(01:07):
H A L. And the numbernine. Where it came from, God
knows, but I'm stuck with it. But that's where I am. We'll
figure that out one day. Oneday, I'm gonna get to the bottom
of it because it just drives menuts. And today us to look at
this one. Yeah, you're likethat number, but hey, I gotta
tell you, man, Miami GPtoday Formula one. We are on the
(01:30):
grid today for some great racing.I can't wait. I'm excited. The
place looks amazing. It's a threepoint four mile nineteen turn, eleven pedestrian
bridges, one gondolo ride, eightor nine yachts out there, two pools
and a beach the place. Igotta give props to Stephen Ross, one
of the owners of the Dolphins thereand the whole ownership group, because they've
(01:53):
really put on a great show.It looks awesome on TV. Now.
There are some things that we'll learnbehind the scenes that you know, as
a first event, but a massiveevent, and I think they've really it's
gonna come off great today on television, which you can watch at three thirty
pm Eastern time on ESPN, Somake sure you check that out. I
(02:15):
know there's a couple you know theNASCAR fans have a race going on at
the same time, But I'm tellingyou you were going to want to turn
in and watch this F one racetoday in Miami. It's it's going to
be a special event. What areyour thoughts there, Well, my thoughts
are probably twofold one. You've gotthe drivers complaining, which is what they're
(02:36):
supposed to do. Drivers complain, right, I mean Wand said that in
his interview last show. Yeah, and he was right. You know that's
the absolute truth. Always complain aboutis it a dirty track, is it
a technical track? What? Youknow? What's going on? Well,
this is the first race of hopefullymany races in Miami, and I think
(02:57):
according to one Probablventoria, they didit. And all the drivers are saying
they love the track layout, butthey're complaining about dust, dirt, that
type of thing. What's the cleanline? Is there only one line?
How? You know? How arewe going to get around this track?
They're race car drivers, man, they racing the rain. You're racing the
rain in an F one car.You better know what you're doing. And
(03:21):
you know, you can complain allyou want, but you've been given a
track to drive that is a relativelysafe track. It's a little it's difficult.
It's had some difficulties with you know, the surface, uh you know,
but with the supply chain issues andthings like that that we've go got
going on globally, how would theyhave imported what they need? You know
(03:44):
what what you know F one wouldwant them to use. So they use
the local feeling. That was partof the dealing. Use local stuff,
use local people, and hey,we'll go along with it. I'm sure
that's in that those contracts somewhere. There's no doubt about that. I'm excited
(04:05):
because, like I said, theyreally made the streets of Miami look really
nice. And when I say that, it's literally the parking lot of I
mean, look, this is whatit looked like before. It's just they
see of cars parked outside. Andwhat they have done is amazing and made
all this around that same spot, which is incredible what they've done, I
(04:30):
mean, it really does look good. Now I'm gonna bring on a special
guest here today because we're gonna betalking about the F one GPN and we
have a driver who's visited down there. Jordan Taylor joins us on the line.
Jordan Welcome to Cooks and Cars RaceDay Nation edition. Appreciate you coming
on with us. Yeah, thanksfor having me up. First of all,
Happy Mother's Day to your mom outthere, and we appreciate all the
(04:54):
moms. Yes of course, yes, yes, it's next door, so
I'll be popping over shortly. Ohwell, that unfortunate for her. Better
of delivered flowers or something. Man, just from an old guy to a
young guy, just do it,I mean, otherwise you end up,
as you know, getting thrown tothe back. Yeah all right. So
(05:16):
Jordan, you were out there atthe event, the Miami GP, got
to go down there as a guestand a race fan. What were your
thoughts out there, one as adriver and then the second as a as
a race fan. Yeah, Imean it was my first ever Formula One
race, so I was taking alot in kind of understanding how all the
different passes of work to get intodifferent areas. It's definitely very restricted in
(05:38):
certain areas. You see paddocks.Paddock areas so kind of prestigious and you
only see drivers and media people backthere. But it was nice to get
back into the sea. All thedrivers are pretty much just running around,
so they're not getting stopped by youknow, photographers or autographs, but the
layout itself, as you were you'retalking about as spectacular, it was hard
(06:00):
to believe. I had never seenit before there was a race track there,
so for me walking in there,it just felt like it was a
purpose built racetrack and facility. Everythingseemed permanent. It didn't seem like everything
was going to be taken away onMonday and the kind of put in storage
for next year. So on thatpoint of view, it was very impressive
the thing that they just popped itup in a couple of months and it's
(06:20):
going to be gone and probably undera couple of weeks. I'd say as
a fan, it was difficult tosee a lot of the racetrack from like
viewing points. The best places tokind of watch where if you were just
a walking around fan, was tokind of walk around the stadium itself and
get views from up high. Ithink most of the tickets that were sold
(06:42):
for you know grand stands or youknow suites, they've got views of certain
corners. But I think another one, one item that I would have liked
to see a little bit more of, which would have just been more screens
and things that actually kind of followthe event of what was going on track
and not just kind of seeing whatwas happening around you. But I'm sure
those things will be ironed out.I'm sure they'll get plenty of complaints from
(07:03):
people of things, but I thinkfor the first year they've done an unbelievable
job with it. You agreed,Yeah, totally a question, you know
in road racing because I grew upin it too. Since nineteen fifty three,
the rays have been holy mole yearold. Sorry, well no,
I wasn't born yet. Okay, let me just let me clarify that.
