(00:01):
We're live. Welcome to Race theNation High. I'm Robbed Tamiko alongside by
co host Michelle ray Hall, who'sdown in Tampa. By the way,
just got done watching the Tampa BayBolts beating the New York Rangers, which
was really cool. Finally New York'sgot two games, the Bolts have got

(00:21):
one. The Lightning. Uh,we're in kind of desperate mode. I'm
not gonna lie man, maybe verynervous. I'm not, you know,
I'm not a sticking ball guy,but everybody's so ampt about, you know,
the Lightning that you know, youkind of get caught up in it,
you know what I mean. It'slike going through an F one race.
You get caught up in it,and you do kind of get caught

(00:42):
up in this, and you know, I see these other I don't even
know what the other team is,but they're they've beaten them twice, right,
Yeah, so it's New York Rangers. So all year long, they've
never the Lightning, haven't won theseries with the Rangers, so it's kind
of nice to see they're in theright before this is going to the Stanley
Cup here where were wins moves onand the Lightning has been there the last

(01:06):
two years and are defending champs. So here they are, their backs up
against the wall and they're able topull us out. Today doesn't mean anything
yet, but we still got Ithink of four more games and for that
to be decided. So we'll haveto see how it all plays out.
Hopefully we can get picked up anotherStanley Cup. It would be h three

(01:26):
on the trot as the British say, that's right. I've never figured that
crap out, some of you Britsout there. I gotta you know,
you gotta tell me where the hellthat one came from? All right,
well, you're listening to the raceDay Nation. That was our hockey talk
for the day. Yeah, butyou can check us out on our website
race day Nation dot com. Wealso do another show with Cooks and Cars,

(01:49):
so you can check that one out. If you're in the high end
cars love good recipes. You cansee that one's Cooks and Cars dot com.
You can follow me at Rob Demicothat's Rob Damice. Michelle. Where
can they find you? They canfind me on Facebook at Michelle Rayhall,
m I C H E L E. And the last name R A H
A l or on Instagram at MichelleRayhall and the number nine m E L

(02:14):
E r h A L the numbernine. All right, so we're gonna
recap a couple of things. Wehad Monico last weeek, which we talked
about, great racing going on there. Sergio Perez with the win, which
was a big surprise to me.I wasn't expecting that. And you know,
with the rain and wet tires, you'll hear that coming into play at

(02:37):
a couple of races this weekend aswell. But we had last week with
the rain and all that went on. It really screwed Ferrari big time in
their Leclair's home race. Ferrari screwedFerrari, And but that was you know,
that's one of those the race control, race control, Ferrari making strategic

(03:00):
errors which they could ill afford tomake. Now you've got Perez. And
by the way, Perez signed hiscontract as two year extension before Monica.
Yeah, there he goes out andwins Monica. They saw they had to
clip of him on TV going Imight I might have signed too soon.

(03:21):
You gotta love that stuff. Butall good, man, but a great
race. I thought it was agood race. Listen, it's it's not
a huge passing race. We knowthat it's Monica. It's very tough.
Um the equalizer a little bit wasrain, but you know, these guys
had a hard time, you know, going back and forth from wets to
slicks, you know, and viceversa. But did you see Schumacher crash?

(03:44):
Oh? Man, I felt badfor this calf. Yeah. They're
designed to do that. I meanthe design that the rear breaks away so
that all that heavy equipment machinery that'sbehind the driver doesn't end up folding in
on the driver. So it's meantto break away. But you know,
yeah, I mean the rain, the delayed start, the no standing start,

(04:10):
all sorts of things were happening therethat you know, these are Formula
one people. All they do isstrategize, and for Ferrari to screw it
up was really surprising to me.But hey, everybody makes a mistake.
But what's interesting now is that Perezis only six points behind Leclair, and

(04:33):
Leclair is is uh I think verStopping is six points ahead something like that.
Yeah, ver Stopping has one twentyfive. You can see Leclair's got
to one sixteen and backside point isuh Perez sitting there, which this is
tighten things up, you know,I know, I know, And we

(04:54):
haven't seen the best yet because youknow, that's one of the f one
stories we've got is uh Steiner.God bless him, man, gunther Steiner,
he has made Netflix needs to bewriting his asset check for a million
damn dollars. Yeah, he ishilarious. He won't watch himself, but
he's incredible. Well, I meanhis contention and I think he's got a

(05:16):
legitimate bitch here is that all thetop teams they want the FIA to extend
the budgets beyond one hundred and fortyfive million. They want him to extend
it so that they can make surethose salaries are paid, they can make
sure that everybody's taken care of.Horsecrap man. What's going to happen if

(05:38):
they allow him to do that?Every dollar will filter its way into R
and D and they'll start updating thesecars where it isn't so obvious, and
they'll spend more than they should. And that's gunther Steiner's complaint. And for
those of you don't know, Steineris the print team principle for Hawes,
which is the American team and predictif they if the FIA does not allow

(06:01):
them to go beyond that budget, cat, you're gonna see those mid pack
teams like Hawes and those guys startto close that gap down to the top
three teams because the top three teamshave said we're not gonna make it.
Ferrari even popped out and said wemay not make the last couple of races

