Speaker 1 (00:01):
Meggs one or two point three, Max and Alli in
the morning, Vance Joy, get out of our way, because
Will Anderson is with us.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Good morning, good bye, Thank you very much. For it
was just that introduction. It was a bit too much
for me. It was like real transition between vns JO.
I was like, is this a new thing that Allie's
doing now? Like really takes the vibe of the song
(00:30):
right into the start of the next.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Well, he's a bit of a segue, Queen Will. That
wasn't her best. I know.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
I'm just very aware that we may have cut a
few seconds off fans, Joy just to get to you,
because I didn't want to keep you waiting, because.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
We don't need that much Joy. Come on there.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Now we'll get into groan. Of course. Episode two is
airing tonight at eight point thirty on ABC TV and
ABC IVY. But first, because Growin is this incredible you
leading an incredible panel of people look at advertising, we
thought we would hand over to you our very own
Max Burford's foray into advertising. He's put his hand up
(01:08):
and he has thrown his hand into the ring to
become the official Domino's Pizza hand model. Now we've sent
across the picks.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
We've done all of the official application in.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
Your expertise, Will Anderson, do you think he has a shot?
Speaker 2 (01:24):
I mean, I'm gotta be honest with you. I've looked
at the feedback online. Hasn't been a lot of positive feedback, mate,
So I've got to be honest with you, mate, like
it's been a lot of It's like, I mean, I
know people traditionally are quite negative online, but I've never
seen that. I mean, your fingers are divisive, like your
hands are dividing the nation. Like it's almost like the
opposite of a handshaker high five. It's the reverse. They're
(01:45):
repelling people. And I don't really get it because I
think you've got lovely hands. I mean, I've got to
be honest with They're well proportioned, they seem quite manicured.
They feel like they look so soft, like they've never
done it hard, does work in their life. I I
haven't not a not a callous but they look like
(02:06):
fresh out of the packet. It's almost as if you
hermetically seal them the minute you get out of the studio.
That people aren't able to actually touch your hand. It
feels like they might be in carbonite all day long,
just keeping them moisturized and fresh and ready to go.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
I whar the gloves? I where the gloves will all
day every day? And the people online that haven't picked
up on that, it's whatever tall poppies, tall short finger syndrome.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
I know you said they're proportionate, but they're actually quite
small for his height.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
Well doesn't well, I mean, I mean look, I mean
in hand advertising, it's really the whole person in proportion, right.
This is it's like often when you see people on TV.
People are quite a lot of very successful actors and
TV stars are short, right, Tom Cruise. They rove people
like this. They're actually quite small, but that's why they
(02:58):
look good on the television. And this is the same
with hand bottles. You don't want some big goofy like
Andre the Giants, right, like it's going to make the serving.
It's actually going to make the serving of dominoes. This
is actually perfect for dominoes, right, because they're trying to
like say to people, here's a generous size slice of pizza.
(03:19):
So what you need is like somebody who looks big
hand makes the pizza look big. In fact, it probably
makes anything that he puts in those tiny hands look
bigger than it actually is. I think that's a great,
great thing.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
Right, what an endorsement. Thank you will. I'm going to
not take the innuendo and take all of pizza praise
from you there. I really appreciate your wife.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
Has got that inn windo that I sorted. All right, now,
let's get onto Gruin because you are speaking about something
that I have noticed happening, and that is what the
hell is going on with Michael Hill Jeweler.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Oh yeah, so this is really interesting. Michael Hill Jeweler
used to be if you were a donut king looking
to get a ring for your donut queen, you would
pop down to Michael Hill Jeweler. There was one by
the muff and Brake and every supermarket and that was,
you know, that's where you went for your fancy seventeen
dollars you know, chip bracelet or a ring or whatever,
(04:16):
Michael Hill Jeweler. But it turns out over the years
they have been going completely out of business, like massive,
like you know, massive massive downturn. I guess online probably
has hurt a lot for these cheap jewelry sort of places.
So they have done one of the most ambitious rebrands
for a company that always was about, you know, being
the cheapest, selling itself as being the cheapest. If you
(04:37):
used to see a Michael Hill ad, it used to
just be a list of all the things they had
and how cheap they were. They have now done a rebrand.
They've got an ad with Miranda curR in it. It
looks like Breakfast at Tiffany's, because, of course the brand
that they're trying to style themselves on is the most
expensive all jewelry brands, Tiffany. They now have the box
that the Michael Hill jewelry comes in is much like
(04:58):
the famous Tiffany Blue box. They've got their own version
of that box. And they've got this incredibly glamorous ad
with mirandaka a billionaire of course, who's married to a billionaire,
you know, doing this incredible Audrey Hepburn style glamorous ad
for Michael Hill Jewelry.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
How much do you reckon given that Miranda Kerr wakes
up on a bed of money she just made the Yeah,
how much do you reckon? They've actually paid her to
make her do an ad like this?
Speaker 2 (05:26):
I mean, it's incredible when you think about that isn't
it because her partner is her husband is like he's
snapchat I believe the ban Yeah, so like so much
money and she was doing fine anyway, our little girl
from Gunnanda. But maybe that's maybe that's where the connection is.
I don't know, maybe Mirandka, you know, maybe the first
(05:47):
bit of jewelry she bought, maybe the first aspiration she
had was down at the local Gunda shopping center when
she walked into a Michael Hill jeweler. Maybe she's had
a lifelong connection with the brand, but probably not.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Well, I cannot wait to see. This is generally one
of my all time favorite shows on TV, and feel
through free on episode three to do a section of
hand modeling. If you would like next week, happy to
come on, will.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
I'm happy for you to come on next time. We're
going to have to talk about how soft and like
free of hair your hands seem to be. And then
suddenly when you get to your wrist, you seem to
be wearing some sort of furs suit.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
It's been mentioned, It's been mentioned, all right, never meantime,
check out Groan. It's so much fun. ABC TV and
ABC IVU A thirty Tonight or Ivy on demand. Hey
Will Andison, we'll talk to you next week. Thanks so much,
my pleasure,
