Thank you, Amy Gerard. Most important day of the year.

He's definitely not, but I'll call him later.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Are we still doing Father's Day? The Left haven't canceled
it or not? Am I? Is it birthing persons?

Speaker 1 (01:22):
No, not yet, but I've actually organized something for you
a little surprise. Yeah, she's coming in later. She yes,
she is a person. Yeah, I yeah. I'm hoping it's
going to be okay with Georgie. I might send her
a text a little bit later on, just before she

(01:44):
comes in.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Is this I think I know what this is. You
were saying you wanted to get Australia's number one burlesque
dancer on the show.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
I'm not saying anymore.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
No, it's her, isn't it.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
You have to wait and see. It's coming up in
nine am.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Have you got a burlesque dancer for me for Father's Day?

Speaker 3 (02:04):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
Maybe what time is it coming up? Nine am? Yeah,
I can't wait.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
I have to leave your clothes on.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
Could be a very happy Father's Day. All right, I
will Chris, all right, Amy, I am. I'm excited you
have well, you've brought an incredibly beautiful woman into the studio.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
Yes, I have.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
This morning.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
I've been working tirelessly behind the scenes with my producer.
I really really wanted to get this incredible woman in
because I have tickets to go and see her show.
I'm very excited. My mum is coming, some girlfriends of
mine are coming. I have had her on my podcast previously,
but we have Evanna Delone with us in the studio today.

Speaker 4 (02:49):
Welcome, Hi, thanks for having me.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Thank you so much for joining us.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
So, Evana is a burlesque dancer, Chris, have you ever
seen a burlesque show?

Speaker 2 (02:58):
No, I've I've sort of seen Moulin Rouge. So is
that burlesque? Is that what you do?

Speaker 5 (03:05):
I would say it's a little bit different. Basically, burlesque
is the art of the tees. So there's not enough
teas in the movie for me personally, but the same
kind of idea. We definitely take a lot of inspiration
from that film when we get on stage.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
What inspired you to get into it?

Speaker 5 (03:22):
Well, I danced all my life and then eventually you
get to the point where you start to think to yourself,
maybe it would be more fun if I also took
off some of my clothes.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Well you say that, you say some of your clothes?
So how what role does nudity play of any at all?
Or is it just the tees?

Speaker 4 (03:40):
Well, it is a bit of the teas.

Speaker 5 (03:42):
It's not so much how much of your clothes you
take off, but it's the fun that you have while
you do it. Yeah, and I suppose it's up to
the performer how much of their clothes they want to
take off. Yeah, and if you want to find out
how much I take off, you'll have to come and
see what.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Well I should give the website right now, Evanadalune dot
com for the tickets you're at Labas Supper Club in Melbourne.
That's every Friday and Saturday.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
Correct.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
And the Sydney Fringe Festival as well. For our Sydney
listens from the sixteenth till the twenty first. You can
get tickets from the Sydney Fringe dot com website as well.
If you want to see, well, that's a hell of
a tease. How many clothes I Vanna takes off?

Speaker 5 (04:21):
Yeah? Best.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
I think that what I'm really like fascinated by with
burlesque is I feel like it's the it's like really
classy way of being very powerful on stage and sexual
on stage, but also leaving something to the imagination. Like
obviously you can go to strip clubs and you're just
going to get the full shebang and there's not a

(04:44):
lot of build up to getting to the final piece
to resistance. But I think burlesque is it's like what
you said, it's that teasing, and I think there's just
something so empowering about it.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
It must be really empowering for you as a woman.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
It's absolutely empowering.

Speaker 5 (05:04):
And it's so awesome because a lot of our audiences
tend to be a majority female as well. And there's
nothing like having a big group of women cheering you
on to take your clothes off.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
I look at all of your costumes that you get
to wear, and they're so beautiful, Like there's there's beads
and crystals.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
And feathers everything.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
Have you ever had a like a wardrobe malfunction? Oh?

