Welcome to ray Stay Nation. Hig. I'm robbed Tomik alongside Michelle Raha.
Michelle, you look like you're ina different location. Where are you broadcasting
from today from Alamada, Florida, which is down in the Keys about ninety
minutes south of Miami, ninety minutesnorth of Key West. Are you working
on the tan? Uh? Youdon't want to go down to Key West?
(00:23):
I know I was saying, doyou want to? Are you working
on your tan? You're trying to, you know, for the ladies.
You know, man, we don'twe all cast today. I'm gonna have
to get it next. Well,I got to go ahead, go ahead.
It's either that or a tanning booth. And you know what, I
(00:43):
ain't going into one of those standingboots and the keys. No, definitely
not all right? Well, uh, On that note, I'm going to
say where I was today at thePeach State Porsche Club and they had their
annual concour and it was a greatevent. I had a lot of fun
(01:06):
out there. You could see theseguys were doing some stuff in the streets
there, or I shouldn't say inthe streets. It was actually inside their
facility at Hennessee Portia, which Imean, I gotta tell you, some
of these cars were absolutely beautiful andjust to see they get the money,
man, it's like Holy Moses.I mean I'm looking at this and I
(01:30):
know how much these things cost. It's absolutely off the charts. You had
to have had a blast. Oh, I had a great times. They
really are the work of r Yeah. I had a great time. Saw
some beautiful cars out there, andit was for me owning now a car
club myself. If you're interested,by the way, in you're in the
Atlanta area, and it doesn't matterif you're not, but because this is
(01:53):
built for car guys and girls forthat matter. But it's called right now,
it's called the Dunwoodie Driving Club. You can find out at Dunwoody Drivingclub
dot com. So I'd love tohave you guys along. We'll be doing
some stuff in different states coming soon, so it'll be a lot of fun.
You could check us out there, don't forget. The show is presented

(02:16):
Cup race Today, Kevin Harvick winsthe race. Congratulations to him, goes
back to back, man, thisis true. This is trouble for these
guys. If I'm anybody in theplayoffs right now, he's got two wins,
moved himself up. We'll get intothe playoffs here in a little bit.
But holy cow, watch out.Harvick's on a tear in his after
(02:38):
burners. Man. I mean, you know, they say there's no such
thing as a momentum and auto racing, but obviously Kevin Harvick is uh is
putting that one to rest because he'sgot what we would call momentum. It's
nice to be able to get tovictory lane and and you know, to
do that two weeks in a row. I think, you know, today
was just a total team. Theywere great on pit road. They made
(03:01):
huge adjustments and made the made thecar better from where we started the race.
And you know, everybody's just communicatingwell. And I think that's that's
really the key to evolving and progressingand doing the things that we've done.
I mean, is it's hard tobelieve he's now like one of the elder
statesmen of cup I wouldn't tell thatto his face, but yes, you're
(03:22):
all right, there's no doubt KevinHarvick winning the race today. Going back
to back. He won Michigan lastweek. Now this week with Richmond,
Christopher Bell was second, Busher wasthird, Denny Hamlin fourth, Chase Elliot
fifth, Joey Logano sixth, whoby the way, led two hundred and
twenty two laps today, pretty amazing. He didn't get the victory lane unfortunately,
(03:46):
once the sun started to go down, so did his card started to
suck it up there at the end. Martin Trix Junior looking for a win
to get in right now he sitsoutside that playoff and we'll get into that
a little bit later. Eric Almolla, Kyle Bush, and Ryan Blaney who
gained points by the way this weekon the Martin Tricks Junior, who again
(04:06):
is outside that the top sixteen drivers, and they were looking at one point
with Chris Busher running up front thatthey thought he was going to win and
be the sixteenth driver to win thisyear, leaving no room for anybody who
did not win in that playoff system. At some point, I mean,
(04:29):
if if nobody wins, what havewe got? How many races do we
have left? You have two races, you have Watkins Glenn and in Daytona.
That's it. Okay, So thereare a couple in there that can
be spoilers, especially at the glen. But then when you take a look
out of that last person can getin on points. Yes, right now,
(04:50):
the last driver, which is RyanBlaney in the regular season points here,
I want to show you this realquick. In regular season points,
he is second in points right now. He's one hundred and nineteen points behind
the leader, Chase Elliott. Butunfortunately he does not have a win,
so he's sitting there. That's thelast guy because he's the highest person without
(05:12):
a win, second in points rightnow, so he gets the sixteenth spot
if he does not win, andMartin Tricks Junior or Chris Bush or Bubba
Wallace came close last week as well. That takes him right out of the
game. Being second in points. It kind of sucks. But it also
to me, Rob it makes nosense the way that they constructed the playoff
(05:35):
system. It just doesn't. It'swinning your end, baby, that's it.
