Speaker 1 (00:00):
Here comes from a news and it's courtesy of someone
that you swore that we should never talk about, and
that is Rachel ray Gun Gunn, who of course was
our breakdancer at the Paris Olympics that didn't go so well.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
We all had a we had a meeting about this.
We well shook hands. We said that's enough, that's enough,
ray gun Well, to.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Be fair, That was with my replacement, Harley Pearson. So
here comes to raygun News, right. All right, So we
all knew about the you know, the fact that she
went viral, you know, the ridiculous abuse that she copped
and everything else. But it was pretty contentious with what
happened to her and the fact that she even took
part in the game. So last night the Project sat
down none other than Wali Dhali for a sixteen minute

(00:44):
one on one with this breakdancer. So have a listen
to rey gun then what she had to say about
her chances of winning, what she knew going into the Olympics.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
Yeah, I knew my chances were slim. As soon as
I qualified, I was like, oh my gosh, what have
I done? Because I knew that I was going to
get beaten and I knew that people would not kind
of understand my style and what I was going to do.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
It's not funny laugh about that.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
I feel really uncomfortable with that. When you're talking about
going to the Olympics. I hate like, if you're going
to you know, the South Australian Country Championships or whatever,
may beaten freaking Olympics.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
You having a goal at the South Australian Country Championships
at the Olympics, like success is a nation.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
So she did actually apologize, but she didn't apologize to
us who saw her, and she apologized to the breaking
community after people like a fellow hip hop dancer called
Spy said things like, you made a mockery the Australian scene.
I think that's why a lot of us are hurting
in hip hop. We have this thing you step up
or you step off. You need to know your place.

(01:53):
This is her response.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
It is really sad to hear those criticisms and I
am very sorry for, you know, the backlash that the
community has experienced. But I can't control how people react.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
If you can, you can dance better. If you didn't
do the Kangaroo on the world stage.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
And I think the tracks two pants too, didn't do
her any favors anyway. So then, of course, as part
of the fallout, everybody was saying, quite rightly, how and
the hell did she even get a gig at the Olympic.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Yeah, this was all sorts of conies.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Like the husband was involved in the judging, and the
DA da da, These are all the allegations. So she
put all that to rest.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
I won the Oceania Championships.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
As simple as that.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Yeah, it was a direct qualifier.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
And did you know anyone who was involved in making
the selection or any of the judges.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
There were nine judges, all from overseas. I don't think
any of them have judged anything that I'd been in before.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
What were all about other breakdances doing? I know, why
were they in the Oceana championsh.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
I feel like maybe the bus that they're on broke
down or something. I don't know, there was something.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
No one could get on the plane to the Solomon
Islands or wherever they held the Oceania champions.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
To be really clear, like the mental health aspects on
this on her would be atrocious, and she actually can't
even watch her dowance. She can't go back. She finds
it really uncomfortable, which don't say it, but also she
is staying off the internet, so she has missed a
lot of the vitriol and everything else, which my goodness,
thank goodness she has because it's been disgusting. But at
the same time, I think that it is fair to

(03:30):
criticize her performance because that's what it is.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
We criticize our athletes, and she is an athlete.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
So anyway, sixteen minutes on the project, all I'm saying
is there were those rumors going around that she was
going to get a lot of money on I'm a Celebrity,
Get Me out of Here. I wondered why she went
on the project and did such a big exclusive tell all,
wouldn't it maybe be a tie in?

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Ali don't miss it's because she really likes Channel ten,
Australia's favorite.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
But I will see if she does end up on
that
