful underwater, so youshould very cool or diving if you
like. And then I feel lucky. We can see walls. It's a
lot of dolphins hiking. They havelike mounting like you know Maya loveing,
and then like we have like it'sit's the top called like five five top
(25:37):
of the I think it's one ofthe worldst famous climbing spots. I think
you will love it. You ohmy gosh. Yeah. And like all
mills, it will be ecologist meal. And then like only I don't offer
alcohol because I cannot say I don'tlike alcohol, but you can have access
(26:03):
to buy the alcohol. Yeah.Cool, that's very cool because it is
for everyone. I mean, ifyou have a company and you have nowhere
to go, you just sign up. Or if the person doesn't know how
to make a trip happen, youknow, like organize a trip. You
(26:25):
you have a solution or even thoughfor people who has anyone to travel with
have a solution as though. Sothat that's the very mean, that's for
everyone who wants to enjoy some goodtime a new place and explore exploring outdoors,
exports. That's that's really impressive. But if I want to go,
(26:51):
uh and I don't know how tokite surf, and I don't know anything
about water sports. I know howto swim, Can I go as well?
You require some level or experience ofkite surfing. Okay, So like
people like like ask like you,it's like they can learn chulter thing.
(27:12):
It's difficult or like you know, you don't need any experience to be in
the chulturing trip, like you notat all, because you can learn character
thing in three days and some peoplein two days. So it's this is
this like this is sport is likelike wind powered sport. It's not like
(27:33):
as wave surfing, like when youdo the surfing and the wave you need
power, you need kind of musclesin the body to be able to swim
against the wave. But kite surfingthe you use the wind power. So
and then like it's a kind ofbutter sport using kite board and move across
the water. So all our tripswe collaborated with the best kiti school in
(27:57):
the world. So dinner or welcometo try and learn this amazing sports.
So and it's never late to startsurfing is a lot of fun. And
then if you come, we willlike explain to you why surfing is right
for you and your inner balance. So no more excuse, get ready and
(28:21):
jump on the sport and book mytrip. Very not very good? Why
not? Right? Absolutely, that'sa great idea. Yeah, you know,
Maya, I could see us doingthis and bringing the cameras like we
did. You have so many otherplaces. If we can climb a mountain
or climb a well, wasn't amountain, but we can climb a rock
wall and shoot video. I thinkwe can. I think we can do
(28:44):
it for the kaite. What doyou think, right? I yeah,
you don't need to bring the camera. We will offer also a video and
then during to take a movie andphoto and better yeah, even better.
I love Okay, bring your TVteam. So yeah, that's what I'm
saying. I love it. Ilove the hell with them just gonna be
(29:06):
by and I We're got to leavethe crew, leave the crew behind.
We'll just but you know something,we should uh invite Roomy because she's front
Turkey as well, and she wasour cameraman the less strip for Aruba and
we had a great time and shewas a fantastic camera person too. We
(29:26):
would just speak Turkish. She speaksbetter English than I do for guests stakes.
Yeah, I mean, let meask you this, what give us
a real quick We've got some photoswe gotta look at. We'll run a
little bit written up and talk withsome time here and we're gonna do a
commercial break. But give us justa quickly a price range of what people
(29:47):
could expect to pay for a kitesurfing adventure trip kind of like you know
the ones. Just give us anaverage you know what your charge? You
know, Like I always like tosay, like it's two kind of the
people in this world, the peoplewho have a lot of money and then
they don't know how to enjoy thelife, and people they don't have too
much money and that they believe theyshould have money to enjoy the life.
(30:11):
So like I offer like different kindof activities even sometimes free activity for the
people just enjoy the life. Somy troubles can be like very like luxury
trip and around like two thousand, twenty two thousand, like not too even
(30:33):
like two thousand dollars. It's nottoo much for the luxury trip, like
I offer for the all in Killycyveand penthouse catamaran, it's not too much.
And also I have some kind ofbackpack like economy trip I will like
offer in the future. So andalso like tell to people have to save
money to have like buy the equipmentlike equipment. It's for the beginner.
(31:00):
If you just buy some secondhand stuff, it will cost like around one thousand
USDA for all equipments. So yeah, it's not too much, No,
I think I think that's a veryreasonable price. To be honest with you.
I have done some trips and therethey are a lot more expensive than
what your your trips are. Andhonestly, what you're offering sounds amazing.
(31:21):
And you've just uh, you justserved me an appetizer for this trip.
So I am pretty close to justsaying I'm going to go on this trip.
Yeah, we have just to know, we have only four sports left,
so right, we'll be talking rightafter this show then because we need
to get those spots. Yeah, absolutely, so take it away. Oh
(31:44):
well, we are going to alittle break, but don't go await because
we have sent up pictures to lookup after good. A few years ago,
someone asked Rudebega's owner Darren Bush,Hey, how long have you guys

yes, And oh I think youknow you know where it's this place?
(35:09):

new to the city. Oh,I didn't get down to the boat club.
That's why. That's why you shouldfollow me. I just want right.

(36:59):
Mango. So that's just a verynice, beautiful place. They have like
a beach house as well, likeit's called the Mango Beach House and it's

the sailing boat. So it wasalso a really nice experience looking in this
picture think I mean thinking, man, I wish I were there right now.

when I see the sun, Ijust get crazy, like here we don't

the boogie like only you can findbogie in the vers I love it.
That looks like you out here inthe country with but we have a lot
(38:51):

I think working working as a culturephotographing, it's like not easy. You
should be a really good hunter tohunt the moment because you do like very
fast. You're in a high speed, so the photograph should be able to
catch the moment. What are thesepeople when they're taking your pictures? What
(40:45):
are they on? I mean onlike a little boat or what are they
on? No, they're just inthe water. So this is like you
that's why you should have in shallowwater otherwise like a photography. But yeah,
I think it's a lots of todo with the boat, but it's
very dangerous, like for for photography, it's very very dangerous to just wouldn't
(41:07):
be any fun if it weren't dangerous. Absolutely uba yeah, oh cool.
Yeah, looks like with the watercolor. But some places you go are
(41:30):
that beautiful. So yeah, theyhad a very big waves. So playing
with the waves is always like alot of fun. You know, you
got you got a lot of adrenalinein the body when you play with the
waves. Oh my gosh, Ican picture. I do also like sailing,

the summer I also do this activitybring the people for one day sailing experience.
Very cool mm hmm yeah the Rockstarthat's the backside of the Sports Illustrated
(42:13):
