Speaker 1 (00:01):
It's time to talk sport with Adrian Barrage. Good morning, Barrow,
happy new Yeah yeah, and to you, my friend, we're
doing it again. To all our listeners. Here we are.
We're back again, because sport never stops for our sins. Yeah,
it's it's been amazing. I wanted to start by saying
great's about to come in actually and wrap up one

(00:21):
of the great Tests series.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
When a crickets great Test series, it has been right,
got off to a pretty rough start for us.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Well, yeah, I reckon. I mean last time India here
was massive, and there's been a South African one and
then in my ear some belters with England all the
rest of it. But the Aussies to win three to
one could have been for one probably if it didn't
rain in Brisbane, which.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
Yeah, well exactly, we would have already had it locked away.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Sounds a bit unfair on the Indians. But and it
all started in a strange ways. You said, the build
up was who's going to replace Dave Warner. Bancroft fell
over in all the contenders fell over, even Constance wasn't
doing anything. No, and they said, oh, let's go with this.
Nathan McSweeney Blake, but he doesn't open the batting. That
doesn't matter. We'll put him up there. He'll be sweet.

(01:08):
And of course in the first Test were bloke. We
got belted, here did and we Coli got a century,
Jayswell got a century and we're thinking the Aussies are
under a pump. Everyone turned on him. I don't know
what they're doing. They got beaten by was it two
hundred and ninety five runs in Perth? Can you believe that?

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Don't worry, I remember it. We had it up in
the screen and here and it was made for very
unhappy viewing.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
And then we just bounced back in the second Test
and Adelaide and just won by ten wickets and sort
of never looked back. Miss McSweeney ended up getting replaced
by Constance, who was a revelation in his second day
of his ramp shotting and you know, reverse sweeping.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Boomerah forgetting he's not in a T twenty game shotting
with some of those shots.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Having no nerves. So the three biggest storylines out of
the series, obvious one is Jasper Boomera and the fact
getting injured the last Test, which probably really hurt him,
but his form I don't know if you know, but
thirty two wickets just like unprecedented.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
It's like that's like just incredible. So he was the man.
He is the Indian best.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Bowler in the world and ended up being captain again.
They had to drop their captain. The next best storyline,
of course, involved the teenage of the nineteen year old
Sam Constance from Sydney. The way he battered, the audacity
that he showed, the lack of nerves, the youthful, I
suppose arrogance, you'd a must say, would you young blacks nowadays?

Speaker 2 (02:29):
He went in pretty early with the Usually takes a while,
doesn't it. But he went in all guns blazing right
from the start.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
At a crack at boomerm himself one stage there. But
that's what young blakes are like nowadays. He's quite remarkable.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Didn't like it.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
Yeah, well, he's had a seat.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
He's apart from that, you know, the ton in Perth.
He's had a he's had a tour to forget me,
had a Barry Crocker that some of it he brought
on himself, that's to be honest. Come on.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Never he's been hard to love over the jury, hard
like over the journey. I'd say that even though he's
one of the great he is, he's brilliant up with
absolutely and Smith. But in every great story, you need
a villain in every great soap opera, and he played
the role magnificently.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
And Hadley was very upset apparently over in New Zealand
because the crowd stole his line. In the crowd, yeah,
substitute Hadley for.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Yeah, halfback flanker. He shoulder bump constance when conscience looked
like he was gettinghim ahead of himself. And then yesterday
with the sandpaper signals, that was like, I reckon, he
crossed the line there, That was ridiculous. Why would you
be doing that. Bancroft's in hospitals.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
He was upset and he knew it was.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
But Smith gets out and he starts going, now, well,
I remember, don't forget he's that guy, you know. And
I really feel for Bancroft as well, so he and
he himself Virat he got out eight times almost exactly
the same way. It's luck he didn't.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Learn, which is what he was getting turned on by
the Indians back home. They were just again the same way.
They really gave him a hard time. He was copying
pressure here and there.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
He only averaged twenty three point seventy five for the series,
so he overcooking his celebrations all that, and then there's
all the subplots as well, Scottie Bowland ten for twenty
six CG Yesterday great in Melbourne as well, Mitch Marsh
getting dropped and both graciously, very gracious mate, so good Marsha,