(06:23):
of the year because of it,which is, you know, absolutely hilarious.
Did you not sit down with theaccountants, did you not do a
forensic accounting of this new budget andhow it was gonna play out. Well,
it's not gonna play out in yourfavor if the FIA doesn't fold,
and I hope they don't fold.Yeah, I'd like to see more people

(06:45):
moving up to the front. Imean, you know, Aston Martin,
maybe you know Perez. Perez isgonna be in Baku, which is coming
up next weekend. That's one ofhis tracks. I mean, he took
the Force India or what was racingpoint now, Aston, he took that
and drove the living crap out ofit. He beat for stopping. So

(07:09):
I may ask you this is itum like? Well, like we see
with other UM series, NASCAR,IndyCar, imps trying to level the playing
field. Does it make sense forF one to do something like that so
we do have more competition, bettercompetition, uh, you know better you
know, drives for championships, thingslike that. Can you do that in

(07:32):
a sport like that? I mean, we've seen it done elsewhere. They're
bringing these budgets back down to geteverybody in the sport to try and bring
more people, Like NASCAR, thetrack house guys making us, you know,
making a good effort coming up.You have it in IndyCar, you
have it in MS, you haveit in all these different series. Can

(07:53):
we do it in that type ofVent've done it in a different way.
They do it with bop balance ofpower Yeah yeah, And I hate that
they start ballasting cars, make themheavier or take horsepower away. That becomes
complex. Let let's gas whatever itis that equalizes that. Right, if

(08:13):
they had taken the F one budgets, and just so you know, folks
out there that don't know any newfans to Formula one, Mercedes was spending
half a billion dollars a year onthat team. Ferrari somewhere around four hundred
billions and Red Bull three hundred andthree and a half. Um, you

(08:37):
know, I mean they were upthere, they were up there. You
know, they were encroaching at thehalf billion dollars mark five hundred million.
They should have staged it a littlebetter, I think, going from you
know that amount five hundred billion, five hundred millillion, I think you said
billion earlier to drop it, youknow, staged down. Yeah, lay

(09:01):
over two year period or something likethat. It's really gonna be interesting to
see this though mid season. Imean, what's gonna happen in the summer
break? Who knows? I mean, is somebody gonna miss a race?
Well, you know what if theydidn't manage that budget, they deserved to.
Yeah, all right, so let'smove on. We'll get to this

(09:22):
weekend's racing. And there was alot going on. You had the NASCAR
guys at Gateway, the trucks andthe Cup Series, which Cup Series Right
now, we're on Live in eight. They are about twenty five laps to
go, so we'll kind of getyou an update here in a few minutes.
But the trucks were also at Gateway. This is the first time the
Cup Series was here. So youknow you had very few, well you

(09:43):
had most of the drivers who haveraced in Exfinity or truck's been there before.
But trucks were there, had agreat race. You know, it
was okay, listen, it's youknow, they come back. I will
say, the crowd has been awesome, which was really cool to watch.
Here is this crowd go, youknow, be pretty big? Uh and
um showing up in Saint Louis, which was cool. But Corey him ended

(10:05):
up winning the Truck Series race outGateway or what they're calling whatever, the
Technology Center or whatever it is.Kristin Kis is second, Chandler Smith,
Stewart Freezing, Johnny Sowder, MattBenedetto, Derek Krause, Ben Rhodes,
and Zane Smith and Chase Purty roundout your top ten there. So I

(10:28):
knew you were gonna screw one ofthose names. I didn't screw any of
them. Benetto, but Annis, yeah, the same as Tony Bennett.
Yeah, yeah, you told thatstory a couple of weeks ago. I
just want to remind you just there, just trying to slip one in every

(10:50):
immense gray matter. So points forthe Trunk Series. So it's Ben Rhodes,
Chandler Smith, Zane Smith, JohnHunter, Nima Check Stewart, Freezing,
Kristinnakis, time at jet Ski,Carson Husavar, Matt Kraftin and grant
In Finger are your top ten inpoints there the Exfanity series. They did

(11:11):
something different this week. They wentout to the road course in Portland,
the first time they visited out there, which was pretty cool. Listen,
it's not the you know, it'snot the best track in the world.
If you look at it on television, you can tell it's like the B
track, you know what I mean. It's not you know, it's you're
not going to see the big boysthere. But you know, I thought

(11:31):
it put on a good show. And again we talked about it. Rain
was going to come back into picture, so it did. It started off
rainy, it went to drives, then it went back to rain. So
there's a little strategy being played outthere from last to first. He absolutely
did. Man, this guy wason his game. Man, it was

(11:52):
awesome to watch almond Inger get toVictory Lane there. His dad was there.
You got to hang out with hisdad in Victory Lane, which was
pretty cool. So it looks likethis it was aj Almendinger getting the win.
Mayat Snyder, who was up frontpretty much most of the towards the
end of the Uh that is,um, what's the heck's name? Snyder's

(12:13):
kid? Uh he's from Yeah,I know that. Sorry, I played
captain obvious there didn't I um butuh, Austin Hill was third, he's
a rookie. Josh Berry fourth,Justin All, Guyer, Daniel Henrick,
Ty Gibbs, jj Yalely, NoahGregson and Alex Leabay was your top ten