Speaker 4 (05:27):
All the time the time.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
How do you recover?

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (05:30):
I actually find that the malfunctions are part of the fun.
I always say to my students, who, you know, understandably
get stressed out about things going wrong, But you never
remember a perfect performance. You won't remember all of the
times that everything goes smoothly. But do I remember the
time that my dress got caught and I couldn't take
off any.

Speaker 4 (05:49):
Of my clothes? Absolutely?

Speaker 5 (05:51):
Do I remember the time that my shoe got caught
up in the middle of a crack on the stage
and fully stacked it? Absolutely? And are they some of
my fondest memories on stage?

Speaker 4 (06:01):
Absolutely?

Speaker 1 (06:02):
That's so good, you know, like when you plan a
night and then it goes completely differently.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
They tend to end up being the best nights memory similar.

Speaker 4 (06:12):
So much more memorable.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
And is it just music and dancing on stage or
does a burlesque show have jokes?

Speaker 5 (06:18):
And Yeah, there's a lot of parody in burlesque. I
think that's what really sets burlesque apart. It's very theatrical.
It's not just watch me take my clothes off, which
again there's nothing wrong with that, but it adds this
element of parody, comedy, ridiculousness.

Speaker 4 (06:35):
There's this usually some sort of theme.

Speaker 5 (06:38):
Underlying most of the acts and some sort of storytelling
that comes along with it.

Speaker 4 (06:43):
So it's a fully realized piece, Yeah, which is pretty cool.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
Any have you ever had any really hilarious reactions from
a crowd?

Speaker 5 (06:52):
Yes, I definitely have. I remember this one time. I
had a very obviously gay audience member that I went
up to and asked him to take off my suspender
clip before and he fully freaked out, screaming, I've never
seen one of these before. And then in the end,
when I finally took off my bra I went over
to him and he said, and I've never seen any

(07:14):
of those either, so it's always a really funny interaction
that you can have with audience members and they're so
ready to be on board most of the time for fun.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
And do you ever have shows where you perform with
other burless dancers as well?

Speaker 4 (07:28):
Yeah? I do.

Speaker 5 (07:30):
My last tour that I did Burlesque Levana Juloon, which
is the big stage production. I have had backup dancers,
And I love having backup dancers because me personally, fan
dancing is beautiful, but gosh, it's tiring.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
So it's so much more fun when you have a
little bit of help.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Yeah, that would be so much helpful.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Well, it's Father's Day, Amy, and you have been teasing
me all morning.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
Yeah, I see that.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
Was a well planned Like I have been teasing you.
I want you to sit back in the corner over
there in the corner a little bit further back, just
gives you some space in between, like a cock chair.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
I want you to relax your shoulders. Actually, any things coming.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
Well, Evanna was telling us about her shows and it's
about taking I don't know, it sounds you know, I
am I don't know what to expect, and I sound
really sleazy saying that, But that's literally what is said?

Speaker 1 (08:28):
Sit back, close your eyes. Okay, all right, we're going
to roll the music. Yep, open the door, yep.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
Can you bring in havana now? All right?

Speaker 2 (08:39):
Huh.

Speaker 5 (08:40):
Buffalo lawn care tips. You've got to keep things nice
and neat down there. I'm talking about your buffalo lawn darling.
A regular mog keeps the thatch from getting too thick,
and we wouldn't want things to get.

Speaker 4 (08:53):
Too wild, now would we.

Speaker 5 (08:55):
Buffalo grass maybe low maintenance, but even the best need
a little TLC. Without some rich, satisficing fertilizer, that lawn
will just fade away.

Speaker 4 (09:07):
So don't be shy in sandy spot.

Speaker 5 (09:09):
Feed it every two months, make it lush, make it green,
make it per Watering is all about control, baby. Once
every two weeks in summer is all it needs. Unless
it's really hot, then give it some extra love twice
a week, just enough to keep it begging for more.