(04:36):
the Bison great Man. Bo Webster comes in, hits the
winning runs. You know, would Marsh you have done it?
I don't know, but we didn't it Bo Webson did.
And then there's the inverted commas woke Asie Captain Pat Cummins.
He had an amazing series. I don't think he's fully
got the regard that he deserves for it, because he's

(04:58):
loved by many, but still not universally embraced. You know,
most of the Australian captains, Border and Ponting and Vieues
and all the rest of them, they're all they're all
really really loved because he's got that political agenda. I
don't know if he's got an agenda. They just ask him,
what do you think about climate change? Climate change? I'll
tell you this what about yet the yes, fat well,
I'll tell you about that.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
Rabably because of the fact that he dips his toe
into those waters where previous might have it, they just
go not I deal with what happens one, whereas Pat
talks about stuff off the field and people go, yeah,
don't talk about that.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Australia day. We should move Australia day.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
But he came like a lead. Yeah, absolutely wrought iron.
That's something that previous captains probably, but he kept a
really cool head through this. He was amazing and got
to the wind.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
From my point of view, should be celebrated. But you go,
he used to be go wake, go broke, actually go woke.
And Australian cricket team's done everything. They've won everything trophy
and now they head to Lords.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
For the what they we're going to throw al anka,
aren't they?

Speaker 1 (06:01):
Yeah? But the big one is the World Test Champions.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
Yes, so we're guaranteed to.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Go Australia v. South Africa the eleventh of June this
year at Lord's Cummings Boys versus Boomeras Army. Can you
imagine how big it's going to be?

Speaker 2 (06:15):
And Smith wants to go to sorrow Alnka so he
can score one run. It doesn't want to get out
for a I saw some people mark and ninety nine.
I mean you just I saw people marketing that for tourism.
Come over and see him score his ten thousands run?

Speaker 1 (06:32):
How many does he need? One one?

Speaker 2 (06:35):
Make it a day trip hopefully.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
Barently stri Lanka is magnificent. That's what I mean. I'd
love to go. The other storyline yesterday was Sunny Gavascar,
so it's a Border Gavascar trophy. Sunny's blown up to
Lux that he didn't get to go down and present
the trophy. So it was always the winning country. Alan
Border went and did it, but Sonny thought that he
and when I.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
Know what it kind of would be nice.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
Yeah, it was crazy they didn't but anyway, that's what
they did well quickly just touched on the United Cup USA.
Huge triumph by the USA, the beat team poland Coco Goff.
She's going to be an absolute star. She's the new Williams.
You know, La Scenario, world number three, Taylor Fritz, world

(07:19):
number four, the man. They're going to be huge at
the Australian Open. The world number one in men is
Yannick Sinner and now it's what a name he's got Sinner.
It turns out he had a positive steroid test twice,
and Curios has come out and said, mate, this is
a joke that he's still playing. You know, isn't he
being sanctioned? You know this is unfair, and so Leyton Hewitt.

(07:40):
So Nick's got himself in the s H one team now,
because again it's Layton's sun. He is sixteen, his name's Cruz.
He's had an opportunity to train with Sinner, right and
he's gone Bloody Earth World number one. I'll train with him.
And so Nix now sort of sort of tore shreds
off him a little bit on social media as to

(08:01):
why Layton, why is your son playing with the Annix Sinner?
And you know that's not cool and all that sort
of stuff. So it's become this huge thing. But you know, how,
don't know, what do you reckon about nick curiosity?

Speaker 2 (08:12):
Well, you know he knows how to get himself back
in the headlines, doesn't.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
He serving under arm and hitting the ball between his legs.
And I mean he's a great crowd puller. But if
you take on Layton Hewitt's kid over that, yeah, I
don't think it's a great.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Now, like you said, we're talking about him again. So
that's what he wants.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
Well, let's hope he gets to the Australian Open. And
because he doesn't know five sets, no good five sets,
you can't give the five sets. It just breaks down,
which is not a great sign. Is Bryce Cotton carrying
the Wildcats? They've gone on the longest road trip. This
must be the longest road trip in the world, going
to play in Auckland from Perth, right.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
Yeah, it wants to be. It's the Breakers and the
Wildcats have both guaranteed the longest road trips and every season.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
Though, it's so ridiculous, but anyway, they beat them over
there and Bryce had another forty point game, so that's
his fifth forty point game.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
That's amazing.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
He scored sixteen in the last quarter, so it must
be pretty fit. I think the Breakers forgot the game
plan against the Cats, which is stop bloody Bryce.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
All players on him.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
Sat forty again, So the Cat's going nicely at the moment.
And also the female side of that of basketball in
Western Australia, the Perth Links one win away from securing
a spot in the WNBL Finals they've played, They've had
five wins and again in a row, and they are flying.
They're in hot form, so well, don't to the links