(07:26):
But walking around as part of theexperience, is there a room for the
fans to move around and to beable to go from corner to corner and
see things. Some pinners in thestreet race, so some corners are not
gonna you know, you won't beable to see anything. But how did
you do that? I think someareas are going to be very difficult to
get to. I think you canwalk around a lot of the track and
(07:48):
cross. Like you said, there'seleven bridges to kind of cross, um,
so you can't get around. Itjust takes a long time. The
track, it's pretty spread out,so you're gonna be doing a lot of
walking. It was also like ninedegrees, so most people were trying to
stay in some shade or find abreeze somewhere, So kind of getting up
high the stadium itself was kind ofcool because that was kind of open.
(08:11):
All the vendors on the stadium. We're open like on level three, so
you could just walk around up there, hear the cars, take a peek
over the ledge and kind of seepart of the track, but kind of
going corner by corner. I thinkthey have a lot of it sectioned off
for the actual hospitalities, so peoplehave to have a special pass to kind
of get in those areas. SoI think if you're just a random fan
hoping to walk from corner to corner, like a Laguna Seca or a road
(08:35):
America, you won't have that kindof access there. That should do so,
you know, frankly, they wereracing a lot here in America,
and if they can do something aboutthat, I think it would go a
long way. I mean, obviouslyit's explodes, but I think it's also
benefiting all racing in America. Itjust I agree with Jeff Gordon's statement that
(08:58):
you know even nass Car will benefitfrom it. I think that's an important
thing. Bill France Senior himself saidopen wheel. NASCAR needs open wheel because
one benefits the other. I meanthat that's pretty prophetic. And you know,
he was a pretty smart guy fromjust being an old school and I
(09:20):
agree with him. I think youneed him both. But it's when you
hit a street race like this, the excitement is there. I'm sure you
could you could see it. Imean, what was your I gotta actually
have a question for you that I'vebeen asked a lot, and I want
to be able to ask it froman active, you know, front running
(09:41):
driver. Can you explain to ourfans exactly what is a technical track?
Yeah? I mean I think thebest example was probably Sebastian Vettal was qualifying
through that like Titan tell I'm atleast that Titan technical. But I guess
like a technical section is where likeif you look at this track behind me,
(10:03):
like Seabring, like if you messup this corner, you're going to
be messing up this corner, solike you have to plan like so far
ahead that you can't just focus onthe corner right in front of you like,
if you went as fast as possiblethrough this corner to make up two
tents, he'd probably be losing likehalf a second in the next one because
you're trying to set up for thenext one. So when you look at
(10:26):
this track, that super tight sectionon the backside, Vettel said, like,
oh, I messed up the chicaneand he lost two tents. But
if you watch the video, hegot like a tiny bit wide in the
first one, which kind of compromisesexit through the second one, which then
led onto a straight So if youjust watched it and you only watch that
two corner sequence, you'd think hedid it fine. But if you then
(10:48):
see like the exit of that secondone led onto a long straight away,
then you'd understand that maybe he compromisedthe second corner where he should have been
compromising the first. So when Ihear technical, you're like a lot of
In my mind, it's a lotof compromise and you're driving and what you
need to do to kind of benefitthe overall a time rather than just one
corner itself. That's how I wastaught. I mean, it's like writing
(11:11):
a bad check, you know,it catches up with you. So you're
basically setting up your entry to aseries of turns so that you come out
under the straight fastest or you're ableto set up a pass. So I
mean that's how I was taught.Yeah, so you know that's a that's
a simple and succinct explanation, andI appreciate it. Well, I gotta
(11:33):
I learned something in this segment.I learned that if you mess up one
corner, you're gonna you know, screw up the next couple and lose some
time. And Rahul writes, badchecks. That's what I've learned on the
show. All Right, we're talkingto Jordan Taylor, our guest today obviously
driver at that number three corvet.Man, how's your season going in the
(11:54):
INSA and uh, you know withthe gtds and the new setup they kind
of have with the clouds and allthat. How's that working out this year
for you guys? Yeah, it'sbeen up and down. I'd say,
like Daytona and Laguna were a bitof a struggle. Seabring we won,
which was great, and the LongBeach we had the poll and finished third.