(09:31):
Once or twice a year, it's time to go short.
I'm talking a bold, low mow. Defch are in hard
in autumn or early spring, then rake it, and I
mean really rake it.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
Hmm, so satisfying. If your lawn's looking a little tired
and patchy. Don't panic.

Speaker 5 (09:51):
Just grab your tool, a strong, sturdy pitchfork and give
the soil a good poking. That's right, errate it deep,
let that earth breathe again.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
Oh okay, hey, feeling you a very worked up over there?

Speaker 2 (10:08):
Well, I you make lawn care amazingly sexy of Hannah.

Speaker 5 (10:14):
You know, it's just so simple. Yeah, I just got
to put a lot of care and hard work into it.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
Amy thinks she's been very funny with the surprise because.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
I couldn't organize a burless private burles show. You're a
married man. I hadn't run anything past Georgie.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
Yeah, so this was a bit of both.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
Like, we all know that you get a bit hot
and heavy for your lawn and your garden. Sure, so
I thought what better than to get a hot, sexy
burless dancer to read out some lawn care tip.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Yeah, I mean I like my lawn. I like naked ladies.
Australia's number one burless dancers fully closed reading about buffalo grass.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
We're a weekend brecky show. Yeah, I had to keep
it PG.

Speaker 5 (11:00):
Not many other people can say that they've had that experience,
so one.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
Of a kind, I will say that is. That's some
of the hottest lawn lawn chat I've ever heard. Your
delivery is amazing. Have your Father's day, Chris, Well, thank you, Yeah,
you're welcome, No and jokes aside, Evanna, it is lovely
to meet you, and I'm I'm not disappointed that you're
fully clothed.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
I'm glad you got to buy tickets to the show.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
Yes, yeah, if.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
You want to see the full thing, evannadaloon dot com
to grab the tickets at the Labas Supper Club in
Melbourne and also at the Sydney Fringe Festival coming soon.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
So and if you want a little sneak peek of
what her shows look like, even just the performances. I
spend far too much time on her page. I send
your videos to all of my girlfriends. Her Instagram handle
is Avana Deloon. So E v A n A d
E l U n E.

Speaker 3 (11:56):
Check her out.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
You know you're going to be bombarded with requests for
gardening tips.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Could yeah, there's that scene where they pay people to
like read stuff out normally for birthdays.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
It might be it will be my mech hot gardening
tips with Evanna du Lude.

Speaker 4 (12:14):
Why not?

Speaker 3 (12:15):
Why not?

Speaker 2 (12:16):
Well, congratulations on being the number one burlesque dancer in Australia.
It's great to meet you.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
Thank you so much for coming in as well.

Speaker 4 (12:23):
Thanks so much for having me.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
Okay, when's the real surprise?

Speaker 4 (12:27):
No, no, no, And a.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
Very happy Father's Day to me and all the dad's
out there.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
If you didn't keep jumping in and you let me
have a moment, I could have wished you a happy
Father's Day.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (12:46):
Father's Day pig.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
And you know what, I want to send out a
very very special message to my own dad, Big B.
His name is Brad, but we call him Big B
because he's a big unit. It's a nice one this year.
Because I didn't always like him.

Speaker 3 (13:04):
I grew up like really not liking my dad.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
You use the word hate, and.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
I will wasn't allowed to use the word hate growing
up because hate was too strong a word, Amy, And
I'll tell you why I hated him, because he was
so strict on me. I was his firstborn, I was
a girl, I was his only daughter, and so he
basically didn't want to let me do anything.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
And I resented him so much.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
But you turned into a good person as a result.
We had him on the show and was giving me.
He was basically putting me, telling me, I've got to
be stricter with the kid.