(09:39):
as well. I also wanted to mention overnight for everyone
who loves the EPL. The Liverpool Manchester United game was massive, So, man,
you's been struggling. They're down in thirteenth spot at the moment.
Liverpool on top of the ladder. So who would have thought, man,
you had ever even been in thirteenth spot? Remember those
years when they're always top four. This just guaranteed Fergie

(10:00):
and all the.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Rest of it.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
Two giants of the game, and man, you snapped a
four game losing streak by having a two all draw
with Liverpool.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
In the snow. Yeah, I mean they nearly didn't They
nearly didn't even play.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
It's a crazy town over there when we're so hot.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Here, incentive to run around a lot on the field,
that's for sure.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
So Liverpool and there was a drawer, so Liverpool moved
six points clear on top of the table. They've got
a game in hand on Arsenal too, so poor old
Tim McMillan. I reckon Arsenal's going to fall short again
and it feels like I just feel sorry for him.
Have you ever read that book Fever Pitch Honey Cornby
like his life revolves around arsenal. No, that's Tim McMillan
from Channel seven.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
Oh really, he's a bit hardcore.

Speaker 1 (10:41):
He loves it and speaking of man you mate. So
there's a kid called Luke Lidler. He is a kid.
He's seventeen, right, and the Manchester United manager referenced him
before the game against Liverpool. He said, listen, you've got
to be more like Luke Lidler and all the blakes
are gone. Yeah, he's buddy unreal. He loves our club.

(11:02):
He's seventeen. He's just become the World darts champion.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
And don't they go nuts for darts up for It's amazing.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
He's from where's he from? He's from Warrington, which is
north west of England. I reckon his first dart. He
threw his first dart as a toddler, eighteen months old.
I don't know if he's at the pub. He wasn't
at the pub. He was at home, probably just hit
dad Dad's He's won half a million pounds, which is
apparently million dollars and anyway.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
It is at the moment.

Speaker 1 (11:31):
Yeah, he beat Michael van Gerwin and he's seventeen. And
after the big win they spoke about the fact that
a very famous Manchester United player had given him a call.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
And I heard that you got a message from David
Beckham after the win last night. What did he say
and what was your reaction when you got that message?

Speaker 1 (11:50):
Yeah? I seen his message.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
He was like, well well done man. I just said
thank him.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
There'd been a massive man United fan. That must have
been a surreal moment for you. Yeah, crazy, easy to
see obviously, I'll tell my woman dud who messages me.
I've seen my dudd.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
He's seen the glory das of monnionated.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
So he was.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
He was, well the trough does well. Yeah, well, very
very excited. Not that I'm going to let you know
about it, but mate, you're understated.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
You know what's happened there? An't you? Becks sitting at
home with Posh and I'm ringing this bloke up because
he's a man you fan, good published he but also
I'm excited, you know, bes, I can imagine he's never
going to help launch the Space Shuttle. Becks. Anyway, he
rings up and he rings the bloke and the kid
clearly doesn't have much clue about who he is. Because,
just for an ideas, Becks retired at Man You in

(12:36):
two thousand and three, and guess when Luke Lidley was
born two thousand and seven. Wow? Well yeah, actually never
went and saw him play, but his old man would
have told him about it. He would have seen that.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
I would have probably saw the movie. He's a man,
be he would have seen it.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
His old man's obviously massive and fair enough so as
a kid. But good on Becks a ringing him up.
So just look up this kid. You might catch it
on the New Used to know Luke Lidler, seventeen year
old World darts champion. Quite remarkable, not the healthiest sport, No,
let's be honest.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
A couple of beers between shots, smoke off screen. Bar,
We're going to catch you again on Friday