So we've had two good ones, two not so good ones. But
(12:16):
yeah, we still have. Ithink six races left in the season were
second to the point, so sofar, so good. We still have
kind of a lot to learn,I think with this new class structure and
kind of morphing our car into aGT three spec, kind of putting abs,
adding the weight and then the differenttire has been the biggest thing to
kind of learn. So it's beenkind of an interesting process to understand,
(12:37):
like how the engineers are kind ofgoing about kind of redesigning the car around
these new pieces that we have tokind of work with. But the big
benefit I think is just having youknow, more cars in the class to
race with. It's fun to getback to battling where the last couple of
years in GTLN we only had youknow, three to six cars at any
given race. So the competition isnice to have. What about the balance
(13:00):
of power, I mean it seemslike they almost invariably go after you know,
the Corvette team, you know forBOP. I mean, you know
which kind of drives me insane everyrace. Something different. Let's throw us,
you know, let's restrict this car, let's do this, let's do
that, so it's more even Um, how's that meant for you? So
(13:22):
far. Yeah, it's been frustratingwith anybody under the bus, Yeah,
I mean it's definitely frustrating. Ithink you ask any team that's getting you
know, penalized, they're gonna sayit's frustrating. Um, Like Daytona,
we didn't really have much of achance to compete Seabring. We won,
but we didn't have the fastest carand then we got it got hurt for
Long Beach and that's just frustrating becausewe knew at Seabring we just executed a
(13:46):
very good race. If you lookedat like the total pit stop time,
we spent the least time in thepits. Our last stop was like ten
seconds shorter than the Lamborghini that finishedsecond, and they end up finished finishing
six seconds behind us. So ifyou just do the math, they would
have ended up, you know, with us or ahead of us. So
we felt like that race wasn't arace that we won on you know,
(14:07):
pure speed and bounce a performance. It was more of an execution from our
point of view. So those thoseones are frustrating to kind of understand where
you get penalized from. But atthe same time they're they're doing their best
to kind of make it as evenas possible, and it's our job to
kind of just do the best jobwe can with with the tools we have.
So Laguna was definitely frustrating. Wequalified like thirteenth behind six amateurs,
(14:33):
which wasn't great. So hopefully headingto walk into Glenn in a couple of
weeks will be in better shape.Do you know those six amateurs were going
you know who we beat this weekend? Yeah? Yes, sometimes that's really
I mean they call them amateurs, but you know these guys number one,
if you know, you'd call alot of the drivers or the co drivers
(14:56):
gentlemen drivers. If we weren't forthem, we wouldn't have them, so
we wouldn't have words car racing,So hats off to them. Great,
But some of these that are classifiedas amateurs really are pretty good. Yeah,
I mean, you know the waythat the structure is. I know,
my cousin, Sean ray Hall, you know, he's like locked into
(15:16):
that gold status or gold that hecan't get dropped back, you know,
to where he can get more seedtime. So that's yeah, the reason
he's running sprint cars right now.Yeah, The licensing is definitely created a
lot of controversy just in that aspect. If you get pushed up to a
license, then you lose a bunchof opportunities. And if they would kind
(15:39):
of make a mistake and put someoneas a silver when there should be a
gold, then they're called a supersilver and they're too fast for that kind
of class and they're racing an actualgentleman driver, then it's not fair for
that actual gentleman to be racing somekid who's a superstar in the making.