(12:39):
in Portland and again it was oops, sorry here, I'm getting all my
pictures screwed up here. But itwas a good race. Uh. You
know, he did a great job. Almendinger deserves the win. He you
know, he passed a lot ofcars to get there. Many that's that's
what's impressive, and that's what wetalk about with road racing and rain,

(13:00):
uh, you know, kind ofbeing the equalize wisers, if you will.
This is a guy who had togo to the back. He crashed
on the first lap and was ableto work his way up. At one
point. Uh Andy Lowly was leadingthis racer. You know, that's a
he's a road racer from weight backand things done and still road racing.
Yeah, and uh, you knowthese heavy cars, no brakes. Uh,

(13:22):
the Winstrey wiper barely works on thesethings. He probably gets in this
thing and goes and this thing's agiant piece of junk compared to what he
drives in himself. All I cantell you is I went, I'd never
driven a car that had fenders onit, and I drove one of the
Nissans in himself. And I gotin this car the first time I ever

(13:43):
drove it, drove it was Phoenix. I got in and it's like,
okay, here's this dash with allthese lights flickering and flashing. I mean,
I tried to stop on my firsthot lap and it was like,
Holy wrap, this thing's not gonnastop. And it finally, you know,
it did, but it was like, you gotta break a lot earlier.

(14:07):
I thought this must be what NASCARis like, not even close.
Nascar is like ten times harder thanwhat I was in. You know,
it's funny. I have uh,you know, I have my uh,
I have a Toyota camera that Irun around in, right, which is
you know, pretty light car,you know, breaks nice and easy.
But then I also have a ToyotaSequoya and I get in that thing.

(14:30):
It's huge. Yeah, I feellike I have to stand on the brakes
and I have to stop a mileback before you know, you get It's
bizarre exactly. The feeling in thatthing is when I'm driving and I'm driving
a big truck. B J McCainand his best friend Bear wasn't at the

(14:50):
show back in the day. Whatabout the truck drivers? BJ McKay and
his best friend Bear or something likethat. You have weird taste and in
film, that's all I can tellyou. It was a quality show,
buddy. Oh yeah, sounds likeyeah big. All right, So we'll

(15:11):
look at Exfinity points here, getyou a j Almont and you're still the
points leader. In congratulations, secondwin of the season. Like I said,
I think it's his twelfth career victory. Ty Gibbs's second, forty three
points back. Noah Gregson is fortyfour points back, Josh Berry justin allguy,
Sam Mayor, Brandon Jones, AustinHill, the rookie still in the

(15:31):
top ten, uh Daniel Hemrick ninthand Landed Castle rounding out the tap top
ten. The guy that's missing isyour herbs fella, you beat me to
it. Yeah, with these thingspop up. It's mister Herpies whatever his
name is. And I feel terriblefor the guy, worse than the field

(15:54):
for me and Michelle. Yeah,I mean, at least I don't have
an STD. Imagine sitting in thedoctor's office, mister herbs hers right this
way. Oh God, that's me. Everybody kind of moves away in the
doctor's office. Good coffee, bythe way. Oh what are you drinking?
Is it? Yeah? Slipping inyou know, your afternoon sanka,

(16:19):
sir. M hell, no,man, I gotta have caffeinated coffee.
I can't do decalf No, I'mwith you, man, We'll look at
imps. They were at Detroit BelleAisle, which this is the last time
they're gonna run there. They're gonnarun the streets of day Yeah, which
is pretty cool. Do you rememberthe street course or they changing that up?

(16:41):
Do you know? Or you knowfrom so long ago? I just
remember Danny Sullivan running it and theBenetton. It was a long time ago
when they did the street race there. Because I don't know if it's similar
that, did they change something,or if it's going to be the same
version of what they used to run. I think it's gonna be a little
different. I mean, you've gotyou've got Pensky's hand on this. Uh,

(17:06):
it's gonna be whatever it is,it's gonna be the best it can
possibly be. I mean, hejust doesn't do anything half assed as simple
as that. No, not atall. But it was the zero one
Cadillac getting the victory there. Congratulationsto those guys. It was a Sebastian
boar day. And Uh, thisguy's name always tears me up, Ringer

(17:26):
vander Zander. That's his name. And if you say it really quick,
you never get it right. I'msorry, but you gotta be South African.
Uh. And then the Lexus guysin GTD, they ended up in
Victory Lane, So congratulations to thoseguys. Gotten a fountain there, which
I thought was pretty cool. Theyalways That's what I'm gonna miss there is
that, you know when I thinkit was Ryan Hunter Ray who first started

(17:48):
that getting in the fountain with thevictory. And now it's kind of a
thing like kissing the bricks at thebrickyard. You know, that's the Detroit
You always see that. But maybethere's something new that you know they can
do running those streets and uh,you know the big thing there, it's
you know, the manufacturers are there. They're trying to get them more in
there. Yeah, so they're tryingto do something with the downtown area and

