Speaker 1 (00:00):
Robin Terial kit On three.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
I wasn't here for it, Robin, but I understand that
our next guest was broken by you.
Speaker 3 (00:09):
Yeah, you're talking about the beautiful Matt Preston from Masterscheff.
Already know this because he's such a gorgeous human being,
and he was very kind after my boy's dad died
to come to my house and try and help us
do some cooking. And he gave me all of his
cookbooks and he put little post it notes with personal
messages like the boys can try this one and do that,
(00:30):
And then he offered to come to my house after
like days and days of shooting. He was absolutely exhausted
and he took one look at my kitchen and pretty
much died, gave.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Up, but he joins us now welcome Matt Preston.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
Yeah, look amazing, Robin in the kitchen, are worry The
boys are fantastic. They got on really quickly. I felt
they were learning to cook as a method of self
defense's cooking.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
But you know what, Matt, those boys are now eighteen,
twenty one and twenty three, and in two weeks time
they're heading to Europe together to go and fend for
themselves and they have used your cookbooks often, so whatever
you did that day has enabled them to be ready
to fly the nest.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
That is the most amazing payback for a tiny of
my time at.
Speaker 4 (01:13):
The Norman V Hotel. Next week Robin's Can't Cook kitchen,
a menu has been prepared. It is based on many
things that Robin has done before in some part of way,
and she really needs your help to navigate this.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
Matt, I didn't want to do this. I don't want
to do this. This is me being forced into the space.
So just keep that in mind.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
With whatever suggested you get to do. First thing you
need to do, Robin has turned that around. You need
to go in with a positive attitude. You need to
go in with a plan. How many the most second?
How many piody cooking for.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Forty forty four?
Speaker 1 (01:47):
Zero? Okay, You're going to a really positive attitude and
an absolutely brilliant plan because that is a huge Do
you want to come up no, Robins? Okay, all right,
(02:07):
give me quick of the menu.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
Is this the starters to share? We're starting off with
a very simple margarita, pizza, tomato, bassed buffalo, mortorilla and basil.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
You say simple, but the pizza is hard, right, There's
a lot of prep work in terms of shaving the door,
pulling it out, and making the dough and making sure
it rises proves. So first thing you need to get
in the kitchen really early, and you need a prep
plan through the dough of the day before. Have it
balled up so you can actually stretch it out and
have it on your pizza trays. Ready to go. Okay,
make pizzas. You can make less of them. Ongo the
samaro sauce, your cheese, olver, saw in the oven, set
(02:38):
a timer so you don't burn them. Bag into the
oven as people a write so literally that you can
start bringing them out and well, what's the understarter? Is
that something you can make in advance?
Speaker 2 (02:45):
Garlic mushrooms serve with rocket herbs and crispy shallots.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Yeah, easy, easy mushrooms. You can make an advance, but
you can hold them in the oven. Get your rocket
cleaned and ready to go. But you don't need as
like a few leaves on the top of its back. Color.
It's a spoon of the mushroom. It's a handful of rocket.
It's a Christish lot. You can do that really quickly,
all right.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
Now, we're moving on to the mains, and the mains
are an alternate drop twenty of each, so twenty two
and fifty grand rump steaks cook medium with gravy, chips
and salad.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
You're cooking at medium, right, Okay, that's intense because you're
going to have to be on real today. Make sure
your salad is ready to roll. Dress it when you're
serving it. Don't dress for forcus, go horrible. Put all
your steaks on at the same time, and put an
extra steak on the cut open and go. Okay, that's
the level. Steake salad out easy. What's the other set?
Speaker 2 (03:32):
A tunic and cabinara with bacon, palmesan, egg and garlic cream.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
Oh, that's a night man.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
Do you think it's too hard? Do you think it's impossible?
Speaker 3 (03:38):
It's ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
We've got a big day from Normby as well. It's
not like Robin against the world. People around to help
her execute this plan.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Then you've got the secret weapon. You've got your armor
and listen to big days. I think that's achieved. Wele.
You're just going to be organized to minimize the actual
cooking you're doing, so that once the punters are sitting
there pain and nice and Robby. My like Robin. But
I love Robin. You're You're an incredibly impressive, powerful, successful,
smart woman. You have this. You will be able to
(04:07):
do this. I have no doubt. Just don't freak.
Speaker 4 (04:09):
Out to to she's upset.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
Just freaking out, you guys to.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
Me, just fast. You can do do it, mate. I
can't do it, Robin.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
You see me melt down.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
You saw me melt down in my own kitchen.
Speaker 4 (04:32):
I can't do it.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
Robin. You need to believe that you can do it,
and really you can. You've got supporting you.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
Oh I don't you wants me to fail?
Speaker 4 (04:42):
Mate, That's not true.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
That isn't true at all, Robin. Can I just I'll
tell your little story right. I'm doing Dancing with the
Stars at the moment. I am such a bad dancer.
When my kids I said to my kids, think you
want to do the show? They said, you've got to
do it, Dad. You gotta be really funny to do
a terrible dancer. So it's like, you know what to
thing about here? We're talking about little everage. No one
is expecting you to go in there and knock out
(05:04):
a meal like Ben Williamson. It's about going in there
and having little wins. But it's really impressive, and it's
very brave of you to do this. You're going into
an area where you're scared, where you don't think you've
got the ability. But honestly, Robin, I genuinely believe you
can do it. You're just going to have some faith
in yourself. I spent my whole.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
Life avoiding it, Matt.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
I just finally so terrifying.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Failing instead of not only my peers but my children
and listeners.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
I can tell you, knowing your boys, that they will
be so impressed that you are even attempting something I do.
You're showing them that even though you're scared of something,
you're not going to be bad down. You're willing to
take it on and have a go. Honestly, well, what's
the worst thing that can happen? Your personal expectations they're
not high. Celebrate every little success. The Oven's going to
do the work for you. You're so well loved, Robin. Those
(05:54):
forty people sitting in that dining room are going to
be willing you to succeed, and they're going to love
whatever you do. And Tesla and I coodn't show thinks
they're a good cook. That's a certain type of bravery.
But the bravery you're showing doing this, it's inspirational. This
is me with dancing. I'm a terrible dancer. I've found
amazing joy just not falling over Robin on the dance floor.
(06:15):
I'm not it pall over. That's what it's about. And
doing something that really scares you.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
So funny, Matt. I saw on Daily Mail this morning
there's this story of you and they're talking about how
much weight you've lost. Now I know why.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
There is no way I need to Stephen Bradbury all
the other thirteen celebrities to win that thing, right, It's
going to be tough, and I'm going to tell you
I've had mom in that training where I just didn't
want to do it anymore. I wanted to walk away,
and you just go go no, I'm not going to
do that. What is the worst that's going to happen?
Speaker 3 (06:42):
I kill them?
Speaker 1 (06:45):
Luckily that MANU that there's nothing.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
There's no chicken, there's nothing.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
You're freaking out. That's the biggest You face far bigger
challenges and you've come out looking like a superstar right,
this is a small thing. You're Robin Bailey. You your
inspiration to people living Queensland. So you're a good coach.
Matt Preston, Oh my goodness, I want to play for you.
Where are we going? You to the kitchen as well?
(07:12):
Thanks Matt. Babies do not make me cry. I wish I
could give you a big thanks a lot. It's invovant.