So yeah, definitely, definitely adifficult spot. Yeah, I wouldn't want
(16:00):
to be John Dune in our boat, right yeah, right now, I
mean that's stuff for them. Yeah, we're talking to Jordan Taylor. I'm
Robbed Demiko, Michelle ray All.This is Cooks and Cars Raced in Nation
edition. You can check us outonline at raced in Nation dot com also
cooks and Cars dot com. AndI know you're a big egghead. You
got a big greenegg cooking on thatyou and your brother always. I think
(16:21):
it's a Tuesday wings. Is thatwhat we're doing still where we still got
that little tradition going on. It'snot every Tuesday anymore, but we did
do one two weeks ago. Um. We actually we tried some new crazy
hot sauce. Oh we just triedone one awing and we were out for
like fifteen minutes, rough lyne atthe bathroom. Yeah, man, you
(16:45):
don't do you just don't do thehot stuff anymore. Yeah, like just
in case. Oh yeah, there'sa lot of it, so milk exactly.
Yeah. We love we love theeggs and the whole thing with the
egg which is hilarious to me becauseI've I've known everybody a big green egg
(17:07):
for you for years and it's likea cult. You know. It's like
going to a street corner. Hey, man, are you olden? You
know you gotta beizza. You gota pizza slam, you know. I
mean it's it's insane. He he. Rob and Montoya swap recipes and there's
no doubt in my mind you're doingthe same thing. Yeah, oh yeah
(17:30):
for sure. Yeah. So yeah, it's funny that you you mentioned that
the cold thing, because at theI think it was Ricky when he was
at the Petite lamall a couple oftimes people would bring them sauces because they
talked about it all the time.I've got to try this one. Yeah,
it's awesome. I mean it isa cult. I mean I remember
Montoya was posting like some of hismeats that he was cooking, and then
(17:52):
I videoed Rickey cooking. We've gotlike a little rotistry for Pecania meat and
it would like rotate and would justsliced off and you like as you go,
and I'm on Toy bought one ofthe roads hisstory things and he was
doing it. So everybody's going turoscat. Yeah, it was really good.
Hey, I want to talk aboutsomething. There was a tweet out and
you kind of responded to it aboutbeing the second favorite son in the family.
(18:17):
Yeah, talk about that situation andwhat happened. I mean, it
was just from my point of view, it was just racing on track.
And then with this new class wehave abs, which I don't love having
having abs. I just think it'sa tool that shouldn't really be in professional
racing. Um, so we havethat and that creates such a weird situation
(18:40):
on like starts and restarts and tryingto pass. It just makes everyone so
aggressive because they know that they can'treally make mistakes. So we went on
the restart and I was right behinda Lexis and then I hit the brakes
and the system does everything for you, so I was breaking and then it
sense that the right front needed tolock, so it actually locked the right
front. I just slid right intothe BMW and it felt like a pretty
(19:03):
big hit. So I was gonnaapologize when I got out, and they
were still leading when when I gotout in their class, so as I
got at least it didn't break anything. And then I checked Twitter and their
Twitter was just going crazy about me, like not very nice. So I
decided I'm not gonna go apologize nowlike I would have gotten apologize, but
now they've just taken it a littlebit too far. But I guess that's
(19:26):
just their sense of humor. Sowhen I just made a video to react
to it, to kind of saylike, hey, like I don't really
care what you say. I'll justmake something funny out of it. Basically,
Yeah, if you want to driverrage, I mean that that one
was one that I never never thoughtwould creep back and you know, creep
(19:47):
into auto racing, but it did. Yeah, and I agree with you
one hundred percent. Man, ifyou can't do it with your foot,
yeah you can't, you know, meter yourself and no when to hit the
brakes, no to modulate that pedal, you know, no one to set
somebody up, and if you're lockingup be able to back out and get
it to catch again. It's justit, it just doesn't have a place
(20:10):
there for me. In my opinion. I'm just I'm a dinosaur. That's
that. I agree. I likeold school stuff way more than what we
have. That's what like when Isay like um like with the gentleman drivers
and the amateurs. That's what makesthe racing so frustrating because now you take
a guy that isn't fully up todate on all of his skill sets,
(20:32):
and he can just if you wantto try pass him, he'll just break
as late as he possibly can andjust basically stand on the pedal to hold
you behind him. But if hedidn't have abs, there's a zero percent
chance he'd be trying to hold youoff as hard as he is because he
knows if he pushed a little bittoo hard, he'll be off the track.
