Speaker 1 (00:01):
Sim good morning and Merry Christmas. Is our last show
of the year from the Broken Hill Hotel. We are so.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Spoilt to have this man joining us this morning because
he's just fresh off a show at the Aster last night.
He's got another one tonight. The Hoodoo Gurus were in
town playing shows at the Asta, celebrating the fortieth anniversary
of Stone Age Romeos, which is the first album I
ever bought with my very own that Dave Fagner Girus.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
Howdy Howdy mates.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
How was last night's show?

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Oh it's good, blood bloody hot. I gotta say, yeah,
was shocked by that. Yeah, it's it was a great show.
We played nearly two hours, so we go. I'm a
bit sort of worn out today, I must admit I'm not.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
Did you get like one or two hours sleep? You're
like a breakfast.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
About four hours on a Trooper the one and.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Only, So Dave, you're celebrating Stone Age Romeo, sore you
doing the album like from beginning to end the way
at the way it ran exactly.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Yeah, we start the show with the first song and
we go right through it, and then we move on
to the rest of our career. In the next hour.
And a bit. Yeah. So yeah, it's a pretty mammoth show.
But stern as Rome has been a lot of fun
to play all those obscure songs and once I mean
the singles we know, but yeah, some other songs that
we don't get a chance to play so often. So
it's been a blasting.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
Absolutely, Where did those forty years ago?

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Don't was written on my face.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Our faces because we all go back a long way.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
A couple of songs off the album probably go off
more than others because they were the big hits. My Girl, Yeah,
Greayhound Beautiful, Well, that was the video an old sort
of myth.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
It was a myth. I mean basically people believe the
video because you know, it's such a touching little story
we showed in the video. But the song itself is
just a classic boy meets girl, boy loses girl sort
of you know, teen romance song. And I wrote it
as a sort of sixties sort of pastiche in a way,
you know, getting to the songs that I grew up on. Yeah, yes, yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
How about longevity, I mean, how have you maintained that
voice all this time? And the show with the energy
you do it four nights estimate.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
Yeah, I well, basically I do a bit of war
uts beforehand and no drinking. I don't even have a
coffee on the day I see, believe it or not.
Oh right, yeah, yeah, so a bit of that sort
of being a bit of a you know, hard task
master on myself to make sure I can shut front
up and do what I got to do. You have
family here, I do? Yeah, yeah for Christmas. I'm absolutely
I'm here for until boxing Dale right now. So yeah,

(02:24):
looking forward to all that.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Yeah, well, a ex perthy and you're always a bit
of a perthy out to you, Yes, totally. So all
of a sudden the time we've had a really unusually
mild start and just when the gurus get the town
for fourty and there was forty one.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
It was forty one. The day we landed was pretty credible,
all right.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Well, the four shows that you're playing were apparently sold out,
but we found that late last night a handful of
tickets for tonight, tomorrow night and Sunday have just been
released tickets and through ticket tech.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
I would get in quick though. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
When I say handful, I mean.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Yeah, well it's basically I guess this we didn't use
it up. They left some lecture tickets to go out
back on sales. Isn't many parents, It sounds like a
foolhouse hed Anyway, folks,
