Speaker 1 (00:00):
Jonesy and Amanda in the mornings. There were some comments
made yesterday by our Deputy Prime Minister. Do you even
know his name, Michael McCormack. Would you have known it
without reading that piece of paper in front of you? Yes,
I did. I He obviously is the leader of the
NATS and he made some comments yesterday when he was

(00:22):
asked about the link between bushfires and climate change, or
even just whether we should be looking at some policies
for climate change. He has said that this is he
found at galling when people raise climate change in relation
to bushfires. They don't people are trying to save their houses.
They don't need the ravings of some pure, enlightened and
woke Capital City greenies at the time they tried to

(00:45):
save their homes. He called it disgraceful and disgusting. This
just outrages me. I mean, when we see the protests
of climate change activists and we say that's disgusting, see
people who try and talk about this in the heart
of the bush fire season, which now pretty much goes
all year, and we're told that's disgusting. What I think

(01:07):
is disgusting is that we have a parliament half of
whom deny the science. How's that for a sentence, denying
the science of it? And these things are linked, whether
we like it or not. Our country is heating up,
the world is heating up, our bush is drier. We
are fighting fires all year round and in places we've
never had to fight fires before. Why keep your head

(01:29):
in the ground. And when is the right time to
discuss it? We're not allowed to discuss it when there's
no fires, not allowed to discuss it when there are
fires back America's gun control. Well, maybe this is it.
So mass shooting now is not the right time to
talk about It's probably now it's probably the right time
to talk about it. And also, I think we can
do both things. We can be respectful and for the

(01:52):
people who are fighting their fires, we can focus our
energies on fighting the fires at hand and providing shelter help,
and at the same time have a bigger discussion about
let's put in some policies so that maybe year after
year after year this isn't going to get worse and worse.
We can multitask and do both those things at once.

(02:13):
It's not one or the others. True, I've had my rand,
You've done well with thank you. I do find extraordinary.
When's the time, as you say, this is what America
does after a foot a shooting. Yep, now the time.
We'll send thoughts and prayers. Thoughts and prayers, joins the
and Amanda in the morning,
