so be sure to check that out, and you can follow us on social
at race day Nation as well.So some very cool things going on this
(00:43):
week, one of them not beingf one Mo because they have their summer
break going on at the moment,so we won't see any action from those
guys in a few weeks here. But you know that's all right. You
know, we'll get Michelle. Michelle'sgoing to have the day off today,
but he'll be back for show totalk a little f one get the news
and rumors out of that series goingon there as well. So some cool
(01:06):
cool things coming out over there.Um real quick though, I gotta let
make mention that the show is presentedby Rhino Classified. That's right, you
sell fast and list for free atRhino dot. CEO. All right,
we mentioned the break with the fone IndyCar was in Music City, and
man, I gotta tell you, there were a lot of yellows. There,
(01:27):
a lot of crashing going on.I love going to Indie. I'm
sorry Nashville, but you know,it's one of those places that you get
there and it's tight quarters around thecity of Nashville. It is a beautiful
city. If you ever have theopportunity to go, you must uh And
it's a great city to go tojust for the nightlife itself, the bands,
(01:49):
the little bars, the places youcan go and enjoy. It is
a blast to go. But racingin the city and then the downtown streets
of Nashville pretty impressive. So Igive those guys props for going there and
putting on one hell of a show. We'll get into that coming up here
in a minute. We'll also talkabout NASCAR. They were in the Irish
(02:12):
Hills of Michigan and another driver winsthe race and gets into the playoffs.
We'll talk about that, and itcleans up basically a very big dry spell
for this driver, so we'll talkabout that coming up here on the program.
IMPS was at Road America and ateam wins there for the first time
(02:36):
at Road America, so we'll getinto that coming up later on in the
show. And also what was interesting, IMPS had their State of the Sport
at Road America, which they doevery year, and some interesting things coming
out of there. Because we know, we've seen the new Cadillac, which
is really cool. You see thiscar out on track they've been testing,
they were at Seabring. They dohave a test coming up in think late
(03:00):
October or late September, early Octoberwith the new car before they hit the
Petite Lament out there. But theyhave the you know, they have the
Lamborghini, they have this Cadillac. They also have this Porsche that they're going
to be doing in this These aresome beautiful cars. And don't forget next
year's new car with the other Porschewith the GT three R. This is
(03:23):
a beautiful race car. Man.So some cool things coming out of IMPS
that we'll get into. We're alsogoing to hit news and rumors in the
world of racing, most of itNASCAR related, but we'll get into that
as well, and we're going hitthe NASCAR playoff picture becoming more clear.
Now, Listen, you have oneopportunity to make this race. I'm sorry
(03:46):
to make these playoffs, and youhave to win to get in. Basically,
right now, it's Ryan Blaney sittingon the edge looking in at the
moment. But if somebody else winsthat hasn't won on the season, Like
we almost saw Bubba Wallace who hadthe pole position there, congratulations to him.
We'll hear from him later on theshow as well. We're gonna hear
(04:10):
from a couple of guys. We'regonna hear from Ty Gibbs, We'll hear
from I think John Dunan's gonna beon the show here. We're also going
to be talking to Kevin Harvick crewchief Rodney Childers, so we'll be talking
a lot of these guys, andI think also Richbrook Westbrook, I forget
(04:31):
his name off top of my head. The Ford Performance guys gonna be joining
us as well, talking about thetrophy they're bringing home in Michigan, which
is a big deal for these guysbecause they want to bring it back to
Detroit. And we're you know manufacturers. You have Chevy and Ford there that
little battle going on and Toyota.I gotta be honest with you, man.
They poured it on in Michigan andit looked like they were going to
(04:54):
be able to pull something off hereand break that streak with Ford, but
unfortunately it didn't work out for them. And you saw the emotion in Bubba
Wallace after the race, just veryhard on himself and I gotta be honest
with you, he doesn't listen. It is a very you know, physical
sport, but it also is verymental as well. This kid got out
(05:16):
of that car and was so disappointedwith second. Knew he had a car.
