Speaker 1 (00:01):
And Amanda jam Nations passed away two years ago.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Our news. He was he was the brains behind it,
wasn't he behind the Beach Boys? Would you say that
the creative genius behind.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
The Dennis Wilson as well. But yes, Brian was an
extraordinary and extraordinary composer, mad genius, very much, so very much.
They had a domineering father who was a music I
guess he was a musician in his own right. But
he steered the Beach Boys through their father, did yeah,
through their trajectory. But he was also ruled the band

(00:34):
with a bit of an iron fish.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Yeah, okay, And of course Brian was the father of
Wendy and Carnie.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Wilson from the band was Wilson Phillips.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Yeah, and then begat China Phillips. Remember China Phillips. So
there's a hole, you know, and the mamas and the puppa's,
you know that whole.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
She didn't have a child with him. She was from
the Phillips side.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
Yeah, there's a Phillips. But they all got together, they
all across the streams. But what a litany of song,
some Beach Boys songs. I'm not the biggest Beach Boys
fan in the world. But I must admit, like surely
it's a credit.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Where it's June.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
They gave that beach sound because also the Beatles at
the time were huge, so the Beach Boys were just
before the Beatles.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
But also they had their own niche, didn't They very
distinct niche.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
And they didn't even serve their California guys, but they
weren't surfers. And then they came back in the nineties
with Kokomo, which that was from.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
The movie Cocktail that was made big through that.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
I think the greatest Beach Boys song ever was God Only.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Knows when that was featured in.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Love actually Love actually coming back to the airport.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
Yeah, yeah, beautiful people moving in and out, going back
their business, looking for love.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
It's a beautiful So.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
I think we should write a new page for the
Gerlmanac today. Well that's done. In nineteen sixty six, they
released what would be a diversion from their traditional surf sound,
the song God Only Knows, which was a diversion from
what they usually had, cars and surfing and all that junk.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
You know, it's quite the eulogy.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
And this came out at a time when the Beatles,
the Rolling Stones, the British invasion was knocking out their door.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
So Brian Wilson American sound, isn't it.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
His family have released a statement. We are heartbroken to
announce that our beloved father, Brian Wilson has passed away.
We're in a loss for words right now. Please respect
our privacy at this time is our family is grieving,
as the musical world is grieving, and I think we
should put this on because, as Brian said at the time,
this connected with his spirituality and the first song in
the world to have God in the title.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
Did you know that? You know that? Well, let's get
it on.