So's it's a lot like LMP three. LMP three with the steel breaks,
(20:53):
I believe, and none of thedriver rage and that LMP two has
from what Sean has told me,it's much harder to drive the LMP three
car than the LMP two. Yeah, I mean you've driven. I think
you've driven LMP two, but Ithink you've also done DPI, I believe,
(21:15):
and it you just you know,it's one of those things where bring
the racing back to it, man, you know, just bring the actual
I'm with you, pure racing.Yeah. Yeah, I wouldn't hurt me
to shift manually either. Yeah, you know, make it harder for the
drive like they're making it easier andeasier, like that's why some of the
(21:36):
competition gets closer, but that's alsowhat's making it so hard to pass,
and no one's making mistakes anymore tocreate opportunities. So yeah, it's definitely
frustrating. When we're talking to JordanTaylor, he was at the Miami GP
obviously the driver of the number threeCorvette and MP's up. We appreciate him
coming on with us today and uh, you know, before we head out,
(22:00):
did you see anything special in thegarage that you thought, hey man,
this is really cool, like yougot you actually went through the garage.
You gotta I think some pictures ofyourself in the Alpine as they like
to call it um, but theAlpine garage there you got the Fonzi and
Chocci on the shirt. Yeah, yeah, I mean it was impressive to
(22:25):
see in person all the stuff thatthey have, like a million radio headsets.
It was impressive, like how theyset up for like VIPs and guests.
They definitely deal a lot with thosesituations because that whole section we were
sitting in was had like three threeTV screens, we had our own radios.
They're like ready to go. Andthen during qualifying its cycle like five
(22:47):
to ten people through each qualifying round, So it's impressive to see just the
logistics of a Formula One team andthen shoveling guests back and forth to the
to the hotel and to the track, and just there's so many moving parts
before you can kind of get tothe racetrack into the actual driving aspect.
We didn't get to see as muchof the technical side that I would have
(23:08):
liked to, but it was stillreally interesting. And even during qualifying,
grow on Alonzo's side, and thenit was getting too busy with guests,
so he moved us to Okon side, and he had crashed and practice and
they were rebuilding a new tub,so it was interesting to see kind of
the process behind the scenes of rebuildingthe car. It's not it's not it's
(23:30):
no longer a Chinese fire drill.I mean that was a joke in the
past. You know, the Ferrariwhen the Ferraris came into pit, it's
a Chinese fire drill. Everybody's runningeverywhere, going crazy. Now it's more
methodical and they're you know they've beenand I am interested in that process as
well. I would love to haveseen them put that tub back together and
(23:52):
exactly how they do that and tobe able to make you know, engine,
gearbox and the technical side. Thatwould be interesting. So I'd love
to see your pictures. I'm gonnafollow you on Instagram now posted damn things.
As soon as we got moved tookon side, some lady came running
over and my buddy who I waswith, I just had his GoPro hanging,
(24:14):
So you need to turn that offand put it on the ground,
Like don't you can't take yourself youcan't even take yourself one outlets. So
they were like very afraid of somepictures leaking. The industrial spie him.
That happened to us at Seabring theIndy cars were testing. I had a
guy filming who was a veteran filmguy. I mean, this guy,
did you know a rock Afghanistan? So he wasn't you know, he want
(24:41):
a big guy because giant camera. He's filming the Penske car and all of
a sudden they go they come overto him and say you can't do that,
and he said, just my ass. He said, I'm gonna do
anything I want, and I meanhe just kept rolling. So they ended
up having to put a big sheetup over the coile to keep my camera
man from going at it. Buthe was totally unafraid. This camera man.
(25:04):
I was intimidating as little as theguy was like maybe a little bigger
than me. I'm five to six, so you know everybody's bigger than me.
Yeah, that happened at with meexcept SOA yeah, he better be
(25:26):
a professional race card otherwise I ain'tgetting no dates, all right. I
gotta I'm I saw this on Instagramand I gotta clarify this because I didn't
go back and look, I justwas going through. Um, did you
make an announcement with between you andyour girlfriend or what's going on there?