I guess, I guess that's thedeal. All right, let's take
a break here. When we comeback, we're gonna talk about more drivers
moving to different teams and signing contracts. In twenty twenty three from Michelle Royal,
(05:55):
I'm Rob Tomko stick around Race Dayon OOPS. Race Day Nation continued,
Welcome back to Race the Nation.I'm Rob Tamiko alongside Michelle ray Hall.
And we mentioned it before the breakthat we're going to talk about some
of the drivers changing teams, andone of that being a guy moving up
from the Exfinity Series up to CupSeries. And then we're talking about Noah
(06:19):
Gregston. The guy. He's alittle rough out there around the edges,
but I think Petty says, youknow what, let's bring him on.
I think he's gonna fit right inover here. So Petty GMS announced that
Noah Gregson will join the team beginningin twenty twenty three, driving that number
forty two car, that Camaro ZLone. So congratulations. Gregson's currently competing
(06:42):
full time in the Exfinity Series, where he sits forth in points with five
races remaining I think it's four actuallyremaining in the series, with three wins
on the season. He's locked intothe playoffs as it sits right now,
and he's going to be battling elevenother drivers in the series championship. He
has one hundred and seventy nine startsin NASCAR's top three series. He has
(07:03):
nine Cup starts, one hundred andtwenty three expended. He starts an eighty
seven truck starts, so congratulations tohim. His first race will be next
season at the twenty twenty three LAColiseum For that clash, I mean,
nobody can say the guy who's notexperienced. I mean, he's got some
(07:24):
experience it, but it is awhole other animal jumping into a cup car.
So we'll just have to see howthat plays out. We've seen many
drivers move up the cup and thenget spit right back into the bush leagues.
Yeah, yeah, you know it'sdifferent here though. I think with
Noah he's going to a team Pettyseems to be Eric Jones who races with
(07:46):
him right now and at forty three, Ty Gibbs, I'm sorry, not
Ty Gibbs. Ty Dillon is sittingover there in that forty two car.
Now he is leaving that team.We do expect he goes back to ourcr
are. Something's going on there inthe works because with Tyler Reddick moving on
to twenty three eleven in two thousandtwenty four, but we know that's probably
(08:09):
gonna not going to be the case. He's probably going to go in there
a little bit earlier, so we'llsee how that all plays out. But
I think with this situation, whenNoah, they know what they're getting,
they know what kind of guy heis, they know they think they have
the speed that that kind of kidneeds, and I think it should work
out for him over there. Now, again, Petty has not been we
(08:31):
all know this. Unfortunately, Pettyhas not been the team that we know
of Petty of the elder years, right the old days, back in the
day, Petty's were strong. Pettynot that right now. But they have
with the partnership with GMS, they'vereally up the game a little bit here
over in the Cup series. Well, you know, it's kind of a
(08:54):
shame, but it's one of thosedeals. I think with Grayson, you
know, moving into that seat, perhaps they do see that that type of
equipment is going to suit him, because that does happen. I mean,
let's not forget Riking and who willtalk about a little later on. Riken
And only had twenty three proper autoraces before he was in Formula one.
(09:22):
Nikki Lauda completely skipped over Formula three, went straight into Formula two because he
said they're gonna kill me. Andthere's some people that are able to just
make that leap into the heavy horsepower, heavy competition experience. It's people don't
realize how difficult it can be tostay the same. In other words,
(09:48):
someone can stay in Formula Forward andthey stay too long and they don't ever
learn how to drive something more powerful. And the other way is valid as
well. There's some drivers like BobbyRaham never sat in a Formula Ford in
his life. Yeah, he startedin you know, in Atlantics, and
I mean that's a it just is. It's everyone is different, everyone's different,
(10:11):
that's all. Well, we mentionedhe's gonna make his first start at
the bush Light Clash at the LAColiseum, which is February fifth, twenty
twenty three, and now tickets areon seal sale, same prices as last
year. It was a pretty coolYeah, pretty cool deal because I will
say it put on a good show. Listen. I was a little weirded
out that it was such a smalltrack and they were doing it inside a
(10:35):
stadium like that, but they broughtsome big acts. I remember ice Cube
was playing last year and they hadpit Bull out there, and they made
it a big deal because it isa big Latino market, and they showed
up. They they actually loved NASCARbeing there at the coliseum, so it
was pretty cool to see. Andyou know, now that they got it
again, the ticket prices I thinkbegin at like sixty five bucks. If
(10:58):
they're under twelve years old, it'sten dollars, So a good deal for
them. Good on that, man, I think it's pretty clear anything else.