(18:10):
hopefully it you know, it elevatesthat city backed up where it used to
be when the manufacturers and everybody kindof ran that town. And now it's
just it's so run down. They'vehad so many problems and into the ground,
just like Chicago, just like NewYork, just like Seattle, just
like San Francisco, right into theground. Yeah, it's really it's actually

(18:36):
quite pitiful in my eyes. Yeah, very very taught politics. But whoever's
running the damn places ain't doing theirjob. No, not at all.
So we did have the IndyCar race. They raced to Detroit as well.
Um, they put on a goodshow. You know we've seen you know,
I felt bad Rayhall started that raceand it was, um it just

(18:57):
right off the back, got into the wall, and I felt bad.
He's not having the year I thoughthe was gonna have. And I
think overall Ray Hall, Letterman Laniganracing or having some issues and same thing
with Andrettie. Not where they needto be. That being said Alexander ROSSI

(19:18):
seemed to get on his game today. Got nothing to lose. He's going
to McLaren. So it's like Katiebarred the door. From this point forward,
I'll just stand on it everywhere Ican. And he did, you
know, and he was. It'sas you said, a couple more laps
and he might have taken power down. Yeah, you know, which is

(19:40):
that's all all well and good.I mean I thought the cars look pretty
strong other than they're just but uglywith the canopy on him. See that
doesn't bother me, man, Iknow it drives you nuts, but it
doesn't doesn't bother me whatsoever. Imean, you know, if if they
looked a little bit more like aAdrian Newis version of an F one car,

(20:03):
you know, a canopy like afighter plane or something, maybe,
but they just look I don't know, just I know what. You're putting
too much on aesthetics and not enoughon safety. You know, yeah,
correct that it is safe. Youknow they're safer there. Yes, I
do like the halo. I've gottenused to the halo in Formula one.
Um, but it doesn't keep smallparts from intruding. Yeah, and I'm

(20:27):
not sure how much that glass orwhatever it is they're using. It's I
don't think it's any car. Yeah. Yeah, So I think you're getting
is the halo has that a weirdeffect here. Let me get on the
full camera here has that weird effectwhere it goes up and then in F
one it kind of soups back downa little bit. In IndyCar it comes

(20:48):
up from the front of the car. You got the little windshield and then
it's like flat. And I thinkthat's what's getting you, is that that
flat part right there, that's kindof making it weird for you. But
yeah, but the safety, butthe safety's there. Yeah, all right.
You know they're so much safer thanwhat, you know, what we've

(21:10):
driven in the past. My god, yeah, I mean much safer the
carbon fiber tubs. Uh, justa whole lot safer. You know.
The last Formula car that I drovewas a you know, it was an
aluminum monocoque, the RT four Atlantic. And that's what you hit something and
all that metal starts to fold inaround you. That's the last thing I

(21:33):
thought they were calling you the aluminummonocoque well, at least I've only got
one. I'm so uh, I'mso glad now I understand, all right,
Uh A lot does does. Let'slook at the results for the IndyCar

(21:56):
Series. Will Power was the winnerthere, al Xander Rossi again on a
tear, Scott Dixon a good finishair. We haven't heard his name really
up in the top except for anindie Joseph new Garden. He tried a
strategy just didn't work. Paddo Award. He was doing pretty well. He
was pretty satisfied where he was becauseyou know, he played a strategy too

(22:18):
that didn't really work out. AlexPollo, same thing. Marcus Ericson Colton
heard us Simon Pachnow and Felix Rosenquestround out to top ten there, So
congratulations there and uh, you knowit was a will Power has been leading
the points for so many weeks, but he hasn't really been a big name
in the race. Like you surehe finishes in the top ten, but

(22:38):
he wasn't really there until the end. And he plays these weird strategies that
you know, get him up there, but he hasn't really been. It's
it's kind of like it's like theKecki Rossberg effect. You know, you
don't win a thing, but youwin the World championship, and that happened
with Nico's father, Decki Rossberg.Um and it's kind of the same thing.

(23:03):
But if you look at, youknow, the IndyCar drivers Colton heard
of Belle Isle has never been friendlyto him. I mean that's that's always
been sort of a for some reasonor another, a strange track for him.
And as far as Graham's concerned,I haven't spoken to him in quite
a while. But he's got alot of other outside interests now as well.

(23:27):
He's got a huge performance shop, which is, from what I'm told,
is booming. Yeah. Man,I'll be honest with the aris.
I mean they're tuning them. Youknow. He's got a real, real
growing concern going there. Yeah.So Graham ray Hall Performance out of Indy.
Your shop is literally right next scoreto um John Force Racing. It's

(23:49):
right next to uh yeah, seeingit out there. Man, the daughter
married Graham. Yeah, I needto keep an eye on It's don't have
a gun, but no, Grahamray Hall Performance is doing very well.
They sell high end cars, theydo performance stuff on him. He started
a new pink correction. Uh,part of that business. He's got a

(24:11):
Ducatti dealership. Yeah, they're actuallygetting ready to move locations. Uh still
in indeed, just I think abouttwenty minutes north. Uh. They're building
a new building out there up nearwhere Rayhall Landagan Racing built there, a
new place, which I here isjust incredible and I can't wait to take
a visit there. Yeah, they'redoing like a convention center in there,