What happened fast. Man. Wecame up like a cool caption that said
(25:49):
my number one plus one, likeshe was my favorite plus one the for
like weddings, and everybody thought.Everyone thought we were getting married and having
a baby. I swear I wasgoing through and it said plus one,
and I'm going I'm like, waita minute. I tried to go back,
but I already refreshed, so itwas like, wait a minute,
I totally lost here. Yeah,I was getting calls from all sorts of
people like congratulating me. I don'tknow what's going on. You might have
(26:14):
just set a big wheel in motion, man, because that's why I think
you can't take back. Lovely perceptionis everything. And yeah, you know
you might be under pressure. Youknow you might have to take one of
those you know, long weekends.Hey, being the second favorite kid,
did your dad ever teach you thebirds and bees? I just you know,
(26:36):
you know, you know how thisworks. I'm still waiting to hear
all right, man, Hey,enjoy the weekend. I hope you're watching
the F one race today should bea good one. And uh, where's
your where are you guys? Up? Next? For ms uh MS is
racing mid Ohio next weekend. Iwant our class as a race there though,
(26:57):
So they do mid Ohio and Detroitand then my next race will be
Lamar and then my next race willbe walking too. But I love him
Ohio. Yeah, it's a greattrack. Yeah, it was when Truman
was there, you know, whenhe was running it, and that that's
when I drove you know, Nissanat that track, a particular track,
(27:17):
and I uh that wrote Atlanta. Those were before the sheet. But before
they put you keep you keep bringingit up? How old? Hey,
before we go, I got anotherfamily member. You're distant cousin Rodney.
I saw you ran into him atthe race track. Talk about that experience.
(27:40):
Yeah, I don't think many peopleknew what was going home with that
one. And yeah, they definitelychecked his uh his passes a little bit
closer because they didn't. He doesn'tlook like a Formula one fan, I
don't think. So. It wasfun though, a lot of surprise how
many people knew actually who Rodney wasin that kind of world. It's funny
how all the racing world can kindof be sometimes. And the obviously he
(28:03):
ran into his all time favorite. He is a Jeff Gordon super fan,
and here he is. Here heis with his old buddy there. Yeah,
we actually saw Jeff twice yesterday. It was a lot of fun and
it was fun to talk to himabout the track and what he thought and
kind of thinking what he's like.NASCAR's feature with you know, possible street
(28:23):
course racing or more road courses.I think we're pretty cool. I hey,
listen, we're all for this streetcourse with NASCAR. We think that's
something that should be done and addedto it. If they're gonna add dirt,
then let's say add a street course. They already do more road racing,
which is great in my opinion, because they definitely needed road racing.
I think is is some of impsto me, you know imps, you
(28:45):
know Formula One. You know theseare you know, high end cars and
sports cars and it fits you know. We'll listen, we're older, we
get it, and we love that. I'm not sure with the new fans
how that works out, but uh, you know, with the different types
of cars in a car I canactually go and buy, that's pretty cool
to me. Yeah, I thinkso. And the racing on the road
course is always so good, soyeah it is. It's got always fectacular
(29:08):
finishes and battles. So yeah,I'm all for it. We'll say hi
to Rodney for us. Congratulations onthe baby. Yeah yeah, now you're
no pressure there, um neck, you know, just a real quick before
you go any predictions for today, given given it. You know you got
(29:30):
a lockout on the front row,but you got Verstrap and who've got yeah
almost no lapsing before qualifying and yefix it in third and he's right behind
Leclair. Yeah, I'm I'm lookingforward to I think, you know,
I don't know if the W Seriesraces were on TV, but um,
there were a bunch of yellows andlike safety cars, so I think that
(29:52):
could be a big factor. Itcould mix things up. But I think
Roys looks strong. Um, it'scool to see some other guys kind of
mixing it up the front as wellto kind of mix up the the kind
of midfield. But we were stoppingkind of get involved a little bit to
kind of make it interesting. CoolAll right, man, Well, thank
(30:12):
you very much for joining us thismorning. Go knock on the door next
door, say happy Mother's Day andenjoy your day. Man, All right,
take care. Jordan Taylor a greatguy. Man, I love.
Yeah, he's awesome. He's oneof those guys that you know, he's
a big egghead. Him and hisbrother have a lot of fun doing that.
(30:33):
And what the hell isn't a bigegg green egghead? You know that's
right. It's I was cooking onthose long before you know, we had
any relationship with him. And there'sjust nothing better there, really isn't.
I mean to a gourmet cook,to's somebody that really really wants to get
it right, especially you guys outthere. Man, this thing can go
(30:59):
from to what a thousand degrees totwo hundred. I mean, it's it's
insane what you can do with it. I don't suggest getting it that hot,
but yeah again, yeah, Imean that's pretty hot. But yeah,
you know, I mean you youliterally can do the Ruth Chris style
steak. You can do the youknow, all these different types much better.