So they've got Suarez, you know, and uh so they've got somebody
to cheer for. Let's face yeah, when you get up. I mean
in fl something like that is different. Major League Baseball all different. But
auto racing has increasingly from Formula one, which invented the nationalism of auto racing,
(11:24):
has increasingly increasingly become nationalistic. You'vegot you know, Suarez, Hispanic
audiences. You know, in Latinoaudiences, they're cheering for him. Um,
you know, the same thing goesin in F one, same thing
goes an Indy Car award with aname like that, you would tect him
(11:48):
to be irish, but he's He'sfrom Moderating the same place Suarez it's from,
as a matter of fact. Soyeah, it's pretty neat all right,
let's take a break here. Whenwe come back, we're need to
talk about the F one's schedule andsome news and rumors on the F one
side stick ground. Michelle ray Allrobbed Miko. This is Race Day Nation.
(12:11):
Welcome back. Race Day Nation, all presented by Rhino Classifieds. List
for free and sell fast at Rhinodot ceo. Check them out on their
website again Rhino dot COO. Allright, we're talking about the twenty twenty
three F one schedule. There's alreadybeen some moaning about twenty three's proposal with
a twenty three race calendar. They'resaying, hey, it's too many races.
(12:33):
A lot of these guys bitching.Max for Stappin has come out and
said, hey, what would youlike to see? And he said a
sixteen race? And I'm like, sixteen races? Are you kidding me?
What kind of season is this?Well, for twenty five million, I
mean for fifty million dollars a year, sure he'd like to see sixteen instead
of twenty one. You know, but that ain't happening. They've been vegging
(12:56):
about this for years. I don'tget it. In F one has gotten
so popular that suck it up,buttercups. You brought into it. You
wanted this, this was your passionfor life, So shut up and drive
baby. That's what I got tosay. Yes, some of the things
(13:16):
with obviously Vegas coming on board nextyear. You had Miami GP this past
year, which was I thought agreat race. You know, the race
itself wasn't as great as I thoughtit would be, but they did have
a let's see, how should Iput it, it's a they had a
great atmosphere, like it was hypedand it was big, and it was
(13:39):
a huge event for the Americans.Yeah, we're right up the street from
you. That's ninety minutes away fromme. Thank god. I don't mean
to see any speedos man. I'vebeen shocked enough. But I don't know.
Sixteen races, Listen, they wetalked about a NASCAR to thirty two
(14:01):
or the thirty six race schedule andall that stuff. To be twenty three
is not bad. But they alsotravel from country to country to country to
continents and things like that. Fourseven forty sevens are moving them around the
world. I mean, there isa lot that they have to go through
(14:22):
to get from one spot to another. There's a whole lot of rules and
regulations. There's just you know, the logistics of it are mind boggling,
it really is. I mean, yeah, but I don't think any of
the drivers should say a damn word. I really don't. I mean,
you've bought your whole life to getinto Formula one and you're there, and
(14:43):
I truly mean it, shut upand drive. I mean, yeah,
yeah, you know you don't wantto take any safety out of it and
all that, but you know,do your marketing, do what you need
to do. You you killed yourselfto get there. Okay, you're there
and you're getting fifty million dollars ayear. Shut up? All right?
(15:03):
Well, I'm glad you didn't cursein that. Could you start to getting
heated? I was watching it?All right, let's get hit the rumor
mill. So one of the bigrumor mills is Mick Schumacher could be on
the chopping block over at HOSS andlisten, he's done better. They've gotten
(15:24):
points this year, but it doesn'tseem to be enough to get him to
the next level, if you will, and not in saying level, but
he is in the top level. But to move up maybe to a different
team, the better himself to Idon't know what it is. Maybe it
is Hoss and it's not fitting hisdriving style or something like that. But
(15:45):
listen, he's maybe on the choppingblock there. But here's the thing.
