Choice's latest price check fourteen items at one hundred supermarkets,
including winter warmers like hot chocolate and porridge. For the
basket without specials, it's Aldi cheapest by more than three dollars,
Woolies thirty cents better than Coal's than IgA. For the
basket with specials, Aldi's cheapest again, but then it's Coals,

a dollar nineteen ahead of Woolies. Then IgA. The gap
between Aldi and the major's narrow wing.

That We've included more fresh fruit and produce, and it
looks like that might be a more competitive kind of category.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
Woolies had the cheapest chicken and pumpkin, Coals cheapest apples,
IgA best on carrots and garlic. The results don't include
the latest Cole's Woolli's discount war, which will show up
next time. The survey also confirming the impact of competition,
finding that in areas that did not have an Aldi,
people on average paid more for their groceries.
