Speaker 1 (00:00):
James Patterson. You've already released four books this year, and
you have five available for as somewhat as someone whose
favorite hobby is to read. I wish I had one
good book in me. I mean, that's just amazing.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
You know, prolific and good. Yeah, I have a big imagination.
You're my time here is short. What can I do
most beautifully? Yeah? And for me, it's writing stories that
people can't put down.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Oh, that's just how I like them.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Well, we got we've got a couple of them. What
we got the Women's Murder Club, which is you know,
Alice crosses all over the place because he's on Prime
Video and whatever, but actually the biggest around the world
is a women's murder club. So we got a new one,
twenty five alive. Yes, and it's all about these four
women who you know wants a homicide detective, Ones, a sister,

(00:55):
da Ones, a lawyer, and they're the kind of friends
we all wish we had, Yes, and they and they
love to get together and solve murders very good times.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
What you mentioned the prolific, we said, prolific and great.
But Mike, what are your fans like? They obviously they
rolled up to books, signings and heard.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
They're all love it. They love to hear. They love
to hear a good story. Everybody does, you know exactly,
And that's what I try to do. The other one
that's that's I think out right now is Two Sisters
Murder Investigation and it's kind of the weird family business.
Two two sisters, ones sixteen years old and she's you know,

(01:35):
sort of Internet obsessed and the other one is sort
of a lawyer, just in minded kind of lawyer and
they don't get along on anything, but they're really they're
really fun. And actually I wrote that one with Candace Fox,
who was a very good Australian writer. So those two,
the Two Sisters Murder Investigations, and then and then The
Woman to Murder Club.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
I think we spoked to Canada when the last one
came out. And I love what you write with Candace
Fox doing. But do you enjoy collaborating with other people?

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Candice No, Oh, no, my god, she's awful. She no,
she's great. I do. I do. She's really a lot
of thing. He has a big imagination. She's very lively
and she's got a new little daughter, not so new
right now, but yeah, yeah, So so, yeah, we we
have a We have a great time doing our books.

(02:23):
And two sisters. There's a lot of fun and it's funnier.
The one is were club isn't as funny as two sisters.
A lot of that is Candace because she's off the wall,
and and between the two of us, I think we
tell a pretty good story.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
Please tell us only birthday on the weekend that you
didn't work? Were you please not writing? Were you doing
something to spoil yourself on my birthday?

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Yeah? Yeah, we had her son down here and and
my three sisters and and they all love me, but
they don't like each other. So it was perfect, just
like just like Canda, just like Ronda and baby Bird
and two sisters.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Yeah, James minus three?

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Right, you and I share a birthday. Actually mine was
on Saturday as well well someday.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Oh really birthday at James, I've been one happy birthday
birthday weeks. Anyway, did you hear that classic? Yeah, I'll
get another present, James.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
Have you have you ever written a character named it
after someone you didn't like then killed them off?

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Yeah? Well the time, I don't want that many people
I don't like to Yeah, I'm pretty open about people.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Yeah, maybe the occasional reviewer.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Well, yeah, there are a couple.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Of You're generous to them, are pretty kind. Yeah, you
are a generous soul. Those countless grounds and scholarships over
the years, to so many institutions. I mean, was it
just something that you felt like, when you've got some success,
you just wanted to give.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Back, you know, I don't take to credit my mom
and my grandmother. That was sis their deal to give
away stuff. And you know we've given away one hundred
and sixty million dollars, so it's a lot is going
to inherit. Nothing but.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
James, I don't know when you have the time, but
can I ask what was the last book you read
and loved?

Speaker 2 (04:10):
I just read a new Michael Connolly that's not out yet.
Michael's a friend of my fact, I'm interviewing him Friday.
I do a little thing on online interviews. Uh so, yeah,
and his new one is he's a he's a terrific
mystery writer as well. Yeah. Right, not to compare myself
to Michael, but yeah, that was that was the most recent. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
I think some of his stuff has been made into
TV shows, has it or?

Speaker 2 (04:34):
But enough about him?

Speaker 3 (04:35):
Yeah, enough about it.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
No, yeah, they have, they have, they have. Yeah, we
have a well the Alice Crossed stuff that's done well
on TV, and we have I don't know if the
Idaho murder is a decade over there, that whole those
terrible those four young kids in college. I think, Yeah,
we have a documentary coming on you know. Yeah, it's
it's a terrible, terrible crime. I murdered these four college

(04:59):
kids in their dormitory. Yeah, and that's going to come
on Amazon as well or on you know, Prime video
as a documentary.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
So yeah, madam fascinated about the writing process process. Do
you have a favorite room, a favorite desk. Do you
work on the laptop or.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
I don't care. Yeah, I don't work for a living.
I play for Yeah, I I I write seven days
a week. I'm I'm at one of my desks in
my office. I'm I haven't a place on the ocean,
so I have to make sure I put the blinds
down so I'm not looking at the ocean. But I
have a couple of desks in here, and I'll go

(05:33):
back and forth between the desks, and you know, so,
so if I like right now with the two books
with The Woman's Murder Club and the Two Sisters. I
might you know, if I'm writing those series, I might
write them at different desks, just like that, just trick myself.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
Right, you know, everything would be a Florida story.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
I've done a couple of stories in Florida stories as well. Yeah,
it came down to visit us here.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
She loved it.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
It's not hard to get people here. We just President Clinton.
I've written books of President Clinton to visit down here. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
I love that.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
You can just drop.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Where I am in Florida. We're one mile from from
Mary Lago, which is the President Trump camps out. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
Yeah, you're so likable and funny. We want to visit.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
Come, yes, come on down wet a guest house, right.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
Be careful what you wish jobs, James. I can't wait
to read the latest too. And I'm about to have
a little holiday, so I will be taking those those
with me.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Read those books. It's a holiday even if you don't
have a holiday, exactly.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
Yeah, it's lovely to.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
Chat with you, James.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
Very nice, very nice.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
You're playing not working well done.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Well, have a nice morning and I'll have a nice night. Yeah.