Steiner now realizes what he's got. He's got a team that he can carry
up into the upper midfield. Yeah, and he knows it. And it
just takes a driver. Don't bestunned to see a Ricardo or some other
(16:06):
drivers show up on that team andSchumacher where can he go? Not many
places. I mean, he couldbail from the Ferrari driving Academy, you
know, and that might affect causein some minor way because you know,
they have a love for Schumacher. But listen, Ferrari's got enough problems with
their own right now, just tryingto figure out what, you know,
(16:30):
what strategy really is. I thinkthey're all going to have chess lessons now
just to learn something strategy. Listento therapy. It's been unbelievable, it
really it's been. It's been terrible. I mean it's a joke that the
how bad they really screwed up theirseason. You and I could have called
(16:53):
better strategy let's not we could.I don't know if I could have another
word. Stop, let's start drinking. That's pretty good. Hey, speaking
to Daniel Ricardo. That's another guyin the rumor mill doesn't look like he's
staying at McLaren. But they're notsaying, hey, you know, Zach
Brown came out and said, listen, it's up to him because who're not
(17:15):
breaking that contract because we don't wantto pay the fine, and it's up
to if he wants to go somewhere. Hey, that's up to him,
then then it's on the table. Then we can make some changes and do
some things. But Zach Brown issaying he wants twenty one million dollars to
get out of that contract for them. Oh my god, him out.
(17:36):
Yeah, that's what he wants, twenty one million. I'm with you.
I don't see it happening at twentyone million, but I have a feeling.
I mean, they want Postry sobadly. But the other side of
that coin is dof No Hour isreally hacked off at Theostrey because the FIA
has determined that both because Postree,if you recall, was part of alpen
(18:00):
Driver Academy. They invested millions inthis driver of a sudden, Alonzo leaves
and and uh he's and Piastre says, I don't want to drive for you,
I want to drive for McLaren.Yeah. And now the FI has
come out and said both contracts arevalid. How the hell does that happen?
(18:22):
Yeah, that that's a that's afunny one to me. I gotta
go to the high court. It'sgot to It'll go right into and into
the court system. All Right,we're gonna take a break. When we
come back, we're going to talkabout the playoff picture in NASCAR, So
stick around some of that coming upnext with Michelle ray Al, Rob Demiko.
This is Race Day Nation. Welcomeback to raced Nation NASCAR playoffs.
(18:51):
So what happened after Richmond? Again, Congratulations going out to our main man
there, the guy that's scaring everybodyright now because Harvick is hot and he's
gone back to back with the wins. Congratulations to him, Kevin Harvick winning
at Richmond. What does that dofor the points? Well, regular season
points? We were talking about itwith Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney on that
(19:12):
hot seat there, Chase Elliot leading, So he's going to go into the
playoff picture looking pretty good. Sowhat does that playoff picture look like?
Well, this is where it getsa little interesting, because you had fifteen
different winners right now, leaving onespace open for the guy the highest and
points, which we know is Blaneybecause in regular season points, he's sitting
(19:33):
there in second place. So whatdoes that look like right now? Here
are all the guys in green thatyou see that are locked in Chase,
Elliott, Ross, Chastain, JoeyLogano, William Byron, Denny Hamlin,
Tyler Reddick, Kevin Harvick. Lookat that. I mean, this guy
wasn't even then the chase three weeksago, and now he's already up to
(19:55):
seventh with two wins under his belt, going back to back. Kyle Larson
moves down to eighth. It's aguy that's started strong, but now it's
going down. Christopher Bell and thenKyle Bush round out to top ten.
Those are the guys that are lockedin. So the guys in yellow here
are still in the chase, ori should say, in the playoffs right
now. But if somebody was togo two wins back to back at at
(20:18):
the Glen and then at the Daytona, the last race of the regular season
could kick some of these guys out, so it'll be interesting to see.
But Ryan Blaney now with twenty sixpoints above that mark over Martin Truex Junior.
And that was the big thing thatat Richmond is like either Martin Truex
Junior or Ryan Blainey getting the winor they got to finish in front of
(20:40):
each other or close to each otherand close enough. So they did that
and Ryan Blaney still has enough pointsto get in correct me if I'm wrong,
But you're wrong. Chassans wins areon road courses, are they not?