Speaker 4 (13:36):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
And it's only since becoming a parent myself that I
have reflected and gone, oh my gosh. Everything he did
came from a place of love and devotion and warning
to keep me safe.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
And so you would have been so ungrateful.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
I was so ungrateful, and I just thought he was
the worst. And so I used to sneak out and
lie about everywhere. I'd go, skip school and shoplift.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
I was not like I was naughty.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
What's the worst thing you ever said to him?

Speaker 1 (14:07):
Not appropriate for the show, But I just I he's
not listening, so this is pointless. But this is the
kind of dad he is now, and we've got a very,
very beautiful relationship.

Speaker 3 (14:20):
Now there's a lot of respect for one another.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
He sent me a message only two days ago and
he said for my darling daughter, and.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
It's an Instagram post that he has got the link for, oh.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
And John Lennon's playing, and it said, happiness is realizing
the baby girl you once held in your arms has
grown into a fiercely independent, deeply kind and wildly capable soul.

Speaker 3 (14:50):
Oh that's nice, and that he's so sweet.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
Now what time of date did the He wasn't on
the wines.

Speaker 3 (14:56):
It was at is he.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
Still having like four bottles of wine a night?

Speaker 1 (14:59):
No, he has two. It was at eight forty in
the morning. I said, love this, and I love you, Dad,
and so I just I I want him to know
that I truly, truly appreciate everything that he did for
me growing up. And it actually wouldn't have been It
wouldn't have been easy being the bad cop and putting

(15:21):
in all those boundaries and holding things in place firmly,
because I was such a wild child that I would
have absolutely gone off the rails. But at least he
installed some good morals and self respect and self worth,
and so even when I did kind of fall off
the track, I always knew how to come back onto it, because.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
That's that's the hardest thing I find about being a father,
is sticking to your rules and convictions and like going
through with punishments boundary, you got to go through with
it because if you don't do it, they just know
next time you're not gonna you're going to go through
with it.

Speaker 1 (15:58):
My dad was my mum's biggest threat, Like, no one
really kind of was scared of my mum, And so
her biggest draw card was I'll.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
Get your father.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
Wait till your father gets it.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
I'll tell your dad. And I did.

Speaker 1 (16:11):
I got some smacks on the barm and a few
on the hand. Yeah, yeah, never anything worse.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
I've got chased around the house with the belt.

Speaker 1 (16:18):
You're not allowed to laugh about that now at different times,
different times.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
Different times.

Speaker 5 (16:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
Dad used to smoke in the car too.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
They used to smoke in aeroplanes.

Speaker 2 (16:27):
Oh yeah, anyway, that's how you know it's a crappy
old You know, when you get on a plane and
there's still ash tray and this is an old plane.

Speaker 3 (16:34):
Will we make it?

Speaker 1 (16:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (16:35):
Anyway, Big Bee, if you're listening, I love you so much.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
You are truly the world's best dad and I am
incredibly lucky to have you.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
That's nice.

Speaker 3 (16:45):
What about you? You got one for your dad.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
We're out of time. You went on for too long
about Big b Sorry, ian Ian Paige, no time for you.
Chris got to tell you though.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
Yeah, my wife.

Speaker 2 (17:03):
You know how women like act like they are keeping
everything together in the household and they run the house
and everything had fall apart without them.

Speaker 3 (17:11):
Well, no, that's true.

Speaker 2 (17:13):
Well no, last weekend, my wife went away, and I'll
tell you everything was fine. It just ran smoothly. It
was actually a lot calmer. There was no yelling, no fighting,
So yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
Okay, So you also mentioned that she took one of
the kids, so you were just at home with one child, yeah,
Henry MT. And there was probably no yelling and it
was probably karma because let me guess you didn't clean
up after yourself.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
Well I didn't cook, so so you.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
Just say take away and you fed your other son.

Speaker 1 (17:49):
Just take away Friday, Saturday and Sunday night.

Speaker 2 (17:52):
Yes, I had the macarch.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
I told you, no wonder everything ran smoother.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
And so wait when Georgie got home, what did the
house look like?