(24:34):
an event center, this whole thing. I mean, they're making a big
deal. I keep looking over myshoulder here because there's seven, six laps
to goo. Kyle Busch is leading, Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney, Kurt
Bush, Eric Almolla, Uh,Eric Jones, Ross Chastain, Ryan Martin,
Tricks Junior, and Christopher Bell roundout your top ten. They're six

(24:56):
to go. I mean, ohintervals. So Legano's pretty damn close.
I mean he's like a tenth ofa second behind Bush trying to trying to
pass him. Yeah, I mean, yeah, he's pretty close, and
he's not to be very friendly tohim. No. No, See,

(25:18):
here's the thing. Legano's one ofthose guys who's very aggressive. So it's
Kyo. But Kyle's gonna make thatcar like yeah, this wid Yeah absolutely
I would too, wouldn't you?I mean, oh absolutely. It's like
Monico, you know, you makethat car as wide as you possibly can
because it's narrow enough as it is. But the why do you make your

(25:41):
car, and the harder it isfor somebody to get around you. And
that's what you're gonna be looking at. Five to go. Kevin Harvick just
got in the wall yellows out,So there'll be a restart probably green white
checker, and that'll be the endof the race. But that'll line neat
and tighten up the rest of thefield. So if anybody has some tire,
there's a little game playing that couldprobably get something done here. Um

(26:03):
if not, you know, itall depends on what the leader does.
Leader stays out, everybody goes in. Yeah, yeah, leader goes in.
Everybody stays out here, yep.I mean they're just playing strategies.
That's uh, you know, nextweekend in Azerbaijan. But cou Um,
not only is that one of thetightest tracks in certain spots, but the

(26:26):
straight is two hundred and seventeen milesan hour in the F one cars those
that's a that's fast. That's veryfast. Man, is a really fast,
especially on the street course. Yeah, that's incredible. Yeah, I
mean people don't realize just how fastthese cars are because television the cameras create

(26:48):
an illusion of speed of the carsnot being as fast as they are and
as close as they are. Um, it's like when you're following somebody,
they seem to be a few carlinks away, and man, when they
hit the brakes, it's like zoop, You're right on them. It's like
boom, You're right there standing onthe brakes to keep from hitting them.

(27:11):
Yeah, and especially in F one. I mean you see it in another
series obviously. If you see aNASCAR car go by at speed and then
you see some guy on the insidewho's having trouble's not at speed, you
realize how fast they pass that caror how fast they come up on those
cars and the sensation of speed. When I went to Indian watched that one

(27:32):
years ago. The sensation of speedwas incredible when you sit there and watch
them go into a corner because it'syou don't understand how they can break at
such a late breaking point, Iknow, and all of a sudden the
you know, the rotors glow redboom, and they've gone from one hundred
and eighty down to eighty and justa split second. There's a lot of

(27:56):
g forces involved there. If youwere lucky, you got to see the
last run. Yeah. So thesound that they made was just incredible.
Yeah, much much different. God, the screen I mean literally had to
have air plugs otherwise you were gonnago death. What's that? I'm sorry?
Yeah, I have that same problem. Where are we I'm just watching

(28:22):
the races, do some commentating, damn you. Yeah, it's pretty damn
interesting. Yeah, hey, looklook here. Yeah, we can't show
it because obviously we're out of theaffiliate, but you know, we can
talk about it on the air.But uh yeah, right now, Kevin
Harvick lost the tire and they arehaving still some tire issues. And what

(28:44):
they're saying here with these tire issues, I want to explain this because they're
making um, you know, goodyears coming out and saying, hey,
it's when you put these tires onat low pressure. Okay, you go
out and you run your first coupleof laps, You've already done the damage
to the sidewall. There's no comingback from that. So when you do

(29:04):
that and you don't put it upto the recommended pressure for these tires,
you've already damaged them two laps in, but you're not going to see it
until you get about twenty five lapsonto it when it starts to heat up.
And then that where you know, tore down the rubber, that's where
it's going to break apart. Butif you set the pressure before they go
out, then it's gonna go abovewhat it should. That's right, But

(29:27):
they're saying there and the pressure goesup, right, but they're saying if
they started at the recommended pressure, what teams are doing is they're going below
that recommended So then they're you know, you've seen it where the sidewalls are
all wrinkly looking because they're very lowon pressure. Well, that's tearing the

(29:48):
tire apart inside as soon as theyput the tire on, but you don't
notice it until it builds up thepressure and that's when it tears where that
those the damage is done. Soit takes about twenty five laps for that
to happen. But they're still alsohaving there's a couple of cars that have
the hub issue with the one lugthing. So that's always been a problem.

(30:11):
I'm waiting to see this if they'vegot to restart going here any second.
Now, that's too much to askfor them to be able to,
you know, put a deep pressurizationswitch of some sort, so they could
start, you know, with alower pressure and raise the pressure or raise
the pressure when they start, andthen they release some of the pressure as
they start to build. Yeah, yeah, so it doesn't go over Yeah,

(30:34):
because here's what here's what tire pressuredoes. So if you start low
and you can build that, it'sa longer run you can make, right,
So if you start with a higherpressure, it's a shorter run you
can make because the tire is gonnawear. But I like what you're saying,
though, is you start at whateverthe recommend it is, you start
to build, you can release someof that and keep that run going.