Knew he had a fast car becausehe sat on the pole. Was
the fastest pole speed so far thisyear. And Michigan is one of those
places that you can run full throttleinto one and two and then carry that
down the back. As long asyou're getting out of two the correct way,
you can do that. Unfortunately, with the new car, there's a
(05:39):
few things there. It slows thecar down a little bit, at least
it feels like the speeds are slow. They were down a little bit on
speed coming into Michigan. From theold car to the new car. So
we'll get into all that coming up. What we are going to talk about
next in the next segment is theNASCAR Cup Series at Michigan, Michigan,
get you all the results and everythingyou're looking for the so stick around.
(06:02):
This is race day Nation. Welcomeback. This is race day Nation.
I'm Rob Demico. Don't forget. You can find us on the web at

(06:25):
O N. Don't forget. Youcan follow me on social as well at
Rob Demiko. It's r O Bd Amiico. This show is presented by
Rhino Classifies, Sell Fast and listfor free right there at Rhino dot COO.
So we appreciate those guys coming onboard. Don't forget to visit them
because it does go a long way. We were talking about the Cup Series
(06:47):
racing at Michigan, and I gottabe honest, man, you know,
with the Bubba Wallace getting the pollthere, I thought, man, this
is a great opportunity for this guyto get the victory lane and really showcase
what he's able to do. Uh, and it really meant a lot because
he knew he had the car,he knew he can get the job done.
(07:09):
Unfortunately fell short of that. Herehe is before the race talking about
that pole position that he had checkedthis out. Yeah, no, it's
awesome. Proud of my team continuingto uh to show up and battle and
and and give it all we got, you know, like that's the obviously
the goal every time you start aseason, and uh, no, matter
what's thrown actually throughout the season, you gotta keep showing up and putting on
(07:31):
that face and and executing. Andman, we've we've been one of the
best teams these last couple of weeks. And I came up with the radio
after the first run and um said, it's fun to have fun, and
it's pretty fun right now. Yeah, pretty fun. Indeed, these guys
have been pretty impressive. And Igotta be honest with you, man,
(07:53):
he's running good. He had Ithink that was he had four straight.
Um, I think it's four straighttop tens. It could be his third.
So yeah, so that was hisfourth top ten in twenty twenty two.
Congratulations coming in second yesterday after havingthe poll there, so some really
good racing going on at Michigan, and Michigan again is a very fast track.
(08:18):
It is one of these places thatwhen you go and you see these
guys, you see that speed they'recarrying in the turn one and sometimes they
can keep that throttle full throttle goingthrough one and two. It depends on
how you get to the corner andcoming off at two, because that car
will lift up and lighten up alittle bit and start to drift out to
the wall. So very interesting. And I don't know if you've had an
(08:39):
opportunity to get on I Racing andtake part in that, but man,
it is a blast to race thattrack, There's no doubt about that.
And there's no out of bounds withthat white line down by the bottom of
the track. So very interesting. But it was Kevin Harvick yesterday. Congratulations
to him in that number four, the seven four to forty six year old
(09:03):
Kevin Harvick. He probably feels likeseventy four after that winless streak that he
went through, finally breaking that gettingthe win at Michigan in that bush light
apple Ford getting it to Victory Lanefor his owner Tony Stewart and Stewart Hoss
Racing also his crew chief Rodney Childersthere. It was his fifteen ninth victory
in seven hundred and seventy seven races. This was his first victory and twelfth
(09:26):
top ten finish in twenty twenty two, the eighth straight for Ford. Toyota
really tried, man, I gottagive him props. They tried hard to
get that victory and just couldn't pullit off. But we do have I
think I have him right here.Give me one second, I'm gonna pull
us up as we're sitting here andwe have Yeah, Mark Rushbook Brooke talking
(09:50):
about Ford getting that heritage trophy andbringing it home. So cool opportunity for
these guys. Checked this out well. It was a great day. Great
a lot of changes for the leadand strength across all the different manufacturers,
but especially when it counted at theend to have Kevin and Stuart Host get
(10:11):
such a strong restart and get clearof everybody, and we had Lagano and
Blaney up there as well, andgood to see all those boards up there.
And when it counted, Kevin droveaway and had a really convincing win
and really important to get him lockedinto the playoffs. But also here in
our backyard for the Heritage Trophy. To take that trophy back to Dearborn.