Yeah, I mean, that's that'sthe whole thing with it is you
(31:21):
will never go out to eat again. There's no doubt about that. You
can cook the best food you've everimagined on a big green egg. And
all right, so um, there'sa couple things I want to bring up
before we go. You mentioned itwith the Ferraris with the lockout, but
for Stapping was definitely uh on.It had a little trouble on the track,
and that's I think with these someof these guys are complaining. But
(31:47):
still third, his teammate fourth, and then Boat toss s fipped. I
mean, these are some good cars, did a good job for having you
know, stuffed it into the wall. Yeah. Then you had Lewis,
Hamilton and Mercedes. So you've gotall these different manufacturers up there. Pere
ghastly in the Alpha tari Lando Norrisand the McLaren uh Yuki right there and
(32:10):
in Lance Stroll rounding out your top, which I was a little surprised because
he asked that Martins that are havingtrouble. But I really thought that Russell
was going to be up in thismix, and unfortunately he did not.
He was, he struggled, Hewas fast and practice three, but man,
when it came to the qualifying hewas not very good and had trouble.
(32:31):
You know what that that happens,I mean it does tracks change,
a set up changes. If youlook at the two Mercedes, both of
them made an what they called anexperimental change. I don't think going into
qualifying, you should make experimental changes, and I think Toto Wolf, you
(32:52):
know, came out and admitted that. But yeah, you gotta be careful
because these cars are infinitely adjustable.Whether it's Formula one, Indy car,
you know, even the small formulasor the GT cars, they're all infinitely
adjustable. And you know, that'ssomething that we can talk about our blog
(33:15):
about in the future. I thinkfor the fans, because we want to
do everything we can to deliver topeople the love that we have for the
sport, the sport in general, even if it's sprint cars. I'm still
interested, you know, and wewant to be able to give the fans
a good solid understanding of what they'reviewing, what's happening. I have an
(33:39):
eighty two year old neighbor and sheis now into Formula one and has never
ever watched any race in her lifeand now she's into F one. She's
a little of the demographic. Butyes, but that's happening. I thought,
that's so bizarre. You know, who to thunk it? You know,
(34:00):
that's right, maybe Musk. Thatis our lineup for the F one
race today. I do expect itto be a good race. I do.
I did watch the uh the women'shum A series they did have that
they did Yeah, so, um, I still I thought, I still
think I objected that. But nonethelessyou think they should if they're good enough,
(34:23):
they should race with the men andall that stuff. Yeah, I
don't think. I think it mightbe a good trainer, but I mean
the whole thing is it actually takeswomen and puts them in another, you
know, another category where that actuallyshouldn't be, um, you know,
swimming or whatever. You know, men versus women, the physicality is dramatically
(34:46):
different. And when you get intoa race car, I mean, I'll
give you an example. I playedbaseball in high school. I'm five six,
one hundred and thirty pounds, right, I'm not gonna to make it
as a short stop, you know, so I gave up the position.
And but when you get into aracing car, it's like putting a suit
(35:07):
on and everything gets really equal. So I'd beat the six foot at mister
athlete next to me and did.So you know that the same thing applies
to women. I see it asa good trainer series, but as soon
as they can get the hell outof it and into F three F four,
(35:29):
even if it's here in America.Whatever do it? Get out?
You know, one of the ladieshas two championships and she's stuck. Yeah,
so I mean, you know,I'd love to be able to do
anything, and we should do that. You know, we should get a
couple of the drivers, the femaledrivers from that W series on the air
(35:49):
and see what they think. Ithink that would be a societal conversation that
I think has meaning in today's currentclimate. You know, well, we'll
do a roundtable version of the show. We'll have Lynn Saint James on and
we'll have a couple of the driversfrom the W series. Yeah, and
have that and we'll do a littleroundtable. She's a groundbreaker, Yeah,
(36:12):
no doubt about that. Yeah. All right, Um, so anything else
before we head out. I knowthat in other F one news they had
the u F one owner, LibertyMedia, to purchase Vegas land for two
hundred and forty million dollars. It'sbasically thirty nine acres that the Pits in
the Paddock is going to sit on, and they decided that they're gonna buy
(36:36):
that land. So I'm sure there'sgonna be a permanent structure built there.
Maybe yeah, maybe do something elsewith that structure where it's a you know,
a gambling and you know, maybecasino or something hotel. Don't they
I mean, if you stop andthink that one through. I mean,
how many high rollers are coming intotown on an F one weekend? Good
(36:58):
lord? Uh, every casino inVegas will be vying for their to take
just take my money. You know, every one of them are going after
it. And if F one actuallycould get one on their grounds, because
you know, I think they're prettyagnostic when it comes to things like that.