(30:56):
But that's technology I don't think NASCARwants to dip into again. That's why
people people have asked me, whyare these cars weaving back and forth so
quickly like the F one, Whyare they doing that? Why are they
doing that that stick heat the tiresup and to get them up to what's
known as the operating window of thattire so that it sticks. Yeah,

(31:18):
I mean because you go out oncold tires. Can you imagine if F
one really went out on cold tiresbecause they do have tire warmers. Oh
yeah, they're one of the onlysports that do that. Um, no
other sport really does that won't allowthem. Yeah, can you imagine those
types of cars going out with thatthat cold of a tire like you see
in some of these other series.Right off the track. There's stiff now

(31:41):
because they're running the eighteen inch wheels. Um, it's the cars are just
knocking, you know, it's liketeeth chattering. Yeah, they're so stiff,
but you know, going out there, I see it again. It
goes back to keeping the series ata decent level play field when it comes
to money, because NASCAR is notgonna do something like that. That's gonna

(32:04):
wish I do. Wish they doone thing here, here's a money saving
thing. Now, people will losejobs and that's not cool. But I
would love to see the cars havethe air jacks instead of guys running around.
It's too dangerous on pit lane. How many you know how many guys
are gonna get hurt out there. You know, it's ultimately gonna happen again.

(32:28):
It's happened before where people really gottenhurt on pit lane. It's been
pretty safe over the last you know, decade. But I will say this,
I would love to see that carcome into pits. The air jacks
go up, they come out, change tires, air jacks go down,
the car takes off. That's alwaysbeen part of the NASCAR show. Though.

(32:49):
You know as a pit crew, how fast they can do this.
You know, when you when yourun into two point three second pit stops
like F one, that's incredible, eight or no second ones an IndyCar because
they're fueling, then you begin toask yourself, all right, what's the
real show here? And I agreewith you now it will You know that

(33:12):
type of system. You're not liftinga fifteen hundred pound car, You're lifting
a three thousand pound car. Yeah, so it's gonna it's gonna add some
weight to the car for sure, and some complexity. I mean, let's
face it, they're having a hellof a time with the center locks as
it is. Yeah, which Ijust don't get you, but I will

(33:34):
say they're composite. The composite bodiesare holding up very well. These cars
sometimes will get into a wall andit's like no damage whatsoever, which has
been really great because in past, you know, the backdeck lids flying off,
you got crap all over the trackbecause it doesn't stay on the car.
What was it last week they hadthat wreck where the car rolled over

(33:57):
and the tire literally broke off andcaught up underneath the car and it stayed
with the car. It was tetheredto the clever body, stayed in pretty
good shape. I mean it wasreally they've really toughened up and made these
cars very rigid to compete and goout on the track and do the direction
they're going. I'll put it thatway. I do like the direction the

(34:17):
NASCAR's going. Um. I foundit odd that a lot of the drivers
are complaining about the sequential shifter.Yeah, I mean, how hard is
that? It's so easy to useyou know, first, say a third
fourth, you know, and whenyou're down shifts, it's just forward,
that's all it is. I mean, it's like, what aren't you getting

(34:39):
I don't know why they're having troublewith that, you know, but apparently
they are. Yeah, who wasit. It was even Kevin Harvick.
Kevin Harvick's not a guy who youknow, he pretty much gets everything pretty
much right away. And he spuncoming off of the pits um and he
just screwed up his shifting how howhow he was doing it? And uh,

(35:00):
you know, I've only ran oncewith that type of shifter. It
was in Bertle Ruse. No,it wasn't Bertle Ruse. Did they have
that, No, No, itwas not. I've done it with Lucas
you know, with the paddles.Yeah, that was the first race.

(35:22):
It was six years ago. ButI just helped him set the cars up
and there was and I was usedto it. In two laps, I
felt like this is great. Yeah, look at me. I'm in Formula
one, you know. Hey,yeah, fell here they go. They
go back to green. Right now, Kyle Busch is in the lead.

(35:45):
You also have Joey Lugano on theinside, uh, finishing going second.
You have Kurt Bush on the outside, Blaney back up there in fourth position,
and right now Joey Lagono has takenthe lead the crossover move, but
now Kyle is pushing him up againstthe wall as we speak, and going

(36:05):
underneath him to try and make thepass in three and four, and it
looks like he's gonna clear him,but Joey's gonna do the crossover move and
it looks like it's gonna pay off. Joey Lagano is going around Kyle Bush
and it looks like Kyle is fallingback the second. The white flag is
out right now, so we'll seeif he makes it around. So yeah,

(36:28):
um the showing Samantha Bush, helooks kind of pissed. Well.
You love when the wives up onthe top of the boxer getting in the
game. Which one of those guysis divorcing Kurt Kurt Kurt, Yeah,
Kurt, Yeah, Yeah, that'suh yeah. I mean Joey Legono,