(10:33):
Yeah, exciting times for those guys, There's no doubt. And they love
it, man, they love bringingthat trophy back. It means a lot
to these manufacturers to bring down home, bring that trophy home and sit it
on a manplin Ford has done itnow. I think like six in a
row or something like that. Maybeit's even eighth straight. I said,
yeah, eighth straight going back fortheir victory. So let's take a look
at the Cup results from yesterday's raceat Michigan. We mentioned Kevin Harvey getting
(10:58):
the win. Bubba Wallace also wementioned getting second, Denny Hamlin, Joey
Logano, Ryan Blaney just barely hangingon it. And we'll get into all
that with the playoff picture. Alsobattling it out with Martin Truex Junior.
Martin Truex Junior got knocked out. We'll talk about that coming up here in
a little bit as well. KyleLarson, Eric Jones, Alex Bowman and
(11:20):
Tie gives. That's right, TIgives, man. I gotta give this
some props in the car for KurtBush. Kurt still not cleared, gets
in that ride and is able toget a top ten finish. This kid
is going places man. And youknow some people talk, oh, he's
got the silver spoon, Grandpa's gotthe team. They're moving him up.
He's got all the money. They'reputting the sponsors behind him. But guess
(11:43):
what, he's getting it done. He's got the job done. He got
a top ten yesterday. And Iknow the Toyotas came out strong. Like
I mentioned, I think it wasthey had three forwards in the top ten.
They had four Toyotas in the topten and three Chevys in the top
ten. So a very important racefor the manufacturers. But Ti Gibbs,
(12:03):
I gotta give him prompts. Andwe're gonna take a break here, bro.
When we come back, we're goingto do the playoff pictures coming up.
We're gonna hear from Kevin Harviick,We're gonna hear from Rodney Childers.
It's all coming up next right hereon Race Day Nation. So stick around.

We were talking about the race atMichigan and I don't keep struggling with that
word. I don't know why,um, but we're talking about Michigan and
the race there, Kevin Harvick winningthat race and uh having his daughter there
and getting the flag and putting herin the car, and what a special
(13:28):
moment for this guy and killing thatfinally killing that dry sprout that he went
through with not winning a race. Now here he is in the press conference
after the race talking about getting thevictory lane. Cool stuff. It means
a lot, you know, Ithink, um, you know, as
as we went through the first partof the season and you know, really
(13:50):
not having everything where we wanted tobe, and we just really just kept
our heads down, um, youknow, and just kept communicating and working
and working through what we thought ourweak points were. And you know,
really over the last five or sixweeks, the cars have run a lot
better, and you know a lotof that goes to just you know,
Rodney and Steve and Dax and everybodyjust um, you know, kind of
(14:15):
just thinking about what we need todo different and trying things and and really
it's it's gone smoothly over the lastseveral weeks, um, you know,
in the simulator at the racetrack andthe way that things have have raced,
and so today it just and wedidn't have anything work against us, you
know, that's the That's the biggestthing that that happened today. Pocono and
Loud and kind of in the sameposition and just didn't have the end of
(14:37):
it go right. And today itwent our way and we were in position
to capitalize on it. Yeah.Man, great stuff and probably a very
special moment for him as a parentto have his kid in the car and
just have that very very special momentwith the daughter. He had his son
in and uh, you know,I think it was before the race they
(15:00):
were talking about, Hey, Dad, I didn't know you brought you know,
put Keelan in the car. Whendo you get the victory lane and
let me in? And then itfinally happened obviously today, So some good
stuff coming out of Michigan. AndI want to play one more clip here.