Nascar a lot less. You know, there were more no gambling on
(37:22):
our you know site. It hasto be offsite that type of thing.
I'm not sure if one feels thesame way F one ching ching, you
know. Yeah, I think NASCAR'scome a long way with that. They
do allow it now, and nowthey actually talk odds on the on the
race day shows and all that stuff, and they do giveaways and and and
(37:43):
some things like that with the twentyfive thousand dollars and you have to get
a few of these questions right, and who's gonna get the finishing order correct?
And there are some things that they'redoing and they have opened it up
a little bit because listen, it'sa big market, and people do I'm
not I'm not a gambler. I'mnot. Oh you and me both.
Yeah. I was the guy thatwould walk in at the black at,
(38:05):
not the black jack, the hwhat do you throw when you throw the
dice? Craps. I'm the guywho's new. So all the guys,
the sharks that know this, there'ssomething about the new people that show up.
They're lucky. So I'm there andI'm throwing these dice and all of
a sudden, all these people aresurrounding. I'm winning money, and no
(38:30):
sooner than I'm up like two thousanddollars, I go down to zero and
it's like you what, No?I did? The stay was zero and
then I was a zero zero youcan escorted out of the casino area.
Wait wait, what are you doing? Yeah? Break guy. That seriously
(38:51):
happened to me as well. Wewent there. I got on the craps
table. I was rolling hot.All the guys were like, oh yeah,
yeah, yeah, you know, they were throwing money, they were
tip me. I was like,oh, this is always crazy. And
then I lost and I had nofriends. Zero. You're going I mean,
it's just hilarious. I don't knowwhat there's a name for that,
you know, and I don't knowwhat it is. But the new guy
(39:13):
that shows up, sucker, Yeah, the new new person that shows up
at the table, that's some kindof a good luck or you know it's
gonna happen, so let's get moneyon him. I have no idea,
didn't have a clue to what Iwas doing. I didn't care. I
had a blast anyway. It wasfun. Listen. I go in there
knowing, Okay, I have afew hundred bucks here. If I lose
(39:34):
it, I lose it. Andthat's all I'm doing. I lost nothing
because it was a convention and I'vemet a couple of these girls that were
wing walkers. I'm talking these chicksgot out on the wings of these airplanes
and did all these stunts without tables, and I'm like, that's my kind
of girl. So let's just putit this way. I don't care about
(39:59):
the money. I ended up winningin the end. Let's let's check the
balance you have. Yeah, heyman, I'm ready for today's race.
I got some Cuban cigars ready togo for today. Look, I got
I got a Monte Cristo a bandCuban I got. Is it a monte
Cristo number two? It is apetite tupost Okay, let me I'll put
(40:22):
out here for you. That's itright there. Let me put this thing
out and then uh, I dohave a Romeo and Julieta uh this one.
Uh. These are my smokes fortoday. Nice ones. Yeah.
I love smoking a good cigar everynow and then. I love the Hemmingway
short stories. But you can't getthem. I mean, you know,
(40:44):
there's small, small cigars, that'swhy they call it a short story.
But you just can't get them there. It's like everybody boys them out by
the boxfull. I mean, I'min Tampa, Florida, cigar capital of
the United States, right and ifyou can't get and that here's where Flentes
order I mean ebor cities called cigarcity it is, I mean it is.
(41:04):
All those buildings are all ex cigarfactories. Yeah, you can get
when these old ladies that work thoseyou know, worked in those factories.
You know, later on you canget them the custom roll and it's like
so much cheaper than going you know, and and buying the name. But
these ladies can roll these cigars andit's out the best tobacco. It's the
(41:27):
same same stuff. It's it's it'sreally it's well. Here, here's the
thing with you know, the Cubancigars that are actually true Cubans from Cuba,
is that the tobacco is different, the the soil is different. They
tried to take that and bring itto Nicaragua and you know, the dominic
but it's I gotta tell you,man, it's close. It's close because
(41:47):
those are the same seeds and they'redoing pretty good with it. I mean,
but yeah, yeah, you canfind a good cigar in those regions,
but you do. You can tella difference of a smooth smoke that
you get in the taste and theflavor that you have from Cuba, which
is really good. And first numbertwo is that was that's my favorite smoke
(42:10):
Cuban. Yeah, all right,I think that's it for today. Man,
I'm excited. I think if youwant to check out some of our