(36:49):
Kyle Busch, Ryan Blaney, Well, Kurt Busch Blaney, Eric Almarola,
Ross Chastain, Martin Tucks Jr.H. And then you have Eric Jones
and Christopher Bell round out your topten and the Ghana goes to victory Lane
in the Cup Series. So congratulationshim. Pretty good race out here.
And I will say they talked aboutthis track not being able to pass man,

(37:10):
but they were going four and fivewide at times on that long straightaway
and then getting into these corners whichweren't bank very much like one and two
is like eleven degrees, so it'smakes it almost like a Darlington without the
paper clip shape. Yeah. Yeah, well, I mean those are tough

(37:30):
tracks, they really are. Imean it's sort of like Indy that's a
very difficult track, especially if younever let off the gas. Yeah.
In Formula one, just an interestingnote. Yeah, the FI president Muhammad
been Salam, he said that moretraining is needed for race control. They

(37:51):
need years of training, years andyears of training. You think, I
mean, you would think by nowthat they've got people that take their place,
but they apparently don't. You know, listen what happened then, what
happened with the guy before, withthe at the end of the year last
year, with the championship and lettingthe wave by people and all that that

(38:14):
kind of played out. I thoughtit was Listen, it was the heat
of the moment. It was sucha split second decision. I don't know
why what with the big uproar waswhen that happened, and why they kind
of shoved them out the door likethat, and then they bring a guy
in and then Hamilton. Hamilton wasscreeching. He wasn't gonna race. He

(38:37):
wasn't gonna race. I mean,don't race, man, That's what I
said. But he threatened. Hewas threatening the f I am Formula one.
I'm not gonna show up. Ifyou do, I'm not gonna show
up. Well, so far thisyear, who gives a crap? He
hasn't shown up, shown up andyou know in the camera either, Yeah,

(38:58):
not the same. Mercedes isn't goingto take a jump, but that
jump's gonna stop because they're they're theones complaining about budget caps. Ferrari and
Red Bull, those three teams arecomplaining about these budget caps. So any
development they do, they better comeup with some sorcery to be able to
get that car where it needs tobe. I mean, hats off to

(39:22):
him for trying the almost zero sidepodtype of design, but man, that
might have worked in a wind tunnelbid, damn shore doesn't work in real
life. And that's one thing. If they limited wind tunnel time, you
know, that'll lower the budget rightthere quite a bit. Yeah, and

(39:43):
that was another one of Steiner's things. You know. Yeah, they lorded
the damn wint On and they don'tspend so much. The idiots. You
know, he's That's not a badimpression. Man, I love him.
Everybody at Monica was trying to gettheir picture taken with Gunther. Yeah,
he was the man. You know. They wanted their picture taking with him.

(40:07):
Who's at Hamilton and no, no, no, where's Gunther? You
know, I will say this.Um. There is also some rumors with
m Max for Stappin talking about whenhis contract ends in twenty twenty eight,
may walk yeah, he may walkaway and say hey, this is it,
you know, and not be oneof those drivers that you know,

(40:27):
try to continue their careers and dropdown to a lower team and drop down.
I kind of respect that man.I think that's he said. He
wants to go have fun. He'sstill a kid, Yeah he is.
I mean at seventeen years old hejumped into an F one car. He
only did one season in F threeand it was one particular race where Helmet

(40:52):
Marco saw him driving the rain.He was two seconds a lap faster than
anyone else and Marco that's how Marcogot him for Red Bull because Mercedes was
after him. It was a battlebetween Mercedes and Red Bull, and Red
Bull stepped up to the plate afterthat one race. Yeah, when helmet

(41:14):
Marco saw that, he went, this guy's different, he's generational. So
we've got it. You know, you don't get many drivers like this with
this kind of talent very often. So let's get him. And they got
him, and he, you know, very stopping has just said, hey,
when I'm done well that one,I'm not going to do anything else.
And he can't blame him, No, not really. I mean his

(41:36):
whole life has been spent from sixyears old all the way up to now,
he's done nothing but race and nowhe's a multi multi millionaire. Oh
yeah, I mean he came intothe air where the drivers were getting paid,
you know, where they don't haveto go. Oh. I mean
even Alonso did too, but notas much as what you know Max has

(41:57):
done, Lewis has done, youknow that kind of thing with these guys.
Also still a third highest paid driver. I know, it's amazing,
dude. He's like he's like,it's like, okay, we know you
can drive a Car's just not ina car that he can drive, right,
It's not it can't perform. Weknow the car is the limit.
He's making the car do more thanit's supposed to do. But yeah,

(42:21):
with Alonso, Alonso has the abilityto charge a team up and to really
get the team working together. Andhe's got a unique ability to call strategy
from the cockpit of the car ratherthan the pit wall. But Nodo from
Ferrari when he was with Ferrari,Alonso was there and he said it was

(42:42):
stunning. He couldn't believe how whatfools Alonso would make out of the pit
wall strategists that he couldn't from thecockpit say leave me alone. I know
what's happening and shoulder because they're showingthe Ross Chastain Denny Hamley deal. Because
there's probably gonna be some type offight here in a minute. These guys

(43:04):
were going at it on track man. Yeah, yeah, but I'm interested
to see what's gonna happen there becausethese guys literally were going at it on
on track. Yeah, he's prettymuch going right to the hollar, so
he didn't get caught up anything.Yeah, Oh yeah, that'll fight.
Yeah I finish. But yeah, you know, I can respect the guy

(43:27):
who says, you know what,I'm young, I got I got a
championship, maybe multiple championships. I'vemade my money it's I wanted to do
something. I want to do.At fifty million a year, that ain't
bad pay. I mean that's ahell of a salary. And then he
gets, you know, endorsements ontop of that, so he's got to

(43:47):
be at the seventy million dollar mark. Hamilton's right there. Hamilton's probably with
endorsements is more probably high. Hamilton'svery popular, and you know they want
to you know, he'll he'll gointo music, acting, activism, you
know, you name all right.I got a busy week coming up.