I'm gonna pull it up here,so give me one second. It's
talking about the dry spell between youknow, Kevin Harrick and the crew chief
(15:22):
and what it means to them andwhat they've done behind the scenes to finally
get it done and what this youknow, takes that weight off their shoulders
and now going into the playoffs. And I can tell you a team like
this, you don't want that teamto be the guy that gets hot at
the end of the season going intothe playoffs like he can do. There's
a guy. And if you lookat like IndyCar and you have a guy
(15:45):
like Scott Dixon's fourth end points Ibelieve right now, but one yesterday which
we'll get into here in a minute, but he can quietly start shipping away
and make his way up into thatpoint lead. And Kevin Harvick's also one
of those Scots. Let's take alisten to Rodney Childers and Kevin Harvick in
the press box. I mean, you know, for for me, it's
(16:07):
it's um. You know, obviouslyyou'd much rather win, UM, but
you know, the end of lastyear, you know, it's kind of
like this year, we weren't wherewe wanted to be. Um. You
know, they they kind of tookcontrol and did did the things that that
they wanted to do with the cars, and by the end of the year
we were in contention to to winraces and it didn't. It didn't work
out. Um, but you know, to get to victory lane and this
(16:29):
year started the same way, andthey keep their heads down, head down,
and grind away and just start dotingeyes and crossing t's and next thing,
you know, it comes together. So I've been through longer winning the
streaks, and you know, it'sit's fun to go through it with the
with the same group of guys. When you finally pop out of it and
you're like, man, all thatwork feels pretty good now. Rodney,
(16:51):
Yeah, same thing. Um,you know, when you when you go
from winning ten or eleven races ayear to to doing that, it's definitely
a mental strike goal. Um,you know. And and like he said,
it just comes down to the peoplethat are around you. And uh,
you know what what certain people youknow say every day and the way
our team meetings go in the mornings, and um, just that dedication and
(17:14):
and everybody nobody really ever changed alick. Um, you know, every
single morning we act the same.We talk about you got cut off there,
but unfortunately we cut him off.But he was talking about how hey,
listen, this is you know, finally get that you know, weight
off your shoulders. You get backto it, and now that that wind's
(17:37):
done, now we can move forwardin and do something with it. So
uh, making the playoffs, thisis their opportunity they got in. We're
gonna get into that coming up inthe next few segments. But coming up
next we're gonna be talking about therace that Indie had on the streets of
Nashville. And I gotta tell you, I love watching. Uh listen,
the track is not perfect. I'mgonna say that right now. The traffic
(18:00):
is not perfect. They need todo some work. I would hope they
were able to find a little bita different route on some of the once
they go over the bridge. Ilove watching those cars go back and forth
on the bridge. I love goingaround where the stadium is. But when
they come and get back into kindof downtown area, I was hoping they'd
find something a little bit different therethat they could, you know, manage
(18:25):
a little bit better so it's notso narrow. We did see a crash
happen, blocked up the track. You've got guys involved in things they shouldn't
have been, and just some verydifficult moments for the indiecar guys. But
that being said, it was apretty good race and I did enjoy the
trans am race. If you didn'thave an opportunity to watch that, check
(18:45):
it out. It's on YouTube.Maybe I'll put a link on our website,
race day Nation dot com, butyou can see that there as well.
All Right, we're gonna take abreak, come back. We're going
to talk about the indiecar race atNashville. Stick around. I'm Robbed Demiko.
This is Race Day Nation, thisis race Donation. I'm Robbed Demiko.

kind of convenient, isn't it.All Right? Let's see here, we're
talking about indie car and indiecar racingat Nashville, and it got to be
(19:29):
honest with him, and they puton a great show. It was a
little bit of a rain delay, but that's okay. They finally got the
race in. It was not necessarilythe rain. It was more about the
lightning delay. Had to clear thefans, and I think once a lightning
strike happens, you have a halfhour with no lightning and then you can
get everybody back at the track andget back to a regular schedule. We
(19:52):
were talking about it before the breakthat how narrow this track is, and
it is. It is very narrow, but it is a very cool track
because it crosses over a bridge,it crosses back over, it goes into
downtown. It brings you around theStadium, And this is a place,
man, I gotta tell you,if you've never been to Nashville, it's
one hell of a city. Oneit looks beautiful journing day and at night,
(20:14):
man, it turns into a wholenother place. Great dive bars,
great entertainment, singing, all thatstuff. Really cool to see. But
Scott Dixon, I gotta give himprops, man, getting back to Victory
Lane. And this is a guywho he kind of struggled early on in
the race, but he was ableto to make some headway and get back
(20:37):
at Victory Lane. It was fiftythree wins in his career. He's second
on the all time list, socongratulations to him. Ganassi owns this place,
winning THEO both races here in Nashville, so congratulations to him. Dixon
now moving up in points and lookingfor his seventh championships, so that'd be
(21:00):
pretty cool to watch him if he'sable to pull pull all that off.
So let's look at the results inIndyCar. It was Scott Dixon, asn't
mentioned Scott McCloughlin, who had hisparents there and have been here in the
States from New Zealand for a fewweeks now. And absolutely love it.
Thought he had an opportunity. Unfortunatelya late yellow kind of took that away.