So chass Dain does have a win, I could be wrong. Chastained
(21:02):
one at Uh God, now thisis gonna wrack my brain here. No,
it wasn't Talladega. Um, yeah, until he get one, that's
right. It's like a little lotteryyou just but I gotta tell you man,
(21:22):
it's uh, it's uh. He'son fire and he was. Actually
he took out Kyle Bush today inthe race and then Kyle's interview after the
race. It would listen. Itwas one of those things. It was
a racing incident. He was inbetween two cars. He was trying to
give the guy on the bottom someroom and hit Kyle. Kyle says,
(21:44):
I was chastained today. I gottalove that. But listen, the guy's
aggressive. They know what he's youknow, he's all about He's he I
think genuinely he tries not to bethat aggressive on track. But I think
you know, we always say thatthey put that helmet on, it must
(22:04):
cut off the circulation to the brainand you do dumb things, because sometimes
that's what happened. Well, hehad as falls over your eyes. Man,
we gotta become really aggressive, andthat you don't have a choice.
So if you're at that level, you'd better be aggressive. You're not going
to get anywhere. I mean, you know, even uh even an F
(22:29):
one when Alan Prost was running andthey called him the Professor, he was
still aggressive. Yeah, you haveto be just yeah, I agree with
you. I agree. I don't. I don't see nothing wrong with it,
except that if he's in the playoffsany second in points right now as
we see here, um, thatcould be a dangerous situation going down to
the wire where guys start wanting toget a little payback on you. That's
(22:52):
where it comes in and becomes aproblem. So he's got to pay attention,
and you know, I'm sure thatNASCAR is paying attention to whoever wants
to get payback. Yeah, theygot a lot of penalties. That's the
one thing Riking is gonna have towatch out for, the penalties. Yeah.
I got a clip right now withDenny Hamlin talking about if they got
(23:14):
to grasp on the car. Nowthey're heading back to some of these tracks
for the second time this season andespecially going into the playoffs. Take a
listen. No, I think we'velearned quite a bit in the first you
know, two thirds of the seasonor whatever the number might be. But
um, I think certainly we've weknow a lot more and certainly after we've
(23:36):
gone through all these tracks now differenttypes. Um, you know, we've
seen trends from certain types of tracks. We've got a good understanding of it.
Um, But that doesn't necessarily meanthat we can always kind of fix
what we want to fix because ofyou know, the rules and the tolerances
being so tight. I mean,I think they got a pretty good grasp
(24:00):
on the car. I think thatyou're starting to see that now with Kevin
Harvick coming back to some of theseraces that you know, he has that
ability to have that information, goget to win and start building that momentum.
Yeah. Yeah, well, youknow I think that Hamlin, Harvick,
(24:22):
Logano, all of these guys, they still got it, but they
are slowly may being overtaken by thenew people. Yeah, of course they're
coming up, and it's just foundto happen. It always does. But
there's a longer, a greater shelflife in NASCAR than most other sports.
I mean, at forty one yearsold, look at Alonso and f one,
(24:45):
I mean they've practically got him ina wheelchair, you know, and
at the old Folks Home for God. Yeah, he said, I think.
I mean, he's an absolute geniusfind the wheel. So yeah,
all right, let's take a breakand let's talk about another genius behind the
wheel, one who doesn't show alot of emotion. Keimi Rei get in.