(44:08):
I went to some car shows today. I went to, uh, the
one that's out here and we havecaffeine and octane and then we have one
where everybody kind of goes as likecigar bar afterwards and there's yeah, it's
really cool. You go hang outthere. I got some videos I gonna
put up on social smoke cigars outearlier in the day. No, I
didn't have one, um because Ionly yeah, I do one every now

(44:30):
and then. I know. I'mnot a huge I'm not a four nice
quite to raise out there. Imay fire one of the babies up tonight.
That's right, Go ahead on thedeck, sit by the pool,
chill out. Yeah, chilling outis just not something I can do.
I you know, it's the weirdestthing. I mean, if I were

(44:50):
cycling again or something, that'd bemy relaxation. But yeah, I've always
had a real problem with relaxing andhaving fun, you know. I mean
I used to enjoy fishing, butnever it's kind of like, Okay,
gotta have the boat, gotta dothis, gotta do that. You know,
all this equipment, and at theend of the day you just kind

(45:10):
of grow out a crap like that. Yeah. Then Monday, I'm going
to the BMW in South Carolina. The manufacturer there gonna take to the plant
Tour, which is going to bepretty cool. Can't wait for that.
I'm really excited about that. Thistomorrow morning, well, head out there
and watch that. And then Wednesday, Thursday, Thursday, and Friday we're

(45:32):
heading up to the Highlands to gosee the Motor Festival up there, which
is a big deal in this area. Yeah, it's gonna be a good
one. What's good about BMW isthe newer ones coming out. They've begun
to reduce that hideous face here frontface here. It's like this big no.

(45:52):
They've brought those girls down again, thank god. I mean it looks
like some sort of I don't know, a fish. I'm gonna at a
lamprey about the last one of yourass. You know, I'm a big
Ferrari guy. I have that withsome of the Ferraris though, where he
has that weird fish smiley faced thing. I'm like, yeah, it just
looks weird to me. You know, my my car of choice, if

(46:17):
I were going to drive a cararound, it's a Porsche of C four
s that I can modify. Yeah, say a manual that I can modify
myself. That's that's as. Youcan grank them up every day, drive
them every damn day, that's right, and you can make them haul ass.
I mean I can take four hundredand twenty five horses and bump it

(46:37):
up the you know five ten man. That's all you in the world you
ever need, you know, Imean it truly is for a street car.
These guys are these seven underdoorsepower cars. I'm eighty percent of the Ferraris
out there get crashed one way orthe other. They smash the wheels or
something goes wrong. All that arethey just sitting polish them during the week.

(47:02):
You know, well, that's partof the problem. You can't with
a car. You still have toYou can't leave it in there. You
can't not start it. You can't. You know, you have to get
it out. You have to takeit on rides at least every weekend.
You know. I see these guysthat put these cars in these warehouses and
they just sit there and by thetime it's time to do anything. Now,
well, now I gotta change allthese gaskets. I gotta do this.

(47:23):
You gotta change this fluid. Igotta do And I'm like, if
you just took it out, enjoythe car, that's yeah. Yeah.
For me, it's a I'm alisten. I'm not the guy that's got
a lot of money that can carcollect like that and go sell a car
and make money. I'm the guy. If I ever get a car like
that, I'm driving the piss outof it. I mean, I'd like

(47:45):
to have another E Type. Imean, we grew up with all nothing
but jags and uh, I'd loveto have another E type coupe that was
resta moded you know that. AndI know who'd do it too. A
friend of mine, John on Sacramentoum be able to put, you know,
a nice straight six in there, but have e FI instead of the

(48:07):
carburetors or modern uh you know types. It would be a hybrid of both
the running gear and the dash andyou know, the Series one would have
the covered headlights. It would havecovered headlights. So it would be a
hybrid of both the aesthetics and ofthe mechanical running. If you could drive

(48:29):
it every day, you know, get in and go every damn day.
And that's that's what I like.I like to drive. I don't like
to polish. Yeah, I likedoing both, but driving is the best
part, right, I want notenough of that crap. You can call
my son. That's what he does. Autohexes is autohex Concepts. Oh he's

(48:50):
got a business now, yeah,he's got one. That's it's going really
well. Man. He's actually workingfor another company as well here in Atlanta
with high end cars. They sellhigh end cars and all that stuff.
But all good, all right,Uh, I think that's it, man,
Um, pretty good show today.Had a lot going on in the
racing world, recap most of it, and uh got a busy week coming
up. So look from my postat Rob Demiko r O B D I