(21:25):
Alex Below was third, and AlexanderRossi and Colton Herder round out your
top five. Those two guys withAndrettie Ottosport actually had some trouble during the
race, and I didn't think theywere gonna make it up back up that
high, but they did, anduh, pretty impressive to see because Andrettie
was not having a great day yesterday. Their entire team was off and for
(21:49):
them to rebound like that and havea fourth and fifth pretty impressive. Then
it was Joseph Newgarden, Felix Rosenquest, Christian lung Guard, Simon Paganeo,
and Jack Harvey round out the topten. So what does that look like
for points right now? We'll getinto that here in a second. But
you had some of the things,uh, Like I mentioned, Andretti had
(22:11):
a bad day, a bad day, Graham Ray all had a bad day,
rookies taking out each other, Kirkwoodand Meluca those two having a bad
day. Jimmy Johnson had a badday with eight laps to go, crashed
basically in the same manner, inthe same corner he did last year,
so Nashville has not been friendly didJimmy Johnson and I thought he was going
(22:34):
to have a decent finish day towardsthe end, but just couldn't pull it
off. As I mentioned, ScottDixon with the fifty three wings puts him
second on the all time lists. So what does that do for points right
now? Well? Will Powers stillyour points leader at four hundred and fifty
Marcus Ericson, Joseph Newgarden, ScottDixon fourth, but he's not that far
(22:55):
behind. It's starting to get realtight withouse top four guys. Paddle Award
is fifth, sixth alex Pelow, seventh, Scott McLaughlin, Phelix Rosenquest,
Alexander Rossi, and rounding out thetop ten is Colton Herda. Uh.
These guys really pouring it on rightnow and it's been impressive to watch.
(23:15):
And the IndyCar guys I think havelet me see her coming up later on.
They had they had to Phoenix, that's where they go. So they
had to Phoenix, which is atrack like you know Mohegy was for these
guys in Japan, So it'll beinteresting to see what they're able to do
at another oval. I'm not ahuge guy with the IndyCars on ovals,
(23:40):
but again we've talked about this onthe show. That's what separates them from
NF one and other open wheel seriesthat they don't just do street and road
courses, they also do the oval. So they go out to Phoenix and
it should be something that they enjoyout there with Phoenix is a little bit
bigger, you got a little morespace to run. You can get three
(24:00):
or four wide in these corners andreally make things happen. So for me,
Phoenix is a little different than likean Iowa where they did the double
header I think two weeks ago,So I'll look for good things coming out
of Phoenix. Should be pretty coolto watch. But again, congratulations goes
out to Scott Dixon with that win. Very impressive moving up into Points and
(24:22):
again quietly getting it done. Canhe get up there with a few races
to go and make something happen inthis Points Championship? Will find out There's
no doubt about that because mentioned itbefore. This is a guy that can
get it done and has a missionof trying to get that seventh championship.
And I don't know what it iswith those numbers. You know, you
(24:42):
had Richard Petty getting that number,Jimmy Johnson getting that number, Dale or
not getting that number. I thinkeven John Force, some of these guys
getting that number, and now Scottand going for that number seven championship should
(25:03):
be pretty neat to watch. Allright. When we take a break,
we're gonna come back and talk alittle imps because there's a lot going on
in the world of imps right nowwith their race at Road America, So
stick around for that. I'm RobDemiko again. This is Race Day Nation.
We'll be back in the second. This is Race Day Nation. Thanks
for tuning in. I'm Rob Demiko. You can follow along with me at
(25:26):
Rob Demiko. It's r O BD A M Iico. Again, thank
you for tuning in. If you'rewatching on television, Racing America on Zumo,

get it on YouTube. Subscribe toour channel and hit the little notification bell
so you can every time we uploadsomething, you guys are notified and can
(25:49):
watch the show from there. Allright, let's see with imps. We
had some great racing going on thereand it was our friends over at Wayne
Taylor racing, Ricky and uh PhilipAlbert Querque getting the victory there. So
congratulations to those guys. And let'ssee here trying to show the picture there.
(26:11):
It is these guys. Listen, they got it done. They raced
their butts off on this one,and it started off with a little weather.
They had some rain drizzled a littlebit. Ricky was in the car
first and then uh, you know, Felipe got in the car second.