(25:10):
Well, he would talk about himcoming up next right here on Race
Day Nation. Welcome back to RaceDay Nation Rob Demiko alongside Michelle rayhar Our
website is race day Nation dot com. You can follow along in social media
at Rob Demiko, R O,B D A M I C O and
Michelle. Where can they find you? They can find me at Michelle Rayhall
(25:33):
on Facebook. That's m I ch E L E r a h a
L. Not too many of uson there with that name. And you
can find me an Instagram at MichelleRay Hall m I c h E L
E r a h a L.And the number nine come and visit like
they're hanging out at your place orsomething. Right, it's a little dirty
(25:56):
in there, but I hear andyou're John his breakfast, which I've actually
done that. Yeah, all right, let's talk about the guy who shows
no emotion. We're laughing on theshow. But if you saw this guy,
he shows no emotion whatsoever. Acceptcheck out this well, yeah,
of course, but check out thispicture of him at the getting ready to
(26:19):
test one of the NASCAR rides he'sgot coming up for next weekend. Look
at look at him. He lookshappy. Here, come on, he's
got a smile on his face.Yeah, that's a side of Kimi you
don't really see anymore. But Keimireiche And has got his first taste of
NASCAR in the next Gen car ata VIR test that he did this past
Thursday ahead of his debut at WatkinsGlenn for next weekend. The two thousand
(26:41):
and seven Formula One champion will drivefor chat track House Racing at the road
Course race at Watkins Glenn coming upthis next weekend, driving the Chevy Camaro
ZL one alongside his teammate Daniel Suarezand Ross Chastain. So the good news
here is that I don't think thatKimi riking And has to worry about Ross
(27:03):
chas Stain taking him out in thatrace, because he'll be his own,
it'll be his teammates, so hewon't have to worry about that. I
think, you know, I thinkriking And is actually going to take to
these cars at least if if youknow what track House is owner is saying
about the vir test, he wasincredibly fast, got right down to it,
(27:26):
no problem. Yeah. I thinkthese cars are closer to GT style
cars, and I think riking Andwill the guy can drive anything and he's
fast as simple as that. Droverally cars, f one, ice racing,
you name it. The guy hasdone it, and he's done the
(27:48):
truck races. He's done a coupleof truck races and it's right. So
you know, I think he's gonnabe fine. I think he could be
a contender. He could be acontender. What this also does he becomes
the first driver to join the team'sProject ninety one. You remember that program
they announced back in May buy atrack house. Yeah, so they're doing
(28:10):
that. They'll probably race that.I think at Lamar they do that Project
ninety one. So Kimi is oneof the first drivers to be announced to
be there for that ride. So, you know, I think that's pretty
and he gives him another opportunity. He's doing it here with the Glenn getting
out there. He'll do it insome of the other but man, I
truly love this. I love seeingyou know, remember when Wan was doing
(28:33):
it and came over to the NASCAR, when Kurt Bush went to Indy Car
and ran the five hundred, youknow, just things like that. I
always love to see that crossover. And I know, you know, we
joked that, you know, AndrettiMarco should be doing some you know,
some road racing and imsea and thestreet racing and do some sports car stuff.
(28:55):
I'd love to see him go overthere and try that and see what
he can do. Right now,he's been doing the SRX stuff, which
is you know, when he hasn'tbeen doing too bad, which is dirt
racing with the stock cars and thingslike that. So I always love seeing
the crossover with this this type ofracing. Oh, I don't think Marco
ever had the passion that his grandfatheror father had. I don't know what
(29:18):
makes me say that. I guessit's just a lifetime of watching him and
is that a product of Is thata product of growing up in a family
like that where I think it maybein his case, yeah, his case,
Yes, I know. I canthink of a couple of other drivers
too, boom shall remain unnamed, that have the same same issue. Yeah,
(29:41):
I would agree, I would agree. All right, don't have any
black hats show up at my doorshoot me in the middle of the night.
I'll keep my mouth shut. Allright, let's take a break here,
we'll come back, and I wantto make mention real quick. Daniel
Swarz, who is also going tobe uh Kimi riking its teammate out for
(30:03):
track House. He is still workingon his contract, pretty close to coming
up with a finish. There's acouple of details, but he said,
hey, listen, we're pretty closeto making this happen. So I think
you'll see I think you'll see DanielSuarez back over at a track house racing
in twenty twenty three and beyond, because I do listen, the guy has
(30:27):
shown that he's capable of doing itand getting you know it done. They're
not the top tier team, butlisten, he could still get it done.
All Right, we're gonna going toAlpine. Yeah, everybody else is
going over there. McLaren somehow,Zach Party, Yeah, Zach Brown's got
(30:47):
this whole racing thing screwed up.Now. I don't know what Zach's doing.
Man. All right, we're gonnatake a break, come back.
We're going to talk about head injuries, little seriousness, head injuries in racing.
It's all coming up next right herein race day Nation. Welcome back
to Race day Nation. Rob Tomikoalongside Michelle Rayhall. Find us on our
(31:11):
website race day nation dot com.You can follow along with me Rob Demiko,
R O B D A m IcoMichelle. Where can they find you?
They can find me at Michelle Rayhallon Facebook. That's m I C
H L E R H A L. Not too many of us should be
easy to find, and you canfind me on Instagram at Michelle Rayhall M
(31:33):
I C H L E R Ah A L and the number nine.