Speaker 2 (18:01):
I did like a quick cleanup, like you did a
boy clean up. Yeah, like half an hour before she
got home. So just put pizza boxes and stuff under
the couch.

Speaker 4 (18:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
See, that way of living is sustainable maybe for about
two weeks. But I've actually also been solo parenting. I
have my husband has been away for the last two weeks.
I have three children. And when I tell you my
life is so much easier when he's not around, and

(18:31):
I have him around because I love him, So it's
almost like it's more of a compliment to him because
I am perfectly capable of running a household and managing
three children and a career without him.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
So he serves no purpose pose but I love him.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
He's my best friend. Right when he is not here,
I just get it done. I get everything done quicker.
I have no expectations. I have no one to rely
on but myself, so knowing that, I just I'm constantly
working each room.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
I'm entertaining the kids.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
I'm a little bit more attentive because i know I'm
the only parent they have. So I'm sitting down with
them for dinner, I'm you know, hanging out with them
at breakfast time, and I'm walking them to school. I'm
trying to It's so wild how much easier my life
is when Ryan's not here.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
See, I find it easy without Georgie because there's not
all the rules and things like she's always like, oh
my god, it's at seven thirty, it's past your bedtime.
When she was away, Oscar woke me up on the
couch at nine pm and said, I think I should
go to bed.

Speaker 1 (19:38):
Oh my god, Like I said, your way of living
is it would be very enjoyable for you as a man,
but it's not sustainable.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
It's not a great environment for a child.

Speaker 2 (19:49):
No, there's a lot about my lifestyle in the past
that is, we would be called non sustainable.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
Non sustainable, and also men view women as naggers, and
yet without us you would all fade away and deteriorate
and rot in your own house underneath your rubbish.

Speaker 2 (20:07):
And he was fine. He woke me up and said, lot's.

Speaker 3 (20:09):
It was fine because you had him for two nights.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
Yeah, yeah, easy.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
A month later, a month later, I don't know, he'd
be like, mommy, please come home.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (20:20):
Whereas yeah, I look.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
I just feel I'm I feel I have responsibility, Like
when Georgie's not there, I know I've got to get
stuff done. But then when she's there, I know everything's
going to get done.

Speaker 1 (20:32):
So I could just yeah, see this is and this
is what happens with when I get when Ryan gets home,
I wish I could stay as busy and as attentive
to the kids and as like diligent to.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
The cleaning like I am when he's not here. But
what I do.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
When he gets home, I pull back a little bit,
and I have these things called expectations, like cleaning up
after yourself and a shared responsibility of maintaining the house's cleanliness.

Speaker 3 (20:59):
But Ryan's defense is I don't care.

Speaker 2 (21:01):
Yeah, it doesn't.

Speaker 1 (21:02):
He doesn't like he will eat nuts and food and
have a beer and then he just leaves it on
the coffee table and go clean up.

Speaker 3 (21:11):
I don't clean it up. I see it the next.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
Morning, and I ball of fury hits me because then
the thing is he'll come around two days later and
he'll scoop it up. But I don't want it picked
up two days later. I want him to tidy up
after himself.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
Actually, you know what I did do before Georgie got back,
because she was getting back on the Monday, So Monday
morning I did get in the sexy Argentinian cleaners.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
To clean the house. They did the house, so it
was even worse before they turned up.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
Yeah, yeah, you need Georgie, she's a saint n woman.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
Yes, but I was able to talk them into a
group of the Tres Spanish. Yeah you know I'm lying,
I do, Georgie, I'm lying.

Speaker 1 (22:02):
You would have been buried under pizza boxes on your couch. Yeah,
you need Georgie, I don't need Ryan. Keep him around,
is a nice dude.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
Yeah, Hey, well it's Father's Day, so be nice.

Speaker 1 (22:14):
Sure I would be, but mine's away in South Africa,
so

Speaker 2 (22:19):