And it was pretty cool after therace because you saw a nice little embrace
with Wayne Taylor and Phelipe after therace because this is their first time getting
(26:37):
to victory lane at Road America. And it was like Wayne Taylor was welcome,
welcome him to the family, whichwas pretty funny. It's like you
can call me dad in this picture. It looks pretty funny. Actually,
what you can't see in this pictureis off to the right hand side was
Ricky standing there like, hey Dad, you know I am in the family.
(27:02):
Where's my love? But it wasall good man on the podium.
These guys got it done. Thisis the DPI podium and I will tell
you, man, the DPI guysput on one hell of a fight yesterday.
There was some great racing going onit Rode America yesterday. You had
the championship leader with six minutes leftin the race crash out, but was
(27:23):
able to stay in the race, only lost a couple of positions. Could
have ended up a lot worse. And I'm telling you there was a lot
of damage and a lot of debrisall over that track. But the Wayne
Taylor guys got it done. Solet's take a look at DPI on the
podium again. It was the numberten Acura of Wayne Taylor Racing. You
had the O two Cadillac and thenthe one Cadillac rounding off the top three
(27:48):
on the podium there in LMP two. These guys again put on another great
show and it was pretty impressive tosee these guys. But it was the
eighteen of Ra Motorsports getting the victory, the number eight of Tower Motorsports and
the number twenty of High Class RacingLMP three Riley Motorsports there, congratulations Awa
(28:12):
and second in the number thirteen thefifty four of Core Autosports. Congratulations to
those guys in GTD Pro. Itwasn't Ricky's brother Jordan Taylor on the top
of the podium, but he didfinish third with him and Garcia will get
into that here in a second, but you can see that it was the
number fourteen Lexus of Vassar and Sullivangetting to win there the number nine Porsche
(28:37):
for Fat Motorsports. They've been ona tear lately. Man, these guys
have been impressive and I love watchingthis type of racing. This is probably
my favorite race of the weekend. Was the MS of race at Road America,
and then you had the you cansee there the number three Corvette from
these guys in the GTD class.I'm also trying to find. Yeah,
(28:59):
I got right here. So theGTD AM if you will, program getting
it done as well. You hadlet's see, no, that's the DPI.
Maybe I don't have it here.GTD Pro, Yeah, I don't
have it, so I apologize foryou. But we also had the AMG
in GTD get the win there,so congratulations. I would think it was
(29:23):
the AMG, the Lamborghini and thenthe Porsche rounding out the podium there,
So congratulations to all those. Ohno, it wasn't a Porsche was Lexis
getting on the podium there, Socongratulations to those guys in GTD class.
There. So some pretty impressive stuffgoing on in MS and one of the
(29:45):
big things they had their big Stateof the Sport with John Doonan getting on
stage and talking about the different thingscoming up. And I gotta tell you
some really cool things coming up forthe sport. We're gonna get into it
in the next segment. Oh,I'm sorry. We're gonna talk about the
playoffs coming up in NASCAR in thenext segment, and in the following segment
(30:06):
we will do we will touch basewith John Dunan and have him talk about
some of the things they got comingup in the IMPS series. So some
pretty cool things coming up. Again. The playoff picture in NASCAR is in
the next segment, and I thinkyou're gonna be surprised who's hanging on the
edge there, who's gonna make itin, who's gonna make it get kicked
out? And some guys already gotkicked out yesterday after another guy gets the
(30:32):
victory lane. I think that's fifteenon the season. If you can get
the sixteen, that means every driverin the playoffs had to win to get
there, so it's gonna be prettyneat to see how that all plays out
in the next couple of weeks, because they only have three races left and
we're gonna talk about that coming upin the next segment. Don't forget.

do the show with Michelle Rayhall.Unfortunately he's not here this week. We
are doing the show and buy myself. So if I see him a little
(32:00):
like I'm trying to control everything here, I am, trust me, trying
to do it all nice and smoothbehind the scenes here. All right,
So we're talking about the Cup raceat Michigan and these guys, they put
on a good show. Listen.I was impressed with these guys. You
saw Kevin Harvey get the victory lane, Bubba Wallace was second, Denny Hamlin,
(32:21):
Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney, RyanMartin, Tricks Junior, Kyle Larson,
Eric Jones, Alex Bowman, TyGibbs, some of the ones.