Hey, I gotta be honest withyou. You're letting me down a little
bit. You know. I haven'tscrewed up one name on this show today
at all. I've been I know. I know your own name is the
one you came close screwing up.And I was watching, Hey, go
figure, well there might be aname in here that I'm gonna screw up
(31:59):
in the Yeah, the Expedity groupis off, so we didn't have the
fun names to talk about today.I was watching the list. Body was
watching. I know you are.All right. Let's get a little serious
here and talk about injuries in racing, you know, because right now you
have Kurt Bush who is out inNASCAR, can't race. He's been out
(32:21):
for three weeks now. Ty Gibbshas been in the forty five car in
NASCAR Cup Series covering for Kurt becausecrashed at Pocono at a qualifying event and
has been out ever since, whichI find a little odd, to be
honest with you, that he's beenout that long. It didn't see him
like that heart of a crash. But I've also known football players who've had
this problem that they've had things happenedbefore and never said anything, and then
(32:45):
something serious happens. You know, that kind of jars it up and there's
a little swelling going on. There'ssome things that should be happening. Yeah,
once you've had one concussion, thenext one doesn't need to be a
major deal. It just it sortof sets it. It's kind of snowballs
from what I understand. I'm nota doctor, but that's what that you
(33:07):
know. I know Ricky Tims andsome of the others that were with the
IndyCar Team IndyCar Safety Team, andthey've said as much. So the concussions
do matter. The big issue inFormula one is have the Formula one drivers
become soccer players where they get somebodybreathes on them and they fall and go,
(33:29):
oh, he is killing me.I can't love. First of all,
I love those memes when it's likeyou they do like soccer players verse
hockey players, hockey players meeting thecrap out of each other. Nobody says
anything these touch and they're like, did you see that? Oh, it's
(33:52):
it's uh. The academy goes tothis soccer player, right, But I
will say so seriously. The FIAmedical report shows warnings about the risk of
brain damage to drivers from excesses ofporpoising, which I find a little odd
(34:13):
to be honest, when I havea feeling because who's backing this is Toto
Wolf. Who's right, Who's havingthe worst problem with porpoising right now?
Toto Wolf and Mercedes. So theseguys, I think they're just jumping on
it. I don't want to seethe FIA overreact. Don't jerk the wheel
on this one. Really look intoit. If it is a problem,
(34:35):
listen, do something about it.But in all seriousness, what porpoising should
be doing and what they need tobe worrying about is them pound fractures on
the backs. That's what should bea concern is the stuff that these guys
could get in this car, becausethat is dangerous as well. But I
don't think head injuries or brain asthey put it in this report brain damage
(35:00):
is Again, I think there needsto be more studies done on this.
Yeah, and I would completely agreewith you, because I mean, you've
got it's precious few millimeters between thebottom of the car and the road surface,
and when they hit, are theyhitting hard? Yeah, I'd have
to say that they are because atthose speeds and with that much oundforce on
(35:22):
the car once it comes down becauseof the ground effects and bounces back up.
You know, I can see whereit can be uncomfortable. I agree
with you. I think that.And I'm not a you know, I'm
not a medical guy obviously, youknow, other than playing a lot of
doctor when I was younger. Butdoctor ray Hall, doctor ray Hall.
(35:47):
Hey, he stayed at a holidayin last night. I couldn't resist.
Man, Well, here you mighthave some enjoyment. And in this next
the sentence I have to read bya president Mohammed ben slay him is that
Ali pronounces okay. He had hisconversation with all the teams and drivers over
(36:08):
the past couple of weeks to geta better understanding of the situation. What
I don't want to see here ishim overreact because total Wolf is crying,
uh, saying brain damage. Wedon't want to any quotes an NFL situation
over here in F one and Ilisten again, I don't think that's a
problem with the porpoising. I thinkTotal Wolf is just saying, no,
(36:30):
we have to it's causing brain damage. We have to do something. Of
course, he wants that Wolf isabsolute master and manipulation. And you know,
you know, you don't hear theother teams screeching like this, No,
And I have a feeling if therewas something done, I think the
(36:52):
other teams would then seek legal actionin this court in this case, and
that would have I think they wouldhave every right. But silly Amad doesn't
have. He doesn't seem to beone that is easily swayed because Wolf has
his hands in everybody's pockets. Theyactually said I was reading some of this.