They're in the top ten. Sowhat does this do for the points?
It changes everything because you had aguy like Kevin Harvick who had no wins
on the season, was sitting therebarely in the top ten and was sitting
(32:42):
actually outside the top sixteen for theplayoffs. Now he gets in. What
does that do? It pushes MartinTricks Junior out and now he is nineteen
points outside. And Ryan Blaney isthe only guy who does not have a
win. Who who is in theright now as we speak. We still
have three races ago. I'll getinto those here in a second, but
(33:06):
he's in that top sixteen with nowin, with nineteen points to the good
Eric Almolla won ninety back Eric Jonesto ten. And then Bubba Wallace with
a great finish there, moving hisway up into that top twenty, but
still outside that top sixteen. Soguys that could win. You could have
a Bubba Wallace get the victory lane. You could have a Martin Tricks Junior
(33:29):
get the victory lane. And RyanBlaney. I expect all these guys to
be going after wins in these lastthree races right now. Chase Ladius still
your leader. Ross Chastain is sittingthere in second with two wins. William
Byron, Denny Hamilin, Joey Loganol, Tyler Reddick, Kyle Larson, Chase
Briscoe, Chris Bell moves up.You had Daniel Suarez who looked good.
(33:53):
I mean, those guys at thetrack house racing looked awesome yesterday at the
beginning of the race. Unfortunately hadsome issues at the end and didn't want
finish where they needed to. Butso they sit back there tenth and it
was Kurt who's missed a few raceshere, and I gotta give props again
(34:14):
to ty Gibbs coming in tenth placewith that car, so very impressive run
for him. Kid can get itdone, and obviously he's in good equipment,
right, that's a Joe Gibbs racing. Well it's a you know,
twenty three eleven racing, but it'stied in with Joe Gibbs, so you
know, they got a good equipmentthere. Some of the guys that had
(34:37):
trouble yesterday that are in the chase, I should say, in the playoffs,
Austin Cindric finished dead last, gotcaught up in that wreck. Kyle
Bush was another one got caught upin the wreck, finished second to last.
Then Tyler Reddick finished twenty ninth, twenty eighth, Michael McDowell, Christopher
Bell was twenty sixth. Daniel Suarezand teammate Ross Chastain were twenty fourth and
(35:00):
twenty fifth on that list. Sosome of these guys have in some trouble
Luckily they are in the playoffs aswe speak right now, so they'll be
interesting to see if any there's anymovement there. But the important part is
right now with Kevin Harvick getting innow fifteenth in points, you have Martin
(35:21):
Tricks Junior who's literally in regular seasonpoints fourth, but he's outside the top
sixteen with the new you know, the playoff system that we have here,
and wins are everything. Your winand you're in. That's what's cool about
this. And we'll have to seeif somebody in the top right now fifteen
(35:43):
get another win, or can wesee a guy like Ryan Blaney and Martin
Tricks Junior, even to Bubba Wallaceget that victory because he's had I'm telling
you, he's on a roll rightnow. He's had four top ten finishes,
finishing second yesterday, getting the pollswell. So pretty impressive for these
guys at twenty three eleven. Andthen the kid rookie Ty Gibbs again,
(36:08):
I kift this kid props man doinga great job getting up there and having
that victory, I'm sorry, havingthat top ten. So some great stuff
there. I think it was ChristopherBell who had some stage points. You
had Denny Hamlin get some important stagepoints yesterday as well. Let's see who
(36:28):
else Joey Lagano got, m KyleLarson, also Daniel Suarez. Those are
important. Now I think you're gonnasee guys maybe do a little strategy,
especially some of the guys that areup at the front, trying to do
some different things to make that workto gain as many points as you possibly
can leading into these next three races, which the next three races are.
(36:52):
You have coming up our Richmond, which is a short track oval, then
you have Watkins Glen with the roadcourse, and then the Daytona Racetrack,
which is the unknown there that meansanybody can win. And I think that's
where you go. And you lookat a guy like Listen Martin Trucks Junior
(37:15):
could win at Richmond, could pullthat off there. He's a good road
racer. He can also go toDaytona and win. Now, if you
go with Bubba Wallace, you lookat Richmond is okay, but Toyotas do
pretty good there, and then yougo to Daytona. There's always that opportunity,
right. He does great on restrictedplate racing. So it'll be interesting
to see what he's able to dotheir road courses, and he kind of
(37:37):
joked about that in his press conferencebringing it up and kind of everybody laughed.