(37:16):
I read a lot on this onebecause I had some interest because of
my background with my kid playing footballand all this. But they say Wolf
has a little too much power inthis, so they may need to pay
attention to that. Yeah, andeverybody, a lot of people are complaining
about that power right now. Yeah, all right, let's take a break
here. Yeah, when we comeback, we're going to talk about the
(37:37):
truck race that happened at Richmond anda pit member was hit by one of
the trucks on pit lane. We'vegot to talk about this coming up neck
talking about safety right here on RaceDay Nation. Welcome back to Race Day
Nation. Rob Tomko, Michelle Rayhaldon't forget. The show is brought to
(37:58):
you by our friends over at RhinoClassified, self Fast and list for free
at Rhino dot c O. Thankyou for them for coming on board and
don't forget. You can follow alongwith us at Race day nation dot com.
Follow me at Rob Demiko, rO B d A m Ico Michelle,
where can they find you at?They can find me behind the preposition
(38:22):
at that, Michelle r h L. You know what, I was really
on the instagram Michelle rham l hA L on the number nine and I
was afraid today. Yeah, Iwas afraid where that was gonna go.
(38:45):
There. For a moment, Iwas like, oh, dear God,
no more editing. All right, welcome back to the show. It's raced
Nation, And obviously we have funon this show. That's what we like
to do. You know. Wecan talk racing and bore you guys to
death with stats and graphics and allthose crap. Right, We're not going
(39:06):
to do that. We want tohave some fun. We want to talk
about what's going on. And oneof the big things that was going on
in this truck race at Richmond isone of the guys came on pit road.
You know how they jumped down. The guy with the jack will jump
off the wall onto pit lane andaround the side. Well, when he
did that, he basically gave himselfa hip flex. You literally saw his
(39:29):
leg go up and he started tofall, and he didn't put any weight
on it, and he did fallliterally right in front of the truck.
And as he falls, the truckhits him and knocks him about only about
three or four feet. The dudeis an animal, gets up, pits
the car, puts the jack underit finishes, and later on after carl
(39:51):
he's out there sweeping pit lane.I was like, dude, that's an
animal right there. You don't thinkthese guys are athletes. These guys are
athletes having been hit by a car. That's right when I tell you,
there is nothing like getting hit bya car. They don't move. The
kinetic energy is stunning and it happensso fast. So yeah, these guys
(40:15):
really are They're they're different. Eventhe front tire guy, he's standing there
because he made it out in frontof the truck and around the side,
and when he looks back, heturns with his gun and he looks back
and he's like, you just seehis eyes go oh no. And then
the guy gets hit and I thinkthe guy's like in shock. He's standing
(40:36):
there like what do I do?And as he goes in to go help
him, the guy jumps up withthe jacket starts running towards him. It
was like like a hero movie.I was like, Holy cow, look
at this guy. He's either insome serious shocks. Yeah, yeah,
his hairs in the wind. Butit was a good race. They are
(40:58):
in their playoffs obviously, and Igotta I'm trying to pull up the graphics
here, but Chandler Smith made itto victory Lane. Congratulations to him.
John Hunter, Nimachek, great jobon his part. I thought he was
going to be able to get upthere and catch him, but late race
there was nothing nobody can do againstChandler Smith did a great job. Tim
(41:19):
mad jet Ski, grant In Finger, Corey Him, Taylor Gray, Matt
Craft, and Kristin Eckis Zach I'msorry. Zane Smith and Carson Josafar round
out your top ten. And bythe way, all these guys are in
the playoffs. Every single one ofthese guys are in the playoffs that were
in that top ten right there. So that's how competitive these guys are right
(41:40):
now in the Truck Series and weare in the final stretch here on Race
Day Nation Rob Demiko alongside Michelle rayHall. Before we get out of here,
we're going to talk about some ofthe races that are coming up this
week, I should say this comingweekend. Before we do that, I
wanted to mentioned a one thing becauseit was we missed it in the beginning
(42:04):
of the show. Was Bubba Wallacesigns a multi year contract with twenty three
eleven. Congratulations to him. Itwas announced this past weekend that he signed
a multi year extension to remain withthe team. Wallace joined twenty three eleven
back in September of twenty twenty asthe team's inaugural driver, So congratulations to
him getting there. Since he's beenthere, he's got one win and got
(42:29):
the team their first poll, soreally been doing some things. Now.
The question is what happens with thenumber forty five car? All right when
we h We'll see you next weekhere on the show. Michelle, thank
you so much for joining us andfrom Miami. Work on that tan will
you no tan lines? By theway, desperately. I'm Rob Davico's Michelle