He's like, hey, what areyou laughing at? I can get
it done, but listen, Idon't know if that's gonna be possible.
All Right, we'll take a breakhere. When we come back, we're
gonna be talking about the IMPSA Stateof the sport with John Dunan. Some
very important things going on there,so we'll talk about that and also what's
(38:00):
coming up for next week or inthe next couple of weeks in the world
of racing. I'm Rob Demiko. This is race day Nation, so stick
around. Welcome back to Race dayNation. I'm Rob Demko. Don't forget
to follow us on our website, race day nation dot com. All the
news rumors are up there from alldifferent types of sources. Also, you

All right, there's a couple ofthings going on, John doun In.
As I mentioned, the IMPS ofPresident was handled the State of the
(38:46):
Sport at Road America. So congratulationsthat these guys putting on one heck of
a presentation because it was all aboutstability and stainability. Where among the key
messages delivered Friday night in imps's annualState of the Sport presentation the stakeholders and
media at Road America, one ofthem was the two thousand and twenty three
(39:09):
IMPS A WeatherTech Championship schedule. It'llfeature a total of eleven races with six
events to feature all five WeatherTech Championshipclasses. Like we saw it Road America
yesterday, which I gotta tell you, man, the DBI class put on
a great show. But what changesnext year is the DPI turns into the
(39:31):
GTP. So you have these coolcars like the Cadillac that'll be out there.
This thing is very futuristic looking. You had the Porsche. So those
are some of the changes you willsee for next year for this sustainability.
Because they will be running hybrid engines, they will you know, consume ten
(39:52):
percent less and fuel. They alsohave tires that will be changed so they
can last longer on the track. So some pretty cool things going on on
an IMPS. But the schedule rightnow, some of the cool things they
have going on there is one isobviously the Petite La Mall is still your
finish there. But they did addthe streets of Detroit, which is going
to be neat and that'll be kindof a conjuncture with NASCAR weekend, so
(40:15):
that'll be a lot of fun.And then you can see race number ten
there with Indianapolis Motor Speedway back onthere. That is going to be cool
as well. All right, Iwant to make mention of the Exfinity race
because we did talk about that earlierwith Ty Gibbs. But Ty Gibbs getting
the victory there, congratulations to him, great job on his part and you
(40:37):
know, just seeing that success showup on the race track and here he
is in the press conference talking aboutthat. Awesome time in this series.
You know, there's been some upand downs, but I've had a very
very fun time and you know itcups us been fun too. So just
kind of doing as much as Ican, work as hard as I can
to be the best I can rightnow, and you know, I'm all
(40:59):
towards the racing. I don't reallyhave any other hobbies, so I just
got there and tried to have best. I can work as hard as I
can. I love that I don'thave any other hobbies. I'm a loser.
This is what I do for aliving. I eat, breathe,
and you know what else I do. But that's it. But uh,
congratulations to him again getting the victorythere. Just an all guy or a
(41:21):
second Noah Gregson, Brendan Jones,Austin Hill, Josh Berry, a j
Olmendinger, Daniel Hemrick, Riley Herbsand Landing Castle round out your top ten
there, So congratulations. But AustinHill also made an announcement about him going
Cup racing, so let's hear himtalk about that. Yeah, very excited
(41:44):
to go go racing the Cup series, finally finbably get my first Cup start.
Better late than ever, right,I'm twenty eight years old, so
getting a little bit later jump onthis, but very excited for r C.
Argument of the opportunity, Bennett andthe United Ls, you know,
all of our partners that making thishappen. So really excited about it.
(42:07):
I can't wait and wait to getout there and just see what we can
do. Our first goal is tojust make all the lap LA and learning
and every lap throughout the race andtrying to take that going forward. So
great stuff there. Congratulations to him. Hopefully he does well and he can
prove himself and move his way upbecause there happens to be a seat open
(42:27):
I think coming next year, There'sno doubt about that. All right,
whe the points look like a jalmen nigger is still your points leader.
Justin all guard, Tye Gibbs,Noah Gregson, Josh Barry and you can
see the rest of the list there. We're up against the clock here.
